When you live in, or near, Chicago, the general rule of thumb is that there are no good pizza joints out of the area. Most times it's unfortunately very true, but then you have Costa's out in Byron. They make a super great thin crust that will rival most good pizza places here in the city. Their sausage, mushroom, green pepper and onion - can't forget those! - is my absolute favorite! And so good, we find ourselves polishing off any left overs a little later. We head down to this area about once a year, and although have ventured out to other places, this is hands down the best dinning experience in that general area. Cute place, we generally go during Homecoming season, so there is always a good group of kids enjoying their meal before the dance here. They have a good selection of wines - and their house is very tasty. $5 a glass, and it's a good sized glass here too...not a teaser. Service could be a little better...but they're generally busy...and we have never sat so long where we've gotten frustrated - or cold spit on food. Have tried some of their other offerings - a good selection of pastas here, and they're pretty darn tasty too. But the pizza is the best! Their prices are very much in line with the casual Italian, and they've now expanded to a carry out section as well. Really worth the visit. Wish we brought more pizza home with us!

Water dripping from overhead cooling vents. There was no pre bussing before dinner our table is overloaded with dirty dishes. Dinner came out in 3 different waves and took 7-10 minutes for everyone to receive a meal. Waiter doesn't know the beer menu. No filet available even tho it was on menu at 6pm on a sat night. Only house wine available. Out of risotto by pm....

HORRIBLE!! Stay away from here! Owner limited the menu to an $85 item, $95 item and $105 item. That is not a misprint. We ordered iced teas before seeing the menu, asked about the pricing and decided to leave. Did not drink theiced teas when they arrived, but offered to pay for them, and they took our money....$8 for 3 untouched iced teas. classless.

This restaurant should be on the top list for the Northern Illinois area. Great Italian American food! I have dined here many times and have yet to be dissappointed. Try the 18oz Ribeye.

I was here with my wife for a wedding rehearsal dinner. They did pretty well with serving the 30 of us, although it took quite a while to get the drink orders down. The food was all pretty good. Dinner Bread - Decent, but would be better warmed Salad - Great flavor, but way too many olives! Pizza - Awesome, no complaints! Various Pastas - Nothing special here. Tasted like boxes of cheap store pasta with cans of Ragu pasta sauce. This is definitely not authentic Italian, but it's not a bad stop. I can't comment on the price since our meal was paid for!

At first glance, Costa's is your typical small town Italian joint, nothing too fancy. The restaurant has a large dining area and bar, and next to the bar is the obligatory pizza delivery complete with a drive through pick-up window. While the pizza is pretty decent, the pasta and other food is mediocre at best. I've had several disappointments with the food. If you're dining at the restaurant, service leaves much to be desired, so be prepared for a lackluster dining experience. I strongly recommend sticking with the pizza if you don't want to be disappointed. Oh, and always double check your pick-up order before you leave. They've forgotten certain items on multiple occasions.

Pizza, especially the meat lovers, is among the best I've had. That's usually what I stick to whenever we have an opportunity to pick one up in the area. The few other dishes I have tried over the years have been hit and miss.

The pizza is great, the pasta dishes are okay, but the non pasta entreés I've had here have been amongst the better meals I've had outside of Rockford. I've had no problems with the staff and have never had any missing items from a pick up order.

The Italian Beef is amazing! It comes on a delicious roll and we always order ours with Mozzarella cheese on top. My husband usually orders his own (they come with fries) and my daughter and I split one (they are huge). We have loved every meal we have eaten here at Costa's and the prices are right. Not sure about the reviewer that said that the owner limited the menu to an $85 item, $95 item and $105 item. That may have been for a special event. It sure isn't the case on a day to day basis. Great pizza. Great Italian food. But what we love is the Italian beef.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
