Took me a few visits to this restaurant to learn that I am not a fan of this establishment. The first time (with a couple of co-workers) was not bad. My meal came out quick and tasted pretty good. The second time (lunching alone), I felt that my waiter was in a bad mood and didn't pay attention to me and when he did come by, his attitude was overbearing. The meal was just OK. It wasn't until the third time that things my opinion of the restaurant changed. I went there with a group of co-workers. The first thing we did was request that we got separate checks. The waiter said that we could not do that. We then insisted that we should be able to do that... which then he gave in and agreed to provide separate checks. That bugged me. We went on to order... and when our food came out, they mistakenly brought out the wrong meal for me. I ordered the Rainbow fried rice... but instead, they brought out the Rainbow Chow Mein. At first, our waiter insisted that I ordered it. Some of my co-workers agreed that I clearly ordered the fried rice. Our waiter said that he would correct the problem and bring out the right dish. Usually, in any other restaurant, serving the correct dish might take 5 or 10 minutes (at most). Well... my meal took over 30 minutes to come out!!! By the time I stood up to look for the restaurant manager, most or all of my workers had already finished their meals. I could not believe that i was still waiting (they couldn't either). I had been so engaged in our group conversation, that I had not noticed that our waiter had not come by to assure me that my meal was almost ready. My plan was to go see a manager and insist to cancel my order. I was annoyed and by that time, lost my appetite. The waiter gave me attitude, as if he was annoyed that I was not happy. He left my meal on the table and said that he would not charge me the meal. I had to ask for a box and took it along with me. On top of the that, the rice was tasteless... and quite boring. I don't know if it's the culture... but Yu's male Asian waiters just don't fly with me. To me, they come across too strong headed and dominant. I will not visit this place again. I'm done with Yu's. BAD SERVICE and TASTELESS FOOD.

I had decent food here in September of 2012, a couple of times, but since then I have tried 3 more times and each time I've been disappointed. Time to stop hoping it will be better and quit going.

I am shocked by the reviews! This place has very good food and good service. We have been to the restaurant a few times with our two children and have had food delivered to our home. In both scenarios the food has been delicious. Their drinks are very good as well. I would encourage you to stop by and make your own assessment and not be deterred by the comments below.

Great noodles and good service. When there on a Saturday morning thinking it was close because there was no one inside. But after we got our food, more and more people keep coming in. Their noodle are delicious, nice and fresh and CREWY. I love hand made noodle, and they don't fail at it. I would return for sure. Which I did, because I ended up leaving my wallet there and had to go back the next day to get it. Everything was there, and they even said they didn't open it. How nice of them for not having a field day with all my cards and saving me a trip to the DMV, and we all know what kind of trip that would be.

They hired a Taiwanese chef who is a bit of a celebrity in the Chicago Taiwanese American community in the last year - so be sure to order from their separate printed Taiwanese menu and don't come on a Wednesday (the day he takes off). 3 cup chicken, Taiwanese "chicken roll," seafood thickened soup, and Great Wall tofu are all outstanding. As in: this place would have 4+ stars on Yelp LA based on these dishes. Service is friendly and prompt. Ambience and decor are fantastic - classy but casual enough. I'm a bit puzzled by the lower starred reviews (I'm really picky about Chinese food - have lived in Vancouver and Taipei) but other reviewers might not know about the Taiwanese menu, are judging based on unauthentic dishes, or are ordering the foods they like at Yu's Schaumburg and are thus understandably disappointed.

Food: good Price: a little bit pricy compares with normal Chinese restaurant Distant: far Service: good Environment: good My boyfriend took me there because he wanted to try it again. He had it before, but he said only once and could not remember. We ordered fish casserole, spicy noodle, and Szechuan beff. The fish was really good and spicy I love it! But a little bit pricy. The spicy noodle was great! The noodle was chewy and tasty!( my bf loved it a lot!) Highly recommend it! If you love spicy! The beff was okay. Not a big fan. Overall was good!

My first one star review ever unfortunately. The only aspect I'll give this place credit for is that the atmosphere in the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. The place was about 70% full when we arrived. We were promptly seated and given our menus. It took at least 10-15 minutes from the time we sat down to get water. Once the waiter finally came we placed our order as fast as we could. My party ordered the lollipop chicken wings, szechuan beef, and the stir fried szechuan string beans. We waited around 35 minutes and the waiter never once came by to check up on us, and still we had no food. Finally he passed by us and at last we finally got his attention and asked if the food was coming out soon. He suddenly acted like we did something wrong and he copped an attitude with us. He then went back to the kitchen so my guess is he didn't even put the order in but i don't know. Around 15 min from that point the lollipop chicken wings arrived at our table piping hot. Unfortunately they were not good at all. They use extremely cheap wing meat and they were very small. And, their was probably more breading on them than meat ; the sauce on them was just okay. Mid way through eating the wings we hoped we would receive the rest of our food... The szechuan string beans and szechuan beef did come out till about 15 min AFTER we finished our wings! The worst part was that both dishes were room temp and had to sitting outside for quite a while. The string bean dish was quite good despite being cold and the beef was mediocre at best. And ofcourse it took a long time too to even get our check when we finished eating...Ive heard that this place does serve some good food like the noodles, so maybe we just didn't order the best items, but i'm not willing to go through service hell at this place to find out

Very disappointing. Recently moved to the area and went for a last minute dinner as we have been long time diners at Yu's in Schaumburg. Ordered the egg rolls which were small, unfilled, and they only had 1 tiny piece of carrot inside. The egg drop soup was warm and not hot, which defeats the purpose of hot soup on a cold winter night. I have come to Yu's Mandarin for Kung Pao Chicken for over 10 years and I will never go back. The lackluster quality at this location has ruined the memories of Yu's for me as this was mine and my fathers favorite lunch spot. Service was horrible and lead to my 1 star review. Our waiter failed to check on us and as I got up to find him and explained our displeasure with the egg rolls he indicated he could not remove the item from the bill but could offer us something different. Our main dish had arrived already and thus defeated the purpose of an appetizer. I will not be going back and hope that the Schaumburg Location is never this disappointing.

Pretty solid Chinese place for the burbs. We had a lot of the customary Mandarin (northern Chinese with some other regional dishes?) foods - cold veggie chicken, black bean clams, tofu, spicy boiled fish. Stuff I had a lot of as a kid. Good selection and pretty clean inside.

Terrible service. After ordering, we did not receive our food. The wait staff ignored us in spite of our approaching them for service. We left after waiting 90 minutes. Upon leaving, the hostess yelled at us for telling them we were given poor service.

I'm not quite sure why the stars for this restaurant are so low- therefore my hope is to give my two cents to the city of Westmont. The Lollipop Fried Chicken is delicious. They give you a generous portion and I'm pretty sure I could have eaten a whole plate by myself. (But if course, sharing is caring.) They were crunchy with a hint of spicy kick. I would definitely go for this if you want something filling and tasty. The Honey Glazed Walnut Shrimp was also pretty good. The majority of my group really enjoyed the Manila Clams/Flaming Wok. There were about a couple of dozen clams in the wok- a bit salty for my taste- but the rest of my group loved them. Make sure to order a bowl of rice to share. Service was attentive and overall experience enjoyable and satisfying. Plus, there's a $20 for $15 Yelp deal- thumbs up. I would definitely come back.

Much like the Schaumburg location, the food is outstanding, but the service is slow. Order an appetizer, because there's a good chance you'll be waiting for your food. But that honey walnut shrimp is the best I've ever had.

Beautiful restaurant -- nice bright vibrant colors, nice contrast of materials, great design to host tons of customers while keeping the noise level down through dividing them into small sections, tons of decorations, beautiful plates and serving dishes, thermal metal teapots, beautiful menu with tons of pictures -- all with a menu that has a wide variety of choices. Also add in food that is presented beautifully with tons of color, garnish, and nice themes. This sounds like the perfect ingredients for a perfect classy restaurant -- however now add in slow service, prices that are too high for the quality, and flavors that don't match the complexity of the dishes's presentation and you have a confusing 3-star restaurant. This is one of those restaurants that provides a nice introduction to more authentic Chinese for the Western palate -- but isn't as well designed as Panda Express for that purpose and isn't authentic enough for ones looking for exquisite regional cuisine. Here were my thoughts on the dishes I tried: Rice - A bit dry - also served in a very generic plastic bowl that you'd expect to see in a chop suey restaurant. Confusing as all the other dishes were served in very nice plates/bowls. Fish fillet with pickled cabbage and rice vermicelli in hot pot - Fish was tender, the broth had a good body to it without too much of a pickled cabbage flavor. Served very hot. Nice for a cold winter day. Three cups squid - Flavor was way too light and the dish itself was too sweet -- there should've been a strong taste of basil and soy in here but I really didn't get much of either. There was pepper and onion sauteed in this dish as well, but this barely contributed any flavor. Lollipop chicken wings - Crispy light batter with tender chicken. The sauce was like General Tso's with a hefty amount of honey added. Good flavor overall although I wish that the heat from the Szechwan chilis was a little stronger. Noodle Soup (non-spicy) - The homemade noodles were very nice (similar to Lu's), bouncy and flavorful with a generous amount provided. The dish also came with a good amount of seafood and meat that was cooked just enough to still be tender but not too soft. The broth could've used a bit more body though and was a little too sweet although the flavor of pork was distinct but not the seafood. Szechwan Beef - The beef wasn't crispy and had a very strong honey flavor with very light hints of other flavors like garlic and chili. Wasn't bad but wasn't good -- very similar to how most other restaurants make this dish. Only two restaurants I can think of (Sun Shui and Lao Sze Chuan) that have managed to prepare this dish well. I wouldn't mind going here if I was in the area but I'd probably go to Mapo or Lao Sze Chuan instead if given the choice. The higher prices and inconsistency in quality between dishes are enough of a reason to travel further. With that said, if the food is improved and the prices lowered slighty to match other similar restaurants - this place has the potential to be a favorite for Chinese Cuisine in the suburbs like its counterpart in Schaumburg. The food just needs to taste as good as it looks and the dining experience needs to match the quality of the interior decorations.

I live their homemade noodle... yummy.. for person who love noodle, it worth to try them. The egg yolk crab also good. The server also very helpful and always try to accomodate our request. Overal food is good but do not expect to have huge portion like other Chinese Restaurant.

I am surprised by the other reviews. I ate here 3 times so far and I was happy all three times. The food was good, our servers were friendly and accomodating, the place is very nicely decorated. There is a large selection on the menu, the items are priced well and they are delicious. I liked everything I ordered so far. The only thing I saw someone else mention as well was the pork in the shrimp pot stickers. But I wouldn't say it was bad. Yesterday my son asked for honey glazed walnut shrimp and I wasn't sure where I could find that. I went online to check the menu and I saw Yu's had it. Since I was already on-line I placed my order there for pickup. The web site never asked for the location so I called the number in the confirmation e-mail and said that I would like to pick up my order in Westmont. I was assured that it was not a problem. When I came to the restaurant my order was not there. I told the lady at the front desk what happened, who called the Schaumburg restaurant where my order was waiting. Ooops. She was very nice about it, apologized, and they prepared my food within 15 minutes to go. I have nothing but good things to say about this restaurant and will be coming back soon.

I feel like I ate at a totally different restaurant than the one reviewed here. I recently moved to the western burbs from the city and really struggled to find good Chinese food. Most of the food in the area are very "Americanized". Yu's was fresh, very flavorful and authentic. We started with egg rolls which were nothing special. For our entrees we had Kung Pao shrimp, which was the best I have every had. The Shrimp is wild caught and you can really taste the difference. We then had the sesame chicken which was all chicken breast. It was not overly battered and had a nice flavor, not to sweet. I work downtown and eat at a lot of Asian restaurants, this is the best in the western burbs I have had. Give it a try despite the other review, you will be back.

Well we stayed at the hotel across the street so we decided to dine in here. The rice I did not like. The orange chicken I didn't care much for. The egg rolls were nasty. My beer tasted old. Other than that very nice workers & a very nice set up. Would I go back? NO!

We very much wanted this place to be good - so needy of finding a good Chinese noodle place near where we live. Had craving for hand-pulled noodles and potstickers so we we gave Yu's another shot. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. The potstickers were not very good - the ratio of meat to wrapper was too skewed towards meat and all the potstickers were broken. We tried the dan dan style hand-pulled noodle. The noodles were nicely chewy and dense but the sauce was just a lot of blandness. A travesty actually, to cover those delicious noodles with such tasteless brown stuff. How about just tossing those freshly cooked noodles in the wok with some pork or beef and a little soy? How difficult is that? Our other choices weren't much better. Almost everything we ate suffered from the same blandness. The green onion pancake tasted store bought and was bland. The beef roll (slow cooked beef shank and the same green onion pancake) was bland and had an embarrassingly small amount of beef. The beef itself was tasty but there was simply not enough of it. The spicy green beans were competently done. The chicken wings were the only really tasty thing we ordered. For dessert, we were talked into trying the "8 treasure" sticky rice. This is a classic Chinese dessert. Unfortunately, I only counted 2 treasures ... red bean paste and raisins. Disappointing.

Decent place in the decaying International Mall block. They make their own dumpling and noodles, which is a plus. The spring onion pancake is pretty great too, not too heavy. They also make their own soy bean juice/soy milk, but only offer it sweetened. It's a little on the pricier side for Chinese food in the area, but still pretty good.

My friend and I went there yesterday to have dinner. We ordered spicy noodle soup (zzampong) and it smelled very strange similar to the smell when you use very old pork meat in a soup. I do not have any expertise to pinpoint where the smell came from but not a good experience. The server was kind so she replaced the food but the smell never gone. Do not recommend this place unless you are really hungry.

Hit or miss here. Been here twice for dinner now, and I'm still underwhelmed. The first time had me cursing over the slow service, the small portions, unremarkable flavors, and the high prices. A 3-hour ordeal in a non-European country or banquet is not the norm for me. All of us were starving, and each dish that trickled on our table was inhaled in a flash. I truly didn't think there was going to be a second time, but a friend had a birthday dinner there, so there I was again. This time the food was better, the service a little quicker, but only by a little, and the portion was still small and prices still high. Hopefully, this is just a rough opening for them as they are still pretty new. However, I will not be visiting again by choice.

Horrible service and extremely bland food makes for a poor dining experience. As my son so eloquently put it, "The napkins are tastier than the fried rice!" Skip this over priced restaurant and eat at the food court next door!

Went here with a co-worker for lunch a few weeks ago. I wanted to try this place out after it had changed ownership and was shutdown for a while. The decore and overall cleanliness was ok. Sat down and was brought out a couple of glasses of water. First glass had a couple of black spots on the inside. Told the waitress and she brought me another glass. The second glass clearly had lipstick on it like someone just took a sip from of it. When I told the waitress, she commented "Not all glasses can be clean." I said seriously and she walked away. I couldnt believe she just told me that. Then she brought me a tea glass filled with water and asked it was ok. I said I guess. At that point I had already ordered and wasnt sure what to expect with the food if the cleanliness of the glasses was any indication of an overall issue. Food came out and wasnt bad. The peas and carrots in the fried rice were still thawing. The kung pao chicken was actually pretty good. That is the only reason this place did not get 1 star. The egg roll was terrible and the soup was just ok and actually bland for something that is supposed to be hot and sour. I should have told the manager, but did not see anyone when I was leaving and had to get back to work. Not sure if I will be going back anytime soon. Was not a fan of the Yu's in Schamburg and this one seems worse. Not sure what the deal is with these Yu's restaurants.

  • Scotch E.

Get the Pot Stickers!!! A totally different scene from Yu's in Schaumburg, but not necessarily in a bad way. This Yu's is less family style with none of the lazy susans at the Schaumburg location. This Yu's feels more like a place to have a business lunch with a very modern interior. The food is still very good. We only have 3 entrees and an app, but it met my high expectations. Will definitely return again. Portions are very generous as well.

Yu's just lost a star. I've been here 3 times and the service gets worse each time. Though I love the food and it's priced well, the service will stop me from coming if this continues. The gentlemen next to us had the same trouble - I heard them ask for the manager because the server was so bad. Yu's!!! Work on this or you will start losing customers! We didn't get soup, had to stop him for chopsticks, refills, soy sauce (which never came) and the bill. Not impressed.

The decor is great as far as Chinese restaurants go, but the food doesn't stand up. They do have a separate dimsum chef who seems to know what they're doing. The xiao long bao (although they didn't call it that) soup dumpling had a juicy filling and thin wrapping. The scallion pancake was also yums. The main menu, though, was a disaster. Their 'headline dish' are noodles, but the zha jiang mian lacked flavor and was very basic. Also, the moment they brought out the lobster, we could tell that it was cooked improperly just by the color of the shell. It was probably deep fried prior to stir fry, which defeats the point of having a fresh lobster. Sure enough, the meat was chewy and overcooked, not to mention shriveled. The 2 veggies dishes we had were simple and straightforward - hard to mess it up - but the portion size was relatively small compared to the price. We won't be going back except for dimsum. The waiter did not seem knowledgeable at all - he didn't even know what was/wasn't on the menu!

  • J H L.

We tried it out again this weekend, and I am sorry to say it was disappointing. We ordered almost entirely from the dimsum menu this time. The soup dumplings were not nearly as good as they were before (with little soup), but the other items we ordered were fine. Unfortunately, we ended up with another hapless server. We waited at least half an hour for the first dish to appear. While waiting, we watched as the wrong food kept being delivered to nearby tables. Our waiter seemed overwhelmed with only 5-6 small tables. Diners in our section had to proactively grab staff in order to receive any help. In the end, we never received one of the dishes we ordered. The poor service made for an unpleasant dining experience, which we will not be in a hurry to repeat.

  • Donald L.

We were very disappointed in the dishes we ordered. They lacked flavor and were bland for Chinese cuisine. We ordered the shrimp and vegetable bun, but it contained unidentifiable meat filling. We ordered chicken with cashews, stir fried beans and the veggie noodle platter. Presentation was better than the taste. Soy and salty were the predominant flavors. The service was slow for the crowd on a Thursday evening. Our waiter was pleasant and did the best he could to serve the food whenever it was ready. The place itself is attractive...just wish the food were tastier.

I ordered the Genera Tso Chicken lunch special . Lunch special was $7.95 plus tax and delivery($3.00) so after tip I spent $13.95 for lunch. When they first opened in Westmont , with the lunch special you recieved soup and an egg roll, so the price had justification. This is not the case anymore. You get a container of meat and rice and this is it! The food was horrible , not even edible. I cut every piece of chicken open looking for something I could eat and there was nothing but sinewy brownish color so called meat. So for almost $14.00 I had so so white rice for lunch . Was a huge disappointment. Will never ever order from them again!!!

Service was inattentive. Dishes were dirty. Food was put together carelessly. ... Decor was nice. We ordered xiao long bao which broke as we tried to get them off the paper. Very sad. The noddles were good but portioned incorrectly versus the other ingredients in the dish. The hand shredded pancake was good. The general lack of care makes me think the management is just looking for another revenue stream.

I ordered the fish filet with picked cabbage, which is smelly, cuz the fish is not fresh. Pork and veggie bun is not authentic and taste like frozen bun. The lollipop chicken is ok. Westlake beef soup is fine. Do not ever order the crabmeat and pork steamed bun, it sucked. Definitely not come back again.

Just happen to stop by one day with my friends and man the food is delicious ! I couldn't get enough.. The spicy noodle was great! The noodle was chewy and tasty!( my bf loved it a lot!) Highly recommend it! If you love spicy! The beff was okay. Not a big fan. Overall was good!

This is literally the first place I've ever been to where I had to send food back to the kitchen. I ordered a curry chicken which I've always had good experiences with but this was just terrible. It tasted like processed chicken thrown in hot water with some seasoning and vegetables thrown in the mix. The second time around, it tasted like they just threw some ginger in. The manager talked to me condescendingly about it like I had an alterior motive and seemed like she was trying to put me at fault. I can't recommend this place in the slightest.

Good to decent food, prices are decent. We only ended up here because the Pappadeux was packed and had a crazy 2 hour wait. The service is okay, but as previous reviews stated the older lady manager is rude. She came to check on us, after the 30 minute wait for our food in which we asked her for hot oil. She made a face at us and then walked off to get it. Good thing my husband didn't notice otherwise it would have been a problem. Not worth the drive for us in the end.

I've been going to this location for lunch every week or so since it opened and the quality has consistently been on a steady decline. The people are nice for the most part but the quality of the meat / food is where things get sketchy. Meat is often undercooked, has hair, or insects... This location is nowhere near the quality food being served at the Schaumburg location. I think the owners need to spend more time working in the restaurant and teaching the waitstaff how to wait tables. Ex. Yelling in the middle of the restaurant during meals can't be acceptable.

If you're looking for upscale Chinese food and a nice environment, this place is it. I've been coming here for almost a year. Quality food. The weekday lunch special is a great value. Great food can only take you so far. The service is just as good. Our favorite waitress is ANGIE. She is knowledgeable and great with our kids, as well as fast! Very good restaurant. Highly recommend the Noodle Platter, but make sure to order it mild, because it's very spicey. Im a regular here. Great place.

The food was horrible and the service was horrible, asked for water for four times and didn't get it even after I left, I waited for the food for a long time, and it's so disgusting. After I was finished with the food, which was sickening, the waitress didn't give me a check until I asked for it for about 6 or 7 times, and I had to stand up to give the check to the waitress, and it looks like they don't even care what you think.

The food is absolutely great. We were a party of 10 and all agreed our food was fresh, tasty and hot. The only downside was the wait. The service was odd. I went here Saturday after checking the website to view their lunch times and lunch specials. It was only 1pm. I was with my mother, teenage son, and nine year old. When we sat down at the table, we were given menus with no lunch specials mentioned. I asked a man for the lunch special menu, and he walked away to get them. After getting them, he went to talk to a co worker and disappeared. A few minutes later, the waiter came to take our order. I told the waiter we were waiting for the lunch menu. He said there was no lunch specials on Saturday. I told him the website said so and asked for a manager. An older female woman came over and I explained what the website said. She asked that I show her. I pulled up the website on my phone and showed her. She then claimed that that was not their website. I said yes it is and showed her the address and same name. She said they have had a problem with copycat websites making things up. I was not going to argue with this woman that was clearly lying to me, because this was the right website. We simply got up to leave and she had no problem with that. I was appalled and will never come here again. I had only ordered take out from here once and the food was good, but the prices were high for the little portions they give u. I never had their lunch special so we thought we'd try. If u r in the area, ur better off going elsewhere where customers are treated better.

went to Yu's in Westmont for lunch, and this food is average. Fried rice has frozen peas...ick and bottled mushrooms double ick! Head west down Ogden a few miles more and try Lao Sze Chuan. This restaurant is exceptional!!! I actually crave some of theirfood. The Lemon Chicken is like nothing you have ever tried, get a side of pineapple fried rice...to die for! This is top notch food and made with love and care for tradition, and it shows in every bite!

We came in for lunch and really liked the freshness of the servings here. I'd go with 4.5 stars. The noodles are nice and fresh, as were the siu long bao (juicy and broth filled Shanghai pork dumplings - a signature item). We had the noodle platter for $9 - a very generous stack of moderately spicy seafood, pork and veggies, on a delectable generous bed of freshly hand-made noodles. They have an open kitchen and you can see the staff at work. Decor is nice, new, and clean, as this place (the ex Triple Crown) was just re-opened under new management in August. I also liked the large tables for two or four, no cramming of plates here. We'll be back - I think you can rely on high quality Mandarin here. Service and attention were good too. They had a flat screen with sports on as well, if that's any extra enticement.

Have you ever heard the expression, "screw me once shame on you, screw me twice shame on me?" This place defines that saying. We have been here 3-4 times since my first review. Sometimes it was take out and other times dine in. The moral of the story is that it is never the same twice. -complete lack on consistency. Tonight's fare was the straw that broke the camel's back. Never again. There was a lack of flavor in both entrees. In the past they were spicy and flavorful. Today it was just bland and boring. If I had to guess, it was prob leftovers from the weekend. Consider yourself warned...

I ordered from Yu's for lunch, before reading the reviews and realizing that they are affiliated with the Yu's in Schaumburg, which has really gone downhill. Needless to say, I was terrified. The delivery took longer than estimated, and I didn't appreciate that the restaurant called me to make sure I meant to say I'd be paying cash, and that I really did have cash on me. That was of putting. When the food did arrive, however, it was delicious, and a huge portion! I can easily get three meals out of the amount of food I received. I ordered the noodle platter, because it's very difficult for me to pass up homemade noodles. After taking a few bites I knew this was the real deal. The noodles were fresh and tender, with big chunks of seafood (shrimp, scallops and squid) as well as pork and vegetables. Spicy, but not overwhelming. I'm not going to run out to order from them again because it took so long (1.5 hours) but the flavors were spot on.

We love this place because of their great food, well at least our favorite dishes to order every time we eat here. Mongolian beef, honey walnut , beef with snow peas, shrimp, noodle platter and the noodle soup. They are excellent. What i don't like sometimes is their service. Very inconsistent and hurried at times. You order soup and you have to ask for bowls, they give you bowls then you have to ask for spoons. We've had a few of our family gatherings here and the service was mediocre. We went this weekend to celebrate a 40th birthday with 25 guests. We called for reservations a week before, we pre-ordered our food and yet we waited for almost an hour for our dinner to be served. The waiter served us one dish and had the nerve to say " why are you guys not eating yet." We never heard an apology, they gave us 15% discount but not worth it. Our guests were starving by the time they served us dinner. I love their food but i'm not going to settle for bad service.

I came here with a co-worker. The hostess and servers were all very nice throughout our meal. We ordered xiao long bao, a new dish- tofu with mushrooms, beef with flat rice noodles, and crispy duck. My lemonade was an extremely bright yellow which was odd but it tasted pretty good. The xiao long bao was pretty good. The tofu with mushrooms was absolutely DELICIOUS!!!!! The texture and taste of the tofu was amazing! The beef with flat rice noodles was okay... and I was not a fan of the crispy duck. Too much bone and not that much flavor. I'd definitely go back for the tofu with mushrooms!

I would describe this place as a Chinese place gone classy (but not overly so). My table got the egg yolk crab, double stir fried string beans, shrimp dumplings (which unfortunately also contained pork for some reason), veggie egg rolls, and mai cai (spelling?) pork. Everything was pretty good, but nothing too out of what you'd normally find at a Chinese restaurant. Although, the egg yolk crab was something different - think deep soft shell crab except it's not a soft shell - if you don't mind working for your food, it's definitely worth a try. What I really like about this place is that they make everything from scratch there, and you can tell. Portions are also pretty good!

This place just opened up where Triple Crown and Mala used to be. My boyfriend is a huge fan of Chinese food, so we decided to give it a go. Upon entering, the decor is so much more inviting and beautiful than the past Chinese restaurants that used to be here. Many Chinese restaurants feel the need to overuse the color red and mahogany so that their ambiance is very dark and dim. However, Yu's is cream and black based with the only touch of red being the carpet. Our server was friendly, though his English was a little broken. For drinks we ordered the Zombie and the Blue Lotus. I wasn't really a fan of either drink. For appetizers we ordered the appetizer sampler. I enjoyed all five things that it came with. For food we ordered the Rainbow Chow Mein, Mongolian Three Ingredients, and Schezwan Beef. Both my boyfriend and I liked the beef the most. The other two dishes were good, but nothing special. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here, and I liked the food, but I am not rushing to go back.

My family and I have been to Yu's enough times where I feel I can write an informed review by describing the place as mediocre. The ambiance is nice, clean - something you don't see in many Chinese restaurants. We figure the nice ambiance is worth the higher price point. As far as the food, it seems unreliable. One day it is to die for, the next day not so good. The service is lacking. Twice now we've had episodes where my husband was burned with a food tray by a hurried waiter. Other times we've just sat there and waited for service for a while. The place is never packed, so it just seems that the staff is not very well organized to cater to diners. Waiters also have forgotten part of our order more than once. Even with a discount card we received after our last visit, we will not be going back.

Mmm.. a bit inconsistent than their Schaumburg location but maybe it's improving? I've been to this location maybe a total of 4 times in the past 6 months. The ambiance and decor sure outdid their other location. Great for large groups. I love their Salt & Pepper smelt... cuz i LOVE Fishy Fish. Their Jjajamyun is ok... might not order from here again. I like their new additional menu items that they've added like some northern Chinese items on a separate laminated menu with pictures. I haven't noticed anything so bad that I wouldn't come here again but I'm always satisfied so no complaints. We like the cold beef that's served with cucumber, not sure of its name. I'm so bad with food names. Sometimes though they don't seem very busy and it takes forever to get a water refill.

We used to live in Hoffman Estates and ate at Yu's Mandarin in Schaumburg twice a month. We loved the food there but it hasn't been the same since new owner took over. Food has gone down hill ever since and this new one opened in Westmont is even worse. We ordered three dishes and all I can taste was salt over salt. Way too salty, unable to taste anything else. We were in and out about 45 mins. Neither of us could eat the food so we decided just take it to go and maybe we'll try to salvage it at home by adding something. Never will go back to this place again.

As oppose to your typical Chinese place, Yu's was spacious, welcoming with nice decor and clean. There looked to be some section that may be used for Karoake to the left. We were seated in the right section of the restaurant. Overall, I would describe the food as ok and nothing above the standard Chinese fare. In fact, I think there are probably better menu items elsewhere. I'd lean away from ordering appetizers as we had the potstickers and they were, eh. I have probably made better ones myself. The star and probably saving grace are the homemade noodle dishes, which you can tell are better quality. We also tried the xiao long bao, which I'd give about 4 stars. It was good and probably the only better ones I had were in Chinatown (in Chicago and NYC). The service was pretty good, however, the waitress had different taste in food than I would choose so I stuck with my gut instinct and it paid off on the 2 orders of noodles. I would recommend the Noodle Platter. Also, not sure if it makes a difference but we went on a Saturday night and I do find that items tend to be a bit more fresh on the weekends. Also, for the Chinese food fare, it is a bit pricey. I am not sure I would have gone here without a Yelp deal.

There is nothing like finding a place with authentic Chinese food. I come here on a regular basis and try a plurality of dishes and have not had a single complaint yet. The service is great and all the servers are extremely knowledgeable and will help find the perfect dish for you. Don't be scared to go out of the box of typical Chinese food and venture out into something Yu's has to offer! Great authentic interior look ... this place is the real deal!!!

Yu has one of the best Chinese food in the suburb. The price is reasonable. The place is beautifully decorated. I would have given them 5 stars if their waiters smile a bit. I don't know why these Chinese waiters always act like a robot. No emotion. No smile. It's ok if they work in a factory. However when you interact with customers, a simple smile goes a long way... Their food is really good tho.

I've had two experiences with this restaurant and the second one is what really brought it down to 2 stars instead of 3. The time I went there for lunch, the dishes were acceptable and the service was decent. I went there again for dim sum on a Sunday and the service/kitchen took a real dive. We ordered a few basic dishes and one or two entrees. All in all it took about 35-40 min after we initially ordered for us to get our final dish. In fact we had to get them to wrap up the last dishes since they were taking so long. I'm not sure what happened, as it seemed that the kitchen was completely overwhelmed by perhaps 10-12 tables (maybe 30% full). The dim sum was a bit below standard with some of the dishes being overcooked (falling apart when trying to eat them) and other dishes just not having the right taste. Good for lunch specials, not so good for the dim sum.

Well above average food and value with unique, in a good way, service. Tucked away behind a plaza but next to a hidden gem of a Chinese market, I will be taking my family here when convenient. Cleaner than most large Chinese restaurants with a better quality food than the majority.

Nothing really fascinating but much better than most places. The decor is really nice and the food is adequate. Could be better.

Beware, customers! We had a horrible experience dining here tonight. We had a Yelp coupon, but the female manager refused to redeem it. Yelp coupon's instruction clearly states that we either print out the voucher, or simply show the voucher to the business owner. We chose the latter method, to which the manager replied that we had to find some kind of button that marks the voucher as used. We were confused at first since Yelp did not provide such information. We have used Yelp coupons at other locations and never encountered such problem. We asked what they would do if we had printed the coupon out. She said they would staple it with the receipt. So we then asked why she couldn't just write down our voucher code, sign it, and do the same? She said it was because we might use the coupon again. First of all, that does not make any sense - people could "reuse" the printed coupon also if the business owner doesn't redeem it properly. It is the responsibility of the business owner to make sure the coupon has been redeemed. Second, I find it incredibly offensive that she would think we would "reuse" this coupon. We stated these facts, but she kept repeating that that was what the owner wanted, and that we should just pay the full amount now, and come back later with the coupon on another occasion. If making sure the coupon is redeemed is such a hassle, she needs to find another job. There could have been plenty of other options to accommodate us. I tried calling Yelp but they don't respond by phone, and she just stood there ignoring us for 30 minutes when it should have been her responsibility to take care of this issue. I used to be a regular here, but suffice it to say I am NEVER EVER going back. I can't believe she treated us like that. That is not logical thinking, not good customer service, and just bad business.

Eating lunch here is much more enjoyable than my last dinner experience. The portion was huge and tasted great too. Maybe I was really hungry this time? Both of our dishes came out great. The sichuan fish fillet was nicely presented with green beans. Tasty and spicy. The Korean Chili noodle was HUGE. That was my favorite one from their Schuamburg location. This one tasted as good as I remembered. I loved all big chunky seafood in that as well. For $8.5, I could have this everyday. The service was outstanding this time. The lobby was also packed this time but the dishes came out very quickly. And there was no issue when we canceled the steamed bun order as we got more than enough food from our lunch dishes. Yep, let's go for lunch next time!

I have been a huge fan of yu's forever. Needless to say this restaurant has the worst service EVER. They had two waiters serving the whole restaurant the last time i was there. Are u kidding me?? I timed it ... it took 10 mins to get the menu, another 10 for water, another 10 to place an order, who knows how long to get the food, ...the best part ... one of the entrees showed up after we were done eating. I love their food but i can't do it anymore.

I love this place! I have no idea why this place doesn't have more stars. I read some of the reviews and the fact that people don't know the different between different Asian cuisine shouldn't be reviewing at all. The food is plentiful and the prices are very reasonable. The authentic dishes are the best here! If you haven't order off that menu, do so! The noodle platter is so good and flavorful and they give you plenty! I always have leftovers! The lollipop chicken is one of my favorites and have the perfect crisp. Steamed fish is delicious! The waiters are always super friendly. The decor is really nice as well. I'm a regular!

Service is great, staff friendly, nice intimate place with nice table settings and delish smells wrapping through my senses...not to mention they serve adult beverages!! Beer & Mandarin yummies...perfect match for a long day of making art!!!

The food is absolutely great. We were a party of 10 and all agreed our food was fresh, tasty and hot. The only downside was the wait. The service was odd. Our plates came out one by one with 5-10 minute delays. Wait staff was pleasant, tho. I would definitely put up with the wait again for the atmosphere and food.

Affordable and the food is tasty, but service is awful. Server was rude, inattentive. Other servers paid more attention to us than she did.

NO!

Portions are also pretty good!

went to Yu's in Westmont for lunch, and this food is average.

Beef stickers and green tea......Yum! What a fun way to warm up a cold, cold, Chicago night. Beautiful, upscale Asian décor, varied menu for all tastes. Will definitely try it again soon.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
