Sometimes you have to deal with some pretty cranky older ladies, but the treats are worth it. The radio bars and gooey butter cake are my favorites. Good, old fashioned treats and always decently priced!

Best bakery in the entire St. Louis Metro area ... bar none. Their cakes have been a family staple for everything from birthdays to anniversaries to holiday events for my entire life (and I'm not young!). They make amazing seasonal cakes, the BEST gooey butter cake and mouth-watering cheese horns. Trust me on this one! ;)

Had our first bad experience last week after many good orders of pastries. Ordered 3 nut rolls. Nut shells in the nut roll made for an unpleasant eating experience. Complained to manager but just got lip service with no apology nor offer of a refund. Arrogant response.

Gooey butter cake is being reviewed on the St Louis yelp this morning. You haven't lived until you had one from Krutas. A friend who has his office in the Merchandise Mart in Chicago was happiest when I showed up with 5 or 6 of them. As a child the aroma passing their bakery made you salviate..Entering this wonderful bakery looking at the assortment of donuts stolens fresh bread and the aroma makes a bad day the best day.. By now you have probably guessed that l love Krutas

When you have a bakery that has been in business this long, you know it's good. The way times have changed people buy their baked good at convenience stores, grocery stores, etc, because it's easier and faster and most of the time cheaper. However, this place has stayed alive for many years and makes some of the most amazing glazed donuts you will ever have. They do holiday cookie orders and donuts and breads, etc etc. Have never been dis-satisfied with anything we have purchased from there. Gooey butter cake - to. die. for. The only real con is that their hours are so limited you can't just pop in for a donut whenever you feel like it. Absolutely worth it, this place is a Collinsville staple and a family tradition like previously mentioned. I remember my grandparents bringing home a box of Kruta's donuts on Sunday morning when *I* was a kid... plan on following the same tradition on occasion with my own family.

This bakery reminds me of the defunct Seibold's bakery chain. Old time bakery with a little bit of everything. Donuts, pastries, pies, cakes, breads, etc. Very good quality. I've been searching for a replacement for the caramel Danish I used to get from Seibold's. Krutas comes darn close! Only 1 complaint - their custard/cream puffs have nice filling but the outside is very dry and flavorless. But everything else is so tasty I'm still giving them 5 stars! Their little round apricot filled pastries are awesome! Also, love the minature pumpking pies. Just right for 1 serving! And...how many places still have you take a number to get served? Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode ("The Dinner Party") where they go to a bakery to get bobka. They don't make bakeries like this anymore...

The only authentic Polish bakery in the St. Louis area! They make great breads and sweet delicacies! However, much to my disappointment, they do not make kolaczki! But don't let that stop you. Everything they make at Kruta's is GOOOOOD!

I was very skeptical about the hype of this place but it has not disappointed! Amazing donuts, large variety, and I can only guess that the other baked goods are equally as good. Cinnamon rolls are great. For something a little different, try a maple & brown sugar frosted roll. This place is definitely worth going out of the way for. If you live in the Metro East, this is one of the best. A little pricey but other than that, no complaints!

This place is a staple in Collinsville. If you live near c-ville then you already know about the awesome cakes, mouth watering gooey butter dessert, and the oh so filling donuts. Simply the best.

I didn't know how good I had it as a kid. Ate Kruta's all the time. Creme de Menth cake, Lemon Crunch Cake, Creme Horns, Raspberry Jelly Donuts (mostly jelly, less donut), Chocolate Frosted Custard Donuts (refrigerated so the custard is nice and cold), and the only Gooey Butter Cake worth eating. This is my favorite bakery in the whole world. I live in New York City. I've been to world famous bakeries and restaurants. I'd rather eat a 99cent Raspberry Jelly Donut from Krutas any day.

We drove a bit to get here. The Yelp review made me do it. That's my story and I am sticking to it...lol Walking in my mom and I scanned the near emnty place. It was very clean. Since I am Italian I am used to Italian bakeries. Where there is essentially a smorgasbord of dessert and cakes as far as your eyes can see. This place barley had a case or two of pastries. Not a smile or a grunt or a how do u do around. Just number. .. (there were 4 of us in there) so I ordered 2 creme puffs and a creme horn and 3doughnuts. They did have fresh baked bread but I didn't get any. The creme puffs were good not OHH MY GOD DEAR JESUS I'M COMING HOME good but still good. The creme horn was very good. Flaky pastry nice creamy texture inside. My husband and mom. Liked the doughnuts. I am still waiting to find a place that makes my eyes roll back in my head and is reminiscent of NYC bakeries. So if any of you YELPERS out there know of any please please please let me know.

As far back as I can remember I have been going to Kruta's, ever since I was in grade school I remember getting donuts on Saturday morning and they still taste the same. Krutas has been around for a long time, as I remember my mother and grandmother talking about going when they were located in East Saint Louis. In addition to donuts Kruta's is a full on bakery, break cakes, pies, you name it they have it. The staff is friendly and the treats are just as good. Everything is made fresh daily, so I highly recommend stoping by Kruta's.

It's been awhile since I've been to Kruta's for donuts, but picked up a half dozen this a.m. - pre-yard sale nourishment! This is the best glazed doughnut that I've had anywhere. Also had a chocolate long john; it was fine, but the glazed donut . . . try it!

A life-long favorite! Amazing donuts and pastries, plus birthdays just wouldn't be the same without a Kruta's cake! Always fresh. Quick, friendly staff.

I don't know what the little chocolate ganache covered pucks of chocolatiness are called, but you should get one. Or three.

I've been to this bakery dozens of times. The donuts are a treat, all freshly made in house, the cakes are something made in heaven, and the service is always wonderful. For small get together it's nice to swing by and pick up a little dessert or pie, donuts are a wonderful thing to grab on the odd Saturday morning. If you happen to be in the area, I would highly recommend you go!

We just moved to Collinsville a couple of months ago. Our first visit to this shop was to get our son's b-day cake. It looked great, and tasted good too! It was Transformers, and my son (along with myself and my husband) couldn't have been happier. I tried one of their pastries while I was there to order the cake, and my kids each got a cookie...mmmm yum is all I can say about that! We will definitely be back for every future b-day!

THE. BEST. BAKERY. ON. EARTH. Seriously, this place is top notch. They have been in business since 1919 and that alone speaks for itself. Somebody mentioned it was pricey, but I actually think their prices are VERY reasonable. These "swanky" new bakeries popping up are much more pricey and don't have anything on the raw deliciousness of Kruta. Of course compared to Wal-Mart bakery sure you may pay a little more, but really the quality is something special. From breads, cakes, pies, pastries of all sorts...some fruit filled, cream filled, chocolate dipped, or sprinkled the possibilities are endless. If you live in the Metro East or even across the river...you need to get yourself some Kruta!!! Good luck deciding what to chose ;)

Hands down the best cake and icing. I would sell my first born if I had to choose between the sweetest most tempting icing in history. If I can't have Kruta cake for my birthday or holiday or whatever then I don't want any. I'd actually throw a fit to get this cake at my age! If you live in IL there is nothing better than a Kruta cake. I used to call it the Soup Nazi's of bakeries cause the ladies kept you in line to use your number and be prepared to give your order. Sadly they've all past or finally retired after 90 years and got a new crew in. Doesn't matter you wont taste anything bad here. Thank God they finally started taking debit/credit cards cause I would miss out on buying the store when I never have enough cash. They've caught up with technology but they still serve down home unique moistest cakes ever. I mean evaa evaa. Every time I introduce a coworker to thier cakes I end up having to make special trips to buy them cakes for their events. I can't say enough about their magical bakery. PS....do not try attempt to buy anything around holidays especially Easter or Christmas (large Catholic populations) cause you'll stand in line for an hour....I'VE DID IT.
