this place is sub par to say the least. service was good, however a bit overpriced for the food that was served. Probably will not be recommending this place. If you want a good, reasonably priced meal...there are a ton of other restaurants around this area.

We ate at the bar. I'd say the food is pretty good. The drinks are better. HUbby and I need to go back again to try out other dishes. The half chicken was juicy and good. It had wonderful crisp potatoes.Hubby had a pasta dish... but it just had way too many onions in it. I had a Negroni to drink. The bartender knew his stuff. Hubby liked his manhattan too. I think this place has better food than Biaggi's... but we will need to try it again.

Giving 3 star for now. I went there for lunch from looking at the pictures of caprese salad and the sweet and spicy calamari on Yelp and was disappointed with the portion, presentation, and quality for the price. The flavor was good, but I didn't feel like I got my moneys worth. As always I will give them another shot since it had flavor, and potential.

I live in Deerfield and want to like this place more. It just misses the mark for me and my wife on a few levels. The service we experienced was way dub par. The food is just ok..overly oily, if you are a foodie, there is better. I think a retraining of wait staff and a rethink of menu with more "season" "fresh" items would make this place a show stopper. Good location, easy access, nice ambiance. I may give it another shot, but also may need some inducement. Its on my backyard, I so want to like it more!

We came here with a group of 7 (reservations made that same Friday) and all of us had a great experience. I used to come here back when this was Red Star, so I was very impressed to see the changes made throughout the restaurant. It has a very hip and modern feel to it, yet it feels upscale. If you want to know what a true North Shore dining experience is, then Bobby's is the place for you! I am glad it is here though, because this area definitely lacks in upscale restaurants. For appetizers, we shared the Sweet and Spicy Calamari and the Chicken Wings Oreganato. Both were good, but nothing too crazy to remember. We also had their Beet Salad, but I was not a fan of it. They served bread with this amazing garlicky butter that was oh so good! For an entree, I had the Chicken Caprese (boneless breast of chicken sautéed in white wine with plum tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and basil. It was tasty, but I wouldn't get it next time. Bobby's Burger was a popular choice in our group and I may need to get that next time... They do make their own desserts, but all of us went with different flavors of gelato. I had pistachio gelato, which had real pistachios in it. I wasn't a fan of it either - it wasn't sweet or creamy enough and I hate the actual peanuts, so I was just eating around them. Overall, our waiter was incredibly nice and attentive and the food, I would say, is a little above average. I will come back here at some point in the future, but probably not for some time since there was nothing that really stood out for me.

My team from work joined me for dinner. Quick summary. This was a perfect evening. Bobbies has a great ambiance. Great for warm work events, a romantic evening or evening out. The food was just fantastic. And the service matched. Top shelf. We started with cocktails at the bar. They have a signature cocktail: their Old Fashioned. It is the best we have had. Not a typical recipe. It is a bit lighter, a bit fragrant and flavorful. We will be back just for this cocktail. A MUST try. The appetizers included the ceviche and calamari. They were perfect. Not rubbery at all. Must perfect texture. For dinner we had the sea bass, chicken asparagus, New York and pot chop. Again everyone thought their food was done impeccable, literally the best experience we have had as a team. Period. Dessert: the espresso flan is a must. We will be back. Thank you for an awesome experience, meal and service.

Bobby's has a very pleasant atmosphere with an excellent wine list and very knowledgeable wait staff. Bobby himself even recommended another (better) wine over what we ordered and only charged us for the cheaper wine. Very impressed with the service and food quality here.

Never disappoints. Latest trip had the beef gnocchi. Gnocchi was melt in your mouth smooth. Beef was very good also. Would have preferred bigger chucks of beef (and fewer vegetables) in the gravy topping, but still very good. My friend had the steak with Salsa - he indicated the Salsa was a little overpowering on the steak. Steak was cooked to perfection. AMAZING WINE List. If Bobby is in, ask him for a pairing. He knows his wine.

Maybe a 3.5 for effort overall. (The waiter was wonderful, 5 starts ) (the bread and spread outstanding 5 stars) (The tomato bisque soup, was not hot, just warm, which ruined an otherwise fantastic flavor, 3.5 stars) (the beet salad was a complete miss, 1 stars) (the duck foie gras was a let down- while the sauce was very good, duck can not be substituted for goose, 3 stars it was far too subtle to hold up to the bread or sauce.) (The last dish we tasted is the veal medallions picata--it is very good. Excellent quality with too muted flavors. I prefer flavor forward 3 stars) -- total overall rank for this place 3.5 stars---good but nothing to write home about.

My boyfriend and I went here on a little lunch date and just decided to try it out. For an appetizer we got the Salmon pastrami on potato pancakes with herb cream cheese.. That was simply amazing. Probably up there in the best appetizers I've had. I highly recommend trying that! For our meal we just split bobbys burger. It was an interesting burger. It was my first time having bean sprouts on a burger and it wasn't really necessary in flavor, but it was a nice touch. The burger was cooked perfectly to my liking. For dessert we tried a toffee cake which was very good but a little too sweet. I really liked it but I couldn't eat to much. Overall it was a very good experience and i would return solely for the salmon pastrami! Its a must!

First time here. A gem in the northbrook Deerfield area. The pasta was really good. I think it's handmade. It's difference in size n length. The salad for 2 was good enough for 4. Service was good. The only dislike was the noise. It was very loud n can't hear or talk normally.

  • Luke C.

I recommend the Calamari. Sauce is spicy and sweet which totally make this dish. Burger is very juicy and I think one of the best in the area. Love the downtown ambiance without having to drive downtown. Good for an adult crowd to have drinks and good food. Bar area is really cool with many TVS for viewing sports.

Had drinks and apps in the bar, rudest hostess ever..... actually demanded we give up one of our chairs when there were more than a dozen available empty chairs that were "reserved". We stayed for quite a while and the reserved chairs were never used!! Will never go back, pathetic customer service.

Food was ok,we expected better. We went there around 7 pm on Saturday, in half an hour place got packed and very noisy. All the food including hot tea was warm. Not sure if we going to give it a second chance.

Food is very good when you can get it. Appetizers are tasty and varied. The main courses could be better but rarely could wait long enough to try them. Every time (3) I've been there the service left a lot to desire. So much to desire, the service is TERRIBLE. Doubt I can give it another chance. Too bad because it's convenient, it's got ample parking and it's got a pleasant atmosphere.

Bobby's , I've lunched & dinner there 5 times , food is a 5 star always , I order a variety of food it's all good. Service I've had 5 Star service other times 3 . Drinks are 5 Star the drink menu , is double interesting , I've had a meal at the bar & outside very enjoyable spot , I'll be back because it's good, not because my wife remodeled the house & took out the kitchen .

I went here for a business lunch recently and was distinctly underwhelmed. I got Halibut, which was one of the daily specials our server touted. It was kind of dry. I normally do not get dessert, but ordered a coffee because several in our group did order dessert. I had to remind the server to bring my coffee and when I got it, it was cold. I really dislike cold coffee.

I never knew Deerfield had this side to it! Cute little area, has a nice look to it. So glad we finally have something good in our area. I ordered the sweet and spicy calamari and Bobby's burger. Both were pretty good, the best calamari and burger I've ever had? No.. but seeing that my option are very limited in the area, this is definitely one of the better places. I like the atmosphere also, and surprisingly it wasn't too crowded/loud on a Friday night, so it was kinda nice and peaceful, and there wasn't a wait. I'll have to come back one day and order something else off the menu and maybe then I'll be able to give it 4 stars.

The Thanksgiving dinner at Bobby's in Deerfield was excellent. I am not usually a big fan of stuffing, but their apple cinnamon stuffing was delicious. Service was ok, but not as great as the food. It was wonderful that they were open on Thanksgiving day while we're in Chicago over the holiday.

Bobby's is great. Great vibe, great service and great food. It's hard to find a restaurant in the northshore that upholds those values. Bobby's is the perfect Saturday night family dinner night or even date night. Bobby also makes it a point to say hello to new and familiar faces, which I think adds a nice sense of comfort.

Just got back from a very nice meal at Bobby"s. Steaks were done just right, wine was tasty, good service all night. My only complaints would be its a bit too noisy and the wait staff was cutting between tables too much which I found distracting. Prices were on the high end, but food and service backed them up. I will definitely be back.

This place has been a favorite for a while now but I have never taken the time to review. First, their menu has something for everyone. Pasta, steaks , salads, even the apps that can double for an entree. When the waiter explains the specials, you want one of everything or wish there was a combo special. I can say I've experienced a good number of their selections and never had a bad experience. Chef Auggie and Bobby know how to put a meal together like no one else. Yesterday I was in for lunch with a friend and because I've been sticking to mostly Paleo basics in my diet, I really wanted a steak. Skirt steak is on the lunch menu, but I wanted a something a little leaner and asked if they had a filet available they could grill up for me. They did and without a blink it was prepared to perfection. And this is what led me to leave the review today. Filet mignon is by far my favorite steak. I've been in some of the best 'well known' steak joints in the country and they really don't compare to the steak I had here. The filet I had was grilled to perfection, seasoned perfectly, nothing fancy, no toppings, just a plain old steak. But it was nothing but plain. It was, by far, the best filet I have ever had. Period. Great place, great owner, chefs and wait staff. Perfect place for a date or just an upscale casual night night out. Of course lunch, too is outstanding. You won't be disappointed. Thanks Auggie and Bobby for making every experience there a great one... that makes me keep coming back!

We are regulars at Cafe Lucci (in Glenview who also own this) so our food expectations are very high. The complimentary ciabatta bread was warm and served with a garlic and olive oil puree - very tasty. We liked the twist on fried calamari tossed with balsamic vinegar and hot giardineira - doesn't sound good but really is. The burger was good but not fantastic - needed seasoning. The brioche bun was a nice touch of richness. Fries were tasty but not crisp enough. Spaghetti a la Carbonara was light yet flavorful and a very substantial portion. The Penne a la Maria with ground sausage and sweet onions was good but also lacked seasoning. Wines by the glass are either $8-$9 or $14 + for better tasting options - a bit too pricey. Pistachio gelato was chunky full of pistachio nut meaty but it really was not sweet or creamy enough. The lighting is dark but nice, the glass floor to ceiling windows are nice - especially compared to the claustrophobic and view-less Cafe Lucci. They have big booths where a couple could sit on one side and look at at others. The bar sort of wraps around the kitchen (not visible) and looks nice enough to sit and hang out if you wanted to. We'll give it another try and see if it will merit 4 stars the next time.

Does this place really need another great review? Why, yes, it does! This is the type of place Deerfield has been needing for years. It's a nice upscale restaurant with a beautiful full bar, decedent food and excellent service. So classy! Most places in Deerfield are usually catered to families or the elderly, which is understandable, but there really needed to be a nicer joint in the area for a night without the kids or grandparents. It's open a little later than the other restaurants in the area too, which was sorely needed. Not everyone goes to bed at 9pm, lol! I have tried several dinners there, everything is always cooked perfectly! Chilean sea bass, not too oily, little crispness on the edges, soft and fluffy! Mediterranean chicken was super juicy with an excellent au jus, crispy skin....to die for! One huge plus, THEY MAKE THEIR OWN DESSERTS!!! Most restaurants, like, everywhere, usually have pre-made desserts shipped in. I'm a bit of a pastry snob, nothing beats a fresh made pastry in house! Banana Coconut cake, all I can say is wow! I also loved the creme brulee and triple chocolate cheesecake! Cocktails can be a bit on the strong side, which is by no means, a complaint! Just a tip to those who can't handle their booze, ask if the bartender can make your drink on the lighter side. So far this place seems to get steady business and stays pretty busy even late. It does get a little loud, and it can sometimes the parking lot can fill up, but that's a good sign of a good restaurant! If there aren't a ton of cars out front, something is wrong! There's plenty of seating, I have never had a problem getting a table even when it's really busy. As far as being good for kids or older folks, I'm sure Bobby's would be more than happy to accommodate best they can. They have top notch service and are very friendly. There really isn't much on the menu for those who aren't adventurous. Yes, you could always ask for the burger to be plain or a plate of pasta only with butter, but why? There's many places less than a block away that specialize in those things.

Bobby's is a great restaurant. My wife and I go there often, and the recently changed the menu. When I told the waiter that one of the items I liked was gone, he told me they would be happy to make it. Made my night. I know a lot of restaurants would do the same, but just adds to the experience at Bobby's

After many visits, and getting to know Bobby who always surprises us with a bottle of wine not on the list, I'm a big fan, a very big fan of Bobby's. After probably a dozen or more visits, I have not yet had a dish that didn't excite me or service that wasn't excellent.

Went there on a Saturday night. It was busy we had a reservation and only had to wait 10 minutes for our table. The inside decor is modern and really nice. We had the crab cakes and the calamari which were AMAZING! I will definitely be back just because of those. Great atmosphere, great food!

I'm glad that this spot is finally yielding some success after a few not-so successful ventures. I took a bunch of ladies for work as my treat for the holidays and it was hoppin' like any other place in the city. For appetizers, we ordered the calamari which had a unique sweet and spicy twist to it, as well as the crab appetizers. I appreciated that they divvied up and plated the appetizers for us so we didn't have to all attack the plates when they arrived. Each of us were pleased with our orders and what I would recommend to the management is to maybe train the servers and the managers in a way that customers feel like they're getting individualized attention and not just another sardine in this packed restaurant. When we arrived, our group of 7 was given a booth that was clearly too small for the group and when I asked if we could be seated to the table behind us that clearly had more room, the person who sat us said: "No, you can't have that - that's reserved." I was thinking: "I understand reservations which is why I made one 6 weeks ago!" but I let it go and as anticipated, dinner could have been more comfortable if we weren't elbow to elbow. I would return but not anytime soon but I do hope the place stays as Deerfield is in desperate need of dining options!

This place was very good. Met up with a couple of friends after work for dinner and drinks. It was not a busy Thursday so the restaurant wasn't completely full (which was nice) so we were able to relax and not feel rushed. Our waiter was very attentive and gave us some help with picking a bottle of wine. The food was wonderful, we started with the Salad for 2, more like a salad for 4, loaded with good stuff! My main course was the Bobby's Burger, 10 ounce ground brisket and short rib burger topped with Gouda cheese, alfalfa sprouts, tomato, red onion, mayo, ketchup, and spicy brown mustard; served with a side of crispy fries. It was far better than I expected! I was really WOW'd! My one friend had the Chicken Caprese entree, boneless breast of chicken sautéed in white wine with plum tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and basil. The smell was intoxicating! I was just a bit disappointed that it didn't come with a side of pasta. Other friend had the Eggplant Parm, I'm not a fan of the Eggplant but she said that it was delicious! Thinly sliced eggplant pan fried and baked in a marinara sauce with mozzarella cheese, served with penne. We were too stuffed to think about dessert (and I only ate half of the burger I ordered)! We had some coffee and conversation. It was a wonderful evening. Prices are about average for the area. I plan to be back at Bobby's in the near future!

Just had lunch here and I was impressed. I always loved Red Star, but this menu is pretty nice. We had the specials - zucchini & butternut squash soup with a great pesto and a crab salad stuffed tomato - very clean dish with great flavors. The honey lime vinaigrette was excellent. Good service and great decor. We'll be back!

My husband's family has been going to Cafe Lucci for years and we were all excited to try Bobby's. You won't be disappointed!! It's like Cafe Lucci with better soups and salads, and more vegetarian options. They will also cook you things from the Cafe Lucci menu if you ask. Love the chandeliers - they are very modern and elegant.

Went to Bobbys with my best friend and was quickly seated. I have a gluten intolerance and let our waiter know, he was very informative and went through the whole menu (which has wasn't to big in the first place) and let me know which items would be good for me to eat which was very nice. We started off with the Augies Fries which had spices, EVOO, and feta. Those were decent, I also ordered the curry carrot soup, it was tasty. I didn't see much on the menu that I found particularly appealing so I thought I'd play it safe and order the Spaghetti Carbonara Gluten Free and my best friend ordered the Skirt Steak. Our food came and my Carbonara didn't really look like Carbonara...it wasn't very creamy and had little flavor. Their gluten free pasta is not that good, very gritty compared to others I've had (and I eat A LOT of gluten free pasta haha). I took a couple bites and decided I had enough and wasn't going to force myself to eat something I didn't enjoy. I let the server know that I didn't really like the pasta and that he could just take it off the table, I wasn't going to take it home and he replied with "really?", not in a rude way but more of a like 'oh...well..I don't know what to do about that', and he took it and walked away. Didn't say anything else. My friend said her steak was good and a nice flavor, but for the portion you are given $26 is a little steep for what you get. The potatoes that are served with the steak had very little flavor, we both agreed. When we got the check it turned out that our server took the pasta off the bill which was appreciated. I'm not sure if I'll be back anytime soon, but maybe in the future I'll give Bobby's another chance.

Everything I have had here is REALLY good. It is expensive but it is a good date night place or special event venue. I came here with a group for New Years Eve and my husband won a big bottle of champagne which was cool. I have had calamari, the fois gras, a beet salad, various pastas, and tried other people's food and I have enjoyed it all!

Pros: good food, great service, nice decor, plenty of parking Cons: pricey (but good for special occasions) and extremely LOUD. Overall, I will NOT return because of the noise level. We went at 6pm on a Wednesday evening and within a half hour we could not hear each other (and I have great hearing). It was impossible to have a dinner discussion. That alone will prevent me from returning. (Even the waiter could not hear what we were ordering.)

This is a REVIEW FOR ITALIAN KITCHEN, not Bobby's Place. My husband and I wanted a quiet New Year's Eve and so we chose the neighborhood gem, the Italian Kitchen. We have tried most items on the menu. This night we both had a taste for the Pasta alla Pescatora. The sauce was perfection, the sea food diverse, and the portion was generous. I am never disappointed when I come. I heard some diners at a table next to ours complaining about something, and it sounded like the owner offered to please any demands they made. It was resolved. The diners left all smiles. Italian Kitchen is about a family operation where patrons are treated like friends.

Fantastic Food... In an area where it's very hard to stick around, Bobby's has the potential to become a stalwart in my option, for great food in Deerfield. Me and my buddy carried out after a long hot day golfing and we weren't disappointed. As a crab cake connoisseur, I was told beforehand to try them by a cohort, and they didnt disappoint. Light and flakey with just a sprinkling of melted parmagiano reggiano... To die for. We also split the calamari which was a festival of flavors all on its own. Served "Bobby's way" this wasn't a traditional "puss in gravy." They were served in a balsamic, almost honey like glaze with thinly diced giardinera. It was a sweet and spicy blend of deliciousness, that along with some perfectly grilled calamari, was almost a mock take on Korean sticky wings that were fantastic. We then finished with fettacini Alfredo with crispy bits of authentic prosciutto. Also, another home run. 3/3 on everything with all expectations met or exceeded. Bobby... You've got new customers. Ill definitely be back soon. Guys, full bar and greet helpful waitstaff... Do yourself a favor and go try today!

I dined at Bobby's on tuesday night. I couldnt believe it was there first night of business. I was amazed at how smooth things were going. The food was top notch. I expected nothing less from Bobby and Augie. The salmon pastrami was great as were the crab cakes. The service was great, our server Kelly took great care of us.

This place is a solid work lunch. I've been here five times for just that occasion. I've had the burger, the fish sandwich, and several pastas. The service is fine. No complaints and generally they are attentive. The food is 'American grill with a Mediterranean flair'. The prices are a bit steep and portions are really big, but the food has solid flavor. The burger might be the best thing on the menu. It's a nice burger, rich and juicy. But it is a big burger, you have to be pretty hungry to eat it all, my guess is it clocks in around a thousand calories. IN general, the carb-to-protein ratio is too high with most of their meals except the salads. I find the pastas are enough to feed two and are very short on the featured meat, but they are sauced really nicely. At this price point, I'd expect half the pasta and twice the meat. My synopsis of the food is 'tasty but overkill'. The view is of the traffic on Deerfield road and the plaza across the street. Not exactly compelling, but big windows give it an open feel nonetheless. If the weather is nice, take advantage of sitting outside, which faces the courtyard.

So this is my second review. We finally got a chance to go back last night, after our first experience the week Bobby's opened. Happy to report place was even better this time around. Any kinks from opening week are gone. Service was great. Food was amazing (The barrata appetizer is a must). And like a said last time, the place is a perfect date spot. Really happy the place is in town and doing well.

If you're starved for new places in the burbs, you'll love this place. If you're used to the quality and authenticity of city restaurants you'll leave unimpressed. They try very hard to provide quality service and product. But the food is just average. And while the dining room and bar are spacious, it's lacking in soul and character.

This location has had several restaurants rotate through so I am hoping that Bobby's remains. The food here is top notch. I go to Bobby's for lunch a couple times a month and the wait staff and service in general is consistently really great. The bread served before the meal is just okay, but the garlic spread, while not attractive, tastes really really good. The calamari is very tasty and is second only to the calamari served at DC Sarnies before it closed it's doors. The top three dishes on the menu in order are the skirt steak, the BBQ chicken breast sandwich and the blackened talapia sandwich. The chicken sandwich is no longer on the lunch menu, but they have made it for me on special request which is another example of great customer service. Bobby's burger is also pretty tasty. While I do like fries especially the Augie fries, the house made chips are fantastic. If you are looking for something new and or some really-really good food Bobby's is the a great place to venture over to.

What can I say, the food is fantastic. So good. Mmm! Whooie, yes. The space itself is modern and upscale yet casual. With all the open space, it was amazing that it wasn't crazy loud in there. We had the burrata (pardon my bad spelling if I got it wrong), cheese curds encased in mozzarella which was tasty, creamy, and smooth. Others had the crab cakes, a carry-over from Cafe Lucci, and my sweetheart said they're the best he's ever had. Filets with garlic mashed, oh my goodness, oh so good. Ingredients are king here; nothing but the best quality. The wine list alone is worth the visit. Much like Cafe Lucci, just let Bobby pick your wine for you and you will not be sorry. They brought over several other big hits from Cafe Lucci such as the bread with roasted garlic (oooh my word, that garlic....oh!), along with several entrees and desserts. With good reason of course; the food is phenomenal. We will without a doubt be back despite its distance from home. Service has some kinks to work out like any newly opening restaurant but once things are fine tuned this place is going to be a monster hit, guaranteed. Do not miss out. Deerfieldians, you are one lucky bunch.

Food was great, server blew it for us. Has all the makings of a five star rating, but they need to get some of the kinks out. The management and owner were very attentive when they learned of our servers errors. From the time we sat down, the server couldn't recite the specials, screwed up the drinks and did not put one of the four entrees in on the order. I can't imagine this guy being around next time we go there. As I said earlier, it was apparent the owner was an experienced restauranteur and he made things right. The place was very crowded, they honored our reservation on time and the staff was very courteous.

Bobby's is a well run, high end local spot that is fiercely determined to make everyone happy. The food is edible. Sort of. But there's no culinary agenda here, only a financial one. The phrase that comes to mind (my mind, anyway) is "maddeningly patronizing." Bobby's is like the kid in your high school class who was determined to be friends with everyone. It has no life of its own.

Service is great. Wine list pretty goodgood. Menu is very good. The pluses: Menu selection is great! Lots of options for all tastes. Wine selection is very diverse. Flavors are very very good in most dishes The minuses: Cruvinets are not set to the right temperatures Wines are not always stocked... so not always able to serve them at the right temperature Some of the dishes are priced way out of line. Not all, but definitely about 1/3. Don't come here if you are looking to watch a game and have a beer... beer selection is limited and there is one TV with about 8 seats in its line of sight. Recommendations: Burrata Salad Grilled Calamari Any of the veal dishes The foie gras is delicious.... BUT it is a tiny tiny tiny portion for the amount they charge. We'll be back though!

As a long-term fan of Cafe Lucci, I'm happy to see they've branched out here. This restaurant carries forward a lot of what's great about Lucci but it's much more modern and youthful. Also much more emphasis on cocktails and appetizers, as opposed to an entree and a bottle of wine. (But still, let Bobby choose a wine for you. Don't be shy about naming a price range. One of the nice things about the Arifis is that they don't upsell you at all. If they suggest an alternative it will be at the same price.) Among the current appetizers, get the calamari, foie gras and scallops. For mains, something like the gnocchi with ragu; they are very strong with simmered sauces.

Overall the experience was very good. The service was attentive and friendly. The food was good, but nothing spectacular. At this price point I think there are many other options if you venture outside of Deerfield, but if you want to stay local this is a good choice.

Great food, and all in all, very good experience. Our party of four enjoyed Moscow mules in copper cups-really excellent, Appetizers, especially liking the calamari and foi gras. Entres were all big hits; fantastic Mediterranean chicken, cooked crispy as requested, skirt steak and sea bass best ever- and finally a perfect fall dish of beef and gnocchi - flavorful! Dessert of coconut banana layered cake was moist and memorable..... Capable, friendly servers and staff. A few items that could use help- menu was hard to read, light grey/silver print on light paper - who needs the challenge? Noise level gets loud due to high ceilings. Both physical room items are fixable.

Business dinner with a ton of food on the table. I personally tried the. The standouts that I can still recall after at least 3 weeks are the stuffed porkchop and the burrata: Stuffed porkchop - I have never ordered a porkchop in a restaurant. The waiter recommended. Huge portion - pork chop was stuffed with different cheese + more pork! + vegetables. The sautéed peppers with the chop were really good. I would definitely order again. Burrata - loved it. I'm just know trying different burratas and this one was exceptional - nice portion, good accompaniments, Charcuterie board - this was top notch as well, but out of everything I tried, the most forgettable, but would order again. Grilled Vegetables and Sticky Toffee Cake - both good, but not something that I'd still be raving about like the chop and burrata.

I've been looking forward to trying this place and the opportunity finally arrived. Sat at the bar to wait for a friend (which is where we ended up eating) and looked over the drink menu. Spotted a caipirinha on their drink selection - a Brazilian drink that I've heard a little about from a friend who has been there, but have never seen the drink itself. As my friend noted - looks like a mojito! It was good - different too, but for $12, the "experiment" is over. There were two bartenders and while one was our primary server, both of them ensured that we were taken care of and not needing anything - a thumbs up on the service experience. We ordered a sausage and pepper appetizer which was pretty good - a pretty straight forward offering from an appetizer selection with a myriad of options. For our entrees, my friend ordered the skirt steak and I opted for the halibut special. The skirt steak was cooked as ordered - my buddy was satisfied with it. My halibut was pretty good as well, though the $32 price for the portion was a tad high in my opinion. Since it was ala carte, I also ordered some creamed spinach - that was nicely done. Hope to stop in again sometime - it's not near where I live or work, so it'll be a "planned" stop rather than a spur of the moment visit as most of my restaurant forays are. Nice spot overall.

I came here for a work lunch with some of my co-workers. First of all, they understand the need for a quick lunch during work, and made sure we had our food quickly and that we had everything we needed. We were seated immediately and were asked for our orders a couple times before we were ready, and actually two different waitstaff members were checking on us. Our drinks were brought right away. The waiter had recommendations and easily told us about the daily specials. I had the Mediterranean wrap, which was very large and very good. The homemade chips were just OK though. I think i would have preferred fries, or even a salad over the chips. As I looked around the table, all the entrees looked tasty and came in large portions. Everyone said they enjoyed my meal. The only reason I knocked off a star was the pricing. While some dishes were completely reasonable (my wrap was $10), a salad with salmon added was over $20. I thought this was a little steep for lunch. I would definitely come back here for lunch, or even I'd try dinner.

Was in the other day again with clients. Our server was very professional and attentive. We talked A LOT and he didn't interrupt at all and let us take our time:) They also brought out dessert on the house to try! How nice! Get the banana cake, delish!!

I cannot believe I haven't rated Bobby's yet. This place is fantastic on every level. No joke. Ambiance, service, food, drink offerings and location. If you don't know the wines by name just ask Bobby. He'll get you a great pairing without crushing you. Ceviche and burrata are my staples for either dinner apps or as lunchtime shared small plates. Both are awesome! Bobby burger - Get it! It's going to be voted best burger in Chicago at some point. Service is always very good to excellent. Take advantage of the outdoor space. Very nice.

A winner and worth it! Awesome food, generous portions, welcoming and knowledgeable waitstaff, classy hip decor and lighting. What's not to like? Complimentary Italian bread with garlic parmesan olive oil spread was a welcomed start and the spread was so tasty if you are a garlic lover. SPICY AND SWEET CALAMARI with a huge portion came in a full deep bowl. The calamari had great texture - not too crispy or chewy- just right. Not too spicy or sweet - just right. A little on the oily side but better than too dry. At 13 bucks, a good value. BEEF GNOCCHI - A twist on a traditional gnocchi. Prepared like a beef stew with carrots and of course the potato gnocchi dumplings replacing stewed potatoes. True to its roots, the gnocchi was topped with shredded parmesan cheese and a hint of white wine in the sauce. It's not Nonna's gnocchi but who am I kidding? Gnocchi gnocchi gnocchi gnocchi gnocchi! I just typed "GNOCCHI" more in 5 minutes the the last 10 years combined. WHISKEY, BOURBON, AND SCOTCH Although I didn't drink, I'm noting a proud display and satisfying selection of many of my favorites. I definitely loved it and will be back.

We had a really lovely Friday night dinner here. We tried two appetizers and split an entree. Based on this very limited tasting I would generalize to say that the appetizers are outstanding and the entrees a step down from that. For our appetizers we ordered the sweet and spicy calamari and the crab cakes. We told our waiter that we were planing to share both the appetizer so he asked us if we wanted him to split them for us (added service points!). The appetizers arrived and they split them table side for us. So we each had our own plate and didn't have to dig into a communal plate. It seemed very elegant. Both dishes as noted above were amazing. Both craveable. The calamari was done to perfection and not at all rubbery. The balsamic glaze a perfect complement. The crab cakes are not the ordinary Maryland crab cake and are a combination of crab and vermicelli. It doesn't sound like it would work and that the pasta is more of a filler rather than an intentional foodie decision. But it does and it most certainly is! The texture is great and the sauce on top really rounds out the flavor. I liked these so much that I might not be tempted to try anything else when we go again because I just couldn't bring myself to come here and not order these two dishes. Our entree was fine but honestly I don't remember what we got. Just not a standout. I think it was one of the specials of the evening and not a regular menu item. Our waiter was terrific too! From what I could tell the entire staff was friendly and efficient.

Like this place a lot. We've been here a few times already. Interior design is very nice. The restaurant is pricey, or more pricey then we rxpected but everything we had was really good. Cheesecake dessert was amazing, and usually only like cheesecake factory for that)) we'll definitely be back, i want to try their outdoor seating ))

Bobby's consistently has superior food and service. The roast beef sandwich on the lunch menu is out of this world, truly unique and delicious. Service is prompt, friendly, gracious and accommodating. We've tried several items in the menu and have never been disappointed. I highly recommend.

I had a reservation and had requested to sit outside. When I checked in they said it would be about 20 minutes for an outside table. 35 minutes later I asked again and she said it would be another 30 minutes. It ended up be about 1hr 30 before the table was ready. This was not a way to begin the experience. Then after ordering the main courses came about 35 minutes after the salad. At this point the restaurant was fairly empty so it was not due to the amount of orders. The whole experience was not what I was hoping for. I would say however that the food was well done when it did arrive. If the reservation and timing of the food weren't so off I would have definitely give it another try. But as it stands now I won't be rushing back.

Bobby's is the best dining experience in Deerfield, hands down. From the modern, upscale atmosphere to the personally attentive service, to the remarkable flavor infusions in each dish. You'd be hard pressed to find another restaurant that could match the overall level of excellence that Bobby's does. Shrimp ceviche was fresh, flavorful, and crisp. Veal was tender, robust and very enjoyable. Snapper with seafood medley was absolutely phenomenal. The perfect amount of sauce to brighten the dish. Julian was attentive, personable and accommodating. Brought my sister in from AZ, she was thoroughly impressed. I'm so glad I live close enough to become a frequent diner. Bobby knows how to do it right. All of it.

Got take out during lunch: Roast beef sandwich was great with the veggies. If you are hungry, DO NOT get the beet salad. The portion was tiny! I called In because I was confused and the manager said that was the "lunch" portion? No bed of greens or anything, disappointed!

Bobby's has become the "go to" place my co-workers and I go when we want to go out for a nicer lunch or to celebrate someone's birthday. The prices on the lunch menu are reasonable, the food is very good and only once have I had something that I would not order again (the gnocchi with beef ragu). Bobby himself often mans the host station and is very friendly and welcoming. Some favorite dishes of mine are the Cavatelli Contadina (the unanimous favorite of everyone I work with), Chicken Vesuvio, Chicken Gorgonzola and the Bobby's burger. Yum!

I came here with my husband and four children on a busy Saturday night. I had heard about this restaurant from so many of my clients and had to try it! The ambience of the place is welcoming, laid-back, and professional. Our waiter was very courteous and pleasant. For appetizers, we ordered crab cakes and burrata cheese/bread. The crab cakes were great! Meanwhile, the burrata cheese was wonderful. I have visited Italy a number of times, and always love having burrata there. This cheese tasted similar to the one I love in Italy! For my entrée, I ordered the skirt steak, which came with a side of mashed potatoes. Cooked medium-well, the steak had the perfect texture and taste. The mashed potatoes were also very good. My husband ordered the tricolor salad, while my kids ordered two burgers and split them. NO complaints from anyone! Overall, if your looking for a nice, enjoyable restaurant with great food to go to with family, friends, or co-workers this is the place for you! You will definitely see me back dining at Bobby's!

Great local place! Really excellent apps, fantastic wine selection. Sommelier helped us pic a new favorite! We'll definitely be back for another bottle. Salads very fresh, service excellent. Not perfect but as close as you'll get around Deerfield.

Overall the atmosphere is nice and the staff seemed semi friendly (nothing to write home about). But there were a few things that left a bad taste in my mouth. First, there is no baby changing station in the restrooms. Huge deal for parents of babies. They suggested we change her in the private room in back...but there was nowhere to lay her down. Ultimately it was huge crying fest because we had to lay her on a hard table. Next, I ordered the gnocchi. It says it's in a beef brisket ragu. When I think of ragu, I imagine small chunks (think meat sauce). But it was giant chunks of beef and not very appetizing. Finally, I don't think they are used to larger parties (10 plus). Lots of confusion when ordering, and only brought one dessert menu for 14 people! Also they served tea and coffee before we even ordered dessert. Not impressed.

Nice pleasant place in downtown Deerfield. Decor and atmosphere are average, if not mediocre. I liked the service, high level. It is good place for lunch, several interesting salads, liked fish sald, quite tasty. Soups and appetizers are pretty good too. Prices are on the higher side, but not overly expensive

Bobby's is a great addition to Deerfield; The atmosphere is not typical suburban.. there is a bit of an urban vibe which is refreshing. When the weather permits, dining al fesco is the only way to go & Bobby's has a great patio, with comfy, casual seating. The food is consistent, with a decent variety & a menu that changes from time to time. The Salads and appetizers are great for sharing, and better than the entrees. Don't miss the Calamari or the Salmon Pastrami! My only complaint is the wait-staff; once your food is served, they tend to disappear.

  • Thomas O.

The food was good. But, overpriced and a snotty waiter & hostess. Thought we'd give them another chance-first time was just as bad. They won't last. Deerfield gets enamored with trendy new places. Then, we wake up & remember "trendy" doesn't have to mean overpriced & snotty and a lot of places fail here. Tick tock

Bobby's is an excellent addition to Deerfield. Nice and inviting decor with top notch service and a classier menu. It's kind of like going to a smaller Cooper's Hawk (without the nice gift shop unfortuantely) which is quiet enough that you can hear your co-workers and friends. Sweet and spicy calamari - This is served in a huge portion and not deep fried like most restaurants. This is nice as you can use this to accompany any pasta or salad your group may order. Harry's fettuccine - Served with a deep rich alfredo cream sauce and prosciutto, the noodles underneath have a nice al dente texture to them. Fettuccine kale - Many people are scared when they hear the word "kale". But this interpretation tastes more like a fine dining pasta than it does a superhealth food. Bobby's burger - Juicy beef burger made of short rib and ground brisket which makes the meat a bit more tasty than usual. Gnocchi in beef - Generous portion of gnocchi which is not too soft and not too chewy. One of the better ones I've tried in the area. Mediterranean chicken - crispy skin on the outside with moist chicken on the inside. Banana coconut cake - Delicious with a banana cake that is not overwhelming but a strong coconut flavor that helps to make the dessert nice and aromatic. Tiramisu - Excellent with strong flavors. The portion may be small but this dessert packs a punch. Try it, you won't regret it.

I feel split. Service was very good. Bread was excellent (maybe it was the garlic spread), and the space is pleasant. Not a wow, but ok. Dinner was good, but not great. And a little pricey. I'd go back for lunch and give it another try.

Overall: Was there last night and wow was I impressed. I am a regular at cafe lucci ( their other restaurant) and they definitly brought over the family oriented atmosphere and the amazing food to Bobby's. There are no words that can describe how good the food was, except my whole table didn't leave an ounce of food left on their plate. Price: very reasonable for the quality of food you get. Dishes are at every price point, so there is something for everyone. Staff: highly impressed with the staff. It was the second day open and they running smoothly and were very knowledgable of the food. Management very present and involved in the restaurant. Saw general manager going table to table making sure eveything was taken care, as well as making himself available to all of his staffs needs. The short man in the gray suit was everywhere making people happy.. Bobby's Deerfield is a must try!!!!

I've had several late night dinners with friends, at Bobby's, and I've never been disappointed. It's nice having an upscale place, with late night hours, in the heart of Deerfield. Their menu is varied, with gourmet classics and many options for the adventurous. Every dinner I've had was expertly prepared, without a single flaw. The portions are generous, which is good for a monster like me. They have one of the nicest bars in the neighborhood, with a nice variety of wine, spirits, beer, and skilled bartenders that can prepare just about any drink to wet your whistle. Their cocktails are strong, by default. The whole restaurant has a stylish contemporary look, with the creative lighting setting a nice mood in the evening. The staff are all friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to serve. I'm glad Bobby's appears to be doing well, as I definitely enjoy having an option for superb late night dinners and drinks.

Very impressed! Great Food, Great Service! I would recommend making reservations. We went on a Wednesday nite and it was packed, 2 hour wait for dinner. They served us dinner in the bar. Bar area has nice size tables for small parties. Limited menu but still hard to decide, all dishes and specials sounded great! Extensive wine menu! We both had the same dish - Harry's Fettuccine - absolutely fabulous! Not the usual fettaccine drowning in a creamy cheese sauce! This was browned/crusted on the top! Dessert - had to try dessert since the meal was so fab! Triple Chocolate Cheesecake! Definitely a WINNER! Overall, extremely satisfied with this restaurant. We are out of towners, traveling for business. I depend on YELP to help pick restaurants! Thank you to the other YELPers that posted comments here. Thank you Bobby's for a wonderful dinner in Chicago!!

I traveled from the City to try Bobbys..and I'm glad I did! The decor really sets the tone for a great experience. The bar has a light blue red glow accompanied with soft lighing throught the rest of the resturant. Its a great place for dinner with friends or to impress a first date. I had the portabella mushroom with a basalmic reduction fresh basil and tomato on top, which was excellant. The basil really made the dish. For the man course, I had the filet minion with goat cheese and also a basalmic reduction. Me personally, there was a little too much goat cheese. It is a strong cheese and I lost the taste of he actual meat (I like when the meat speak for itself!) Also, I enjoy spiceson my steak, which this one did not have. My personal preferneces aside, I loved my meal and will definately be back!!! Ps my waitress Jane was great too :-)

Absolutely fantastic. Despite being open only ten days, the staff was in great shape and the food was great. We had a party of six, split three appetizers, two bottles of the low end merlot, and had entrees. The wine did not taste low end, the appetizers, especially the crab cakes and calamari, were rated by us as 'best ever had'. For entrees, Harry's fettuccini was enjoyed by three of us, and I personally found the beef gnocci outstanding. Definitely worth it, but get a reservation!

Went on a Saturday night with a reservation. Was seated within 5-10 minutes of arriving which I was happy about. Everything we had at the table was good and I would go back. I welcome Bobby's to the North Shore dining scene, you were needed.

Went to the soft opening last night of Bobby's Deerfield, the new restaurant by the Arifi brothers, owners of the great Cafe Lucci in Glenview - VERY impressive. The restaurant manages to be refined and foodie-friendly, but still comfortable enough to feel like a neighborhood place where everyone (will soon) know your name. Extensive bar with craft cocktails and small-batch, upscale spirits used even for their standard pours; great craft beer list and interesting wine list. The menu isn't huge but offers a nice variety of styles and sizes, from starters like house-cured salmon pastrami, and crabcakes that are actually worth eating, to a spicy calamari and giant portion of fresh burrata. Same with entrees, from casual to refined - highlights included a fabulous brisket and beef burger, homemade gnocchi with beef ragu, fresh whitefish crusted with thin sliced potatoes and light lemon sauce. Desserts, especially banana and chocolate cakes, were generous and great. But the quality of the execution really distinguished the meals from the standard suburban fare that (IMHO) often overreaches or just bores. Welcome touches all added to the experience - free valet parking, attentive hosts, service that (while still working out the usual opening kinks) is clearly aimed high. And, wonderfully, the place is conversation-friendly even with a full house. A really worthy addition to the suburban restaurant scene!

We were a group of 8 on a Saturday night. After receiving one small loaf of bread, we asked for more and received one more loaf, although the busboy first removed the bread (not understanding our request). When 2/3 was eaten, he removed the bread and we weren't asked if we wanted more. Our waitress disappeared for long lengths of time, and we weren't asked about taking our order or if we had questions until 45 minutes after we were seated. Hard to tell if it's a waitstaff issue or she simply was overworked.Midway through dinner, two of our party went to use the restrooms- they were out of order. When we asked our waitress, she shrugged. Only upon leaving did we discover restrooms in a neighboring vacant building were available. Why no sign posted? Do you not care about your patrons' comfort? Noise level made conversation impossible. Place tries to be young and hip with that kind of noise level, but it doesn't work with the crowd (mostly over 50). Bottom line - There aren't many places like Bobby's in that area, and it could be much better if management works with its waitstaff and considers the experience from its customers' viewpoint.

I guess when you live in the burbs, you just dont expect that much anymore and this place exemplifies that precisely. Its hipper than most burb chain restaurants- ill give it that. Has a better drink menu that most as well. That said- our waiter didnt even know much about the various beers and some of the entrees. Ok, I can forgive everything is the food stand out. It doesnt. In fact, salad was overdressed and the gnocchi was nothing special. Kind of taste like beef stew. Its easy to get excited about interesting restaurants in the burbs but cmon guys, this place really isnt that good.

The food, Service, Decor and Owners Bobbie & Augie are the Best. Every time I eat there I am greeted like I am family. I asked One of the owners if they ever have Baked Clams on special. He gave me his cell phone and said give me three days notice and I will have them for you. I recommend Bobbie's you won't be disappointed.

Overall, the food was mediocre. There is much better food at many restaurants nearby. The service was awful. I couldn't believe how incompetent our waiter was all night. I was embarrassed for him. The atmosphere is cool and urban-like. The prices were high given the quality of food and service. I would not recommend this place at all for dining but maybe just meeting at the bar for a drink.
