What a great memory; coming here after 20 plus years! Food was great! Order the hot dogs or hamburgers for a great experience. Fries are great too! Check out the fantastic ice cream at oberweis across the street afterwards!

What a fun course!!! Brings me back to being a kid, with all the windmills, and fun kitchy decor.

I came in for a burger, it was ok but really messy and the fries weren't fully cooked. I'm not sure where the red hot ranch rumor came from because the burger here is nowhere near red hot ranch's level. If you're hungry and in the area, I recommend you look elsewhere.

I have been here numerous amount of times to play mini-golf with friends. I always have fun there and the people are nice. Earlier were there and had a different experience. We walk to the stand to grab our putters and pay for a round. I grab a club that fits and the lady told me I couldn't use it because it was too big. Insread of the one that actually fit me, she gave me one a 5 year old would use! I told her it was too short and she got mad about it. Then when we started playing, we were getting dirty looks from her. She was very rude! We will be back but hopefully she won't be working there!!

Back years ago, this stretch of Lincoln Avenue was practically out of the city, because wide streets like McCormick and Lincoln were used like highways before there were the expressways and tollways we know today. And with a few cheesy motels also on Lincoln, you had the semblance of a highway trip while still near home. With the Novelty Miniature Golf amusement next door and those batting cages, you also had the attractions that would lead their hungry clientele to a cheap, roadside shack offering America's favorite fast foods. Entering the small shack is a step back in time. Except for the actual food, everything is as old as the hills, just with a new layer of paint. The most reassuring item on the menu is the French fries, fresh cut from potatoes and with the skins on. The prices are still reasonable, so don't expect too much from the short menu. The new owners also have imitated the west coast In-N-Out burgers to the extent that the beef is fresh ground rather than bought as pre-frozen patties. But if you're hankering for a chili dog or an Italian beef sandwich, better drive on...neither are on the current menu. This is always a dependable stop for a quick soft-serve cone or a shake on that drive back into the city though.

Not a bad spot to find something to do on a slow day. The Bunny Hutch is a bit old and ancient looking, but it's not too bad for an outdoors venue that is 60 years old. The golf course will keep you busy with two seperate courses, but you can't play both with one fare. You pick the course you want to play, which is nice for a bit of variety. The only gripe I had was they charged my four year old daughter adult priced admission. They don't have a child or senior citizen pricing. The food hut wasn't too shabby. They have a charbroil grill and a soft serve ice cream machine. I thought the food was pretty good, but don't be expecting five star dishes. It is what it is for a short order grill. All in all, I was happy with the Bunny Hutch. It's a nice way to spend an hour or two on a lazy day. If it wasn't so hot when I was there, I would have stayed longer.

Bunny Hutch is NOT what it used to be. How traditional was it to play a round at Novelty Golf, then go over to Bunny Hutch for a turtle sundae or one of their other awesome desserts? So....my wife and I went last night for the first time since the renovations...and something just didn't feel right when we went in. The place looked deserted...almost as if it was actually closed down....but no, they were open....only we noticed that they had NO DESSERTS whatsoever other than shakes and a vanilla ice cream cone. We asked just to make sure we weren't missing anything. No sundaes or anything beyond shakes and vanilla cones, we were told. We walked away very disappointed. I mean, for cripes sakes, who playes miniature golf on a hot summer Saturday night only to refresh with.....burgers, hot dogs, etc.???!!! Shame on you, new management, for ruining the place.

Take a nice bong hit and chill the fkc out if you have issues with this place. This is the finest in cheap affordable Chicago summer dining with your best friends who will be stalking you decades later on the facebook. Kiss your secret crushes while you split a hot dog sans ketchup and get 2 straws to dip into your large coke with lots of ice. Its not about the food or service here, but more about the people who surround you and add to the memories which hold up your smile in the tougher times. and if you BYO, be smart about it and do know the popo are on the lookouts...just saying. //tossing meds in the garbage to stop this emo cloud above head.

This place is run down, outdated & just tired looking...totally awesome. Original relics like this from the past are getting hard to come across these days. The mini golf course, the game room & the Bunny Hutch hasn't changed much since I started rolling up in this joint on my gold-flaked Schwinn with banana seat. My kids absolutely love this run down place...and so does Daddy.

The Bunny Hutch has a cute and kitchy exterior. It is very inviting. Every few years I stop in to see if anything has changed. Nope ... the interior is still very drab and depressing. It would take so little to make the place adorable, but it is still the same. A dreary old red-brown paint job and tight uncomfortable booths do not inspire. If the food were good, I'd concede the point and get over it. Well, I ordered a Chicago style hot dog this time around and it was as uninspired as the interior of the Hutch. The bun was soggy and the dog had been cooked to death. I didn't even finish it. I'm sure I will be back in another few years. I still love the exterior and I still dream of the potential that I can see for this place in my little heart of hearts.

Went here for sno-cone, so this review is purely for the sno-cone. They use the crushed ice, not the shaved ice. The kind that loses the flavor because all the syrups falls to the bottom. The girl working the counter knew this, so she gave us a lot of pumps of syrup to compensate. Not many flavors to choose from, no sugar free options. Overall, not good, not bad, just "meh".

The food here is delicious. I've only had the hamburgers. I won't get hamburgers anywhere else. I'm very picky. Everything is made to order. It doesn't get better than this! There is parking next to the building.

We came here for a bite to eat after playing a round of mini golf at Novelty Golf located just behind this place. I have nothing bad to say about it! Obviously it isn't glamorous but there's good food, plenty of seating, free parking and nice employees. I'll definitely be back even if just for an ice cream cone :)

Some time recently I caught an article online that mentioned a collaboration project between the Bunny Hutch proprietors and the owners of Red hot Ranch. It seems that the RHR guys have taken over food production for Bunny Hutch since late 2013. Sounds good on paper and in the lengthy review given on SeriousEats.com , but if you read to the very end, a final statement rung true for my most recent experience. "Full disclosure: unless you live in the area or are curious about the burgers, Red Hot Ranch at the Bunny Hutch is not yet destination-worthy" they said. Definitely, there have been changes to the in & exteriors. Upgrades and updates in many facets of the business and food has taken a turn for better with a nicer presentation and offering of products. They've since dumped some of their well known staples and replaced them with stuff typical to most burger joints. Taste wise, a burger and fries were a mere okay. I could see and taste some better ingredients but once the burger was assembled, something was phooey about the assembly. Grabbing at the burger the first time the bun fell apart in my hands. I'm thinking dude ladled out a heaping mess of relish and water which made everything soggy and gross. The fries were crinkle cut which I usually have a hankering for when fried correctly, however it tasted like stuff just out of the freezer and not given enough time to cook. If you go, make sure dude doesn't commit the felonies I'd just described. Also request your fries well done, which means a little longer in the frier but not darkened. It's nostalgia, for myself and many North-siders. Reminiscent of visits, now decades past, when we'd hit up the batting cages, multiple rounds of novelty golf or slangin' quarters at the Game room. A place to grab a burger and fries before heading home. A nice taste of the char-grilled variety which was a far better tasting burger than what was served at the local BK just a few blocks south of here. Hopefully the dudes manning the counter at the Bunny Hutch experience some noon time "rushes", it's with those experiences that they would get better at slanging burgers and fries. But for now, without it, it's a costly reminder that a better burger is waiting up the street in Lincolnwood at Meatheads burgers and fries.

This place isnt a fun or cute as the name makes it sound. Its just a rundown greasy food shack by a mini golf course. Very mundane.

The restaurant is under new management and vastly improved for the better! As the sign outside the building says, this is now Red Hot Ranch at the Bunny Hutch. You'll find the same great hot dogs, fries and shrimp here plus In-n-Out style burgers, ice cream, etc. Business was lite when I was there for lunch and I hope the neighborhood quickly realizes this isn't the old, dirty water dog Bunny Hutch. I think it can be a great place for kids to hang out and families on a budget to eat quality food without breaking the bank. The interior was clean and repainted and i think once people step inside and see the changes, they'll be coming more often. I spoke with the new owner for a few minutes and it's obvious he cares about the quality of the food and wants this location to succeed. If you haven't been to Red Hot ranch, one of my favorite menu items is the double dog/fries. Get it, you won't be disappointed. And order some of those perfectly fried shhraaammmmps!

The worst ever in everything. Food is awful, batting cage is dangerous, mini golf is beyond run down

Walking into this place I immediately felt like I was on vacation in either the Ozarks or the Dells. Such a time warp but fun. The Hawks game was playing on an old school TV with bunny ears. Behind the counter was a young lil lad of about 12 who was an expert at taking orders, handling the cash and whipping up ice cream concoctions. I ordered what I thought to be a pretty standard banana split and received a GIANT banana split topped with everything standard AND peanut butter cups! Thank goodness I had the bf along to help eat it, even though I did polish off a good portion of it :) Business must be booming because they ran out of fries while we were there, the kids dad was off at Sam's Club restocking. I love little places like this that are clearly run by families. Stop by the Bunny Hutch and help keep this place around for many more years to come!

Double cheeseburger = awesome. And it's a REAL double cheeseburger, a slice of cheese on each patty. Sign on the door says "new management," wasn't sure of a big difference, but I hadn't been here since high school. Awesome spot for an after mini-golf snack!

  • David R.

Come on, this is a crappy hamburger shack. It's dirty and I saw a ten-year-old kid working behind the counter. Of course, it does have a certain charm. They have a 13-inch tv with rabbit ears (ha ha) showing Cubs games, and kids' baseball teams come in here after their games. Plus, you can't beat a delicious chocolate malt milkshake after a round of mini golf at the adjacent Novelty Golf. So, that is a good ol' slice of Americana for you. Every town needs a place like this.

is great times . you need not look for any other place to eat if your in the area of the bunny hutch just stop in and you will not be sorry. lots of great times here and the food no matter what you get is great and just the right price.

I like my food deep fried. And The Bunny Hutch has it all. Cheese and/or bacon available on most items, spicy fries, and delicious shakes. I HIGHLY recommend the Greek Chicken sandwich. I am currently suffering from eating too many cheese sticks so watch yourself---proceed with greasy caution. You can work off some of the goodies at Novelty Golf, right behind The Hutch. Its all good.

I worked at this place in the summer of 2009. it was a quaint summer experience. the food was enjoyable, the hours were good, and the people I worked with were cool. I most often enjoyed the burgers, hot dogs and fries. it reminded me of working at a '50s sock hop.

go here. eat. play mini golf. drink milkshakes and root beer floats. practice batting if you choose. try out the photo booth and the sex game in the game room. keep score. the bunny hutch is connected to the Novelty Golf place, so for me they are one in the same, and everyone should go to both at least 10 times a year. i believe in the white rabbit. just go. it's truly a piece of american kitsch - timeless.

I've been getting meals at the Bunny Hutch since I was 5 or 6 or something. It was the first restaurant I went to WITHOUT AN ADULT!!! (because it's the only place walking distance from my childhood home while also being affordable for a 10 year old)!! Ahh, independence! You don't expect much at the bunny hutch, but for what it is, it delivers. A shabby burger shack with milkshakes, situated right next to a mini-golf and batting cages. The burgers and fries are pretty tasty, nothing to write home about, but they do the job. They also have some nice meal deals if you want burger/fries/drink or hotdog/fries/drink. There will be children, dogs, and bugs there... you have been warned.

The Bunny Hutch is a little burger joint next to the Novelty Golf. They were playing great '80's music when I was there. I skipped the greasy food and went straight to their ice cream creations. The turtle sundae was pretty good, and made by the best child labor in town (yes, it looks like some 10 year old does work here but he's probably family of the owners, and hell, he makes a great turtle sundae). If I go back for more putt putt, I'm definitely stopping back at The Bunny Hutch!

  • Stacy T.

I came in with low expectations for the food and high hopes for a fun round at the batting cages, but I was pleasantly surprised by both. The batting cages were the best fun anyone can buy for a dollar and the hotdogs were the best I've had in Chicago. I love the fact that they don't steam the buns and that its loaded with all the goodies piled on top of a juicy dog. Yum -o. Way better than superdog and half the price. The burger was a dissapointment, but since I shared it halvesies with my man it wasn't a big deal. I quickly forgot how bad it sucked when I ate the dog! Its a run down little shanty and the "game room" has a majorly old air hockey table, but the prices are stuck in the past too, so I say two thumbs up for cheap wholesome fun!

OK.. I do understand that miniature golf is not the most popular thing to do these days and may not be the most lucrative business to be in anymore but for crying out loud Bunny hutch you have been in business since the like forever. Clean this place up some what a total crap hole it is. As a kid this place was cool beans and now it is a total waste of your time. The place is falling apart. Your patrons have been good to you over the years because your still around so do something and slap a fresh coat of paint on the place repair some of your games and make this place a kid friendly spot again.

I needed a burger, they needed $7. The Bunny Hutch is a tatty old burger shack. Lots of character. There is a quality statement about the meat on their menu. The burger delivered. Hot and delicious. Food service crinkle cuts with some lawry's were fine. Add a shake to your meal for +$1. Kind of dirty. Big freakn deal. I like this place.

  • CATHERINE C.

For what it is the food is pretty good. I was there a couple days ago and also last summer and they definitely have done some updating (new paint etc.) the prices are just okay. It was about $6 for burger and fries with no drink. the burgers were delicious though. They did used offer a free ice cream cone to the winner of a mini golf round but no longer do that.

  • Sarah F.

What an awesomely bad hole. You kind of know what you are getting when you walk in. I'm pretty sure its one of those places you love to make fun of but I would go back...if that makes sense. I got the loaded fries and dog with grilled onions and mustard...the name escapes me now. Definitely good when you have that hot dog hankering! I'll go back and take friends when they are in town...not just to see their reactions but also to share some good food and stories about the place.

Just as i remember it. decent hot dog and the kids enjoyed the crispy fries. they have a great new swirl cone machine. YUM!

  • Audrey T.

You go here for the batting cages. You can also go for the mini-golf or the arcade or just to get out of the city a little bit, but if you want to relieve stress and smash some balls without having to deal with the OTHER batting cage (Sluggers at Clark and Addison, ugh), you definitely go here. They have a trashcan with a giant hippo head on it. And there's parking. Good times!

  • Carrie W.

Hooray for mini golf! (TWO 18 hole courses to choose from!) Hooray for the elaborate obstacles with fun themes. Hooray for some fun in the glorious sunshine, entertaining our 6 year old selves. Hooray for the gaggle of little girls in the family behind us who cheered for me and boo'd for my boyfriend, taunting him with a "Girls RULE, boys DROOL!" every time he prepared to putt. I can't wait to come back when the much-talked-about soft serve ice cream stand is open!

Note: This is a review of the Bunny Hutch, the food stand which is attached to Devon Novelty Golf. This isn't a review of DNG. Ah, the bunny hutch. What's to say? Well, in a few words, you'll only ever eat here if you've been in the batting cages or putted a few rounds at DNG. Let's face it; the food is borderline crap, and if you're expecting any sort of ambiance you need to get your head examined. If you want good food of this type, you're much better served by Poochies or Herms in Skokie. But if you just don't feel like moving the car after a round of 18, the food is edible. Don't expect much and you'll be fine.

  • Y V.

I remember going to The Bunny Hutch as a kid. There's nothing like playing a round of miniature golf at Novelty Golf (remember the commercial? youtube.com/watch?v=8Kj_… ) and getting a hot dog and pop for lunch. Yeah, it gets five stars for nostalgia alone :)

    (5)
  • John S.

Clueless cashiers, burnt hotdogs, or obnoxious teenagers. Take your pick of what turned me off to the bunny hutch. Throw in ridiculous prices and you have a craptastic hot dog shack. The shakes were watery, the francheezie was horrid, and the whole thing set me back a twenty spot. If this place is aimed at pampered kids from the burbs, they should put that on the door, so anyone with standards knows to steer clear.

    (1)
  • Lynn C.

It's dated, it's greasy, it's delicious! What more do you want? It will be full of kids, something will be spilled, you won't care much! Last time I did the spilling (all over myself, the booth and the floor). They were very nice about it.

    (4)
  • Gene W.

There isn't really anything special about this place, and it's kind of dirty, but it's gets three stars for nostalgia. I will say this, they put sauerkraut on hot dogs, and that, my friends, is rock and roll.

    (3)
  • Renato P.

There is a common misconception , The bunny Hutch is the restaurant that is on the same property as Novelty Golf . yelp.com/biz/qpoy_dwofL3… The Bunny Hutch when reviewed objectively on it's merits as a restaurant is maybe three stars at best . As the place I went to as kid with my family to get burger and a make your own sundae after a day of mini golf , It scores a bit higher. I haven't been here since I could drive , hopefully it hasn't changed. The memories of a weekend night , friends or family and a trip to the Hutch are still with me today . After a day putting through windmills , nothing goes down quite as nice as a pizza puff and a soft serve cone.

  • Kevin T.

play video games, get a hot dog and some soft serve, hit some balls in their batting cages and go with a date to their mini golf. great date spot during warmer seasons.
