I tried this place on the same day as Home Cut and agree their donuts are much better. They were also bigger. Comparing the Boston Cremes as an example, the Den version was far lighter and about 30% bigger but still had a pretty boring creme filling. The difference in other donuts was also the dough. In comparison to other donuts I've had at other places, the Den is in the top third but still nothing special. If I were in the neighborhood again, I would stop in, but it is not worth a special trip.

Just amazing! I only break my diet for a good white cream filled donut and they fit the bill. My husband had the fritters and was thrilled at the flavor. Wonderful!

The best... Get here early though if you want to pick from a selection of great donuts. I got there at 10:30 on a sunday and there was a variety of about 6..... Did I mention to get there early. Tip: Look for the day old donuts. Still great and about half the price.

I've never had anything but a super moist, fresh, sweet, delicious, fluffy, beautifully assembled donut from Donut Den. Best Long Johns in the area. The sour cream donut is delish. We also regularly get the Oreo, Chocolate cake, the best pumpkin donut I've had so far and I've had a lot. Oh! The French toast is so good. My husband also had a custom Oreo and peanut butter donut cake mad for my 30th birthday. Topped just like my favorite voodoo donut. It was so special and personal. The staff was very happy to make the custom order for my husband and informed him they would be more than happy to do it again. You can tell the baker loves what they do.

Yes, these are the best donuts I have ever had. And, its hilarious to hear the heated discussions about the 'Price is Right' from the "Seniors" inside that seem to be permanent fixtures. The staff is meh, ok but I really don't go for the service or ambiance. Just give my key lime pie donuts and I'll be on my way!

  • Carolyn T.

These donuts are the best that you can get !! They are pillowy soft, super fresh, and larger than most other donut stores. Once you try these, you will never eat at Dunkin Donuts again.

Dear donut den I'm sorry. Why am I apologizing you ask? I'm sorry that I have lived about 5 minutes away from you for 8 years and haven't once been there until today. I'm sorry that i thought you closed earlier in the day. And I'm sorry that I wouldn't support a business who makes one of the best donuts I have ever had in my entire life. I'm sorry that your employees were not rude at all and one of the best I've ever dealt with at a place of business. As you can tell, this place is amazing. It was hard to pick which one to try but I tried the Oreo one while my daughter had a glazed and my wife had the French toast. Now the Oreo one wasn't all that great, believe it or not. But it was the Oreo that I didn't like so much, as maybe it just doesn't belong on a donut according to my taste buds. However, the donut itself was so good, that I could have just eaten it by itself. The glazed donut taste just as good, if not better than Krispy Kreme. Didn't think they existed around here but realized that other businesses can make them just as good. Now since I wasn't able to decide which one, we decided to take 6 different ones home. Maybe it was just a good day for donuts but each one was pretty damn good. Apple pie, crumb, glazed again, pumpkin, and maple. The pumpkin, I thought was the best out of the 6 and I'm not a huge pumpkin person. So you would think with food so good that the service was horrible or the person helping you was so extremely rude that you just do not want to go back. Also not the case. The lady that helped us, couldn't have been 30, was very welcoming and extremely nice. She gave us suggestions and helped us getting some donuts for our son's upcoming apple celebration at school. Now if these apple fritters are horrible, will I change this review? No because if it's like the rest of the donuts, they won't be horrible and probably be the best apple fritters I have ever had. In conclusion, go to this place. I have written reviews for places that are local and are extremely awful and won't go back. This place will not be one of those. I don't give 5 stars often so this is highly recommended and I should be punished for not going here sooner. They wouldn't have missed my business anyway, but now they will have to suffer from me coming here whenever I have a taste for donuts.

These donuts are delicious!! Found this gem of beauty by my home. Never knew it was there!! I took a picture to show how good the donuts are so its missing one that I just ate lol Overall try this place if you are a big fan of donutsThe customer service is also great!! They are warm and friendly and I shall be back!!

This place is really good.. But I would still rather go to Home Cut Donuts. The reason is I got this donuts from this place and my husband got donuts from Home cut and the ones from Home Cut were still good for the next 2 days but from Donut Den is was stale the next day. Also I notice Home Cut has way better coffee.

Stopped by the Den on a whim after paying a bill at Comcast. Great service, and really tasty donuts. I'll be back soon.

I came here after reading the rave reviews. I grew up on Home Cut but never thought it was as amazing as everyone else thinks. I bought a half dozen chocolate varietals: an Oreo, a couple double chocolate, a couple sprinkle, and a Boston creme I gave to sister. The double chocolate tasted like there was chocolate pudding in the cake. It was awesome! Best donut ever!!!

I tried Donut Den's wares at Donutfest yesterday in Wicker Park. Their French Toast donut offering was fantastic and my third-favorite donut from the event. As I told the owners later, I wish Joliet was closer to town because I would be a regular at this place if I could get out there regularly. Thanks for sharing your fine pastry wares at Donutfest; I hope to get out to your shop eventually to try them on your turf.

  • Yocelin S.

From the smell when you drive up early in the morning to the home-y coffee shop feeling when you walk in, this place is simply the BEST. The donuts melt in your mouth, the cinnamon rolls are sooo gooey and delicious. Their donuts make Dunkin's freshest donuts feel stale and their selection beats Home Cut's ANY DAY. Their staff is super courteous and genuinely friendly and they are reasonably priced.

  • Mark G.

WOW! WOW! WOW! A guy I work with recommended this place when I was talking donuts with him at work one day. I went this morning and could not believe how amazing these donuts were. I ended up eating half a dozen myself. There are plenty of great traditional favorite flavors and some donuts flavors I've never heard of before (French Toast Donut is awesome!). People were very friendly, atmosphere inside is cozy if you want to eat there, and the donuts can not be beat. I recommend you take note of their hours before going late in the day as I believe they close at 3PM or something like that. Wish they were open later, but oh well. As some of the larger chain donut places have gone to a centralized system of making their donuts off site and then trucking them in to their stores for "dunkin" they have really lost quality. Donut Den makes their donuts in plain view and they are FRESH AND DELICIOUS!!

  • Gregory G.

People.....this place is a hidden Gem! I went to the Comcast Service Center and decided to pay a visit. I ordered a dozen and was given a few extra, well the dozen didn't make it home only the few extra. I couldn't believe how wonderful they tasted, none on that plastic taste you get from Dunkin and Krispy, their donuts were unbelievably delicious. If you want to make friends at the office take a few dozen with you. Now they are an early morning establishment, from 7am to 4pm.

  • Subhash T.

Good donuts, had the Boston cream and chocolate glazed. Soft, slightly chewy, and great glaze. What is really great about this place is the service with a smile, which is becoming rare these days. I am not talking about fake "hello, welcome to so n so, how is your day going" but real genuine welcoming hospitality.

  • Johnny T.

I had to come here after hearing of their ingenious donut variations. Thinking that these flavors were either only offered on certain days or sold out fast, I specifically got myself out of bed at a reasonable (early) time to go to Donut Den. The location looks as if both stripmalls don't get much foot traffic. Much to my surprise, they had the salivating flavors that I wanted to try so bad. I got 3 each of the French toast twist, cheesecake, Boston creme, double chocolate, oreo, and maple donuts. Didn't really spot the maple bacon, but assumed that it was only made on a certain day. $18 for 15 donuts was cheap on my book. The daily special when I was there was the pineapple coconut. All of them were very good. The French toast twist, cheesecake, and Boston creme were the standouts among the rest. I still can't believe a place actually makes these unique, out of the box flavors!

I came here with my boyfriend the other day and overall we were impressed. I don't eat donuts, but my boyfriend said they were awesome. He tried three different kinds and said they were all good. Much better than Dunkin Donuts, which seems to have taken over in this area. I got a vanilla latte which was pretty good and my boyfriend got a cappuccino. He said it tasted good, but the lady making it clearly had no idea what a cappuccino was. She told us it was just coffee with a shot of espresso in it. Traditionally cappuccino is prepared with espresso, hot milk, and milk foam. Once they straighten out their confusion on espresso drinks I'll have no problem giving this place 5 stars. Overall I'd recommend this place for donuts, but for coffee I'd stick to Starbucks.

  • Bobby S.

What can I say? The glazed was wonderful. The Key Lime rocked my world. But, the Boston Cream was ok. It is truly a den. It is a quaint place. I am looking forward to trying more.

Holy Amazeballs, Batman! This place is the real deal. The smell of deliciousness hits you immediately when you open the door. I'd heard about this place, and driven past it a couple of hundred times. This time, I went in. I asked what was good, and some friendly patrons had suggested "Their cake donuts are good, but the yeast donuts are to die for". They weren't kidding. While they offer the traditional fare, they also have bacon-maple cake donuts. I ordered a dozen, and was sent home with 15! Can't beat the prices either. You'll pay a couple bucks more than Dunkin, but you're actually getting REAL food, made on premise. Can't go wrong here. Donut Den, you have a new loyal customer. Look out, this girl comes hungry!

This is it. I've found it. The perfect south surburban donut shop. It took me nearly 7 years, but it was worth the wait. They have something for everyone. My favorites were the sour cream old fashioned and the bacon maple long john. We got 6 donuts for less than $6. Every single one was perfection. The staff here was super nice. Can't wait to go again!

  • Kathryn S.

Oh, man, do I hate doughnuts. They're always heavy, greasy, and way too full of sugar. But wait! I bought a dozen from this little place in a strip mall on Theodore St., and brought them to work for my crew to enjoy. I had a bite of the French Toast donut, and WOW! Cinnamon, maple frosting, and powdered sugar. The doughnut itself was light and fresh, and I will never eat a doughnut from anywhere else. These guys are the best.

  • Zach H.

This place has the best donuts I've ever had. I don't really even like donuts but I'd eat these every day. The layout and decor can use some updating but who buys a donut for seating or art. You buy one heck you buy 12 to share at work or scarf down in the car in a moment of self defeat. These are the donuts to do that with!

    (5)
  • Breeze Y.

Fresh and really inexpensive. I bought 2 dozens with a variety of everything. The new york cheesecake & caramel taffy apple are to die for!

  • Lupe G.

So I got my chance to dine in for the first time & OMG; this place is surreal! It really looks like the 60's! The donuts cannot be any tastier than freshly baked & eaten right on the spot! I also tried their turnovers & I can tell you from experience that this place makes them the best because they aren't just baked; they taste like they were fried in real butter! I can't wait to go back! THANK YOU FIANCE!!!!

Consistently OUTPERFORMS Homecut! Having said that, Homecut is a phenomenal donut shop! I love them! So what does that do for Donut Den? They are a cut above any other pastry/donut store Ive been to! From their gr8! service to fresh pastries daily along with a competitive price & always rotating selection w/ often something new, they are special! Your truly missing out if you dont check this place out. Its worth a stop.

Best doughnuts ever! Absolutely love this place. The doughnuts are out of this world. There should be a Donut Den in every state. The New York Cheesecake doughnut is my favorite. The filling is absolutely delicious. Any doughnut you pick is guaranteed to be delicious. I have never picked out a doughnut I didn't like. The staff is helpful and friendly and early in the mornings there is usually regulars enjoying their morning doughnuts and coffee. If you haven't tried their doughnuts yet it's definitely worth your time and money!

Best donuts and coffee in town! Apple Fritter Friday and Saturday Maple Bacon bars are the best! Awesome staff.

  • Mark R.

First, let me say, I am a donut SNOB. Rarely do I find a donut worth eating. Most times its either too small, too sweet, not yeasty enough. You can always get an average donut from your grocer, Dunkin' Donuts, and other types of places so if you decide to go into the donut business you have to be AT LEAST as good as those guys. Donut Den exceeded my expectations. In fact, i think it exceeds lots of peoples' expectations as the line out the door is a frequent occurrence. From the classic glazed to the bacon topped vanilla long john - they have it mastered. I love these 70s style donut shops that have not modernized. You don't go there to be impressed with the atmosphere... you go there to get an awesome donut. The coffee is mediocre, but OK. I'm a coffee snob - but that is another story. For this review, give Donut Den a try.... thank god this place is 30 minutes from my home or I would gain 30 pounds.

We have been to the Donut Den several times and each time never disappoints. ?They always have a wide variety of donuts and seasonal favorites. Service is very quick and friendly. I would highly recommend the Donut Den to anyone who wants a great tasting donut and more than ordinary selections.

Donut Den was so much cooler than I thought it would be. Located in a strip mall off of Theodore Street, there isn't much going on in the area at all. Be forewarned: Donut Den opens at 4:00 a.m., but they do not have a closing time posted. I decided to check this place out on a Friday around noon, just before I headed to the Joliet Emission Testing Station. When I walked in, there were still plenty of donuts available. I was starving, and since I had no idea how long I'd be waiting for my emissions test, I took three donuts to go. The New York Cheesecake was my favorite! I love filled donuts, so I also ordered the Key Lime Pie. I missed the graham cracker texture/flavor with this donut, but it was still really good. The Double Chocolate was kind of disappointing. The cake was dry and the chocolate wasn't "chocolate" enough to justify the name. I spent about $4 on three donuts and a bottle of water. These donuts are definitely superior to Dunkin, and because of location alone, I'd be more likely to return here than Home Cut. They also rotate a donut of the day flavor. Friday's was Apple Fritter, but I didn't see any in the case and I'm sure that I'll never find a better fritter than Old Fashioned, so why try? There's also a cozy area with a beat-up looking sofa and chair, and several elderly men were hanging out here enjoying their coffee and donuts. For a Friday afternoon, this place sure was hopping!

  • Giorgia C.

I was wrong. Donut Den is amazing and the best in town. On Saturday, I had their absolutely ridiculous good maple bacon long john. Can't stop thinking about it. I don't even eat bacon normally. Is it Saturday again yet??
