Had a late lunch yesterday with the hubby and 2 kids and it was excellent. Our server, angel, was awesome! Will be back anytime we are in the area and will request his section if he is available.

I know this is a chain, but I hadn't been to it before I came down here to move back into SIU. We were staying at a hotel in Marion and this was open pretty late and was close by, so we opted for this. It was a really solid choice. The place was packed, but we were seated right away. The decor is nice, and the place was lively without being too loud. We started off with drinks, that we all enjoyed. There were free rolls that were absolutely delicious. We then started out with an appetizer, the tater tot fondue ($7.99). It was so good. How often does one eat tater tots as an adult? It was a big portion of tater tots served with cheddar cheese sauce topped with bacon, green onions, and sour cream. They were a bit hard to eat, because it is very hard to keep a cheese-coated tot on a stick, as it turns out, but it was delicious. It's bacon, cheese and tots- what's not to like. As my entree, I got their "famous" chicken tenders dinner ($10.99). This comes with two sides. I opted for the bacon smashed potatoes and a cup of overloaded potato soup. I swear, I ate more cheese, bacon and potato this meal than is holy but it was delicious. The chicken tenders really were good. The potatoes were a bit thick and gummy, but had good flavor. The soup was a little salty but there was SO much bacon in it that I didn't care. This is a solid place in the same vein as Chili's or Applebee's, but with a better menu. The only reason this review is three stars is the service. While our waitress was very sweet, service was really slow. She was clearly busting her tail, but she was too busy. All the tables suffered. This wasn't helped at all by the table behind us who kept complaining about EVERYTHING and sending everything back. It wasn't the waitress's fault that she was ran so ragged, but it did make our evening drag on nonetheless.

Oh the rolls! That's the main reason to go here. Don't worry about getting full on them before your entree arrives... it's worth it, ha. You can always take the leftovers home with you (or hey, take some of the rolls with you, too). I hadn't been to one in years, but recently tried the one in Marion and was quite pleased. The steak was cooked perfectly (picture added) and our server was awesome. She checked back frequently and took care of our requests quickly. The rest of the food at the table was enjoyed by everyone, too (cajun chicken, french onion soup, a different steak, and nacho appetizer). Yum!

Not all O'Charley's restaurants are the same when it comes to service and food quality. Though I will say any time I've dined at the O'Charley's in Marion, Illinois, the service has been exceptional and the food has been spot on every single time. Tonight was no exception. Our server was attentive, prompt, and personable. Not only that, but when I considered trying something new on the menu, she promptly offered to bring me something else if I tried it and didn't completely like it. No worries, I ordered the Chicken Pot Pie and ate every bite! This is a perfect dish for colder weather. Perfect consistency of tender white chicken meat, fresh carrots and green peas baked in a creamy sauce and covered in a flaky, golden brown crust. Try it and you won't be disappointed.

I honestly don't understand the allure of this place. To me it's just a mediocre restaurant with mediocre food off of its typical menu plus booze. Normally the "plus booze" makes up for a lot of faults, and while I can't really fault this restaurant for much, I have to say that it's main problem is no doubt it's mediocrity. If there was just one special thing here that you couldn't get any where else it would make it way better, but being unable to tell the different between this menu and others from "American food" restaurants just begs for me to give it three stars.

Usually a solid choice, though quite loud. Not great if you wish to have a conversation with your dining companions. Lunch was pleasant. My friend had the California chicken salad, which looked very good. The rolls were good, as always. I could make a meal of just their rolls! I had the lunch special of chicken pie and house salad. They've started making a smaller portion of these for lunch and it's perfect! The pastry on the chicken pie is browned just right and flaky. Chicken breast meat, veggies and a creamy, flavorful gravy complete the dish. The salad was crisp, cold and fresh. Have had the honey drizzled fried chicken breast on previous occasion and it's good, too. The prime rib is hit or miss, unfortunately. Our server, Jess was friendly and attentive.

A good solid choice with wonderful service. After an ordeal of a meal in the area it was nice to eat at a decent and welcoming place.

Slow service, missing the bacon on a club sandwich. Fries were cold/warm and oversalted. Sandwich wash cold/lukewarm. Chicken tendors were hot and delicious. Had to ask for silverware. Waited too long for the check. Not impressed.

Maybe I am California spoiled when it comes to restaurants sometimes but I just didn't really get the hype about this place. The menu doesn't really seem that extensive compared to other chain restaurants. The portions are a good size. Our server was kind of bland, like she wasn't really interested in being at work. And I'm not sure if it was just a mistake but I asked for vinegar and after some time later she brought back worcestershire sauce... at that point I was thinking just forget it. A great redeeming factor however was the free pie on Wednesdays. my aunt loved her peach pie, my cousin loved her caramel pie and oh my gosh the blueberry lemon pie was incredible. I would go just for the pie honestly.

One of our favorite places to eat when in Marion, Always good eating, love the sirloin. Lots of food for the price, and a great place to take kids! Looking forward to our next trip.

To those who stated that this is along the lines of Applebee's and Chili's I just don't see what they are talking about. I went for the first time today with my girlfriend and I had the country fried chicken drizzled in honey and it was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was very nice also and the waitress was super friendly. I have had both Applebee's and Chili's many times before and I can say that this without a shadow of a doubt is way better

So much better than Chili's and Applebees's!! From the outside of this place, it looks very grungy, but I made it my personal goal to try all the restaurants in Southern Illinois before I move. The restaurant was so much better than I thought it would be. The complimentary bread was extremely soft and light (so much better than Olive Garden breadsticks). The twisted chips were crispy and not oily at all. Way better than Harry Caray's. The NY pizza pasta tasted exactly like a pizza. EXACTLY. I like it at first, but the pasta was a little overcooked and there was not enough sauce. The brownie dessert was delicious and sweet and comes in two different sizes. I am definitely coming back because the prices are the same as Chili's, but the quality and selection of food is so much better!

Love O'Charley's and dearly miss it since moving to Northern Illinois. The food was always top notch, rolls moist, hot, and buttery and I can't recall any experiences with bad service. This chain definitely needs to come north!!

Here's my favorites on the menu: 1) Rolls and butter 2) Chicken Harvest Soup Everything else is just a toss-up and gets an A-ok from me, but the rolls and this soup are what keep me coming back.

My first time coming here, it was a pretty busy lunch with valentines day and all. Me and my gf ordered the steak which was good and service was ok we had to wait for utensils and one of the servers dropped a glass of water in front of us. Other than that it was good.

Rolls and caramel pie oh my! Ordered a fantastic under 550 calorie fish meal (will order every time) and then used my calorie savings to eat as many rolls as possible and savor the caramel pie. I always go to an O'Charleys if there is one in the area as I travel.. Will be back for the fish, the rolls and did I say the CARAMEL PIE...yum

I like O'Charley's. It's not my favorite place in town, but it's certainly not the worst. When I do go, I always enjoy my food and the staff has always been super friendly. As far as chicken fingers go, they have the best in town and their french silk pie is pretty amazing.

If you put O'Charleys, Applebees, and Chilis in a magical room where you could do a blind taste test and and restaurant experience, they would be entirely indistinguishable. The three places are, quite literally, the same. This place suffers from the "jack of all trades" problem. They do a little bit of everything OK, but don't do anything well. You'll have a solid meal here, but it won't be particularly good (or bad). They have a few beers, but not a great selection. For any particular type of food, they have a few things, but not a great selection. It's really hard to describe consistent "OK" experiences. It is what it is - OK.

Very inconsistent on service and food quality. I get he impression the bar has no idea how to make their own drinks. I stick with beer. I figure it would be hard to mess hat up.

I agree with Matt that OCharlie's, Applebee's, and Chili's are indistinguishable. But the great thing about formula food places is that you always get the formula. You can go into one of these places anywhere in America and know exactly what you are going to get. On this occasion I had a salad and the Teriyaki Sesame Chicken. It was great! Just exactly what I wanted.

If you've never been there -- run don't walk to the nearest O'Charley's. Especially If you like fish, their fish and chips is WAY better than anything I've had at Red Lobster. Add sweet potato fries and it's the perfect combo. Not greasy at all.

My husband & I ate their last evening and ordered my favorite Southern Pecan Fried Chicken Tender Salad. It was terrible! Now they use crumbs for the pecans and the chicken tasted like old grease. Saw some friends on the way out and they said they were served the worst meal they ever had there. Was something wrong with new staff or what? Our server was great! I told him I knew it wasn't his fault. I won't be needing that salad anymore unless they go back to how it used to be. Darn!!!
