I mean... Where else would we take people new to the area for late night root beer floats?! The options are endless and I've never had anything "so-so". Well uses you count SOOOO SOOO good!

Neat little Drive In Except the servers they've hired recently have no people skills, could care less about customers. Really too bad.

Closed during the winter. Has awesome ice cream!!' It is soft serve with a huge variety of flavors to add. They do not skimp on the candy or toppings if you get a flurry or sundae. Food is not bad. I like the French fries and onion rings. They do not taste greasy. The burgers and chicken strips are basic but good. The rare giant pretzel is giant! It can feed multiple people. The root beer is good and they also have birch beer, cream soda, and orange cream. Service is very friendly. If you elect to order through the drive up (eat in your car) be prepared to pay cash. It could have changed as it has been a while since we used drive up but when we did they required cash.

The root beer is so unique and great. The food is decent too, made to order. Worth the stop!

Great portion sizes for the price point! BLT lots of bacon, good amount of meat on the beef tacos and the pieces of cod were thick and crunchy. Fries and Fish tasted extremely fresh and were crispy. Nice job keeping that oil clean Sam's! Only thing I didn't like was that the coleslaw and tarter sauce were way to sweet for my taste. Didn't have any ice cream or root beer but that looked good too.

Pretty much the only actual restaurant I've eaten at in Byron. They sell their rootbeer by the gallon, which is amazing. The food is decent. The restaurant is clean. A long-time favorite spot of mine when in the area during the summer.

Came here because we looked online for a great drive-in to make a pit stop at on our way from Chicago to Galena. From the homemade root beer, to the decor, to the service, food, and old school cars, this will probably be a permanent pit stop for us now on our drive in to Eagle Ridge. Drove up and they have spots where you can park and walk inside, pull your car up and order, or order and eat outside on picnic tables. We had our dog with us so we decided to order inside and eat outside at the picnic tables. One of the workers was very friendly and offered a "doggy sundae" to our dog of a small cup of soft serve with two small dog biscuits as toppings. Our pooch definitely appreciated that. Ordered the Sam's burger with lettuce and special sauce, brother ordered the double cheeseburger with special sauce and a Sam's root beer. We also got dessert, I got a small vanilla cone dipped in sprinkles and peanuts, brother got a large twist cone dipped in chocolate. The burger was great. This seems to be a somewhat popular local place, so there was about a 10 minute line to order, but it's worth it. The burger is exactly what you want in a traditional small town drive in burger- juicy, greasy, big buttery bun, iceburg shaved lettuce, and a slightly pickley mayonnaisy "special sauce". Fries are great, and I was pleasantly surprised in their root beer. They were out of diet so I didn't order it myself, but I tried some of my brother's regular and it was great. You can also buy it by the half gallon to go. Ice cream was exactly what I wanted, the same kind of soft serve I would get as a kid walking down to the local ice cream shop in my hometown. Sams' Drive-In, keep doing what you're doing because we'll be back!

Only had the root beer and my girlfriend had the root beer float. Both fantastic.

Great small town drive- in diner. They have plenty of seating indoors as well as picnic tables outside. Had the Big Tex burger and it was delicious. I don't drink pop anymore, otherwise I would have loved to have had their Root Beer and Orange Cream Soda. I love the decor here with all the classic car memorabilia. Service was great.

We have been taking my daughter out to the White Pines Ranch Horse Camp for the past 4 years now and each time we have been stopping here for lunch so it has unintentionally become a tradition. We keep coming back here on account of consistency. The food comes out as expected, tastes good, the waitstaff is very pleasant, the dinning area and bathrooms are clean and to top it all off, the ice-cream is really good! The menu is typical of a 1950's style Drive-In and I've tried a number of items with my favorite being the trusty good old cheese burger. I like the way it is grilled. I'm not a huge fan of french fries, but I do like theirs. The ice-cream cones and shakes are just wonderful... especially so on a hot, lazy summer day. Although we only come here twice a year, I've found myself looking forward to the visit each time.

Great little mom & pop restaurant, they have car hop service, or you can go inside. On our trip we didn't order any of the food, we went there specifically for the ice cream, and the ice cream was great. The staff was fast and friendly, the night we went it took longer than usual to get our ice cream because the place was packed. They are closed in the winter months.

We have come here forever - food has always been great. The last trip there was disappointing - rubbery chicken sandwich.

We live just up the street from Sam's. It is a favorite place of ours...especially our kids. They have all the standard drive in fare, hot dogs, burgers, etc. They have homemade root beer and birch beer...my fave. My wife is addicted to the coney fries. Great soft serve and a wide variety of waffle cones. Only one problem... The wait...it can be quite a long time for your order...even for something simple. Overall great place tho.

My fiance has been raving about Sam's forever to me, and in a recent trip out this way I finally got to experience it for myself. Gotta say, not bad at all! This place is straight out of Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. A fun small town little drive in that seems to be THE place to go on a nice summer day. The food was delicious, the shake was exceptional and the root beer? Come for the food and stay for the free refills on root beer... And take a gallon to go as I did. On a quick side note, their coney dog was good, sweet, and not what I expected when I saw "Coney Dog", however, still delicious.

Food is delicious! Atmosphere & staff attitude was wonderful! Great experience! A "must stop" for your summer journey! The "Drive In" feel is awesome! Prices are average for this type of restaurant! We had a very pleasant experience and enjoyed the food very much. We highly recommend Sam's and we will be back!

The root beer here is tasty and definitely a must-have. But the fried chicken, that is why we come to Sam's. We've never had better fried chicken and potatoes, they are definitely worth the short wait. Finish your meal with a hot fudge sundae, and you've got yourself one heck of a date. Great family atmosphere, nice place to bring friends.
