If you are traveling and don't feel like eating at a McD's or a Tacobell/KFC, try Lu-Bobs. Its a run-down little diner with ripped upholstery, but the food was decent priced well. When I'm on the road, I'll look for anywhere I can get a non-greasy meal with some non-fried vegetables and this fit the bill. Grilled salmon with green beans (non-vegetarian) and mashed potatoes for under $10, didn't blow me away but for a Hamilton I've had much worse. Pie wasn't too bad either. Considering your options in Greenville, IL its a good place to stop.

What a hole in the wall that was full of surprises. We stopped by this place late at night on our way out west. It looked dark and dirty, but it was open. We dropped in and it indeed was dark and dirty, it even had an odor of a wet basement. But we were hungry and it was open. Here is where we where surprised. The waitress was exceedingly nice and helpful and the home made pizza was quite delicious! We got a large Pepperoni & Sausage and four drinks and it only cost us $11!!! So, the place was a dump but the food was A-OK!

I have eaten here once. The place was crummy on the inside (I just wonder how crummy the kitchen is, makes me wonder), torn seats, etc. The food was ok. Nothing to write home about.

This is an awesome little diner. Off route 70 past the overpriced foot high pies place. Take the Greenville exit and go south it will be on the left hand side. They have great blue plate special food and also serve pizza. I have only had the Chicken fried steak. It is excellent. My kids all enjoyed it as well. The pies were to die for. My coconut cream pie was home made there. They do sell out. Pleace your order with drinks and apps.

The employees are kind. The food was poor quality. The restaurant was old and there was a lot of noise. Overall I wouldn't come here again. The berry pie didn't taste good with "ice cream" soft serve like from a machine. Cheap tasting. The prime rib sandwich was way too small.

This place is absolutely filthy, worn out and run down. The carpet had years of ground in filth an crap all over the floor. The rest room was dirty. The last straw was when the roach came strolling accross the floor. That totally killed my appetite. My husband's chicken livers were fried to death and what I was able to eat of my fried chicken left a greasy taste in my mouth I would definitely skip this dive. I gave this one star because it would not let me post a zero.

One of my favorite places to eat in Greenville and relatively inexpensive too. Employees always friendly and I almost always bump into at least a few people I know.

Four of us stopped in Greenville last Saturday evening. Stumbled upon Lu Bob's. We lucked out. First - the service was outstanding - young blond, Morgan, was such a good waitress! We had questions - is the gravy any good? She responds with a sample, and, it is absolutely the best roadside gravy I've had. Fried chicken was a home run, but, the milk gravy on the wonderful mashed potatoes made it a grand slam! The pecan cinnamon roll was literally the icing on the, well, the cinnamon roll - wonderful. As was the blackberry pie - outstanding! By the time we left we were friends with Morgan and her grandparents, who were dining there, also. A wonderful experience. A wonderful waitress. Can't wait to go back!!

Major disappointment, especially after it held so much promise. Now understand, we will pick a small family owned restaurant any day over a chain; usually the divier the better. The retro sign pulled us in. Classic! Next, the retro Syracuse coffee cups and the groovy laminate on the table top. Waitress's t-shirts boasted "home of the home-made food". Our expectations skyrocketed!! First decision was the "home-made biscuits 'n gravy". Have been on a quest on a 60 mile radius for great biscuits and gravy. Well, good thing the menu didn't include the word sausage cause there was none, nada. Home-made gravy may have meant they added their own water to the pasty mix. Waitress (very nice by the way) asked me how I wanted my breakfast steak cooked, which was humorous because it was no thicker than a sliced ham so there was only one way to cook it. American fries, requested extra crispy, still had cold centers. Sigh . . . Oh, and we didn't even get to drink coffee out of the uber-cool cups. They're evidently just for looks. Modern mugs were delivered to the table. Give this place a pass and stop at the Huddle House next door if you're that hungry. Otherwise, keep driving.

Soup to die for! The obviously homemade and totally delicious vegetable soup was piping hot and very very good. The meatloaf was edible and so over microwaved that it was rock hard on top and the green beans were right out of the can. Obviously a frozen and reheated product as was my husband's "chicken fried steak" which was directly from the local high school cafeteria with some really AWFUL instant mashed potatoes. It was a total disappointment until the pies which got them the second star. The blackberry pie (and the others) are made there and are fabulous. It was so good that I got a second slice to take home (which didn't see the sunrise). It was crammed with fresh, plump and perfectly ripe blackberries--way more berries than I expected and it was extremely delicious. I hate getting pie that is all thick filling and no berries but that was NOT the case here--it was CHOCK-FULL of huge blackberries!! It was a steal at $3.15 a slice, $3.95 with ice cream. The second slice was the same way when I ate it later. If I owned this place I'd do breakfast till 3 pm and pie, ice cream and coffee to closing and scrap the prefab frozen stuff. Our waitress was a sweet girl, as nice as she could be and a very good waitress, our iced tea glasses were never empty, and our food came out promptly and she offered to warm the pie and put ice cream on it but I don't like hot fruit pies. Here's the breakdown: Service: 5 stars! Seriously! Pie: 5 stars! Soup: 4 stars. Entrees: ZERO stars. UGH--truly awful. I would give it a shot for breakfast though and I'd crawl 10 miles on my belly over broken glass for another slice of that amazing blackberry pie! I'm going to have to try some of the other flavors, they had about 10 different kinds of pie: Blackberry, chocolate cream, banana cream, pecan, coconut cream. cherry, and apple are all I can remember though. It's a dive with lumpy seats, friendly service and great pie! John (beloved husband) said the place smelled just like his grandma's house and he was right but we'd still go back just for the pie.

What a great little place right off the 70. The chicken fried steak special was tender and delicious. Excellent service and WiFi was available. I would stop and eat here again if/when I come back thru.
