The atmosphere was ok, but nothing to brag about. Our waitress Robin was a sweetheart, but the food was meh. We started off with seared ahi tuna which had this terribly overpowering mustard and ginger sauce. The garlic meatballs were tasty. I had the lobster and shrimp bisque which was extremely peppery tasting and watery. He has the Cesar salad which was nothing impressive. I had the new York strip steak Oscar style, which was tasty but also quite salty. He had the filet which was supposed to be stuffed with mushrooms, but instead was just covered in them. And the sides, garlic horseradish mashed and white cheddar augraten potatoes were either overpowering or just ok. The desert was very disappointing. I was so looking forward to bananas foster bread pudding, and it had no flavour at all. Where was the bananas foster part?! Honestly, I would never go back there. It was way over-priced and the food was mediocre at best. Flemmings was exponentially better and worth the cost.

Another great dining experience at Sullivan's, as expected. The staff is so friendly and welcoming to us and our 17 month old little girl and we really appreciate that. Thanks Sullivan's!

Fifty Shades of Grey party. Boyfriend's parent's 32nd wedding anniversary. Amazing drinks and food. SUCCESS. So my boyfriend's family had reservations here for Friday night to celebrate their anniversary. On Thursday I got a nice little surprise in my inbox, an invite to the Fifty Shades party being held there on Friday night. (I'm obsessed with Fifty Shades) I thought, Ok this night is going to be great! We got there and the whole bar area was decked out in red, red balloons, red couches, a special drink menu featuring drinks named after things from the book. They really did go all out for the event, even served pinkish/red champagne. So after we had a cocktail at the bar, we were seated at our table. Dinner was amazing! Mike thinks he's really clever and rather than just sit and talk about random things at dinner, he usually comes up with some kind of game to play. Friday was no exception. He asked our delightful server for some paper and pens and passed them out to everyone. He thought that since it was his parent's 32nd wedding anniversary, we could play the Newlywed Game. His sister and brother-in-law, who have married for 2 years, and he and I, who have been together for 2 months and his parent's began the game. It was so much fun! Not your typical Sullivan's group I'm sure, but we definitely had a blast! Everyone had something different to eat, but it was all amazing and the drinks and desserts were equally delicious! I've been to Sullivan's before but I think between the Fifty Shades party and the game we played, it was much more relaxed and enjoyable this time around.

It pains me to not give this place a higher rating because our server was top notch, the front desk staff was pleasant and efficient and the manager was attentive. The restaurant is pleasing to the eye so you are happy to sit and relax. But somehow the food is shy of being spot on. We split a Caesar salad which was fresh but the dressing was pretty fishy tasting. We ordered the special steak to split and it was horrible. It was a HUGE rib bone and this teeny steak that was flavorless and not all that tender. We split the augratin potatoes which were okay. We wanted to kick ourselves when we saw a beautiful juicy filet (my original choice) presented to a nearby table. So I guess I'm saying I felt a little bamboozled into the "special". Given that feeling, I'm not sure if I would go out of my way to go back there.

My husband and I dined here recently. My husband is a tough steak critic and absolutely loved the In-Bone KC steak - the server, Kevin, guided him perfectly in this choice and was a great server all evening in every regard - drinks, suggestions, attentiveness, friendliness and patience! Thank you! In addition, one of the managers on duty, Dave, was so helpful, professional and attentive to make the experience feel really special. I would have given five stars, but the restaurant really needs to train its hostesses to greet diners at the door with a smile, an actual "hello", and some enthusiasm. We walked in happy to be there and smiling, but they both looked like they weren't comfortable and didn't seem to even want to be there. One of them did help us off and on with our coats and seemed to understand protocol, but again, management needs to train them to be welcoming, friendly and SMILE - their service matters, too. I almost walked out the door when we got there, it was so odd, and would have missed a great evening.

Sometimes the test of a good restaurant is as much in the service as the food. When my husband and I made our online reservation, we requested a booth. When we were seated, we were brought to a table. "Oh well," I thought, "it's Saturday night and you can't always get what you want." But almost immediately, someone appeared and indicated they saw our booth preference in the computer and moved us to a booth before we got settled. Very impressive. Bread: delicious. Cocktails: amazing. Braised beef ravioli appetizer - mouthwateringly yummy. My husband's 12oz Filet - cooked to perfection, melted in the mouth. sorry if my adjectives don't impress, but I'm not a food critic by trade. However, there was a slight issue with my entree. When we pointed it out, I was offered Anything in it's place, but because my appetite had already been sated, we were given a free dessert. Which was beyond reproach (the Warm Cast Iron Apple Caramel Crumble Served with Butter Pecan Ice Cream.. DIVINE!) The way my entree issue was handled, is what would make me overlook the issue and come back to Sullivan's. Not only did the Head Chef come out and personally apologize and explain exactly what had happened, but the manager and waitstaff bent over backward to ensure we had everything we needed or wanted. The fact that they treated us that way BEFORE we had any kind of food problem, by attending to our online booth request, shows they weren't just trying to save face. Accidents happen. It's how the restaurant handles the accident, that shows what kind of facility they are, and for me, I can definitely say I remain a fan of this restaurant.

Food was great - we had the special Valentine's prix fixe menu. Ambience was a little strange, we were in a big room that seemed to be the major thoroughfare for all foot traffic to get to other parts of the restaurant (it had a wine cellar in it). And the lighting in there was strange, more dimly-lit cubicle than romantic dinner lighting. From what I saw of other parts of the restaurant, it looked cozier, maybe we will request a different room next time. That being said, overall it was very good, and I would go back.

My wife and I had a dinner here last Saturday after I asked a co-worker where I can find a good steak in the area. We had reservations for 6:15 and arrived about 15 minutes early, so we sat at the bar and got some drinks. I had a vodka martini and my lovely wife had a "dreamcicle". We settled up our tab at the bar (about $24) and were seated right on time. The atmosphere was nice and the staff seemed attentive, I think the girl with the water pitcher must have come by over a dozen times during our meal to give refills. We ordered the tuna tartare (I have been craving Hawaiian poke and haven't found a way to quench it) and had some bread as appetizers. The tartare was decent...but I am still on the prowl for some poke. For dinner I ordered the bone-in strip and my wife had the filet with asparagus and mashed potatoes. Both steaks were cooked as asked and all the vegetables were a solid okay. For dessert, I was feeling a bit old school, so we went for the creme brulee and the bananas foster. The desserts were nothing to brag about or complain about. All in all... we spent about $175 (not including the bar). The meal was nothing to complain about, but I think that living in an area of the country that is known for beef...we should be able to do better. BTW... if anyone knows were i can find some poke, please let me know. We just moved from Hawaii and I am on the hunt.

After some fantastic dinners at different Sullivan's across the country, I was a bit disappointed at this location. I think we just hit an off night but I'm not sure. There was just something "off". Good things: PARKING - the one downtown can be a nightmare - you can use or not use the valet here but we did use it. Wife's fillet was overcooked but they did credit the meal. Timing of apps, soup, and entrees was of in timing. I also didn't notice to see if they had a live piano or duo/trio in the bar. That's one of the key reasons to stop in to a Sullivan's. They are supposed to have a great Thursday night crowd and I may check that out sometime. Overall, going downtown is worth the hassle and they, along with every other location other than Lincolnshire, know how to deliver a great dining experience.

Went there last night and everything was absolutely top notch. Fantastic service! The food was amazing. Crab cake appetizer was just like a real Maryland crab cake. All meat, very little filler with great flavor. My wife's steak was excellent as we're my scallops. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Old fashioned classic service without being pretentious. Food was exceptional, service was impeccable. It was a nice change of pace compared to the places that pride themselves on good service when in truth, it's barely average. Sullivan's was truly a great dining experience, a memorable one and we can't wait to go back.

Aw yiss classiest restaurant in this area. 'Tis off the tizzy in here. I appreciate good design and Sullivan's got it right. This is, like, somewhere I'd go with my 3L friends to sip that drank. The live music is great. Whoever the band is, kudos. They played some really interesting renditions of classic rock and pop songs. Food was scrumptious. We got steak, of course, and lobster and some appetizers. Everything was good. Wasn't 21 when I went but the bar looked noice. I must return to get my drink on. Everyone here is geriatric. It makes me feel sophisticated.

Very nice venue. Sat outside and enjoyed a pleasant evening with nice food and view of the water. Staff very accommodating food served quickly and well prepared. All in all an asset to the Lincolnshire dining scene. A real shame though that some patrons can't dress appropriately. FLIP FLOPS AND SHORTS ARE NOT APPROPRIATE . Go to Dairy Queen if that is your style.

We had a group of 12 and sat outside for lunch on the patio on a warm sunny Friday. While they are open for lunch, I get the feeling their bread and butter time is dinner. Walking through the completely empty restaurant to get to the long narrow patio, we felt a bit under dressed. This looks to be classic white linen, high end service place with the waiters dressed in formal attire. I'm sure it's quite a scene in the evening. Unfortunately, that's not the type of service we found for lunch. Like I said , the place was completely empty except for a single group of 12 on the patio and one other couple. The experience started with the hostess who seemed confused about how to seat our group. In hindsight, perhaps she was trying to give us the brush off or maybe our attire (semi-casual) was not quite what they were expecting but from the beginning, we weren't made to feel welcome. We finally settled ourselves in three round tables on the patio (as I mentioned, there were 12 adults in our group too-we just doubled their lunch biz right away by showing up). There seemed to be only one server on for lunch along with a couple of helpers. It took about 5-10 minutes for him to get over to us with glasses of ice water and to take the drink orders. He returned with the drinks 5 min later then took our food order. I have to note they have a nice selection of items at lunch and once the food arrived after a 20+ minute wait, it was top notch. Our group tried a cross section of things including the delicious chopped chicken cobb salad, meaty shaved steak sandwich with horse radish au jus, meat loaf, steaks and burgers. In all cases the food was 4+ star caliber, beautifully presented, fresh and tasty. But, as people who read my reviews know, in my opinion now a days, great food is merely "table stakes" and what really makes a 4 or 5 star restaurant in my book is service. In the end, I can't recommend them for lunch but strongly suspect that if we showed up for dinner, with a reservation of course, and snappily dressed, we'd likely find a much different experience.

Since we had a very good impression of this Sullivan's when we came last year to a "baby's 100 Days" party hosted by my niece, we decided to come here to celebrate our wedding anniversary this year. However, everything was just OK this time around. The whole place was not busy since it was a Monday. There were only 4 to 5 tables including us in our dining room. We ordered two glasses of champagne, but the waiter made a mistake and brought the whole bottle. He realized his mistake after we pointed that out, and took back the bottle after pouring two glasses, but he didn't correct the bill. We waited a long time for the check, when we pointed out the mistake on the check, it took the manager another 15 minutes to fix it! I ordered a Shrimp and Lobster Bisque, it was very heavy on pepper, which is the way I like it, but it might be too spicy for other people. My main course of Roasted Rack of lamb tasted good, but the plate arrangement was just embarrassingly plain. For an upscale restaurant and for that price, it is a surprise that there's no garnishing at all! They should at least cut the rack of lamb into two pieces and arranged them more interestingly. The dessert of Crème Brulee was a decent size. My husband would rate this dinner 3 stars. However, I really enjoyed our visit last time when it was in a nice roomy private room overlooking the pond, and the waiter, Torrence, was very patient and nice serving our big group of people, and the steak was juicy, it helped to bring up the rating of this visit to 4 stars,

Their steak is amazing, I had the NY strip and it was seasoned and cooked to perfection! They have a great and huge selection of wine to choose from too. My friends had the Hong Kong Style cooked Sea Bass amd the Salmon, both were very delicious too! Even our sides of brussel sprouts and asparagus were phenomenal! I can't complain about their food! The crowd last night for dinner(Wed) was more of the after work business dinner crowd but the place filled up so fast that I had to find parking by the hotel across from Sullivans.

While my friends politely ate their steaks and raved about them. I demolished the thickest and juiciest part of my lamb, then cut and sucked out every last morsel of meat from the bones, mopping up the au jus with a loaf of fresh bread. Afterward, their plates appeared polished. Mine looked like a war zone defoliated by tanks and missiles then overrun by ninjas. Our server was terrific. He brought supplies and made suggestions in a timely manner and knew the menu like he'd written it. Great atmosphere, excellent meal, professional service. I shall return.

My husband and I went here when we were in town for a wedding and it was amazing. I had the filet and added the oscar style and my husband had the New York with the oscar style everything was cooked to perfection. The Mac and cheese was some of the best I have had. It is a pricy joint but worth it!

Had an early reservation (no wait). Didn't like sitting in the 2nd dinning room adjacent to the front door (cold breeze). Would have preferred a table in the main dining room--but they had blocked tables based on reservations (Valentine weekend). Service awesome. Constant checks by wait staff & management. Steaks cooked to perfection. Live music in the bar area was AWESOME. Great ambiance by the fireplace.

Wow. Sullivan's Steakhouse has definitely improved over the past several years. When I first tried Sullivan's after moving back to the area 7+ years ago, it was a disaster. Incorrect food orders, incorrect temperatures, wrong prices, etc. After a few times of bad service, we didn't return for a few years. Now comes Mother's Day. I was looking for a nearby Mother's Day brunch location since the Capital Grille no longer offers their amazing Mother's Day brunch buffet which was our staple place to go. It was a little too far for me to travel for a plated brunch when I could get that at any steakhouse, so we stayed nearby, especially with a newborn. Debated between Fleming's and Sullivan's, but Sullivan's won out with both time selection (important to have flexibility with a newborn) and menu selection (you can order anything from benedicts to steaks - and you can even make a steak into a benedict!). We show up at our reserved time (after having to change it a few times due to the baby's schedule) and was seated immediately in a booth in the front dining room. We were greeted by our waitress who was super friendly, and we expressed our need for fast service because we never knew when the baby would wake up and make a fuss. (He's only a month old right now.) She promised she would expedite everything for us. A manager also stopped by to greet us and also promised to expedite our meal. And yes, they did deliver on their promise. Fancy steakhouse that was moderately busy, and we were in/out in 45 minutes. WIN! And the baby just started to wake up during dessert, so it worked out perfectly. Now onto the food: Bread - OMG, best steakhouse bread. EVER. There is no other bread that is better. Flaky crust. Tender middle. Warm inside and out. Exactly how bread should be! I would return just for the bread, btw. Shrimp & Lobster Bisque - really good flavors. It had a little bit of heat, but not too spicy that I couldn't taste anything else. There were also little chunks of shrimp in the soup, but I didn't see any lobster in my bowl. Would have been perfect if there were chunks of lobster too. Filet Mignon 8oz - soooo good! I ordered rare+ and it came out exactly how I ordered it. There was a tad too much finishing salt on top for my personal taste, but it was easily scraped off. The steak was melt-in-your-mouth tender. One of the best filets I've had in a while. Hand Carved Prime Rib 12oz - again, super delicious. The hubby ordered it medium rare and it came out exactly perfect. Nicely seasoned. Amazingly tender. Fabulous all around. One of the best prime ribs we've had. Scrambled Eggs, Bacon & English Muffin - this was the kiddo's meal. He said it was delicious and ate the entire plate. That's all I can ask for. :) Warm Chocolate Cake with Raspberry Sauce & Vanilla Bean Ice Cream - I could eat this all day long and again. It's basically Sullivan's version of a molten lava cake without the molten. But it didn't need to be molten. It was fabulous exactly how it's prepared. Bananas Foster Bread Pudding with Caramel Sauce & Vanilla Bean Ice Cream - Hubby thought this was delicious. He did note that the alcohol wasn't cooked all the way out, but that might be due to our rush to leave. He didn't mind though! :) Overall, delicious food, great and friendly service. The price was brunch was also very reasonable for what you got. They also have similar prix fixe options during dinner service for a few dollars more. I would not hesitate to come here again. Sullivan's is serious competition to all the other steakhouses. Great job and keep up the good work!

  • Daniel S.

I'm often very critical of steakhouses being too pricey for the food or just not that great with flavors. I was surprised and impressed with Sullivan's. I felt like the pricing was fair and the good above average; the salads were good and the sides good too.

Good service from start to finish. There was at least 3 people helping our party of 10. Got a mixed green salad I believe and it was really good. Pretty much licked the plate clean. Got the 8 oz filet and it was really good. It was my first real meal after getting my wisdom teeth removed and I was able to enjoy the meal. Good selection of wines. I enjoyed it even though I don't drink wine usually. Wish I got dessert but it was getting late for my party. Good high end place to go.

Solid steak house, very good service, nice wine list. I've been to other Sullivans locations and its cousin restaurant, Del Frisco, and they are a very solid steak house. This location has convenient parking, a nice bar and good food. I had a long bone ribeye and it was prepared exactly as ordered. As a side, I had the sweet potato casserole, which was a little disappointing. Too heavy on the brown sugar and marshmallows, sweeter than most desserts. The steak was good but very hard to excel at steak in the Chicago area. Probably a 3.5 stars that I round up to 4 given no real complaints.

Wow! Wow! Wow! My parents hosted my bridal shower there and it was beautiful! Friends raved about the food, which was determined off a pre-set menu we chose ahead of time. Very accommodating. Definitely a more expensive shower venue, but my guests were very pleased with their lunch and the room was beautiful. I had nearly 40 guests and we had the back room with all the windows & terrace. It was fabulous!

Just woke from my food coma!!! This place is a little hard to find, which hopefully won't hurt it's future business. It is tucked a little way off Milwaukee Avenue next to a rather well-known pancake house. Met a couple of girlfriends here Sunday night and we had a great time. No disappointment here. We were seated ;and offered drinks immediately (Mango Martini was so awesome had to have another!). We decided to start with the Seafood Sampler and it was so fresh and tasty and wonderful and need I say more? EXCELLENT. Stayed with the seafood and had the Shrimp Scampi on pasta-huge shrimp (wait that sounds like an oxymoron?). Some of the girls ordered the lobster and we got several sides (creamed spinach, Au gratin potatoes, broccoli) all were great and the sides were enough for us all to try. I know this is a steakhouse so one of the girls had the bone-in sirloin and picked that bone clean. She raved about it. Read the reviews so I opted for the fresh mozzarella and tomato salad and it was heaven. This place isn't cheap so be prepared, but sooooo worth it!

The steak was good. The drinks were good, the service was very good. For half the money I could go to Outback and have good. With their prices good isn't good enough.

Highlight of our Thanksgiving dinner was the waitress, Cathy. She was delightful, funny and helpful. The seafood bisque was delicious, the very generous serving of white meat only :( turkey was brined and tender, the stuffing was yummy with sweet sausage. But, the sides were all just sad. The mashed potatoes had way too much horseradish, the sweet potato casserole was way too sweet, the sauteed mushrooms tasted moldy and the chocolate mousse tasted like cool whip. They put us in a very brightly lit room that looked like it was used for overflow, they serve low tier spirits at top shelf prices and the reception ladies are so rude. On the way out I said good night twice, louder the 2nd time, and they didn't even look at me. Zup with that? We came here on the recommendation of our hotel manager who raved about the place. Thought this place was new but they said it had been there for 6 years. Food and attitude must be the reason I never heard of it before. I'd never return.

Horrible service. The hostess was rude and manipulative. There were ten + open tables in the dining room adjacent to the entry. However we had to wait in the bar and the only seats available were the seat next to the drummer. I have sensitive hearing so after trying to cope with the noise, I asked if we could be seated in one of the open tables. She said no they were not available. She refused to seat us anywhere, there is no way all of those tables were reserved and if they were, all ten tables were very late. Would never go again. The whole seating situation is a scam to try and force you into the bar to buy alcohol.

Not worth the money. Service was good but the food was not. Oysters on the half shell were not fresh. Au gratin potatoes were not evenly cooked and cold in places. I have had great meals at their downtown Chicago location but I would not return to this location.

So ....everyone \ place deserves a second chance right? After receiving a call and a gift card from the manager to revisit Sullivan's we went back last night. If you read our first experience below you will understand what a mountain they will have to climb to get my attention as a restaurant to frequent. The letter with the gift card asked us to see the manager and present the card before we dined. I felt like that was too easy for them to wow us with great service so we elected to stealth dine instead. We were immediately greeted with a wonderful waitress who happened to have a trainee in tow this evening. Everything and I mean everything was spot on. They carefully watched our table moving from course to course. We did not revisit the tableware issues we had experienced in the previous visit and the presentation of the wine, food, explanation of the specials was perfect. I could hardly believe I was in the same restaurant that just 3 months ago gave me one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. The food was excellent. The tuna tartar appetizer was fresh and well presented with a nice avocado and Habanero side that was not to spicy but added needed kick to the tartar. I sampled my wife's shrimp cocktail and it was really nice. It was plated well and was just the perfect temp and consistency. We both had a steak and each was prepared exactly how we ordered it .....Memories of the previous train wreck were rapidly evaporated. The steaks were delicious. We finished off the evening with coffee and a shared piece of cheesecake and the metamorphosis was complete. Excellent evening with great service and a wonderful steakhouse experience. I was going to ask for the manager to tell him we came back and the experience was 180 degrees different, but our waitress was really running and the trainee might have melted down if I had asked to see the manager on her first day. I chose to let Yelp be my communication vehicle instead. I am still a little wary of Sullivan's. Wide swings in service and food is usually not a good sign for a restaurant but we are willing to put it back on our list and we will be back. No more "uh ohs" though Sullivan's.....You've gotten your shot at redemption and came away with a victory. We will be back but we will be watching.

THIS PLACE. This place almost received a one star review from me after last night's experience. My family, two of my parent's friends, and I went out for a late dinner in honor of Mother's Day. We started with the Shanghai Calamari, which ended up being quite a hit, and we all got starter salads, 2 Cesar, the rest wedge. The salads were delicious. Three of the people at my table ordered the Cedar Plank Salmon, which was to be served with a mole sauce on a cedar plank with a lemon chive confit on the side. It really sounded fabulous. I ordered the lamb with the Cabernet Goat Cheese butter on the side, my brother got a cheese burger, and my dad ordered the NY Strip. I was informed after we had all placed our orders, that the kitchen had actually run out of lamb. :( I changed my order to the Bone-in Kansas City Strip, with the same sauce per our server's suggestion. The night goes on. NEXT, the manager walked out to our table, nervously, and informed us that they were also out of the salmon, BUT, that the kitchen had already cooked up a gold bass in its place complete with all of the toppings that were supposed to be on the salmon, and if we wanted, new orders could be placed, or we had the option to give this gold bass a try. Everyone agreed to try the bass. This group quite enjoy sea bass. Unfortunately, this fish was not good. it smelled fishy, it was tough, and it was weird that the kitchen had just gone ahead and cooked it rather than informing the staff that the item was 86'd a long time ago. Very bizarre. Even more unfortunate, was how no one had bothered to inform our server, who came out and eagerly asked us how we were enjoying the salmon. Everyone at my table at this point had more or less lost their appetites. My mom decided that she just wanted a side of macaroni and cheese, which she really didn't end up eating much of, one of our friends traded the fish in for an 8oz filet mignon, and our other friend decided she really wasn't that hungry anymore, and opted out of having anything. The manager, clearly mortified, did come out and apologize profusely about everything that had happened, and informed us that dinner would be on the house, and he passed out 25% off vouchers to everyone at the table (what more can you do, really). We were grateful, and decided to give dessert a shot, since everyone pretty much had room in their stomachs from the lack of eating that had gone on. We got the bananas foster bread pudding, and the coconut cream cake, with cups of tea and coffee all around. The desserts were fabulous, and our server was super gracious considering everything that had just happened. Coming from the industry myself, I know how rough that can be. That was clearly outside of the server's and the manager's hands, and it really appeared to me that the kitchen crew were trying to pull a fast one on their manager, and us. Bizarre as it may have been, we did manage to have a really nice time, and my dad assured the manager that he had been to this restaurant several times before now, and he had received excellent service in the past. We still tipped the server who had politely handled the situation with grace, and we had a nice laugh on the ride home about the whole thing. I really have to compliment the front of house for handling the situation as best they could. That was a bit of a fiasco, and there was no preparing for what was about to go down, and for that, I give these guys 5 stars. I'd be curious to see how this place is when everything is working right.

If you are in the mood for a gluttonous meal Sullivan's is the place for you. I've had the opportunity to try a number of steak houses and I have to say Sullivan's showed us at least one thing nowhere else has. You can get a good prime steak at most steak houses although Sullivan's offers a bone in filet mignon which you don't find most places. You can also get a good Caesar salad or a (silly) wedge salad at most steak houses but they are always a la carte except at Sullivan's where they come with your dinner. And you can always find lobster bisque or some appetizer you want but never ever have I had what Sullivan's offered. They had on the menu a cheese-steak egg roll which was the richest most ridiculously gooey and not too subtle or dainty appetizer I've ever seen offered at a steak house. I had to order it and I'm sure it wasn't a good health move but it was good. They even offered an interesting side dish with their lobster mac n cheese, whoa. Most steak houses are pretty similar so it was nice to go to a place that offered some unusual steaks, didn't make everything a la carte and surprised you with some items that were new.

Unfortunate experience last night. Was hoping for a nice work dinner, but soup was brought out to a colleague without a spoon. 10 mintues later no spoon so I had to go to the bar to get one. Soup was cold for him once I brought him a utensil. Lettuce wedges were good though. Then we ordered wine. Wine came late. Waitress said she couldn't find it even though it was on the suggested wine list. Fillets were ok. For the price I was expecting Ruth's Chris but got somewhat like Cheesecake factory. Key lime pie was good. All in - expensive casual dining, not what I thought it was going to be. Dining in Suburbia....

First off, they may deserve 5 stars... but my shrimp were a little dry so i have to be realistic. I sat at the bar and got FANTASTIC service from the bar tender. Great drinks, knowledgeable about what beers they had and knew the local beer in and out. The seafood trio was great. They also had a humidor so i got a cigar for the road and they had free cutters to go with it.

Well, I keep coming back here. They have my absolute favorite meat loaf. Three generous slices of bleu-cheese infused meat loaf on top of mashed potatoes and covered in a rich mushroom and onion gravy. It's just the comfort meal par excellence, And for only 10 schmackers. I tried my best to eat half/save half but no way could I do that. Cleaned that plate clean, I did. But skipped dessert. Do I get any credit for that?

Sullivan's flies under the radar given all the choices for steak in the city and suburbs. Every time I've been here its been solid. Went this past week for a business lunch. We sat in the bar. Service was very attentive and informative. I had the steak salad which was phenomenal. Steak melts in your mouth. Great job. I'll be back.

Food was wonderful, service was amazing! The steaks were great, as were the sides, and dessert. The manager came by the table and chatted with us a few times, they were extremely attentive and efficient. A few weeks later, I received a handwritten card from our server thanking us for our visit. I will definitely go back again! They go above and beyond.

I took out the business lunch. A lot of good food for $19, I couldn't finish it. It was french onion soup, filet mignon, mashed potatoes, and veggies. The only real complaint is that the spice crust on the meat was too salty. I had to scrape it off.

I went in with the high hopes of having the same kind of experience that I have had with the Chicago location. No such luck. This place is large, segmented, cold and just a little odd. For example the music was a mix of Sinatra and The Drive FM. Our waiter was sweet. I used to brag that the downtown location made the best dirty martini. I can't say the same for Lincolnshire. Even after I sent it back it wasn't fantastic. I had the sea bass which was too sweet for me. The bok choy was too tough to cut! I did like the wedge salad. But again the waiter was attentive. Its just not enough to get us back there before a show at the Marriott (which we are subscribers)

Wow, If you live near here and have not come here you don't know what your missing. If you have business here and need a great place to have a lunch\dinner meeting without breaking the bank give Sullivan's a try. Best Calamari on the planet. Steak medallions and shrimp was great to. Impeccable service. First course of three took a little to long according to the night manager (I was good with the timing) but he bought me a glass of wine anyway.

I had better lunch at Subway. During lunch at Sullivans, service was great, quality of food was very marginal and overpriced. I ordered Roasted Balsamic Chicken, which came in burned on one side. Seared Ahi Tuna was described by my partner as nothing special. Room tempreature at the main dinner hall was very chilly. I could not wait to leave this restaurant. Not worth the money, skip this place and go to Wildfire, at the same cost you will get quality food and service.

5 of us went to dinner on Saturday night. Service was slow -- took about 10 minutes to get drinks (took the server a bit to come over and take our order). 2 of us ordered martinis and they were not cold like they should be -- had to add some ice. Second round -- cold, but also took forever. Our bread came AFTER the drinks. What's up with that? Appetizers were excellent -- crab cake, ahi tuna, escargot Salads were also great -- wedge and ceasar Steaks were a disappointment. I asked for mine medium-rare. The server said that medium would be bright pink. Medium Rare would be, well, too rare, in his opinion. So I went with medium. Everyone else also ordered medium. Only my husband's came out medium -- he ordered the dry aged NY strip The rest of us ordered the KC Strip -- these all came out medium well. Pointed this out to a man who appeared to be the manager... He said "well, I think when you get closer to the bone, you will enjoy it" Hmmmm. Ok, closer to the bone will get me about 5 bites of a 20 oz. steak cooked the way I ordered it. Lame.

We enjoy the Thursday night specials in the bar. Most items are $5 or $6. Really a great value and good jazz playing as well. You need to get there early to get a seat, but a great environment to catch up with friends and get good deal on high quality food and beverage. They have this deal nationwide I think.

Came here on the good recommendation from family, we were in town visiting with the baby and they offered to babysit so we could have a nice evening out alone. The hostess was less than pleasant when we came in and gave her our name for our reservation. Not quite sure what was going on there. I think we were only a few minutes late and it was raining heavily outside. Sullivan's is a little tucked away so we had to make a u-turn. Otherwise we would have been on time. But no reason to look like you just ate a lemon and take it out on me. Then when another hostess/waitress came along she was all giggles and was more than happy to accommodate the party that came right after us. Hm. Once we were seated our waitress and the floor staff were very accommodating. Because of the time difference my husband had to take some important phone calls from CA so had to leave the table for a bit. I think the waitstaff thought he ditched me and felt bad! They checked on me often and even offered to reheat our Rockefeller Oysters (which were awesome, by the way.) My husband was gone for a good 20 minutes I think, and I had to use the restroom but I didn't want them to think I was going to leave. The waitress was very nice and by the time I came back, of course my husband was back. We continued with dinner and were both pleased with our entrees. He had the scallops and I had a filet, cooked perfectly medium rare. I wish I could give 5 stars, but the snooty host was not how our otherwise perfect dining experience should have started. Unfortunately we don't live in the area so can't come back to attempt to have the perfect dining experience.

Recently the atmosphere hasn't been good here. While on their website looking I noticed that their chef is a construction worker and not a chef. maybe that is part of the problem. A good establishment should have a trained, qualified chef.

Had a celebratory dinner for my first wedding anniversary here and it was exceptional! I've been to Sullivan's in Naperville and had a great experience, but this Sullivan's outdid itself to help make a special night for my wife and I. They greeted us so graciously, there was a handwritten congratulatory note from the general manager waiting for us at our table, they took a complimentary pic that all the staff signed, and almost each staff member stopped by at some point during the night to say congrats. So we were feeling very welcome and happy--and this was before the first drink was served!! The drinks were phenomenal! My wife had the salted caramel apple martini. She loved it so much that she ordered another. I had the blueberry lemon drop, which is officially my favorite drink in the universe now. It was really so good that I couldn't believe it was real. The apps were yummy. I had the calamari and wifey had the deviled eggs. Her eggs were so good she didn't want to share (I didn't hold it against her, though). We both had perfectly cooked filets with white cheddar au gratin potatoes, sweet potato casserole, and grilled asparagus. Everything they put down in front of us was absolutely delish! No joke! To top it all off we had the apple crumb and the bananas foster bread pudding for dessert. It was a perfect meal in celebration of what turned out to be a perfect night. Good customer service is kind of a lost art these days, so I can't say enough how appreciative I am to Sullivan's for making my wife and I feel welcome and valued. We will definitely be back!!

This could be a 4 star, but just misses. Went on a weekday and they seemed to have a good bar crowd with live music and the restaurant itself was not overly crowded. Our server was ok, but slow service seems to be the norm when looking at other reviews. The bus boy constantly cleaned the table and our water was refilled all of the time. If the waitress was as quick as the bus boy and water person, the service would be 5 star. Sometimes a really great server can make up for other shortcomings, but here, the service is a part of the shortcomings. We both order filets medium rare, and this was my biggest fault with the place. They were cooked correctly, but they were dry. As this is the main course, to me, this is what most of the rating is based on. Compared to local competition in order of a great filet, all very tightly bunched in the top 3 would be Flemings, Bob Chinn's and Wildfire. Then, Sullivan's would be a distant, distant 4th only because I have no other comparison in the 4th place spot. As for the rest of the meal, the salad, sides, deserts, etc. They were all good, no complaints. It's a place you want to love, but when dropping this kind of money on a meal, I know I can expect more consistency from other local establishments. We may try again, but probably not going to go out of our way.

The hostess and someone who looked like they could be a manager were great. They checked in several times over dinner asking how everything was. However, while our server was overall ok and nice there were definitely times when his tone hinted that he wanted us to proceed a little quicker with our dinner. The waitress at the other table ended up picking up a lot of his slack. She gave the table next to us a really nice overview of all the steak options (our server didnt.) She had to help our server clear our table (2 dinner plates and 2 bread plates?) and then we ended up having to give our check to her because he was MIA. I ordered the filet medallions medium and what I ended up getting was a $50 entree of three small (not 4 oz filets!) well-done chunks of filet. My boyfriend had the beautiful Porterhouse which was only $45...I felt dooped with my beef stew nuggets. I should have just ordered the full 8 or 12 oz filet for $35 or $40. As a side note and nothing against your servers, why would someone want a photograph of themselves signed by your wait staff as a birthday gift? Terrible terrible idea. The free dessert was a nice touch though. I can't see myself rushing back to here any time soon especially not for the price (almost two hundred with no appetizers.) The one on Hubbard rocks though and thankfully I live in the city so I will be going back to that location soon to get a not-watered down Knockout Martini. If you're craving a steak just head over to Flemings or Wild Fire 2 minutes away.

Seated promptly for our 6:30 Sat. night reservation. It was our first time here for dinner, I had been for lunch before. We had received a gift card for Christmas. Atmosphere is very nice. Service was just o.k. Our waiter brought out the wrong bottle of wine and when we asked him if anything was included with the dinner's he said no.....but as we were reading the menu it said that a salad was included with all entrees. I had the small filet $34 (menu said it was 8 ounces, but looked to be 6 ounces at most) and hubby had the meatloaf $25. Order of broccoli with garlic $8 for the side. Our salads were very good, mine the caesar and hubby's the wedge. Broccoli was tasty. Meatloaf was very good & flavorful, filling for my guy with the big appetite. My steak was not cooked right. I ordered medium and it was medium well. They did take it back and bring me one that was cooked correctly. My 2 star rating is because this is a very expensive STEAK place and for $34 bucks they have to get it right. I KNEW before I even cut into it that is was overcooked....You tell me that someone in the kitchen didn't catch this?

Love this place. The Hostess's and servers are always well-dressed and classy. They have a spacious bar with several lounging spots within it. The two dining rooms are spacious with high ceilings and great lighting. Lot's of requisite steakhouse wood paneling as Jack mentioned. Thursday night is the happenin night where they have live music and a nice crowd. I come here every Thursday for their $5 Bar special. Usually, everyone tends to get the delicious Cheeseburger that is huge for the $5 price-tag at a place like this. Comes with your choice of fries, chips, or buttered seasoned veggies. This Burger is Delicious, and is one of my favorites in the city I will admit. Recently, I went ahead and tried another $5 item on the menu, the Tavern sliced steak. Ordered it Medium, as all great juicy steaks should be cooked, and it was perfecto. I love A-1 sauce but I wouldn't dare poor a drop on this one. It was served, neatly sliced, atop a bed of sauteed spinach topped with a rich mushroom butter sauce. Give them a shot. Brian and Jessica at the bar will be sure to take care of you!

I ate at Sullivan's recently and was very satisfied with the meal. I ate at the bar which was nice although they do have live music sometimes and it was a bit loud. Decent selection of wines by the glass. The Caesar salad was good and the meatloaf was pretty decent as well. I may come back to try one of the bar specials.

After a long and stressful week my wife and i decided on Sullivan's this past friday. been coming here since they opened and up to now a pretty solid performer in the steakhouse business. Not sure what has happened, perhaps a change in management, but what a disappointment. What used to be a pretty reliable wait staff is now reduced to kids scurrying around with no clue of what good customer service is (the gentleman at next table had to help the waiter uncork his bottle of wine). I guess that would be ok if not for the price of the meal. When we talked to the manager, and mentioned that service was slow, his response was that it was a busy nite. When I told him that the bottle of wine I ordered from the wine list was listed as a 2009 and what we received was a 2010, his reply was that vintages don't change that much. This is from a steakhouse with an avg check of $75pp. Save some money and go to outback!

The reason for the three stars is the price, ambiance and the quality of the rib-eye steak. This is a steakhouse and for $300 for 4 people I got a rib-eye that was perfectly cooked but, not tender. It was also over seasoned. I am very surprised for the amount of money we paid for dinner. I also found the ambiance nice but, the band was a bit too loud and we got sat at a table which was unusually high (can't recall this ever happening to me before even though I am petite). I felt like I was in a high chair. I just could not get comfortable and sooo wished they had put us in a booth. That being said, the staff was attentive and wonderful! I started with a chocolate martini which was delightful. While my steak was mediocre, the french onion soup, potatoes Au gratin with a hint of bacon, broccoli, and creamed corn were amazing! 5 stars on these items! My husband said the scallops were the best he ever had. We had the chocolate mousse, fresh cream and strawberry for dessert which was good. All in all I don't think I will be back. While I will miss the amazing sides, the steak was mediocre and I just can't justify coming back for a mediocre steak at such an expensive price. Too bad because the sides are really to die for!

One of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. I am a 20 business traveler and am a frequent diner at many types of restaurants across the nation, preferring steakhouses. The meal experience at Sullivan's, below average at best, paled in comparison to our underachieving staff. After finishing our appetizers, our dirty plates remained at the table, in front of us, while we tried to enjoy our drinks amid the mess until our salads were served. When the salads were presented, the wait staff finally removed the dirty plates, removing all our silverware, leaving us none to eat our salads. When the entrees arrived, we were still consuming our salads. After rushing our salads down, they removed our plates, and silverware, and again left the table leaving us with no silverware to eat our meal! We waited and watched our meals cool while they searched silverware. Lastly, in totality, the waiter had a presence more suited for that of Chili's - at one point asking us if we needed anything because "he was going to be tied up awhile". Overall our experience was a wasted night out due to the unprofessional, and laziness of the Sullivan's staff. I can understand if it was a busy night at the restaurant, and it was short staffed, but the place was 60% empty.

Enjoyed a weeknight business dinner at Sullivans. The specialty martini - something with pineapple-infused vodka - was delicious as was the wasabi-mustard tuna tartare appetizer. My bone-in filet was perfectly cooked (rare as requested) and flavorful. The sweet potato side dish was served piping hot with a sweet and nutty crunchy topping. No room for dessert so can't comment there. What really impressed was the service; waitress Jenny was perhaps even overly attentive and a bit too perky for my liking but her service could not be faulted. Based on other reviews I am guessing this is hit-or-miss. Ask for Jenny!

This place is so yummy. I was here for a rehearsal dinner before a wedding and they had rented out one of the rooms. The wait staff was friendly and helpful, even bringing us alternate sauces and dressings if we were not happy. I definitely recommend it!

I went to Sullivan's on New Years Eve. They had a set menu of appetizers, salads steaks, sides and desserts. For an app I had the the cheese steak egg rolls. They were surprisingly good. They had a little kick to them, the steak was tender and the cheese was creamy. I then received my Cesar Salad. It was fresh. Lettuce and croutons were crispy and there was just the right amount of dressing. I chose the 12oz New York Strip steak and a baked potato. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly. They gave me some pepper corn cream sauce to top off the steak, but honestly the steak didn't need it. The potato was also cooked nicely. Far too often places overcook baked potatoes leaving that burned taste, but they got it right. Finally I finished with a slice of New York Cheese Cake. It wasn't the best cheese cake I ever had. The cheese could have been a little fluffier. It was the dessert that kept me from giving this place 5 stars. The service was top notch. We were greeted at the door by friendly staff and seated within a few minutes of our reservation time. The waiter kept our drinks full and made sure we were tended to. Despite the lack luster dessert, I would recommend this place if you are looking for good service and a great steak.

This steakhouse, an outpost of a chain, opened recently and we wanted to try it. On the evening that we went, we sat in the bar. There is a large bar area with dark wood-paneling. A number of bar stools sit against the bar. The bar area includes several bar-stool level tables seating 3 comfortably. The bar has a bar menu, but you can order off the regular menu. Sullivan's features steaks, but, given that this was post Thanksgiving, we opted for lighter fare. First, the wine list is adequate, but doesn't have as large (or as interesting) by the glass set of wine set of possibilities as Flemings and Morton's (its North Suburb competitors). Pours for wines by the glass are decent and not outrageously priced (but not a bargain). The shrimp cocktail consisted of 5 firm, "larger" shrimp. They were cold and were complimented nicely by the cocktail sauce (not as "Horseradishy" as some cocktail sauces). We ordered a iceberg wedge. While several dressings are available, we opted for the traditional blue cheese dressing. Portions were decent sized, but not land of the giants size that you might find at other steakhouses. The lettuce was crisp and cold served with chopped tomato (but not with bacon). I ordered a cheeseburger. It was cooked as I ordered it (medium well) and the juice was soaked up very nicely by the bun. I would order it again. The burger was accompanied by (homemade) potato chips. The chips were excellent and recommended. To balance the chips, we also split a side order of steamed asparagus. As noted above, it was the day after Thanksgiving and neither the bar nor the main dining area was crowded. Service was friendly and efficient. We would go back. I'm anxious to try the steak (there are a few steakhouses in the North suburbs to choose from; Morton's, Flemings, Pete Miller's, the Palm and EJ's-so, its nice to get another choice).

Our son graduated from the Navy Boot Camp at Great Lakes. We took him to Sullivans for a steak dinner/lunch to celebrate and it could not have been better. They treated use like royalty and gave us a framed picture of our party. The food was wonderful, the steaks were very tender and the atmosphere was lovely. Thank you Sullivans for making our day a little more special!

Thank goodness we had a giftcard to put towards this meal, otherwise it would have emptied our bank accounts! This place was very expensive, which is mostly because most everything is served a la carte. So on a giant white plate, I received only a small filet (better presentation necessary!). I can't complain about the steak itself, it was wonderful - just not worth the obscene price. My side was au gratin potatoes, which were just meh - definitely not worth the price. My fiancee got the meatloaf, which he later regretted - he said it was just meh. The service was good, but not great. We also noticed the music was very strange - a weird mix of 70s soul rock/jazz? Didn't fit with the atmosphere, and it was very distracting. Needless to say, we don't plan to go back.

Please use your own judgement on the rating, I will only give you the facts. On the menu, they had Pan-Seared Bass, we asked if it was Chilean Sea Bass, and they said yes. We ordered two. Chilean Sea Bass came out, and it was not Chilean Sea Bass and told them that it was not Chilean. And if it was, then we are mistaken, but the only way to prove that we are mistaken is that if they show us a certificate that they are serving Chilean Sea Bass, they probably thought we didn't know what we're talking about. Well, the chef came out and vouched it was Chilean, but couldn't show proof, and I told the Chef, you know and I know that this is not chilean. If it was Chilean Sea Bass then you would be able to show certification that your restaurant may serve Chilean. They may have been caught off guard, so they took out the Chilean out of our bill, the dessert and coffee. The service was spectacular, but I felt misrepresented, and now confused how I should rate Sullivan's. David, the waiter, the manager and the Chef were very nice and accomodating, even up to the point when I called them out. So use your own judgement. The service itself was 5 star no doubt.

Had dinner on the 5th of October, took 3 clients out to impress and have a great time still being able to sit outside...it took a waiter nearly 30 minutes to start us off with water, another 20 to get a drink...it was getting embrassing and these were clients...I asked if we can put our order in...the young man looked at me and my guests and said: I'm too busy right now...I'll have to find someone else to take care of your table, with that i went to the mgr. he found someone after awhile...we ordered, only to have two steaks well done, and the other 2 med well...I didn't want to complain the whole time in front of my guests but you could see they were aggravated...so they ended up taking one of the steaks off...still i walked out paying over 220.00 for horrible service..horrible food...called the very next day to speak with the same mgr...he couldn't say sorry enough times...then HE SUGGESTED please come back i'm sending you a gift certificate...I hadn't realized just how bad everything was yesterday...WELL, ASK ME IF I EVER RECEIVED MY GC...OF COURSE NOT...that just goes to show you how concerned they are for more business...it's a shame I really had liked the spot...oh well, many other steak houses out there...this will be my last time...k.d.

Awful !! Went for NYE went early to avoid the rush. Got 2 wait staff who were SO busy trying to upsell us on things that they couldn't get what we ordered right. Service was some of the worse we had EVER had and we eat out nightly. Service was beyond slow with little updates as to what was going on. Food came out luke warm after an 1 1/2 hour wait and one steak came out raw. Our waitress was so nasty I thought I was on a TV show being punked. Management didn't seem to care much either even after 3 converstations with them. They are new in town and they better even step it up or they will go the way of the other 3 restaurants who tried it in the same place. Don't know who dressed the bar staff who's skirts were tiny but this is the burbs not rush street. Won't be rushing back anytime soon. Bad food, worse service, crappy attitudes from wait staff to management. To many good places on the Northshore to waste your time or money here.

I'm often very critical of steakhouses being too pricey for the food or just not that great with flavors. I was surprised and impressed with Sullivan's. I felt like the pricing was fair and the good above average; the salads were good and the sides good too.

I give Sullivan's major points for responding to my bad experience from last month. They did call and seemed genuinely sorry about our experience. Makes you want to give them another shot.
