Angelo’s Ristorante Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Sorry Matt, but methinks not..... different strokes for different folks I guess.... My coworkers and I went here for the lunch buffet. Do not ask me what we were thinking... all-you-can-eat anything is never usually a good idea. And a good idea it certainly was not! Their lasagna tasted like Lean Cuisine... flavorless and limp. The marinara was like melted red crayons, and that's a generous comparison. Any vegetable offering was drowning in pools of oil and the fettuccine alfredo was grey. We all left feeling sick and dirty. This place needs a good cleaning but of course that doesn't remedy the issue of the food. Fortunately, Elmhurst has a much nicer and much tastier Italian restaurant waiting for us in the wings... and with that, back to Francesca's Amici we go!

I went there one afternoon for lunch and they asked if we would have the buffet. We were not set on it, but the hostess said "YES! You'll have the buffet... you'll love it!" It was not very good at all. It was boring and over-cooked and blah. I hope their menu items are much better!

Caught an ad in the local paper.."Prime Rib Thursday Nights." Spent all day getting hungry arrived just a bit before 7:00 p.m. about a dozen diners in the newly decorated restaurant, ordered a bottle of wine, and I said to the waiter something like I've been looking forward to your prime rib all day. Guess what... He said they were sold out! I was offered a steak, but wasn't interested. I believe I'd been had. While leaving the hostess who had seated us only moments earlier said "have a nice evening" not paying attention to the fact she just sat us. Sorry, Angelo's has spent a lot of money remodeling, staffing and advertising. You simply must have more than 8 portions of a special.

Stopped there last week and had their seafood linguine and it was quite goo. Washed it down with a Sicilian Martini and some beer too! Only knock on the place is that the service is very slow.

I too felt dirty just being in this dated, dingy place with the brass bannisters and ugly mirrors. My back hurt from sitting in the cheap booth. The service was very good, kind, and attentive, that's why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1. Onto the food. It tasted like something I have made on a whim in my home when I was hungry. And believe me I'm no cook! Nothing special. I ordered a pasta dish in a tomato based sauce with pine nuts, garlic, and escarole. It comes with sausage too but since I am not a big meat eater I asked not to have that. Do you think I could get a slight disount for that? NOOO! Anyways the sauce was very oily, and I did not taste garlic (I'm a big fan). The thing that makes me a return customer at any restaurant was not to be had here. Nothing that made me swoon or drool over just thinking about it.

Angelo's . Went there for dinner on 9/10 I did not find that the atmosphere too bad unlike a few others had mentioned. Everything seemed quite OK to me. Maybe they remodeled since then. However, when we went there.....wow. All of the customers were quite old. I mean all of them and I mean senior citizen old. Hey, don't get me wrong, I love seniors but I never felt like they were on the cutting edge of the restaurant scene. Anyway, on to the food. We had a wood oven pizza for an appetizer for the three of us. It was quite unaminous that the pizza crust was too thick and the toppings not correct for wood burning Neo pizza. It was so-so. Had to wait a long time for our entree's to appear after that. The waiter brought me a refill on my wine "on the house" for the wait. The hostess then visited our table to apologize for the wait and to let us know that we could have dessert "on the house" for the inconvenience. We ordered pretty simple dishes, penne arrabiata, veal marsala, and chicken parm. I don't know why it took so long. The place was not very crowded either. Anyway, the food was just so-so on all of the dishes. I do not go out to dinner for so-so, I go out to have something good. We took a pass on the desserts, just wanted to end the visit there. Our server was OK. Overall, there are many Italian restaurants that are way much better in this neck of the woods so I would not be able to recommend it.

Great food! From Monday to Friday the restaurant offers an Italian food buffet. It has good selection and I love their soups and salads! And it's only about $12 per person! I wish they offered the buffet over the weekend so I can go there more often.

Love the calamari! We hit this place for lunch on occasion since we can quickly get in and start eating. The fried dough is also tasty.

I give Angelo's restaurant 5 stars for the food, their wood oven pizza is one of the best. The deli is very extended they also make Panninis, submarines cold pasta salads and of course gelato and Italian ice. They have a huge banquet hall for weddings and parties. The freshly renovated side is very beautiful rustic Italian look. The prices are very cheap. I enjoy coming back here to my old neighborhood in Elmhurst. I am glad I came back. . I really recommend this authentic Italian restaurant you will be glad you came here. Family owned and operated

Had dinner here tonight. The Eggplant Parmigiana was very good. My husband had the Veal Picante. He cleaned his plate! Only complaint was the sauce/gravy. The tomato seeds should have have been removed and maybe a little sugar to cut the acid. Drinks were great and service was very nice. Tony apologized for the slow service, which I actually enjoyed. So many times the soup/salad course is so closely followed by the entree you don't have time to catch your breath. Slowing down was a refreshing change. Will definitely be back.

Lunch buffet was really great for the price. Loved eggplant, minestrone, aglio olio. Really nice place, felt fancy for lunch and enjoyed it a bunch.

Right off 290 on York Rd in Elmhurst. I should give it five stars for the taste but since it's not glitzy and trendy, the experience mostly relates to the quality of the food and service. Although, they do have a live guitarist on the weekends. The fried calamari literally melts in your mouth. I was perplexed when it came time to order because each category. i.e pesche, carne, pollo had about 10 selections. Even the simple pasta dishes had about 10 different pasta sauces to choose from. The key to the great food is that it is family owned and operated. I had the gnocchi al forno (practically made love to it with my mouth). To top it off, they make their own cannoli from scratch. Even the shells. You can order half bottles of wine that are actually narrower bottles of uncorked wine. What a great place to take a large family as there were many large groups abound

The best buffet I've ever had is at Angelo's Restaurant in Elmhurst! Located on York Road, almost a block south of North Avenue, the food is always incredibly fresh and delicious and there are a staggering amount of items to choose from. There is plenty to satisfy even the special-diet-challenged! This is a great place to go especially when you're doing a lunch with many people who may have very different tastes

The food at Angelo's is quite good, and the staff does a good job. My daughter and I came in for dinner tonight and had some issues. Let me correct that one issue, the owner. The restaurant itself was not busy, but they did have an event going on upstairs. The restaurant was woefully under-staffed, our server Tony (who did a great job under the circumstances) was serving, hosting and bartending. There appeared to be only one bartender, one busser and no other staff. I believe the people attending the dinner upstairs were coming down to the bar to get drinks, which completely overwhelmed the bartender. After the rush at the bar subsided, the owner came out of the kitchen, and the only thing he did was make fun of the bartender for asking for help, and talk on his phone in Barese to, I assume, his wife or girlfriend. This guy has no reason to be in the restaurant!

Made a reservation for 6 people three days prior, requesting "a nice table please, we are celebrating our 11 year old girl's birthday" -- to which they assured us: "Of course!" We were seated at the table right next to the bar. The loud TV completely cancelled out the pretty decor of the place, and we had to ask to have the candle at our table lit. We went having heard about the $10 entree specials, but they strategically did not bring out the special menu until we specifically asked for it. But the worst was the wait for our food: 1 hour & 20 minutes! We were all starving and the bread refill did not come for another 30 minutes. When it did, half the bread in it was cold and nearly stale. The entrees themselves would have had to have been phenomenal to make the wait worth it -- they weren't and it wasn't, but the pasta dishes were alright. Water glasses did not seem fully clean. All in all: terrible experience, won't be coming back.

When here for valentines Day. 4:30 pm resv. not crowed yet. special menu only. I ordered the prime rib and hubby ordered lemon chicken. Took a long time to get when food came prime ride was overdone and leathery. Potatoes were cold. I complained they took it back; Brought back another piece which was cooked better but still not good prime rib. He told manager and received wine and potatoes credit of 11 dollar For a 38 dollar crappy prime rib I didn't even finish. Also was supposed to get a side of pasta with each meal and never did. Manager never even came over to apologize. Will not go back here. Also not very friendly staff members.

I always get a good meal here, whether I order pizza or something else. Service is good, and Josh, the owner, is always welcoming. The buffet is a great value with a lot of variety.

Whether your in for dinner or in for lunch, you are in for a treat! Lunch buffet is an incredible value that is packed with deliciously prepared italian salads and other staples of italian cuisine. Form fresh fried calamari, to italian sausage and peppers, baked fish, eggplant parmesan....the list goes on and on. Had dinner here a couple weeks ago and the fresh bread and olive oil was so good. Bread was incredibly soft and warm.....The entrees all looked amazing and all I really wanted that evening was pizza and they certainly delivered ont hat as well... The crust is one of the best I have ever had. Light and spongy and delivers a fantastic flavor. I had their sausage pizza and it was seriously good eats. It comes with goat cheese sprinkled on it so if you are not a fan just ask them to prepare it without. The Service - Fast and Friendly The Food - Delicious, Authentic. The Ambiance - Intimate and Cozy The Value - Top Notch If anyone is craving Italian, bring them here.

We were in here for over 2 hours for dinner. There were other tables that also had the same issue. The restaurant was not that crowded so I'm assuming they were understaffed. Our waiter was ok, was going to comp us dessert but never did. Forgot to bring us bread and our refills. Luckily the food was good and thank God they have paper covering the tables. My daughter was able to keep herself entertained by drawing while we waited.

I love the town of Elmhurst, but this place shouldn't be here. Food was nasty. Service was ok. Will not go back.

Went here for dinner with my in laws. The food was pretty good, the server was a talker - she seemed incapable of serving without giving us her life story. She also left my water glass empty quite a few times - cardinal sin for a server in my eyes ;). We were here on a Sunday night and the place was all but deserted - I don't know how they last if that is typical. The bread was served warm with butter (not enough). I had the Chicken Saltimboca - my chicken was overly salty and I was only able to eat half. My hubby had the Veal Marsala and it was good but also a bit too salty (and I love salt!). They did make my father in law a special white wine sauce for his clam pasta and it was served with tons of clams.

I was pleasantly surprised at how good Angelo's was the other night. I had the Puttanesca Spaghetti. The sauce, or gravy if you're Italian, had capers and olives. I just love the taste of capers and I don't find them often enough. In terms of the décor, Angelo's remodeled a couple of years ago. The restaurant is super comfortable, and they have a really nice deli. If you're a fan of Francesca Amici, you should give this place a try and see how it compares. As of this writing there are ninety-six restaurants in Elmhurst. I plan on eating at, and reviewing, every one. Follow me on Yelp!

Yes, Angelos is not haute cuisine but it is an excellent Italian restaurant with a very large menu, great ingredients, large portions, and good prices. And the staff is terrific too. The best bargain for miles around is the $18 buffet lunch. Lots of choices and great food. It's my favorite restaurant in Elmhurst.

** Gemma Disclaimer: There is a slight lag time on this review. Based on my seemingly endless reviews of all things funeral related, I feared a chicken would have to be sacrificed if I wrote another one. ** I was invited to Angelo's after my friend lost her Dad and this was my first time here since their remodel. Though not a large gathering, we were made welcome in one of their upstairs rooms. There is one small elevator to assist folks upward: otherwise the sleek wooden staircase must be negotiated. Though my friends family is from Germany, I was interested that they selected this spot with its Italian theme. A nice meal was paired with a cash bar for alcohol though other beverages came complimentary with the meal. We started with a great minestrone; it had a wonderful flavor and it was hot! (One of my pet peeves being soup with a case of the shivers). The garden dinner salad was also good, heavy on dark greens, with two options for dressing. Angelo's kept it a casual family dining experience, kept the food coming, but still didn't rush the meal. When the main course arrived, it covered the gamut of dinner options. Family style beef, veggies, pasta, lemon potatoes, and chicken were served. If we ran out, more came. Again, piping hot! Our meal was good; the Vesuvio chicken was unlike what I have had, but all in all we enjoyed our food. There was also ice cream and coffee for dessert. No mistake: we experienced nice service and a good meal that fit the occasion, with emphasis on family. Thanks!

Visited this place for a wedding reception in the banquet facilities. The ONLY thing good about this place was the wait staff. The wait staff was TERRIFIC and very pleasant and personable! Then we come to find out that the gratuity was added on to the bill of the bride and groom and that the wait staff never sees a penny! They did keep the room ventilated fairly well, which was a blessing as well as the food being delicious! However, the bathrooms were thoroughly DISGUSTING and small with huge puddles of water and toilet paper on the floor. They had two banquet rooms squished together on the second floor with small hallways and a coatrack hanging where people needed to walk. The walls between the rooms were paper thin and we could not even hear the wedding vows or toasts over the music from the next room! The banquet room floors were completely filthy as the bottoms of the long dresses and bare feet were black by the end of the night, not to mention the cuts on feet from broken glass. They screwed over all the guests and the bride and groom when it came to drinks!!! Go figure it was an open bar that the bride and groom were paying for. There were about 70 guests, more than half of whom were older people and kids. There is no way on this God's green earth that even 50 people (exaggerating on the number of people drinking) drank $2500 worth of alcohol in a 5 hour time span even IF they were a bunch of drunks! What they DID do WAS the fault of the wait staff; however, probably at the insistence of the incredibly unprofessional owner WHO KEPT CLEARING THE DRINKS OFF THE TABLES! Drinks would be obtained from the bar, have one sip taken and then disappear! And, this was over and over and over again all night long!!! They also closed the bar 1 1/2 hours early and left the guests that remained completed parched and cotton mouthed because they removed EVERYTHING off the tables including WATER regardless of how full the glass was! The owner was a complete bully and completely unprofessional and some other names I'd like to call him. I would NEVER do business with a place or person like this and don't recommend you do either!!!!

Great service and fresh full-flavored Italian style food. Cannolis are the best. If I had brought my gun, I would have left it to take the cannolis!

A friend of mine offered lunch here and since I was closer( dropped my carat the dealer for service) I went at Angelo's . I am very impress withe the lunch buffet here. My favorite was the three beans salad and the smoked salmon on the salad table. I would say that the Italian beef topped the list of the hot table. It was tender and full of flavor. The white fish and eggplant parmigiana was very good too. Service was attentive and knowledge. I would recommend this place to my friends

Just over a week ago, my great-grandma passed away. We were five generations which is pretty unique and something that we have always been pretty proud of. My grandma even got us into the local newspaper (complete with a picture) earlier this year. So what does this have to do with Angelo's? Well, not much, but it does explain why I was here for the lunch buffet on a Tuesday. After the funeral services, Angelo's was the chosen luncheon location. My great-aunt made the arrangements. We were in Evergreen Park for the burial and had to drive back to Elmhurst for lunch which caused some issues with logistics. Our family trickled in over the course of 75 minutes. Thankfully, we were having the lunch buffet which was filled and refilled the whole time. The restaurant is clean and the wait staff promptly removed dirty dishes. These were major pluses in my book. Options were split over three areas. First, a cold buffet. This included things like a pasta salad, antipasti salad, Italian bread already drizzled with olive oil (weird!), cheese cubes, a green salad, potato salad and a few other things. I didn't love this table. Next was a hot buffet. There were two soups, fried calamari, salmon, meatballs, sausage and peppers, pasta with garlic and olive oil, pasta with marinara sauce, beef in au jus and a few other things. When the calamari was fresh, it was ok. After it sat for a few, it was too chewy. It's not really a good buffet item. The beef barley soup had crunchy barley. :-( The salmon was okay. The meatballs were okay. Actually, everything was just okay. Thus the reason for the three stars. Finally, there was a section of desserts. These looked better than they tasted. Actually, the first mini cannoli was pretty tasty. I had a second and it was not the same. It was missing the citron, chocolate chips and probably powdered sugar. It just tasted like ricotta cheese. Bottom line. I was grateful for the nice atmosphere. I don't know that I'd rush back for another meal.

My third time here was also my last time. It's almost shameful for such a nice place to have such poor service and food. There was definitely a lot of potential here but if you can't serve good ravioli why bother ordering a flavorless truffle steak (had both)?!

My bridal shower was held here today and I couldn't be more pleased with everything! The party room was beautiful and the woman helping us (I believe her name was Margaret?) was so helpful throughout the day. The food was AMAZING, our guests could not stop raving about the buffet. Everything was fresh & put out on time. I would absolutely have an event here again!

The staff was so accommodating and respectful of the time crunch we were in. All of the food was amazing, from the salad to the pizza and to the pasta. Definitely coming back here some day.

I'm very surprised Angelo's only got two stars on Yelp. Maybe it is re-done now? We had a quite pleasant lunch today. The decoration is decent with brick walls and dark wood floor. it is open and settled. We chose to try the lunch buffet. We are really happy they offer the wide options from salad, appetizer, to mail course. I like the seafood salad with calamari, mussels, olive, and celery. Another one is really good is The artichoke, celery and olive. They are whole bunch of warm main courses to chose from: roasted chicken, pork chop with mushroom, grilled whitefish, sausage with pepper and onions, meatball, eggplant Parmigiana, Fried Calamari, spaghetti, Mostaccioli etc. Chicken is tender and delicious. I mixed spaghetti with pork chop sauce. Oh that was sooooo good. I tried almost everything. The only thing I was not impressed was Fried Calamri which I felt like it was out there for a while. Anyway, with so many options, you could always find something you like. I didn't care about the dessert. They are not as fresh as I expected which could be a good thing that I have less calories to burn later. The service was nice and attentive. I will definitely come back again.

Met a friend here for dinner a couple of weeks ago.... I recommended the location based upon its proximity to his house (walking distance). Anyhow, I really enjoyed the meal... service was prompt and attentive. I had the Chicken Cacciatore and it was delicious... if I have any complaint, it was the sheer size of the portion. The salad and bread served with oil and parmesan was very good as well. I had a couple of Peronis but later switched to the house Chianti, which was quite satisfying. We were there on a Thursday evening on which the patronage was light, which might have contributed to the promptness of our service. But overall, it was a great meal and Angelo's is a place where I would be glad to sit down for another meal. The only tricky part was parking.... look for it behind the building and it should be available there...

Their deli was amazing! Super nice staff and the focaccia bread was to die for. Everyone loved it and I couldn't stop eating it. Their deserts were heavenly as well. I will be coming there tons more times to order that bread.

Great place for enjoying an homemade tasting Italian lunch or dinner - Fine week day buffet to sample - looks like old line lineage from Angelo down to his son and his daughter and son - no problem suggesting the place - ALSO - they have ample for room for parties - entire upstairs devoted to large gatherings -

The only reason I am giving this place 1 star is because of the horrendous service. We had reserved a banquet room two months in advance for a family event and when we got there the room was literally 85 Degrees, the water was not on the tables, neither was the wine we had ordered and confirmed. The event was scheduled for 2:30 and we did not eat till 3:30. When we asked to speak with a manager there was no one to be found, the server had to go back into the kitchen and get a chef. The hall was not prepared, the servers were not available, it was an over all embarrassing experience. Family members left due to the heat! Even though the food (when it did arrive) was fairly good, I would NEVER eat there again because of the awful experience.

We saw the tiny little sign for the wood burning Pizza, and we had to stop! Yes, some of the customers were over 40, but we saw a group of 30's somethings and we were in our 20's so it was a mixed bag, but who cares, When we eat we are all about the food and people who are at our table, I will be old one day and I hope people don't say negative things due my my old ass being in a seat! Now back to what is important, the Food! We Both had the pizzas, and the house salads, I am sorry to say the lettuce was withered, and of poor quality, As a lover of tomatoes, and being in an Italian restaurant, seeing the almost pink, half frozen wedges on the side of the salad were unappetizing. He said the minestrone was good. Our pizza came out near perfect, he had the Margarita, and I had the grilled veggie and prosciutto. His was thin and crispy, but not quite as charred as mine. Mine was mush in the middle, I am sure it is all the toppings. The onions were so perfect but the prosciutto was rubbery. I do have to give a should out to our server, he went the extra mile for the Mr, With no real ice tea he offered to make real hot tea and then chill it, and that really was so nice of him. We showed him our appreciation in his tip!

Love this place! Best lunch buffet around, it's like going out for a nice dinner but buffet with a low price! My favorite is the Bread Salad!!! I also love Rosalie's Deli. Great sandwiches!! And on a hot summer day( and thats all we've had) you must try an Italian Soda. And if we can find a cool summer night they have a great balcony for drinks and such.

Oh my gosh, This is our new favorite neighborhood restaurant! We had not visited here since their remodeling. the decor is really warm and inviting. We were seated quickly, the waiter was very attentive and friendly, and let us leisurely enjoy a drink before ordering (not pushy). Our family-style salad was delicious and we finished every bit. Soup was great. My fish - tilapia florentina - was the best fish I'ver ever had in a restaurant. Really! The gamberi diablo linguini was also delicious. We skipped dessert but got some gelato in the attached deli on the way out and enjoyed it on the bench in front of the restaurant. What a great way to end the meal. Very affordable -- two dinners, two drinks each, all for under $80.

Excellent lunch buffet. The selection of salads is really nice. Artichoke, seafood, cucumber, bean, any kind of salad. They always have smoked salmon as well. The entrees are also good. Fish, meatballs, sausage, eggplant, calamari. I though the service was good for a buffet style meal, I couldn't get halfway through my glass of water without a refill. There are a couple other Italian buffets in the area, but this is easily the best. And it's not much more expensive than the rest. I always recommend this spot.

Came here tonight for a family style dinner. It was great. The food tasted great, the waiters were quick and diligent. I loved the design and ambiance of the inside. Only reason I give it four stars is because since we did family style with a group of people, I'm not sure how much it would cost me for just an individual meal or the value for what I pay so I guess I'll have to come back and see that one day.

  • Craig B.

Has been totally re-done and has a great, traditional Italian menu. Very good value and good portions. Good wine list and the bread and olive oil is also great. It does have an older crowd but that is part of the charm. Friendly family owned, I went one day for lunch and did not realize they have a large buffet for the lunch crowd. It was good to sample several items. Well worth trying again.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
