Okay, I was a little harsh on this place when I first reviewed it. I admit, it is dirty, but I think it's only because it is crazy busy all of the time! Literally, all of the time. All the young people who work there have good attitudes--at least the dudes--and we always get good service. The ice cream is always good, and the lemon raspberry smoothie is the bomb! Kapow! So I really can't complain too much about a little stickiness :)

We've been going to Cold Stone Creamery for years and adore it. The ice cream and ingredients are the freshest money can buy, and there's nothing better than coming up with creative and delicious combinations (such as our current favorite, which we call Banana PB Cream Pie and consists of sweet cream ice cream, banana, peanut butter, almond, marshmallow and brownies). So why only 3 stars? This location is always filled with loud, rude teenagers (of course, so is all of downtown Elmhurst), and the employees seem like they couldn't care less. The wait is long, the tables are sticky, and the place has just generally gone downhill. Also, like I said, we like to make our own combinations. Usually, if we get four ingredients, they charge us for a creation, and they charge us per topping after four. Now, they charge us something like $3.50 for ice cream with one topping, and then nearly $1 for each additional topping. The result is that our average custom creation now costs about $2-$3 more than it used to. $8 is WAY too much for a cup of ice cream, no matter how good that ice cream is. If they go back to charging us how they used to, which made sense, there's no doubt about it... even with the slow service and poor upkeep, I'd still give it 5 stars. But I can't justify how much we're being charged now.

i love the germanchökolätekäke®, best ice cream ever created........... a bit pricey but its worth every cent for every bite...... Cold Stone Creamery in Elmhurst is very clean and bright and welcoming area, they even have a nice hd or lcd tv there and private freezer for ice cream cakes and even packaged store ice-cream too, also lot of options to get there and lot of candy and cup or different waffle cone add on assortments and make your own custom ice-cream combinations... ITS REALLY GREAT....

It was a coworkers birthday so we splurged and bought a coldstone cake and cupcakes. We generally stop at Marianos, but this was a great choice!!! The owner was so friendly!! He gave us a free pie. And that mint chip pie was on point. My favorite for sure. My one coworker likes to eat plain waffle cones so he gave her one of those too. We walked in a good day hahha. We'll definitely be back for other office birthdays!

This place is awsome! The Oak park location does not serve Oreo Cream filling. This place does. The workers are real friendly and always willing to check in the back if they have icecream that is not in the front. I now tried the Cinnamon icecream. I love the Cinnamon and Oreos Cream filling together. I go often for the variety of icecream and the service. I hope they don't stop selling the Cinnamon and Oreo Cream filling!

My wife had a really bad experience with the owner/GM outside the store walls, he was not a pleasant person and had a pompous arrogance about him that has kept us from coming through the doors of this coldstone. With all the other places around town, we had no need to walk into this Ice cream haven. Recently had a date night with my daughter and she really wanted to give it a try...and we did. And it was a pleasant experience. Marci was our Ice cream guide with a darker skinned young gentleman working his coldstone magic. Both these folks were friendly and helpful and made it easy to order...almost made me forgot about the reason we wouldn't walk in before. I must admit, with the great service and quality product, chances are we'll be expanding the waistline more than once in this creamery! Just hope if the GM is there, his second impression isn't of deuchery.

Friendly and fast service today. We get the emails for Cold Stone and today is National Ice Cream Day and we were emailed a buy one get one free coupon so we decided to drive to Elmhurst and indulge. I was just in California and had THE BEST Caramel Latte ice cream at the Cold Stone there (Seal Beach), and so we called ahead to see if they had it at this location in Illinois. They said yes on the phone but when we got there they didn't have it. I think they were confused because have a drink/shake that is Caramel Latte. Oh well. I ended up getting the coffee ice cream mixed with caramel and with chocolate chips added in- it wasn't quite the Caramel Latte flavor I adored in CA but it was still very good, especially in a waffle bowl. They have an Oreo cream flavor which I thought was weird but my husband loved it with toasted almonds. Delicious ice cream and unique flavor combinations at Cold Stone. Enjoy!

Cold Stone is threatening my waistline! The Elmhurst store is right around the corner for me and I've had to work hard not to make a daily trip over there - I love the ice cream, the shakes and all the add-ins, of course, but the staff at Elmhurst are so friendly and helpful that I think this store is very special! Something good is always going on at Cold Stone!

There is nothing like homemade ice cream. They literally make the stuff fresh in their kitchen. I placed an ice cream cake & ice cream cupcake order for my daughter's birthday. Everybody loved it and it tasted great. I highly recommend this particular Cold Stone for all occasions. The manager and staff are customer friendly..

Ordinarily I wouldn't bother reviewing Cold Stone because at this point everyone knows about it. It's not the best ice cream you'll ever have, but it's still really good and it has the added bonus of always trying to add new crazy combinations to come up with something really special. Cold Stone is part of the American zeitgeist right now; it'd be like trying to review Wendy's or something. It doesn't need a review, people just know. But we got some service at the Elmhurst location that made me feel like they needed special attention. My wife and I found a coupon online and decided to treat ourselves to some ice cream on a hot Saturday afternoon. There was one problem. The coupon wasn't working, or instead it was working to well. It was telling the woman at the register that we were owed $99.99, which, while awesome, wasn't the case. So she called what I assume is the owner since the Elmhurst store is a locally owned franchise and he said they had copies of a coupon that featured an identical offer and that our cashier could just use that code instead of the one on our coupon. After she was done, the owner then handed us said coupon to use another time. Then he gave us a second one. In a lot of cases I've run across business who treat people with coupons like they've got the Scourge and will do everything in their power to say they can't honor that coupon for whatever reason. When a place goes out of its way to honor said coupon and then give you extras to compensate for the inconvenience, that deserves special recognition. The economy sucks right now, and coupons are often the only thing that allows a lot of people to enjoy a nice little extra like ice cream. The owner of the Elmhurst Cold Stone's recognition of that fact will get us back there a little more often than we had in the past.
