They get 4 stars for fresh ingredients--I stopped in while in town on a business trip, and was pleasantly surprised--not the best Chinese fare I've ever had, but for a $6.60 lunch special the quality was very good. The Hot & Sour soup had a hearty beefiness to it, and the Mongolian Beef had fresh sliced button mushrooms and onions. Not the most complex flavor profile for Mongolian Beef, but the fact that they didn't use canned mushrooms, that they had good-sized portions, and that the service was very friendly deserves a good review. Definitely worth a try if you're in Antioch and are in the mood for Chinese fare.

Just moved to Antioch recently and tried a few of the local Chinese restaurants. This is by far the best Chinese food in the area. The ingredients are fresh and the sauces are not overly think like most places. The food comes very close to the restaurant, Chef Ping, in Rolling Meadows which Yahoo named the best Chinese food in Illinois.

Not bad...semi average chinese food~we had orange chicken (daughter had a lot of fat not trimmed off)~egg drop soup pretty ok...hubby had hot & sour soup which smelled & tasted off~crab rangoon more lke crab salad..too sweet & not creamy~pork fried rice had nice flavor but dry..we only ordered cause listed as delivery & even though 5-7min away they said "out of their range"...hubby had to pick up~Can't see making this our go to chinese...edible but not our favorite...will go pick up at our trusted place! =)

Finally, decent Chinese food. We have been searching for a good place in the area and every place we tried failed. Not anymore. We will be coming back. Spring and egg rolls were great. Fried rice was not greasy. Our entrée weren't floating in sauce which made me very happy. The amount of food is a lot but I am ok with leftovers for lunch. We will be back.

Honestly, the best Chinese in the area that I have tried. We drive from Round Lake to pick it up. The fried rice is delicious and authentic, unlike the places near me that think orange is the ideal color. Their sesame chicken is the best I've ever eaten and apparently very popular. For Chinese, it's a bit pricey, but the portion sizes are generous and you will have leftovers for days.

We've ordered from here twice and everything has been good. My favorite things here so far - the potstickers, Szechwan chicken and crab Rangoon. I was nervous to try this place out because there was a blonde teenager working at the counter - but she has made some good food recommendations so far and we have been happy with our dinners.

We love their food. Come down from Bristol specifically for the orange flavor chicken and house fried rice. Walk in and order off the menu - 15 mins later out the door with dinner!

This place is great. My wife is asian and won't order from anywhere else. The shrimp are huge and so are the portions. When we order we usually eat it for three days.

Just. Great. We live in the middle of the woods and the driver had no problems getting here. Service was excellent, the person who picked up the phone was extremely patient, and delivery time was on point. Food was great, got the Cantonese house special noodles, shrimp with lobster sauce, and beef szechwan. Very satisfied and would recommend!!

Stayed in the area after spending the day at Wilmot. Decided to order from Szechwan Palace since it was right next to the hotel. Phone order was easy and painless. Food was ready in a quick 10-15minutes. Egg rolls were decent. Ordered a tofu dish and Kung Pao shrimp for entrees. Both had this brown drippy gravy which was edible, nothing great though. For ok Chinese food, I suppose it's not bad for the area it's in.

Food was really good! Orange chicken was delicious and not too saucy, which I like. The fried rice and sesame chicken was really good, as well. For the price, it's amazing! What makes this place even better, is that we ordered for carry-out and assumed we ordered from the Wisconsin location, but accidentally ordered from the Antioch location. When we got to Wisconsin, they told us that the delivery guy from the Antioch location will meet us half-way from both locations. When we met the delivery guy, he was extremely nice to us, despite our mistake, and refused to accept our tip. I couldn't believe the phenomenal customer service this place has!

Great Chinese restaurant. Not like all the buffets we have around here. Nice lunch menu too.

It is becoming my experience that finding good sit down Chinese restaurants is challenging in the Northern suburbs of Chicago. Many seem to have gone the way of carry out and no longer wishing to carter to the dine in community. Of course there are a few buffet only places, but I've stopped going to these places around here as they are all of poor quality. For Szechwan Palace, albeit the dinning area would be considered small for the traditional, sit down Chinese place, it is by far one of the larger I've come across in Lake County, IL. (Yangs being the largest I've seen) The seats are comfortable, the place is nicely decorated, and clean. The service is good, even when crowded, the food arrives to the table quickly and hot. If you crave a particular dish a bit more spicy, they will accommodate. It has been my experience that even the items they say are spicy, don't come out spicy, so I ask them to kick it up a notch and they do so without question. In my opinion, the one area where they seem to be off on are their soups. The Won-Ton is bland, the Sweet & Sour is too sour and the EggDrop is too greasy. However, they more than make up for this in their appetizers... give the CrabRagoons a whirl, we love them. For main dishes I've tried the Garlic Chicken & SzechBeef, both were really good. They are also very generous in their portions... even on the lunch menu. So, if your in the neighborhood, and in the mood for Chinese, then Szechwan Palace is a good choice.

Best Chinese food in Antioch. Huge servings. Great good. Not really a great sit down area. But if your looking for delivery or take out. This place is great.

Great food. My family has been going there for over 15 years and they have never disappointed. It's a family tradition to meet there for birthday dinners. We love it!

Szechwan Palace is a typical Chinese take out place, nothing too different or extraordinary. The prices are a little high compared to other places in the area, and the food quality isn't too drastic from the other places either. The couple times I've gone there, the staff seem to meander around, or read the newspaper, not really paying too much attention to who comes in, although food is always delivered in a timely manner. So overall, I would say that while it's not bad at all, (The food is actually pretty good.) it's not my first choice for Chinese food.

The best Chinese food I have ever eaten. Monday threw Saturday they have a lunch special for $5.95. This comes with egg drop soup (which is awesome), an egg roll (the best I've ever had, an entree, and fried rice. I highly recommend the sweet and sour chicken. Here is their website. szechwanpalace.com/index… I encourage you to try it. Every person I talk to says this is their favorite place to get Chinese food. On a side note, I left Antioch for a 4 year period for college. I tried many different Chinese places and decided this is the only place I will ever get Chinese food from again. I guess I should also mention the service is really fast. The second you take a sip of water there is someone there to fill the glass back up. The same people work all the time, so they tend to recognize who you are and what you are going to order. Ultimately, I highly recommend this place.

I don't understand why this place has such good reviews. I went here last month and it was horrible. I placed an order for pickup and it was inedible. I've never taken or sent food back before this. The orange chicken was gummy and had such an odd texture to it, I'm not even sure it was chicken. I've had orange chicken from tons of different places before and it has never tasted like that. The egg rolls were also disgusting. Everything just tasted off. They refunded me for the food, and I won't be going back.

Absolutely the worst take-out Chinese food from their Richmond location. I have never eaten at their Antioch location. The food was absolutely inedible! We ended up throwing most of it out. I will never go back there, and I cannot imagine that anyone who experienced the lack of quality would. The fried rice was awful, All of the prepared appetizers were stale or greasy. I would rarely go out of my way to leave a bad rating, but this experience deserved this.

Best Chinese food in the area! I abandoned Red Sun a while ago for this place and haven't turned back! My husband and I have yet to order a dish from here that we have not liked. Delivery is always super fast! Hoping that this restaurant will not change and I won't have to look for a new restaurant again!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
