I ordered crab rangoon and spicy chicken pad Thai, and my food was ready when I arrived to pick it up and still hot when I got home. The service is curt, but not rude, and it does not appear that many dine-in since there was only one couple eating here when I stopped in on a Friday night. The interior is about what you would expect at a casual, mostly take-out, Thai or Chinese restaurant. It appears clean, but the inside does not offer much more than that. The food is pretty good. After reading several reviews regarding the food being too sweet, I made sure to order my pad thai "spicy," which was a success. It was spicy and not at all sweet. The sauce was flavorful, and the noodles were topped with freshly chopped cabbage, carrots and bean sprouts. The only thing missing were the peanuts. The noodles were good, but the chicken was too dry. I would order the pad thai again, but maybe with shrimp next time. The crab rangoon was OK, not a "must have." They were under-stuffed and the accompanying sauce was too thin and watery for my liking. Right now I live less than 2 miles from here, so I definitely plan to try Thai O'Cha again when the Thai craving kicks in. I plan to try out some other Thai restaurants nearby first.

Fresh food, nice staff, food quantity was more than enough, i went there with a friend and we ordered salmon. Salmon fillet was bigger than normal serving (which i liked most) and food was so fresh and delicious Server was very nice and the head cook who was with us to ask about food quality Great experience Must try

This is our second trip here & I'm sad to say we won't be back. We ordered the appetizer sampler which consisted of 3 pot stickers, 3 crab rangoons, shrimp rolls and 6 baby chicken egg rolls. All of the elements we over fried, chewy, and very tough to eat. For the entree, I ordered the mixed seafood Tom Kha. The actual flavor was delicious, don't get me wrong but when I asked the server what type of seafood was in the soup, she tells me shrimp, crab, scallop and squid, I expected fresh & I definitely did not get fresh. The crab was imitation & all of the seafood (which was very minimal) was very tough. Thai O'Cha needs a food facelift before we will go back again.

This literally was the BEST Thai food we've ever had. Holy smokes. We got the pad Thai and pineapple red curry. I can't say enough good things about this place. Go go go!!!

Used to eat here a lot. Today's take out order wasn't so good. Not consistent with my last order weeks ago, maybe they changed cooks. Serving is also smaller and price is more. The calamari tempura is like 8.95 and there are like 6 rings of squid tempura. The chicken they used on my basil fried rice and pad thai are hard don't know if its overcooked or not fresh. Thai ocha crunchy chicken suppose to be crunchy and it is not, not even any batter on the chicken although taste is same. I put 2 stars because i still believe it will get better...hopefully. Disappointed :(

Found this restaurant while driving back to Chicago. Extremely fast service and all of our food was delicious (little left on our plates). We ordered crab rangoon, chicken satay, and Panang curry. The curry had just the right amount of spice and the peanut sauce for the satay was rich with a little bit of crunch (a good thing!). The restaurant seems to be more of a take out place but we were definitely not disappointed.

A coworker and I came here for lunch, and we both ordered the Cashew Chicken. For $9, the portion was small, and the food was much too sweet. The rice was also a little dry. The food alone was 1 star, but they get 1 more star for decent service. Overall I don't recommend eating here.

Wait. I don't understand. How have I not written a review for this place yet? Our move to the suburbs included many obstacles, one of which was finding a thai food place that was actually good AND knew what "make it spicy" meant. After striking out at other places, Thai O'Cha was recommended by an ex-suburbanite at work. We pulled up the place, walked in, and immediately thought, "this can't be right". It was (is) a bit sad looking inside. True to our adventurous selves, we decided to try it anyway. It was love at first bite. Every time we eat at the restaurant there is a pretty consistent flow of pick-up orders. Majority of the time we pick-up as well. The Tom Kha soup is always delicious, and even better when you are sick. It has that comforting, wrapped-arms-around-you feeling... except in your belly. The curries (we've had red, green, panang, mussamun, and pineapple curries) are always great. Without additional instructions they come pretty mild (though mussamun is more of a sweet curry), but if you say "spicy" it has a nice lip-tingle. If you repeat it, and say "extra spicy" it has the ability to make your face all good and red. It's awesome. Don't do it on a date if you're a sweaty one to start. The Pad Kee Mao and Pad Si-Ew are good. I'm not a wide noodle lover (I always think of the Lost Boys scene, even though it's not noodles, don't ask me why....Michael), but my husband is, and he loves it. I can say that the flavor is good though. I do go for the Pad Thai though when something simple is needed. I've had better, but I can't remember where, and this is way better than some of the other places nearby, so it's a win. One of my favorite dishes though is the ginger roasted duck (yum). The basil fried rice is okay... nothing to write home about, but it's good if you want something else that is simple and don't want noodles or soup when you're sick. So, appetizers: neither of us was a fan of the baby chicken egg rolls. In all of the dishes, chicken is good (so is the beef, tofu, and shrimp), but the chicken was particularly mushy in these rolls. Maybe we just couldn't get past the texture, I don't know, but I can put that money towards something else (like a thai ice tea! perfect with the spicy food!). The crab rangoon are standard, not bad, not great, but good. We sometimes get some kind of rolls, but I'd might be lying if I had to name them. It's not the fresh ones, it's the fried ones, and they're okay too. The people that always work there are really nice. They are sometimes hard to understand, but we've never had an issue with our orders. It would be nice to have some consistency on the amount of soup you get when you order a "large" though. Sometimes the container is full, and sometimes (like last night) it is 3/4ths full. That is not so cool, especially considering that 1) I know exactly how many ladle scoops to use to stretch it for two meals, and 2) if I pay $10 for soup I want all of it... not $7 amount and pay $10. So now that I've written this, it seems that we may have a thai food addiction problem. Now we just need to try some of the other things on the menu!

The service is good but not my go to place for thai foods. Wasted $12.40 for a chicken pad thai and thai ice tea. The drink is too sweet and has no thai tea taste. The pad thai is also very sweet, basically has noodles and chicken, no other vegetables.

Really good authentic Thai. On the expensive side for smallish satay but quite good. Best peanut sauce ever with subtle tamerind taste. Grapow is good but with purple thai basil makes this ground chicken dish pop. Paad see ewe outstanding. Fresh bright veggies in the dishes. Small upstart strip mall environment. I like the new purple paint on the walls...slightly exotic contrast but this place could use a little design help...but is just a small family place. What it lacks in posh it makes up in authentic food...chicken chopped with a cleaver and texture added to the savory nature if the dish. Wait staff are there because they love thai food and are willing to talk about it. I also love the section of special dishes at the front of the menu.

Good thai food. Service is good, but can be slow. I don't recommend the place if you're in a hurry, but otherwise it's great. I only ever had one bad experience there, but it never stopped me from going back. I had ordered a Panang curry and asked for it mild. What I got was so spicy I had to stop and run next door to Culvers for ice cream. Otherwise, it's been one happy experience after another. Not great groups larger than 6, but otherwise have at it!

Tasty, authentic Thai food made by an actual Thai lady. I agree with the other reviewer who said the food tends to be on the overly sweet side, but you can always ask for the cook to make your dish less sweet. Ironically, our favorite dish here isn't even Thai. It's the beef noodle soup with extra cilantro. They make it with chewy rice noodles which we prefer over the thicker flour noodles (e.g. at katy's).

Stick to carry out. While this place has great food it is definitely a family owned restaurant. The dining room isn't the best, very simple. Also, after a night out with my family it turned out that they couldn't handle the traffic. Many people arrived at once and we ended up waiting an hour for our food as well as some others waiting. Even after the hour they didn't get our order right. Not to blame them or anything because it's hard when all you got is the family in the kitchen cooking. Despite that experience the Thai food from there is my favorite of this entire area of the suburbs. The spicy basil leaf dish with chicken is a favorite among everyone I know. They're curry is also real good. So order from them ONLY if you have the patience to spare otherwise save the headache and go to another Thai place.

This place is hands down awesome. The owner is very friendly and makes the best pad see ewe I have ever had. Since they updated the decor the place feels complete. I love that they cater to my vegetarian sister also.

The decor here could really (!!) use a refresh, but the food is pretty solid. My server was great, recommending a menu item (basil chicken with fried rice) which was delicious and brought the heat. My dining companions were less satisfied with their choices, however. One of the menu items containing pineapple was found to be too sweet to be enjoyable (sorry, I can't remember exactly which one). I do wish they offered a lunch menu, but even so, I'll come back for the basil chicken.

It's so far the best in the area that's why I drove about 15 minutes to get there. But disappointed I was. If you've ever been pregnant you probably know about a pregnant lady & her food. So I had the worst craving for padthai. Ordered and went to pick up, when I got home there was no lime in the package. I may be mistaken but I'm about 80% sure that all pad thai comes with lime. Come on now that's what adds flavor. I started literally bawling my eyes out for a good 20 minutes. Way to make a pregnant woman cry! so I'm sorry but I won't be back - id rather stick to Thai happiness- cause they make me happier.

Thai O'Cha just gained themselves a new, loyal customer today. My mom and I were in the area to do some grocery shopping and were hungry so we searched for Thai restaurants in the area and this one popped up. It's really small and dingy looking outside and inside, but if you can overlook that detail you'll have yourself a satisfying meal. It might not be the greatest place if you're looking for a certain ambiance but if you're in the mood for authentic Thai food this place is for you. We started out with a large bowl of Tom Yum Soup to share between my mom and I. They give you 3 options in terms of spiciness: Mild, Medium, or Spicy. If a restaurant throws in an option between Mild and Spicy you know that the Spicy will certainly be spicy. We love, love, love spicy food so of course we went with the latter. We it arrived it lived up to it's expectations. It was plenty spicy but nothing I couldn't handle. It's probably not for the weak hearted though. You could see little pieces of chopped chili peppers swimming around the soup. It was great. My mom ordered the Beef Panang Curry. I got a little taste of it and it was very flavorful. I ordered the Catfish Curry and asked for it to be spicy.The catfish is very soft, buttery, and delicious. The eggplant was also a really good addition to it. The curry wasn't too soupy, which tends to be my gripe with other Thai restaurants' rendition of curry. There weren't that many pieces of catfish, but it balanced out well with the amount of eggplant they put in. Everything ended up being $35, which is not bad at all for the amount of food we ordered. By the end of the meal my mom and I were beyond satisfied. We didn't have enough space for dessert. I really wanted to have dessert too because they have my favorite sticky rice and mango on their menu and I wanted to try it. But oh well, next time. Because there most certainly will be a next time.

My BF's company moved so I needed to find a place for good Thai food when I visit him for lunch. This place is dingy and small, but it's really good!! I highly recommend the Basil Chicken.. YUM. Their Tum Yum Soup was pretty good too. Update - 12/23 Went here again yesterday with my boyfriend and their pad-see-ew is fantastic!! Got the Basil Chicken again and it was just as fabulous as the first time!!

I have tried many thai restaurants in my life time. I love thai food! I saw good ratings so decided to try this place on my lunch break. I must say I was very upset. Overall everything is poor value for the price although the food was passable. The pad thai order was very small. One quarter of the container was cabbage. The beef was tough. The fried rice was swimming in oil at the bottom of the container. chicken satay sticks were tiny and $7.50 for 5 pieces. Their credit card machine was not working. They did not take checks so we had to get cash. 37 dollars of food between 2 people and we were left hungry.

Wow... This is right across my fave Japanese lil place called Chiba.... The place is tiny, with about 10 tables.... I won't even eat there... For free.... The ambiance is blah. Looks like a cheap outdated cafeteria. However.... Food is surprisingly good :) Our first carry out today... I was excited to try something new. I ordered the ff: Fried tofu --- meh Papaya salad --- a lot of people had good reviews.... I didn't like it. Chicken green curry --- pretty good Beef Pad sew eiw --- love it, soft pasta.... Flavorful beef... Hmmmm mmmmm Chicken basil fried rice -- spicy but oh sooo yummy, but chicken was dry :( Sticky rice ---- my favorite... I can eat this all day... Theres two parts... Sticky chewy rice, and coconut custard of some sort.... I bet that sticky rice is 1000 calories.... Lolz... But I would totally go against my diet... This was sinfully good... My bf loved it too.... Spent $49....not bad at all, for the amount of food... Definitely better than ordering Chinese.... I can't wait to try their soups and everything else....

I was challenged by dh to find a place near home for dinner that we hadn't been. Surprised to find this place on Yelp especially how close it is to where we live. Now I have a new favorite place for Thai! The place was small but very clean. For appetizer we ordered fried Tofu and fish cake. Same sauce for both appetizers (lime juice, crushed peanuts, sweet and a some hot pepper), very fresh and tasty. Fish cake was a little dry. We shared a papaya salad and it was crunchy and as fresh as can be. For entrees we ordered: Pha thai with shrimp, Basil Fried Rice, Green Curry with Chicken and Pad Red catfish (A) ... all of them very tasty. My daughter (2 1/2) really enjoyed the fried rice even tho it was still a little bit on the spicy side without the jalapeno. The catfish in red curry paste was very very flavorful. For dessert we had fresh Mango with coconut sweet rice, yum! The thai iced tea was very good at $1.95 at least 1-2 dollar cheaper than the other Thai place I usually go to. However they charged $1 per person for either Green tea or Jasmine tea.

Just moved into the area and ordered takeout from here. For a suburb Thai place, this place has pretty good food. What we ordered: 1) Tom Yum soup w/h Shrimp: Too much lime but overall decent 2) Chicken Pad Thai: Spicy and really good! 3) Red Curry: Little on the bland side. Should have gotten panang instead. 4) Crunchy chicken: Really good! Great flavor! 5) Pad Se Ew with beef: Good. Wish the beef was a little more fried crispy though. 6) Curry Fried Rice: Very weird flavor. Too much pepper and too much curry power. Not a fan.

I love Thai food but not many places meet my standards. Overall, this area doesn't have much that's good, I've tried most of them. This place is awesome. Tom Yum soup is perfect and every entree I've tried has been just what I wanted! What a great find!

When I am in the mood for thai food, this is where I tend to go even though I have to drive a little further from my house to get it. I have never had a bad dish here...honestly!! My favorites include: Pad see eiw with beef Basil chicken Pad thai with chicken Thai fried rice with beef Panang chicken (although I prefer Thai Happiness in Downers Grove) Red snapper with chili sauce Papaya salad Thai beef salad I usually judge a thai place based on the quality of their pad see eiw. Thai O'Cha has AWESOME pad see eiw and their food is just generally solid. I highly recommend!!! One note though...don't expect to dine in close to closing time. When they say they close at 9pm (or whenever), they really intend to walk out the door at that time. No kidding!! Expect take out that night.

Wow this place is awesome. The ladies that work here are genuinely super sweet and get your order correct every time. Best Thai food I've ever had, and they do not skimp on ingredients like some places where they give you 2 pieces of tofu and 100 onions. Darn good. This place is so unassuming and modest that my wife made me pose as a lost motorist so I could go inside and check it out while she and my daughter waited in the car. We've all been there. Me: "This place doesn't look like much but my brethren on Yelp say it's good." My wife: "It looks like a dump, and remember how "your brethren on Yelp" led us astray as it relates to that abominable restaurant in Annapolis called Lures?" Me: " Oh yeah, there's that. Let's give it a try, and if it's bad, I'll buy you a new outfit from Lululemon." My wife: "Make it two outfits." My 5 year old daughter: "Yeah, and if it's bad, you have to buy me Barbie: A Mermaid Tale 2." Well folks, the fantastic food and service that this place serves up saved me a couple of hundred dolares. My wife loved it, my daughter loved it, and of course I loved it. So I was able to avoid any punitive shopping! Everything from the satay to the Thai egg rolls, the Pad See Uw to the roasted duck curry......It was all fantastic. And I love the fact that it's a family business. Our server was the daughter and niece of the two cooks. Bare in mind that the digs are not plush. And when we arrived at 7:30 on a Saturday evening, the place was dead. However, It was packed by 9:00 and there was a constant stream of take out customers. I would give the place 5 stars if not for the fact that it's bring your own alcoholic beverages-something that I find to be a pain in the ass.

First visit fared pretty well. No problem getting a table for dinner, and food came out in due time. Tried their Calamari Salad, and the wife's Chicken Massaman Curry. I ordered mine spicy, and it lived up to the bill. Spicy as hell, forcing me to keep the ice water nearby. Seasoned, fresh cut vegetables paired well with this squid dish. My only quam would be that the calamari were a tad chewy. A decent sized dish for most, but for me it's maybe better shared among two or three before a main course. My wife's Massaman Curry was solid, and I only heard its praises. Being one of the closer Thai joints to home, we'll certainly be back for more.

While some of the dishes can crank up the heat, this isn't the spiciest of Thai food options out there but it is some of the best bang for your buck in the area. You might not be getting a lot of heat in the dishes but you will be getting flavor. I haven't eaten in the restaurant and have only gotten it as take out but when I stop in the atmosphere seems a little outdated though it does look clean which isn't the case in many places that need a cosmetic makeover. Love the food, the hostess is always pleasant, and love the value. The chicken pad thai and pineapple rice are two stand outs while the beef spicy basil leaves has become my go-to here when I do want some heat. The Ginger and Garlic dishes also taste good. If you are in the mood for a soup the Tom Kha is delightful Decent crab rangoon that is worth ordering though most of the other appetizers (eggrolls, tofu, shumai, fish cakes, can't say I've tried everything) I've had here have fallen a little short so usually we end up passing on those. You easily get enough food to not need more though.

14 yrs ago, we started going here, with that said, we do "shop around" when new places open, it's not the closest to our house either. But, after being very dissatisfied with the new options we can depend on the quality, spiciness, and variety that our family enjoys. We mostly order all the curries and pad ke mow. When in season the mango and sticky rice is a always a treat. We do take out 90% of the time. (if going for the first time, it's got some tables, but it's not super big just keep an open mind). We just ordered from here again today and wanted to say we are still "happy enough to come back" .

Just had another awesome lunch here! Ordered Som Tom (pappaya salad) extra spicy, wow! was hot and really tasty! Basil Beef (minced beef, the way it supposed to be) also spicy, and really really good. Neua NamTok (don't know the English, probably spicy beef salad), again really authentic and nice and hot. and of course their famous PadSeeEw, so good, can only be done high flame in a big wok I mentioned to the watress to thank Bpa Naeng ("auntie" Naeng, the head cook) for such great food and she made me some fried chicken wings with some insanely hot friend chicken sauce for me and she said it was free of charge! so, so good, I was happy for the whole rest of the day

I've passed this place a bunch of times and never thought anything of it. As I've recently been turned onto thai food I thought it would be worth a try as I was frequenting the Subway next door. I had the chicken pad thai and sampled the beef panang curry. The pad thai was better than most places and the panang had great flavor too. The location and interior are certainly not fancy but the food is good and who needs some fancy, overpriced location when all you want is a good meal?

Delicious dinner. Decor is very basic. Tom Kha soup was nice. Curry duck was good, spice level was still not Thai hot by my standards, but it is rare to find a restaurant that really does it up. Calamari was a bit generic but still good. I enjoyed the experience, and given the reasonable prices it is an overall thumbs up.

I've eaten here a bunch and in my opinion, this is the best Thai place you will find in the Naperville, DG, Woodridge, Darien area. Other places have let me down with their ingredients or weird substitutions, but Thai O'Cha did not. There has been Thai pop music when I've walked in and ordered, which I found to put me in the right mentality because they weren't trying to be pretentious and too fake/traditional. Overall, I would say their dishes are good - the laab, kra pao, rad na, are all things I would recommend. However, their mango with sticky rice is the main reason I marked them down. The rice was burned and hard, which totally ruined it, and there wasn't enough sauce either. On top of that, their kai billo has been inconsistent, and it is a soup that I really like, so if you want soup, order Tom Yum instead.

I paid a recent visit to Thai O'Cha when I was in the neighborhood and am happy to report that the food was as good as I remember in my early days. It's nothing fancy inside, but the food is definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.

Some of the best Thai I've had in a while. Like one of the earlier reviewers said this isn't your average Thai. It had more of a Southern smoky flavor, though I didn't ask where in Thailand they were from. Very excellent flavor actually. Staff is friendly. I must be very picky about chicken red curry, because every place I try doesn't make it the way I prefer (very soupy, really spicy). The only place I liked was out in Aurora but that's now too far away to drive on a whim. Like Chinese food, it's one of those first dishes I try if I haven't eaten there before. It's so basic (for Thai), that if you mess it up, the rest of your dishes are most likely not going to be any better. The place is small and dingy but don't let that dissuade you. Some of the dirtiest rundown places I've cringed at ended up having the most amazing food - just don't use that as a rule! The food is top notch and consistent. I've tried enough of the menu that it'd take too long to write out in a review, but I will say that the chicken red curry is sufficiently soupy and will burn you a new throat hole if you request it (I love mine nuclear spicy, which many places are hesitant to oblige). Definitely is my go-to place when I crave Thai.

Im just gonna be honest here....ive been going for lunch to places to find whats good and they dident even have a lunch menu, my friend and i got small soups for five bucks and the portion was waaaay small, i ordered a thai coffee when i first sat down and dident get it till half way threw my meal. Our waitress was very nice tho when she saw my friend barley touched his soup ( we dont like Kemow noodles) she insisted that we tell her if we dident like it and that the food was good. i hade tom kai with chicken and it was good but nowhere near the best. Overall i wont be going back

Maybe there's a reason I'm the first to review Thai O'Cha. Maybe it's because this is a small, seemingly family-run homey restaurant is in an equally small, dinky strip mall in the middle of Darien, an even dinker, smaller, quieter suburb. So at this tiny restaurant in this small strip mall in a dinky suburb is served some delicious Thai food. The flavors are quite distinct from other Thai places I've been. You know how Thai food more or less has similar flavors, as long as you go to a decent place? O'Cha puts out food with flavors that make it stand out. One of my favorite dishes here is the O'Cha Chicken Delight (Crispy Fried Chicken). When it's made freshly fried, the batter is crisp, crunchy and really delicious with a sweet&sour type sauce. Another one we get a lot is the salmon with curry sauce. O'Cha took over a previous Thai place, whose name I forgot.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. I have been searching for a GOOD Thai place in the burbs and FINALLY found one. I'm picky about my Thai and this place doesn't disappoint. The owners are super friendly and the place is small and quant. If you live in the area and don't want to have to drive all the way to the city for delicious Thai this is the place.

This was a surprising find considering that this restaurant has been here since 2001. Blink and you'd miss it, they serve very good food here. I think the difference is that they employ a Thai cook. The flavorings are as close as it comes outside of Thailand. Recommended.
