This place had the absolute worst service ever. We came in to a packed restaurant. But waited twenty minutes for service despite most tables having been served already. The food was good but inaccurate according to what was ordered. People were served who came in afterwards. I don't want to say this was racial but all involved were not like me or my party. HOPE YOUR EXPERIENCE IS BETTER!!! Really? We have to go to the counter to get the check too? Management? Corporate? Somebody give me answers!!!

So last Saturday midnite around 12:30am we're out of junk food so i went to this place thinking that I could get some nice burger and fries..... NO, no nice burger / nice fries, even the coke taste strange (a taste between fake coke + pepsi ughhhjj). Ordered a melt sandwich, it was COLD?!?!?! The meat and cheese was just disgusting. The fries were warm, not fresh, no flavor no nothing. I threw them away. The Oktoberfest burger was slightly better, at least it tasted OK, so we shared this burger together. I added two pieces of chocolate cookies along with my order. Terrible taste. Soft and verrrrrrry sweet. I have no idea - does american all soft-super sweet-cookies lover? But i hate it. I would not want any food from this place even it's free. Sorry, for being mean, but that was my experience just couple days ago.

WORST SERVICE EVER!!!!!!!! I can't even handle how awful this place is, they are rude they don't say hi or thank u. He closed the window before I was even finished askin a question messed up my order which was so easy and I repeated it 5 times. Fast food people want more money per hour? Now I know that reataurants have off nights, but this was totally unacceptable. My friends and I came after homecomig to grab a bite to eat. We were seated promptly, but it took a half hour- 45 mins JUST TO GET OUR MENUS! Alright that's strike one. We ordederd our food... And we didn't see our food or waitress for about an hour.. It literally took an hour to bring 6 milkshakes and 2 burgers and 2 chicken nugget meals.. The only good side was the food was pretty damn good, but the service was horrible.. We'll give you another chance Steak and Shake. Hopefully better next time.

Like others have said....you been to one Steak N Shake you've been to them all. The only reason I bothered to review this was the service, which was poor. The server almost didn't speak at all and when she did it was so soft and grunting you could barely understand her. She never checked on us and we never got anything...like napkins or silverware....unless we asked for it. When she brought it she'd literally just drop it on the table without a word. It's not like the place was busy either: I saw her chatting by the order window while one of our meals sat there dying in the window for 5 minutes. I literally thought she might have a problem socializing with people. She eventually came by and said if she's acting off it's because she's been there three hours and she's already going crazy. I appreciate the honesty but is that something you really want to tell customers? All in all it was Steak N Shake food. Decent. I didn't downgrade the rating based on the poor service since everyone can have an a off day. Food delivery was also exceptionally slow compared to other Steak N Shakes. I'll probably try again but the service in the West Chicago one is much better.

Once again I was very unimpressed with the service. Only one wait person...and he lacked any kind of training. I ordered the chili Mac and a salad. The chili Mac came, no salad. So I asked the waiter to cancel it and he said , oh, no, the are making it right now. HUH? I insisted it be canceled and he left. He came back a few seconds later to see if I still wanted it. This is not the first time...what is it about steak and shake that they cannot conceive that the salad should come before the main course. So there were 4 or 5 people roaming around, but no one could or would help this poor waiter? I suppose it wasn't their job to help him serve the customers. A perfect example of how processes and policies get in the way of serving customers. Good luck with that! Went again tonight. They have redeemed themselves somewhat. All n all it was a good experience.

Came here with the BF several months ago after adopting my little puppy Rambo. We wanted a quick place to go for dinner and since this place was walking distance from my house, we decided to come here. This is the first time I have been to this location and only my 2nd time to any "Steak and Shake" restaurant. The first time I went to one with a couple of my friends, I did not have a good experience so I said never again would I step into another one of those "Steak and Shake" places again. Fast forward several month, I decided to break that promise as I knew my BF loves Steak and Shake. So coming to this place I was not expecting very much at all and prepared for the worst. I was on the hungry side so I ordered the Patty Melt with fries and soda, while my BF ordered the double burger and fries with an Oreo Cookie shake (I think). I was pleasantly surprised how friendly the staff were and how fast we got our food. To my surprise, my Patty Melt came out perfectly and my fries were perfectly seasoned like Mcdonald's. Although I wish they put more fries on my plate then this skimpy serving. Of Course my BF enjoyed his burger and shake. Overall, I was very happy with the food, and the service. I was especially happy when we got the bill which only came out to $12 not including tip. I didn't realize you can get really good fast food and such affordable prices. This place rekindled my interest for Steak and Shake and I will definitely come back again with my BF.

Perhaps I just visited on a bad day, but my food was not worth the money or the effort involved in getting to Steak n Shake. I ordered the chocolate peppermint shake and it had a few chocolate flakes in it, here and there, and there was no peppermint flavor to speak of at all. In addition to this, the mushroom and swiss burger I ordered barely had any mushrooms or swiss on it, making it more sad than satisfying. If you are looking for a mushroom and swiss burger save yourself the heartache of a sad burger and go to Culver's. Might as well get the shake there, too!

I must say I was impressed! me and my daughter went here for breakfast and I must say the the food was delish! We had the ALL YOU CAN EAT pancakes and I had a skillet, I love that they really cook the food! its not microwaved! the service was superb.

I've been to many different Steak 'n Shakes, but this one was probably the best one in terms of service. The food is basically the same no matter which one you go to, but the service seems to be the defining factor. The staff here were extremely nice and accommodating. Everything was fast and on point. No problems at all! I'll be coming back when I'm in the area.

Coming in for Sunday "lunch", place was appropriately clean, and there were a decent amount of customers seated (not entirely full though). They are pretty quick getting their food out. Our server Tyra was pretty fantastic. She seemed to be pretty upbeat. She checked up on us 5 times throughout the entire meal (including taking our order and delivering the check). Burgers were a bit greasy as expected. I had the Royale and he had the Friscomelt, none of which you should even bother counting the calories on... it's clearly through the roof. That was accompanied by the strawnilla shake. There are those days that you just crave it, and on those days I don't have a problem with it. Here's one of those places where you know it's a bad idea to go because it is "upscale" fast food, but you do anyway because you're hungry or want something to snack on. With that mentality, any Steak and Shake does the job.

I. Love. This. Place. I used to live right nearby, and this is such a great place to come in for a late night bite, just a couple shakes with friends, or a really, really good dinner. The staff are always so friendly, they are always willing to do whatever it takes to make you happy.
