First thing I didn't like is getting into the parking lot. Although Rt 59 would seem to be a primo location, the plaza Lou Malnati's is in is rather difficult to enter when travelling southbound. I had to drive a ways down the road and make a u-turn and go northbound to get into the plaza. Then, I noticed they had a large display of frozen pizzas available for purchase. A lot of them. I became really, really apprehensive. Then, I inquired how long it takes for a deep dish to be ready for take-out. The girl said 15 mins. Whoa! 15 minutes? That may seem great to some people, but being a former pizza maker myself, I know that you can't make a fresh handmade deep dish and have it ready for the customer in fifteen minutes. Impossible. But, you can prepare a frozen deep dish in that amount of time. I'm not implying anything here. I didn't visit the kitchen. But, when I see a large selection of frozen pizzas for sale. Then, a 15m wait for a deep dish..... I suspect this location is merely reheating frozen Lou Malnati pizzas for their customers. I can't prove it. But................. Now, how was the pizza. I'd say average. Nothing like the original downtown Chicago location. I was unimpressed.

Their Deep dish with mushrooms is absolutely amazing. Definitely recommend eating here over any pizza joints in the area.

I had the most amazing experience at the Shorewood location. I have always been a fan of Lou Malnati's. I love their pizza. On Friday night I called and ordered a pizza to pick up. As per normal a pleasant voice answered the phone. She took my phone number and called me by name. She read back to me the order I had last time and asked if. I would like the same. To me that is great customer service. I did not realize my bank card was not working. When I did discover this I explained to Nicole that I was very sorry and would not be able to pick up my order. Nicole smiled at me and told me it was okay and that she would pick up the pizza bill. I was absolutely amazed at the generosity in the caring consideration she gave to me. I hope the owners read these reviews because Nicole is someone you need to keep forever. That event has made me realize I will always be a Lou Malnati's fan! Great job! That is true customer service.

Of all of the Lou Malnati's I have tried, I think this one executes the deep dish "Lou" pizza best. The Lou has spinach, mushrooms, sliced roma tomatoes, three cheeses, and a butter crust. It is also a delightfully garlicy pizza. There is something so special about the combination of toppings on top of the cornmeal crust, I can see why the founder put his name on this pizza. I was just in here yesterday to pick up a small Lou (perfect for 2 people to share) and the place was packed. I hope the Malnatis will expand their presence in the area. Maybe Channahon or Morris next?.

Best pizza in the world! If I had one last meal it would be a Malnatis classic and a six pack!

What can be said about Lou's that hasn't been said before? It's the A+, number one example of what a Chicago style pizza should be and now it's in our backyard. We've ordered from here twice because we were so excited to see it come this close. We carried out once and delivered once, and both times the pizzas were ready/delivered on time and were just as good as I've had at any other Lou's. The staff was very friendly, especially for how busy they were this opening weekend. We generally don't eat pizza out that often, but Lou's will now be getting a good chunk of our business when we do!! FYI about this locaiton - it's carry out only. You can either get the fully prepared hot pizza, or save a few bucks and take home a frozen variant of your favorite and finish it off in your own oven. BTW, the frozen ones are VERY good.

Lou Malnati's serves the definitive Chicago style pizza...only the original Pizzera Uno (in Chicago) can compete with Lou's...

So perfect every time! the crust doesn't get soggy like most other places. Most people complain about pizza in the burbs- this is an exception

I'm not a fan of deep dish so I tried the thin crust. Greasy and disgusting...Fat Ricky's and Pizza for 'U' top this pizza in Shorewood/Joliet. Or if you want to spoil yourself go to Palermo's on 95th st. in Oak Lawn. Best pizza in Chicago!

I was expecting great pizza when I saw this location in the opening stages. We ordered the deep dish Lou and it was yummy and the ingredients were oh so fresh. We also ordered a thin crust which was just as good. The delivery driver was friendly and sported a Lou Malnati's shirt. We tipped him accordingly. Overall this place has it right thus far even to be such a new franchise. Such a breath of fresh air since there's not a lot of good pizza out here in suburbia.

They make an amazing pie here! I don't often give 5 stars to a chain establishment, which is a testament to how good their deep dish is. Every ingredient is eatable and of high quality, even the demographic that has a tendency of discarding the crust ends won't do it on a pizza from here.

We really enjoy Lou Malnati's Pizza! Always fresh and consistent pizza that is just as great the second day as it was the day of.

The Lou is our go to. We haven't tried anything besides it but that pizza is awesome. I don't suggest ordering online through mobile, sometimes it gets weird and has you start all over. Delivery time windows are usually pretty spot on, I've never waited more than a couple minutes over time, if any time at all

Supper good pizza was never a deep dish fan until tonight good sauce good amount of sausage and crispy crush first time having this pizza and will return !!!!

Unbelievable- 5.5 miles is too far for their delivery guys to travel? A paying customer denied service. Where I'm from, you can get delivery at least 10 miles away. Absolutely ridiculous!

Blehhhhh. I was very excited to see that this area would be getting this pizza chain! I ordered the first week the place opened fully expecting the same pizza I adored from Schaumburg. It was terrible! No one in the family could finish a piece. I decided that maybe opening day wasn't the best time to review them correctly. Maybe they hadn't worked out all the kinks just yet. But the next time I ordered, it took forever and the pizza was so bland. Much to my disliking, I ended up having to order it again for friends visiting from out of town. They heard there was a Lou's close by and wanted the Chicago experience that we had at the Schaumburg location. No one could believe this was the same Lou Malnati's. It was more like Lou Malnati's cousin's brother's sister in law's neighbor who kind of sort of "knew" Lou. And somehow he thought he could use his logo because Lou "would be cool with it." Honestly I'm pretty bummed out because I wanted to like it. I just didn't.

I did not get a chance to eat here but I will write them a review because of two things I walked in and the place was very clean and I had somebody at the counter who rendered great customer service but unfortunately I did not get to experience their food. This is a take out only establishment. There is no dining area take out only.

Absolutely Horrible!!!!!!! I ordered a large cheese deep dish pizza 3/3/15 evening. It took no time for the delivery. The pizza just tasted like cardboard, period! Based off the reviews, I thought it should be good, nope!! Will never eat from here again. Money wasted.

I got the Chicago Classic. WOW! Great sausage, love the tomatoes, and plenty of cheese. Good stuff! The medium is way too much for one person, but you gotta love leftovers.

  • Vaughn J.

The BF and I are definitely fans. When we don't feel like making pizza we have it delivered from here unless we are out shopping and decide to pick it up. The toppings are always fresh. The BF normally have the Chicago Classic (something like a meat lover's pizza) and I have The Lou (vegetarian). We've had to return the pizza a couple times due to it being undercooked hence the ratings. Outside of that I love the place but wish it was dine in.

Good pizza, but not same as downtown. Seems they do not put as much ingredients as in past. I would order deep dish, but thin crust needs more sauce, cheese and sausage. I have ordered thin crust about 6 times, and seems less cheese each time.

  • Michelle R.

The pasta sauce isn't all that great, and the wings also seemed to have a little to much fat on them for my liking. Also the food would of been hotter.

  • Monica B.

Everything we have ordered here has been delicious! I order here at least once per week. They take good care of their customers here and make sure they are happy! Will continue to be a regular !

A good deep dish pizza that has a crispy crust.

Had Lou's for the first time tonight and it was delish, ordered a a deep dish and the crust was perfect the sausage was great and by far the best sauce! Love it, my new favorite pizza!

  • Lawrence W.

Lou's carry out is some of the best deep dish around, it's not the downtown experience but, this is still the best deep dish around the Chicago area for sure! Try the Deep Dish Butter Crust is the way to go!

I will say years ago the north siders built up a big love 4 Lou's. Eventually it appeared in Elmhurst near where I lived. It was cold & avg @ best both times I had it. Fast fwd many yrs to several yrs ago when Lou's showed up in Shorewood. Pizza was finally warm, ingredients were fresh but mgr said 15 min for pick up? Huh. Must be frozen crust or reheated pie. Mediocre. So I take a several yr hiatus & order today. Finally now, it seems the deep dish has fresh ingredients, arrived warm, doesn't seem like re heated but, my new disappointment is deep dish at this place has over gone a size reduction. Not as thick, not as gooey w/ cheese. About 1/2 the density of what it used to be. Im wondering about the so called hubbub? Interestingly enough, about a yr ago my north side friend & I were working a job together & he brought in North side Lou's pizza purchased from the night before( Arlington Hghts?) & you know what? It was damn good . I could see what it probably was, eaten fresh. Ass kicking za! Still looking for Lou's near me to bring something to the table other than, undersized, underwhelming pizza! This is what everyone is happy with? Ill take my thin crust @ Armands any day!

Fast service. Waited 30 minutes for a deep dish pizza. Friendly service. Was greeted when I walked in to pick up, and I could understand her on the phone. Anytime I call Rosati's those kids answer the phone and talk like they've got the barrel of a gun in their mouth. Wish it was a little closer to home. And it didn't seem to have quite enough cheese for a deep dish pizza.

I was more than excited that Joliet was getting a Lou's! We formerly lived in the city and this was a casual walk from our apartment. Although it is take out/delivery everything was cooked perfectly and promptly, I didn't have to wait when I arrived which is above some other pizza places in the area. My family loves Lou's, especially their salads and thin crust :)

We ordered pizza for the first time from this place tonight and it was awful the crust is to crispy and sauce has no flavor

I've been eating Lou's for years and I have never been disappointed! Best pizza ever. This location is great! Clean and friendly, my only wish is that they would open up their delivery area a bit so I was in it! (I'm literally on the other side of the street!) it's ok though, the pizzas so good, it's worth the drive :)

Pizza is amazing. Don't ever get the pastas, was very disappointing, glad I ordered a pizza to eat cause I threw pasta in the garbage.

Hands down their Lou best deep dish pizza i have ever had. It is carryout/delivery only, but that works for me as both have had great service to me. Also, get their house (Lou's i believe?) salad. Their dressing is amazing! Their sit down establishments i have been to as well. Service great there and you may have a FEW more options to choose from, but overall, this carryout/delivery location makes it like you are dining out at your own home! Well done!

Best pizza I've had here, and been here for over 40 years, first time, and will return. Great service. On time and tasty.

I am rating this 3 stars- based on the lasagna I ordered from there. It was NOT GOOD at all!!! Mostly sauce covering a small portion of lasagna. Wasnt very good. It came with 1 small piece of garlic bread 'with cheese'. Which the cheese was stuck on the foil & it was hard & nasty. I wanted to try something different from there, being I usually get their pizza- which is amazing! But I know now to just stick to their pizza- which they're known for. There's other local Italian places to order my pasta from. I'll stick to that!

Excellent pizza. They have the best crust. Vegetables were very fresh, and their spinach mix is the best around. Haven't had Lou malnatis in years and it didn't disappoint.

  • Randi M.

I love Lou Malnati's, in my opinion it is the pizza of the Gods. I do not eat any other pizza......why waste the calories on something "mediocre". Besides the pizza the bruschetta is the best along with the Malnatti salad. I love you, Lou!

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
