It smells so good...but it's so bad, so bad!

Awww.. the only few places that still have the playground. Yes every-time I see this place it makes me want to just jump into the pool of balls with all the other little kids, but I know there is an age limit! Just wished I could do that again, someday... But besides the incredible playground for the kids this is the best McDonald's Restaurant on Oahu. I say that because it is the cleanest I've seen a chain of McDonald's Restaurant and the service is outstanding. The layout of the place is so spacious and although it gets busy, it doesn't feel so claustrophobic. There is no weird smell that lingers and the soda fountain is clean and free of any spilled soda residue. If you have little kids to watch and can't seem to wear them out of energy, I always bring my niece and nephews here. I bring them outside to eat there happy meals on the tables and let them watch all the other kids playing. I bribe them to eat all there food before they can even put on there socks. Yes SOCKS, you need them to play in the jungle maze. If you don't have any with you, they sell socks. There is usually an attendant at the shoe storage selling socks and keeping an eye out on the kids.

Typical McDonalds. You'll have the elderly enjoying the music and coffee in the morning. The kids go in afterschool and make a lot of noise. And even the homeless people come in and ask for watercups and just chill inside w/ the AC.

Why is there a limited time period for breakfast menu and others. We were told that lunch menu is only served after 1030a. WHY? All yr competitors provide all menu items ALL DAY. Inconvenience and behind the times. Also food quality is better at others anyway.

  • Rona L.

I come here often because of its convenient location but the service here is dismal. First of all it seems like ALL the employees are ESL...don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with that except That I Have no idea what in the world they are saying to me... And they ALWAYS seem to be having a crisis in the store that is clearly more important than the drive through... I must say that they have beautiful landscaping and I really appreciate that view while I wait in the line for my morning water with some oatmeal...My tip: ALWAYS ask for light water in your oatmeal!!

  • Grace M.

I come here often because my son loves to eat at McDonald's. I mean what kid doesn't right? And the playground is a plus since playgrounds at fast food places are dying just like drive-inn movie theaters! Which I loved both as a kid! I love the fact that the place is pretty clean even thou they don't clean the tables right away. The downsides? I lost count on how many times they got my order wrong, forgot to give me countless and more than on order, and often I seen the employees getting ready in the bathroom and treating it as their own personal bathroom like it's their own bathroom. One lady employee would be cleaning the lady's bathroom. And more than once when I am in there, she'll start spraying her perfume all over the bathroom and it always smells horrible. I always end up gagging and it feels like the perfume is my mouth. It isn't pleasant. The managers are usually the most helpful there thou.

I don't understand why this location is SO BUSY! It always takes forever no matter where you go. Double drive through pakced, walk up ordering packed. Loud, hard to find a seat, crowded. BOOOOO! Sometimes I think I'll save time because I'm in Waipahu and need to pick up some filet o fishes for my dad, but to be honest I could drive to Waikele or Kapolei and make up for the drive time with faster service. I guess I don't learn my lesson because I still end up coming here thinking "Maybe this time will be different".

Moving back to Hawaii I told myself I would indulge in all the local foods I grew up on and stay away from chains I know I can eat in the mainland. But let's face it sometimes we are in a crunch for time and these fast food places are really quick fixes. When I didn't prep my morning oatmeal the night before I usually try to grab breakfast somewhere. When I'm pressed for time I come this location since it's not too far from home and allows me to easily get on H1 or go straight to Kunia. The restaurant is clean, modernized, one of the few with a playground still intact. It can get busy at times but the staff keeps it flowing and somehow finds a way to keep it clean. Plus this particular location and I have a long history but that's another story. Like I mentioned I usually go for breakfast if anything. McDonalds Coffee is actually pretty good. I go for iced coffee with hazelnut. It comes out just right and not overly sweet. The McCafe line is pretty legit and is my choice of coffee if I don't have the time to relax in a coffee shop.

I enjoy this one because it has a playground. Abira likes to go there :) Aside from that, this is a relatively busy but slow moving McDonald's. I waited 5 minutes for a soda...and at that point, other people who ordered AFTER me got their food AND DRINK before I did.

So overall this McDonald is pretty decent food came in a timely manner lobby looked clean and the workers seemed okay to me. I just think that if there's another costumer in line that they should have another cashier open up because I was waiting to be helped not like it's a big deal, but having 5 employees stand around staring at you while a "trainee" is helping another guest and not bothering to help them but all just stare or have conversations while another worker is busy is just rude.

Lobby was dirty and bathroom needed immediately cleaning during 3 pm and the lobby person spray me with a cleaner never coming back to dine in here again

I'm waiting for my car to get fixed...this was the only decent place to get coffee... normally I don't eat at McDonald's. So my star rating is only based on the customer service & environment. It was full of all the local senior citizens, hanging out & having happy conversations & enjoying their b'fast. Everyone's joyful attitude rubbed off on me. It was just a great, comfortable place to enjoy coffee & lounge while waiting for car to be serviced. I have a 7yr step son who luvs McDonald toys. I picked him 3 of the Ninja Turtle toys & one Sweetheart push toy. The employee went out of her way to double check in the back for the plush toy I wanted. THANKS!

We are usually in line here before they open. Service is quick and friendly for being so early in the morning.

It's got a two-lane drive thru and the service is always very friendly.

Had the McRib sandwich. I didn't like it, because the patty seemed to be processed meat, instead of real meat from ribs.

This McDonald's always jacks up my order. It never fails. Be sure to check your order whether dining in or going thru the drive thru.

I go here all the time. Today they got my order wrong. I ordered a grilled sweet chili chicken McWrap. They ended up giving me a double filet o fish. I went back to the drive through to get my order and what they gave me was a freaking soggy sweet chili McWrap that has been sitting. The wrap was so soggy that it was falling apart and spilling out everywhere. I wanted to go back so they can give me a freshly made one but I didn't want them to waste any more of my time. By the time I got to the last couple bites it was so soggy I couldn't finish it; I had to spit it out because it was so gross. By the time my daughter was able to eat, she was so hungry that she gobbled her meal so fast. Thanks for wasting 40 minutes of a mother's life.

The drive-thru here, is always busy. So we normally park and run in for a drink. I don't normally come here, but since they've finally have added on $1.00 any size drinks to their menu, I find myself coming here a little more. Service inside can be a little slow at times. I do admire the older employee's who work quite hard in keeping the establishment clean and welcoming. Particularly, when I see them having to empty those trash cans. You would think they would make the younger staff do it? Nope, I usually observe our kupuna doing it. I hope they get paid more for doing so? The food is okay. What I really enjoy, are the ice cream cones. What disappoints me, is they are so stingy with the ice crem. On their advertisements it looks so good, but what they serve you never matches the marketing pictures. False advertising, at it's best.....It doesn't just happen at this location, it happens at most locations. I guess, the next time I get a cone, I'll post a picture and you can all see what I mean. So stay tuned...... So as long as this McDonald's adveritises a $1.00 any size drink, I'm in. If not, "bye-bye." I gave one extra star, for our hard working kupuna who take pride in what they do!

  • Bryson P.

I've come here around 100 times in the past few months and most of the time it was was packed. The service is slow and even for a McDonald the quality isn't very good. Every time I order an ice cream from this McDonalds it's REALLY small! Worst McDonalds for ice cream for sure!

  • Cy K.

I gotta say that this McDonald's always gets my orders right! -- I LOVE onions. Being that I've worked at a McDonald's before, I know that there are 3 different types that they use. Dehydrated, slivered, and red onion. I'm very picky when it comes to my onions and I will make a big fuss if my order is wrong. I don't really care for the dehydrated onions so I always ask to either replace it with the others, Or if it doesn't come with onions I ask them to add it on. They've been pretty good at it so far! (crosses fingers) The drive thru line don't get too long, but sometimes it just moves really slow. The workers here are always friendly. They often tend to forget some condiments such as ketchup, napkins, straws. But no biggie. Luckily we have extras at home! :) This location has a playground. Not many others have them. It's a nice little gated and secured area for the little one to run and play. Good to let them burn all their energy while you enjoy your meal! (:

I'm not a fan of fast food, but Sat. I dragged my kid on errands through town. During a meltdown of nightmarish proportions (hers...not mine) I had to promise playground when we were done. I ordered. Then, trying to get back my usual goofy composure after a stressful afternoon, I asked if I could change my diet coke order to a jack and coke. (and I NEVER drink!!!) The female counter person did not know what that was. So I asked the male employee next to her, and he didn't know what it was either, but they both had HUGE happy faces anyway. My kid did not want to eat, just fixated on that playground, and I knew I was not going to be able get her out. I asked the playground attendant what time it closed, hoping she would say "sundown." Nope...9!! Dammit!! My kid would be there 24 hours if anyone would allow it. Now how am I gonna get this kid to leave? "Few more minutes" wouldn't help, and neither did signing "one more, all done." Kid deliberately stayed on the top of the habitrail, knowing that if she came down the tube, we would leave. The nice playground attendant, who looked to me like she was LESS than 100 lbs., offered to get my kid down. Like one of the kids, she effortlessly and confidently went up the multiple platforms (I guess you need to be A) young, B) LESS than 100 lbs., and C) not afraid of heights) like some kind of olympic gymnast, disappeared into the habitrail and eventually emerged from the tube with my kid. This above and beyond service earned this 5-star rating. Yeah, there were the smiley counter people, but this awesome employee tending to the playground on the evening of sat. 8/3 REALLY helped me out.
