You know there's a school field trip when all the parents and teachers are here buying lunch and frozen cans of juice early in the morning. The salmon is so good and sells out pretty quickly. They do refill the sold out food but it takes time so you're best off coming early. The gobo, butterfish, fried chicken, and tempura are our favorites. The woman at the counter is not very talkative but I guess when you have a reputation built on delicious food you don't necessarily have to be friendly with customers. If you're looking for a hole in the wall okazuya, this is one of the best!

The tempura was the worst I've ever had. I tried the vegetable, kabocha (pumpkin) and sweet potato. All of them were hard, stale tasting and hard to chew. Not sure why, because I did buy it around 11 am. There was no seasoning and the tempura was bland and tasteless. The kobumaki was a generous size with all the traditional kobumaki filling. But the kombu/konbu itself was not soaked long enough was crunchy and hard. All in all, it was disappointing. yelp.com/biz_photos/chi-… It was a bad first impression. Scratch this one off my list.

The fried chicken is good but not the best on the island. The corned beef hash is similarly very good but not quite the best around, in taste or texture. I thought the shrimp tempura was really good so maybe it depends on when it comes out and when you order it. Pricing is the standout here. Prices are around 20% less than the other Kaneohe okazuya at the other end of town.

Love the salmon and miso eggplant. Don't care much for the nishime. Bought a plate with 6 items , one with 4 items, and 2 drinks, spent $23.00... Convenient that it's around the corner from my home though. Especially for last minute home lunch for the kids.

Delicious. Idk what people are talking about with the tempura. Smaller portions and for 2 people we easily spend $25+ they close around lunch and sell out if you come too late. The lady can seem rude so that's why 4 star. But food is good okazuya and that's what I'm paying for.

The tempura and musubis are the worse I've tasted. I can make better. Food is always cold. They should have it under a heater of some sort. The fish dishes, such as the salmon and butterfish is given out in such tweeny weeny tiny portions...not worth the arm and a leg they charge for it. My biggest discrepancy has got to be the service. The owner, the Mrs. of this okazuya is terrible!! Everytime I have gone there she has NO personality, a snobby little bitch that seems to rush everyone, never smiles and is always UPTIGHT. I went there recently and I was the next in line, a family of three walked in a few minutes after I did as I was waiting to be serviced, she completely ignored me, and started taking this family's order, a man and lady in their late 50's and their 20 yr old son. They ordered a gazillion things and all I wanted was a bowl of miso soup for my sick child. A huge part of a business is not just the product but mainly the SERVICE---in which she has none. I don't recommend this place at all. I'd rather go to Maruki Tei in Windward Mall or Megumi's Restaurant---hands down BETTER!!!

My go to for quick lunch take out, especially for fieldtrips. Owner is not so friendly. The salmon was ok, do not get the tempura unless you plan to eat it right away. Doesnt taste good if been sitting for a while. They have frozen drinks available but you need to ask for it (good for when going on field trips, drink stays cold). Be sure to have cash because they do not accept credit cards.

This place is alright. Pretty over priced for what it is. They are kinda tight with serving size as well. The lady up front could use a personality overhaul. Not sure if she's the owner but if so she should really think of fixing her attitude or else she's not gonna do very well. It's hard for me to give a place my business if they're rude & grouchy like that. I'm sure 90% of people feel the same way. Lol Other than that they have typical okazuya type stuff. Fried chicken, musubis, tempura etc. They do tend to stretch things like their hash which is 98% box mash potato and they are cash only and close around noon but run out of certain things earlier than that.

This is my go to spot on a Saturday morning. If you plan to eat the tempura items you need to go early so it's fresh. I usually go around 6:30-7:00am.

I love this little hole in the wall. Its only open til early afternoon so you need to go early but they have great food. i love their nori wonton saimin! Saimin noodles made of nori...and its green too! haha very delicious. My family and I also like to come here before going to the beach to pick up some snacks. We usually get onigiri, gobo root, spam musubi, yakisoba, fried rice, fried chicken w/teriyaki sauce and others. Last time I was here we got the miso salmon which was AMAZINGGG!!!!!! It tasted SOOO good. Best miso salmon ever! I'll be back :)
