I had the privelege of partaking in the Trout Fillet. If that entree was a woman, I would MARRY her. Not date her casually for 7 years... MARRY her. Only the finest ingredients were used (I'm guessing) to make my meal, and the service was so good it left me wanting more. So I got more... in the form of vanilla cheesecake. Seriously though, if you're looking for the best dining experience of your Idaho life, take a stroll here and thank me later.

More visits give me what I need to know I was wrong in rating at my last review, when I said 4 stars, and my first review, when I said 3 stars. Repeated visits put me at 2 stars. Service vacillates between lackluster and indifferent. Food is hit and miss. The saver is if you go right before 5pm and can get a table outside on a summer day absent searing heat or an abundance of flies, you can enjoy the setting along the river and pretty good specialty cocktails which may be enough to put up with the previously mentioned deficits. But see recent reviews from the following folks. Jennifer W. " Service was appalling...We will not be returning.. Chris C. "My conclusion is that it is a brewery with ho-hum staff a great menu that needs to be executed better!" Luis M "This place is just ok. The food was average but our waitress was grumpy." Yep. I agree.

After reading the review I though this was going to be the place! Well I was a bit disappointing! We sat down and it took almost 15 minutes before someone came to our table. We were just about to leave and then a waitress came and asked us for our drink order. The menu has many great sounding item using great meat Snake rive this and kurobuta pork that. I was expecting it to be more of a restaurant than a brewery. As I watched the staff there is nothing special to say. They just do there job and that is it. There is no sense of dress code with them and some need to wash their aprons and change their pants more often. The appearance needs a little work. There was a medical issue with one of the guest. One waitress starts running across the restaurant yelling "Call 911, Call 911" then proceeds to hurry around the restaurant asking "is there a doctor in the house" over and over! Now everyone in the restaurant is standing and looking to see what is going on! Come on lady. The guy is already embarrassed enough then you bring more attention to him! Very unprofessional IMO! Now the food. I have the pork tacos my wife the Oriental Chicken salad. My tacos were plump wit pork but the Kimchi was old and very soggy. No crispness or flavor at all. I actually removed it fro the tacos to enjoy that great pork, Yummy pork I will say! The salad was sparse in chicken and the lettuce was cut way to big and green leaf and romaine is nothing special to use in that type of salad. It was nothing like the picture either. My conclusion is that it is a brewery with ho-hum staff a great menu that needs to be executed better!

Bardenay is consistently one of the better casual dining restaurants in Idaho. A nice local chain that delivers good quality food and beverage every time you visit one of their locations. The price value is nothing short of outstanding! I often wonder how they provide such a great product at such a low cost! Been a customer for over seven years and I have always had a great experience.

Service was appalling. After the first bad experience of being largely ignored by our server throughout our experience, we decided to give it another chance. Yet again, we sat ourselves, waited 5mins for water to be served/menus, the waitress asked if we wanted anything besides waters, and then she proceeded to walk away while one of the guests in our party was in mid-response. Amazing. We left after a moment of silence and stares of amazement around our party. However, one of the gentleman in my party stated, "waitress was beddy enough to take to pound town." We will not be returning.

I didn't understand when I was been told that here's the signature restaurant for our company's gathering in my first visit. Till overtimes, those talks, jokes I had with my colleague during our dinning in this place all came back to me as memories. I realize how lucky I am to be with people I enjoyed to work with also to eat with..

Bardenay is absolutely the best place in Boise and surrounding area! The wait staff and bartenders are always pleasant and attentive! We love the food and the specials and the atmosphere is wonderful!!

Bardenay has become a regular meet up spot for myself and a group of friends every other week as it is one of the only places conveniently located between all of us. And I am thankful for that, because otherwise I don't think I would have ever had as many outings there as I have. Their food is good. They have some very rich options, but also some healthier options, and even vegetarian options for those of you that don't eat me. (not I). Everything that has been brought to me I have enjoyed immensely. But most of all, their wine. There are only a few places in the Treasure Valley that have a good, and extensive wine list. And by this, I mean for people who are looking to try to drink something other than Pacific Northwest (which most Idahoans do). For someone who knows wine, and appreciates old world offerings, this will be a great spot to find some special bottles. The staff isn't very trained on what their wine is, but they have an easy numerical system helping them find the bottle you request... so at least they aren't faking it. And I would like to think that if you had a question, there is someone there that can help them answer it. Just recently I've enjoyed a unique offering of Planeta Nero d'Avola from Sicily, as well as a Crozes Hermitage from Michele Chapoutier. Both outstanding wines that are in the $50-$70 bottle list range making them doable, but they really over deliver for their price. And they deliver more complexity than the jammy wines that most carry around these parts. The wine list alone will keep me coming back. Cheers to your Wine Manager!

We have been coming here ever since they opened. The food is consistent with the one down town. I love the salads because they have flexible protein options and light dressings. The Seared Yellowfin Tuna salad was excellent. They have an excellent selection of wines on tap or if you want to hang out, plenty of beers and full cocktail selection. The mojitos are made right!

Good food. Good drinks, lots of ambience. I noticed a slew of servers and they were all busting their butts to assure promptness, satisfaction, politeness. Bardenay is how a restaurant should be run! Try them!

I used to go to both the downtown and Eagle Bardenay at least once if not more per week until they stopped carrying Splenda. I know it sounds dumb, but I love ice tea and diabetic - Splenda is the only sweetener I like. I brought my own for a while, but got tired of it. I figured that since I spent between $100-$150 in per week (family and clients) that I did not need to pay for my own Splenda. I would also like a bottle of ketchup vs the rationed ketchup cups. I always need more and then have to wait - sometimes for a long time if they are busy. Bottom-line, Bardenay is good - but, they do not offer the little extras to put them above the competition.

They have great satays and salads. If you come here at night you should sit out side by the heat lamp. The price per person is about 17 1/2$. The service was great, they even gave us an extra side of sweet potato fries. They are very crowded at around 6:45-8:00.

First off, I think the seat yourself policy works sometimes, but when it's a gorgeous day outside and the place is packed I believe there should be somebody helping people get seated. We waited in line and had people cutting in front of us trying to get a place to sit before us. The drinks are always decent, but over the few times we've been there, the food has declined. We had a hummus appetizer which was good, but my husband had kobe beef tacos and I had fish tacos. Mine were hardly flavorful, the fish was dry and tasted off and I got one hint of cilantro in one bite...other than that, no taste. My husband said that he doubted it was actually kobe beef and there was very little taste in those tacos as well. There was quite a bit of energy in the place, but besides coming for drinks I cannot say we'll visit here often.

This place is just ok. The food was average but our waitress was grumpy. Drinks were over priced and they weren't that good I think they used a cheep him on my drink. The one in Boise is defiantly better.

Consistent food with great happy hour and nice sized menu (not too big) that has a little of everything! Definitely a "go-to" place for me and my husband! Just a little loud sometimes.

I've been here several times in the recent years, so it must be good if I keep coming back. Stopped in for dinner tonight after riding bikes around Eagle along the river. My fav dish here was the pesto Alfredo fettuccine with salmon. Was told tonight it's been axed off the board in all locations (only the pesto alfredo sauce). Lame. As we rode our bikes past here earlier (twice, in fact), I could swear I smelled fish n chips a la a certain red trailer that serves up the best fish n chips I've ever had. So, I had the fish n chips. Not quite the same. My dish came out with three small pieces of fish on a pile of fries and some slaw. I hate slaw, unless its on top of a pulled pork sandwich. The fish was very overcooked and dark brown in color. Very disappointing as it tasted good but was dry. Their chili spiked tartar sauce was epic and good for dipping the perfectly cooked fries in. My GF had a salad (can't recall which one) and said it was very good. I actually had room for dessert (since i only got 3 small pieces of fish) and we opted for the vanilla cheesecake. I won't try and break it down here. Just order it. Though my dinner may seem meh, I'm giving 4 stars from past experiences. This place is pretty popular and gets loud. The service has always been above average and they have a cool patio. It can be populated by mosquitos at times, though. I'm going to have to be more adventurous and try some different things on the menu. I'll definitely be back.

Fantastic food!!! Great wait staff, there are only 2 things I do not like about this bistro: #1 free for all seating, if you go when it is busy you are like shark circling the tables waiting for someone to get up and leave, if you have a party larger than 4 people it is impossible to get a seat during any type of rush. I have brought friends here and turned around and left because it was to busy, not that I would not have waited for a table you just can't #2 the took my favorite sandwich off the menu, I was heartbroken, Papricka Pork Sandwich Besides the seating situation this is a fantastic place to eat.

The salmon is never the same but always excellent. I've eaten it a hundred times. My personal preference is for the version that is more balsamic glaze over the gravy version. Which is what it has evolved to.

Planned to go here for Mother's Day with my family. 1st Mother's Day for us in 12 years. We made 2 phone inquiries this week to verify the hours and menus for today. Arrived at 4:00 pm to a sign that says they aren't opening until 5:00. Evidently they were so busy they had to delay an hour. That manager should be fired. That us such poor business....especially on Mother's Day. Now we are sceambling trying to find somewhere else that can handle 18 people.

This is one of my favorite places to go in the summer. Great location and great cocktails. The food is tasty and well done. They make their own liquors so those are always delicious plus happy hours and late night snack options. The food at the location in Boise is just as good but I prefer this location. Can't wait for patio day drinking weather.

I can't believe I haven't written a review yet! Hubby and I have been going to Bardenay Eagle quite often over the past two years, and we always take out-of-town guests there as well. It has consistently excellent food & service, and prices are quite reasonable. The past two Sundays we've discovered their brunch which is also a winner!

First time, Saturday, 6pm. Place is packed. Sign it is a good place right? Well service was terrible! We didn't get served until 7:20. I ordered the Portuguese Clam, they were out. So I ordered the Sashimi Salad. It was just greens and pieces of raw tuna. What I thought it was the dressing, was plain soy sauce, but had already poured over the salad. The salad size was so small I thought it was a side salad. So I left and went to Albertson's to get food because I spent $30 and was still hungry.

Loved this place! Had the smoked trout pate with the best homemade pita bread that were served warm and soft. Pickled onions, capers and slivered onions made this dish delish! For a main I had the pork tacos with kimchi. Great and just spicy enough. The pickled onions tasted great on the pork tacos also.

Fair prices, especially for quality of food and ambiance!! We enjoy eating on the patio near the pretty pond and going for a walk on the Eagle greenbelt after! Never had bad service but have never been blown away either! Our family table all noticed our waitress's top was uncomfortably low... Sooo hmmm ... But I'm sure single dudes didn't mind. Portions are just right!

Drinks were a bit watered down, group of 10 next to us said their table was given away so they went to another restaurant. The waiter was very nice though and the scenery outside was beautiful.

The Yelp reviews delivered me to BarDEnay - solid advice from the legions. The restaurant/distillery feels like a ski lodge, or something you might hit at the top the mountain. It's open air, with tall ceilings, maybe 30', and in all 4 corners you will find a flat screen television, playing whatever seems to be important at the time, on this night it was Duke versus Kansas. Everyone was friendly, and on this Tuesday night, I got the feeling that it's a post work watering hole. The lighting is kinda dark at night, which is accentuated by the tan walls, and rock and wood etchings. I was excited to try some of the house drinks. I started with the house distilled vodka in my dirty martini ($6.50). It was good, smooth, but the pour felt small, a few gulps later it was gone. To their credit, it came with hand stuffed blue olives, which for me, always distinguishes a location. With my dinner I enjoyed a sockeye IPA ($5) which never seems to disappoint in a cold 16oz glass. The actual bar is impressive; it has a glass backdrop and every form of alcohol you could ask for. I followed the advice of a review and went for the salmon fillet, which was a good size cut, and it was cooked to perfection. It came with a salad and some bread, in the end, my stomach deemed it a quality meal - 'A.' My server, Chelsea, was attentive and came with personality, I think we were flirting, but I'm not sure. Good food, good libations, good setting, good night, oh, and Kansas beat Duke, which made me smile - all around I went to bed happy.

Came here with family over the Christmas holiday just a week ago. It's a nice place and I'm sure their food is good... Unfortunately I didn't have the best experience... Why? I ordered the Korean Fusion Tacos after seeing some huge Beef Tacos at the table next to ours. What a stark difference. While the Korean version has a healthy portion of meat in each of the two tacos you receive, the tacos themselves are actually small and only adorned with the kimchi. On that note, the kimchi is the only source of flavor in these tacos aside from the flavor of the corn tortillas they are served in. Seriously. There is a paltry amount of seasoning on the pork, like none. Blah... A marinade would have been something to write home about, but this? Also to note, you get two wedges of lime and a single leaf of lettuce on the plate... no rice, no salad. I'm not sure what else one might put on a plate to accompany fusion food but I was expecting SOMEthing on the side, Jeez. And I think the price was around 10 bucks... Not worth it, in my opinion. Too be fair, I've never had this variant of taco, but have seen them on menus from Denver to Portland, heard great things about them, too. I left disappointed considering the anticipation... I had a Bardenay Greyhound with my meal and it was great. They use fresh squeezed grapefruit juice and they put a good amount of booze in it. So I left happy, in that regard. It kind of sucked because all around me my family members had ordered sandwiches and salad and they were quite sizable and came with sides. Well, except for the salad my mom ordered. They all liked their food... Damn.

Service is typically not so great but sometimes it leaves me happily surprised. The food is delicious!!! The server suggested I try the chorizo stew and it was great. Also I love getting their sandwiches sans the bun. And the cheese plate is a must for me. The candied walnuts are great and the dried fruits or apples are a nice touch. Like I said; Great food, typically so so service. Never once been greeted or asked how things were by a manager. In fact, I've never even seen one...

Came here for lunch on a beautiful sunny day and was thankful for the umbrellas in the patio! Got a club sandwich which was really tasty and a fresh-squeezed lemonade which was fizzy, which I liked. I tried their signature cocktail (ginger with rum) and it was tasty as well, though I got it more out of peer pressure from my father-in-law than the beer I was considering. Would definitely come back as it seems like it'd be great at night!

A different manager did contact us shortly after our disastrous evening. We planned a makeup tonight. I can't make it unfortunately but I did want to note that the general manager was very concerned and in contact with several of us so that's something. Again, it's a beautiful location. The food and drinks are as good as downtown. Service remains a question mark but at least someone is taking feedback into consideration.

Yikes. In sat at the bar and ordered a bottle of wine. Fruit fly frenzy. Yuck. The bartender gave me a coaster to put over the top of my glass so I wouldn't have flies swimming in my wine. Isn't this a health code? I am afraid to try my food just in case fruit flies like satay.

My daughter came in from Seattle and wanted to go (at the last minute) on a recent Saturday to a nice place to celebrate her new job. With 9 of us it was impossible to get last minute reservations at any of my tried and true favorites, so after checking reviews, I decided to go to the Eagle Bardenay. I am sure glad I did! We walked in at about 5:30 and the staff gladly moved tables together for us and we were seated immediately. Service was prompt and our waitress was so professional and fun at the same time. Drink orders came out promptly followed quickly by our appetizers and entrees. Even though the restaurant filled up quickly after our arrival, our waitress followed up with drink refills and checkups on us the entire time we were there. Food taste and quality was remarkable considering the cost was quite reasonable. Favorite choices were pork tacos with amazing homemade kimchi. Not authentic but oh so delicious! The salmon portion was huge and perfectly cooked and the seasoning was sooooo good it was a party in my mouth. Everyone else loved their choices and we enjoyed our stay. The room did get noisy as it filled up, but it was not intolerable. I wish it was possible to get reservations as by the time we left there were people waiting to get seated.

The food is really really delicious, and this is a great restaurant if you have allergies. I have a lot, but they (very pleasantly) helped me find something I could eat. I had a chicken sandwich on ciabatta with grilled onion. I couldn't have the cheese (dairy allergy) or tomato aioli (soy allergy), but the sandwich was perfect without. The chicken was so moist and juicy, I didn't miss the condiment at all. I'm SO going back next time I'm in town (or, maybe I will go over tonight, since I'm leaving tomorrow). The service was incredible too.

First off......good on you for having a special gluten free menu. I had the pork chops with fennel and they were amazing followed up by the chocolate torte which was top notch. I really enjoy the twist they put on the food here. However for a place like this, I do expect a little more out of the service. Although it was not bad service...........it was not great either.

After a hard days work what more does one want than a good meal and a nice well made drink? well look no further than Bardenay! So I was visiting Boise for work and someone mentioned a that makes their own Gin, Vodka and Rum! Do tell!! So I went for the drinks and stayed and came back again and again because of the food! Some overall items, 1. It is located RIGHT next to the Boise river... you can't ask for a better view!! 2. The outdoor seating is great and 3. they are located next to a Hilton Garden Inn so you wont see a sign off the main road but if you see the Garden Inn you are there. First drinks: There Gin is awesome! I prefer a Gin and Tonic, since you get more of the flavor of the gin, which is super smooth and tastes great! They have Gin martinis with blue cheese stuffed olives, which I heard were awesome, but I couldn't get past the Gin and Tonic... Food: The array and quality of food is great here. The black bean and sweet potato chimichanga is the best thing on the menu! It sounds crazy and nasty, but it comes with a mango salsa that makes you want to lick the plate! The turkey burger is also solid. The appetizers are also great, the clams, salmon cakes and wings are killer! I would highly recommend trying at least one of those as well as your meal! totally worth it! Service and price: The service the 4-5 times I have been here has been good. All the servers are attentive, knowledgeable about the menu and make sure your drinks are well taken care of. Also the price here is great!! Coming from Baltimore/DC the prices are cheap and the quality and quantity that you get is totally totally worth it!! I would highly recommend Bardenay's its a great place to sit, eat, drink, relax!! Been there at least once every time I visit! So enjoy and hey can I get some more Gin with my tonic... Cheers mates!

I really enjoyed my dinner at Bardenay. I ordered the huckelberry lemon drop ( OMG ) so good. with a sugar/salt rimmed martini glass it was so delicious. We ordered the cheese platter to start, and it was really nice. Four types of cheese with pears/oil/bread. I ordered the Club sandwich with sweet potato fries. Yum the sweet potato fries are my favorite. It is very airy inside with the whole side being open doors to the outside. It is perfect for a summer evening. I love both their locations and have experienced great food and service at both.

Consistency. It's what makes the good restaurants great! I've visited this location several times and nothing changes. The food is always great (I usually have the special) with a house made rum and diet and the service is predictable. Seat yourself, fast ticket times and good service. My favorite Eagle restaurant for sure :)

Nice atmosphere. Server was very attentive and knew the menu well. But we were here for drinks. My Bacardi Anejo con coca was good. The mosquitoes eating us alive at the patio deck, not good. Must be the state bird, seems over sized tonight. I must drink more to saturate my blood with rum so they don't light. Apparently it is working, or maybe we've drank too much to care.

Went on a Thursday night with my wife at ~7pm. We were not thrilled with the "seat yourself", and found it to be very very loud...much more of a bar scene than a dinner scene. We split a calamari app...excellent; probably the best food of the night, and she had a portobello mushroom sandwich, and I had the Kobe beef french dip. We expected, based on the menu descriptions, to be very impressed. Each of the items had a little twist to it (my french dip was on a Kummelweck-inspired focaccia, for example...very clever and imaginative). I had the house martini...also superb...and my wife had a huckleberry lemonade cocktail, which she enjoyed. No complaints at all about the apps and cocktails...I would return for those *for sure*. The dinner was disappointing; service was lackluster (which I can forgive if the food is great...like in your average Vietnamese restaurant) and the food was just mediocre. Specifically, my wife's sandwich was a little small, and the bread should've been toasted. Not too big a deal. My sandwich, described as... "Grilled Snake River Farms Kobe flank steak with provolone cheese and spiked creamy horseradish on Kummelweck-style caraway focaccia bread. Served with burgundy and rosemary au jus." ...had a lot of promise, but unfortunately the beef was done medium-well! I was not asked my preference, and shame on me...I assumed they'd default to medium rare for good-quality meat. The dip was good, and the bread had a couple of caraway seeds and a tiny bit of salt on it, so I suppose it was "Kummelweck-style". There was not very much beef at all. ("Bad food, and the portions were so small...") On the bright side, it was under $10, so I didn't feel ripped off, just disappointed that it didn't live up to its potential. I had fries, wife had sweet potato fires, both were good. Not great, but good. Tasted like right out of the Sysco freezer bag. Tax and tip set me back ~$55, which I thought was very reasonable for dinner, 2 cocktails, and a beer. BOTTOM-LINE: Go for cocktails and apps. If that's what you want, this should be a 4-star review vice 2-stars. I'll likely be back for cocktails and apps. Don't bother going for dinner...if you have to, either get a couple of apps or stick to burgers and fish & chips. WHAT'S GOOD: Apps and cocktails, outdoor seating and view, very reasonable prices. WHAT'S BAD: Main dish/sandwich quality. Very average...not horrible, just average...think "TGI Friday's".

Bardenay in Eagle is a great place to go for a good meal and drinks at a great price. They make a STRONG drink so be careful! Try the mojito or whiskey sour. I've heard a lot of people say they've had issues with the service during the last few months but we've never had a problem and I do believe they got quite a few new staff members so have patience my friends. Wide selection of menu items and their specials are always interesting. Gluten free-friendly, even a gluten free menu. Beautiful outdoor dining if you like on the patio right by the river, otherwise lots of seating inside.

Went here for brunch for the first time with my boyfriend this summer while visiting my family and was not disappointed. Plenty of healthy (and sinful :] ) food options, and the Ginger Rum cocktail is DELICIOUS...oh my god. And strong haha. Our server was a guy with long hair and tatted up arms- great personality, funny, and genuinely friendly. We had such a great experience that we came back later the same day with friends and drank copious amounts of mojitos. The only downside was the noise level, lots of Eagle soccer mamas getting wasted and rowdy here with their friends during Sunday brunch haha. But our group was trying to accomplish the same thing so after a couple drinks it wasn't a problem.

Great place. Distill their own rum, vodka, and gin. But you can get a drink with just about any brand of good booze. Great location and ambiance. No reservations though and can be really crowded at times. Nice patio though, but watch out for mosquitoes at times as it is next to the Boise River. Drinks are really inexpensive. Martinis for less than $6 each? Outstanding. Food is good and moderately priced. Try the fresh potato chips and french dip appetizer. We go back at least once per week.

Great place, great food, great service. Atmosphere is a little loud when it's busy. The only bad thing is I wish they had frozen beer glasses, oh well, still one of my favorite places. Best steak sandwich anywhere!

Went here two years ago with my wife and it was awesome! I was just back here with two buddies from work, and we decided to visit it again. We were not disappointed. Great food and beer, atmosphere, and service!

All of the food I've experience from Bardenay has been great quality and great taste until my visit during brunch today. I wanted something light because my stomach was upset so I ordered the "fruit bowl". NEVER again. The entire thing was a joke. First, it was on a plate not in a bowl, and it was arranged as if they threw it on there from across the kitchen, really sloppy. Upon ordering I asked if I could only have 1 type of fruit and the waitress said "No it's all mixed together". Huge mistake. ALL of the fruit... oranges, pineapple, grapes, cantaloupe tasted like honeydew. It tasted disgusting. And they way it was cut was just embarrassing, I'm a pantry chef at a country club, I cut fruit all the time and what was on my plate was child's play. ***I hate to write a paragraph just about a fruit bowl but COME ON how can you mess something so simple up?***

Bardenay is located right on the Boise River. The Hilton Garden Inn is next door. The location on Eagle Road is terrific. The food is very good at Bardenay. The prices are great - $60 for dinner for 4. Service was okay. I strongly recommend going during the lunch hour or early dinner, and here's why: It is next to Boise River, and a lot of standing water, which causes mosquitos to come out at dusk. If you must go at dusk, sit inside as far away from the outside walls as possible. Overall very good value and great build-out of the restaurant.

I've had both of the tuna salads here. The ahi and the yellow tail. I think I prefer the yellow tail. I'm almost done giving gaijin restaurants a chance at doing Asian fusion. The yellow tail was nicely seared and the dressing and mixin's kicked it up a notch. Great wine selection. A little expensive. Nice architecture. The place with packed with Eagle workers at lunchtime. The service was excellent. At least 3 people kept checking on us to make sure all was cool. Next time I am going to try the clams.

What does it mean if you get the same thing every time you go back..... Love it! Price is good, and portions big. Very nice decor, friendly service, hit with local EAGLIANS.... One of top 5 restaurants in Idaho.

My husband and I frequent here regularly. No matter how busy they are they always have timely service. Their food is out standing. I often get the salmon sandwich or the tuna salad. Both have amazing taste and big portion size. The price is really reasonable. The environment of the restaurant is great for meetings or a casual date with a friend or spouse. I wouldn't say it is romantic because It can get pretty noise when they are busy. Over all always happy and satisfied when we leave.

Bardenay is Ok. It is a nice place, good place to hang out if you are looking for consistent, ok food where the hanging out is a higher priority than the food. The food is average. Typical bar type menu. Spring and summer are nice because they have a great outdoor area. We typically go here when we do not want to think too hard. Or we are itching for their fish and chips which is really good. I am NOT a fan of come in and sit anywhere. Which is what Bardenay is. So, on a Friday or Saturday when it is peak time expect total chaos and delays in anyone noticing you sat down. Do not be in a rush or for anyone to help you if all the seats are full.

Great atmosphere, beer selection and moderately priced menu. Unique concept is a bonus. First time dining at a restaurant/distillery. Hopefully it won't be the last. If you like rum, you have to try Bardenay's. It's pretty unique (in a good way). Our party was equally split between ordering lunch and brunch. All were equally satisfied. I sampled the bacon from a brunch and have to say it's some of the best I've ever had. Service was helpful and prompt. Would definitely return to Bardenay.

Nice atmosphere but pretty loud. Server was very attentive and knew the menu well. Located right on the Boise river so would be a great location in warm weather. Ordered the filet and while tender, it had no flavor. My red wine seemed warm but I still managed to have 3 glasses :-). Right next to my hotel so I have to say the location was convenient!

Waiter wasn't informed on the specials and didn't offer to get someone to help. Kind of an idiot. Service was overall bad and chaotic. Uncomfortable seating, and seat yourself isn't attractive. Don't sit inside - too loud. All that being said, food was excellent and a great value.

Phenomenal food, great local beer (Outlaw IPA is my favorite) and the great personality and warmth of Boise I've already seen in my two days here are enough for the 5 stars. But...this place also distills their own vodka, rum and gin. While I can't drink gin, I have never had a smoother vodka in my life! And the Ginger rum cocktail is pretty good. Come here and try it, I'm a huge fan!!

To start off, our server was completely apathetic. We were attempting to order a cheese board. The menu said to "ask server for selections", and so we did. He happened to know nothing about the cheese selections, which wasn't a big deal. So we asked if they could just whip up a mix of anything soft, gooey and white, and he just shrugged and muttered something along the lines of "Yeah, I don't know" while walking away. Upon returning, he listed a couple of cheeses saying they didn't have much and asked if we just wanted to order it "how it comes". I guess they need to update their menu on that one. There were five cheeses on the plate, and all but the brie were refrigerator temperature. The brie tasted soapy (no kidding, like liquid hand soap. I've gotten that taste off of soft cheeses before, but never THIS bad), and they put the goat cheese /on top/ of it. Apart from those two, there was one other soft cheese that should have been room temp., the red dragon mustard cheese that's sold at the co-op here in Boise (not the kind of cheese you want to start off with), and a marbled cheddar that looked and tasted like it came from Win-Co. The plate also came with sliced apples, toasted honey walnuts and large slices of baguette- no real problems there. After feeling largely ripped off by now we finished our lackluster wine, asked for our check and headed off to The Grape Escape. There we got an excellent cheese platter with crostini for the same price, good food, great wine and excellent service. I was going to give them two stars originally, but thinking of it now there is probably no reason to come here if they can't even manage to pull off a simple cheese platter competently. Sorry, but a river-view doesn't at all make up for lousy food and service.

Love the food, one of the best appetizer menus in Boise. Great selection of beer and a great atmosphere. The only negative is that service is always a crapshoot, 50% of the time its good the other half is apathetic or just palin bad.

A close friend who truly knows fine food from gastro pub to haute cuisine and now lives in the North End of Boise recommended Bardenay, and my partner had been to their Boise location with her and enjoyed it so we went so I could try their burger and share my findings on Yelp. It's a great looking place, masculine, sophisticated and very comfortable. They've got a gargantuan patio that sits along the rivers edge and makes mighty fine al fresca dining when weather permits. It's casual enough that customers pick and choose where they want to eat and it worked fine on weekday at 2:00 PM so we found an empty 4 top mostly in the sun although it was fast eclipsing as the sun went over the roof top. We had a great server who was super attentive when we wanted or needed him, and invisible when we didn't. It's an interesting menu that is heavy Mediterranean with plenty of room for casual Californian. The appetizers just didn't sound appealing so we went straight to my burger and my guests Salmon ka bob which loved and was quite generous. I ordered their burger with Swiss cheese and fries but could have got sweet potato fries, a small dinner salad or a small Caesar. I asked that it be cooked medium and that's exactly what I got. The burger came on a standard white china plate with a mound of piping hot house cut fries, and after making a dent in the fries I found three small slices of sweet pickle and about half a slice of red onion. I lifted off the top half of the bun and although it was perfect for the meat, dairy, produce and condiments it contained, it would have soared if it was toasted or briefly grilled. The Swiss cheese was generous and perfectly melted and the meat was cooked nicely. I asked for Mayonnaise and a ramekin of room temperature, creamy and bland sauce appeared and it was mediocre at best. There seemed to be no sauce or produce on the burger so I assumed they didn't offer either, until I reduced the pile of fries and discovered the above mentioned pickle slices and meagre slice of onion. all in all it was a quite good cheeseburger, not one I could rave about, but well conceived and executed with high quality makings and fixings. I recommend Bardenay and hope they notch it up a bit.

We were in/Eagle visiting my wifes family and they suggested we go to Bardenay for dessert and drinks. We get there and sit near the bar area. The whole purpose of our visit was to try the carrot cake which we heard was the best around. When we get around to ordering we find out there is no carrot cake because their distributor did not deliver any that morning. Of course I was disappointed but oh well, I end up ordering the pineapple upside down cake. My wife and her family that was with us decide to order a bottle of the Moscato D'Asti to share. The pineapple cake comes and it is dry and disgusting. My wifes uncle orders the chocolate cake which comes out looking like a Ding Dong except with out the aluminum foil. When the wine comes, instead of one big bottle, we get two small bottles. Why, because we are told they are out of the regular sized bottles. We were specifically told by our waitress that we would only be charged for the one regular bottle size since it was their fault they were out and had to give us two smaller bottles. Of course when the bill comes we are charged for the two smaller bottles which is significantly more than the one regular bottle that we ordered. We remind our waitress what she told us and she goes back to talk to the bartender. Ends up since we got 4 glasses instead of 3, we get charged for both bottles. Does this make sense? The waitress doesn't seem willing to adjust our bill even though she assured us originally that we would only be charged for the regular bottle that we ordered. Instead or arguing we just pay he bill and leave, wasn't worth it. Needless to say we won't be going back next time we are in the area.

This restaurant just happens to be in one of my favorite places to walk - along the greenbelt, beside the Boise River, in Eagle, Idaho. My favorite dish at Bardenay is the salmon (to die for). The black bean/mango chimichangas are also good. My teenaged son likes the fettucine alfredo with garlic bread and the caesar salad. The inside is lively and large, the outside, deck area is very pretty, next to a pond and the greenbelt, with cool lighting at night. We've taken friends and our college-age kids and their friends to Bardenay many times, for good food at a reasonable price.

Awesome space, sitting right on the Boise River, close to downtown Eagle. If it were warmer, we'd have definitely sat on the patio sipping drinks and ogling the river. Modern menu, in-house beer brewing, and a sort of industrial feel inside. It reminds me of The Yardhouse chain from the western states, which probably explains my lapse in judgement. I must've forgotten that I was in a landlocked state and I ordered some Ahi tuna. It arrived brown in color, clearly exposed to way too much air, and slimy in texture. Not appetizing, but I still tried a piece. It definitely wasn't edible, and if our server had ever checked on us, I would've sent it back and asked for something else. At the end of the meal, she came back and noticed that the Ahi was basically untouched and asked me if there was a problem. I told her it just wasn't fresh enough to eat, so I was surprised when she shrugged and still charged me for it. Maybe she was just lazy, as I'm hoping that Bardenay stands behind their food more than she did. I also had a cup of soup that was pretty good, not amazing, but good. My friend had a salad that she ooh'd and aah'd over, but she's pretty amazed by salads in general. I'd only come back if it were just for drinks and a view of the river. It reminds me of the restaurants on the beach, up and down the California coast that get by serving mediocre food because people will pay top dollar to see some water swish by.

This is a very busy place anytime--lunch or dinner! The food is very good, the service as well. My only complaint is that it's very noisy and sometimes hard to have a conversation. However I was here recently with my brother and had a delicious meal at lunch time. We were able to talk without screaming at each other. I had the burger special with sweet potato fries and it was such a huge amount I ended up taking half of it home. We were eating the fries for a few days and they were yummy! Burger was great also! I like the salads here as well. When the weather is nice the patio area is a good place to sit and enjoy a meal.

You simply cant get a better place for beer selections. I'm sitting here having a cask style Mirror Pond Pale Ale and it's fantastic. Sure other places may have more beer choices but having a cask style brew is truly unique in my opinion. Haven't tried the food yet but I do make a point to visit this place when I'm in Boise. Also their distilled spirits are great. It's hard to beat the outside seating on a summer day.

Love Bardenay. We especially love to sit out on the patio by the river during the warm months! Several great salads and sandwiches...portabello mushroom and chorizo sandwiches are my fave. Great sides like the blue cheese coleslaw(so good) or I've had several tasty soups of the day. Also love to go for happy hour(early evening or late) for cheap apps like satays, fries, and hummus

Bartender, is consistently unable to ever get my beer glass full on any of his pours (makes me crazy that he can't fill the glass). Good on tap Beer selection. Food is good. The Service is good - the wait staff is excellent. I like Bardenay and will continue to go there for dinner and drinks.
