I have fond midnight memories of this place in high school. Loved the fries and milkshakes. That said, the most memorable night was when a particular waitress ignored our table for well over a half hour (the place was near empty). She was rude and obnoxious. We asked for something politely, she replied with a snotty remark. I remember my buddy leaving her a 2 cent tip stuffed in the cheese oozing out from what remained of the cheese fries. I miss high school.

The place is my first experience with a Steak and Shake chain. It's a dump compared to the ones I've been to elswhere. I don't particuliarly like the fires (shoestring). The burgers are okay, better than McDonalds. The chili 3 way and 5 way are okay, not as good as Skyline.

There is little I miss about growing up in the Midwest (sorry current Midwesterner's), but this place I do. There is nothing that compares to the good 'ol fashioned grub that I used to injest while dining at Steak 'n Shake; best at the midnight hour. The shakes are 'bar none', and delicate thin fries are like no other. Purely majestic! Because I am a Cali girl now and refrain from eating red meat, I cannot comment on the steakburgers, but do have spotty memories of loving them as a kid. I still remember my pappa having that oily bowl of chilli here, and although I was always intrigued, I never fancied to try one. Still, this place is iconic and has a beautiful history attached. Take it for what it is, and you'll enjoy the 'experience', as opposed not enjoying this time capsule so rich in tradition that it's know for just because you want it to be updated into a current day hip joint to hang out at. It's not, and will never be that in your wildest dreams, my fellow steak 'n shake lovers!!

One of the worst SnS experiences. Took TWO HOURS to get in and out of the place and no one cared about anything they were doing. Not to mention there were 8 employees and only 12 customers. At least dirty Sanchez comp'd us some cheese fries.

No thanks! Came here for some late night grub after a long day at a wedding. It took 90 minutes to eat here...Yes I said 90 minutes. Multiple tables that came in after us ate and left before our food was even brought to us. Not good service and the food was well...the same.

Came here to eat on a Sunday night around dinner time. It was pretty busy so you'd expect there to be more than two waitresses scheduled to work. Service was obviously slow, but I was understanding. Food was ok. I've had better at other steak n shakes. After we paid, we ordered a chocolate shake to go and waited about 20 minutes. While waiting, I noticed the woman in charge of making burgers not wearing any gloves! I immediately felt sick as I watched her pick up cheese and other ingredients with her bare hands. I regret eating at this location and will definitely never be coming back. Ew. Ew. Ew.

Went through the drive thru and got the taco salad for the first time. I was very impressed how big it was for $3.99. The lettuce was crisp and the taco meat wasnt too greasy or overpowering with spice. I liked all the shredded taco chips on top with the flavorful ranch, i guess is what it was, drizzled on the top. This is something i will get again. Food was prepared quickly and i was out of there in about 5 mins.

If you feel the craving for a Midwest smashed burger- and you're not close to any of the locally owned joints, this Midwestern chain will fill the need. The Midwest "Smashed Burger" (Not to be confused with the chain "SmashBurger") is a small burger, pounded thin onto a hot grill, and allowed to cook to a thin crispy burger. You gotta have one! (Or two, three??)

I ate here around 11pm, so I expect my experience had more to do with that than the actual restaurant. However, the drive-through took an above average amount of time to process my order even though there was only one other person in the line. The fries were luke warm at best and a touch stale tasting. On the plus side, the burger was exactly what you'd expect from a Steak 'n Shake and the reason I will probably eat here again... just not so late.

Do people really whine about service at a 24 hour burger place? Really? This place does not exist before 1AM, okay. If you are there earlier, reap your just desserts. If you're there super late, expect the shitty service, overpriced greasy sub-par food, and ENJOY it! I know I do! (I'd recommend against this location, as really all the others are better and less....yeah.)

Why is this place even a place? Never in my wildest dreams would I have gone there, but my 95 year old Grandmother really wanted to take me there, so what can I say? She's 95 she can eat whatever she wants to in my opinion. It was...well it wasn't White Castle. The floors were slushy, but there was no snow. Hmmm Nothing on either of our plates should have been thought of as food. Amazing what we can talk ourselves into beleiveing. What was important was my Grandma, bless her heart, was so happy to be having her Strawberry Shake with me and that made me happy.
