Soft shell crab perfection was why I demanded to dine here and I was not disappointed. Perfect succulent soft shell deliciousness...so well made I even ate the legs. Every bite was lemon butter drenched, and terribly savory. We started with oysters Rockefeller and they were large and yummy and cooked nicely. Fresh spinach, perfectly seasoned. Great wines, I stuck with a pricey sauvignon blanc. Nice sides, we opted for a bacon infused potato au gratin. After eating here I even googled "soft shell crab recipes"...I am pretty pleased to report they're pretty easy to make! But only in the month of June.

What a turnaround. This place was great. Took my fiancé here for his birthday. The Alaskan crab legs were phenomenal. The sashimi was deliciously fresh. The martini's were splendid. I mean, I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. We also had a cup of soup, he the clam chowder and me the lobster bisque, and it didn't stand a chance. So delish!! I must be honest, my fiancés salmon was very bland. I had the whole Branzino for my entree. And I absolutely loved it. It was sensationally tender and the hint of lemon and oregano was subtle. They came out with a layered chocolate cake, which I was very appreciative of. The atmosphere is elegant and the waitress knew her stuff. Will be coming back very soon!

Ehhhh. Yes it is good, very good. Just not great. Service is great though. It's just that Chicago has so many restaurants like this. So here it's not going to be like WOW I just had the best scallops of my life. I think it's a tad bit pricey for what you get but I still go there and will continue to do so since it's convenient and the service is great.

I ordered a crab claw appetizer that seemed like they just had taken it out of the freezer. I had the scallops for a main dish which was pretty good. All of the food is a la carte and over priced. I think next time I will just go to Red Lobster.

After a reply to my yelp review from the owner Steve L, saying he would like to make up to us for our bad experience. I sent him an email with my information. It has been two weeks & I have not heard from him. So although it appears he wanted to right a wrong, clearly that was not the case.

We went to Shaw's for Restaurant Week. $44 for your choice of clam chowder or salad, 1 lb or crab legs with potato au gratin or 1.5 lbs of lobster with red potatoes (3 to be exact...), cole slaw, and choice of dessert (raspberry, key lime pie, or pecan pie). They didn't have the pecan pie so it was substituted with chocolate cake. We walked in to an air of snootiness. The host pretty much ignored us. I guess it is plausible that we just wandered in to hang out at the foyer but he seemed uninterested in us as I stood next to the podium he was manning. No other customers around, mind you. He then asked for our names and checked the reservations. Half an hour later, some lady came up to us. I assume we were being seated because the lady said..."come with me" and took off. I ran after her. I wanted to eat and assumed she was talking to me. Lucky she was talking to me. Imagine how silly I would feel having to return to the foyer to wait again. Anyways...our selections: Clam Chowder for both of us - yummilious but nothing really special. I would definitely eat it again. I may or may not specifically come here for it. But I have been spoiled with clam chowder from Boston. But I would recommend it to a friend if they were in need of some good clam chowder. Creamy with a good amount of clams. We ordered both crab legs and lobster so that we can try it. This I would definitely come back for! Fresh as fresh can be and perfectly cooked. Not too salty which was what I was afraid of and came with a bib which we both opted out of. Shaw's lived up to its reputation of high quality seafood!!! The potatoes (red and au gratin) was ok. Maybe a little less than ok. Well the red potatoes were 3 smaller than golf ball sized potatoes, boiled. It tasted like a potato. Nothing else I can elaborate on in that front. The au gratin was cheesy with a milky taste. I'm not so fond of the milky taste. I prefer it cooked with heavy cream. But I have rarely found an au gratin that I liked so I'm not the best person to ask about this. For dessert, I ordered the key lime pie. It is key lime pie for people that don't really like key lime pie. I like my key lime pie nice and tarty. It was sweeter than I expected and goopier as well. More like thick key lime custard with a graham cracker crust. The other order was chocolate cake and it was very rich. For the chocolate lovers, you must try it! Overall, seafood was top notch! Service was snooty. Price...well you get what you pay for so price was high but I think it was worth it. On a separate note, try Tokio Pub. That was a fun experience without the snootiness. Look out for that review in the future.

Got a special occasion? Even if you don't, this restaurant will help you feel like it's a special occasion. It looks and feels fancy and velvety (although there is no velvet involved). I strongly suggest you make a reservation because this place is always packed. If you're celebrating a birthday, they'll even throw in a delicious chocolate cake on the house (candle and all). How sweet! There are two sides to this place (three if you count the bathrooms that are located upstairs on the second level), the more sophisticated side on the left and the casual dining on the right. Both sides are great and offer the same menu. I can tell you the sashimi and crabs are amazing here. They even pre-cut the claws for you so you don't have to work for it. Now that's special! The lobster bisque is a must-try. The ambiance is great, the drinks are superb, and the service is wonderful. All this will cost a pretty penny, though, but you're worth it. They provide valet service...but I don't really understand the need for it out in the burbs. I guess if you want to pamper yourself and not walk far, the option is there. There is a parking garage close by if there are no spots in the lot. Go on, walk off that dinner.

It's all about the Oyster Bar and the oysters. We love getting the dozen sampler and a few apps. Highly recomended. Oh bring money.

RESTAURANT WEEK dinner menu was crap. the only good part about it was the substitutions that our waiter was so kind to let us have. clam chowder was a good start but nothing to write home about. since it wasn't very filling, we ordered the spinach & crab dip which was more satisfying. the main course was a choice between crab cake or crab cake burger--not very creative, Shaws. I think the point of restaurant week is to highlight some of your best items and I can say there was nothing impressive about that burger. Our waiter let us substitute the key lime w/the chocolate cake which I do admit was so rich & delicious--rivals Portillo's chocolate cake! I opted to order off the regular menu and my lobster, brie & cavatappi entree tantalized my taste buds! it was still good as leftovers the next day. i would go back for happy hour oysters and a few more of the crab/lobster dishes.

My wife and I attended Shaw's yesterday to give the restaurant a second chance as the last time we went it was not a good experience. Fortunately we had a great meal with attentive service in the dining room from our server Tim. We ate the cold seafood platter and I would definitely recommend this. My advice is to skip the bar and head to the dining room.

Went here with the husband for an anniversary dinner. We both love seafood and didn't feel like going all the way downtown so we thought we'd give Shaw's a try. We got there early on a Sunday evening and there were only a few other tables. Service was attentive and she thoroughly explained the menu, different types of crab, etc. We had fresh oysters for an appetizer, yum. I had shrimp for my entrée and my husband and a seafood platter of some kind. We both really enjoyed our meals and we were given a complimentary dessert for our special occasion which is always a nice touch. Not sure how service gets when they are busier, but if you're looking for great, fresh seafood and don't mind spending a bit more, this place is great! We'll be back.

Dropped by for their half off oysters. Had both the west and east coast varieties. West coast was a bit too briney/(fishy) for me and lacked that so called "cucumber" finish. East coast was sweet and spectacular. So, you're wondering why just 3 stars? If you're going to brag about your sashimi and having some of the best/freshest seafood around before I order(prices were fair for the sashimi platter), your execution needs to be better. There were a few scales (2) on my sashimi when it was brought out. I'm not sure if the scale belonged to the salmon originally, but essentially it had me questioning their cleanliness and prep work. Difficult to enjoy food with this mindset. They quickly replaced the salmon parts with more yellowtail...of which I found another scale. At this point, I just figured the heck with it, I don't want to be the guy that have their food spit on for complaining too much. :/

Um, Shaw's we need to talk. It's not me, it's you. We had a great relationship till now but, you changed and the long distance thing isn't working out anymore. I know ending this on my birthday may hurt but it's best for both of us. Yes, you're wondering where it all went wrong. Well I have to tell you that your food has really gone down hill. Tonight's 'Buffet of Disappointment' was more than I could stomach. Oh how I was looking forward to your Sushi. What you served up was lukewarm sushi with wasabi that had turned brown from sitting out so long. The Dungeness crab had been in your steamer so long it was dry and grey. Also, some of the peel and eat shrimp really needed a potty break before going on the buffet. EWW! I will say that the king crab legs were ok and my hubby said the whole lobster was good too but, that's not enough for me. I assumed you would redeem yourself with the dessert table but, it was not meant to be. Your cupcakes are a fraction of their previous size and SO DRY! Whyyyyy? I ended up at Cheesecake Factory for dessert! I think they are my new love. They are a bit younger than you and definitely care about how they look yet, that's not my main attraction to them. It's the fact they provided me with a Happy Ending on my birthday. Something you haven't given in awhile. Your glass of Champagne was appreciated but it's obvious you don't know me anymore. This breakup hurts me as much as it hurts you but I can't justify driving 45 minutes and spending $125 for the food you are serving. I'm sure you will find someone new. So long, parting is such sweet sorrow.

As much as this place claims to be a Crab House I think it should be called an Oyster House. I'm sure the crab is good but the oysters we so fresh there is no way you would think you were in the Midwest. We came for the happy hour specials that were half price oysters and some specials on sushi rolls that were forgettable. We started off with the oyster sampler that was so fresh that if you closed your eyes you could literally taste the ocean. I preferred the east cost to the west cost but that's my own personal opinion. I usually don't touch them with a 10 foot pole but when they are of this quality you can't miss. We also had some fried calamari and a tuna poke dish that was perfect with some yuzu juice adding just the right citrus note. Our guest had a mixed platter that had some shrimp, scallop, and a filet that she really enjoyed. Along with that she indulged in a couple of oyster shooters that looked as good as they tasted. Hit up the happy hour for some of the best oysters in the suburbs for sure.

Would have given a 5-star had it not been for the hostess.. Went here a few nights ago with my parents for a late dinner. I made a reservation through Open Table. When we arrived, we were asked to wait a few minutes to be seated by the hostess. When she was ready, she walked right past us without greeting us and said "follow me". Had we not been the only people in the lobby, we would have had no idea she was talking to us. Apart from that, dining at Shaws was wonderful! We had an informative and attentive waitress (and even an attentive manager). We started with the Clams Casino and Oysters Rockefeller. Both were good, but not the best we've ever had. We then ordered: Steamed Alaskan Golden King Crab Legs, Sauteed Nantucket Cape Scallops, and Twin South African Rock Lobster Tails. Everything was AMAZING! The King Crab Legs (my entree) were sweet and came out of the shell easily. Of course we had to end with a little dessert, so we decided on the dessert sampler which came with mini key lime pie, mini chocolate cake, mini creme brulee, and mini raspberry pie. All of them were delicious! It was a wonderful experience--the food was great and the service was on point. We would come here again!

Treated my mom and my sister to Shaw's Grand Crab Buffet... Available only on Saturdays and priced at $56 per person (not inclusive of beverages, tax and tip). $56/person?? Better be the best damn buffet I've ever been to! Well, it was. So much fresh seafood. At least 5 different kinds of crab... Not sure of all the names... Red, King, Dungeness, and Snow Crab in addition to Crab Cakes (my weakness), Shrimp Cocktail, Lobster Tails, Sushi, Fried Shrimp, and Walleye. The shrimp cocktail was so meaty and not like the rubbery shrimp cocktail you'll get at the supermarket. The lobster tail was also very meaty and delicious. Sushi and lobster penne was also very good. I really enjoyed the pre cracked crab claws (blue crab and one other) that were really meaty. More eating and less work! Other things that we had were salads, sides (lobster and artichoke dip, lobster gratin, etc), and lobster bisque. All very good. I called all week trying to get Mother's Day brunch reservations but they were booked up. Thank god they extended their grand buffet to start at 2pm because this was so much better than their downstairs brunch. To tell you the truth, I'm not sure if we were able to get food from downstairs (the table next to us was), but it seemed like a lot of fillers like French toast and waffles... I passed and filled up on seafood. The coup de gras (first time I've ever used that term) was the sweets table. Holy fat kid heaven. The tiramasu things in wine glasses were unreal (think I had 3) and the chocolate cake and lemon meringue tarts were awesome. Chocolate covered strawberries and chocolate ganache cups. Only thing missing was fruit, but at this point I wasn't thinking of healthy. I devoured this sweets table. The bill was over $200, but I was happy to treat my mother for Mother's Day. This was easily the best buffet I've ever eaten at, and would spend the extra money for special occasions to do it again. **Oh and extra bonus, kids 13 years and under get to eat free with an accompanying adult.

It's kind of like the Monty Python Cheese Shop skit...a crab restaurant without much crab. Other than the vastly overpriced orders of king or snow crab legs, there were no crabs on the menu. Crab cakes were made from frozen crab. They do, however, have some good fish selections, including Walleye. So, as long as you are not expecting a Baltimore/Philly-style crab experience, it is fine.

Who cannot give this place FIVE stars? Ok, maybe when you do their Sunday Brunch Buffet on your birthday with a BOGO free coupon...it's hard not to be on Cloud Nine!

The first time I ever had an oyster was Shaws. The first time I did an oyster shooter was also at Shaws. The first time I ever spilled an entire martini in general, AND on my iPhone... you guessed it- Shaws. This is kind of a classy pace, and yet I still managed to overdrink dirty martinis and oyster shooters and spill a full martini onto my phone. Luckily we were tucked into a booth and no one noticed. I haven't really had much here that I didn't like. And I've never had any issues with the service. So this review is a little short and to the point that I definitely suggest this place for seafood and drinks when you're feelin a little fancy. Just make sure you have mucho dinero on you. Me and the bf ran up a $200+ tab just on drinks and apps alone! Well worth it IMO.

I have had the scallops (light, gentle flavor that made me want to eat twenty of them), the sushi (a little boring, but no complaints), the gumbo (flavorful, awesome, I don't know how it compares, it was my first!), the creme brulee (delightful and huge!), and a tart raspberry pie, I think. Incidentally, the creme brulee and pie go great together! Another really nice point of the restaurant: the bathrooms are upstairs independent of the main dining room, so if there happens to be a line (there wasn't), you won't get jostled by passersby. Down side: It gets crowded here!

Had lunch with coworkers. Food was ok nothing spectacular very expensive. For the price I expected more. Good new although they were busy we were seated and attended very quickly. They took our order and we served in 15 minutes. food was hot didn't taste like it was reheated or microwaved. For the price their are better options in the area. Not my first choice but a decent experience.

A friend and I sat at the bar last night for some appetizers. We arrived around 7:30pm and stayed until 9pm. Although we arrived with drinks from the Tokio Pub next door, it still took at least five minutes for any staff member at the bar to acknowledge we were there. The bartender, "Mr. Aaron," had no personality. I wonder how people like that become bartenders? No interaction and we had to grab his attention each time we wanted to order something or needed a refill on water. He seemed very preoccupied with cleaning the bar (floors, mats, taps, bottles) to close on time than with helping anyone. He seemed miserable. I'm not sure I'll go back. I prefer the upbeat atmosphere of Tokio Pub next door and the bartender there (female, Asian) was outstanding!

Love their seafood salad! My fiancé loves their fish tacos! We have been coming here for a while and they have changed up a few things with their specials. Now they only have 2 oysters on special instead of all of them. Also they took away the half priced spicy tuna and their awesome rolls.

Shaw's graciously invited us back after our last experience. We went for dinner, Rob was the server, and it was back to everything that I love about Shaw's. Martinis were made right, the crab was chilled and not sitting in water, and the new Moosetracks dessert is to die for. So all in all, I feel that the dinner and the brunch are the mealtimes to hit here. I still would probably not go back for lunch unless it was for work.

Went in for brunch and it was absolutely amazing. I had the lobster bisque, an omelette from the omelette station, spinach salad, a california roll, salmon, sausage, waffles with strawberries, turkey with cranberry, tenderloian with horseradish sauce, and eggs benedict. My favorites were french toast with bananas foster, eggs benedict, and the desserts. The creme brulee, key lime tarts, and all the other desserts were absolutely magnificent. To drink my husband and I both had orange juice that was fresh-squeezed and included in the brunch buffet. The service was much better than my last visit and I will definitely be back for the brunch.

My sister and I? Seafood junkies. Pappadeaux was our favorite go-to, so on the hunt for another spot, we checked out Shaw's. Oyster appetizer: LOVE oysters... but I"m not quite the connoisseur yet, so I asked for a recommendation and my waiter picked the nook point. Great amount of meat! mmm.... We went for dinner service, but we'll HAVE to come back during happy hour for 1/2 off prices on the oysters. I love a good lobster every now and then.... I ordered the lobster thermidore. typically i like mine steamed simply with some seasoning and a whole lotta butter. The thermidore was a steamed lobster cooked again in a white cream with wine and mushrooms. Pretty good, and I'd recommend to try. Although... not the melt-in-your-mouth satisfaction that lobster can amount to. My sister had a combo-- garlic shrimp, scallops, and a crabcake. The best crabcake i've ever tasted! more lumpy crab, and less "cake." great crusty on the top and bottom, but packed with crabmeat. Scallops sooo delicately cooked with a nice toast. delicious!. Didn't try her shrimp, but def flavorful. Dessert: we got the sampler of four mini desserts... but opted out on key lime pie and some raspberry something. So two creme brulee and two chocolate cake minis were not a problem for them to do. I love that they let us do that! But the creme brulee was delicious and the cake rich without being overpoweringly sweet. Service was kinda inconsistent. Our waiter was definitely knowledgable but didn't frequent our table to check on us much. Which could be a good thing if you don't want awkward popping in and out of a waiter to check on ya, but.... i really like waiters to check on how you enjoy the food after each plate that's brought to the table. Anyway. i'll be back!

I've been to the one downtown several times and my first time at this location. I'm sad to say I wasn't very impressed at their Sunday Brunch. The service was less than mediocre, our server was slow and not very hospitable, and lets face it, it's a buffet brunch, so they're pretty much a cocktail waitress. The chef at the Surf and Turf station wasn't very friendly either but he did give me a huge portion of the steamed crab legs so that's a plus! At this location, the cold seafood portion was all the way at the other end of the restaurant. Why wouldn't they keep the buffet in one general area??? Doesn't make sense. I think everything is smaller at this location, the variety is way smaller but the same price!!! Their bloody marys and mimosas are both $8, the bloody mary is worth the price but definitely not for the mimosa!! The quality of their food was the only thing that was going in their favor, otherwise I was pretty disappointed.

We had an RSVP at 7pm and still had to wait, what was the point of making an RSVP?? The hostess girl got an attitude when we asked her about why we still had to wait. She told us restaurant over booked RSVP for the night..nice.. We were seated in bar area, which was probably the best choice after dealing with not so nice hostess. We had the best waiter, Mr Mario. He brought us bread immediately when we told him we were hungry. Our glass was always full. Our food came right away, he answered questions, very knowledgeable about menu. Overall great service. Great food, I'd come back.. :)

Our family went to Shaw's Crab House yesterday for Mother's Day on 5-10 (we always go the day before to avoid the massive crowds) and we had a great time. Our server, Chris, was OUTSTANDING just like the food. My mother is a very finicky eater and she loved the food.

Great oysters, and love the Oyster happy hour. Jambalaya and crab legs are awesome too. The seafood always seems very fresh and the wait staff is very friendly. I've never been disappointed.

We have been here several other times and loved it. Last night, 8 of us were here to celebrate my husbands bday. When I made the reservation, I was asked if we were celebrating anything special - which was never acknowledged in any way at dinner. The wine prices are ridiculous! Tripling the price of a bottle is pretty much common, but 4x what we buy it at Binny's is just a rip-off! The grand sushi platter was shared between my husband and son - and they were very unimpressed. My son only ate a few items, stating it was not good and did not taste fresh. My garlic shrimp was overdone and swimming in a greasy sauce - they only reason I did not get crab was due to the price. This restaurant is so over-priced with quality that no longer meets the pricing, I cannot believe it. Although the restaurant was full, I think your money (and lots of it) is best spent at many other restaurants in our fine city! YUK!

$2.50 for one oyster?? Guess that's the price you must charge in the Chicago area cause they aren't really fresh. I get "fresh" in Florida for 25 cents apiece. Ordered Lobster tacos and they came with 2 pieces of deep fried something. Menu said Lobster Tacos, not deep fried lobster pieces. Was given a dessert menu selection and asked for Chocolate Cake I was told they were out. Won't go back again.

It's been years since I visited Shaws. My husband wanted oysters for our anniversary so he suggested Shaws. So, to Shaws we went! Let me touch on service first. Our serve was unique in that he seemed interested in everything we were ordering and would throw in random jokes when passing by, but he would also disappear at times too. I absolutely dislike having to call out to a server to get our "wants" answered but this was literally the only way we could get his attention. Otherwise, he'd just walk by knowing we were ready to order. My husband called this non-intrusive but I don't feel like you need to say "excuse me" whenever you want something. Okay, onto the food. We started off with the Oyster Sampler which was fabulous. Buttery goodness. Then we had the Sashimi Combination which had the freshest salmon and yellow tail I've had in sometime. The tuna was good but not the best. I had the king crab legs which my server described as prepared so you don't have to crack open and make a mess. He was wrong. I was trying to be neat too! My husband had the halibut which was divine. Perfectly cooked and oh-so-fresh. We finished off with an ice cream sundae and the dessert sampler. Good, simple way to end the night. Oh...and my bread was cold. I'm jealous of the folks who had the warm cheese bread. 3 stars is a good rating in my book. Go there and enjoy the fresh seafood! Prices are a little high however, so be prepared.

  • E J H.

Food was fresh and good as we expected. Wife had the halibut, which was a bit over cooked but she didn't complain or compliment. I had the seafood combo which I thought the portion was small. I buy bigger shrimp at Costco. Anyway, the waiter was friendly. I guess you sometimes just need to look past the money and enjoy the one you're with. We both enjoyed our meal, but $170 for 2 people is a stretch for me. I noticed the waiter selected the most expensive items on the menu. Not unusual. His favorites? I bet they are. Anyway, I will never fully understand restaurant pricing except to say one might check out the menu before you are seated. You can walk away and keep your dignity (and your money). Would I recommend it to my friends? I don't have any that would spend that kind of money for a meal. Just kidding. Would we try again? Fat chance if I win the lotto and I don't play. Don't mind me. I'm just cheap. There, I said it.

Everyone knows how delicious the food is and how great the service is at Shaw's. My problem is with their valet service at the Schaumburg location. On my last visit, they block off an entire row of parking spots in the lot for valet parking. YET, the valet drivers drive around the rest of the lot taking regular spots from other Shaw's customers while that whole row of valet parking sits EMPTY. And to top it off, it's not even free valet that's taking these regular spots, it's $5... at a MALL, not downtown. SHAW'S, PLEASE FIX THIS IMMEDIATELY.

While I love all things Lettuce Entertain You, and love the food, can't say much for the server we had the day of our recent late lunch visit. He didn't offer the same experience that another server we saw did. I think you may need to revisit the servers training in the bar area. Food quality was excellent. All other staff were nice and helpful. As a former Lettuce server, I took note of many things he did improperly. Oh well. Will still go back to Shaw's but maybe just the downtown location.

Eating here was like a long day at the beach - I ended up with sand in my mouth and I got burned. Please wash the shrimp and if you're going to charge $38 for scallops, please put four whole ones on my plate. I don't need you to cut three of them up for me. Thanks. It was just plain dreadful.

The Forties dinner club vibe in this large restaurant gives character to what may be the best seafood restaurant in town. If you love shellfish, Shaw's is heaven. From multiple oyster varieties, scallops, crab, shrimp and lobster you will find these flown in daily to maximize their freshness and flavor. Coupled with friendly, knowledgeable servers who may be stretched a bit tight for the crowds, the experience is excellent. I can't wait to go back for the Sunday brunch.

This restaurant is a very poor value for most of the people I know, and I have also recently decided to stop wasting my money there. The prices keep going up to the sky, and many of the food portions are just too small and too stingy. I recently had a lake perch lunch that was so small, I am not even sure it would feed a small seagull. I felt totally robbed by such a small portion of perch and for paying such high prices for such very average food. The restaurant seems to always be at the front of the curve to raise their prices too high, and they have removed too many of the meals that were almost a reasonable value. The food and service is just not good enough to justify the astronomical prices there. Some dishes are good, but unfortunately many others are only average, and very few seem to justify the sky high prices. The service could sometimes be a strength, but nothing justifies the current prices, and even the service is not consistently top notch. I do not mind spending good money on food, but I need to feel I am getting something special or some reasonable value for the money. I too often feel like I have been scammed after a Shaw's meal. Over the years, I have seen many of my friends and work associates refuse to ever go back to Shaw's, and it was very difficult for me to find anyone that was willing to go there. This is because many of my friends already concluded before me that it is a rip off at Shaw's. After recently seeing the latest menu at Shaw's and experiencing some of their stingy portions of overpriced average food, I now agree. I have also joined the club that would not recommend Shaw's. I will try to spend my money somewhere else than this overpriced poor value joint in a shopping mall parking lot...

This year for my birthday I wanted Alaskan King Crab legs. I did my research and landed on Shaw's as they got the best reviews overall for them. When looking at the menu on-line we found that the Schaumburg location no longer carried the Red, only the Golden. I almost cancelled our reservation and went to Bob Chinn's since they still had them. Boy and I glad I didn't. The thought of going to BC where you fell like you are cattle just didn't sit well. Our waitress was extremely knowledgeable of the menu and was able to answer all of our questions at the table. She went back to the kitchen and brought back an actual sample of the crab claw to show us what you got for the market price. We ordered them (the princess crab with mayo) and they were AWESOME. We shared a chopped salad (yummy) and my husband said next time he'll get one just for himself, that's how good it was. Of course I got the steamed Alaskan Golden King Crab legs. I was weary that they would be too small and not taste as good as the red. To my surprise they looked pretty much the same, maybe slightly smaller on a few of them. Had I not known they were golden instead of red I would not have guessed there was a difference. My husband ordered the Grilled Atlantic Swordfish Artichokes Hearts, Sun-dried Tomatoes, Mushrooms, Basil, Micro Greens, Shallot Vinaigrette and said it was superb. We didn't feel rushed in our meal and our server was great about refilling our drinks without being asked! Near the end we were getting close to our movie time, so when our waitress asked us about dessert we said yes, but that we had a 7pm movie to make. She brought our desserts post haste and said as she left them she would bring our bill immediately. We ate our dessert, paid the bill and made our movie half way into the previews. This is definitely a great restaurant for a lovely meal and we'll be back again!

I really admire the fact that owners do care about this restaurant. I tried it the second time and was blown away by the quality of food and truly delightful service. Kudos! I will be back :)

In my opinion, this is one of the better seafood spots in the Chicago area. I typically order scallops here and they always seem to be of the highest quality - no sand and great flavor. I alos enjoy the clam chowder here as well. A little pricey, but he food is good so the price can be overlooked.

Before our food came out, we were given these scrumptious, buttery w/sprinkled herbs on top dinner rolls!!!! Order the Buffalo Shrimp Appetizer! Awesome!! Fish & Chips - AMAZING! Alaskan King Crab Legs - SUPERB, overpriced for the amount of food you get though. Was glad I ordered a side dish of Sauteed Spinach to go along with the Alaskan King Crab Legs because otherwise I would have left the joint picking up a hamburger at a drive-thru somewhere to actually be "FULL". Our waiter, hostess, & other staff crew we encountered were all excellent! Oh! I would have ordered a frozen pina colada or daiqueri but the bar does not carry frozen cocktails. Would love to see this drink option added... All in all, if in Schaumburg, I'd recommend this restaurant as a #1 Choice -

While I will always prefer the Shaw's in the city to this location, they have done a nice job in keeping what makes Shaw's, Shaw's. There is a main dining room and the smaller Oyster bar. The only difference here is that in the city location- there is usually live music. At this suburban outpost-the bartender told me that they only have music on special occasions. Too bad. It would add another dimension to the place. Other than that- the two places are pretty similar. We sat at the bar and ordered oysters. They had 5 different versions on this night so we went with the sampler that gave us a combination. All of them were quite tasty. Next up- I wanted the soft shell crab (it's only in season for a short while so I always order it when I can) but this was not to be my fate on this night. They were out. Nary a soft shell crab in the place so I settled for one of their famous crabcakes and a cup of the chowder. My friend went with crab legs and the au gratin potatoes. The food is always terrific here. The chowder was thick and filling an the crabcake was full of big chunks of crab. And those crab legs? Rich and decadent. A plus of this location is there is plenty of free parking as it is located on the pad of a mall. Doubt I would make this a regular spot as the Shaw's in the city is actually closer to me. But if I find myself out in Schaumburg again- this will surely go in my consideration set for a place to get a great martini and a bite to eat!

It's been a while since I had a sit down meal at Shaw's, so I won't be reviewing the ambience, the staff, or most of the food. I want to talk about the sushi. I got a $100 gift card for my birthday, so I figured I'd use it to buy a good sushi platter for the people in my office. I called and placed the order for the $75 dollar platter, then drove to pick it up. First, the sushi was just okay. I expected better from Shaw's. Second, and more importantly, I thought that for $75 we were going to get more. The food wasn't bad, but I just don't feel I got my money's worth.

There were some positives. Four of us ate dinner on Friday night, and we all thought the food was very good. The decor of the restaurant is authentic and very well done. Our busboy was attentive and friendly. The negatives won. Service was terrible. Our waitress was indifferent to the point of rudeness, and relentless in her attempts to upsell. I ordered a beer when we were seated. It was at least 20 minutes before she returned to take our order, at which time she commented that she would bring the beer. I hope it wasn't too much of an inconvenience. The waitress will be unnamed because I noticed that all the servers were engaged in upselling. Clearly that is a management directive. Maybe if they weren't trying so hard to peddle the extras they would be able to spend a little time bringing food and drinks to their tables. Finally, the restaurant is too expensive. My wife and I had a drink at the bar before dinner. She had a Moscow Mule and I had a gin and tonic (well brand). The $20 I put on the bar did not cover the tab. That was a sign of the cost of the dinner. I would probably try it again because of some good memories of the location downtown. However, I left the restaurant with the distinct impression that Lettuce Entertain You is milking this place for all that it is worth.

Huge disappointment. Nothing creative about the "Ecuadoran Mahi Mahi" or the Haddock. Bread rolls are a greasy mess. Waiter we had was barely understandable and obviously could not understand us. My wife asked for butter and later had to ask another server for butter. And when my wife asked if a starch came with the meal, the waiter babbled until I pointed out the list of extras at the bottom of the menu. Large table near us sat empty and covered in dirty dishes for most of our meal. Very over-priced for everything OTHER than the beef. $5 for valet parking. I would have given this place 1 star, but the decor is pretty cool -- very old school dinner club-ish and if you can get a seat at the bar in the main dining room, I think it would be great vibe.

We were at Shaw's tonight at the bar. Service is always great. We sat there for 3 hours sampling. A new favorite is the deep fried lobster tails tacos. So good. The oysters, buffalo shrimp, seafood gumbo were good too. As always, I loved the King crab bites and shrimp tempura roll too!

Took my boyfriend for his birthday dinner. I told him to order whatever he wanted. He had the crabs fresh flown in from South Africa. market price. oh. buddy. He talks about it to this day. He had the prime rib and some soup that night. And yea, those crabs. Just about the best meal he's ever had around here! I felt so proud, but yet all I had to do is make a reservation and pay for the meal. His special crab, filet, soup, salad, my sashimi, and 2 glasses of wine = $160. So worth it. We are saving it for a special occasion.

I looooove Shaw's; one of my favorite restaurants. It's definitely on the upscale side and isn't a place you can go every day. But when I feel like spendin a lil money, I go to Shaw's =] Their food is very fresh, love the 1/2 price oysters during happy hour, and love their cocktails. The Mai Tai was my fave from anywhere. Now, they shake it in front of you, pour it into a martini glass, and comes with a skewer of fruit. Presentation is amazing, but I feel the taste of the Mai Tai isn't as amazing as before. Their bloody marys on the other hand, have remained the same: fantastic! They include so much with it: shrimp, a quarter of a pickle, olives, and some other stuff I'm not remembering! As far as seafood goes, this place is the best I've encountered. I also would mention their Sunday brunches.. WOW. Aaaaamaaaazzziiiinnnnggggg!!!!! So much to choose from! Not to mention all-you-can-eat raw oysters, crab legs, omelettes, a carving station, a room just for dessert, and more! The staff is very professional and am always pleased when I come here to eat or just have a drink. From the casual side, to the bar, to the formal dining area, everyone and everything is top notch.

I will say this as a disclaimer. My previous experiences at Shaw's have been outstanding, but that was only for Oysters, in the Oyster Bar, sitting at the bar. Last night my gf and I went to Shaw's to use a 50.00 gift certificate I was given. We decided to eat in the Oyster Bar, due to our business attire at the time, wasn't a real "fancy night out" We sat down and our waitress Pamela came over and asked for our drink order, she seemed nice enough at the time. We ordered oysters rockafeller, calamari, mixed tempura veggies and shrimp, the Lobster Roll dinner, and an order of steamed asparagus with hollandaise. The highlight of our meal was the warm rolls served at the beginning. That's it. The calamari was over breaded and completely salty. The mixed tempura was so salty, my fiancee didn't finish it (it was her entree.) The Rockafeller was sub-par at best, no oyster taste what-so-ever (thank goodness it was half price.) The lobster roll, was surprising: The BEST part was the roll, obviously buttered and toasted and delicious. The WORST part was the lobster! It was tasteless, unseasoned, and sadly, TINY. A 5-inch roll with maybe half-cup of lobster does not really constitute a dinner menu item. I've had MUCH better lobster rolls, at much less fancy restaurants. Sadly, the waffle chips accompanying the roll were SALTY as well, and even the Pickle spear was over salted. Sadly, we concluded we should have gone to Tokyo Pub instead. The service, was not so hot either. This is the part I was SHOCKED at. Pamela was not the nicest, when it came time to give her our gift certificate. (I had gotten 2nd place in the annual oyster eating contest at shaws last year!) She let out a sigh when I gave it to her, (i was kind enough to do that before receiving our check.) As she walked away from us (abruptly, as i was still talking to her,) my fiancee saw her shaking her head. NOT COOL. She came back, threw the check down on the table, and walked away. She also had made sure to circle the actual total amount, AND write the ACTUAL total on the Credit Card slip!!!!!! As if I were a juvenile teenager who was going to skimp her on the tip!!!! Needless to say, Shaws, You left a sour taste in our mouth. :-(

I'm a huge fan of the Grand Crab Buffet for special occasions...it has an unbelievable selection of mouth watering cravings. I've seen a couple of complaints about the service on Yelp. My recommendation on the restaurant side of the house is to request Ashley as your server. She goes out of her way to ensure every visit to Shaw's is a thumbs up!

We went to the l seafood Sunday brunch and everything was outstanding. It's a little pricey but it had everything you could want - all you can eat oysters, Alaskan King crab legs, sushi, eggs benedict, lobster brie macaroni, made to order omlets, bannanas foster french toast, an excellent sweets table. Shaw's has a winner of a brunch here.

My girlfriend took me here for my 40th birthday and it was amazing! The atmosphere is that of a sports bar / fine dining mix. It is like having the best of both worlds in a single restaurant. Our waitress was very personable and friendly and made our visit enjoyable. The food was amazing! We started with the calamari and oyster Rockefeller appetizers and they were excellent. I ordered the Golden King and my girlfriend had their fish and both were incredible. For a better than average crab place, I would say that the prices were reasonable. You could do a lot worse for the same price. I will be looking forward to going there again and I would recommend to all my friends who enjoy seafood.

I've been to this location and the downtown location and I have enjoyed both. In fact, the downtown location was one of the first restaurants I visited when I arrived in Chicago. This place set the standard for me. It's a nice place to come with someone special to enjoy an easy night of good food at a relaxing tempo. As mentioned by others, it's best to make a reservation here to avoid heartache later. Once you arrive, you are greeted by smart looking attendants who usher you to a table. I like the booths because you sit up a little and get a nice view of the dining area you are in. The menu changes depending on what's in season (missed soft shell crab unfortunately) but there were plenty of tasty looking options for the fish and meat lover. Whilst you wait, they have wonderful breads and breadsticks to munch on. I can never remember which is which oyster when you get the sampler but it's all good! The shrimp and fish entree we ordered was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. Too many times it comes out overcooked and a little dry but not this time at this place. Not saying it can't happen but I've not experienced that. And as a LEYE restaurant we were able to rack up points and use a voucher so the meal was almost free! Result!!!!

We hadn't been to Shaw's in years, and were excited to try it again as a sort of holiday splurge meal. I left disappointed, and feeling like I'd been ripped off. Strong words, I know, but that's where I am. The decor is not my thing, but I could forgive that if the food were as good as the reputation suggests it should be. We had calamari as an appetizer, and it was quite tasty - best part of the meal, as it turns out. I had clam chowder, which was tasty, but nothing special - I've had much better chowder for much less $$$, so it was hard to get excited about it. My entree was scallops, and they tasted "off", as in "not fresh, trending towards bad". The spinach underneath was fine, but the rice pilaf accompaniment could have come from a box, or from Denny's. Overall, the dish was really underwhelming, particularly for the price paid. To add insult to injury, the portion size was meager at best. Around our table of 8, the reactions were largely the same about all the entrees - small, not well seasoned, and sorta boring, though the snow crab legs were delicious. So, overall, I doubt we'll go back. It was WAY too expensive for the mediocre preparations and small portion sizes, and there are any number of better choices for a delicious meal focusing on seafood. Disappointing. Update 01/12: Shaw's contacted me after I posted this review, which I appreciated. It's nice to know that they take customer satisfaction seriously enough to follow up when something appears off. As a result of this contact, we might give them a second chance. If so, I'll update the review again.

We went here with friends after having a mediocre experience at the Shaw's in Chicago. It was a night and day difference. I thought the food was still outstanding, but the service couldn't have been better. Our server, Bruce, was funny and patient answering questions from our group, and we were never lacking for anything. And their Bloody Mary is about the best I've ever had in a restaurant.

Not happy tonight. Five bones in my walleye. It is not that hard to serve a piece of walleye without bones. I do not appreciate having to cut my meal into peanut sized pieces before I eat it to make sure I don't accidentally swallow a fish bone.

While visiting the Chicagoland area I was browsing for some interesting places to eat in the vicinity of the visit. It looked like Shaw's had some hit or miss reviews here, but we decided to give it a whirl anyway. We don't stumble upon upscale seafood restaurants where I'm from but don't let that undermine this review. I know great seafood. I'm in Pike Place regularly, and can spot Copper River salmon on sight alone. We stopped in for their $39.99 Sunday buffet. The buffet is spread out in different locations; hot food, cold foods, and their bloody mary bar, and desserts. The cold side had a great selection of high quality sushis, what appeared to be Hama Hama oysters and sweet delicious U-15 shrimp, an interesting pastrami smoked salmon and a choice of two superb cerviches. The hot side had an assortment of traditional breakfast items, king crab and halibut. I'm always a little weary of buffets because of the time the food sits. I was very pleased with the quality and freshness of all of their items. They either were on top of swapping out food, or they had enough people to keep the food hot and fresh. I got my $40 worth and was overwhelmed with the options they had here. I would strongly recommend Shaw's Sunday Buffet. You're going to get an extensive amount of choice of top-notch seafood for an honest price.

I really enjoyed this restaurant! We came here for a birthday dinner and all of us left full and happy. I didn't know what to choose from the menu cause I pretty much wanted everything. 'Tis true. We started off dinner with a few Cosmopolitans and Lemon Drops! So tasty. Then we had the Oysters Sampler! The best of everything. We ordered the Oysters Rockefeller, Lobster Bisque, and Lobster Cocktails as appetizers. Not one was a disappointment! My favorite entree was probably the Tempura Maryland Soft Shell Crabs! Cooked to perfection, crispy and lots of flavor. To our surprise, the sushi here was really enjoyable! You have to try the King Crab Mikado and the Chicago Crazy Roll! Definitely a must try when you're in Chicago or Shaumburg!

My Father and I dined here for dinner last night while visiting the Chicago area. The food was OK, however the service was terrible. Our waitress, Karen with the "Australian Accent" was awful. She was not attentive and stopped serving our table. I requested to speak with the Manager, Jill by asking the hostess for assistance. Jill apologized and explained how "she doesn't understand why Karen would act in such a way." Blah blah. Jill then began to serve our table. She offered us complimentary dessert in which we declined. Luckily I work for a media outlet and will expose the restaurant by sharing my poor experience. Do not dine at this over priced and bad service restaurant.

All the gluten free options are marked on the regular menu with a black dot. Waitress understood cross-contamination and said that all allergy requests are marked in the kitchen and different utensils are used. It is always nice to have that reassurance when dining out. Seafood was delicious - crab, shrimp, scallop, all good!

Second visit-- We enjoyed our second visit very much. Freshest oysters this side of Bolinas, freshest stone crab we've had outside of Florida. Of course, the steamed live lobster was, well, alive a few minutes earlier... Spinach was better. Liked the casual side better--generally good music. Very fine. First visit-- The good: Best key lime pie outside of Key West, and I've had a LOT of key lime pie. A revelation. The zinfandel. Best since my NorCal youth. The fair: Most of the meal. Uninspired cole slaw, creamed spinach, au gratin potatoes, shrimp, crab cake (my wife loved it but I wasn't impressed), gumbo (and they don't have Crystal hot sauce for GUMBO?), king crab legs (no drawn butter offered?), the service and the corporate ambiance which felt like a stage set, not a restaurant. The ugly: Rancid scallops. The waitress apologized and offered us MORE SCALLOPS!!!! Oh, and the bill.

Have been to this location several times over the last few years but this is my first review. My wife and I came here on a quiet Monday Columbus Day afternoon. Quiet..we had made reservations arrived 15-20 early early and found the restaurant not busy at all. We sat in the main dining room. Maybe 6-7 tables were occupied. Our server was attentive. The food great as usual.Crispy Fried Calamari,Garlic Grilled Shrimp ,Crab Cakes that were loaded with crab and not filler. Server mentioned that the oysters are 50 cents since it was oyster fest week,so I got a few. My wife does not like oysters. The thing that stood out in this visit,we were celebrating our Wedding Anniversary and mentioned this when I made the online reservation. Not expecting anything free, they brought out a 4 mini dessert sampler free and took off the oysters from our bill. Oops almost forgot 2 glasses of Champagne on the house! The mini dessert consisted of Key Lime pie, Chocolate Cake,Creme Brûlée and Raspberry Pie. All in all we return here when a craving for seafood hits.

Dined here last Sat. night for our anniversary. I'd never been to Shaw's or any of the other Lettuce Entertain You franchises. So upon entering, I was reminded of the other franchises out there that have that whole high ceilings vibe. It was tasteful and very diverse in that they give you so many dining options under one roof if that's what you desire. We were given one of those franchise "y" remotes and within 5 min. we are at our table. We were not in a hurry, but it's always nice to see the server right away if for nothing else than to say, hey I see you and I'll be with you in a minute. We didn't have this until about 10+ min in. (which is fine we were NOT in a hurry) just noting that. Each time thereafter that she did come back (if we were not ready) it seemed like she took even longer than necessary to come back to get our drink order, our appetizer etc. her timing was really off. She gave us "the spiel" in the most "spiely" way possible. I had to ask for the token "sustainable menu" twice before she remembered to bring it by. I think it's hilarious that they tout the Aquarium in helping them come up with the list but they don't tell you ANYTHING about where or how each item finds it's way on their "sustainable menu". Which in my experience, is the WHOLE point of a sustainable menu right? But that's OK as I ordered the steamed crab legs. $63.00. My SO ordered Lobster pasta, I think that was $29?. We also ordered an appetizer of buffalo shrimp. It was clear we were not in a rush and that we were celebrating. We had cards on the table. This was a special dinner for us. Anyone who glance at our table for 5 sec. should have seen this right? Our buffalo shrimp were just barely warm as the breading/sauce had begun to separate from the shrimp because of this. (I'm 100% sure they were sitting under a heat lamp for much longer than they were supposed to be and that's what caused this. We were still eating our appetizer (one left) when our meal arrived!!! YES. That's right. Our dinner arrived about 10 minutes after the appetizer hit our table. I was not happy about this. I mentioned this immediately to the "runner" that dropped them off. By this time, all the little things are starting to form a line in my head... I think he offered to take them away but ? So what? They can "sit" in the window back there and then be brought out with congealed sauce and lukewarm centers? No. Thank. You. The server then was "summoned" I guess? I then mentioned we were still on our appetizers etc. She said that she too was surprized by the timing? Well thanks for that but what are you gonna do? She never offered to take the food and "remake it". It was at this time, I decided to tell her about a. the appetizer being cold. and b. how the dinner took less time to get than our drinks. (because after we ordered them, they too, took a bit longer than they should have) but hey, we are not the type to quip about time because we are "enjoying" ourselves. But enough is enough right? Like I said, everything was starting to "add up" . I was not expecting anything "free" but I don't like to spend $63.00 for a meal (and in a franchise to boot) and not feel like I'm getting "value" overall and just plain bad experience all around. I could have easily went to a 5 star restaurant and had the meal of a lifetime for just a tad bit more. So she took this all in and offered to take off the appetizer. OK fine. Now to the meal(s). The lobster pasta was not impressive. The pasta was not hand made. The sauce was flavorless as well. Nothing in that dish other than the lobster itself had remotely any kind of flavor profile. No layers of anything. Was it eatable? Yes. But not worth $29. It was closer to a $13-$15 (and I'm being very generous here) price point and only because of the lobster itself. The Crab. I would say the Crab was good enough. I mean how bad can it be right? But, I think I recall her saying that it was not "not' ever frozen spiel? Sorry, this was not fresh off the boat Crab either. (I lived in the pacific northwest OK?) I also think it was a bit "over steamed" because the texture when you bit into it had that fine line of roughness you get when you "over steam"/ over cook. That's fine when I do it at home but it's not OK when this is your forte. We NEVER saw her again until the plates were cleared! She then.. just showed up in front of us with a "complimentary" desert sampler tray. She was going to literally just plop them down and run away (again)..so again, I had to ask her a. what they were? she told us then was off to leave yet again.. (I had to call her back as she was making her exit to ask if we could have coffees or cappuccino? I really felt like she was "irritated" by me for being "irritated" by all these snafus.. Sorry, but it's YOUR job to hear me out when there are issues and resolve them without me "seeing your irritation towards me" .

Decided to celebrate mine and my sisters birthday here. Made reservations for a Saturday night for a party of 7. Being located in the Woodfield Mall area, the place was packed! I went to the hostess and gave the name... No reservation to be found. After calling over the manger and searching for a whole 30 seconds, still couldn't find the reservation. They said they would find us a table when one opens. We decided to wait since finding a restaurant in the area with an open table is as likely as Shaws having good customer service. 15 minutes...30 minutes...45 minutes...over and hour goes by nothing. No word from the manager, no drinks while we waited. Finally a table opens up. The waiter comes by, no hello, mumbles something about the special and leaves. She then comes back for our drink order- after rolling her eyes when my sister cracked a joke about being carded. Sense of humor? Need not apply at Shaws! Having been to the downtown Shaws on a few other occasions, I knew the food would be good- and it was! Seriously, the Nantucket Bay Scallops are truly to die for!! Someone alerts our peachy waiter that we have two birthdays at the table. She then comes back with two large pieces of chocolate cake with a sparkler candle (plus half a star for NOT singing happy birthday in an obnoxious waiter chorus line!). However, you would think that after having to wait over an hour because our reservation got up and walked away out of their computer, they could at least comp the $16 a piece chocolate birthday cake...Nah. No apology from the manager before, during, or after dinner. Great food. Poor service. Proceed at your own risk.

I really love Shaw's for their great seafood and crab selection, but the staff needs a refresh! From being greeted at the door by the most ungrateful hosting staff to the crabby servers, makes me question why I come here so often. I'll keep them with 4 stars since the food is always exceptional. We generally like getting seated in their lounge/bar area. If you want to seat in a more quiet side they have a traditional dining area.

I know it is one of the lamer items on their menu, but the fried shrimp platter is really so freaking good. And it is actually affordable - so that is a bonus. But I am so bummed...they got rid of their new potatoes. It was seriously the best side dish of anything in the area - I used to come here just for the new potatoes. But now they are gone...honestly I doubt I will come back. The food is good but so expensive.

Having been to the downtown location, I was expecting another incredible experience. Sure I was expecting the high prices but I wasn't expecting cold ribeye. Sure I like my steaks rare, but this was room temperature right as it came out and it wasn't just cold, but filled with grissle and had no flavor whatsoever. After they heated it up, I still wasn't happy. I didn't get an appology either. Ribeye is supposed to be bursting with flavor and juices, what did they give me? If I want Shaws again, I'll be headed to the downtown location before coming here.

Dining room was loud. The service was good. The food was average. The Grouper came out tough and was the smallest piece I've ever seen served for a dinner portion. The scallops were delicious, but the dinner was only 4 or maybe 5, served with nothing but the smallest salad (just a few strands of greens with a handful of tomatoes). Left the restaurant starving after asking for a second helping of bread. We will not return. Bob Chinn's is a much better choice for seafood & value.

This was as bad as it can be. One of the worst, if not the worst meal I've ever had. My MaiTai had so much coconut in it, it tasted like Pina Colada. Coconut in MaiTai? Really? Whatever. My boyfriend and I both ordered their signature dishes, for just under $60 each. When the waiter asked 'veggies or potatoes?' he never mentioned it's a $5 extra. I had the surf & surf, king leg crab and a lobster tail. My boyfriend had a filet mignon and a lobster tail. Crab and lobster tails were absolutely overcooked and dry. The butter that comes with it bitter. Filet Mignon was dry and chewy like an old shoe sole. Broccoli... I like my broccoli crunchy, but this was a disaster. The stems were completely raw and the flowers mushy and overcooked. My boyfriend had au gratin potatoes with i assume it was a Emmentaler cheese. not a good choice. Potatoes were greasy and soggy. We got a sauce Hollandaise and sauce Bernaise for the Broccoli and Steak, both were either bad, or the vinegar was not reduced enough before it was added. it tasted like vinegar pure. So, we still decided to try the desert. How bad can it be now.... My Creme Brulee was thin like water and runny, the sugar was gummy like and not crisp. His Key Lime Pie was half frozen and grainy, and the crust was soggy, especially on the bottom. The server never even asked us if anything was okay. The bill (without appetizers and only one drink) was $170. We left $200 and on our way out told the hostess how terrible the food was. They assured us they would let the management know. I've eaten better at a China Buffet and Red Lobster. This place was a nightmare. Two good things: Real linens with NO paper over them. AMEN. Iced water was quite good. Never again.

Great Crab cakes, & clam chowder, the filet with shrimp was very good, the scallops were amazing. My only complaint was my red potatoes were kinda cold. Key Lime pie was good, but not as good as you get in The Florida Keys. Very nice atmosphere & great wait staff.

I haven't been here in a few years, but this is really some of the best seafood I've ever had. I have been to shaw's maybe 5 or 6 times. Every time it is spot on. They always have new specials that prepare fish in wonderful ways. Its always been so good that I go home and try to recreate the recipes on my own and I keep making them over and over. Definitely make reservations if you want to eat in the dining room on a weekend - they book up fast and you'll never get a table until 11pm. Alternatively, you can get the same menu in the bar area and you will only wait about an hour on average. But its a much nicer experience in the dining room. The service is wonderful and attentive, very classy, classic Chicago seafood/steakhouse restaurant. I love the tall ceilings here and the white crisp tablecloths. It's more than worth the price you will pay for dinner. I love it and miss it now that I don't live in Chicago anymore!

Hey, what the heck - gave Shaw's another try - a few friends mentioned that after we shared the story of our first visit, that it might have just been the server and not the place - Well, indeed, better service, still good food, small portions - but generally nice place to enjoy seafood - not a jumping for joy review - this time enjoyed a pasta with fish of the day - was tasry, sauce not overwhelming - wife enjoyed halibut - still on the costly side, but an uptown place - and again, the server did a better job in working the table - we'll probably return one day

Shaw's is very much like a steak house that specializes in seafood. This location is outside of a large mall. The exterior is a little uninspiring, but once inside, I was impressed. The fish taco's were done right. Service was fine. Fries are the big "I feel like I'm eating a fried potato" kind. The crab spring roll appetizer was very good as well. I like the decor. Painted brick on the inside. Lots of wood. Good light - not too much, but just right (most steak houses get the lighting thing wrong). And, there is a lot of cool "art" on the walls - old photographs, old cartoons from magazines, paintings and the like. But what was really caught my attention - and I'm not making this up - was the art in the men's room. As I was walking out, I noticed an interesting old-time pinup girl in a frame. Upon closer inspection it was from a 1943 calender. The image could really be described as "oh so slightly naughty wholesome" - nothing showing leaving everything to the imagination :-). I actually walked back in and discovered three more - over the urinals - which seems a little weird I know, but made sense in some sort of zen way. And, they really were original calendar are as there was some wear and tear and with a hanger hole at the top of the panel. Upon further (later) research I found that there are the classic "Petty Girls," all done by the artist George Petty. He was a prolific pin-up artist and contributed to Esquire Magazine for over 20 years around the 1940s. freeclassicimages.com/im… So cool

This is a great place for Sunday Brunch. I started at the cold bar, worked my way to the Grand Hot buffet and finished with a made to order omelet and some tenderloin. I'm not usually a waffle fan, but I went back for a second!! I had a blood orange mimosa. A nice twist on the classic.

What's not to like about Shaw's? OK, the prices maybe, but you certainly get what you pay for. If you can't tell the difference between quality seafood prepared perfectly and, say Red Lobster, go to Red Lobster. Shaw's delivers what few others can and sometimes you damn well deserve the best - Shaw's. Oysters are fresh and about as tasty as you will find. Look for the specials.

We came here for lunch, I this place is way over rated. The prices and menu are similar McCormick and Smick's, however the portions are much smaller, the food quality and service falls far short of comparable restaurants such as McCormick and Smick's. For example, I had seafood Pasta. The pasta is supposed to have shrimp, squid and clams. The actual dish only came with shrimps and strips of squids and a pretty bland tomato sauce - and there was no clams to be found in the pasta. Our server did not bring a soup spoon for the clam chowder. IMO you can get better clam chowder from Dominicks, the local grocery stores, which come pre-made in tubs. We had to ask our server for butter for the bread, cheese and pepper for the pasta. Come on, these are items you expect to be made available automatically for a restaurants of this caliber when ordering a pasta dish. My friends' other dishes were disappointing as well. Our experience at the Chicago location is much better than this place. This was the reason we decided to dine here instead of elsewhere.

I tried the New England Lobster roll and it was a mistake. I should've known it wouldn't taste as good as the one you can get in Boston. The bun was good but not enough lobster for the price and didn't taste as good. The atmosphere of the restaurant seems nice and the service was good but the food is just ok.

Not a bad place, the seafood was fresh and good. I would say its more of a special occasion spot as it can be fancy. We had oysters and shrimp cocktail to start which were good, and for entree I had the crab legs and lobster bisque all very good. My husband had crabcakes and he seemed to enjoy them. Since it was our anniversary we got a dessert on the house which we chose. We selected the moose tracks which was yummy. Id give it a go if your in the area, but I wouldnt make the trek here if your farther..like me.

Overpriced, crowded and loud setting- I wanted my money back; seriously, Husband and I went here on a whim for a date. Waited 20 minutes to be seated (eerr) then another 15 to be approached for drinks. The inside dinning areas is brightly lit, tables are very close to one another, and the booths are cumbersome to get in and out of and feels more like a trucker restaurant due to the booths. Our server was very nice and knowledgable (LIKE) about the food selections and what to expect. I went with his recommendations and ordered the salmon. This place is a suppose to be known for their seafood. I received my salmon and asparagus, not very flavorful given it was a cedar plank salmon, it was soft, oily, and flavorless. Along with my entree came the asparagus, they served me 8 1/2 inch butt ends of asparagus; greedy! My husband ordered steak (as usual) but he was not very impressed. This is the kinda place you expect to pay over $100 for a meal and be satisfied. My suggestions, if your in the area, save your money or make reservations to Wildfire you will not go wrong there.

Overpriced and overcooked. How can anyone give this place four stars? Four small dried out king crab legs for $50. Didn't think its possible to find a bigger rip off than Bob Chin's, but Shaws delivers.

This is a restaurant I've eaten at more than a dozen times. This place offers quite a variety of seafood, all of which is very fresh. The chowder, lobster bisque and gumbo are all fabulous and they have all three soups every day! Sushi, crab, shrimp, fish... They have it all!Not to mention, they start off with these garlicky buttery rolls.

I'm a huge fan of Shaw's downtown. I do not like the suburbs. I did not think the two could mix, yet, they do and they do successfully. This place is usually packed and the bar is hopping, even on a week night. Go for the happy hour half-priced oysters, stay for the dirty martinis. The 'burbs are lucky to have Shaw's - so accessible, easy parking and you can make reservations on Open Table. It almost makes me want to move to the burbs. Almost.

Went to Shaws on Saturday Afternoon to celebrate a graduation. Started off with bloody marys, martini and oysters. Bloody Mary was great with a large shrimp along with other goodies, Acai Berry Lemondrop martini delicious and oysters fresh and yummy. Hot large seafood appetizor plate for the table was worth the price. Everyone ordered something different from the menu and our plates were cleaned. I had the chopped seafood salad with lobster, crab and shrimp. It was fabulous! They threw in a chocolate cake for the graduate. Can't wait to go back for my birthday

Yes, I understand ordering chicken at a fish joint is like ordering pants from Costco*. Just because it's there, doesn't mean you should get it. Stop Four: Who ever came up with the expression "Chicken of the sea" clearly doesn't know chickens have no business being near water... Yes, I'm being funny! We decided to grab a Sunday lunch in the burbs (I know the burbs! ;) CG). Again nice hostess and a barrage of waiters from water, to drink order, to bread, all saying hello and almost inferring that they are our waiter before our actual waiter get there. I don't understand this and it's the same for all the Lettuce locations (Someone will have to explain this to me)! Service was kind of bad but to be fair it wasn't his fault, he had lots of tables and nobody seemed to be helping him. Plus I think he was running the bar area. I kind of like the decor, in my opinion places who put tons of crap on their walls I think cater to those with A.D.D. and or a child. But on the flip side I think it's something to distract you from the wait or maybe even how bad the food might be?! Tuna, Guacamole, and chips -All I can really say is really FREAKIN good! Bloody Mary -Nice and spicy just how I like them. My date had the Oven Roasted Alaskan Halibut -Horseradish Crust, Vine Ripened Tomato, Green Beans, Tomato-Herb Butter... Her response Excellent! I ordered the Parmesan Crusted Chicken Breast - Sauteed Spinach & Lemon Butter Sauce... God awful!!! I didn't taste any Parmesan, chicken was pound flat in some areas but not others and due to that 90% was over cooked. Let me explain I'm not supposed to eat fish or most meats due to a dietary restriction hence the chicken. Here is my problem and you might agree but if you're going to have an item on a menu you should at least be able cook it well or don't have it on the menu... RIGHT!??! This goes for any kind of restaurant anywhere. Shaw's your chicken sucks!! Though, I will say that if I could eat fish I would probably give Shaw's another try. *Costco = my purgatory. Also a true story about the pants

This is our favorite restaurant in the burbs. Every time we've gone the oysters are great, and our service is almost always excellent. I say almost always because we've had mediocre servers just a small handful of times. But sometimes we go and there is a waiter that remembers us and knows us, and we remember a lot of their faces too and know which ones have been there a while. The sushi is good and fresh. They use REAL crab, obviously, not like most sushi restaurants so that is why it costs a little bit more, as it should. The seafood is very fresh. Never had a bad dish, but I usually stick with the crab, oysters, lobster bisque, parmesan crusted haddock and ALWAYS their bloody mary. Yum! The brunch is also superb!!! I would highly recommend it. AGree with a previous poster... whoever compares this to Red Lobster is nuts! Hubby and I love seafood and have tried many seafood places in and around the city... honestly this is one of the best for consistently good fresh seafood. Red Lobster... i mean to even compare, you gotta be kidding. There's a reason why Red Lobster doesn't serve oysters or sushi ... they don't have fresh seafood. Their crab is awful. I really love Shaw's and even our friends who come from out of town request to go there when they come to visit. In the Midwest, you can't go anywhere else for good seafood at a decent price.

This was our first visit to Shaw's, and it will not be our last. We had 8:45 resv. and arived on time, we sat in the bar for a drink, then sat down. The first table they offered we rejected due it location right next to the servers station, but they found us a booth shortly afterward. My wife ordered the Soft Shell Crab which was the best she had ever had, I had the Halibut which was served with capiers and a lemon butter sauce over spinich. The thing that hit me the most was "I hate Fish", I was there for my wife, but I would happly order the Halibut over and over again it was that good. We ordered the potatos au gratin for a side and it was very good. Jimmy our waiter was awesum and made some good recomendations, we will be back.

Went here last Friday for crab fest, but funnily didn't have it as a main course. I've been to the Shaw's downtown and I do like the suburban one better. For some reason, I feel it is less busy and the wait staff just seems nicer. We sat in the casual dining area which was still pretty nicer. Friend made a comment that the section we sat in looks like the nicer area except not as dim. Food itself was good. We split a bowl of lobster bisque.. kinda lumpy and not very creamy as I always thought a bisque should taste like.. then again I also like aldi's clam chowder a lot over higher end places so maybe I just don't know how soup is supposed to be. Also had the crab bites which were good, but then again how can one really mess up cutting the legs (probably only one or two legs) and steaming them? At 17 dollars I think I could of done the exact same thing in a much better quantity! Probably will when I think about it :P My friend and I split an entree and had the combination of an 8 oz fllet mignon, scallops, and shrimp. The shrimp was really good as we both liked how they prepared it. I really loved the scallops and thought that was done really well. What bothered me was the meat as we did ask for it medium rare and it came out to be what seemed to be more than medium in doneness. Didn't complain as seemed to be more of a hassle than anything else. Overall this place is good and would go to again. If it wasn't for the price and quality we got I'd give this higher, but definitely an "A-OK" place!

Restaurants like this exist for expense accounts and the unimaginative. I went with a customer and a group of coworkers this week. We reserved a private room upstairs. While our evening was very nice, it was not due to the food or the service. We started with a sushi platter, which was fine. Twice the price and half the quantity of a good sushi place. The quality of the sushi was fine, but no means exceptional. Dirty bread plates and spotted flatware are things that should just not happen in any restaurant, especially one that charges what Shaw's does, I had the special grouper crusted with pumpkin seeds. It was dry, and under-seasoned. Normally I would have returned it but I did not want to make my guest feel uncomfortable. It is amazing to me how busy Shaw's is and continues to be. They are over priced, under seasoned, and really missing it when it comes to the details.

Confusion reigns in this restaurant. First, though we had a reservation for our party of 4 on a Saturday night, we were not seated when we arrived but were asked to wait in the bar. The bartender was inattentive and unfriendly, verging on rude. My $10.50 bloody mary was thrown together carelessly and very light on the vodka. We were never called to our table but had to go find someone and remind them we had a reservation. Once at our table we had a way too "brisk" waitress. She seemed mildly annoyed by our questions. I wondered if she had been trained at Ed Debevics! We wanted to order a bottle of wine and were given a different wine list than the one we had reviewed while waiting in the bar. From the bar wine list we selected and had planned to order a $33 bottle of Malbec, but that reasonably priced wine was not on the higher priced dining room wine list. We asked for the other wine list and got it, but our waitress again acted annoyed. Tip: If you eat in the dining room, ask for the bar wine list. The problems continued during dinner. I ordered the crab cakes and asked what comes with this entree. I was told either boiled potatoes or creamed spinach. Or I could substitute a different side--for a price. I chose broccoli and my little substitution cost $5. Twice while we waited for our dinners to be served, different wait staff tried to serve us dinners that were not ours. When our food arrived, the two members of our party who ordered the crab cakes were surprised to see not only crab cakes but french fries and cole slaw on our plates--not at all what our waitress described earlier. She acted like it was no big deal. The kitchen had gotten confused and given us the plate one gets if they order on the other side of the restaurant. I did get a massive plate of broccoli which was cold and she did not charge for it "because of the confusion." Just a very unpleasant aura about the place. It's not nice to try and trick your guests, and we definitely felt like we were being tricked from the start. On top of the poor experience, the food was mediocre at best. We will not be going back.

What else can I say about this place - another great experience today. Once again, we chose the Sunday Brunch. Arrived at 12 Noon - table was ready, and off to the races. Great Service Great Food - the quality is always top notch Great Variety - there were a number of new items on the menu today. They still had the cold Alaskan King Crab legs in the 'cold' bar - but today they also had Snow Crab Legs in the 'hot' bar - a good variety. I had not had snow crab before, and although it's smaller....it was very sweet and tasty. I don't know how they do the bacon, but it's the best. Today they also had Eggs Benedict - perfectly cooked, very light Hollandaise sauce. The scalloped potatoes also had a very light sauce - not overly creamy or rich. They were very, very good. As always, the shrimp cocktail, oysters on the half shell, salads, sushi, fried shrimp, roast turkey, roast beef tenderloin - was all GREAT. This place is a 'splurge' that is well worth it for us, and we'll keep coming a few times a year.

We visited this place on a late saturday night and the restaurant was packed. We had to wait for around 15 mins to be seated. We instantly knew what to expect !!!! We got seated and this waiter comes n blabbers something about their famous dish and walks away. lol. A bit weird. We go ahead and decide to order a lobster bisque and a mojito which comes within 2 mins of our order. Wow. Fast service. Then we order the shrimp appetizer which also arrives really fast and tastes good too. They don't even ask how the dish was and are not very warm while taking the order. Later, our waiter just disappears and another lady comes n takes our order. The king crab nigiri-sashimi which is just one piece item tastes good, lobster avocado cucumber maki sushi is wonderful, while the shaw's seafood platter is amazing n superbbbb!!!! just loved all the dishes we had. On the dessert side, i liked the creme brulee (my favorite), but the key lime pie was a huge disappointment. It tasted like frozen lemonade (clearly an overdose of lemonade) and my husband had a hard time eating it. Overall, with the only exception of the key lime pie, we loved what we were offered. However, the service was very disappointing because they were closing i guess and the waiters - both behaved weird. So, overall a 3.5 rating. If only for the food, then a 4.5 rating (minus 0.5 for key lime pie) Would definitely visit this place again.

Great place to dine in or have a lunch that you can splurge a little bit on. I love coming to a place where everything feels fresh, from the food to the linen to plates... everything. This place has a menu and if your into seafood like I am then you will love it. They have great sushi... its not really something they promote but it really is good. The rolls are tight and the sashimi is always fresh. It also has a great 2nd floor that can be used to do small gatherings, makes for a real nice time. I will always return.

Went to the Sunday Brunch today and I have to say I was extremely impressed. The selection of cold seafood was great, with smoked salmon, ceviche, shrimp cocktail, sushi and more. There was regular brunch selections such as carved turkey, ham, and roast beef. The lobster bisque is incredible. There was crab legs, crab cakes, and pasta with lobster, along with bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, and potatoes and vegetables. We had a table in the bar area, which was quieter than the main dining room or the oyster bar, but each area has it's own atmosphere and all good. I highly recommend it.

We've been her multiple times before and each time the service gets more mediocre. Except for the bussers. Alberto, our busser was 10x more friendly than our waiter, Mr. Steve who was distant, took forever to get our food to us and treated my B-I-L rudely by snapping his menu page over to what he was addressing. He's 40, not 10. We had three apps, sushi, tempura (needs a description - came in rolls) and crab bites. Dinners were salmon, scallops, filet and lobster pasta. The best was the scallops. We sat in the bar, which at first was a little loud, but was the better choice as the main dining room was very loud - not great for older folks w/ hearing issues and people watching was better. I am a huge stickler for service, probably more than others I know. When we didn't get a genuine, look-in-the-eye hello or glad you're here type welcome, I knew it was going to be blah service. Mr. Steve was aloof, seemed put out by our requests (extra bread as we had to wait very long in between ordering apps and our actual dinners) and for my FIL who ordered root beer (which I know is unusual, but give the old guy a break). I know they were busy, but you are in the service industry; get over yourself and deal with it if you'd like a normal tip. Take a lesson from Alberto who refilled water and coffee with a smile, a joke/comment and a sincere "thank you". Next time we come back, and we will - the DH is a crab fiend - we will be sure to ask for Alberto.

I was impressed with Shaws as I didn't quite know what to expect of a nice seafood restaurant in the suburbs located right outside of a mall. Especially a seafood place in the mid western suburbs - how DO they get fresh fish and crabs and lobsters out here? I was expecting a more upscale Red Lobster - white hairs enjoying a 5 o'clock dinner in a quiet room with attentive waiters and expensive drinks. But, I was wrong! Every time I have come to Shaws it has been for a large "family" lunches or dinner. Every time the service has been exceptional. The waiters were always checking up on us and assisted the elderly as well as the rambunctious 3-year old. (they offered her crayons and a coloring book as well as picture books) She was also entertained by the friendly front hostess and the lobster tank next to the hostess station. The only seafood I really like is Crab, and I have really enjoyed their crab cakes (impressive coming from a previous resident of Annapolis, queen of crab cakes!) and their chilled Alaskan crab bites. The crab dip was only so-so. Family members did enjoy other seafood selections including the lobster bisque, lobster roll, oysters, and the scallops. I tried the sushi here once and was really surprised how fresh it was! They have a pretty large sushi menu. I prefer the dining room, reminiscent of a 40's suave lounge. A little bit of a more upscale dining experience. But, the oyster bar has a fun art deco ambiance that is laid back and offers specials. The cocktails are overpriced, as well as some of the menu items, but could be worth it for a special dinner I suppose, but your bill can really add up here!

Well dear readers I know it has been a while. Yes, my wife and I are on vacation this week. And yes, we are dining out. Well our oldest daughter needs a ride to 2 commercials she is filming and dear old Mom and Dad agree. The last commercial shoot ends around 4:30 and we are out in the Schaumburg area. So we all agree to head over to Shaws. The place is beautiful, very clean and the service is super friendly. Our hostess is a very, very beautiful young woman. Our waiter, Daniel H. is a very helpful and friendly young man. I start by ordering appetizers, I usually just love appetizers. And since I can not decide, I pick a bowl of the Clam Chowder at $7.99, a bowl of the Gumbo at at $7.99 and finally (yes a third bowl) of the Jambalaya at $9.99, because the cups were all way too small. All served together as my main course meal. Along of course with three baskets of extremely, buttery and very good biscuits. The New England Clam Chowder was loaded with ingredients. It was extremely creamy and very delicious. My wife said it was probably some of the best Clam Chowder we have ever had. The Seafood Gumbo was loaded with seafood pieces. It was not too spicy at all. And not only did it hit the spot but, again was another strong dish. Finally the Jambalaya was truly delicious. Again it was loaded with ingredients and really filled me up. Another outstanding dish at Shaws. Which is probably why I had to get all three, as I could not decide between them. I ended up being totally full and I could not eat another item. My wife ordered the Stuffed Walleye at $29.99 with asparagus. Asparagus is her very favorite and the quality at Shaws did not let her down, The walleye was so tender and flakey and also was very buttery in a good tasting way. The stuffing in the walleye was very good also. My wife just loved her dish. My oldest daughter ordered the Salmon at $28.99, which she usually loves. Now I am usually not a big salmon fan but this was actually good. It was tender and not too strong on the salmon flavor. It also came with very good veggies. My daughter finished off her dish too. We were all way too stuffed to order any desserts. So at roughly $105 dollars for our meal and drinks it was a very expensive night out but a very GOOD night out. With super friendly service and very good meals we would recommend Shaws. You just might want to make it a special night occasion type of meal.

First time there. If you want a steak or chicken, this isn't the place for you, as there are only 3 choices. Great selection of seafood entrees though. If you like raw oysters, the Sampler Platter is extraordinary. We enjoyed the baked halibut, seafood salad and sashimi were all very good. The ambience was also very good. Consider it a place to check out.

I ate here as a weary traveler on a long road trip. I was staying nearby and this place had pretty good reviews so I checked it out. First off, I love the interior. It's very old school-swanky and I really wish I'd had the energy to dress up because I feel like this is a late 40s/early 50s kind of decor where you should dress up to go eat. But, these are modern times and people don't do that as much anymore so I guess I fit in OK. But, the interior is very nice and I like the Sinatra and Dean Martin playing and all that was going on. We sat in the oyster bar section, which is definitely a bit more casual. Our service was great other than one stretch before we could where I thought they forgot about us (I might have just been really hungry but it seemed like we waited quite a long time to order) but our server made up for this by giving us a piece of delicious chocolate cake at the end of our meal (and, since we were stuffed, they let us take it to go). We split the double wedge salad which was a very good blue cheese wedge salad with bacon, mushrooms, blue cheese crumbles and dressing. They nicely pre-split it out onto two plates for us and I gobbled my part down quickly. My entree was the halibut which came with green beans and had a horseradish crust. It was maybe not my favorite way to eat halibut but it was a nice big piece of fish, well-cooked, and reasonably priced for what I got. The green beans were good, too. My DC had the Alaskan salmon and I didn't try it but he said it was very good and he ate it all. I wanted a small dinner so this was maybe a little pricey for that but it was very good seafood. I would return but I might try to fix myself up a little more so I fit in better at this classy joint.

I brought my husband here for his birthday dinner, and while we enjoyed a delicious meal, I feel like we could have gotten more bang for our buck. Pros - We both shared a meal for two which consisted of petite filets, scallops, and shrimp (along with a couple of sides). It came with dessert and we were stuffed for the next 24 hours, or so it seemed. Cons - Being a seafood house, I was not expecting to pay less than $100. I completely understand that and was prepared to pay more for a nicer meal. However, I feel that the wait staff was just there for the tips. Our waiter was not warm or friendly towards us, and I felt like we were a burden on him. So...food = good. Service = meh. If you are going to go out for a nice dinner, go somewhere else. We've had good luck at Pete Miller's.

I loved it.. The service and food are great. Mario served us. We ordered cold stone crabs, soup, steak and crab legs.. Everything were excellent and service is fast....

So what attracted me to this place was I read somewhere they had the best oysters in the Chicago. Granted, I went to the Schaumburg location; but man the oysters were good. We tried the sampler, and the best ones were by far the Nantucket and the Moonstone oysters. I found the other oysters either too briney or too meaty and bland. I've had oysters on Cape Cod; the Nantucket and Moonstone oysters were comparable. People always poo poo the seafood in the Chicagoland area; but thank goodness for O' Hare airport and our daily shipments of seafood. Also, 3-6p everyday half price oysters. All varieties are a dozen for $25 regular price. Great great deal. I'll definitely be back for that. I'm a sucker for bread...since I guess I'm cheap or something. But they were gooood. Garlicky with what seemed to be a sprinkling of dry oregano, thyme and basil. They also serve sushi at this place. Granted I"m sure Shaw's gave the proper respect for the art, but i dunno; I believe that establishments should stick to their guns. So we ordered an assortment of things. The King Crab was good, but not as good as Bob Chinn's. I felt the crab was a bit too soft, and they coulda been a bit more helpful making it easier to open. The Dungeness Crab was so so. The crab altogether tended to be kinda salty. Then again, my Korean palate is adverse to salt. The crab cakes were about 2-3 inches in diameter and pretty damn meaty and flaky. I haven't been able to try too many crab cakes; but I really did enjoy the hardiness of these crab cakes. My brother ordered the lobster stuffed with blue crab. It was pretty damn tasty. I thought it was better than the crab overall. Which is unfortunate, since a crab house should rock out at crab, y'know? And I ordered the seafood platter. The shrimp was so-so. But the scallops were great; delicate yet firm, not at all bland and not overseasoned either. I'm not a big fan of scallops usually, but these were the bee's knees. The rice was boring. Creamed spinach forgettable. Red potatoes were delicious and served in some buttery hollandaise-esque sauce. Key lime pie was tart and refreshing. So in summary: Crab was good, but it's better at Bob's. Lobster was surprisingly good and the oysters were outstanding, especially at the happy hour price. Also, the food kinda takes a while. Keep that in mind! Pricey, but definitely worth going at least once. If not for a casual oyster :)

The food was mouth watering delicious. I had the filet and literally have never had a better one in my life. My boyfriend had the steak and the crab legs and he said that the steak was like butter and the crab was the best prepared he's ever had. I would say they are very pricey but worth it. Too be unbiased- the decor was pretty awful and I couldn't stop staring at a part of the ceiling that obviously had water damage, plus their bathrooms weren't as clean as I would have prefered. And, the sides of vegetables were VERY Bland....... but, the amazingness of the steak made up for all of the other nonsense.

People really seem to like this place, but not me. Once you get past the expensive (and slow) valet parking you have the "brisk" wait staff. I ordered the maryland lump crab cake that would make anyone from the east coast shudder (not flavorful or particularly fresh tasting). I ordered the horseradish encrusted halibut with was dry as hell and I didn't dig the "crust" which made the fish even more dry. My martini was OK but expensive (like everything else, for the caliber of food). The highlight was the bananas foster desert which was a crepe with bananas foster sauce and bananas on top.

One of my favorite restaurants! This place has 3 of my favorite things: 1. Fresh oysters 2. Great Filet Mignon steaks. 3. Crab Great place to eat. They also have Oyster happy hours where all oysters are half price.

Came here for Easter brunch. I heard of unlimited oysters during brunch at a price of 29.99. Being a fan of oyster hour why not. Since my friend and I did not make reservations we got seats at the bar. They were only serving brunch until 3pm. There was breakfast food and regular seafood. So.. unlimited waffles, king crab legs, regular crab legs, omelet station, carving station, lobster bisque, shrimp, some other seafood, oysters, sushi with real crab meat, desserts and a complimentary mimosa/bloody mary. This is great! But.. as my friend and I gorged on this almost equivalent buffet you would find in Vegas, we found out it was 49.99. haha. Should have ate less waffles. My other dislike was the oysters. They were shucked in the back and the juices were gone; they appeared dried and whithered.. It wasn't 6 species, just one. So now I know, shucked oysters at buffets are a no no.

Don't forget your wallet. This place rocks! I have never had a bad meal from here nor left hungry. Large portions and seafood to die for. I have never done their Crab Fest but planning on it sometime. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it and writing this review. It is pricy but I think everybody should go here at least once if your a seafood fan.

As a Frequent Diner member of Lettuce Entertain You restaurants, I have to comment on how disappointed I was when I last visited Shaw's this past Sunday. The recent menu changes, i.e., happy hour specials of oysters, removal of the spicy tuna roll, and the removal of the burger on the menu, and some drink changes, have left me feeling that I don't much care if I go back to Shaw's. I happened to have wanted the happy-hour oysters, the spicy tuna roll, and the burger with a Ginger martini for dinner. Every single one of these options was removed since I was last there, so my experience was especially negative. I was very unimpressed by our server, which did not help my visit either. This was always my top choice of restaurants. Sadly, I do not think it is any longer. Naturally, I was disappointed in most everything I ordered, because every single thing I was craving that day was no longer offered, or was at full price when I expected otherwise.

Went here for my grandmas birthday last night expecting a lot from all the reviews I had read. Everything was SMALL. My mojito came in a glass the same size as my water glass, the maki combo was great but very small, and my Shaw's seafood platter was an understatement! When I think platter I think overflowing plate. This was a tiny crab cake, 3 small scallops and 3 shrimp that were stuck in the shell. The waiter also messed up my grandmas order. The only good part was the piece of chocolate cake they brought her for her birthday. I will not be going back here and wouldn't recommend it to people.

I went to this place in 2011 for the Sunday Brunch and was THRILLED with the quality of crab legs and the whole thing in general. UNFORTUNATELY, when I planned to go there this year and was raving about it to my family that was coming in from out of town we were VERY disappointed!! The crab legs on Feb. 5th were no longer King Crab, they were small, weak, over-cooked, chinese buffet quality crab legs. NOT SURPRISINGLY, the price was still the same. I will admit the rest of the food was fine, probably even good. BUT, I was there for crab legs. My facebook picture for almost a year was of a giant king crab claw that was big enough to grab on to my face from cheekbone to eye brow, and I sent countless people to the restaurant because of that crab legs buffet. The crab did not snap to crack, it smushed and we had to kind of saw through it, just to get dry meat. It's hard to dry out meat in something that is steamed... I am sad to report that I will not be going back here. For a CRAB HOUSE, I can get a better deal going to a chinese buffet for crab. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED UPDATE: My post has never seen the light of day. Nobody has contacted me from the restaurant to apologize for the terrible meal, but apparently not all posts get on YELP, especially when they're bad. If I had been more knowledgable about this stuff for the good experience I would've posted that and I'm sure it would've been up, but Nope....bad posts somehow don't get up. AVOID THE BUFFET (if anyone ever sees this)

Easily my favorite restaurant in Schaumburg. Great appetizers (the sushi or oysters are a great choice), great entrees (I love the seafood platter, go with the up charge and get the lump crab), adn teh signature raspberry pie is the champ. Ask for Mike as your waiter; very skilled at his craft. You'll be blown away.

We went for a brunch as recommended by a co-worker and honestly it was a great experience. We went home happy and satisfied that day. There's wide array of selections, from typical American brunch e.g. bacon, omelette, etc. for our kids and seafoods for me and my wife. The seafoods buffet section is on the other side just across the lobby. I like the oyster bar, oysters are so fresh and THE CEVICHE is the main killer in my own opinion, 2 kinds of ceviche for real. Also the lobster bisque soup is so flavorful and rich. It was worth it of the price we pay $ 130 for a family of 4 not bad huh. Our server was very good too. I will definitely come back for the Ceviche and more seafoods.

I'm very impressed with Shaws. There's more to this restaurant than meets the eye. From a holistic view, Shaw's has it all: decor, food, service and selection. It's a well run and a well managed restaurant. It's not inexpensive, but it's reasonably priced. They have a great lunch menu and have a an oyster hour between 3-6pm (7 days a week). All their oysters are 1/2 off and 1/2 off the tuna maki. I was impressed with their oyster selection. They have 6 different varieties. The restaurant is becoming well known for their sushi, also. I recommend Shaw's for couples and people 28+. It's the Gibsons/Morton's crowd, but I much prefer the energy at Shaw's. It also looks like a good place for large parties. They have many private rooms.

Went here for Easter brunch and it was gosh darn tasty. It's a chain so I knew what to expect, but I was very pleased. The quality of food was great and there was a lot to choose from. I am not a HUGE fan of seafood, but everything I had tasted great, including the oyster bar. The wait staff was all very friendly and knowledgeable even though the place was packed the for the entire duration of our meal. The only thing that really irked me was the setup, it was quite odd. Since the restaurant is broken up into two large rooms (separated by the main entrance lobby area) they had some food in one room, some food in another and the desert section in the lobby (where the host stand is). Since the place was so jumpin, there was constant stream of people in the lobby was it was extremely difficult to get from on side to the other. I don't know if this could be fixed giving the setup of the restaurant, but I think they should definitely consider something to help the traffic flow. All in all, it was a good experience, I would probably go back for a brunch again if I was in the area, but maybe not when its crazy full on a holiday.

over priced, everything is a la carte, "oh you want potatoes? That will be an extra 8 dollars, but it's enough for two". Get outta here with that, really. Expensive for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

Shaw's is very typical of a "fine" seafood restaurant. It was quite good but nothing spectacular if you are looking for something unique. It has all the fixins of a Rat Pack hangout. The service was good however. I was impressed that the entire service staff was helping throughout the dining room. The food was not your average Red Lobster but it certainly wasn't the finest food ever. I'd go back though. If that's any indication of quality then consider it good.

I could basically sum up Shaw's by saying OMG!!! I LOVE this place! Sure, I'm biased because I used to work there back in the day when they first opened and it was one of the coolest jobs I ever had, but for real! This place never disappoints! It doesn't matter what you order. It will be delicious! I go for lunch all the time with a friend of mine who also opened the Schaumburg location and we switch it up and try to order different things all the time and no matter what we get, it always rocks. Best clam chowder and lobster bisque ever. The lobster roll, the halibut with horseradish crust, the crab cakes, all of the sushi, the oysters on the half shell, EVERYTHING IS DELICIOUS! My husband and I go for Sunday brunch a lot and I have three words for ya. Best. Brunch. Ever. The main dining room has all of the breakfast stuff (eggs benedict, corned beef hash, the best bacon I have ever had, sausage, potatoes, crab cakes, snow crab, fried shrimp, french toast with bananas foster sauce, pasta with lobster and brie, chicken strata, and more....it seems like the table goes on forever.) The pastry table has a ton of stuff on it too (key lime pie, chocolate dipped Oreos and strawberries, creme brulee, chocolate espresso mousse cups, raspberry tarts, homemade cookies, a ton of candies and a lot of other stuff). In what used to be called the Red Shell Lounge is the cold part of the buffet. OMG. Two different kinds of lox, maki rolls, oysters on the half shell, a few different kinds of ceviche, shrimp cocktail with big ol' fat shrimp, king crab bites, salads and the carving station that has beef tenderloin, herbed turkey breast and an omelet and waffle bar. There is also a bloody mary and mimosa bar in the main dining room, but we haven't tried it yet. Yes, you will drop some loot eating here. However, it is well worth it for the quality of the food, service and atmosphere. By far, the best restaurant in the Woodfield area! Shaw's does everything right!

I was very pleased with the Happy Hour for the oysters. 50 cent oysters for Memorial Day. Food was delicious service was a joke. After I ordered my first dozen, I quickly asked the bartender for another dozen. The bartender never put the order in and was quite rude when I asked where my order of Oysters was. (Mexican guy). When I finally got my second order, I asked the server for an order of sushi to go. The bartender barked out. "JUST A MINUTE I"LL TAKE YOUR ORDER!" Again I was shocked at how rude this guy was. My bill came and it was $111. I thought I was being very generous with the $9 tip I was leaving him but he quickly put the money back on the bar and I said. I'm leaving this tip for you and tried handing it to him. He barked out "Just leave it there, I'll pick it up later!" I grabbed the money and put it in my pocket. No way he deserved any tip. He walked away and I could hear him talking to his co workers about me. Standing there with three other people talking about me ! This guy should not be working in a nice restaurant like this. He was rude and disrespectful. I will not be going back to that restaurant.

We have been twice to this location. I would say food is good. Reservations have been made both times, and both times I had to wait 15 or more minutes. This time we had a spider crawling on my husbands arm. Must have come out of the booth or something. I have to say the manager handled it very well. He was very calm and polite and ended up buying one of our entrees. I would still come back despite dinning with a spider because, the oysters are good and the service is very good.

I planned a huge outing with another family to celebrate Mardi Gras at Shaw's this past week. Shaw's advertised themselves as having a Mardi Gras celebration complete with entertainment, half-priced oysters, discounted lobster rolls and hurricanes. We all were very aware of the price tag of this place and we were willing to pay that price knowing that we would enjoy ourselves. What a mistake we made! Shaw's knows zilch about Mardi Gras partying. First, you don't bury a band in a corner and surround it with dining tables. No one was dancing because there was no room to dance. Our kids were the only ones who could fit in the tiny space that remained directly in front of the band. Second, you don't serve hurricanes (which tasted like kool-aid) in a martini glass. The waiter asked me if I wanted another and after I told him that my first was a disappointment, he explained that they don't normally serve the drink. My thought is, if you plan on advertising it as part of the celebration menu, learn how to mix it and put it in the right glass. Third, who throws a Mardi Gras party without decorating the place with Mardi Gras decorations? Who throws a Mardi Gras party without passing out beads?! This place did not even look like anything special was going on that day. Your waiter did not mention the specials to us by the way. Knowing that they were being offered, I had to inquire about them in order to get them. The free king cake that you offered and advertised in the paper? I had to ask for it too. Lastly, we most certainly felt like we were being rushed out of there. I was asked 3 separate times if I was done with my dinner. There was food on my plate, I was still eating it and we were still ordering drinks. We spent $300 at this place for dinner. We knew we would be spending money. I could have spent a third of that and had a better time at Heaven on Seven. What a disappointment.

We dined here almost 9 years ago and did not like the food. We went there again tonight and were again very disappointed at our food. I grew up on an island, so am a big seafood lover. I ordered the Grilled Ecuadorian Mahi Mahi tonight. The dish came with mashed sweet potato and the temperature of both items were semi-warm at best. The Mahi was plain and not fresh at all. The quality of their food does not warrant the price they charge. The snobbish attitude of the waitress also made the dining experience even more unpleasant. I will never return to this restaurant again. What a waste of money and time.

Superb food AND service! This place is set up just like the one in Chicago with the formal dining room and more casual oyster bar. The food here is wonderful and yes you pay for it. But we aren't in Florida are we? Our server was very attentive, full of suggestions and even gave me a free dessert since we were celebrating my birthday. Then when the hubby had a glass of port for dessert, he filled up my wine glass for free! This is a great place to go for seafood and the atmosphere is very nice. We were at our table for about 2 1/2 hours without being rushed. Granted it was a Wednesday night, but still being able to stay planted for that long is rare. I had no problem with the portions here. As Goldilocks would say, they were "just right".

You may be able to fool the others, but we are not fooled. Wife and I both think this place is, like all the other LEYE properties, overrated, overpriced, and undergood. The crab stuffed flounder? Failed to meet expectations. I had the maki combo, allegedly for 2. It fed one. What was in it? California roll and maybe spicy tuna. It was hard to tell because the rolls were tiny. I think however they used real crab, which is to their credit, but, again, hard to tell. Bright points? We liked the raw bar: oysters, king crab (a bit watery, mushy), stone crab, Dungeness crab, shrimp (who doesn't have shrimp), so on. Perhaps in the future we'll just get drinks and sit at the oyster bar.

2nd Review! 1st time around me and my husband said we will never come back, but with management being impecable and caring about there customers we returned. They cared and were generous enough to invite us back and hopefully this time around it would be up to standards. We went last saturday evening (nov.24th) we had a server named "jimmy" who I very highly reccomend! Our 1st visit server was horriable, this time we couldnt be happier with jimmy. I orderd sea food pasta which was absolutley horrific! I sent it back with 1 bite! Jimmy was nice enough to get me something else and had a new entree within 5 minutes. Then he brought us some dessert and after dinner drinks which made up for a bad entree. We were then approached by another manager who again was wonderful. Over all we will return again because of they take care of each and every problem with gratitude and go above and extreme just to make sure your happy. Thank you again to nate 1st time around, and jimmy and other manager this time around.

Wow!! Horrible service followed by very poor quality food.. I will say this I am a seafood lover and think red lobster is not the place to go, BUT if I can put it this way red lobster rocks compared to this overpriced garbage I ate here. Don't waste your money here.

It was late. I was hungry, I needed food. An alright place to satisfy my hunger. Given that it was a Crab house, I needed to try the crab cakes. They weren't that great. It was full of crab meat, but the taste of crab just wasn't quite there. The soft shell crab on the other hand was pretty good. I got the seafood platter which included some butterfly shrimp, scallops and the crab cake. The other two were only okay. The shrimp wasn't anything special and neither were the scallops. I had all of this with a glass of guiness. It should be pretty obvious as the "fresh" concept can't be true given that Schaumburg is in the middle of the US and no where near the ocean.

My very first review! Saturday evening (before 6pm), oyster bar side of restaurant- sat on the patio. No reservations- walked in and were seated right away; probably to do with arriving early. When we left, all the tables were full. Nothing wrong with the table cloth side of the restaurant (at least for formal events), but i much prefer the more casual, oyster bar side. We started with the oyster sampler (half-price before 6pm) and the halibut ceviche. We are neither oyster nor ceviche afficionados, but can say both were excellent. My only disappointment with the whole meal were the tortilla chips served with the ceviche- thick & heavy, overpowering the flavor of the ceviche- but honestly the ceviche was so flavorful we ate it without the tortillas. Wife had the sea scallops; I had the griddled garlic shrimp. Both were outstanding; very fresh, excellent buttery flavor, not overly seasoned nor overcooked. The shrimp were butterflied, but still in shell, so do require a little manual labor, and are a little messy, if you don't mind licking your fingers off. Finished with the creme brulee- very fresh and light. Overall, not many seafood restaurants can match Shaws (at least not in the area).

Well... I don't really know where to start. Last Saturday my wife and I went to Shaw's with a group of friends for a dinner. We had great expectations since the place was recommended to us by our friends. Upon arrival the place itself had a good vibe with lots of people and a great atmosphere. I'm thinking to myself, it's gonna be a fine dining experience. Boy.... was I wrong:) To make long story short, the food was below average and arrived cold, not only my order but others as well. When dinner was served my wife looked at her plate and then looked at me with a great deal of confusion. She loves crab cakes but her order looked like an appetizer in a so so, wanna be restaurant. On top of it, it was not what she expected based on the conversation with a waiter at the time of placing the order. One person in our party complained to the waiter about the food being served cold. The waiter politely picked up the plate and promised to bring a new plate quickly, since the rest of the group started already. She received her replacement dish while we were eating desert:):) I understand that Saturday night is very busy, but believe me, taking everything into consideration this place is a joke. I'm not a review person and I am trying to stay as objective as possible. Maybe it was just a wrong time for us to go there, but I honestly feel like this place is a rip-off, severely overpriced for the quality of food. I repeat severely overpriced!!!!!! For $190 with tip for two, the desert was great but the rest of it was just cold, below average food that tasted like canned, generic, nothing special, Sam's Club based ingredients meal. I felt like I'm paying top dollar for their rent in a prime Schaumburg location. Place like this would not have any chance of survival if it wasn't for the amount of traffic in the area of Woodfield Mall, both residential and business. There are so many much better restaurants in the area that serve quality food at the fraction of the cost! To sum up, I really wanted to enjoy this place but left very confused. Only 1 star for me, not because I'm angry, but to warn others before choosing this place for dining. Shame on you, Shaw's!

Ummn well I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that the seafood kind of sucks in a land locked state but hell this isn't red lobster! $32 for crab legs that provided 2 or 3 overly meaty and tough legs (i.e. too old) and a claw. That's right, a claw! We didn't order crab parts - crab legs! Totally unclassy menu. Extremely overpriced. They offer sushi? Maybe because they're desperate? I didnt see any sushi chefs there so what ? store bought? Yuck. Make your own fish and take your business elsewhere!

The service for our table was ok, but the servers were very nice and when my group was waiting was of the servers took out a four pound lobster to impress some of the kids also waiting. Heck--I was impressed! He let the little kids pet it, and they were so excited. Our meal was very good. The bread rolls are greasy but so yummy, and my fish and chips were super amazing. I also had the clam chowder-do not miss it! And the key lime pie was like a little key lime dream. I will come again! Hopefully soon!

Both sides of this place, the fine dining and the oyster bar are really good. It's one of the better quality of seafood for sure. I've never had a bad experience with the taste or quality of the food and the atmosphere is very well done. sometimes it gets extremely busy and crowded and the wait staff is not always as pleasant and professional (or should I say QUICK) as they should be. I don't like asking for something more than once (or 3 times)when I'm paying $60 or more per person for dinner. If you want a more upscale, fine dining, darkly lit, classy atmosphere go to the left of the building. It's white cloth and posh. If you want a more rowdy, fun, loud, open and casual atmosphere, go to the right for a full oyster bar and art deco surroundings. Overall a very good place to come on a special date or with the older family but not really for kids. Good for business entertainment / client relations.

The seafood was good. There are 2 restaurants under one roof, both part of "Shaw's Crab House." Make sure you turn to the left if you want crab legs. The one to the right is the oyster bar. Some sushi, oyster selections, and a few seafood options. I had the seafood platter - which was average, not special. Crab cake had little "crabby" flavor. Left - More Formal Right - More Casual I wanted crab. I turned right. WRONG TURN BACK AT ALBUQUERQUE DOC!!! Nothing wrong with it. It was great food, I just wanted the crab legs, but I had already ordered a drink. I want to go back and try the crab legs if I'm back in Schaumburg for dinner. Schaumburg is out in the sticks, so I'm not sure when I'll be back there next. Gotta love those people that can live in the burbs!

The prices are too high for the quality and quantity. I suggest Wildfire as a better alternative as I went away not filled and more than $50 poorer.

I'm from FL, so this is a significant compliment: I've never had better King Crab Legs anywhere. Great place, but bring your wallet. My wife and I alone ran up a $250 tab.

Oh, Shaw's... how could you! Celebrated the hubby's bday last week at Shaw's and it was a complete let down. We sat in the casual dinning room... our waitress was disinterested, the food (sushi for me, $55 turf and turf (1 snow crab leg and a lobster tail) for him) was overpriced and nothing special, and the ambiance sucked. Our food came out in 2 seconds, and I couldn't eat it fast enough. The only good thing was the dinner mints you can snag on your way out.

Who took this picture? I love Shaw's but you have to go to the one in Schaumburg because the one in Chi skimps on the legs. Clam chowder (the white) is awesome. I had the coconut cream pie here once and I was ready to die...that good.

Phenominal place. Service is wonderful. I had almost forgotten what a non-rushed dining experience could be. Shaw's is on point with everything. Lobster bisque - wonderful. Sushi was great. My halibut was perfect. And the dessert sampler was the cherry on top. Definitely will be back. Thank you so very much for a wonderful dinner.

Went to Shaw's on a Sunday late afternoon/evening. I had sushi and martinis. The sushi was good, nothing spectacular, but fresh. The martini was fantastic. The bartender knew how to make a drink. Also had a sampler of oysters, and they were all very good.

Best seafood ever! Yes, it's pricey...but worth every penny! The service is amazing. I suggest the round leather booths in the bar area. It's still can be romantic with the lighting and it's not noisy in there. All the seafood is fresh and flown in every week. One time at this place and you will wonder why you ever ate the Red Lobster garbage!

Great food! I had the combo with filet, scallops, shrimp with a wedge salad and chocolate desert... My moms fish wad a little over done and the manager called about an hour after we left to offer an apology and welcome us back. No one has ever gone to that length to ensure satisfaction, I was floored and will be back!

Ok so I can't help it when my inner snob snubs touristy or chain Chicago restaurants. It's just a natural reflex. With that said, I had a surprisingly nice meal at Shaw's this evening for a "family meal" with my boyfriend's family. Obviously not my choice of venue, this place was popping at 5 on a Sunday night- I guess they really get the early-bird crowd! We were seated right away with our reservation. Our waitress was really nice, like bordering on too nice, although I appreciated her attention to detail for the table. The oyster sampler was a nice start to the meal and it was half off during happy hour, nice! For my main I had the grilled salmon, in a butter sauce which was not noted on the menu. It was great of course (c'mon its butter!) just not as healthy as expected. It was served with wasabi mashed potatoes-YUM!- I think that I will never eat plain potatoes ever again, they were amazing! My boyfriend's grouper was lackluster compared to my wonderful dripping in buttery sauce salmon. Everyone else at the table appeared to enjoy their meals, since the all cleared their plates quickly. For dessert I had the hot fudge sundae with peppermint stick ice cream- while a kind of random dessert option it was great and I ate it all. The ice cream pie and crème brûlée were hits at the table as well. While not a cheap meal by any stretch of the budget, it impressed me more than I expected. However it if was my choice, for what we spent here, I would have gone to a more innovative and less branded type place, but the pseudo parents took me out and I had a great meal- I guess I can't complain too much, right?!

I was not happy when I was dragged here against my will for a work lunch. Usually I will make due when someone else is paying, but nothing, I mean absolutely nothing, on their menu was appealing. I'd eaten here prior and decided to choose what I felt would be the least disgusting - the fried shrimp. Well, I don't know how you burn fried shrimp, but they managed to. I can get better shrimp at Red Lobster or Long John Silvers. Pretty sad.

I went for the first time yesterday based on all the rave I've been hearing about this place. The ambiance was nice, mellow...dressy casual attire seemed appropriate. I started off with the Maryland crab cake-delicious and although there's only one per serving, two can appreciate as we did, you will not be disappointed. I had the grilled Alaskan Red King Salmon for dinner with braised baby artichokes and artichoke purée-extremely tasty, great texture, no complaints here. I ended with Shaw's desert sampler which was a mini key lime pie, pecan pie, raspberry pie...ahhh, it was a wonderful ending to such a superb meal! I will say that the price inflates fast but other than that it was a great experience, the place was clean, the waiter was fast, friendly and attentive.

I like to eat here for a quick lunch at the bar quite a bit. I love the seafood salad and some other things... Oyesters are fresh and good. The service is good too. Very expensive here and that is the only complaint I would have.

So I have only been here for lunch on a few occasions and it has always been in the bar but they have the best oysters (which I've hated until now) and freshest sushi around. Also, the creme brulee is really good and just the right amount, not too much not too little. If you want good sushi and oysters go here, you won't be disappointed.

My husband and I drove from Louisville Ky to Chicago, and we are staying in Arlington Heights , IL. We saw a sign that said Shaw's Crab House. We knew nothing about the restaurant, but thought seafood sounded pretty good. When we sat down the server automatically said " you have an accent where are you from." I said Louisville Ky. She said you do know that this is a nice restaurant. I wanted to get up and leave after that comment. My husband said don't take her serious she is being rude. I ordered a crab cake appetizer and a house salad. My crab cake had saltine crackers inside when I cut into it. The house salad stated it had blue cheese dressing and I asked for ranch. It came out with blue cheese. I had to ask the bus boy for some ranch. Our server never came back during the meal. She walked over at the end of the meal with a fake smile and asked if we wanted dessert. I said I'd like to pay the bill and get out of this nice restaurant. This place was over priced, and the help was out to lunch. Bone Fish Grill has a better variety, and better tasting food hands down. Sometimes I guess the chain restaurants are better.

The menu did not impress me. I expected more, as I have spoiled myself with Bob Chinn's. The food itself came out wonderful and the wait staff demonstrated sincere hospitality and outstanding service. Chinn's in Wheeling serves superior food, hands down. If you want to pay that kind of cash for food, go to Chinn's. Shaws does, however, have a fancier, modern, and elegant layout.

My Boyfriend and I were dinning there for Valentines Day and of course being a very busy day my reservation was not entered into the system but it was ok they got us a seat in under 15 min. BUT I personally think the food is OVER PRICED we had the Shaw's Dinner which was $45.99 A PERSON.... the food was great and filling and came with sides but after everything said and done $150 including tip for 2 people is rediculous....and the people who dine there are all on high horses I will not go there again....The only thing I ABSOLUTELY LOVED was the Crab Cakes...YUM!!! But I think next time ill try Bob Chins!!!!

Seafood quality was excellent. Ordered two Lobster family 3 course dinner's in addition to two children's meals consisting of chicken strips and fries. I was greeted promptly, seated in the casual dining room due to arrival before the main dining room opened. Hours posted on the door stated 5PM, we were fortunate the casual dining room was open. Our server was very welcoming, promptly discussed the menu items and placed our drink order. After our drinks were served along with a basket of fresh rolls, our server proceeded to take and place our order. I enjoyed my dining experience until just after our order was taken. The service was slow and sort of disappointing. Took about 35 to 40 minutes to receive our order, unfortunately the children's meal was delayed. This may be normal, but usually salads appear within a reasonable amount of time. Once everything was served, our server seemed to disappear for very long periods. Checked in with us once during our visit. Additional meal courses were served by another server or assistant. Once again food quality was excellent. The desert course remained, unfortunately it took an 15 to 20 minutes before our server made an appearance, to take our desert order. I was at the restaurant around 4:20pm left around 6:15pm. Overall quality was great. Server well enough said. Complete meal cost approximate $150 with drinks and tip. I don't plan to return. Yesterday at 5:54pm Like

I had my first visit to Shaw's on 12/14/11 for our work Christmas party and all I can say is that I was impressed with the entire dining experience. Our server was so attentive, and paid great attention to the little details- she never let an empty plate or glass sit on the table, she brought extra sauces when needed without us asking, and more. The food is delicious and fresh- their menu is updated daily. The "service support staff" aka bussers, were very on top of our table as well, boxing up our food for us, taking drink orders, helping deliver the food, clearing off food crumbs and more. Just be prepared- this place is very pricey ( we paid $1056.00 for 10 people!). We expected that a good quality meal would be somewhat expensive, but not this expensive. 2 appetizer platters for our group ( one hot (calamari etc, one cold oysters, shrimp, etc) were $160! I will say though that my husband had a bowl of Lobster Bisque and said it was the best he ever had... My only disappointment was their dessert menu. After such a fabulous meal, we were hoping for a "knock our socks off" kind of dessert- they didnt meet up to our expecations in that area. Other then that and being a little surprised by the price, we were very satisfied and will return in the future.

we went there for dinner and while back... it gets crowded in there on weekends, so be prepared to spend some time at the bar before getting seated. the food wasn't anything out of the ordinary for me. we shared lamb and crab legs. paid the big bill and after we left we were like, "what do you wanna do? damn, i'm still hungry" i hate it when that happens, especially when you paid so much.

This is a review of the Sunday Brunch only. We came here on a Sunday for my Mom's b-day. I was skeptical about coming back here, as our previous dinner encounter was not very good at all. But it has been several years, and this is brunch, so we thought why not. This was probably the best brunch i have ever had. All of the food available(listed at the bottom of this review) was very fresh, and oh so good. For the cold food i had oysters, king crab, shrimp, some sushi, some sort of shrimp ceviche, smoked salmon, salmon pastrami. I know i had some hot food, but to be honest i forgot what it was. It was good though, that much i remember. It is just that i kept going back to the cold bar so much that by the time i got around to the hot food i was already ready to be rolled out of there. The service was a bit lacking though. We had to wait a bit for our waiter to come back each time, and we were one of the first ones there. Also there was a bloody mary bar, but it was not self service, which was odd, because it was setup perfectly so you could make your own. Instead our waiter asked how we wanted it made, even though it was hard to tell him when there were so many options available. They should definitely make this a self service bar, like they do at a alot of sports bars. When we were done we saw the dessert table. WOW, as if i wasn't already about to fall into a seafood coma, the desserts gave me a sugar high but somehow added to my comatose state. They had a lot of homemade dessearts(the raspberry boat was my fave) and even cool things like pixie sticks and cracker jacks bags. I took a few home for later. Great way to end the brunch. I did not need to eat the rest of the day. Overall very good for seafood lovers, although the 3 stars is for the somewhat lacking service and high price, i think it was either $40 or $50 per person. The list of what was offered is below. I borrowed this from Jay N.'s review. Thanks for saving me the time Jay. :) Let's start with the Brunch Items. Made to order omelettes that you can add crab meat or shrimp or lobster; made to order Belgian waffles with all the toppings; scrambled eggs, carmelized bacon, potatoes au'gratin, French Toast with Bananas Foster toppings and sauce, crepes. Seafood Bar that had unlimited oysters on the half shell, cold shrimp (this was the best shrimp I've ever had), blackened shrimp, shrimp salad, crab meat salad with some frut (looked good), Alaskan King Crab pieces (cold) and Alaskan King Crab (hot with melted butter, the King Crab is simply excellent and cut into nice 1-2" pieces in the shell, smoked Salmon, Salmon Pastrami, Maki Rolls with Tuna, Halibut, Salmon. Buffet had roasted Halibut (best Halibut I've ever had, anywhere), roasted Turkey Breast, roasted Beef Tenderloin (that was a good as my Fillet at Gibson's the night before), Lobster Bisque, Breaded Shrimp (did I already say this Shrimp was incredibly good), Lobster Pasta, Crab Cakes.

My fiancee and I were deciding where to go for dinner last night. Since he has been craving oysters for months, we settled on Shaw's. We arrived at about a 5:45 and sat in the oyster bar dining room. Our waitress greeted us a good four minutes after we sat down, so that was a little annoying. When we finally ordered our drinks, it took about 10 minutes to get them because the first two drinks I ordered, they were out of so my boyfriend had to wait just to get his beer and he was pretty annoyed and hungry by this point. I finally got a cocktail, a raspberry mojito, and that shit was STRONG. I wasn't pleased with it, it tasted like plain raspberry vodka and I was hoping for some fresh raspberries in it or something. We were pleasantly surprised when we were told that oysters were half price from 3-6 . We took full advantage and each ordered a dozen oysters. My fiancee thought they were salty and didn't finish his, so I happily polished them off too. The cocktail sauce had the perfect amount of horseradish and next to that was a small container of salt sprinkled with vinegar-something I've never seen before, They also give you a tiny bottle of tabasco-but that is only good for pretending you're a giant so stick with getting it out of the large bottles on the table. It made me think of that show "Man vs. Food" when Adam Richman had to eat 15 dozen oysters-I think I could have easily done that last night. Instead, we both ordered the lobster boil because it seemed like a good deal. It comes with a lobster, an ear of corn, coleslaw, and baby potatoes. While we waited for that, our server came over and asked us if we wanted to order some sushi while we waited, so we did that. But then a couple minutes later, the lobsters show up! Our server apologizes and offers to take our dinner back to the kitchen. We said no, but I was really annoyed by this point because it just felt like she was a scatterbrained mess. So to make up for her blunder, she kept checking on us and asking us if we were ok, like a girl you're trying to break up with but just won't leave you alone. The lobster boil was ok and they were kind enough to take the lobster out of the shell and cut the corn off the cob for my fiancee because he had an injured hand. We basically had our sushi for dessert, but it was decent. I would like to try the tuna, guacamole, and chips appetizer-but the next time I return, but I'm going to sit at the oyster bar instead and play my own version of Liz vs. Food and I will claim sweet victory over those oysters!

Came here for brunch on a Sunday and was quite pleased with the food. Quality was awesome! Everything was super fresh, wide selections to pick from. If you are a seafood lover then this is like heaven. If not then don't bother coming, just about everything was seafood.

Went here for Mother's Day dinner with my mom and dad, boyfriend, his mom and my uncle. Service was great. I wish I could remember the server's name. We ordered 2 shrimp tempura rollls, 2 orders of calamari to start. Everyone enjoyed both. Soups, a couple people ordered the lobster bisque and my bf ordered the gumbo. Everyone enjoyed their soups. Dinners, 3 people ordered the combo platter that consisted of 3 garlic shrimp, 4 or 5 scallops, 1 crab cake, spinach and a scoop of rice. 2 people ordered the combo meal that was the exact same thing but instead of the crab cake, it came with a filet. My boyfriend ordered the halibut. All the dinners came with either red potatoes or creamed spinach. Of course I had to upgrade my side for an extra 5 bucks - potatoes au gratin. My dish I loved, I had the crab cake, scallops and garlic shrimp. The scallops were so good. Shrimp had a lot of flavor and the crab cake was also very good. This all came with a mustard sauce which complimented everything on the plate. The au gratin potatoes were incredible, nice and cheesy! I took a bite of the boyfriend's halibut and I liked it. It was crusted with a horseradish and panko combo on top of tomatoes. I would have taken a few more bites had I not been focusing on my meal. Everyone enjoyed their dinners, I'm so glad since I made the reservation! The cheese bread is also very good. Things are so small you can just keep scarfing them down. Servers were attentive to fill the bread basket and refill our drinks. Was a busy night, but server was pleasant and attentive. If he wasn't around, the runners/busers were checking on us. My only complaint is that it's really dim in there. Hard to see your menu. I wish they'd either put more candles around or not turn the lights so dang low.

I've been to the shaws downtown and I figured that the schaumburg one wouldn't be that much different. I knew what to expect as far as price goes however I was somewhat disappointed in the quality of the seafood I had ordered. My wife and I decided to have the 3 course crab meal which was king crab legs, dungeoness crag and washington crab with au gratin potatoes and a slice of key lime pie. We also had ordered the calamari and a platter of sushi. The appetizers were good but when the crab dinner came we got one plate with half a dungeoness crab, 2 king crab legs and 2 washington crab legs. Really? ALL of this for 45 dollars a person? No wonder the place wasn't packed full of people during Lent. I guess I should have chosen wisely. Other than the food, the service was excellent and the staff was very friendly.

Made an online reservation via Open Table which was great. It all went downhill after that. If you've never been there, then you don't know that the place is not conducive for brunch. The manager seated us in the bar when we wanted to be seated in the dining room. The manager sat us and you could tell at once that he didn't care where we sat or whether he pleased us or not. We changed tables but not to a much better seating arrangement. This time near the other bar area. The set-up is poor for brunch venue. You're going back and forth between 2 different rooms to get food. Horrible set-up. Food was ok, selection was ok, quality of food was ok. For the price, could have been better. It was my birthday and they brought me a piece of cake. I guess that was nice, but it was a Sunday brunch with the same cake on the dessert table. We ordered 2 coffees. Apparently, each coffee was $5 each. Why is coffee so much at a buffet? It must be because it's Intelligentsia brand. Since we were not happy with the seating arrangements when we arrived, the manager told our waiter to comp the drinks. The bloodymarys and champagne mimosas were $5 each. We didn't find out the drinks were comped because of our seating unhappiness until we were closing our tab. I think the manager should have told us this beforehand so maybe we could have an extra drink instead it was a SECRET until we closed out. For 3 brunches, 2 drinks, 2 cokes was $143 so we paid cash plus 20% tip. The waiter comes back and then tells us the drinks are comped and the bill was really $165+. Is this because he wants a bigger tip and he hadn't told us yet the drinks were comped. Boy, what a horrible place. Don't go here. I won't go back to this place again. Too bad and I hope they improve instead of ripping others off. Horrible service but ok food. Look up at the ceilings and light fixtures. Dirty and needs cleaning. Check out the water stains on the ceiling and loose panels up there too. But was the food good? I'd say out of the many many items served there at brunch, I would say only 1/2 dozen items met my expectations. Too bad because it has been a long time since I dined at Shaw's and I don't remember anything like this. Sad.

Went here the other night and had some good and some bad. Oysters were great and they had a nice selection. Also a nice selection of Local Beers. My friends entree, the Haddock was very good and priced at $21. I got the Halibut which was $29 and it was not very good. The Horseradish coating was very soggy and the fish came out overcooked and dry. I told the server and she gladly took it off the bill. Overall it was Ok but in the future I may just go to McCormick and Schmits down the street off Higgins.

Bottom line: Overpriced and small portions. Boring drink menu with very few choices, NO blended drinks, and very few mixed drinks. Hit-or-miss with the food... some of it is okay, a few things are WONDERFUL, and a couple of items are not worth picking up the fork. I went to Shaw's with my husband for our anniversary. The waitress was very friendly when she came to take our drink order, but it just seemed no matter what drink we listed, they just couldn't do it. The waitress told us that they could make no blended drinks because they didn't have a blender. Daiquiries and margaritas were off the menu... at a seafood restaurant. We finally just gave up and got vodka cranberries, which is a drink usually reserved for cheap bars. The limited selection of alcholic beverages was very disappointing, especially considering the priceyness of the place. We then ordered our entrees. My husband got the Club Room combination (steak, grilled shrimp, and scallops) and I got the crab combination (two different kinds of crab and crab cake). His platter arrived with a small two-inch by two-inch square of steak, three grilled shrimp, and four scallops... for $35. Mine was even worse. I got a claw and two legs of one type of crab, four legs of another type, and ONE crabcake... for $55!!!! My husband said his filled him up fairly decently, but mine did not even come close, and I am a pretty small person. The food itself was pretty good. The scallops were tasty, the steak was tender, the shrimp was, well, shrimp, and the first type of crab was breathtaking. The second type of crab, however, was tough and did not taste good (I've had better at Red Lobster, and for this price, I should NOT be able to say that!), and the crab cake had WAY too much pepper. I can understand paying so much money for FABULOUS food, but when you can only say that about two crab legs on your $55 plate... wow. We got two entrees and two drinks, and left with a $115 bill (not including tip) and a half-full tummy. Something is just not right with that equation. I can tell you, we won't be going back anytime soon.

Super giant crab legs, most excellent service, and dry sack. Is heaven any better ? Went for dinner (reservations are a great idea) on Friday night at 8. Fast seating, quick service, and the waiter had a sense of humor. Plus they gave my friend a bib . . . to go with his dry sack . . . gotta love that (total with a few drinks and lots of food for four was around $200 - but each time I've gone we've had enough to share) . . . try it . . . you'll like it ;-)

This is a really upscale and elegant restraunt. They have great food and really great service too. The food is a bit pricey, but it is really worth the money. Make sure to make reservations -- it gets pretty crowded on weekend nights!

Always the freshest seafood around. Never disappoints - I don't think I've ever gotten anything here that wasn't top-notch. Even the limited sushi rolls are good. My favorites - chopped salad, sushi and salad lunch combo, chowder, crab legs and fish tacos. Can get madly crowded on weekends, so be sure and make a reservation if you don't want to wait for two hours.

Reservation for three people at 5:30pm in their popular Oyster Bar. This looked and felt like a comfortable place to relax and enjoy the night, especially with the outdoor patio seating. Started out with the Heirloom Tomato and Fresh Mozzarella Salad. This was nicely plated with red and orange tomatoes. The mozzarella was a little flimsy, but the flavor was fantastic. For entrees, I heard their Sushi Chef was quite famous, so I ordered the Maki Combination. The menu claims this serves two people, but I was able to put it away easily without feeling bloated at all. The Maki Combo came with 6 king crab-avocado rolls, 3 spicy tuna rolls, and 3 spicy salmon rolls. All of them were fantastic, and I really don't think I will order anything but sushi here when I return. The other entrees that my friends had included Horseradish Crusted Halibut and the Seafood Platter. The Halibut was cooked perfectly and was very moist, yet for $29.95, was really small. The Seafood Platter came with a small portion of shrimp, scallops, and a crab cake, and was also over-priced at $24.95. I believe their best deal was the Maki Combo, which I ordered, that only set me back $16. Due to smaller sized portions, dessert was a must, and their dessert menu is even more appealing than the dinner one. The second I saw Banana's Foster on the menu, my mind was made up. My two friends shared the dessert sampler, which came with bite size portions of key-lime pie, raspberry pie, chocolate cake, and creme brulee. The Banana's Foster was amazing. It was basically a single giant crepe filled with sauteed banana's, soaking in a pool of warm caramel and topped with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was exactly the way I wanted a meal to end. The service was great and our waitress was very helpful and always filled our drinks. The front desk was very polite and very professional, better than most Lettuce Entertain You restaurants. Shaw's is not a cheap place, our bill was $142.00. If you can order the right food and come in with the idea that the portions are going to be smaller, than you should get the most out of your money. If you like sushi, don't cheat yourself and order anything else. This sushi is top-of-the-line, and you won't find it better anywhere close to here. Save room for dessert too, because not once did I feel that guilt feeling that usually comes with dessert. Overall, Shaw's Crab-house is perfect for any occasion, and the place is so huge that it would be smart to take advantage for larger parties.

Great seafood, but can be pricy. Located in Woodfield Mall, in Schaumburg, this place has a wide variety of food, and drink, on the menu. Very nice building, and clean inside. Parking can be a little rough, when the mall is busy. Family friendly, with good service. Had the snow crab claws there, they were excellent! Try to make reservations, this place is popular, and fills up quickly.

i have to give this place five stars. I have never ever had a complaint about this restaraunt. Their sea food is second to none and always fresh, even on a Monday. Their baked clams are the best I have had as is their creamed spinich. the wine list is great and their prices are inline. When I want great fresh sea food I come here.

Not impressed.. :( Food: Calamari: tasted good.. but towards the end.. i felt like some of the pieces I was chewing on was sand?...definitely don't enjoy eating sand... New England lobster roll ($22): it tasted ok, but definitely not great.....Da Lobster has better lobster rolls for sure.... Shaw's chopped seafood salad ($22): not worth it for a salad...the portion is big though...just a regular salad with seafood.... Customer Service: it was ok.. the waiter was kind and informative... Wait time: 20 mins to get seated...~20-~30 mins to get food Would not come here again for food.. the cost and quality do not match up....

Its way too expensive for the quality of food. If i had the same ingredients, i could probably cook much better than this... a 23 dollar sandwich should be more satisfying than a 7 dollar chipotle burrito... it wasn't. And the hostess did not smile and I did not feel welcome at all. People were just going through the motions... fairly disappointed.

Shaw's is getting a little too expensive for my pocketbook. Two of us dropped in for lunch. Here's what we had: 1 - Margarita 1 - Lagunitas 1 - Iced Tea 1/2 dozen Oyster Sampler ($18) 1 - Seafood Salad ($22) 1 - Alaskan Sockeye Salmon ($28) Total bill before tip = $98.37 All of the food items were excellent, absolutely no complaints with the quality of the food or the preparation. The Sockeye Salmon is a seasonal special. For lunch, you get a 6 oz piece of salmon with a ridiculous frou-frou side salad that is more of a garnish than a side. Service was top-notch as usual. I can't rate higher than 3-stars due to the price/value quotient. Yes, I know that you are paying up for the ambience and it certainly is a nice dining experience. Unfortunately, I can't justify these prices. I have been grilling wild, Alaskan salmon, when in season, for over 6 years. Sure, Shaw's preparations are more consistent but I can buy 5 times the amount of salmon at Whole Foods when it is on sale. Sorry guys but I will only be back for 1/2 off oysters happy hour.

Went there for my birthday! Had the all you can eat king crab, snow, and dungeness. Yummy. The staff is so nice and helpful. I loved the birthday dessert our dear server brought. Go for the crab! Its already split for easy eating!

By far my favorite brunch buffet. It's pricey but worth it! It'll cost you $48 and runs every Sunday 10am-1:30pm. Omelette bar. Sushi. Fresh oysters-typically 3 different choices. Shrimp cocktail. King crab legs (pre-cracked so easy to eat). Lobster Mac & cheese. Candied bacon. Crab cakes . Parmesan crusted haddock on a bed of spinach. Lobster bisque. Don't forget the huge dessert table with cupcakes, tiramisu, creme brulee, and more! They also have fun themed brunches like Pirates and Princesses and I attended Brunch with Santa this past year and got pictures with the jolly fella! Check their website for $1 oysters 1 day a week for 1 hour.

Okay so I know this isn't the Chicago Shaw's and after I came here I wish that we went to Shaws in Chicago. Upon arrival, I did bring my kids with in a stroller and was rudely told that there are no strollers allowed in the main dining room (where I had made a reservation) and then they shooed us off to the Oyster Bar. I mean, I get it kids can sometimes be trouble but this isn't a 5 star Michelin restaurant where kids shouldn't be allowed in the main dining room. I then proceeded to ask if I can put them in high chairs if that would be okay. The hostesses kind of nodded and once again hinted that we belong in the Oyster bar. Ouch, talk about a slap in the face. I should have walked out right there and then but I decided to make the most of my experience. Upon sitting in the oyster bar, our server approached us and he seemed nice. He brought out some cold sour dough bread which was such a turn off since shouldn't a nice place at least have warm bread? And where was the bread basket that I guess only people in the dining room get. Well, I still asked for that bread basket. It was brought out in like 20 minutes and there was only one roll even though the server could clearly see it's not a table of one and once again the roll was cold and hard. Like wow, worst bread basket experience. Everything else seemed to go downhill from there, didn't care for the lobster bisque,, the oysters although happy hour price weren't fresh in my opinion and we got these super tiny ones. Then it gets better, the fried seafood sampler was tiny. I mean for $16 (per person, what a messed up rule) you get one crab cake the size of a quarter, two shrimp and a few calamari, I mean that's just a waste of money. Maybe if I ordered just the calamari the portion would have been decent. Then my husband and I decided to each order the $24 lobster rolls and we both hated them, the bread wasn't warm and not super fresh and the lobster meat was a pink neon like color, I don't know what that was and I've had my share of lobster rolls whether in the east coast and in Chicago and this is the absolute worst one I've ever had. I really am thankful I didn't splurge further on the king crab legs based on the poor quality of everything else, ugh gross. But of course I decided to still get dessert. They get a star for nice presentation for the dessert sampler which had key lime pie, cherry pie, mini creme brulee and a chocolate cake. The only star is for presentation because everything else was just eh, and I'm a dessert person meaning it doesn't take that much to impress me as I love me some oreos out of a box, but oreos out of the box would have been more satisfying than what we had. I left extremely disappointed since the place is not cheap and I was kind of appalled by the poor etiquette of the hostesses. If she didn't want us and my kids in the dining room, she could have at least been nicer about it. I don't think I will be back.

Great atmosphere. Friendly staff and the food was fantastic. We had the brunch and the choices were varied and the seafood was high quality. A bit spendy but worth it for a family brunch or special occasion. We'll definitely come back when we are in Chicago.

Good ambiance, plenty of space (for events and such), good service, and good food. Very pricey so if you're in a budget, skip this place. The moment you walk in, you know you're in a seafood restaurant as the fishy smell greets you. This was my only gripe about this place. I would've given this 5 stars for the taste and quality of the food (for a Midwest restaurant) but the fishy smell and the selection made it 4 stars for me. Look, if you want the best and fresh seafood, Midwest is not the place, you must go to the coasts (east or west). This place will do though if you can't travel to the coasts. I have had their haddock ($26)in the past and that's 4 stars. This visit, I tried their lobster roll ($24) which is served on a Texas toast pocket with a side of cole slaw and French fries. It was good and if I ever come back to this place, I will have it again. In the past I've also tried their sushi and that was good as well. I'm too cheap to try their crab legs for $65 pp. Their dessert sampler came with samples of cheesecake, key lime pie, creme brûlée, and cherry pie. MUST HAVE! Perfect serving for 2 people. Enjoy!

We mostly hit Shaw's for Oysters and drinks basically always sitting at the bar... I've been going here for years... You cannot go wrong with Shaw's oysters. They always have a good selection to satisfy your tastes. The cocktail sauce & horseradish is good (just ask for extra horseradish) and the Tabasco is nearby. Most importantly is they shuck them properly meaning cutting them loose from the shell (some places don't??). People complain about the $3 per but you get a selection and they are fresh, prepared correctly. If you want the best deal around go between 4 & 6pm and order the ones on special. Bloody Mary... one of the best I've had with a super garnish!! Just make it a double so you can taste the vodka as with any BM... Sushi here is good but don't expect greatness. It's perfect if you just want something small to snack on. I've had various rolls many times. think it was a smart addition to the menu... Shaw's is expensive. Always has been, always will be...

I usually come once a week for my empress crab fix.... Buts it's now out of season.... Blue Crab Fingers to the rescue ... You get about a dozen for $14 but they are very big pieces. Much bigger than I expected and very good quality... Also had Oysters Rockefeller... Perfect combination oyster and toppings.... Well done Very Well done

Outstanding food, excellent service - well worth the premium price. Enjoyed our anniversary dinner on July 3. We split the chopped salad and enjoyed the halibut and the trio seafood plate, coupled with Luna Nuda Pino Grigio. All were spectacular. Our service was consistently impeccable for the over three hours we were there. When we ordered desserts, we were surprised that they were complementary because we had to wait a bit after checking in and before being seated. Very nice touch. Highly recommended.

Shaw's always reminds me of my sisters. For some reasons, whenever they were in town when I used to live nearby, like clockwork, we would end up here at least once. There was a time that I didn't like Shaw's as it used to get me sick from being so rich with butter. However, good thing that I didn't completely scratch them off my list as it did get better, and I do not get sick anymore. Their fish dishes are always pretty good. Love ordering oysters and some of the sushi selections as well. If splurging, I could work and gnaw on a lobster forever, and It's good. Really good. As part of Rich Melman's vast enterprise of Lettuce Entertain You, their food is standard Leye quality which is usually above average any other chain restaurants. Of course some of Leye's places like Tramonto restaurants or RPM are much higher standard. Shaw's maybe just a bit below them but comparable to like other chain steakhouse and seafood places like Capital Grille or Morton's. Being quite pricy, it better be good. I took my close friends here for Thanksgiving dinner. With our trip to Toronto didn't come to fruition and not enough time to prepare for cooking the meal, we just decided to vedge out and eat out. The buffet was impressive for $59 per person. Pretty pricy at the end for me to pick up the tab, but you definitely got what you paid for and money well spent with great friends. The cold area was filled with mountains of succulent good size shrimp cocktails, several types of oysters, sushi, snow crab legs, and four different salads. The hot buffet had all kinds of sides and seafood items like candied sweet potatoes, roasted Brussels sprouts, wild rice with cranberry, cauliflower au gratin, salmon, jumbo fried shrimps, green bean casserole, roasted new potatoes, mashed potatoes, crab cakes, etc. Main entrees include beef tenderloin carving table, turkey carving table, and Alaskan king crab legs with drawn butter. Desserts... Ah so many things. A couple that stood out were the candied apple bar, bread pudding, pumpkin pie and crème brulée. I thought all the seafood selections were phenomenal. Yet, the Thanksgiving menu were kinda a let down. King crabs were so good as well as the jumbo fried shrimps, shrimp cocktails and oysters. The tenderloin was also superb and cooked perfectly medium rare. However the turkey was dry. The green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, and pumpkin pie were meh at best. The service was impeccable though. It usually is. It was still a very nice Thanksgiving meal and we all had plenty to eat. Wish we could eat more to make it worth the cost. Worst part was the 10% sales tax in Cook County that just added so much. Plus tip, that was 30% more than the cost. Ouch. I almost forget already about IL tax but now I'm completely reminded.

Go for the Happy Hour Oysters! 1/2 price off select oysters, $1.50 each! We arrived a little early for Happy Hour so we started with Oysters Rockefeller, Lobster Bisque, Calamari and soft shell crab for appetizers. The Rockefellers were rich with spinach and light on cheese, a more refreshing profile than usual. The Lobster Bisque was rich and the grandchildren enjoyed dipping the sweet rolls into it! The soft shell crab was large with a tasty salad. The calamari were tender, but a little large for the grand children. The one disappointing dish was the Seafood Cioppino linguini. Our daughter-in-law was hopping for a San Francisco style brothy ciopinno and instead got a rather dry Seafood Pasta! As for the oysters on the 1/2 shell we consumed 6 dozen, so I'd say we liked them. Finally when we arrived there was no room in the Oysters Bar so we were given a table in the near empty Main Dining Room. At first the waiter said that the Oyster Happy Hour was only good in the Oyster Bar, but he thought management would accommodate us. Of couse they did. Given we were only one of two tables occupied the service was unusually slow, Matbe because it was 3:30 PM on a rainy Saturday!

I waited way too long to finally go to Shaw's. Way too long... I work in a small office and one of our partner company's had some associates coming to visit us and take us to lunch. We usually hit the same old steakhouse around the corner from the office, but that's boring. So a couple of us talked it over and decided Shaw's was a perfect lunchtime spot for this particular group. We arrived midweek right at lunch with a reservation. Our server took great care to get our orders right and get us out the door at the requested time. That made the team happy. Getting things like straws, extra napkins and the like proved a bit more difficult. The atmosphere and noise level were just right for a business lunch. There was plenty of elbow room around the table. I would go back for those reasons in a heartbeat. Plus there was valet parking in one of Schaumburg's most crowded parking lots. All good things. The food. Yeah, we tore that up. Can't sugar coat things like this. We ate like we had never seen food before. We started with the crab fingers. They were served on platters of ice with lemon and a zippy dipping sauce. The crab was good, but I really enjoyed the sauce. The fried calamari made its way around the table and it was very good. Lightly breaded. Not overcooked. The seafood sauce that arrived with it had a gelatinous consistency and didn't really adhere to the calamari so I have up on that sauce rather quickly. A few people had the lobster bisque, but said the consistency was different and they didn't love it. I've never had it before, so I wouldn't be able to provide a good comparison. The crab cakes and the garlic mashed potatoes were delightful! The caramelization on the garlic made it practically sweet! Soooo good! The seafood salad looked gorgeous and huge!! Now, for you non-seafood eaters...there are a few options. My coworker absolutely will not touch seafood and she was nervous about things like her French fries tasting fishy. She was my official/non-official non-seafood eating correspondent and she wanted me to be sure to mention that the fries were great and there was no sign of seafood on her plate. She really enjoyed her burger and was pleased with the entire meal. But there were no non-seafood appetizers to speak of. Overall, it was a great lunch. I had a tiny bit of shell in my crab cake (and a coworker did in her's too), but other than that, I really had no complaints. I really want to find a reason to try the $52 Sunday brunch. Maybe I'll get a gift card as a gift someday...

Stopped by the day after Valentine's Day for a girls day out starting with brunch then a movie. We had reservations but had to wait until the exact time to be seat. This was our first visit to Shaws and I have mixed feelings about this place. The food was average... I did like the opportunity to try oysters for my first time but there were only 2 types of sushi rolls. The better of the 2 was the sweet potato roll. I felt the hot buffet was rather lacking while the au gratin potatoes & waffle was great. The crab cake was dull and other items weren't too appealing. I came for seafood. One suggestion I would make is to have slices of lemon next to the hot crab station near the butter. The layout of the buffet was a bit annoying due to having to walk through the reception area to get to the cold bar items. The chocolate fountain next to the hostess table was a terrible idea as it crowds the already packed waiting area. Lastly, I felt our waitress had a bit of an attitude. She was quite moody the entire time and did not check on us during our time to see if we wanted drinks other than alcoholic ones. So so much for unlimited teas, coffee, and soft drinks. She also gave attitude when we asked to split our check, there was only 2 of us. And there was no crab fork at our table nor did she come around enough to check on us. When we asked her to take a photo she was less than enthusiastic. So maybe since she knew the price of the meal would've been decent enough she didn't have to actually provide pleasant service. I'm debating whether the brunch is worth $52 a person.

The service was really good. However, I was a little underwhelmed by the food. I had the yellow fin tuna and my husband had the Alaskan king crab legs. I would say they were good, but we have had better. Average and Mediocre food. 2 stars for service. They didn't have the pie I ordered which was on the menu (moose track pie). I would recommend Joe's seafood over shaw's in Schaumburg.

There are 2 sections of the restaurant, and we ate in the casual/diner area for lunch. I will say it is a little weird having fancy/expensive seafood in a diner setting, but not weird enough for me to be upset about it. Phil was our server and he was fantastic. He made great recommendations, and was the perfect mix of attentive but not overbearing. My date ordered a Manhattan from the bar and it was so good she got another. I had the "fling" (grapefruit, gin) and it was also delicious - it's on the sweet side so bear that in mind. We split a couple of entrees (hey! no splitting fee, yay!) that were very very tasty. I think that lunch is the way to go; the dishes are a little cheaper, restaurant not so crowded, etc. We had a great experience and will definitely come back.

Sunday brunch is a real treat! We had the best service when seated in the bar area. Our bartender / waiter was fun, provided excellent service, and kept us laughing through the a very happy brunch time. We will definitely return. Food quality is always excellent with fresh seafoods and interesting chilled brunch items.

I LOVE SHAW'S....best thing about Shaw's for me...Oysters, oysters and more oysters! Yes, I am an oyster lover. Always fresh, always get the 2 or 3 variety, they have half off oyster nights between 4-6, and .50 oyster nights!! How great is that? You don't have to pay full price! Oysters are not always huge, blue points are larger than the riptides - but they are always tasty, briny, sweet and just mouth watering delicious. They now offer 6 oyster varieties!!! Connecticut blue points - large & meaty with a mild briny finish, Katama Bays, Calm Cove, Oakland Bay, Barron Points (sweeter finish) & Riptides....mmmmmmmm. I've tried many different menu options as well...sushi is pretty darn good. Scallops entrée way over priced, fish & chips very good, but again, over priced, seared tuna delicious, lobster tail, crab legs. If you love seafood, you won't be disappointed, it has been consistently good every time I've dined here, I just think Shaw's leans towards the overly pricey side on many of their entrees...I could eat 2-3 dozen oysters here and call it a day. Atmosphere is nice - casual side with bar, and they have a more formal dining section as well. Just come for the oysters :)

Loved the brunch buffet. This was the best thing since the invention of caffeine. Yes, you heard right, the good stuff that most of us are in desperate need of EVERY day. Thanks to Candice G. for hipping me to their brunch. It was absolutely delicious. Everything was well stocked, service was out of this world and it was only $52 per person and the pricing includes juice or coffee. Truly, a memorable experience. Alaskan King Crab Legs, Omelette Station, Waffles, Lobster and Brie pasta, fresh oysters, sushi, smoked salmon, smoked pastrami, salads, bacon, lobster bisque, crab cakes, crabmeat stuffed deviled eggs, a dessert table and so much more. Bring your appetite.

This was our visit to Shaw's but it certainly will not be the last. I liked the location and the decor. The food and drink selections were terrific. But, the highlight of our visit was our server Kate. While she certainly did not "intrude" on our evening, she was so friendly and attentive we ended up talking with her for a while. What a great young lady and great ambassador for Shaw's. We will be sure to ask for her the next time we dine at Shaw's.

This place is incredible. They have the freshest seafood and the best service in town. They are extremely classy though so dressing up is a good idea. This place even has excellent sushi which was kind of surprising to me. The one downside is that it is a little on the pricier side. It does have a great atmosphere and selection however, so I guess you get what you pay for. Whenever I have been here, it has been a memorable experience.

Three words: Grand. Crab. Buffet. If you need a reason to go to Schaumburg, this is it. The best $60 per person you will spend. Fresh seafood, excellent service, and you will leave full and happy. The king crab is my favorite by far between it and the dungeness and snow crab. You don't need the butter, but it's in a warming pot at the end table. Oh, and the potatoes au gratin, while taking up some crab space, is super tasty! As is the crab cake, and the crab and artichoke dip you get at the beginning of your meal. And if you saved a bit of room for dessert, the pot de creme is fantastic!

I've been here twice. The most recent time was just 2 weeks ago or so. This past time I went with my boyfriend. It was his first time. We ordered a big bowl of clam chowder each (this was a bad idea -we should have just ordered a cup each.) It had good flavor but needed salt and pepper -we lived in Boston for a while and we can be tough to please in the chowder department. This one was solid but not the best ever. Last time I was here I thought it was one of the best chowders I've ever had... Maybe it was just an off night for the chowder. Crab cakes for an appetizer: just ok. Came with a nice little greenery. Ok sauce. Probably will try a different app next time. Entree: I had the accopolco (sp?) roll and the firecracker roll (or something -I can't quite remember the name.) I like the second one a lot but the alcopoco roll was blah. It had lettuce in it which made it a mouthful to eat and took away from the flavor. My boyfriend had the fussili pasta dish with lobster and it was outstanding!! Our server was nice but fairly frantic the whole time. Once the dinner rush cleared out he was cool and chatted with us about where they get their ice cream. We got the peppermint ice cream which was really amazing. I will definitely be back soon.

First time going this evening and there definitely was no wow factor. Atmosphere was something between pizzeria and neighborhood bar. Waiter was very friendly but when you're drink is empty awhile that doesn't impress me. Food has a nice presentation but flavor was average if that. Bob Chinn has a much nicer place/food selection for similar price. A quick update, I was impressed (and shocked) by receiving a response from the management off of this post. It's VERY reassuring that there are companies out there that pay attention to reviews. I will say that I WILL be making a second visit and will post on if I just experiences a possibly one time bad visit. :) Thank you for the e-mail btw.

Wanna try seafood from the first day we have been in Schaumburg. Shaw's is recommended by the hotel, and we could make it on final day. We ordered hot & cold appetizer combo, signature seafood salad and fish & chips. Every dish satisfied us, but a little pricy. Will try again next time here.

I went here for the first time in years and had a great time last weekend. We did the Sunday brunch and it was overwhelming but delicious! I loved the cold bar, everything from the salad, to the crab legs, to the sushi. So so good. Also, the devil eggs! One of my favorite things in the world is fried shrimp and that was perfect here as well. I had to hold myself back but I still went several times! Service was great. I really loved their bloody mary. Just the right amount of spice and the fixings were yummy. Sure, it's pricey but it's a fun place for the occasion. I know I will be back.

we love sitting in the bar area in a booth. We can order seafood and sushi and drinks and have a great time. been here a few times in the last few weeks. each time very good. last time I had the whole branzino. amazing. ate the whole thing myself. no sides, no dessert. just wanted that flavor to sit in my mouth. wine list is just ok, so i stick with vodka drinks. oysters before 6:00 is always a pleasure and good. we had to leave early last time because on the opposite side of us, in one booth was a lady that must have swam in perfume, killing us. the next table over was a well dressed man, but sent off some major BO. had to leave, could not sit another minute with those two scents swirling about over us.

I wanted to update my review for this place because since coming here the first time, I have come again and have had some contact with the management of this place that has changed my mind. A manager reached out to me and in talking with them, they agreed to give me another brunch certificate. It is always a nice thing when a manager is willing to go the extra mile to keep you happy. We came in for our free brunch and I will say that it was a fantastic brunch. It is pricey at around $50 a person, but I don't see this as being any different than going to one of those Brazilian steak houses and the food is just as good. They had a hot section, cold section and a desert table. In the hot section the highlights were the house-cured bacon, king crab legs and prime rib. They also had other stuff that looked great, but I was saving room. The cold section highlights were 2 sushi rolls, oysters on the half shell, large shrimp and lox station. The dessert highlights were creme brulee and raspberry pie. For $8 you could get a mimosa or a bloody Mary to wash down all this great food. The only drawback I found this time was that the only bathroom is upstairs while all the dining is downstairs - so it is a hike to go to the bathroom. The only negative about this is that the bathrooms were dirty (likely because they are far away from the staff). I will come back here for sure - it will be for a special occasion or when they are having a special promotion, but I will be back.

Hands-down, one of the worst dining experience of all our lives. Service was terrible - server took advantage at several points bringing us more expensive preparations of our orders - and the food absolutely did not answer the price tags. Will never, ever return.

Pretty good food here but overpriced for my standards. Came with the family to celebrate and use our lettuce gift card. We sat in the casual dress code section and the place does have a neat interior. Bar in the center and booths/tables are surrounding it, the place is decorated with a upscale beach shack dim-lighting vibe, if that makes any sense. We ordered Chilled Alaskan Red King Crab Bites to share and my god it was pricey. $26 for around 10 small pieces of crab that tasted mediocre. Good thing there is a 50% appetizer for yelp check in though, so the price was justified. The jambalaya was also just fine, nothing really stood out about it. The stand out dishes I thought were the Lobster, Brie & Cavatappi Pasta and the Seafood Salad. The pasta was so creamy and the lobster on top of it was good. The seafood salad is very clean topped with tons of chilled seafood on top. I'd skip the Sea Scallops and the Seafood Pasta here. There were only 5 scallops with no other sides and the seafood pasta you should be able to get elsewhere. Service here was as expected. So we ended spending around $40 a person for just slightly better dishes with some seafood. My verdict: other places with some quality food with lower price points.

Came here for Sunday brunch with the price tag of $52 per person. All the cold items are in the bar including items like half shelled oysters (east & west coast), smoke salmon, prosciutto style salmon, cold snow crab legs, sushi rolls. They are the stars of the brunch. There was a kid table too with kids friendly items. The other side of the dining room has all the hot items. King crab legs, roast beef and lobster bisque at chef's table, as well as cook-to-order omelets. King crabs are okay, they don't taste particularly fresh, personally I find them a bit salty. Other hot items are quite a let down. The lobster macaroni was rubbery, halibut was forgettable, potato au gratin doesn't look appetizing. Fried jumbo shrimp is pretty good. Best thing is the mini crab cakes. Dessert table has good variety we tried the key lime tart and cheese cake. Service was disappointing. Our waitress was just going through the motion. We had a bowl on every table for shells/scraps but a busboy took it to empty he but never brought it back. Table was also not cleared when we return from the buffet line. We are not demanding folks. When we go to a buffet, we expect our plates to be cleared and drinks topped up. Simple right? Guess not for this waitress. Several times our waitress looked over at our table, saw the plates, did nothing. She even came over to ask how's everything and walked away without picking up the empty plates. I mean, really? For dessert, we ask for coffee, which took a while to receive. Then I had to ask and wait for a spoon for my coffee. Just lack common sense. For the price they charge, I expect better service. Bottom line, 3 stars for the food, 2 stars for the service. I couldn't justify rounding it up to 3 stars because I won't be back.

Good for Take-Out. Ordered from this place as part of a mass work related group order. A lot of my colleagues got sushi - which they seemed to enjoy. I on the other hand ordered the Maine Lobster Roll and French fries. This dish was delicsious - even as a to go portion. Definitely would recommend getting this.

Shaw's seems to be one of those places of hit or miss. I'd like to feel that it was raising its batting average. Not so on our last visit. Given the timing of our meal, we were seated in the bar area. It was busy. Our waitress was busy, pressed to pay attention to perhaps more than one table than she should have--result: slow service at our table. Seafood anywhere is pricey. So Shaw's entrees are pricey and the items are noteworthy by description. It just doesn't taste like they are fully delivering on the items offered. I had the fish special which wasn't special. Great by menu description, average in taste. Dry, not moist. (Had it warmed under a lamp, waiting for our waitress to serve it?) The sides were passable, but on the cool rather than warm side of passable. My wife had a seafood salad. Nothing special. It took time to catch the eye of the server to request more salad dressing and it took more time to get it. Just average food. Too bad. The ingredients and the description suggest that much better is possible. It doesn't seem that it's being delivered.

This review of for the SHAW'S GRAND CRAB BUFFET ONLY: First thing is the reservation. They do run out of seats (at least they did on our last attempt) so a little planning ahead will be required. I'm pretty sure a reservation is required. Next and most importantly, the FOOD! It's fantastic. The king crab legs were wonderful, super tasty...like butter! While the are all you can eat, they do serve them to you at the buffet. They will give you as many as you like and the guy serving never felt like he was judging me (and I'm an eater). The other items on the buffet were also top notch, oysters were great, peel and eat shrimp were large and tasty, the beef loin was very well prepared and the desert table was quite yummy. The ONLY reason I did not give this place all 5 stars is the price. It's currently set at $59 per person. For me, that's tops I'm gonna pay per head (just me, I don't know your life or your budget). When walking out I noticed a flyer for the buffet that said $69, so my guess is in 2015 the price is going up. I understand seafood prices are rising, but personally that's too rich for my blood, I'd be more likely to just order a dish in the dining room, but I will be back.

We ordered scallops and king crab and they were pretty good. The king crab portion is kinda small given its about 65 dollars per order (it's normally good for one person). The scallops were okay, nothing special. I asked for extra mushroom but they came a little bit heavy on the vinegar sauce and a little bit salty. Service was fine. Very family friendly and good for a date.

Great place. We started with the calamari, then had the steam lobster and grilled shrimp for our main course. Then had key lime pie for desert. The atmosphere was very nice. The staff was incredible. They attended to us perfect, and they were not over bearing. I would definitely come back and would recommend this restaurant to others.

Excellent meal for date night. Service up to par with the prices. Surf and turf was excellent and the desert was great as well. My standards are high for a 5 but this isn't a bad date night dinner.

I was absolutely blown away by how much I loved the decor and floorplan. The interior reminded me so much of the Queen Mary ship harbored in L.A. Lovely 40s-50s decor creates a wonderful vintage feel, along with the music selection that combines great 50s songs with some bluesy rock (riding along in my automobile...). The menu, of course, is heaven for seafood lovers. The Friday night we went was a lovely summer evening, so we decided to dine outside. The bread basket was lovely, a combination of two types of thin cracker-bread and cheesy and soft bread squares. We started with the baked blue crab and artichoke dip. Delicious, warm, stringy, cheesy, amazing. I ordered the lobster boil, which included a 1 LB lobster, full ear of corn, and garlic butter potatoes with a side of liquefied butter and cole slaw. It comes with a slice of key lime pie. He ordered the tilapia with the sweet potato mash side. Simple and very tasty! I took one star away because of the unusual length of time that it took to get our appetizer and main dishes. Luckily we didn't have any other plans so we could stay and enjoy a very leisurely dinner. Also, the only restroom facilities are located on the second floor, where the meeting/event space is also located. Take an elevator or the winding stairs up. I enjoyed the vibe and will be back on many occasions, I am sure. Thank you for the great experience!

Hard to understand how anyone can give Shaw's less than 5 stars. Here in Chicago we have very limited choices for truly great seafood. Shaw's is simply the best. Nothing frozen here. They don't even have their seafood delivered, they actually go to the airport and pick it up fresh- delivered right from the plane every day. Is it expensive? Yes. Is it worth it? Absolutely. In the Summer, they grow their own herbs and tomatoes on the roof of the building. I love the attention to detail here. The restaurant itself is VERY comfortable and the service is friendly and mostly professional. You will feel right at home dressed casual or dressy. The atmosphere is clubby with a nautical theme and perfect for a relaxing, fun night out. I would recommend Shaw's for special occasions because it is pricey. But you are paying for quality and you get quality. The best crab legs and the freshest seafood. Shaw's is part of the Lettuce Entertain You group of restaurants, so there are always ways to get discounts for yourself-like their promotion of buy a $100 gift certificate and get a $25 certificate for free. Expect to pay a minimum of $150.00 per couple for dinner at Shaw's.

Pretty expensive for a cheap person like myself. However, watch their social media posts. Every week they have one hour where they offer oysters for $1, and they are awesome! They also have half-priced oyster every day from 4pm-6pm, so stop in for the deals! The oysters are worth full price ($3) but they're especially delicious for a discount. I also had a bowl of clam chowder for $8, and that was definitely worth it. Very filling! My date and I filled up on delicious seafood and clam chowder for $20 each (12 oysters and a bowl of clam chowder each).

I think I have been to Shaw's maybe 4 or 5 times in the past year and it has always been good, everything I ordered or saw. Great fresh sushi, decent service. Most recently, I was here with my brother for lunch. I decided to splurge a little since I have been bought so many meals lately. Hmm, lobster roll, sushi, or jambalaya, or . . ?? I ended up getting the big seafood salad for lunch. Yuumm - O! A decent amount lobster, shrimp, 2 kinds of crab atop a nicely tangy vinaigrette dressed large salad with cherry tomatoes, black olives and hard boiled eggs. Perfect for a summer day. Now, if I was only by an ocean eating it. Bro got the Tuna Tartare Sesame salad - beautiful Tuna Tartare pieces with a nice arugala salad. And FIFA World Cup on the TV to boot.

Considering how much money this place charges per meal (my hubby and I had a $220 bill) I would have thought they would spruce the place up a little more. The restaurant is very dated - some of the ceiling tiles looked rotted or moldy. Our server she was excellent and very knowledgeable on the menu. The crab and sides we ordered (lobster mac n cheese and the asparagus) were great. I am hoping the can renovate this location make it a bit more modern.

Very noisy bar area but had a lot of TVs to catch a game. Oysters were excellent but pricey. The clam chowder was ok. Steaks were done very well. For the price, I think you can get better value elsewhere.

We've only been here twice now, but I will write a review because I doubt we would go back. With so many good dining options in the area this place would drop low on our list. The first time was for dinner and I remember us thinking it was pretty good. That was about 4 months ago. But yesterday for a late lunch, it was really mediocre. The service was just okay. He actually acted like we were bothering him at times. Didn't keep our drinks filled. Wasn't friendly either. The food was okay. For what you pay, there are better options for seafood. We would much rather go to Bob Chinn's or Pappadeaux. Both are comparable price-wise but both are much, much better than Shaw's in quality, quantity, atmosphere and service. I find it weird to have basically three entities within one building - Shaw's dining room, Shaw's bar and Tokio Pub which is outside of the bar area? Hey Mr. Melman... I suggest you focus on one thing until you nail the first concept. The Caesar salad was limp and rusty and very fishy tasting. The clam chowder was good. The bread wasn't bad, but very sour dough. The salmon was fishy, not cooked to my specifications, and had some weird Asian cold slaw with it. No fresh salmon on the menu. Really?? It seems like that should be a staple. The king crab was good, but definitely not a great value. The cocktail I had was good. The soda was flat (both of them). It's nice they have a tasting dessert menu but neither the bananas foster nor the creme brûlée were very good. And they only have bathrooms upstairs? Come on, man!?!? They compete with themselves with Big Bowl and Maggianos in the same parking lot. Shaw's was definitely third place for us.

I was there this past Sunday. My sister was at the Oyster Bar on Sat and just raved about it. My family (small children, a one year old and a 7 year old) and I decided to go on Sun for our very first time at Shaws celebrating my husband's 45th birthday dinner. We rarely ever eat out!! -We were seated at 530p, and followed the hostess. Our waitress, with an English accent, told us we should have been seated the oyster bar, due to our order, her side doesn't accommodate it as well, I thought she was a little crass for saying that. Regardless, we ordered. We were already seated and my children already dove into their bread. - 635p, and many frustrations we received our food. - 650p we were done eating. Yes, we were that hungry - 720p, we finally got our check. We were over charged for a serving of oysters, but my kids were antsy, my husband and I were frustrated, we just wanted to get out of there, so we paid and left. Our bill was 185, and we gave the recommended tip, and bolted towards the door. Why did I record the time? Because I'm a mother with two kids. Time is important. Our drinks stayed empty..and we were just not happy with the service. The food was alright. . We expected the priciness, but the service ruined our time and experience there. I'm going to look past my own experience, because my sister enjoyed her time there, and give it some stars.

A nice place for a business lunch to impress your business partner. We did just that today. I had Tuna Sushi and Asian Salad combination. The quality of the fish was very good. Also I want to mention the waitress's prompt & courteous service. The restaurant is clean and nice looking interior touch without overwhelming decorating stuff.

I've lived around Chicago for almost 30 years. In all of that time I have never been to Shaws in Schaumburg. Years ago I went to the one in Wheeling a few times. I was invited their by an old colleague for lunch. It was spectacular. While it was not very crowded, we opted to sit at a table in the bar. I ordered something I have been craving for some time - a New England Lobster Roll. It was fantastic - the best I remember and I grew up in the northeast. It was served on a New England style bun (sliced down the middle) that was grilled. There was a tremendous amount of Lobster in creamy dressing. I loved it. The sandwich was served with fries and cole slaw, both of which were great. They dress the fries somehow - I'm not sure what the herbs were, but something was on them. It is quite expensive, even for lunch. But, for a business meal or a special occasion, I don't think you can go wrong going to Shaws.

Beep beep, back up the truck - Shaw's Crab House is back in town and once again a #1 favorite for the freshest seafood, fish and friendly, helpful, attentive service. Having smoothed over a previous rough patch to the tune of the most flavorful platter of fresh crab bites I've ever had (they put traditional crab legs to shame), it's a spectacularly grand meal that has Shaw's back in my restaurant repertoire!! Two of us shared the bites, which were more like a huge helping of rich, succulent crab leg than a bite. My friend had a side green salad that was simply fresh, flavorful and delicious, as were the freshest, most flavorful green beans. My friend and I each ordered the lobster roll, which included tasty fries and cole slaw and was THE BEST we've had anywhere in the Chicago area. For $24, the sandwich was bursting in the finest, most tasty lobster meat. There was enough lobster spilling over on each sandwich to take away for a meal later on. All we could taste was the most delicious lobster and the freshest roll No drowning in mayonnaise and celery chunks. This was the real deal! Unlike most restaurants that have a failing mantra, Shaw's reached out to me with a gift certificate to come back and try them again. So glad I did. Everyone deserves a second chance, especially when the establishment USED to be consistently great. Shaw's is back with A grade quality, and I'm thrilled. Between stellar quality, taste, a full menu of delicious seafood,, it's always nice to have a reliable place to go to for a great meal and nice service.

Their Grand buffet is quite good - great selection and not overcrowded. Fairly priced. Friendly wait staff, nice decor. Like some "buffets" (typically ick) it really didn't have that vibe that felt too casual, it was like being at a nice wedding with buffet style, if that makes sense. Crabcakes, cocktail shrimp, bisque, crab was all great. I had noted my husband's birthday on the reservation and they brought out a piece of cake. Overall a great dinner and experience. Also, this is not a no-holds barred type of crab buffet (i.e. casinos, etc.) - they serve the king crab to you a few pieces at a time so it keeps things more dignified! (I have seen serious carnage at other places when crab is on the menu!)

Tonight's dinner was amazing! We sat at the bar because it was crowded and we had no reservation. The bartenders were still great! I started out with the Rockefeller oysters. They were the best oysters I've ever had! And I've been to NOLA! For my main meal I had the Sea Food Salad. This was awesome! It was filling, with so much seafood but still light! You didn't feel like you were about to burst and I still had half left to take home for left-overs! Best Sea Food restaurant hands down!

This is a review for the Sat nite crab buffet: at first the setting didn't impress me but once you taste all of the food, it just completely erases the breakfast feel of the place. Everything was delish, especially the brie/lobster pasta, Maryland style crab cakes, dessert and of course, the steamed king crab. Most of the dishes are presented in mini sizes but after so many trips to the table, you will get beyond satisfied. Their chocolate with walnuts cookies were awesome, btw! And they had this one staff member who was in a zone refilling those tables with food! It was a great experience!

We came here on a thursday night just the two of us. It was busy but no long wait. First off, the service was excellent. The waiter was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. The busboy would continually refill our waters, bread rolls and clean up quickly. The waiter even refilled a few times for us also. I really enjoyed their complimentary fluffy warm asiago cheese rolls, moist crabcake with big crab chunks dipped in mustard mayonnaise, and the meaty and perfectly cooked lobster tail. Oh and their creme brulee went down my throat very quickly, very good. Everything else we ordered below was not bad but wasn't as good as the above. Quite expensive meal but we got to order a variety of things for around $150 tab. We got the things above as well as a single stone crab claw appetizer, raw oyster sampler .5 dozen, mashed potatoes as a side, crab california maki, and a key lime pie. Since I was pregnant I did not try the oysters but my husband said they were very fresh and refreshing. We only had the mashed potatoes and key lime pie to take home.

Apparently Shaw's Crab House does brunch! The staff was very friendly and attentive. It's a buffet that's setup throughout the restaurant. We got there shortly after it opened up and by the time we left, it had started getting pretty busy. They offered all sorts of foods to choose from: waffles, french toast, fresh carved beef, omelets, crab legs, sushi, shrimp, and some really yummy desserts. Everything I tried was absolutely delicious. It's rather pricey, but the food is definitely worth it if you're looking for an upscale brunch!

Hi I just want to say that my experience was great . I booked my Christmas family dinner here back in November for this Saturday.i had called a few days before just to make sure everything was perfect for my family dinner. I told the host that I was seeing if we still were planned for Saturday buffet. The host told he that they had a party and the host told me the wrong day for the buffet. She said let me talk to my manager . The manager Kristina spoke with me about the mix up . I was so upset (sleep deprived from my daughter) I just lost it my husband called to see what the problem was and because of the mix up she had accomoatedl to us . What could of been a bad experience turned out Amazing thank you to Christina

Absolutely not impressed. Very standard bland food at astronomical prices. The halibut tacos were pretty decent but the other dishes were way overpriced and just meh! Don't take your date here because both of you will be disappointed... maybe take your kids for a glorified Red Lobster experience and/or corporate people who won't appreciate a good meal and just need a receipt to expense out.

Quite possibly the worst customer service in my entire life happened at this location. Being brought ice cold food and then laughed in your face when you say the food is cold, was horrible. I could understand if I was being mean about the cold food but I simply just said my steak is ice cold and the waitress laughed, stuck her finger in it and then said I'll hear it back up. Wha?!?!

Always quality, always good food and drink. Not as busy on that Friday night as I expected, but a great place and a great time. Not leaving any details as we just had snacks and drinks this trip, but it was solid like always. Thanks Shaw's.

I have been here before for a more fine dining experience and loved everything about it. Last night my wife and I came for dinner and sat in the bar area. The service was outstanding, speciality drinks were spot on but the food was just okay this time around. I got the New England lobster role. The lobster was fresh but the overall role was a little bland and lacked flavor. My wife got the lobster pasta dish. The flavor was there but it was served almost cold. Overall we had a good time but we would have had a better experience this time around if the food was better. The fine dining experience we loved in the past was on a Saturday and this time we came on a Monday.

Fantastic Mardi Gras dinner with cold seafood appetizer plate, crab legs, and Po'Boy. I wanted bread pudding for dessert, but it wasn't on the menu. Waiter went next door to their Tokio Joe's and got me one! Very happy.

Although I love the food my service was subpar. I made reservations through opentable for my birthday. We got sat in the bar and our server was busy with the guests sitting at out at the bar and was not timely with checking up on us. Furthermore he didn't acknowledge that it was birthday.

I just left here after having dinner and to say the least I will never revisit this place. First there was a 15 minute wait when it wasn't even busy, I tried to order a dinner special (crab cakes) and was told I couldn't substitute the soup for a different soup, it was Clam Chowder or nothing, so I ended up ordering the crab cakes and the soup I preferred. I had to wait 35 minutes before I received the cakes, which were very bland. Save your money and go else ware,

It's hard not to make this five stars, but the eternal price creep here is never ending. I had just gotten used to the $45 Sunday brunch when I see it is now $52. Four and a half stars rounded down. Excellent seafood, bar, specials, OYSTER specials. This is our favorite in the Lettuce Entertainment chain right after Mon Ami Gabi in Vegas. I think their Frequent Diner Club card, in combination with their specials, takes some edge off the eternal price creep but I have to admit I like Shaw's a lot better when somebody else is paying for it. Live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights and Tokio Pub is attached. There are two rooms here, a more formal dining room on the left when you walk in, dark and full of suits, or the better lit more lively raw bar side where they have live entertainment on the weekend and also leads to Tokio Pub. Pick one because these are really disparate choices. We just had a wonderful late lunch served very helpfully by Mr. Mario in the Raw Bar space including a dozen half price Oysters for Fat Tuesday, yummy. Perfectly prepared Haddock and the Lobster Roll is nice for those of you who like your lobster with mayo between bread, not me. Enjoy.

You definitely get what you pay for. Great atmosphere, Attentive service and a simply delicious menu. Got the variety of hot appetizer, and one of the house cocktails. Dipping sauces for the Tizers were vary fitting, crab cakes had huge chunks of crab and a appropriate amount of binder. Cocktail was delicious enough to have a second. Entrees where surf and turf and my girlfriend got the surf and surf. Perfect would be an understatement, could not have been better across the board. Lobsters were divine, the filet mignon could be cut with a fork. The wild mushrooms where superb and the garlic mashed potatoes well put together. Crème brûlée and a espresso to end the meal was a delightful way to end the night. I would recommend for special occasions, to make them that much more special.

I've always liked it there....not love, but liked it. We went for lunch on a saturday afternoon about 1. There were probably 6 people at the bar....tops. The bartender was thee worst! Mr. Mario! I don't know if he was having a bad day or what, but he was so arrogant and just ignored everyone at the bar. It took us 2 hours to order lunch! And on top of that, our food came out cold. I NEVER complain. He would walk right past people who were looking to get their check, looking to order, wanting to pay.....Just horrible. I will not be going back anytime soon. Sorry, I can NOT recommend it.....There are MANY other places to go and get much better service!

My family recently visited Shaw's in Schaumburg this week to celebrate two birthdays ... my son's birthday and my birthday. In total we had four family members, my two sons, my wife and I. I have not been to Shaw's in about three or four years, but I remember having several wonderful dining experiences. However, this latest dining experience was not on par with my past experiences at Shaw's. On a 1-10, with 10 being great, I remember Shaw's as an 8 or 9. My most recent dinner I would rate as a 5 or 6. MENU ... The menu offerings are less that I remember, I would estimate that about a quarter to a third of the seafood menu items are no longer available. I have always enjoyed the wide variety of seafood at Shaw's. COCKTAILS ... The martinis that my wife and I ordered were watered down. It was as though the drinks were made with melted ice. BREAD / SERVICE ... Shaw's has some of the tastiest bread! However we had to ask for additional bread after enjoying the the total four pieces in the basket for four people. We were not asked "Would you care for more bread?" even though the basket was clearly empty. At a restaurant of Shaw's standing & expense one should not have to ask for additional bread, it should be freely offered ... especially when it tastes so great. Just my opinion! TUNA ENTREE ... The tuna entree that I ordered was bland. Yes. I realize that tuna, by definition, is prepared in a very simple fashion, but the tuna entree that I remember from past Shaw's visits was seared with a sesame coating. The past seared sesame entree was terrific ... please add it back to the menu! The accompanying wide Asian noodles were chewy, somewhat rubbery. DESSERT ... As we were being seated, we were asked by the staff (not sure if server or hostess) if we were celebrating a special event. I responded that we were indeed celebrating two birthdays. At the end of the meal the server brought a piece of chocolate cake to our table; we thought it was complimentary since we did not order the dessert. The piece of chocolate cake was very tasty, but again, we did not order the cake. However, we were charged ($8?) for the cake. We should have brought this to the attention of our server, but we were celebrating and I did not want to make a big deal out of an $8 dessert. Did we miss an $8 off-setting credit on the check? I don't think so. Looking back on it, we should have brought this charge to the server's attention. Hopefully not sounding too negative, there were bright spots in the dining experience. My sons really enjoyed their meals (chowder, lobster rolls) and my wife enjoyed her soup and salad. However, this recent dining experience at Shaw's was overall a bit disappointing ... especially since I remember having had several wonderful dining experiences at one of my favorite seafood restaurants. I will return for another meal at Shaw's and see if my recent dining experience was a one time event; perhaps it was just an anomaly. I am not giving up on one of my favorite seafood restaurants!

My APOLOGIES! I made a HUGE mistake with the review below. I was reviewing JOE'S CRAB SHACK - NOT this restaurant. I was visiting from California and went to many restaurants and when I came back home reviewed them. Obviously I messed up the name and I am so so sorry. I am very impressed with the management at SHAWS CRAB HOUSE for writing me and wanting to know how they could help. You were right! It was the wrong restaurant I was reviewing. :) I look forward to checking your place out the next time I am in Illinois. Until then I have copied the review below so I could put it where it belongs. :) ................ REVIEW FOR JOE'S CRAB SHACK: Not impressed at all! Came for my sisters birthday and ordered the Grilled queen crab. Silly me for assuming 'grilled' meant 'cooked on a GRILL. Not at Shaw's crab House. What it means is boiled crab with a pound of some powdered seasoning that made me want to gag. My husband made the same "mistake". We washed off this crap as best as we could but it was literally drowning in it. The crab meat underneath was salty and other than that tasteless. Loud music and broken down barroom atmosphere with five-star prices. Music blasting in your ears can't even hear the people across from you... Will NEVER go back again. Prices are outrageous for that boiled tasteless meat.

It had been a few years since we visited Shaw's. Had high hopes for an excellent meal at a price that would hopefully be worth it for what they charge (fairly obscene). In a word, "no"...all around. Boy, the Lettuce Entertain You restaurants have really gone downhill since, well, since the recession. Shaw's is probably the most expensive in their chain in the suburbs. If I'm going to spend $36 (or was it $39?) for a piece of salmon, I had better be blown away by what's presented to me at my table. Sorry, but "no". Funny thing about the salmon, the waiter (who seemed a little too full of himself) asked me if cooking it "medium" was acceptable. I said "yes" and when I started to eat into it, it got rarer with each passing bite. I sent my salmon back and waited at least 10 minutes for it to come back with not so much as a mea culpa from the waiter (that grievous error was reflected in his tip). Entrees are all a la carte and our side order of garlic mashed potatoes was cold. Best entree item? My son's fries with his grilled cheese sandwich. I will also give kudos to their chocolate strawberry layer cake. It's as good as the towering layer cake at sister, Maggiano's. Save your money and find someplace that really makes you feel like you're getting your money's worth.

Brunch - much more than basic brunch - fresh oysters from the west and east coast, sushi, shrimp, crab legs. Fantastic! If you like jazz music, sit in the dining room. If you prefer the blues, sit in the oyster bar.

Enjoy the seafood! It is a crab house after all. We come once a year and I usually get the king crab. It comes perfectly prepared and I never even had to use the crab tools to get out the meat. There was so much meat I could cut it with a knife! Heaven! I also suggest the sampler for the dessert! Perfect mix of tastes and portions. You can go casual on the oyster bar side or formal on the steakhouse side. Whatever works for you! :)

  • Nicole W.

I love crab legs. I also enjoy lobster. Shaw's does both of these (and many other items from the sea) very well. However, I implore you to set aside 50 clams per person and try their brunch. It seems pricey but oh.my .gah. it is impressive. And tasty. And almost unbelievable. High fin. Why so impressive? Well, beyond the requisite b-fast items (eggs, potatoes, french toast, pastries, etc), there is a plethora of sushi, crab legs, oysters, fish, and a bloody mary bar that is to die for. Go to Shaw's brunch. Go hungry and conquer.

I love Shaw's Crab House in Schaumburg by the WoodField mall. The service was good but the food was even butter. I love their summer deals with free maki night and live music from 10:00 to midnight makes going out there a lot of fun. I would go back to Shaw's Crab house for the oyster bar. I can't wait to save my money up for a good brunch buffet there too. Plus, they are super kid friendly day or night time. So yes I recommend Shaw's Crab House to anybody who wants to treat themselves to a wonderful dining experience as well as gourmet seafood. Shaw's Crab house rocks!

Had a horrible experience there being my first time there. Made reservations well in advanced and walk-ins were given more attention than us. Four couples were seated first that simply walked in, and waited over a half hour after reservations were made. Then, waited fifteen minutes before any attention was given to our table, only to be served cold and stail bread. The menu didn't appeal to myself and my guest. Would of had a expectation that there would more to choose from than only king crab legs. That said, adding a side dish as a appetizer seemed difficult and bothersome to the server. I'm sure this restaurant does good overall, however my experience was something less to be desired and we left without ordering. We won't be coming back.

We were planning to shop at Woodfield, so we stopped by here for restaurant week about a month ago. I had the Lobster Roll and it was good, but it does not compare to Acadia. It was full of flavor and loaded with celery and mayo. The bread had the perfect amount of butter and crisp to it. I just felt like something was still missing to make it memorable. I came here with a part of 8 and half of us got the Lobster Roll and the other half the Shaws Chopped Salad that's loaded with lobster, crab, and shrimp. As much as I hate salads, this was not bad as well. The best thing about our meal was actually the bread that you get for free. It was very soft and good.

I have always had good service. The brunch is good especially if you like crab legs. The prices run a bit high--$52 for adult brunch but children eat free. Also, join the Lettuce Entertain you club in order to get awesome birthday rewards to use toward dining. I have frequently gotten additional rewards for money I have spent there. Their reward program is above average--it is worth joining!!!

Another place I was very surprised that I have never reviewed considering I have grown up going here. Now that Tokio Pub is connected I visit Shaw's less, but it is still a nicer dining staple in my life. I have gotten a ton of different things here. For appetizers, the fried calamari is incredible. If I am with a larger group we usually order the hot sampler. With a Yelp check in, we were given a free shrimp cocktail as well this time! Oh and I never pass on the Lobster Bisque... NEVER. The drinks here are great. They have sweet martinis that I love and a nice wine selection. This time around I ordered a White Peach Martini and a Blue Chicago. The Blue Chicago is no longer on the menu, but they will still make it if you request it. I love the Seared Tuna Steak here, you can never go wrong with it. This time around, I went with a Blackened Tilapia with mashed Sweet Potatoes. This was also fantastic. And last but definitely not least, each time I come here I end up sharing the dessert sampler with the group. My favorite is always the crème brulee. One star off because our waitress was a bit flaky and rude this time around. Also, I hate having to go upstairs to use the restroom! Other than that no complaints in the food department!

First time visiting Shaw's based upon a friend's recommendation. We tried their oyster special and it was okay. I ordered the sesame crusted tuna tacos which were just mediocre. The tortillas came out soggy from the kitchen which made for a very messy meal. I didn't even eat two of the three tortillas because they were mush. Complete disappointment. The twice baked potatoes were velvety, creamy and pretty tasty. The server never came to ask us how the meal was and if we needed anything else. In fact, he returned at the end of the meal. Almost $100 later and I'm still hungry and very dissatisfied. Not a place I plan to return to especially since the food we ordered was not worth the value.

After reading my review, the management team at Shaw's offered me gift certificates to come back to the restaurant to give them a second chance. I am happy to report the good the bad and the ugly. Let's start with the good. Shaw's has pretty good food. The quality of food is outstanding. Today I had the club room dinner which came with a 6oz filet mignon, three grilled shrimps, and two scallops. I enjoyed the food. Another good is service. Our server didn't take 7 mins to serve us water. We were seated right away and within a minute our waitress came to ask if we wanted drinks and told us the daily special. Now for the bad. I still believe this restaurant is overprice. The quality of food is great but for the price I wouldn't come back. My meal alone was $44 bucks. I added a mixed salad that came with only mixed greens no other veggies included croutons and that salad was $7 bucks. I can go to the grocery store and buy greens, veggies, and croutons that would last me a week for that price. Last but not least is the ugly. I am sad to say the name of your restaurant "Shaw's Crab House" is very misleading because there are two crab dishes on the menu. This is very ugly. It's very disappointing for consumers to think they are going to a crab house and learn there is limited amount of crab selection on the menu. What happen to snow crab and Dungeness crab??? Only Alaskan crab is available. This is very sad restaurant for true crab lovers. There are more oysters and sushi selection than crab, so my final recommendation is to change the restaurant name from Shaw's Crab house to Shaw's Seafood house.

Valentine's Day dinner and the wifey wanted seafood. What the wifey wants, the wifey gets so that meant going big. Shaw's Crab House delivered on all marks from the interior, service, and especially the food. Succulent, fresh, and mouth-watering seafood that was well worth the price. We started with the rainbow roll which contained tuna, salmon, yellowtail and real crab in the middle. Most of the time, a rainbow roll is made with imitation crab but this wasn't the case. It was the first time where the crab was the main attraction. For the entrees, we ordered Shaw's Seafood Platter and the grilled Atlantic yellowfin tuna. The seafood platter had a moist crab cake and perfectly cooked scallops and shrimp. The Atlantic yellowfin tuna was simply outstanding. Imagine a large fillet of sushi grade tuna cooked medium rare served with pan fried wide rice noodles with a ginger soy vinaigrette. The vinaigrette was so good that I had to ask the waiter what was in it. I would have licked my plate if I was alone. Yes, the prices are a bit expensive but here are some tips for the best dining experience: *Happy wife happy life * There is steak on the menu but it's called a crab house for a reason so get something from the sea * Some tables are close to other diners so be careful when cracking your shellfish so that it doesn't hit someone in the eye * Don't lick your plate to savor the flavor even though you think no one is looking Even after looking at the bill, I had no remorse because the meal was outstanding. If you are looking for great seafood, then Shaw's is the place to be.

First time at Shaw's with my husband and really can't say that I was impressed. The food was average and don't think I would return. I had higher expectations for my experience. We chose to eat for the Grand Crab buffet and I've had a better time at Joe's Crab Shack. Extremely disappointing.

Great Calamari and fresh baked bread. The customer service from Ryan was excellent as well . We came in for a light snack but we'll come back for the Sunday brunch (make sure to inquire about their gift certificates deal). I'll update this review after my Sunday brunch visit.

I just love Shaw's Crab House. We went for part of our anniversary weekend and enjoyed the Grand Buffet on Saturday night. I love the intimate room and the awesome service. I enjoyed the sushi so much and my husband ate an ocean of oysters. And as silly as it sounds, I just love their Au Gratin Potatoes. I usually order an entree in the restaurant just so I can have a potato option! The best thing about Shaw's Crab House, they let the seafood speak for itself. They don't need to try to "fuse" it to make it jazzy, they serve quality items so that the seafood speaks on its own. Everything was just delicious and I can't wait to come back.

Went here a couple months back for a friend's birthday dinner and holy shitballs it was amazing. We decided to opt for the oyster bar 1) because we're poor, and 2) we wanted to get our drink on and not be judged for it. Now, I'm not going to lie...I was a little hesitant because everything looked so pricey when I checked the menu online, but the oyster bar prices are reasonable. Our waiter, Mr. Mario (freaking AWESOME, by the way) started us off with some drinks and was checking back on us throughout the entire night and was shooting jokes our way. I casually dropped a hint that it was our friend's big 2-5 and jokingly asked when the free birthday shot would be coming. Surely enough, 5 minutes later, the guy comes back with not one, but FOUR free shots for all four of us that were there. AWESOME. The food itself is heavenly--I ordered the fish and chips (I know, I know, a very safe choice) and damnit, they were the best fish and chips I've ever had. The fish is perfectly battered and it's so nice and flaky on the inside and the "chips" were good too--fresh cut fries, all served with tartar sauce, which is hands down, the best tartar sauce I've had. Sobering up after what turned into a 2 and a half hour dinner, Mr. Mario came back with a free slice of the most decadently sweet chocolate cake for the birthday girl. Overall, definitely satisified, and "Yay! I'm a fan!"

We had a really great Mother's Day brunch here in May. Food wise, I think this is easily a four-star brunch experience. The raw/cold bar is extensive with tons of raw oysters, sushi, shrimp, and various kinds of smoked salmon, to name a few. The hot section also has a lot going on. The bacon in the buffet was fantastic! It was coated in some kind of maple glaze which was really delicious and decadent. Also, the king crab legs were amazing. Huge crab legs, and the servers do not skimp out on the portions, so you don't have to make as many trips. Everything else in the buffet was great. Nothing really to complain about. Overall, I was really happy with the brunch experience I had here. I can't wait to come back for another meal!

  • Allyson R.

One word: awful. I went here for what was supposed to be a nice meal for Mother's Day. For starters, $59 for a buffet you'd expect service to be on point and food to die for but sadly that was far from the case. When we got seated we literally waited 15 minutes before a server came over to the table and got our drink orders. He never returned after that, not to give us refills or to even ask how we liked the food or anything. The food on the 'hot' side was cold and tasteless. The mashed potatoes were salty, the asparagus was gushy, and the fried shrimp was gross. The 'flowerless chocolate brownie' tasted like raw batter stuck in a cheap paper thing. The dessert was absolutely awful. At the end of the meal we got these soppy wet towels to apparently clean our hands with. I could get better stuff on an airplane. I think it's safe to say that I won't be coming here again. This was the first and last time I will come here. I'll be telling all my friends to stay far away from this place. By far, the shittiest buffet I've ever been to.

$0.50 oysters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YUM! My first time at Shaw's and the sole reason is for their $0.50 oysters. Upon arriving we were told our wait would be 15-20 minutes, after inquiring if we can be seated inside a room with open tables, the host said no because she didn't want us to receive bad service due to the server already being fully seated. I've worked in a restaurant before where I've triple even quadrauple sat servers and they handled it fine even with new servers as long as you explain to your guests and communicate with them things should be fine. Well, luckily we were added on to a group of friends that were already there and right away we were able to order our oysters and soup. The oysters, the big ones were delicious and fresh. The baby ones were okay. They give you a mix in each dozen you order. Our soups came out quickly and my seafood gumbo was okay, it needed a little more spice. So I enjoyed the oysters and devour my soup right? Why the 3 stars? Well, our server was a grouch. I'm sure he was unhappy we were there only for oysters but with our party of 8+ he's already getting a 18% gratuity. He didn't communicate with us and made us feel as if though he really didn't want to waiter on us. Some of our friends food came out after others when they had order first and he also over charged us for oysters, although given some us did order than cancel. But seriously don't have to be such a grouch, if you don't lke your job find another. I've also refilled my own glass of water because no one else did. Granted they were busy, but that's expected due to the $0.50 oysters!

We were here for a birthday celebration for my 22 year old daughter who is a seafood lover! We weren't really impressed. Nothing wrong with the place but... it was just OK. The service was a bit slow, the food was average. There was just nothing that really impressed us, until we got the dessert. The dessert that came with the meal was really good.

My husband and went here for our 25th anniversary. The restaurant atmosphere was nice. The food was ok but pricey. The cocktails very pricey and taste like there was no alcohol. Really I find it hard to recommend to anyone. The Waite staff was great.

Love the oysters and crab legs! Pricey unless you're there during happy hour. The Sunday Brunch is like an amazing experience, that everyone needs to try at least once. Also the sushi is made fresh and very good! I basically love this place and think the food and service is awesome! !

This is a super late review since we were there in Oct '14 to celebrate our 13 year anniversary. I dined at their Grand Buffet and let me tell you there was nothing GRAND about it. Before dining here I read some mix reviews about the buffet but thought how can the food really be so bad, it's a Seafood restaurant afterall. I should have listened to those reviews and saved myself +$150. Let me start with the service. Hostess was friendly but expected better service from our waiter. Our waiter took our drink order, came back 5 mins later with my water and had forgotten what my husband ordered. There was only 2 of us, not very difficult to remember a margarita. He never asked if we've been there before so we just went up to the buffet after getting our crab dip app. There was a larger table that got seated shortly after us and our waiter asked them if it was their first time and told them the details about the buffer table. Now the food. Not everything was terrible but I was extremely disappointed with the quality of the food. The main attraction to me were the crab legs. I felt that if I ate a lot of the king crab legs, I would get my money's worth. Sadly the king crab legs were small broken pcs as though they were leftover pcs, perhaps frm the main dining room. There is a guy whose only job responsibility is to give you the king crab legs and cut the prime rib. I gave him an empty plate and he would only give a few pcs at a time. When I asked for more, he would add a few more pcs and did not even fill up the small plate. I eventually gave up. They did not have any Dungeness crab or crab claws as noted on Oct's menu. The snow crab legs were small pcs and grayish color. The whole time I was there, I saw ppl open the cover then close it. I took two pcs to try and they tasted as awful as they look. Royal buffet puts them to shame. I normally like to take food pic but did not feel like it since I did not want to capture the memories but in hindsight I should have so I can show exactly what I mean about the quality. We did not try the oyster so I can not comment. The maki rolls although were replenished a few times appear to be fresh, did not have much flavor. I've had better rolls at Caputo. We eventually made out way to the sweets table and picked a few things. The cupcakes were dry and other sweets were just ok. Shortly after we started eating, our waiter brought us a chocolate cake bc I noted on reservation about our anniversary celebration. Nice gesture but a bit too late. At that pt we could only eat a few bits of cake. He didn't even asked if we wanted a box when we were given our check. Normally we would want to take it home but didn't want to bother asking. There is a recommended tip at bottom of check of 18-20% which is crazy. I don't think he even deserved 10% however we did leave more only with the assumption that the bus boys wb sharing his tip bc we felt that they did work hard and earned it. I thought bc it was a special occasion I would spurge a little and give Shaws a try. This is our first and last time at Shaw's. If you're looking for fresh, succulent crab legs and don't mind an expansive selection, go to Royal Buffet. For the same price of Shaw for 2 ppl, you can afford to bring your kids and get better quality food.

Tonight was my first visit to Shaw's and.. if you love Seafood as I do.. (as long as it's not fishsticks!) this is definitely the place to go! Located in Schaumburg, out by Woodfield Mall, actually in the area known as The Streets of Woodfield you will find Shaw's. My Aunt, her husband and I were seated in the lounge area, in a very comfortable leather booth. And.. this was a great dining experience, appetizers were ordered, shrimp tempura which were divine and oysters, which I will never touch with a 10 foot pole! Tempura was phenominal for sure! These great garlicky biscuits were brought to the table and boy.. were those great, and since there were 3 of us at the table they brought 3 biscuits but.. okay.. we did ask for seconds! The Seafood Menu options are incredible and I ordered a white fish that I had never had before and it came with asparagus and mushrooms which were so good.. My Aunt Arlene got me hooked on these vegetables now which I just love! Thank You Aunt Arlene! But.. now here's where it gets really good.. I had banana's foster for dessert and it was incredible.. My love for banana's reached a new high tonight.. Banana's within a crepe with Ice cream and some great sauce.. Just to think tomorrow I will have just a plain ol banana... Hope I can do it.. So.. to sum up.. Shaw's is one truly great seafood restaurant, with a great somewhat expensive menu which I could not afford unless someone would take me.. And.. my Aunt does this for me alot! And.. Boy, do I like this! Nice Attentive People working at Shaw's too.. I love spending time with my Aunt.. And.. I love seafood and great Seafood Restaurants! Shaw's you have made a great impression on me..

Shaw's is the best place in the Schaumburg area for seafood. I've been here a handful of times now, and have never been disappointed. Their seafood are all fresh and flown in from all over the country daily. My favorite have to be the Seared Yellowfin Tuna Steak. It has a nice crunchy sear on the outside and its buttery soft on the inside, it just melts in your mouth. Its served on top of crispy rice noodles and a ginger-soy vinaigrette which is I can not get enough. Another one of my favorite is their Oyster Bar. They'll have Oyster 1/2 price Happy Hour dialy from 4pm - 6pm I believe. And every so often they'll have $.50 oysters at odd hours and days. You'll have to check their facebook page for when, but its definitely worth it if you're a oyster lover. They are usually pretty fresh. One last note: On my last visit here, they gave my wife and I a complimentary slice of chocolate cake to celebrate our first full week of being married. I made reservations via OpenTable and under the comment box it ask if I'm celebrating anything special. I wrote in that I was celebrating first week of marriage. When we finished our meal, the waiter surprised us with a giant slice of cake. It was a really nice gesture that we did not expect. Besides the food, this is the kind of service and care that keep us coming back.

Im giving it three stars based on price, portion and over seasoning. The food was good, but I have had better and for a better price. My girl and I started off with two Lump crab cakes $16 a piece. They were good, but very small and not worth the price. We also had Oysters Rockefeller. Now this was the highlight of the meal. Nice big Oysters with the perfect amount of cheese and spinach. For our meals I ordered the crab legs and 8 oz lobster tail. I found my meal to be perfectly cooked and very tasty. But for 70 dollars you would hope they gave you little more than two average crab legs and a small tail. My girl ordered the blue cheese crusted filet and lobster tail. She didn't like the cheese, felt it was a bit much. I admit they did over do it. She also didn't like the excessive use of old bay spice on the lobster . I found that on mine it was used perfectly. All and all it was good meal and a good time. But there are alot better places than this. Maybe next time I will stick with places in Chicago

Food is good but really overpriced. Service is good, nothing outstanding. We went there for 50 cents oyester night to get some fresh oysters and appetizers and each person got one drink. only one of us had two drinks. One of the things we ordered was crab cake. $15 for one crab cake with a diameter of around 2 inches diameter. When we split the bill, it came out to be $40 per person..... I dont think what we had was worth $40 so I dont think I will be back anytime soon. Maybe later. Maybe.

My fiancé and I have been to Shaw's on numerous occasions. In the past, we have loved coming here because I am gluten intolerant and they are very gluten free friendly while also having a great "regular" menu that he can enjoy. The food is good and normally service is spot on. We decided it would be the perfect place to go for valentine's day dinner. However, we were both really turned off because of our experience tonight. First of all, when we made our reservation they told us 9:30 but when we arrived at 9:27 they informed us it was at 9:15. Nothing like an uncomfortable start to the evening. The biggest thing was service was horrible and unlike any other experience we have had here. There was a large group seated across from us and our server focused only on them. He continuously checked on them and went out of his way to make sure their dining experience was superb (as he should) while walking past our table numerous occasions without acknowledging us. It was so blatant that even while shaking our Mai tais, he had his back to us and ignored us and continued to talk to them. Meanwhile, the bus boy checked on us even offering to get us a dessert menu and suggesting recommendations. There were a few times that had we not been awkwardly waiting, we would have ordered more drinks and dessert. The Schaumburg restaurant scene is competitive and I do not see the point in spending a lot of money for poor service when there are restaurants within walking distance with service that is outstanding.

Easily 5 stars for the Sunday brunch. My husband and I celebrated our 7th anniversary this past Sunday and we treated ourselves and the kids to Shaw's. We knew it would be fantastic because we've been to brunch at Shaw's Chicago, and while there were differences in menus between the two locations, the brunch in Schaumburg offers just as spectacular a spread as Chicago's. We made reservations via OpenTable (easy-peasy and so convenient) for 12:30pm. We arrived a little early and it was busy, but they had our table ready and waiting for us. We were seated on the side of the more formal dining area near the hot menu selections in one of the very comfortable half-circle booths. My faves here: Beef Tenderloin - (I requested it medium rare and it was perfectly prepared) Steamed Alaskan King Crab (I personally prefer crab hot over cold) Haddock - crusted and served over spinach Lobster Brie Mac n Cheese (chunks of lobster!) Rita's scrambled eggs...they were light and airy, almost like they were whipped. Crab Cakes (no filler here, it's all crab) That amazing Caramelized Bacon Cold menu items were in the Oyster bars...Standouts for me: Seafood deviled eggs Cold shrimp cocktail...generously sized and delicious We pretty much tried everything at the dessert table, but if I had to, I'd give Chicago the edge on dessert. While the tarts, chocolate strawberries, candies and other pastries were really good here...Shaw's Chicago has a fun spin on their dessert table (with lots of candy options, inc cotton candy, in addition to pastries/cakes/tarts)...but no complaints here. I enjoyed the key lime tart the most and a close second was the chocolate strata. Our server was attentive and never intrusive...and it was bussed seamlessly (I hardly noticed them), while our waters were always full. I did have a cup of the delicious coffee, which I swear is better sometimes than in my fave coffee houses, and my husband had one of their trademark Bloody Mary's (complete with celery stalk and shrimp). The crowd was mixed...we happened to be seated next to a table (15-20 some people) who was celebrating a birthday, but there were other families near us in the dining room, along with couples. Some were dressed casual, some casual-chic (as we were), and others in their Sunday best. It was polished and classy, without being overwhelming (and quite suitable for us to bring the two kids...bonus being that kids 12 and under are free). We loved this dining room with the comfy red booths, and fun art deco spin. We love our brunches and I have to give it to Shaw's for delivering one of the best seafood brunches in the area. Wish we could celebrate like this every Sunday and we're looking forward to our next visit.

Shaws always has excellent fresh seafood. Through Yelp was able to get a Maki Tuna Sushi appetizer. Most of us had the seafood and some had the filet along with a seafood dish. Wine list could be a little better. Not a really good selection. They have 2 bars, one on each side of the entrance. The staff was friendly and quite attentive. Food was well prepared and served promptly.

So Shaw's gets 5 stars due to the fabulous customer service we received when we dined there. I'm not usually a name dropper but I have to shout out our waiter Marcin and Debbie!! This was my first visit and I had wanted to dine in the fancy side..... There are like 3 restaurants in one at Shaw's. One is a reservation, white table clothes, kinda dressy look, one is a very casual seat yourself, have a beer and the last is a sushi bar. The coolest thing is they all serve the exact same things with a different setting! I love the concept! Well we were too early for the fancy side that I wanted to sit on so we headed to the casual side. Our waiter Marcin was very sweet and attentive. We ordered drinks, appetizer and 2 meals. I headed upstairs to wash my hands where I found 2 additional dining rooms. One was a party and the other was a private seafood buffet. I made it my business to inquire at the hostess desk when I came back down. I was met by Deb whom I explained that we were not from the area and no one told us about the seafood buffet. She showed me the menu but informed me that it was booked that night. With a long face, I headed back to the table where I told my coworker about the buffet. Well Marcin overheard our conversation and went to speak to Deb and some how some way those 2 got us in upstairs!!! The buffet was about 25 tables, very intimate setting. Included King crab, snow crab, shrimp, an array of seafood appetizers and special seafood dishes in addition to beef tenderloin. Everything was delicious and fresh. The servers were very professional and the customer service was astounding!! I never had to ask for anything! It's like someone was standing by reading my mind bringing water and fresh drinks every it crossed my mind. Sorry that this review was so long but I had a great experience at Shaw's and I'm trying to go back before I go home!!

So much anticipation to eat at Shaw's....what a waste! The Easter Buffet was horrible. How can you call it an oyster bar when you only have 2 types of oysters?!?! The mashed potatoes tasted like they came from a box. The beef was all medium or rare. Red Lobster had better shrimp then this place. The best part of dinner.....the packaged M&M's at the "dessert table".

Also would have gave it a 5 if it wasn't for the hostess. There are 2 desks in the front, no one was at the seating desk and there was a young woman at the other desk, so me my wife and 2 kids patiently waited for her to finish doodling as I looked left to see that the guy at the seating desk return and grab groups of people to be seated that showed up after us thanks to the lady not saying anything to us. Good thing my toddler and infant child weren't in a bad mood or she would have infuriated me. It was 1/2 off oyster night so we got 3 dozen oysters, lobster roll and the calamari. The calamari was below average, but didn't stop me from finishing the plate. The oysters were great and the lobster roll was worth the $20 price tag.

I was invited back to Shaw's after management promised the issues I encountered would be rectified. I still have to see how the weekly oyster hour has changed but my family and I dined here on 7/21 for their Sunday Brunch Buffet. This update is for the brunch buffet. This was my third time attending their brunch and even though they changed a few things I still consider it a great deal and would recommend it to others. The food is fantastic and they were prompt when more food was needed. Check their website for the food they offer, there's a bit of everything. I've rated the brunch 4 stars and certainly recommend it but a couple things kept me from rating higher. They made a few alterations to the king crab they offer, going from pre-cut medallion shapes cut horizontally from the thicker part of the legs to now providing the other portions of the legs with a starter cut going vertically. This is understandable, the meat is still great and you can't expect a restaurant to offer THAT big of a bargain without taking a hit. Another change is they no longer tell you to go to the bar for them to customize your Bloody Mary. That's a shame because I loved that, you can have it made perfectly to your liking. Instead they now give you a beer side car which isn't bad. Lastly, the cold items have been moved to the opposite side of the restaurant off in the bar area. I personally have one cold plate to start and that's it but others may not like having to walk back and forth. My 'complaints' are minimal are mostly due to changes from their 3rd week of offering the brunch buffet so they were technically experimenting and haven't settled into their groove yet. If Yelp allowed half stars then this would be 4 1/2 stars easy. If you want a great bargain of a feast with plenty of dishes to keep you full until the next day, with quality in mind, then check out Shaw's.

Christmas eve Crab Buffet, amazing! The dessert bar is worth $20 itself. The mini crab cakes were great. I'm glad they were mini so I didn't fill up on them. Fresh shucked oysters I preferred the Pacific ones, and the king crab legs were delicious. This is a place that may be held out for special occasions, being as it is $55/person. Ensure you make a reservation, walk in and a table ready for you. Much better than waiting until they are ready for you. If you are a crab fan, this place is for you. This is only for the upstairs buffet. They also have regular dining downstairs.

Went for the brunch and it was great! But holy cow was it expensive!!! Be prepared to spend $70 a person for breakfast/lunch. Yea. BUT, it was really darn good, ha. Made to order omelettes with crab, sushi crab legs, lobster bisque etc. The lobster pasta was awesome but believe it or not the best thing we had was the bacon! It was like maple flavored or something and it was incredible. Overall, very good but won't be going back unless I have a gift card. Can never find a deal for it either.

Great fancy place for a date if you don't care about how much you are going to spend. I took the lady her for date night. I got the crab legs, she got the "some kind of fish". The crab legs were great and the "some kind of fish" was as good as I remember. Afterwards, we went to see Bert Kreisher at the the Improv. It was a great night.

Ate here on Christmas Eve. We began with cocktails and they were perfect. Service was efficient and friendly. Started with Oysters and calamari. The oysters were as fresh as could be and the calamari was cooked to perfection. I was still a bit hungry, so I ordered three Stone crab claws. They were cracked for easy eating and the mustard sauce was tasty. Shaws is not cheap by any stretch, so if your looking for a bargain go somewhere else. We had known this coming in, so were prepared. Two of us had fish entrees and both were excellent and two of us had the Alaskan King Crab which was excellent. I know many reviewers want to compare Shaws to Red Lobster or even Chins. Apples and oranges....first, the quality here is far superior to Red Lobster. I like my fish fresh and RL is not fresh...only frozen. And Chins, while excellent at times, is a whole different atmosphere. Very casual and with a lot of Asian influence. Last year we ate at Shaws Grand Crab Buffet for Christmas Eve and have to say I choose the dining room hands down for my preference. I say if you want quality seafood and crab, which is going to cost you in the Midwest, prepare to enjoy yourself at Shaws. One side note, we have also dined at Joes Stone Crab for X-Mas Eve in the past and the quality and service between both Shaws and Joes are very comparable but a much better value at Shaws. Enjoy!

Tonight was my first experience dining at this restaurant and I will definitely be back. I ordered the Parmesan Crusted Halibut with a side of Wild Mushrooms and it was so delicious! The fish was cooked to perfection with clarified butter, lemon, and capers and went perfectly with the garlicky mushrooms! My friend ordered a seafood trio that included shrimp, scallops, and a crab cake with a house made dipping sauce. She said it was so delicious and devoured the entire dish! I highly recommend sitting in the dining room if you want a classier experience, although the bar is quite nice as well.

Food was excellent!!! Service was terrible!!! Daytime female bartender was rude... Real annoyed with taking drink orders. No personality at all. You would think when you indicate you are from out of town and have had great experiences at the Chicago Shaw's, they would try just a little bit.... Again... Great food .. But for a $90 lunch i would expect someone to be somewhat pleasant!! Go to Shaw's.. Just not this one!!!

Shaw's is easily the BEST oyster house in the Chicagoland area! When you hoist one of their Wellfleet oysters, you feel as though you have taken a mini-vacation to Cape Cod! And if you want the perfect cocktail to accompany your seafood, Mr. Marcos, behind the bar, is as brilliant a martini mixologist as you will find. The waitstaff, including both Marios (yes, there are two), are intelligent, knowledgable, and always friendly. I don't give out 5 stars often, but Shaw's deserves every one of them!

From the looks of the huge crowds, lines and the fact that the hostess was saying that they were taking 9pm reservations when it was 7pm at the time on the Saturday before Valentine's tells me that this place is quite the hit in town. I was lucky to have the boyfriend take me here that weekend and being a smart man that he was, he called in advance and made a reservation so we didn't have to wait too long. I haven't been here before but I could tell that this place gets a lot of business and it's probably in your best interest to reserve a table even when it's not the holidays. The atmosphere was a bit upscale that night. Most people were dressed up: women in black dresses and heels and some men in dress shirts. I almost felt a little under-dressed for the occasion. Nevertheless, the service was quite nice. They refilled our water often and let us take our time in putting in our order. The warm bread they served prior to dinner was delicious. They had those varieties of white and chocolate bread. I ordered the Shaw's Seasonal Combo with 3 tender scallops, 3 grilled shrimp, 1 perfect crab cake, shrimp rice pilaf, and cream spinach on the side with lemon and their special kind of tatar sauce. It was possibly the best crab cake I've ever tasted. You could really taste the crab meat, it was a decent size crab cake (not the kind that looks like a crab "pinch") and it was seasoned really well. I would definitely go back here just for the crab cake. The boyfriend ordered the Alaskan Salmon with Teriyaki glaze and it was delicious cooked to medium rare perfection with a side of mash potatoes and bok choy. All I can say is following this meal, every other restaurant I went to that had seafood and crab cakes on the menu, I ordered and it has not been the same. Shaw's has the best cakes that I've experienced. It's not a place that my pockets can afford to dine to very often but I would definitely come back here for special occasions.

the good: good food, I had the halibut.. it was succulent. The stone crab claws were also good, but they better be for $8 each. The bad: too pricey. 3 people and no one had the crabs or lobster and it was close to $200. When i made the reservation, i had noted that it was a bday celebration. They of course, never told the waiter so that never happened. To conclude: great seafood but be prepared to pay, average service for the price point is noticed and disappointing, you could go to Maggianos next door and pay half the price and get better service. Most of the front staff and waiters were just meh to be there, obviously didn't care. update: one of the higher ups called me personally, he also gave me generous gift certificates. so, they tried in the end.

I have been going to Shaw's for at least 20 years. I hate to give them one star but I am so upset at the changes to the oyster hour. As a Lettuce Entertain You member I knew they had changed the time of oyster hour (it use to be 3-6 and now it is 4-6), I figured I could deal with that change. So I go there on my birthday 5/29 only to find out that they now only have two kinds of oysters included in oyster hour. But my bigger issue is that the spicy tuna is no long part of the discounted oyster hour. I was mad but had already ordered a drink so I figured we could have oysters. I go to tab out and give them my birthday coupon and the guy takes it and tabs me out. In previous years (and yes I have had at least five birthdays at Shaw's) I have always been offered a dessert. So now between the oyster hour, sushi and poor customer service I am considering not going back.

My wife and I have been here many times but we were disappointed with our recent lunch experience. We both ordered Crab cakes which in the past have been excellent. These were not. They no longer use lump crab and the crab cakes were composed of stringy somewhat dry crab meat. They menu lists the crab cakes as "Maryland Style" so perhaps they have changed the recipe and are using cheaper ingredients. Never the less it ain't what it used to be. Next time we'll have something else.

I had heard about the Grand seafood buffet at the Shaw's in Schaumburg several times off the website and also from friends in the burbs. As the original is down town I didn't really think to travel out to the suburbs to try this. I however received a specific gift certificate for the buffet and thought oh well what the heck let's give it a try. Man... talk about an extravaganza of seafood! I wasn't sure what to expect so we drove out and hit this place for an early dinner... we are talking suburban 6PM... It was outstanding... dungeness crab (which I probably ate three of), king crab (ate several lbs), crab claws, chilled lobster claws, chilled jumbo shrimp, fried shrimp, crab cakes, oysters, sushi, lobster bisque, snow crab, prime rib, and to top it off???? Whole main lobsters. I made a complete pig of myself and nearly ate myself into a coma. It's $56 per person and I have to say it was well worth the trip out to the location. Not too often I trek from the city out to the burbs for a dinner but I would do this again once I recover in a few months. Only issue I have with the place is that the dinner is held up in a room I assume is for catering. Not terrible but they really need to replace the ceiling as it's showing a lot of water leaks for a place that is a nice restaurant and not that old. Seems like a minor fix that really distracts from the place. Service was solid, food was fresh and replaced over and over again. Desert selection was even pretty darn good and many times these suffer from sitting out, they maintain a small amount and refresh often.

Met a friend here recently for Sunday brunch. We were seated in the bar area, which was great for us while we were eating, as it wasnt as noisy with children (bless their little hearts) as the main dining room. Since the main buffet is located in the main dining room, this means that we were carrying our plates through the foyer back to our booth in the Oyster Bar. That isnt perhaps the best set up, but it didnt bother me so so much on this particular day. There are some raw bar items, sushi rolls, and salad in the Oyster Bar that are part of the buffet, so I suppose folks from the dining room have to do the same thing. The food was delicious and the service and ambience were nice as well. Will definitely return to this location if I am in the area.

I love shaws especially when im being treated to it. Stopped by the one by woodfield mall cause my grandma was starving. The food is always enjoyable but being a city girl it pisses me off that the unlimited king crab and the specials from the text club are only available at this location & not the one downtown :-(

This review is for the Higgins Road location - I've visited Shaw in downtown Chicago had a phenomenal experience. We were here for a quick Friday night dinner before I had to head to work. We were miraculously able to squeeze into the bar at a table for 2 with no wait. Score, we thought! The entire mood was ruined when I was eating my soup and came across a 1/4" piece of metal in my soup, that had actually made it's way into my mouth before I discovered it. Our waiter was notified, and management responded promptly and comped my soup and a provided a complimentary drink. The rest of the night was OK for my husband, but I just couldn't get over how it felt to come across that in my food, and it spoiled the experience for me. I hope it doesn't happen again, but either way I will probably be less enthusiastic about coming to this location again.

Great service attentive but not overbearing. Appetizers were calamari - good not greasy and oysters Rockefeller - a little too much spinach for my taste but were good otherwise. Florida grouper for me - was delish, Hubby had seared tuna - yummy, guest had gumbo and seafood pasta which he gobbled right up. Nice atmosphere for conversation, had a nice King estate pinot gris with dinner and espresso for dessert. Would go back.

Great lunch while in town for a quick trip. Enjoyed dining with my buddy Paul in the more casual side of Shaw's with the sushi bar. Great space with television monitors, high celings and really cool decor. We shared a cold shellfish platter which had very fresh seafood but the portion was on the small side (ordered for two people). I then had a spicy tuna roll that was more like a tuna roll. A couple strips of tuna, not chopped like typically served in a Japanese restaurant, and not spicy. It was a bit skimpy, but very tasty. I like fresh fish and this place has it. I also like the atmosphere. Don't think this place is any bargain but a nice treat.

Attended a dinner function in one of the upstairs banquet rooms. I was hoping for a nice evening since they are a nice restaurant but I was very underwhelmed. It was a 4 course meal ($55 Normandie) with a variety of choices but all the food came out cold. Our table never got one of the appetizers, and even after it being brought to the server's attention, nothing. The mashed potatoes were very salty so be aware. Then it was time for dessert... Which took forever... After waiting over 45 min. I went out to look for the servers to just get the dessert to go. To my surprise the desserts were just sitting out in the hallway... When I found the servers they seemed overwhelmed, even though there were an adequate number to serve our party. Also the partition between the banquet rooms are thin, so it was hard to listen to our speaker since there was a rowdy group next door. The room was cold too, I had to wear my winter jacket through the whole evening. Overall I would NEVER host an event there, I would not want my guests having the experience that I had. UPDATE: The owner of the restaurant sent me a private message in response to my review. He seemed to care to address the issues to improve the restaurant. Maybe the night I went was an off night, or maybe they do have issues that they need to iron out, but one thing is for sure, they have good customer service/service recovery in place.

I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, I left very disappointed. My BF and I went on a Thursday evening and we were seated promptly at our 7:15 reservation. The waitress was immediately there to take our drink orders and my BF ordered a dirty martini and requested Effen vodka, which she reported they had in stock. She returned with an cucumber vodka martini made with olive juice. We flagged her back and explained that he did not order Effen cucumber vodka, just regular Effen. She was hugely confused and asked if he would prefer Effen black cherry vodka??? Uh no. Anyway, she brought back a correctly made Grey Goose vodka dirty martini and it was delicious. We ordered the dozen oyster sampler and this was brought quickly by a busboy. No explanation of which oysters were which, and we found this disappointing since we love trying new oysters and it would have been nice to know if the ones we liked were east or west coast oysters. The oysters were really, really good though so we let it go. I ordered the lobster roll and my BF had some sort of combo plate with fish and a filet. Our entrees were meh. I cannot understand how this restaurant is so pricey when the food is average and the other diners were...well....in jeans and baseball caps. Luckily, we had $100 in gift cards and our bill was $168. The next time I feel like dropping $200 on dinner, I will most certainly NOT be going here and instead will go to a fancy seafood place in the city where the food will be better and the lighting dim and the patrons in nice clothing.

I went for their Sunday brunch buffet because I heard good things about it, that they offered king crab legs. After my disappointing time at Bob Chinn's, I was looking for a place that was better value. This place was better. Their cold snow crab legs were lackluster, pale and small, but their king crab legs were worth the $48 buffet fee. Besides the main attraction of king crab legs, they had a cheesy lobster mac & cheese, though they were extremely stingy with the lobster meat. Nice lobster bisque, French toast with various toppings available, fresh oysters though kinda small in size. Their glazed sweet bacon was delicious! Also, their dessert bar scored high marks with me, especially their peanut butter cookie sandwiches. Those just melted in my mouth; they were one of the best pb cookies that I've had. Conclusion - was nice to try, but because of my budget, I'd rather get dinner at Vie rather than spending $48/person before tip for brunch here.

Adding an extra star after revisiting again for Brunch. Shaws now has brunch every Sunday morning for $52 per person over 12 years old. Kids are free (but there is no kids station anymore). It's a few dollars more than last year. Is it worth the price? At 10 am, there were very few people there, but it definitely got busier as the morning went on. I'm still not 100% convinced that it's worth the price unless money is burning a hole in your pocket, but for special occasions, I think it's worth a look, especially if seafood is what you are looking for. I re-tried a lot of the things that I didn't like the first time. Here are my observations: Lobster bisque - again, salty and peppery. I guess this is just how they make their bisque. I was not a fan because the spice made me not taste anything, but the hubby said it was fine. King crab legs - they serve the claws, fingers, and knuckles along with a few scant pieces of leg now. However, this was done fine. Not rubbery, not overcooked. Good job preparing this star attraction. Just wish there were more "good" pieces instead of having to pick cartilage out of the knuckle pieces. Beef tenderloin - they no longer have prime rib. In its place, they have a beef tenderloin roast. I asked for medium rare so they cut from the middle of the roast. It was medium - mostly brown with slightly pink in the middle. Being the tenderloin, it still tasted fine and wasn't too chewy, but I think they are way off in its execution for a seafood/steak establishment. For the foods that I liked the first time, they still executed these very well. Lox station - again, amazing. Lox was very nicely prepared. Generous amounts of the chive cream cheese, thinly sliced cucumbers, tomatoes, etc. They moved the flatbread crackers to the other side of the cold bar, but these were still the carb of choice for me to go with the lox. Delicious. Omelet - I did order this, but the kiddo did. He said it was "fine" and only ate 2/3 of it, compared to the 2 whole omelets he ate last time. Strata dessert - still very good, although I feel like it had a little more "mousse" than other ingredients than last time which made it little bit less balanced. New things I tried this time around: Lobster pasta - lobster itself was a little chewy, but the smaller pieces along with the pasta was quite good. Liked the spinach in it as well. Chocolate covered strawberries - love the chocolate they used on this. Seems like somewhere between a milk and dark chocolate, but complimented the strawberries well. Eggs Benedict - perfectly executed. Yolk was done easy, just enough Canadian bacon, bread, sauce. I would eat an entire tray of these if I could. My only complaint is that they didn't refill this once it was out. I'm sure they did eventually, but just not when I went back to get seconds. Waffles - these were very good. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. You can dress it however you like with whipped butter, whipped cream, maple syrup, bananas foster topping, etc. Fried shrimp - very overdone. I would skip this and go for the shrimp cocktail instead. I did not eat the raw Oysters this time. They also got rid of the children's station altogether, which was a little disappointing. While I understand space is limited, it still would have been nice to have few small things for the kids as there were lots of families dining there. My son was basically limited to the breakfast foods (bacon, eggs, waffles), so shortly after we got home, he asked for lunch a couple hours after brunch. Also our service was not the best. Our non-alcoholic beverages were empty and he never refilled our glasses despite him seeing and removing the empty glasses. I had to ask him for refills. Since Shaws improved a few of the issues from last time (king crab legs, having everything listed from the menu, switching from prime rib to tenderloin (despite the non-perfect execution), etc), they still didn't get everything right. When you're charging now excess of $50 per person, you have to get everything right. They only get 4 stars from me.

I have a lot of respect for people that care about their business. The Manager of Shaw's contacted me in regards to my review. We discussed what I was unhappy about and he even asked what me my opinions on what I think they could do to improve... I was FLOORED, it's very rare that I come across businesses that utilize these review sites, even rarer are those businesses that contact unhappy guests and try to see how they can improve. Quite honestly I was humbled that they did contact me about my review and even more so, I was a bit embarrassed because he was SO NICE and yet there I was talking to him as he was looking at all the negativity in my review. But we chatted for awhile and he invited me back for a second chance and most definitely will. For someone to go as far as he did and have a conversation with me on how they can improve, it was impressive. See you in March! :)

I heard many good things about this place so we decided to have our Xmas Eve dinner here. I'm absolutely love seafood and therefore I was super excited to try out a new seafood restaurant. I went there with high expectations and left in disappointment :( For appetizers, we ordred the shrimp cocktail and steamed clams. I was not impressed with the 6 pieces of jumbo shrimps as I've had better quality shrimps at other restaurants. The clams were tasty but was drenched in way too much butter. I would've preferred a more garlic white wine-based sauce. For the main entrees, we ordered the gumbo soup which the waiter recommended as their specialty, followed by the popular seafood platter. Let me start off by saying that the gumbo soup was anything but special. The soup consisted of good chunks of seafood pieces, however it was overly salty I was not able to enjoy it. The seafood platter came with a few pieces of seared scallops, a good sized crab cake and 3 garlic shrimps. Again, everything(except the crab cake) was overpowered by the amount of butter used. I could barely taste the seafood itself. The crab cake was seasoned well and tasty. However, the batter I thought was a bit overcooked. I am curious to come back and try their oyster bar but will probably skip the main dining and go elsewhere.

Well, we came here totally spontaneously. We were in the area for some shopping, and despite many Yelp queries, we really couldn't come up with a better option. While the service was good, the food was just average for the price. We all did drinks, which were generally good if not the strongest. I did blackened tilapia, while others did the crab legs and filet mignon. The tilapia was fine if unexceptional- it wasn't terribly seasoned, so as it came it wasn't really impactful. A little salt brought it up to snuff, but I'm fairly sure my adhoc cooking has produced better. The crab legs were definitely the best, with everyone going to town on a couple pieces (and making a mess!) and definitely the reason to come here. If you're into crab legs, check it out, but if you have high standards from the coasts or are looking for a bargain, there are better places for dinner.

The Sunday Brunch here is awesome. I actually came here for a Thanksgiving brunch, which is the same spread of food as the regular brunch, minus some Thanksgiving fixins. There's tons of food to choose from, with raw oysters, king crab legs, pasta, soup, and a boatload of other options. But the best thing are the King Crab bites. Perfect bite-size pieces of juicy, meaty, crabby goodness. The shell is quartered off, so just pop the meat out of the shell and eat. The buffet is $45 per person, but that's well worth if for all the fresh seafood. The dessert table alone is huge. Plus there's plenty of comfy booth seating and great service. I definitely want to go back for the make-your-own Bloody Mary.

I'm a huge seafood lover and although I felt the food was decent, service was decent and the restaurant was on the nicer side, I felt this place was overpriced. We had the calamari to start off. I was expecting better tasting calamari but it had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. The Parmesan Haddock in a lemon butter sauce was delicious. We also had the seafood platter which came with butter garlic and lemon butter sauce on the side. That dish was just "ok" in my opinion. I probably won't be back to this place as I walked away a bit disappointed.

We went to get 50¢ oysters on Friday night. It was half an hour wait for 3ppl..it was totally worth the wait. We had 8 dozens total. It was decent... We didn't get sick from it so we will Def go back and try it out again!

We were actually visiting for the second time to this location because of the first time we had a bad experience that my father wrote to the owner about. This time we tried it out. We had a reservation at 5:30 but arrived hungry at 5:00 and got seated right away. It was early enough that there wasn't a crowd. Our server was FANTASTIC and I wish I knew his name to give him kudos. I ordered some oysters and there was something in one of them (knowing its raw I didn't want to complain) but the server happily replaced it. When it was time to order I was deciding between scallops and softshell crab. The waiter offered that he could do a combination for me. The tomatoes on the side had a vinaigrette of sorts on them and it was fantastic! We had a $75 gift card and ended up spending about $200 overall for 3 people so this isn't a cheap spot, but was worth the total cost and the experience, company, and service, were all top notch this time.

I am going to preface this review with this fact: I came here in a large group for a business lunch with my company, so my experience was probably a bit different than someone who came on a date or for dinner in a small group. First off, this place is really big. There's lots of seating, and it looks like they have rooms you can rent out for parties and such. It's a little dark inside (probably to set the romantic mood), and has a very classy feel to it. There is light jazz music in the background. It's a very nice place to come on a date or a nice lunch/dinner. We were seated promptly. The service was excellent - they checked on us multiple times and filled our water glasses multiple times as well. The tables were bussed quickly when we were finished eating, and overall it was very professional. Quite impressive! There is a lot to choose from on the menu, and of course most of it is seafood. There are a few other things to choose from as well. It also looks like they have a nice wine selection as well. I wasn't looking to spend a lot of money (it wasn't really an optional business lunch), and this is not the place to come if you want to be cheap. I'm not say that as a bad thing, it's just a fact. You do get a great quality meal, service, and atmosphere that is well worth the cash. However, I didn't want to spend a lot of money so my friend and I split a burger. They literally split everything in half for us on separate plates (awesome!), and everything tasted great. Parking in this area is horrible - they do have valet but I hate paying for it personally. I have also heard they get very busy at night, so make a reservation. Again, this is a great place to come on a fancy date where you are looking to spend some decent cash for a great meal.

My mom and I came to Shaw's Crab House for lunch and sat on the more casual side near the bar. We both ordered the New England Lobster Roll, and it was a good thing because neither of us was looking to share! This sandwich was delicious! Surprisingly, we found room for dessert. The dessert platter is a great way to try a little bit of everything- satisfying both tart and chocolate fixes!

Fantastic. We booked our reservation in open table. We were greeted and sat promptly even though we arrived early. The atmosphere is very comfortable. We had a couple sushi rolls to start. I wouldn't recommend the sushi. It's average at best. The entrees however, amazing! I had the garlic shrimp. It's a great size portion and very tasty. My boyfriend had the 3 course king crab meal and he said it was worth every bite. The service was great. The staff was very attentive.

I don't know what's happened to this place but I was extremely disappointed. I ordered the clam chowder to go and I am not exaggerating when I say the bowl was filled half way and it was pure milk/cream base. There were these micro diced potatoes and barely any seafood. I kept taking my spoon and swishing through the milky soup to find nothing. I don't know if they gave me the bottom of the pot (or the top without stirring it) but for $9 this is outrageous. I could have bought a can of Campbell's Chunky New England Chowder for a third of the price. To top it off, they gave me this super cheap utensil set that you'd get from Popeye's chicken or something. Only thing missing was the spork. They threw in 4 slices of sour dough bread so I can sop of the milk. Boooooo Shaw's. Boooooo!!!!!!
