Great location. Large seating area with a Drive-Thru. Very Clean. Have not had Portillo's in a few years...so I came ready to eat. I was so excited I forgot to take pictures. I had the Italian Beef Dipped. It was huge, in fact there was so much meat I had to take some off! Very filling. Other stand outs were the Chili Dog, Onion Rings, and Chocolate Cake. This location had plenty of friendly and helpful workers.

Kinda sub-par Portillo's experience! My beef was made incorrectly (I paid for the peppers - where were they?) and kid 1 thought her burger sucked enough that she insisted that I try a bite to see how tasteless it really was. The wait for food didn't match the line at all and it was freezing in the place. So...why did I still give them four stars? Mainly because I love their Italian Beef sandwiches! If you've never been to a Portillo's location, this is what you need to order: beef with hot and sweet. If you want it messy, add "dipped" to your order. Holy crap...would you guys please just hurry up and open a location in STL already?!?

Authentic original chicago style food! Visit whenever I can. Will satisfy your needs and memories

Love love love portillos! Back in the day, when I would come home from military leave, we would take the 4 hour (round trip) visit to portillos. Have been so happy that they have the shore wood location now. I'm a bit nervous with these reviews saying that the quality has gone down. But, my parents just brought me some portillos , from shorewood to ocean city and even with them being 4 days old when I took the first bite, they were still just as I remembered. Excited to get in store and see if the experience is still as good as the past now that they have new owners.

Good food, love the salads, tasty beef sandwiches too. Always awesome.

  • Tim T.

Really really dissapointed! Size has gone down. Portions smaller. Prices have gone way up. Quality still good but diminished a bit. Don't know what to say. I was at the Darien store recently & it seems to be chainwide. Id say don't go as much. Start patronizing the mom & pop shop a bit more maybe a drop if business may occur. People seem happy w/ less food & a higher bill. Wonder how long that will fly? But Portillos has name recognition. Theres always people who've never been there. Hope things chg soon. I can find similar for better price elsewhere.

Italian beef with sweet and hot peppers (giardina) and extra dip. As good as it gets and I've had Al's Beef, Mr. Beef and Pip's. The polish had a great snap and full flavor. The only drawback was the fries as they came from a frozen bag but they were cooked well.

Late night racing showed up 10:58 served our team of 9 very impressed with service Food of coarse was great didn't rush us very nice to have a good meal after a long day....

The food is very good. The service is very poor!!! The drive thru service is horrible!!! Your order is read back to you 3-4 times but they either get your order wrong or they forget items. If you go in and ask for a manager they won't come out of the back office!!! THEY WILL NOT REFUND YOUR MONEY EVEN THOUGH THEY FORGOT ITEMS ON YOUR ORDER!!!

I heard a chorus of angels the other the sound of my masticating the beef-n-cheddar croissant sandwich. You need this in your life

  • M D.

The beef sandwiches are still the best, but the salads are going downhill. The chicken is chunked frozen, yuck :-( and had a slime on it..... avoid anything that has chicken. The lettuce has too many white thick spines, conveniently placed on the bottom layer. I tend to prefer actually fresh cooked, grilled chicken like Chili's serves, a much better salad. It's too bad because the other ingredients make a tasty salad and the chicken ruins it. The menu changes, so if you're ordering from an online menu best to call first to see if item is still on menu. Service waiting time getting slower in drive-thru so we usually go inside to order because it's faster. This restaurant needs a better management system.

Obviously always a winner. Italian beef is my go to. I like the giant goblets of beer. Or should i say schooners. I'm not a hot dog guy but I had a bite of one and it was really good. I actually might get one next time I'm in. If I can manage to not get Italian beef. Lol

Getting worse! I used to LOVE Portillo's. I keep giving this particular location a 2nd, 3rd, 4th chance. No joke: On each of the 4 times I've been to this location in the last, say, eight weeks --- the order is bad. Something is wrong. requiring me to return and get it re-made. Of course, what's happening to the rest of your order? It's getting cold. This place has jumped the shark. I am convinced they are unable execute a decent meal anymore, their prices are the highest (for junk food) and the wait time is too long. On Oct 25th, I sent a message to -- portillos.com/contact -- and received no reply. The website must be for show only. This company has changed for the worst. Big time.

  • Ed B.

Best fast food on the planet. I hope that doesn't change once the new owners take over. Capital management groups have a tendency to purge all the quality out something good in favor of higher profits. I recommend everything, but my favorites are the Italian beef, the salads, and of course the hot dogs.

    (5)
  • Anastasia Z.

Quality has fallen to the point I don't recognize the restaurant. Ordered cheese fries and the fries and cheese were in separate containers with a small portion of unreal cheese. Beefs are fatty and quality is just not there.

  • Vicky W.

First off let me say that I'm not one to write reviews for many places because everyone is entitled to an off day and I don't see a reason to judge based on that. With that being said I have been trying to get a chicken sandwich from this location for weeks and I'm met with "we don't have any chicken" yet you have salads with chicken in them...When I called to inquire I was told they have no ETA on getting chicken in stock. How do you have a restaurant that serves the staples of burgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches and beef sandwiches and not offer one of the main items? By disappointment is beyond words at this point because they not only have lost the quality of their food and raised their prices but now you don't even have the one thing I actually want. Get it together Portillo's or you will lose this customer for good.

  • Monica B.

I hate to say it but this place is way overrated! My hotdog was okay but the skin surrounding the meat was tough making it hard to chew and bite into. The fries were overdone and brown. I think they really don't pay attention to quality anymore because they are so popular. I won't be back in the summer at all because I'd rather go to ace drive in on 30 in joliet for the homemade root beer and the dogs and fries are really good there too! I'll add a star cause portillos roast beef sandwich is really good!

    (3)
  • Shekky G.

I don't know if its the new ownership or what but not as good as it used to be. Quality of stuff like fries and rings and Italian sausage doesn't seem the same and prices have gone up a lot as well. Got a beef combo the other day and it was light on the beef so I went up to get a little more and the manager gave me some lip that it was made how it was supposed to be- I mean, come on, I shell out $12 and the guy has to give me some grief? If it weren't for the kids liking it I wouldn't go back any time soon. Used to be a pleasure to go- not any more.

  • Zach Z.

If you have not been to a Portillos you are really missing out!!! Great everything!!! Hotdogs are out of this world, Italian beef is second to none...add some cheese fried, chocolate cake or a milkshake and you wont be able to walk when your done! :) They also have salads and veggie options. Ohh and a few beers on tap. An absolute must visit place if you are in the chicagoland area. Great for groups and they are super fast as well, dont be intimidated if you see a line, you wont wait long.

  • Samantha G.

Get a chocolate cake shake and wait for your mind and taste buds to be blown away! The food here for me is so-so, but that shake keeps me coming back. Side note: never order a large! It's like 32 oz or something. It's delicious, but that's waaaay too much cake shake for anyone!

  • Kevin B.

Portillos embodies everything that is great about Chicago. Yes, I realize that there are Portillos outside of Chicago-land. But who cares about those places!? The service, the set up, the food, everything about this place takes you back to a simpler time. A fair word of caution, the dogs are a touch expensive, considering that I'm a small dude and I could probably down at least 2-3 in a sitting and still be hungry. At just a bit under $3 for the jumbo, I usually spend a lot when I come through this joint. But I'm rarely disappointed. One final note, they have a drive through that goes all In N Out during the busy times of day, with folks out there taking orders on their tablet-esque, order-taking things. I only mention this because drive through hot dogs might be the best idea since drive through hamburgers. Enjoy!!

  • Kayla K.

First of all I would like to say I love Portillos. Come here especially for the ribs. However the service at this establishment today was terrible. Waited in the drive thru for 35 minutes for two meals. I understand they were busy however they had me pull up to a parking spot to wait for my food. The lady could tell I was beyond pissed when she finally brought me my $50 dinner. She apologized for the long wait.. Well why didn't you tell me there would be a 45 minute wait on ribs?! I would have ordered something else.. Unbelievable

    (2)
  • Ryan H.

Ok, well. I thought about if Portillo's was a 5 star establishment and decided that in it's category it is definitely top notch. I have eaten here hundreds of times in my life and... well you know what... If you have never been here just stop what you are doing and go. Then go again the next day and try something else on the menu because everything is done right. Nobody is perfect, but they are damn efficient, fast, and accurate for as many people as they serve FRESH food to each day. A line around the block at drive-thru is common but nothing to be scared of because you will have your food in no time. GO! Favorite meal: Big Beef with giardiniera and drowned in au jus, ordered as "Big Beef, Hot, Dipped" Fries Strawberry Milkshake Followed by a nap and liposuction 2nd goto order is bacon cheeseburger.

Such good food and I love the environment and the scenery that was inside I felt like I was back in the older times but with better food and speed of getting my food was probablly under two minutes

I've been going to Portillos for years I use to live in Lombard,il we would drive to the original one in villa park.they have the best beef sandwiches I every had .tried pops Resturant beef they come close be nothing beats Portillos. They chocolate cake is one best cake I ever had. My mom loves there eclair cake there fries better then mcdonalds. They have good hard working and friendly people there too .

  • Angela B.

    C'mon, who DOESNT like Portillo's?!

    (5)
  • Kyle M.

I love portillo's. Great food as always. But of the many locations I have been to, this location has the slowest drive thru with employees that have an attitude problem. Just moved to the area and I cannot seem to get through this drive thru in less than 25 minutes. Which is ridiculous.

    (2)
  • Evelyn H.

The best place to eat in Shorewood Area! You can tell just by looking at the line at the drive thru. Everything is great from salads to burgers I just wish they'd have a barnellis inside, then it'd be perfect!

    (4)
  • Amy W.

Maybe I should have stuck with the "go to" everyone raves about (hot dog, Italian beef, chocolate shake), but I chose the Italian sausage. Big mistake. First -- waaay too much bread, plus it was soggy and not the kind I want paired with my Italian sausage (t's a crusty bread for a French Dip/Italian Beef sandwich) Second -- the poor sausage was charred & dry. Overcooked was an understatement. Looked like it might have had good flavor if prepared properly. Too bad I was already travelling down the interstate by the time I discovered this. I might have been able to get the staff (seemed nice) to swap for something edible. I took one bite, put it back in the bag, and trashed it when I got home. Major disappointment, because of the food quality, but it was worse because of all the hype this place got before I tried it.

Have eaten at this Portillo's MANY times over the years. Have always thought the drive thru service was great. Up until a few months ago, I never experienced an issue with my order being incorrect. I work two minutes from this location and occasionally hit the drive thru for lunch because I only get 1/2 hour. The line is always long and slow so I have just enough time. The first time I ordered my usual chopped salad and it come WITHOUT the chicken, I was ticked! I got all the way back to work with my $8+ salad and no chicken. I called and complained and was told that if I come back, they will give me one with chicken. Lunch hour was over. Couldn't do it. I didn't go back for about a month. Went to the drive thru, ordered my salad, and idiot me, didn't look in the bag. Get back to my office, no CHICKEN! This time I did go back and get the correct salad. What's interesting is, my co-worker had this happen to him recently as well. So today, I go to the drive thru (now it's been a couple of months since the last chicken-less salad episode) and I order my usual. Again....I'm confident in their ability to get this right so I drive off back to my office. AGAIN, NO CHICKEN!!!!! So I called) and talked to the manager who apologized and credited my credit card. Once I began eating this chicken-less salad, I noticed that they are no longer using real bacon in the salad but imitation bits that are very hard and chewy. Just don't know what has happened to my favorite fast food restaurant. It's sad because there are few offerings in this area. But unfortunately, I'm done ordering chopped salads, or anything else for that matter, at this highly overpriced, slow drive-thru mess of a restaurant. I know a lot of people love Portillo's so I hope that they can improve. Until then, I'm moving on the Jersey Mike's. They are awesome - completely different from Portillo's but a great option in this area.

This is truly the In n Out of Hot Dogs. Since they added a place to Buena Pak, CA I have elevated this food to ambrosia like status. This location was right where it needed to be as my workmates and I made our way back to downtown. The Italian beef was fabulous and the "dip" was more like a "soak". So friggin greasy good. The chicago dog was a friggen mess in my wrapper but I still inhaled it....

    (5)
  • Judy A.

I have been eating here for 35 years and it is by far the best beef sandwich in the Chicago land area. very busy place however they do have the employees to handle it and get you in and out. Gets a big two thumbs up from me!

    (5)
  • Debbie G.

Extremely long lines. No parking and no seats available inside. Long wait. Food was really good

    (3)
  • John P.

Avoid the drive thru at all costs. But then again where do you park? Went to the drive thru many times and very few times was the order correct. Twice they even lost our order. No matter what you get you will be put in a parking spot and have to wait. This is not the employees fault though. The place is waaaaaaay to small for the volume of buisness it gets.

    (3)
  • Ree L.

My go to spot for good burgers, hot dogs, polish, fries and chocolate cake. Drive thru is fast and the drive thru staff is always friendly despite the really hot or really cold temps outside. Would be 5 stars but prices seem to go up often.

    (4)
  • Cloey S.

Always friendly and enthusiastic staff. Everyone works quickly and together to make sure orders are out correct and on time. I love the atmosphere and inside is always clean. I usually order a beef n' cheddar on a croissant. It is the best!

    (5)
  • Tim M.

Amazon prices, amazing staff, amazing food. Such a nice drive through experience and inside seating. Nothing more needed to know!

    (5)
  • Angela P.

Portillo's is Portillo's. Unless you're a tourist, you know the food is going to be amazing. There's always a wait at the drive-thru, but this is pretty standard at all Portillo's locations. They add more hot peppers and don't soak the italian beef as much as it's next nearest location on Route 59/Jefferson in Naperville. I don't like my sandwich sopping wet, and I don't like to be a picky customers and have to order it "dry." Can't complain about the prices. I got an italian beef w/hot peppers and large cheese fries for $9. That's the same as I'd pay at my other fave greasy joints like Gemato's or Nicky's.

    (5)
  • Jeff P.

Whats all the hype about? It was ok at best nothing special but I wanted to give it a try seeing how every gave them good reviews. Maybe everyone got there food on the cooks payday, made them happy and they cooked the food the right way. It's kind of priced high if your blue collar like me and the drive through was the most stupid thing I have ever seen. They where trying to get my order before I could see the menu and I was asking what they had and all she said was I'm not sure we have so much stuff really? Ohh and the poor kid who was running out the food looked like he was in a panic, give that kid a raise. I don't know maybe I'll give it another try someday but as of now I think I will try other things

    (2)
  • Michelle D.

Getting the chopped salad, again. Don't care because it's awesome. If you never tried it, you NEED to!

    (5)
  • John S.

great Chicago dogs and Italian beef. too pricey for the cheap food that it is. this is a classic Chicago foodie joint and they k ow it and you pay for it. remember the phrase " you get screwed at the drive thru" order is ALWAYS wrong, check your order. If you can take the double to triple up charge and check your order, you will enjoy the food.

    (3)
  • Maia L.

Portillo's is truly a midwest restaurant - it's greasy, a bit disorganized, but a great place to bring your family. It has really unique decor, and is a great family restaurant overall.

    (4)
  • Jessica Y.

Great food, and excellent milkshakes, I find myself craving their chocolate milkshakes often. Service is always quick no matter how busy they are. 5 well deserved stars.

    (5)
  • Steve G.

This is another place I don't get. The people that love Portillo's are the people who never grew up in Chicago and never had the corner hot dog place. Because if you ever had one of those hotdogs or beef sandwiches you would agree with me. I live about 5 mins from this place and I would have a easier time to drive 45 mins into the city and grab a hotdog, then to drive for 5 mins and enter into this assembly line brainless establishment. It is like a big conveyor of people. It is like the Walmart of hotdogs. Save your time, with this place.

    (2)
  • Tiffany K.

Portillos is always the best! This particular Portillos is so much slower on service than other locations, but the food is always great, & my order is always correct, so I don't feel that anything less than 5 stars is fair.

    (5)
  • Adri R.

Portillos has the best hot dogs, hands down. Their italian beef sandwich is delicious as well. How lucky are we to finally habe one of these in this area!? Dont skimp out o. The chocolate cake....it is devilishly devine. My only complaint is the poor workers ha ing to stand out in the wretched cold to take our drive through orders. I know it makes things go faster....but the poor things look half frozen

    (5)
  • Jake L.

If you've given Portillos less than 5 stars, stop eating food. It's obviously something you know little about. You name it, it's good. Cheese Fries. Beefs. Burgers. Hot Dogs. Polish. Even a fish sandwich. This place is perfect. Even if it's a long wait, it IS worth it.

    (5)
  • Danielle D.

I love their beef sandwiches dipped in gravy with hot peppers! Food is great every visit. The only downside is that they are always super busy and long wait times! Employees are always super nice as well. Would definitely recommend eating here!

    (5)
  • Alixx C.

I'm over the hype of portillos the beefs aren't the same and the hot dogs were kind of mushy. I'm not impressed. Very disappointed and I won't be back anytime soon. I remember when the bread was hot and crusty on the beef but no more. Or as my order indicated. It's a shame. Still awesome hamburgers.

    (2)
  • Brianna R.

THE CHOCOLATE MALTS! Yes! I love this location, is usually not too swamped during the day and the staff is nice and hard working. I love the Italian Strawberry Shortcake too.

    (5)
  • Ramone B.

I hadn't had Portillos since 2007. I finally had the urge to go, and I went for a bacon double cheeseburger and fries with a chocolate cake shake. I went through the drive thru gave my order to the first order taker who totally screwed it up. I gave my order a couple more times and then I was good. Maybe next time I will just go inside! Anywho My fries I ordered well done so they were nice and crunchy. They were sooooo good!!! I love the fries with Portillo's BBQ sauce. The sauce tastes just like open pit, but they swear its an original recipe! Its still good cuz I love open pit! The Bacon Double cheeseburger was just okay. I have been quite the Connoisseur of burgers around chicagoland, and Let me tell you there are much better hamburgers out there. The Portillo's burger just doesn't do it for me anymore. I will go back to Portillos when I'm craving a hot dog because no one can touch a Portillo's hotdog! The Chocolate Cake shake was nothing to ride home about. I've had better shakes at other restaurants. It was okay. Until next time.........

    (3)
  • Graham S.

    Always a great place!

    (5)
  • Craig C.

While I really enjoy the food, it's just not worth it for the price point. When it comes down to it, Buffalo Wild Wings, chilis or Applebee's are better dinner options. It pains me to say it, but when you enter that "arena" your dining experience better match it. Nice food, but I never rush back like I used to.

    (2)
  • Steve A.

I had a beef hot dog (nice that they advertise 100% beef) and an Italian beef sandwich. Both were quite good. It's a bit hectic of a place in terms of ordering and seating, but I suppose that might be considered part of the charm. I wasn't all that hungry but would consider returning next time that I am to expand my menu selection.

    (4)
  • Bert D.

After about 2 years, twice a week to get my chopped salad fix I stopped. I substituted the Gorgonzola cheese with provolone every time, being told by the manager there would not be an extra charge for the substitution (thank goodness as $8.00+ for a salad is kinda pricy). Then one day I was charged for this substitution and the manager (a different one) said that they charge for the substitution. $2.50??? Really??? I told them to forget any cheese and they would not see me back. I know my $20./week at portillo's will not hurt them but it is the principal

    (2)
  • Twylla S.

How can u not love all things portillos?

    (5)
  • Michael C.

Great food, expensive though, I guess you get what you pay for. Me personally i think there Double Cheeseburger is to die for. My son loves their chicken noodle soup and my daughter loves their burgers and hot dogs. Very clean always a nice experience.

    (5)
  • Dan T.

Everybody has that regular place where they go to eat every chance they get. That place for me is Portillo's. Everything here is amazingly good. The Italian Beef is my staple that I usually get. It's perfect! I prefer it dipped and with hot peppers. I've never had anything bad here though. They have a great char grilled chicken sandwich as well, along with awesome salads and desserts. Even the soups are really good. And of course their Chicago style hot dogs are legendary, just like the beef. For anybody visiting Chicago that wants to experience great Chicago beef and dogs, Portillo's is a must visit.

    (5)
  • Mike Z.

Double bacon cheeseburger induced a nap that couldn't be resisted. Eat with caution;)

    (5)
  • Dan L.

It's a classic Chicago must go! I have relatives that stop in from out of town that want to visit two places when they come to Chicago. Portillo's and White Castle. The Beef and Chedder Croissant is greasy and filling. The dogs are Chicago style and you can never go wrong with that. If you're not wanting the typical Portillo's, stop over to Barney's who has the best chopped chicken salad.

    (4)
  • Shay B.

This Portillo's is busy all the time. The food is worth the wait in the long line wrapped around the building, as it does move fast. Let me start by saying I don't eat much red meat at all. However, Portillo's Italian beef begs to be devoured at the first scent of the greasy bag. Yum, yum and more yum. I get mine with sweet and hot peppers and American cheese. I often sacrifice the cheese for my fries and drizzle it all over my beef. Real fattening, I know.

    (4)
  • Doug K.

A decent but busy place, and what seems to be a Chicagoland place to go dine at. Portillo's offers cafeteria style ordering, and not enough seating for dinner time. However, I will recommend their reasonably priced Italian beef sandwich, which I found to be quite tasty, plus I had some chocolate cake for dessert. If you come here, you may want to come at a less busy time.

    (3)
  • D W.

Best beef sandwiches, Chicago style hot dogs and chopped salads. We are never disappointed after eating here or any of their other locations. The only negative aspect of the Portilos chain is the price - a little pricey for simple dishes. However, whenever I crave for a beef sandwich it's a trip to Portilos.

    (4)
  • Mike S.

All around fantastic. EVERYTHING on the menu is top quality!!! Love it!!!

    (5)
  • Michael M.

Yes. It's fast food, but Italian beef Chicago-style doesn't get any better than how it's done by Dick and Sharon Portillo. The soups arn't "homemade, but the beef most certainly is. The most impressive part is that the quality of the beef sandwiches is the same high standard throughout the chain. I've been eating there and having them cater parties for the past 17 years. We've ALWAYS had great rsults with their food. Nobody does Italian Chicago-style beef better than Portillo's. Except of course for my friend "Turk" Zartler in Orland PArk, IL.

    (5)
  • Janet M.

When you go into the restaurant your food is made to perfection. But they NEVER get it right in the drive thru. We really love the taste of everything at Portillos, but save yourself the grief and go inside to order your food!

    (3)
  • Dana B.

The Chicago style hot dog was the mission for the day. Find me a Chicago style hot dog. Our good friend and Chi-Town tour guide recommended Portillo's as the best out of what's around. Meat in tube form is hard to mess up, but its even harder to make exceptional which is the only way to describe the entire food experience at this classic restaurant. The Chicago dog, the polish dog, the fries and the chili. If this was the last meal i could have in this life, it would not be a wasted life. do your taste buds a solid and put it in your mouth!

    (5)
  • Johnny T.

The beef is their flagship item. Had no complaints with their burgers and hot dogs. Food and price wise, they really can do no wrong. With that said, I'm a pretty picky person in general, and whenever I'm hungry and nearby, I never go in since there's always long lines in the drive-thru and inside. The tourist trap interior can feel overwhelming at times and do they really need the loud jazz music outside? I'm practically covering my ears whenever I'm entering or leaving. Food here is great but prepare to wait if you go during lunch or early evening hours.

    (4)
  • Kathryn G.

Awesome food, great service. Just wish it were closer to my house in Plainfield.

    (5)
  • Matthew R.

I always love me some Portillo's. It's never something I have to have, but every time I'm in town, I usually stop in here at least once. I really dig it. The food is good, the prices are fair and love the atmosphere. Hot dogs are always a great choice and the fries are amazing! Big glasses of beer go with any meal and are definitely worth it. There's no real service I guess. It's sort of like a class up from a fast food restaurant if I do this place any justice with that description. Wow. I never thought of it like that before. Still amazing though. I'm pretty sure you can't go wrong with anything you order. I know they're known for their hot dogs, but the burgers are quite satisfying as well! Definitely check this place out if you're in the area. I know they are nationwide so definitely give it a go. So GENIUS.

Good chicago dog! The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the only beer they serve is Miller - really? You already have the liquor license, serve real beer.

Really this review is not needed, at least if you have lived anywhere in the Chicago metro area in the last who knows how many years and eat meat. And since the franchises have crept into the suburbs, the goodness just continues. A perennially stop on my food binge that signifies the holiday season. I usually stick to the beef sandwiches or combo's, and if I am feeling really ambitious the nuclear cheese fries. The beef sandwiches are pretty much a benchmark, I go for extra gravy with peppers. All I know is, until a respectable Italian beef spot opened in Seattle a few months back, I found myself occasionally dreaming about this place. I may have a problem.

Love Portillos in Shorewood. We're here at least twice a month. Burgers and Chopped Salad are always solid, yummy, and the atmosphere is fun. We love the chocolate cake too.

Never had a food related issue here...ever. I love their hot dogs the best! A close second would be their beef. I used to take strawberry shortcake deserts to my ex in LA from here... she loved it so, and the points I received made lugging 6 of these semi frozen treats on a 5 hr flight so worth it. ;) The Tuna steak will for ever change your mind on tuna in general and actually is my second favorite food Item there not the beef as stated earlier. Always clean always fast.

The fact that I went back 2 days in a row... and if I had been in the Chicagoland area, woulda made it 3 got this place a 5 star rating. The hot dogs are yum, sausages are yum (didn't like the bread on this on as much), Italian beef is yum, and ribs are yum. Basically, the place is just plain good with an excellent selection. I can't believe I'm putting a chain place as a 5 star place.. but this place is no joke and MUST be checked out if you're from out of town.

Sweet and simple: Portillo's has phenomenal beef... Nobody makes a jumbo Chicago style like these guys. I have loved every single thing I've gotten there, and I recommend everybody go if you like Chicago style food. I'm a Portillo's supporter FOR LIFE!!!

Allow me to start off by simply stating I LOVE PORTILLOS! Honestly I have NEVER ordered anything other than 2 (Sometimes 3) Beef Dogs everything on them Fries and a cup O Cheese.. the cheese is handy for the fries but if you coat every delicious bite of that dog in cheese it is awesome.. Portillos is about a 20 min drive from where i live ad me and my GF are there every other week. Quick friendly service in a great atmosphere.. sometimes you might wait a bit longer tham you want but (at least for me) its because im really looking forward to eating there.. perhaps one of these days i should branch out with what i order but probably not.. in fact I think I will stop typing this review to go! (NO Im not kidding and YES I m serious)

Portillo's goodness. What more need be said. I was thrilled when they opened a spot this close to my mom's. It's a required stop (usually multiple) each trip home. This location has a 30's Prohibition theme, which is neat, but who cares. Delicious hot dogs is what it's all about.

It's your average beef and hot dog place, but with a fun atmosphere. Good service, always busy.

I have heard so much about this place so I stopped there Wednesday night, got a hot dog , a beef sandwich and a bottle of water, the hot dog was one of those little skinny things, very greasy, the beef was pretty good, but kinda small, the water was, well water, I paid about $8.50, which I guess was fair, what I disliked is I had to pull over to a parking spot and wait ten minutes for my food to come, it's not like it was such a big order. I would not make the drive just for their food but if I was in the neighborhood and someone else was buying I would eat there again.
