Excellent gyros. We stopped here en route to Michigan and we're not disappointed. The gyros were flavorful and very generous. Delicious Greek salad and baklava. The location itself is counter-order and the seating is just booths and tables. They offer a few beers and wines as well. Nothing fancy here. But delicious food and it's fast!

  • Bobby S.

They have this peach green iced tea from the soda dispenser that is wonderful. You must get the whipped feta app. It is a spicy wonderful dance party on your tongue. The gyro is good, but they have the best cucumber sauce in Joliet.

Amazing gyros! Fantastic Italian beef sandwiches!!Very friendly and helpful staff!! Clean restaurant! They even packed food for us to take back to Kansas City!! Love this place!!!

Delicious food. The chicken gyros have been on point each time I have gotten them and they give you a decent amount of food for a fair price.. best random stop choice I ever made.

First visit for my son and I today. Good first impression. We both ordered the Gyros Combo, and one order of fried mushrooms (good portions but pricey at $25 and some change for the two average gyro sandwiches, two small square cartons of fries and 2 med soft drinks + a generous mushroom appetizer). We waited a good 13-15mins or so before our order came up. Food was good, but not great. Enjoyed the patio. Overall the place was clean and inviting. Nice staff, Wi-Fi and slot machines kept us entertained.

Review based on customer service experience They advertise delivery on their website. I called for delivery because I have a toddler going through that terrible 2 stage... They rudely told me my address is 7 miles from them and there wasn't anything they could do... When I googled the distance it said 3.3 miles... I live literally 6 minutes away if I take frontage Rd and avoid Essington... Word of advice, don't advertise delivery if you only have a delivery radius of one or two miles.

Got into town yesterday and went to Johnny's for a beef with Giardiniera today. I was not disappointed at all! Totally what I was craving. Dimitri was very kind as well.

Would have probably been great but the food wasn't hot at all when it got to my place and I'm only a couple blocks away.

  • Steve G.

We ordered 5lbs of beef for a party at house and I decided to add fries and a couple of those Big Daddy sandwiches. This was my first time and wanted to try a variety of things to fully gauge this place. We were all really impressed. The beef was great and all the guests ask us where we got it and we hardly had any left for leftovers. The big daddy was huge and delicious. We get them into fours and served as a little bit to try. We are definintely going back.

For some reason or another I found myself exploring the Joliet area. I looked up lunch spots in the area and voila.....Johnny's was on my Yelp search. I didn't know what to order at first, but when I saw, "The Big Daddy", which was world famous, I had to have it. Two beef patties, about half a pound of gyro meat, all on a delicious bun. Crispy on the outside soft and chewy on the inside all topped with delicious cucumber sauce, a whole lot of onion and cheddar cheese. Um yea.....need I say more? Alright I will, all accompanied by fresh cut fries and a Diet Pepsi. HAHA Yea cause the Diet Pepsi is going to save me from the fatness right? LOL The men at Johnny's were so nice! I went up took some pictures of their hilarious shirts and even got my free cookie brought to me by a Yelp Check In Offer. SCORE! Impeccable cleanliness and awesome staff. Really....I'm done speaking. Go see for yourself. The stars don't lie (and neither does my picture).

  • Josh B.

I love Johnny's! All the food I've had here is great! It's not a health food stop for sure, but you won't find better gyros in the area. I'm also a fan of the hummus and falafel.

  • Jay P.

We had big daddy burgers. I renamed them the big daddy oh my god burgers because oh my god is what I kept saying while eating it.

    (4)
  • James B.

Highly overpriced ($20 for 2 gyro plates no drinks!) and service sucked. I know it doesn't take 25 minutes to throw some gyro meat, a pita, and fries into a carryout container. No apology, or acknowledgement. First visit, likely the last.

    (2)
  • Jim L.

Took way to long to make a gyro and fries 25 mins to be exact. Been coming here for years and it just might be my last time. Very disappointed. I usually don't leave bad reviews but in this case I have to.

  • Alixx C.

I really enjoyed Johnny's hamburger and chili dogs. Just delicious. The fries were lacking as they were pretty bland. Great friendly service and some delicious chocolate chip cookies. I saw a review about their prices. Honestly it's great quality food. I didn't think they were badly priced at all. They have specials so if you are looking for a meal deal they are available. My new fave fast food place for sure.

The wife and I have lived in joliet since 2006 and have passed this place a ton yet never decided to go in until today when the wife had a craving a beef sandwich and there isn't a ton of good beef restaurants around So I order the big daddy sandwich, which is alleged world famous. The wife shockingly ordered a beef sandwich. Both of these came with fries. The kids got a couple of hotdogs and my daughter got a floor dog as she dropped hers on the floor. Now I did take a bite of the beef sandwich and the beef was really good. Nice and tender and plenty of taste. It was a little on the small side, which kind of sucks. They toast the bread which isn't really how a beef sandwich should be but that could be their thing. Now onto the world famous big daddy sandwich. I did not find this to be a famous sandwich. It's a hamburger with two patties and gyro meat in the middle. Now a lot of these joints like to serve char burgers but I have never been a huge fan of burnt meat. But anyway, this really isn't a great combination. The gyro meat is extremely delicious but should not be in between two patties. So what I am trying to say is that I can't see this being a world famous sandwich. Also, the fries were boring. The place itself was clean and the bathroom was ok. Kind of had a funky smell. The employees were also very friendly. It does take a little bit to get your food but they are cooking it right in front of you. Also, the prices might be a little higher but nothing outrageous. So in conclusion, this place, as you can see, gets three stars. The world famous sandwich isn't something I will ever get again. If I do ever go back, I will get a beef sandwich or gyros as they were really good. As I have only gone once, I can't say much about anything except with what I ate. And that's how the cookie crumbles.

Falafel is great. Hummus is solid. Salmon is solid. Service is good. Friendly employees.

  • Cassie M.

Tried this place for the first time today, the food was really good! I got the Italian beef and my boyfriend got a double cheese burger. Both were so good and we were very much pleased! The fries could be better but not too bad. It was busy when we came in, and I can see why. We will definitely be back!

    (5)
  • Diocelina G.

This joint falls from 5/5 stars due to the accuracy of their orders being delivered. There have been times that they don't deliver the order complete or didn't put the cheese on the side etc. If the staff were more attentive it'd be a better place.

    (4)
  • Alisha M.

Ok the gyro is good but not the best and the portion size is SOOO small. Like maybe 5 strips of meat. Go to tasty bites!!

    (2)
  • Matt W.

Had the chicken pita. Wasn't bad, but they really put a lot of cucumber sauce on it, so much so, that you feel there really isn't anything else on it (couldn't even see the tomatoes). Still felt it was tasty and VERY reasonably priced. They have a sign for wi-fi but it does have a password, so remember to ask. Finally, the lunch rush from the college did slow down the order some, took about ten minutes for the food, so keep that in mind.

  • Talha S.

An unexpected pleasant surprise :) I was stuck in the worst traffic on the freeway, and was desperately in need of a place for good food. I didn't expect anything in Joliet, but this place offers amazing food in quantity and quality.

  • Southside C.

I was driving down 55,usually, I would stop by McDonalds, but thought I would go someplace else in Joliet. Definitely, a very good cheeseburger with fresh vegetables, the fries were perfect. So, I recommend that if your in the area, forget the fast food places, and go here.

    (5)
  • Dan E.

very good cheeseburger. solid Italian beef. Not as good as portillos. fries well below average. theyre the thick, mushy fries. my biggest complaint is the portion size. $18 for two meals. a meal at one of these places should fill you up to the point where you're going to burst. The beef sandwich was no more than 6 inches in length and most guys could probably eat two of them. gotta give more Johnny!

  • Tiffany K.

I went here a few weeks ago. I got a Gyro and it was pretty good. My boyfriend got the "Big Daddy Burger" but he wasn't to impressed with it. We plan to go back and try different items. It was a litle high priced for the amount of food you get tho.

    (3)
  • Kevin B.

After driving by Johnny's for 5 years I finally stopped in for lunch. The food was good, service was quick and the prices affordable. I'm going to be making Johnny's a more regular stop.

My hubby and I are huge gyro fans and have been looking for a good place in Joliet fo find one. Johnny's is the place! HUGE portions and delicious!

    (5)
  • Peter N.

Had italian beef with cheese and hot peppers. They used a stick of fried mozzerella rather than shredded cheese - looked strange at first but still tasted great. Beef and au jus had excellent flavor. Only real ding was that the fries were completely unsalted. I get that some people are "salt conscious" but still, if you're eating at a hot dog joint you've got to expect that.

  • Greg S.

A solid lunch spot. Dogs are very good - service is quick and borders on friendly

  • Miss B.

Tried the gyro platter here...it was pretty good. I got the order to-go..there was alot of meat, probably could have had more fries and less meat because it won't all fit on the pita, but I'm not complaining. The fries were good, the slaw was good. People were nice, place looked clean. I would recommend this.

    (4)
  • Jim W.

I only gave them four stars because I haven't even begun to enjoy everything on the menu. The Italian beef & chicken pitas are so good, that's all I order

Good hummus and possibly the best falafel in Joliet. French fries were top notch as well. Friendly to vegetarians!

  • Darla W.

This is one place we will keep going to as long as we live in the area. When we moved my husband was determined to find a worthy Italian beef place, and we found it. I like that they have a variety of foods that my daughter and I can enjoy as well. Everyone is friendly and the place is always clean!

  • Jim A.

Great place to eat lunch. I have driven past this place for five years to and from work and nothing ever enticed me to stop in. I hired a new employe who had been going to this place for a wile and he suggested we try it for lunch. Wow was I surprised this place is great. The food is fantastic and the staff is very nice. They have a lunch punch card which is also great. It looks very clean inside. I would suggest this place to anyone who needs a new lunch spot. I will be returning many times. The only down side is they don't have a drive-thru.

Great place. Simple good food. They can keep the dining tables cleaner but other than that, it's a winner.

  • Johnny T.

Holy Crap!, I can't believe it took me this long to try it. Has been at its current location for a few years and it didn't look any different from your typical greasy burger joint, but don't let that stop you. The Big Daddy Burger is what brought me there. What a great idea to combine a burger and a gyro into one sandwich. Its a double cheeseburger with gyro meat and onions inbetween the beef patties and topped with either barbecue or cucumber sauce. Inside was very clean and already had a few patrons dining in. Service was very good and its a family ran establishment, which is always a plus in my book. The burger itself goes for $5.49 and $8.49 if you include a 20 oz. drink and fries. I already had a feeling it was going to be good (like 4 stars good) but, it turned out to be more like 5 stars good. For a sandwich with so much meat, I liked how the shoestring-thin onions and barbecue sauce really stood out in the flavor category. The barbecue sauce had a watery texture and tasted as if it was made there. I hope the big daddy burger ends up there with the likes of the poorboy sandwich (a popular sandwich in Joliet) because I can see a lot of people going for it. Great job!

Food was good, but pricey - almost $9 for a beef, fries, and a drink.

    Chicken Gyros!

  • Cheryl S.

Outstanding! I had the Italian Beef with fried mozzarella and hot peppers, and it was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Not only that, but the french fries were excellent - hot and crisp on the outside, tender inside (and yes, salted - don't know what happened with Peter N.'s fries). The fryer oil was obviously fresh, as the fries were very light in color, with no off-taste from old oil. My husband had the tuna steak sandwich, and he said it was very good. They have a great selection of food - beef, chicken, fish, and vegetarian. Service was fast and friendly. Definitely worth going a bit out of your way to go here (unfortunately, I live 1300 miles away, and that's a bit too far to go). Hope I'll get back through this area again in the future.
