Johnny K's has one mean Gyro Platter! The Burgers and subs are A-OK too. Here's the skinny: Good Eats and the Gyro Platter is Ginormous! Old building... it's fairly well maintained though. Pac Man and Capcom v/s Marvel arcade games. Dine in has fast service & free refills. Drive thru is OK. Here's the fat: I've had a sub, some pasta,a cheeseburger, the Gyro Platter and most of their sides at some point or an other, I haven't found one that I didn't like. Now to the Gyro Platter, it's huge... giant... mega... I am NOT joking when I say that it feeds two people AND there'll be left overs. You get a whopping stack of meat, onions, tomatoes and Tzatziki Sauce. The only thing I do NOT like is the fact that they only give you TWO pitas to go with all that... and then they charge like $3 if you want two more. The building is old and has kind of a 80's feel to it. They keep in pretty well maintained it seems, bathrooms need some work but, not bad. tables and booths are the standard style, nothing fancy. The Pac Man and Capcom v/s Marvel arcade games are in the back of the dining area. I've played 'em a few times while waiting on my food to be brought to the table. Good times. The service here has always been fast and friendly for me, the drive thru could be faster though. Other than that, I'm sold. SYOY

PLEASE!!!!!! To all you people who haven't been to johnny k's yet......DON'T!!!!!!! GO TO PANO'S!!!!!!!!! I can't explain to you all enough how ridiculously expensive this dump is. Gyro meal is almost 10 bucks, yes that's what I said, Pano's is under 7. Don't forget that most of restaurants that sell gyros buy them from the same company which is Kronos, so how much of a difference in taste is there? .... NOTHING! !!! They have f'd up my order many times and when you call to let them know they put you on hold for a looooooong time. The old man owner is an asshole, he got mad at me because I returned uncooked chicken tenders and gave me an attitude. He first wouldn't acknowledge the mistake so I threatened to phone police, then he came to his "senses" and returned my money cause he didn't want to remake the order. The girls working there are ditsy and unprofessional, I don't want to walk into an establishment and get "honey" and "sweetie" verbally thrown in my face. You have to pay EXTRA for feta cheese when you order any gyro items. My wife's coworkers ordered for delivery to the job and have gotten the wrong food and when they called the employee said sorry because the person took a bite of their food. Hey people, how would you know if the order is right UNTIL YOU TASTE IT? ???!!!!!! To hell with johnny k's. See how I didn't capitalize them again? They're NOT worth it.

Went inside, the staff finally turned around, looked at me then turned back around. Didn't acknowledge me at all, I was the only one at the counter. I thought that was the most rudest thing you could ever do to a customer. I left.

Great smorgasbord of quality, precision, and love! The souvlaki, gyros, cold beer, and customer service are world class. Under this roof , lies a sensation that could calm the belly of a wookie named Chewbaka!

It's official for me. After several trips thru the drive-up and now having eaten inside, I'm a big fan. If u have the time, I recommend dining in for a meal. It's hard to tell how nice the staff is thru a voicebox and small window. Don't expect fine dining (of course) and cutting edge decor. The experience was quaintly old-school, from the free refills to Mrs. Pacman all the way down to the free children's dessert ice cream. I shared the gyros/souvlaki combo w my daughter and for $10.56 we were treated to a belt busting platter the two of us couldn't finish...wow! If you're gonna go Greek, skip the frat house and head straight to Johnny K's.

Order the Greek dishes they're great! I was a bit skeptical at first since I have grown up eating traditional greek food in Chicago. However I was visiting a friend wanted something other than the many chain resturants in the area. I ordered and I was wowed! Keep up the good work Johnny K!

My boyfriend placed a delivery order for us that had a salad with ranch. They ordered it wrong in their system and put garlic, which I never would have ordered. When I called to say I did not receive my dressing they were very rude to me and did not offer any help. Just told us we were wrong and hung up. I will not be going back.

Way too greasy for my taste and the tzatziki tasted like it wasn't fresh, but it still beats McDonald's right next door!

I eat from this establishment at least six times a month. Normally I love the food. They are fast and everything is so good. Although my experience tonight completely changed my mind. I ordered a corn dog meal with the lemon chicken rice soup. I tasted the soup and it was like biting into a lemon with every spoonful. Both corn dogs were burned and tasted horrible. Needless to say I called and complained. Jennifer the 'manager' was very rude to me and was surprised I had any complaints at all (i got this impression from the tone of her voice) I asked for a refund and was told that it's against company policy to give a refund. However I saw this policy nowhere on their receipt or website. So Jennifer offered to send my order out again. I accepted her offer but asked for French fries instead of soup. Guess what? The next order was even more burned than the last. So disappointed, I will not be patronizing this establishment any time in the near future!

Tried this place for the first time today, and after reading the other reviews I was a bit disappointed. We ordered the Gyro & Souvlaki combo, a rib tips dinner, and a greek salad. The food itself was alright, but they forgot to put in the salad dressing and the tzatziki sauce. Greek salad to me is all about the dressing and what is a gyro without tzatziki. The salad was supposed to be romaine lettuce and it was iceburg. I didn't realize all of this was missing from our order until we returned home, so I didn't make the 15 mile drive back to get it. Their customer service was good, and the prices not bad, but I couldn't give them more than 3 stars for the mistakes. We may try it again, but will never leave without completely checking the order.

Johnny K's is our go-to place when everyone wants something different! The Greek specialties arrive in generous portions and are well seasoned. I am a BIG fan of the Greek Chicken dinner and recommend the greek salad and greek potatoes as sides! Mr. Johnny has been known to correct a carryout mistake (missing feta) with a slice of delicious cake!

  • Anthony P.

The food is never a disappointment and is sure to please. It is quick service food that tastes great, has no wait staff so you don't *have* to tip, has a drive-thru and later summer hours. Everyone is serious about the menu being huge. I stand there, gawking, every time I visit. Nothing really that I don't like about this place.

  • Don D.

not bad for a drive thru place when your in a rush and want something a notch above burger town! Gyro platter is ample for a good apatite just remember to order a few extra pitas. and the greek chicken dinner is also a good choice. Overall a bit on the high price side of things but they have a large selection of menu items even if they are all just average in taste and presentation! Another good point is there open very late and it is a easy place to pull thru to get a late night bite on the way home after a night out.......

  • John T.

It always surpasses my expectations! The people that own this place are extremely friendly and the staff is always great about geting the orders correct. I like the portions and quality, but I absolutely love the choices. You cannot go wrong with anything you order. It is open very late, so you can always stop on by. I love their souvlaki pita dinner with the soup.

Well I've been having Johnny K's pretty often recently, and it's because the quality of the food has gone up drastically. Pretty much everything I've tried has been delicious. I'm not sure if they got new cooks, or the owner cracked down, or what. The salads are crisp, cold, and crunchy, the ribs are fall-off-the-bone delicious, the fish n chips was scrumptious with the tartar sauce...etc. I'm a fan again. It's nice to have a place like this around that has a very diverse menu that's close to home.

  • Leslie M.

We like Johnny K's, don't get me wrong. But, there isn't anything outstanding, nothing amazing. The food is pretty good, the hours are very good, even if you want a Gyros at 2 a.m. A lot of the food is kinda greasy spoon type food. I ordered the 3 layer grilled cheese this week and it tasted distinctly of Gyros, so I'm guessing everything is cooked together. I will give them a 5 on their delivery, though. The delivery driver not only remembered us from the last time we had ordered, which had been a while, and I don't think they've ever taken over 15 minutes to deliver anything. It's not somewhere I would choose given a lot of options on a free evening, but if it's a fast food night, they have some healthy options and it's pretty decent.

    (4)
  • Steven M.

Yes, they do have quite a large array to choose from. Everything that I have had was great. But Gyros is in the name and that's there game. These are the best outside of greek town. Your going to stink like garlic, but it's not going to knock anyone over. They also give you a large sack of fries. I'm all for big food. But they tried pulling a fast one. The gyros is a little smaller than it was the last time. I used to work for a restaurant supply house. And these places would downsize the plate, to give you smaller portitions. Nobody's crawling under the fence on my watch. Still, you get a lot for your money. This isn't a chain and it surely doesn't taste like one. At least they didn't compromise the food quality. Hats off.

Please Be Advised!!! I had the worst customer service experience ever. The owner went as far to tell me that he doesn't care if I patronize his business or not. How arrogant! I guess he feels that he has his regular patrons who are loyal to him and he doesn't care about new customers business. What happened was that I ordered a Grilled Chicken Ceasar Salad with extra dressing on the side. Normally, I would assume that someone in the restaurant business would know not to put the dressing on the salad, but I guess it was wrong to assume. By the time I got the salad home for my wife to take to work with here for her dinner, she opened it to find that the entire salad was ruined. The lettuce was wilted from being drenched in dressing and extra dressing, eggs were mushy with huge clumped romaine stalks staring her in the face. I contacted the restaurant immediately after witnessing this mess only to have the receptionist tell me that there was nothing that she could do to resolve this matter and that I should have requested for them not to put it on the salad when I ordered it. Really! I truly remember saying extra dressing on the side and furthermore, this was my first time ever trying a salad from here. How was I suppose to know that's how they make there's. Every other restaurant or grocery store (for that matter) that I ever puchased a salad from doesn't put dressing on them. So what makes them think that's acceptable! I asked the receptionist if there was someone in management that I could speak with to get this resolved and she told me that no manager's were there. What? I just know she didn't say that no manager was there, maybe not available at the moment, but not there! What kind of business are they running? So I politely asked if she could take down my name and number and have a manager call me ASAP, which she pretended she did. Never once did I receive a call, so after my wife brought it to my attention later in the week, I decided to follow up by calling them. I spoke to some lady who said that she was the manager and she told me that she was never informed of the matter and that my name and information wasn't in her complaint log book. Then she went on to tell me after I explained to her the scenerio that it's my word over her employees word so it nothing she can or will do about reconciling the matter. At this point, I'm extremely upset that they would be willing to lose a customer by calling me a liar saying my word against there's. I'm not that desperate for a free salad, I have money to pay for salad's! So I asked to speak with her boss (which I found out to be the owner) and she told me that he wasn't there. I was told that he would be there between 6 and 7 and to call back around that time, which I did! The owner immediately got on the phone all cocky and arrogant as I started explaining to him the situation. Before I could finish telling him, he rudely interupted me angrily telling me that he sells over 150 salads a day and that he doesn't care about 1 dissatisfied customer. He said that I don't have to ever come back to his restaurant again and can care less about me giving him a bad review. So here we are! The moral of the story is that Johnny K is not a good restaurant for simple matters of customer satisfaction and I would hate for anyone else to experince what I did without warning! A salad? What if was a gyro or anything else on there menu of value? Buyer's beware!!!

This place has everything. Seriously, we joke about it at our office. Although their name indicates that Gyros are the main item, their menu list is so extensive you forget about the Gyros altogether. From memory, their menu includes tacos, burgers, subs, wraps, gyros, and pies. Their subs are pretty good, similar to Subway. My coworkers really like their burgers. Their prices are fair, the food relatively quick. They have plenty of seating and a drive-through. Johnny K's is a good place to go if nobody can decide what they want.

So, SO dirty. Ice machine chute is black with mold, food left on the dining area floor, grease on most surfaces (salt shaker, door push bar, window shades). If we can't handle basic cleaning tasks, how are we managing to properly store and cook food? The prices are pretty high for what it is, ~$7-$12 per person for a meal type order. This place seemed to be just fine with the locals, but if you're from out of town and looking for somewhere to eat quickly, just go to McD's. It's cheaper, and usually safe and clean.
