    The food was actually not bad. But the service was really bad. We arrived at 11:30, right before lunch and there was only 8 people in the resturant. Bad sign. Still, our drinks took a real time to come out. Oh, and that's after waiting for 5 minutes for a waiter to get to our table. I hope that the owner reads these posts and gets his waiters straightened out otherwise he'll keep on losing business. I know I ain't coming back.

    Standard food... Service was poor (server did say he was sorry several times but each time he was interrupting a personal call i was on about my parents death). Should have checked the restroom before I sat down... Place was not clean.

    Ugh! Where do I even begin. I walked in there with a couple of my friends and it was about 9:00 at night. We waited at the door for about 20 min. We got a little impatient because nobody was assisting us or even giving us the time of day. So we sat ourselves. We then waited at the table for about 10 min. I got upset so I went to one of the waiters I saw and asked him for a couple glasses of water. He looked sweaty and I could tell he was frustrated. He then yelled at me and told me that he was doing the best he can and if I wasn't going to be patient, I need to leave and get out of the restaurant!! He was an older looking guy. Can't remember exactly how he looked because I was so DISGUSTED with the way he talked to me! He should be fired immediately!!! Ugh so gross.

    I read the reviews before coming here, and they are all true: this is THE worst Denny's ever! First of all, the restaurant was out of white rice. Now how the heck can you be out of white rice for dinner in Hawaii?! Then the food takes forever. It took nearly half an hour for a tossed green salad to be brought to our table. Does it really take that long to put raw lettuce and tomato in a bowl?! The person who ordered the salad said the lettuce was probably still being grown. LOL To top it off, we didn't get not one, but THREE of the items we ordered, including toast, French fries, and a strawberry banana smoothie. We didn't even bother reminding the waitress because we were almost done with the rest of our meals. Yup, of course I didn't tip.

    The worst place on maui.... I pulled up at 5am and the sever was outside and told me its gonna be a 30 to 60 minute wait because the owner said they need to take there breaks..... whit out saying anything I got back in my car and left. No standard of customer service what so ever.

    If there were 0 stars for this denny's location I would have given that. Its the "WORST" denny's I ever went to. First, when we arrived the restaurant was all empty which I never experienced especially with any denny's location, then I ordered coffee, so the problems start... At first coffee came in dirty mugs, I asked the waitress to replace that, after 5 mins she comes with another coffee which to my surprise is again in dirty mug, so here I'm looking for her to give me creamer and also waiting for her to ask for replacement of this mug. After 10 mins she comes with our order and I tell her that coffee mug is dirty, to that without apologizing she says all our mugs are like that, so I got pissed off and told her to give me plain water. Me and my wife are both vegetarians, my wife ordered "Loaded Veggie Omelet" and to our surprise it's coming with bacon strips, she said that it pops in our system that bacon strips go with that. It's heights, we are from California and going to denny's is regular breakfast regime for us, we never ever got bacon strips with this dish but she was so adamant that it always comes with bacon strips. Since these guys were not even apologizing for their mistakes, we both left without taking any sip or bite of any food or drink. Will definitely recommend to stay away from this denny's location. Also, the staff is horrible they just keep avoiding eye contact. Hope, denny's as a chain looks to these reviews coz locations like these are spoiling their reputation and goodwill.

    Loco moco is 5 scoops rice and one tiny hamburger patty. The molten lava cake with hot chocolate in the middle DID NOT HAVE ANY CHOCOLATE and we were still required to pay for a dry cake that we didn't order since we ordered it filled with hot chocolate! They are not good for groups of people because they are unable to split a bill down the middle. Took 5 minutes since they have to figure out who ate what and make separate tickets. Definitely the first and last time we will be eating here!

    Since my last review, we've been here several times, and each time, we were greatly disappointed. THE SERVICE HERE SUCKS!!! SUCKS BAD!!! At least they're consistent with their crappy service! Have to give them props on that! The food is still average Denny's fare, which would be 3 stars, but because of the consistently bad, crappy, slow, terrible service, we will definitely not go back to this location! Even when there is only one or two other small tables to be serviced, it seems the servers go out of their way to ignore the customers. From trying not to make eye contact to walking through the service aisle instead of the dining room, the servers here definitely do not earn or deserve a gratuity. DO NOT FEEL OBLIGATED TO LEAVE A TIP, since they obviously don't feel obligated to provide basic services! This place needs a complete overhaul of their servers, as even the ones I praised before stopped giving a shit about the customers. I really feel bad for the cooks, who consistently deliver the food on time, but it's when you see your food sitting in the window between 5 to 10 minutes, at least, and see your server talking story with the other servers or prepping so they can leave on time, makes you wonder where their priorities lie. Seems to me they're more worried about their hourly wage than their tips. So, again, DO NOT FEEL OBLIGATED TO LEAVE A TIP, especially for the consistently shitty service! If I could tip out the cooks, I'd feel better about leaving this disaster of a restaurant, since I would definitely stiff the wait staff! Kind of sad, since they make a mean fried rice loco moco, but when you see your meal sitting under the heat lamp for what seems like days and you are starving and have licked your water glass dry, or have not even received your water even after ordering, THAT SUCKS!!! So, as with all the other 1 star reviews, trust me on this...DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR YOUR TIME! Unless you're into receiving the absolute worse service in the world, this place is THE worst place to dine. And that's saying a lot!     Our family (kids 12 and 7) ate in all the surrounding restaurants while on holiday and this is our favorite! Great service, big portions and the right price. Everyone is helpful and Renee a fantastic server. We found out most reviews are old before the new management. See you soon!

    Like many other Denny's, rather understaffed for how busy it was at breakfast. Though overworked, our waitress was friendly and kept my coffee cup filled. Food is typical Denny's. We ordered breakfast, which is Denny's strong point. The Mrs. Tried the red-white-blue pancake breakfast special. These specials always give an awful lot of food - would have been a couple of dollars more if they had been on the regular menu. Blueberry pancakes with whipped cream and strawberry on top were good and not as sweet as similar offerings at IHOP. Eggs were cooked as ordered and hash browns and bacon were nicely browned. I ordered french toast, which was done just right - definitely had the egg batter but not so much that the bread became soggy. As a bonus, coupon in tourist publication (this location only) gave us 1/2 off one breakfast.

    Stopped here for breakfast before flying out back to the mainland and we enjoyed it. Our server Marie was very friendly and efficient, before I could as for a refill on my coffee she was there to refill my cup. She had a great attitude despite it being g busy on Thanksgiving Day and fairly busy. The MOD, Jake, was great. He walked the the floor talking and joking with all the customers. The Dennys around where I live, you have to ask for refills and what not. So this was a nice change. The food was good and after spending a small fortune on food during our vacation, it was a good relief on the budget for a meal for 4. Mahalo

    We came in for dinner on a Sunday night. They run out of utensils, so we got plastic ones. I ordered a healthy burger that goes with vegetables, they run out of carrots and celery too! My husband's omelette was Ok, the hash browns that went with it was cold. Overall, it was not a pleasant experience! Couldn't wait to get out of there! Prior to this, we went there for breakfast but we walked out because we were sitting there for about 10 minutes, but no one has approached us and we were in a hurry.

    Just wasted 40 minutes and not even a greeting. Waited about 15 minutes in line to be seated, while a lady seemed to be training the cashier. No greeting or acknowledgement. Finally seated and wait another ten minutes with no water or hello from anyone. The cashier comes over takes our order and disappears for the next 25 minutes. No silverware, drinks or anything from anyone. This place was not busy and appeared we'll staffed. We walked out and went to IHOP. We thought we'd give them a try, but will stick with IHOP where they know what a greeting is.

    I am sitting at this Denny's right now while writing this review. After a long flight, we thought it would be good to eat something before driving to our final destination. I am already regretting it and based on other reviewers I should have expected it. The waiter is polite but service is really poor. He brought the coffee I ordered but did not bring any cream for 20 mins when my wife asked him by calling out. Still no sign of food yet!

    Worst customer service on this island! Waited 25 mins just for water but never got it, in fact we never saw our waitress/waiter. We walked out! I spoke to the manager who was apologetic and even offered to be our waitress but it was too late, my family was already getting into the car! The franchise owner called me within an hour after I emailed him so that was a plus. We went across the street to Marcos, arrived there at 10:50am and left at 11:30..we were greeted right away, got our drinks within 3 minutes of us being seated, ordered our food, ate and our bill was under $40..now thats customer service!

    Went here at 6am. Only two other customers there at a table. A guy and a girl who have been partying all night. Loud as hell! Girl had a hyena laugh. So what does our idiot of a host do, sit us right next to them. And the service was awfully slow! Not even taking into consideration IT WAS JUST US in the restaurant. Never going back again.

    DEFINITELY NOT AGAIN: BEFORE: We went for a typical Sunday breakfast. When we walked in we were motioned to follow this waitress to our table. She didn't see the third person in our party so she seated us for two. When we asked for a booth, her body language and tone in her voice was one of disgust and stated that we need to go back and sit down in the front until one was available- not a problem. About 10 minutes later we were seated in a booth and instead of apologizing in advance for the heated restaurant, the hostess simply said, "oh yeah- our A/C is broken- that's why we wanted to sit you at a table in the front". We then waited another 15 minutes for our waitress to acknowledge us and take our order. My husband ordered milk and our server said they were out, yet a another gentleman was served a tall glass shortly after we completed our order. How are you out of milk? Who does your ordering? DURING: Our food was served 25 minutes after we placed our order despite the fact the restaurant had a total of 8 tables all except for 1 had their food. The temperature was "warm" and not hot, the eggs were overcooked even to the point where they were covered with "brown spots" aka burn spots. My daughter's order needed to get sent back twice because they did include 2 items on the build your own pancakes and even stated they ran out of hot fudge. Once again, who does your ordering? AFTER: When cashing out, the hostess proceeded to answer the phone while grossly mispronouncing KA-HU-LUI Denny's not KA-WA-LUE Denny's. She didn't ask how experience was or even thank us for waiting while she took the call. She just took our money. Server was very gracious given the circumstances but not the best Denny's experience AT ALL. I will never come back to this Denny's again.

    If I could id give no stars. We had 6 ppl and only 2 other tables. Started out fine but then the food came one by one for 4 ppl. Then it stopped leaving 2 ppl without. Soup was cold. Fries were overdone and old and cold. Then our 2 leftover ppls food sat on the warmer for 10 mind min when I noticed them and we waited for our waitress to give it to us as she was on the phone. The other waitress saw and walked away. We asked her to serve us the did and we were trying to eat and get in our flight. She was looking awkward and waited by the food to ask our server if it was our food bc u know there were so many ppl in there. She finally brings the food over. My eggs over my hammy are child. Like out of the fridge child and is my favorite sandwhich. My husband's pancakes were thick in the gross way and crusty on the outside and mushy in the inside. Overall id rather spend 8 bucks in the airport burgerking than this.

    Worst place ever!!!! Two people in the whole place took ten minutes to sit. Nasty, dirty and looks like they never clean the place trash under, around and on my table. Dead roaches in the bathroom and wait there is more looked at the kitchen when the door open and nastiness on the ground. I had to leave because I was grossed out!!!!!!!!!!!

    I would give this Denny's a BIG FAT 0 but I don't have that option. This is the worst Denny's ever. We order some of the popular items on the menu but the waitress kept saying "oh we're out of that and that and that". Like really they should shut down the place if your out of food. One couple was sitting across of us waited a very long time for their food. The wife end up leaving. Then the manager was complaining that she left without paying for her food. They even try to call the cops on the husband. Umm excuse me her food never even arrived yet at her table. Don't you think that there is a reason why she left. Because your service suck! I would never ever recommend anyone to go here.

    We stopped here after landing in Maui, hoping to find a decent place that was familiar because we were tired (and one of our group was not feeling well). Wished we had searched harder for something different. Coming into the restaurant, it is a typical Denny's. A bit run-down, the same kind of service people (how does that happen world-wide?), and the typical menu items. I will say we were disappointed that we could not use The Hobbit menu - for some reason they didn't have it available, despite the advertising of it all over the restaurant. It wasn't a good start. The waitress seemed quite clueless, and proved it throughout the meal. She didn't know the menu well, didn't seem all there when taking our order, and did not come back to our table often enough to re-fill coffee, etc. The food was a bit below average, even for a Denny's. It was slow coming out, and one of the meals was lukewarm as well. Listen, you're on vacation (most likely) right? Find a local spot (like Da Kitchen Cafe nearby), and you'll be much happier. Sometimes the 'safe choice' is not the best choice!

    This Denny's is pretty terrible. We stopped here on our way to the airport and I would definitely recommend you stop elsewhere! The waits to be seated and to get the food were long even though the restaurant was relatively empty. They were out of many items on the menu and the food came nothing like the decription or pictures. The salad for instance came with regular tomatoes instead of grape tomatoes, they were out of the breaded chicken, and the dinner roll on the side was actually a piece of garlic bread. The grilled chicken tasted unusual as well. What's worse though was the hair in my lettuce. On the positive side, our waitress was nice.

    Empty parking lot, empty restaurant. Now I know why. We had planned to go to IHOP initially, but after seeing that line, we decided to go to Denny's instead. On a Sunday morning, I noticed only three waitstaff for the entire restaurant. Food took nearly 20 minutes to the table and no one to refill ur coffee either. I'd rather spend my money elsewhere.

    HORRIBLE service. My very first time walking out of a restaurant in my 38 years. Waited a good 15 minutes for order to even be taken, (longer just to get water), then after an hour and ten minutes, couldn't wait any longer for food (they said it would be another ten minutes, and the place was about a quarter full. The other people we were meeting there said it was a good thing we never got our food because it was horrible and expensive. My niece took one bite of her nachos - they were "disgusting". I'm sorry this gives Denny's a bad name - we just went to one north of Seattle that had great food and service!

    Dennys and their average American food. Don't expect much even though they keep rolling out new specials. They had a cheesy menu (no pun intended) and had cheese on everything. It was aweful and the smoked chedder sausage was the size of he cheapest hot dogs you find in your supermarket. I also ordered a side of Mac & Cheese. It was made with a creamy white cheese and shells. It came to me room tempture to cold in the middle. The cheese was runny like water and it had a taste of water, as if it was not properly drained after being boiled. I simply can't find myself return to this dennys until they get their act together. Also noted their waffle maker was down for the second time I came here in a span of a few months in between. Come on Dennys, you should be a little better.

    I am giving one star because the lights are on, the room is pleasant (overlooking an auto dealership) and it has air conditioning. BUT, we dropped by at 2:30 in the afternoon. There were eight customers and six staff present. We had to find our own menus (glossy with vivid pictures) and seats. A waiter drifted by after a time and asked what we wanted. We asked for help deconstructing the menu. I asked about their version of a tuna melt or grilled cheese sandwich. "We don't have that - no tuna." "How about a vegeburger?" He browsed the menu also. "Well, you can get any burger listed and ask for vege instead of meat." "Okay, I'll have a cheeseburger but with vege instead of meat and a glass of non-fat milk." "No. We have sodas and juices or coffee or tea." "Okay, coffee then." My husband ordered a slurpy. 5 minutes passed. Water came. 5 minutes more, coffee came. 5 minutes more, the slurpy came. 5 minutes more nothing except the sounds of happy conversation between waiter and kitchen staff. 5 minutes more I stand and look toward the kitchen and waiter with my hands palm up in the air saying a silent "What?" There is my burger and another persons order waiting to be picked up. The waiter tells me that I'm in Hawaii and I should "Go with the flow. When in Rome, you know." I notice no heat lamp on the pick up table. The burger arrives with a room temperature burger and no fries. "They'll be here in a minute." Turns out they were having some kind of electrical problem. The cheese never made it to the burger, the fries never made it to the table - but at the cash register ($15) I was asked it I wanted the fries to go. P.S. 5 minutes after leaving I realize that the vege burger was probably a frozen patty that was thawed and not cooked. Not acceptable.

    the service is really bad. when we got there it took them a long time just to come to us to ask what we wanted to drink. when we ordered the drinks, it took a while for them to bring it to us and they forgot one person's drink, and screwed up on another person's drink order. and after we ordered our food they gave my friend the wrong order so they had to send it back. and i'm pretty sure everyone who ate at denny's before knows how long it takes for them to cook/serve you the food. well my breakfast was suppose to come with pancakes and guess what, i didn't get any. and all of us ordered drinks and not once did they ask us for a refill when our cups was empty. my friend had to ask for a refill and they took forever to give him his drink but they didn't ask any of us if we wanted one too. so if you're around that area, do not eat here. the restaurant looked old, the staff isn't trained, the food came out warmish, and service just sucked. and the menus were old, like a year or two ago.

    "Poor service, cold food, and outdated." I just went to Denny's on a Sunday morning to grab some breakfast with my family. The restaurant looks like they haven't updated the decor since 1975. When I went inside, there was no one else waiting to get seated, however, I waited for five minutes while two waitresses/ hostesses tried to figure out the computer system while talking story about their family. After staring at them while they talked, they finally seated me in the back. The restaurant was fairly busy, e.g. most of the tables were full, however, they had at least one waiter for every 5 or 6 tables working. Our waitress was the "Floor Supervisor,' however you wouldn't know it because I didnt see her for ten minutes, not even to get water or coffee. I finally had to wave another waiter down from another section to grab my waters. I should of realized something was up when I saw another guy pick up his drinks from the table and walk to the bar to get them refilled. She came finally, and without even an aloha, asked us "Waddya having?" I told her I would like some coffee and orange juice first, since thats what I usually like to do when I go on a sunday morning for breakfast, but I would go ahead an order because it seems like you're pretty busy. She didn't get the point, instead told me "good, what do you want then." I ordered my food, and waited another half hour for it to arrive. It wasn't the kitchen's fault, because I saw it sit on the counter under the warmer for ten minutes. The Floor Supervisor woudln't even come out of the kitchen so that I could ask her to get it for us, I have no idea what she was doing. At one point I saw her go to the bathroom, and not come out until ten minutes later, still wiping her hands. I really don't want to know what when on in there. Our food got to our table lukewarm. She didnt refill our waters our or coffee, instead ran away and ignored us every time she walked by again, literally looking away so she couldn't hear us. Meanwhile, three trainees stood around at the bar area, doing nothing. Not a very good Floor Supervisor. On the way out, I asked the hostess if they were shorthanded. She responded, "No, its just Sunday and its really busy." Sunday at a Dennys? Isn't that what this restaurant DOES? I gave the Floor Supervisor a 5% tip, only because I felt bad for the bus boy, who was doing a great job clearing off the tables.

    Ok, I know it's "Denny's" but still, this is a good one! My husband and I are visiting from Portland, OR., and couldn't find a place to eat coming back from some Upcountry sightseeing, and so when we saw Denny's we decided to stop cuz, well, at least it was familiar and we'd know what we were getting. Wrong! Why? because it was BETTER than any other Denny's I'd ever been to. I got the veggie burger and fries and there was fresh (yes, FRESH) spinach piled on the bun, fresh REAL mushrooms, and an amazingly delicious, seemingly homemade, veggie patty! WOW, right? It's Denny's! Who knew? Not to mention it was a comfy quiet place to sit and enjoy some food and go through our Maui books, etc. - and the staff were so sweet and friendly. Loved it! which I know is weird, but really, it's not easy to get food on the cheap here as we all know, and Denny's is never AMAZING - but this one was! Thanks dudes!

    Update time. ATMOSPHERE: The place is still in good condition. The dining area was clean. FOOD: Philly Cheesesteak Omelette - It's really a cheese omelette topped with steak bits, mushrooms, onions, and red & green bell peppers. The steak pieces were super tender but had a very odd & fake texture to it, though it tasted "normal." I detected some Kraft Singles-like cheese flavor which I didn't care for. The sides of hash browns, which were excellent, and toast were both good. SERVICE: We joined up with a large group for breakfast half way through their meal so I can't comment on the greeting. Our female server was friendly, professional, and checked up on us frequently. OVERALL: Good food, prices a lot lower than IHOP, good service. Good job Denny's Kahului!

    4 of us stopped in for breakfast after the Halelakela trip. Service was slow but a really nice server. The bathrooms were a disaster. The place just stunk. I had the moon over my hammy breakfast sandwich and it had no flavor. Very bland. Nice server keeps it from a one star.

    Placed order right away and We were told up front that they were short handed and it would take awhile. We were very patient, but my food came an hour later and then they came back 10 minutes later to tell my sister they were out of what she had ordered. Seriously! It took them 1hr 10 min to figure that out. Close this place down.

    As we were seated the host scraped off something sticky on our table with one of the table settings. He then handed is sticky menus. Been sitting here for 15 minutes. We were given water and ordered water. The staff is disengaged with customers and are more concerned about talking with each other. Addressed our concerns with the manager and his response was poor...looked like a deer in headlights. At the time of this review there were 8 front of house staff and 12 tables. Whoever oversees this place needs to take Customers Service 101.

    So we waited ten minutes and I immediately noticed that the waitress took her sweet time then we sat for 8 minutes to get our half flat sodas then about 25 minutes of waiting and we received cold fries and we could tell are food must of been sitting for over 5 minutes so poor service poor food

    We have eaten here numerous times over the years and the service seems to be getting slower each time. Yesterday we came in for breakfast and sat for 15 min after being seated before even being offered water. The gentleman manager was abrupt and rude. His comment as waking up to leave was "Next time try McDonalds not a restaurant if you want quick service.". Not typical for a Denny's. We will never eat there again. Try Marco's across the street. Much better service and friendly service.

    This place sucked! We got to the restaurant at 9:30pm with only 4 tables filled. It wasn't busy yet it took awhile for the waiters to bring us to our seats. As we got seated, we weren't greeted nor did the servers ask us what we wanted to drink. We finally ordered our food around 10:20 and didn't get our food until nearly 11:15! It seemed to me like they were understaffed - however, on a Friday night, they should be prepared for a good sized rush. As we got our food, the server did not apologize for the long wait. The servers didn't even check up on us for refills or anything.. so we were pretty much thirsty by the end of the night! As for the food, it seemed like our food was left out for awhile. When my boyfriend and his friend got their fried rice loco moco, it seemed cold and the gravy already hardened! How disgusting! As we left, the waiter/server (MICHAEL L.) checked us out and seemed like he was completely rushing us. He didn't even know how to split our check so that our party could pay separately. When asked if he could do so, he quietly whispered, "Sh*t! F*ck!" as he got frustrated. What kind of customer service is that? Not only did we have to wait a long time for our food, but we were not apologized to or anything. Also, he swore in front of us showing his frustration! Denny's Kahului is very unprofessional, slow, and somewhere I wouldn't wish to go to anymore. If you wanna eat, I'd prefer going else where because the service here SUCKS!

    This is the worst Denny's we've ever been to! I wish I had "yelped" this location before we went for breakfast. The staff is very unfriendly and they ignore you when you walk in. Rosie, our server, was the only server actually working. All the other servers were out hiding, smoking in the parking lot. She was so busy and had no help, that our food was slow and we were missing items. Hot & stuffy inside. No A/C, so the doors were all propped open and flies were everywhere. Avoid this place at all cost!

    worst Denny's ever. link sausage tasted old, eggs must've been cooked on a charcoal grill cuz there was black stuff all in it (I thought it was pepper but when I flipped it over there was a huge chunk of black), the hash brown was burnt on the outside but the inside was all mushy.

    Food so far is really bad. Nachos had no meat. No refills on our soft drinks. I won first place for the worst plate at our table. With that being said the manager came by and fixed everything and made everything better. When you go with 14 ppl it makes it hard to get everything perfect.

    After being seated I waited about 15 minutes or so to be asked about my order. I was not brought nor offered any drink until after my order was placed. I ordered off of the "Baconalia" menu a simple order of peppered bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns and and English muffin. 30 minutes later I was still waiting for my food. Luckily my water did finally show up. I was told once in that half hour that my food would be ready shortly. 20 minutes into my wait I heard my waitress explaining to the cook what my order was...remember I ordered off of the Baconalia menu. When it did finally arrive I was given regular bacon and not the special peppered bacon that was unique to this menu item. When I mentioned all of this to the cashier at the front, no discount was offered and they don't give Kama aina. Lucky for me it was my day off so I was not in a rush but the service was just terrible. I also mentioned to the cashier about their poor reviews on Yelp. They just don't get it here nor will they likely get my business again. I still left a $3 tip on my $10 order as poor waitress has to deal with this poorly managed employer which is not her fault.

    I wish Yelp would alow me to pick "0" or -1 Stars because this Denny's near the airport (Kahului) is just the worst, and my despicable experience was quite similar to most of the reviews for this "restaurant." I grew up traveling and I've been to Denny's establishments all over the nation. This was by far a major fall from quality...I think that says a lot for this chain...so Future Customers...take warning. It will be like Russian roulette trying to get "SERVICE" out of this joint. We walk in, receive no greeting from the hostess as she's on her cell phone and doesn't bother to look up, just points a finger behind her and says seat yourself (Hahahahaha...should've known at that point). But we were starving having just returned from a 10 hour Road to Hana adventure and thought we could always count on good 'ol Denny's to fill our bellys. WRONG So we sit at a table then I notice the the carpet below is just littered with bits of food...gross, but I say nothing hoping that we can just get some service, eat a hot meal, and go. But that is asking tooooo MUCH from this place. Our waiter was hanging out by the kitchen..just standing there for several minutes staring at who knows what. He had a wormy face, and that was more off putting then the pile of food bits on the carpet around the table. Since the waiter was just standing there and we had been waiting without service for several minutes my fiance went up to ask if we could put an order in. The worm faced waiter was extremely rude and said we'd just have to wait til he came to us. That's when we finally got up and walked out. Our exit was made a little more colorful by my fiance but I will not go into detail on that. Never done it before, but looks like the Better Business Bureau needs to be contacted on this one. It's a major waste of people's time and money; this place is unacceptable and doesn't deserve to exist.

    After my party was seated, the waiter came to get our drinks. Ooh, that was fast! Husband ordered a glass of oj for me. 5 min go by...no oj. The waiter comes back to actually get our order. We ask for the oj again. 5 min pass again. Still no oj. Seriously? This time my husband has to flag down the waiter to ask for the oj yet again. FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY it comes. Just to let you know, there are only 4 other tables besides us with 2 servers. I think that's plenty of time to get some oj, don't you think? When I ordered my French toast combo, the waiter asked if I wanted cheese on my eggs. I looked at him in the eyes and said, "No cheese." You can guess what I found on my eggs when my food came. Also, they charged me for the cheese so we had to dispute it. The only good thing is...it tastes like Denny's.

    I didn't pay too much attention to the reviews figuring how bad can it be its just a Denny's but how wrong I was. Took 20 minutes to take the order and only after we went and found a waitress on our own. The the order came back completely wrong and after three tries to correct it I gave up. A waste of time and money. And they overcharged me for one of the items saying the deal was not valid on sundays (I was there on a Monday).

    So, I figured I'd give Dennys here another chance since the one in Buena Park was so good. Nope! It all started when we walked in and the lady at the cash register completely ignored us and pretended she was busy, even though the restaurant was pretty empty. Soon a man I assume to be the host, slowly walked over and asked how many we had with us. He seated us, gave us menus, and walked away. Without taking a drink order, like they usually do in most restaurants. After about 10 minutes, he returned to our table and took the drink order. Our actual server than dropped by after another 5 minutes or so to take our orders for food. And, when it arrived (pretty quickly), it was decent. I had the chicken fried steak and eggs. Good, but the gravy looked like it was made of marshmallows it was so thick. The prime rib melt was tasty as well. It just didn't seem like they wanted us there and it felt awkward. Would not go back, even if someone else was paying.

    The worst service EVER!! We were already seated for 10 mins and the table behind me sat down. Not even a couple mins later, they were having their order taken. Then, the waitresses were at the back counter talking about what tables they had, then noticed that I was tapping my fingers on the table, looking around, waiting for someone/anyone to come to the table. A waitress finally came & I explained to her that the people behind me just sat down and had their order already taken. She said, "I'm sorry, but we all have 10 tables each..." SERIOUSLY?!     Well, the service was so bad we weren't even sat. Left after 10 minutes of standing there with ZERO acknowledgement. This on a weekday! In fact, many people were waiting with zero acknowledgement. The bathroom reminded me of a truck stop bathroom. The whole place had a dank/dingy feel. After a party of 6 walked in, we left. I felt like if it was bad just to be sat, it was going to be bad sitting.

    I've never been in any Denny's, that when you are seated the servers actually look away from you hoping you do not want to order. After 15 mins I finally had to ask for someone to come to our table to take our order. Service is horrible and almost comical. The table next to us was given the wrong food and asked for their food and the waitress told them to try what she brought them they may like it. Wth?!?!?

    Worst Dennys ever! We visited this Denny's with a party of 7, on a slow weekday night. The occupancy was less than half. We waited almost 45 min for our food after time of ordering and when we finally got our food all of our orders had something wrong with them. We ordered tropical pancake puppies and the cook/waitress forgot to make them. We kept asking for them for over an hour and we FINALLY got them after we were all done eating and while we were paying. Who gets food while they are paying!? We decided to look in the box and to our astonishment they were burnt and the original kind, not the tropical kind we asked for many many times. Eventually gave up and threw them away and got a refund for them. I ordered the cinnamon roll pancakes and in between my pancakes there was burnt crunchy cheese and burnt sausage pieces. One of us ordered a club sandwich with regular fries and when the food came she got a dry club sandwich with no mayo in it and seasoned fries, which they charged extra for even though she specifically asked for regular fries. Another person ordered the peanut butter pancakes and it was missing the chocolate chips and the white chocolate chips in the batter. One of us ordered the nachos which are supposed to come with pico de gallo, they didn't. When we asked for the pico de gallo the waitress had no idea what we were talking about and brought out salsa instead. No refills on strawberry lemonade the whole time we were there. The waitress gave us the wrong tea cups back after she refilled and after we drank from the wrong ones she wanted us to "just switch". The staff were all arguing with each other the whole time. To top it all off, several groups who came in after us got up and walked out because service was insanely slow. Horrible experience never going back. When reading these reviews trust them, this Dennys is unlike any other, in a bad way.

    Worst service ever! The hostess guy seems really sassy and rude. Was not comfortable to talk to at all! Then after he seated me and my boyfriend our waitress came and asked if we wanted to drink. Then after 10-15mins she came back and took our order. After another 15-20mins she came out with the wrong order it was the people sitting next to us. Then she can out I got the ultimate omelet with white toast and a side of pancakes she just brought out the omelette and WHEAT toast so I told her I ordered white. So she said she was going to get it and never returned till we were finished eating. Then she ask how was everything and I said I still never got my pancakes and WHITE toast and she tries to give me attitude and says can I get it for you now and I said yah I guess. She came out with it and the pancakes tasted like crap! I think her name was rosa or something close to that! But it was really bad service we are never returning again! Go to ihop! Much better service !

    Food was good as in other Denny's. We did not wait too much to sit, nor to order, nor to receive food. The waitress was really taking care of us even if she was alone in the room (+ one guy bringing food to the tables). There is a big parking around the restaurant. We used a discount coupon, easy to find them in almost every Maui promotional booklet.

    As expected - nothing great here. I did enjoy the Eggs in a Basket though which is a new entree for breakfast. Waitress screwed up our bill - thank god the wife caught it. cashier screwed up too. Bring low expectations and you won't be disappointed. Same as usual Denny's fare.

    Since my last review, we've been here several times, and each time, we were greatly disappointed. THE SERVICE HERE SUCKS!!! SUCKS BAD!!! At least they're consistent with their crappy service! Have to give them props on that! The food is still average Denny's fare, which would be 3 stars, but because of the consistently bad, crappy, slow, terrible service, we will definitely not go back to this location! Even when there is only one or two other small tables to be serviced, it seems the servers go out of their way to ignore the customers. From trying not to make eye contact to walking through the service aisle instead of the dining room, the servers here definitely do not earn or deserve a gratuity. DO NOT FEEL OBLIGATED TO LEAVE A TIP, since they obviously don't feel obligated to provide basic services! This place needs a complete overhaul of their servers, as even the ones I praised before stopped giving a shit about the customers. I really feel bad for the cooks, who consistently deliver the food on time, but it's when you see your food sitting in the window between 5 to 10 minutes, at least, and see your server talking story with the other servers or prepping so they can leave on time, makes you wonder where their priorities lie. Seems to me they're more worried about their hourly wage than their tips. So, again, DO NOT FEEL OBLIGATED TO LEAVE A TIP, especially for the consistently shitty service! If I could tip out the cooks, I'd feel better about leaving this disaster of a restaurant, since I would definitely stiff the wait staff! Kind of sad, since they make a mean fried rice loco moco, but when you see your meal sitting under the heat lamp for what seems like days and you are starving and have licked your water glass dry, or have not even received your water even after ordering, THAT SUCKS!!! So, as with all the other 1 star reviews, trust me on this...DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR YOUR TIME! Unless you're into receiving the absolute worse service in the world, this place is THE worst place to dine. And that's saying a lot!     The food was actually not bad. But the service was really bad. We arrived at 11:30, right before lunch and there was only 8 people in the resturant. Bad sign. Still, our drinks took a real time to come out. Oh, and that's after waiting for 5 minutes for a waiter to get to our table. I hope that the owner reads these posts and gets his waiters straightened out otherwise he'll keep on losing business. I know I ain't coming back.

    If there were 0 stars for this denny's location I would have given that. Its the "WORST" denny's I ever went to. First, when we arrived the restaurant was all empty which I never experienced especially with any denny's location, then I ordered coffee, so the problems start... At first coffee came in dirty mugs, I asked the waitress to replace that, after 5 mins she comes with another coffee which to my surprise is again in dirty mug, so here I'm looking for her to give me creamer and also waiting for her to ask for replacement of this mug. After 10 mins she comes with our order and I tell her that coffee mug is dirty, to that without apologizing she says all our mugs are like that, so I got pissed off and told her to give me plain water. Me and my wife are both vegetarians, my wife ordered "Loaded Veggie Omelet" and to our surprise it's coming with bacon strips, she said that it pops in our system that bacon strips go with that. It's heights, we are from California and going to denny's is regular breakfast regime for us, we never ever got bacon strips with this dish but she was so adamant that it always comes with bacon strips. Since these guys were not even apologizing for their mistakes, we both left without taking any sip or bite of any food or drink. Will definitely recommend to stay away from this denny's location. Also, the staff is horrible they just keep avoiding eye contact. Hope, denny's as a chain looks to these reviews coz locations like these are spoiling their reputation and goodwill.

    Loco moco is 5 scoops rice and one tiny hamburger patty. The molten lava cake with hot chocolate in the middle DID NOT HAVE ANY CHOCOLATE and we were still required to pay for a dry cake that we didn't order since we ordered it filled with hot chocolate! They are not good for groups of people because they are unable to split a bill down the middle. Took 5 minutes since they have to figure out who ate what and make separate tickets. Definitely the first and last time we will be eating here!

    Update time. ATMOSPHERE: The place is still in good condition. The dining area was clean. FOOD: Philly Cheesesteak Omelette - It's really a cheese omelette topped with steak bits, mushrooms, onions, and red & green bell peppers. The steak pieces were super tender but had a very odd & fake texture to it, though it tasted "normal." I detected some Kraft Singles-like cheese flavor which I didn't care for. The sides of hash browns, which were excellent, and toast were both good. SERVICE: We joined up with a large group for breakfast half way through their meal so I can't comment on the greeting. Our female server was friendly, professional, and checked up on us frequently. OVERALL: Good food, prices a lot lower than IHOP, good service. Good job Denny's Kahului!

    4 of us stopped in for breakfast after the Halelakela trip. Service was slow but a really nice server. The bathrooms were a disaster. The place just stunk. I had the moon over my hammy breakfast sandwich and it had no flavor. Very bland. Nice server keeps it from a one star.

    Placed order right away and We were told up front that they were short handed and it would take awhile. We were very patient, but my food came an hour later and then they came back 10 minutes later to tell my sister they were out of what she had ordered. Seriously! It took them 1hr 10 min to figure that out. Close this place down.

    As we were seated the host scraped off something sticky on our table with one of the table settings. He then handed is sticky menus. Been sitting here for 15 minutes. We were given water and ordered water. The staff is disengaged with customers and are more concerned about talking with each other. Addressed our concerns with the manager and his response was poor...looked like a deer in headlights. At the time of this review there were 8 front of house staff and 12 tables. Whoever oversees this place needs to take Customers Service 101.

    So we waited ten minutes and I immediately noticed that the waitress took her sweet time then we sat for 8 minutes to get our half flat sodas then about 25 minutes of waiting and we received cold fries and we could tell are food must of been sitting for over 5 minutes so poor service poor food

    Our family (kids 12 and 7) ate in all the surrounding restaurants while on holiday and this is our favorite! Great service, big portions and the right price. Everyone is helpful and Renee a fantastic server. We found out most reviews are old before the new management. See you soon!

    Ugh! Where do I even begin. I walked in there with a couple of my friends and it was about 9:00 at night. We waited at the door for about 20 min. We got a little impatient because nobody was assisting us or even giving us the time of day. So we sat ourselves. We then waited at the table for about 10 min. I got upset so I went to one of the waiters I saw and asked him for a couple glasses of water. He looked sweaty and I could tell he was frustrated. He then yelled at me and told me that he was doing the best he can and if I wasn't going to be patient, I need to leave and get out of the restaurant!! He was an older looking guy. Can't remember exactly how he looked because I was so DISGUSTED with the way he talked to me! He should be fired immediately!!! Ugh so gross.

    So, I figured I'd give Dennys here another chance since the one in Buena Park was so good. Nope! It all started when we walked in and the lady at the cash register completely ignored us and pretended she was busy, even though the restaurant was pretty empty. Soon a man I assume to be the host, slowly walked over and asked how many we had with us. He seated us, gave us menus, and walked away. Without taking a drink order, like they usually do in most restaurants. After about 10 minutes, he returned to our table and took the drink order. Our actual server than dropped by after another 5 minutes or so to take our orders for food. And, when it arrived (pretty quickly), it was decent. I had the chicken fried steak and eggs. Good, but the gravy looked like it was made of marshmallows it was so thick. The prime rib melt was tasty as well. It just didn't seem like they wanted us there and it felt awkward. Would not go back, even if someone else was paying.

    Well, the service was so bad we weren't even sat. Left after 10 minutes of standing there with ZERO acknowledgement. This on a weekday! In fact, many people were waiting with zero acknowledgement. The bathroom reminded me of a truck stop bathroom. The whole place had a dank/dingy feel. After a party of 6 walked in, we left. I felt like if it was bad just to be sat, it was going to be bad sitting.

    I've never been in any Denny's, that when you are seated the servers actually look away from you hoping you do not want to order. After 15 mins I finally had to ask for someone to come to our table to take our order. Service is horrible and almost comical. The table next to us was given the wrong food and asked for their food and the waitress told them to try what she brought them they may like it. Wth?!?!?

    Slowest service I have ever had at a Dennys. The food is pretty standard, nothing exciting. Some of it was not warm. The staff is very nice and apologetic. They are way under staffed! We will not be eating here again.

    Worst Dennys ever! We visited this Denny's with a party of 7, on a slow weekday night. The occupancy was less than half. We waited almost 45 min for our food after time of ordering and when we finally got our food all of our orders had something wrong with them. We ordered tropical pancake puppies and the cook/waitress forgot to make them. We kept asking for them for over an hour and we FINALLY got them after we were all done eating and while we were paying. Who gets food while they are paying!? We decided to look in the box and to our astonishment they were burnt and the original kind, not the tropical kind we asked for many many times. Eventually gave up and threw them away and got a refund for them. I ordered the cinnamon roll pancakes and in between my pancakes there was burnt crunchy cheese and burnt sausage pieces. One of us ordered a club sandwich with regular fries and when the food came she got a dry club sandwich with no mayo in it and seasoned fries, which they charged extra for even though she specifically asked for regular fries. Another person ordered the peanut butter pancakes and it was missing the chocolate chips and the white chocolate chips in the batter. One of us ordered the nachos which are supposed to come with pico de gallo, they didn't. When we asked for the pico de gallo the waitress had no idea what we were talking about and brought out salsa instead. No refills on strawberry lemonade the whole time we were there. The waitress gave us the wrong tea cups back after she refilled and after we drank from the wrong ones she wanted us to "just switch". The staff were all arguing with each other the whole time. To top it all off, several groups who came in after us got up and walked out because service was insanely slow. Horrible experience never going back. When reading these reviews trust them, this Dennys is unlike any other, in a bad way.

    I read the reviews before coming here, and they are all true: this is THE worst Denny's ever! First of all, the restaurant was out of white rice. Now how the heck can you be out of white rice for dinner in Hawaii?! Then the food takes forever. It took nearly half an hour for a tossed green salad to be brought to our table. Does it really take that long to put raw lettuce and tomato in a bowl?! The person who ordered the salad said the lettuce was probably still being grown. LOL To top it off, we didn't get not one, but THREE of the items we ordered, including toast, French fries, and a strawberry banana smoothie. We didn't even bother reminding the waitress because we were almost done with the rest of our meals. Yup, of course I didn't tip.

    Like many other Denny's, rather understaffed for how busy it was at breakfast. Though overworked, our waitress was friendly and kept my coffee cup filled. Food is typical Denny's. We ordered breakfast, which is Denny's strong point. The Mrs. Tried the red-white-blue pancake breakfast special. These specials always give an awful lot of food - would have been a couple of dollars more if they had been on the regular menu. Blueberry pancakes with whipped cream and strawberry on top were good and not as sweet as similar offerings at IHOP. Eggs were cooked as ordered and hash browns and bacon were nicely browned. I ordered french toast, which was done just right - definitely had the egg batter but not so much that the bread became soggy. As a bonus, coupon in tourist publication (this location only) gave us 1/2 off one breakfast.

    Stopped here for breakfast before flying out back to the mainland and we enjoyed it. Our server Marie was very friendly and efficient, before I could as for a refill on my coffee she was there to refill my cup. She had a great attitude despite it being g busy on Thanksgiving Day and fairly busy. The MOD, Jake, was great. He walked the the floor talking and joking with all the customers. The Dennys around where I live, you have to ask for refills and what not. So this was a nice change. The food was good and after spending a small fortune on food during our vacation, it was a good relief on the budget for a meal for 4. Mahalo

    We came in for dinner on a Sunday night. They run out of utensils, so we got plastic ones. I ordered a healthy burger that goes with vegetables, they run out of carrots and celery too! My husband's omelette was Ok, the hash browns that went with it was cold. Overall, it was not a pleasant experience! Couldn't wait to get out of there! Prior to this, we went there for breakfast but we walked out because we were sitting there for about 10 minutes, but no one has approached us and we were in a hurry.

    Just wasted 40 minutes and not even a greeting. Waited about 15 minutes in line to be seated, while a lady seemed to be training the cashier. No greeting or acknowledgement. Finally seated and wait another ten minutes with no water or hello from anyone. The cashier comes over takes our order and disappears for the next 25 minutes. No silverware, drinks or anything from anyone. This place was not busy and appeared we'll staffed. We walked out and went to IHOP. We thought we'd give them a try, but will stick with IHOP where they know what a greeting is.

    I am sitting at this Denny's right now while writing this review. After a long flight, we thought it would be good to eat something before driving to our final destination. I am already regretting it and based on other reviewers I should have expected it. The waiter is polite but service is really poor. He brought the coffee I ordered but did not bring any cream for 20 mins when my wife asked him by calling out. Still no sign of food yet!

    Worst customer service on this island! Waited 25 mins just for water but never got it, in fact we never saw our waitress/waiter. We walked out! I spoke to the manager who was apologetic and even offered to be our waitress but it was too late, my family was already getting into the car! The franchise owner called me within an hour after I emailed him so that was a plus. We went across the street to Marcos, arrived there at 10:50am and left at 11:30..we were greeted right away, got our drinks within 3 minutes of us being seated, ordered our food, ate and our bill was under $40..now thats customer service!

    Went here at 6am. Only two other customers there at a table. A guy and a girl who have been partying all night. Loud as hell! Girl had a hyena laugh.     After being seated I waited about 15 minutes or so to be asked about my order. I was not brought nor offered any drink until after my order was placed. I ordered off of the "Baconalia" menu a simple order of peppered bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns and and English muffin. 30 minutes later I was still waiting for my food. Luckily my water did finally show up. I was told once in that half hour that my food would be ready shortly. 20 minutes into my wait I heard my waitress explaining to the cook what my order was...remember I ordered off of the Baconalia menu. When it did finally arrive I was given regular bacon and not the special peppered bacon that was unique to this menu item. When I mentioned all of this to the cashier at the front, no discount was offered and they don't give Kama aina. Lucky for me it was my day off so I was not in a rush but the service was just terrible. I also mentioned to the cashier about their poor reviews on Yelp. They just don't get it here nor will they likely get my business again. I still left a $3 tip on my $10 order as poor waitress has to deal with this poorly managed employer which is not her fault.

    If I could id give no stars. We had 6 ppl and only 2 other tables. Started out fine but then the food came one by one for 4 ppl. Then it stopped leaving 2 ppl without. Soup was cold. Fries were overdone and old and cold. Then our 2 leftover ppls food sat on the warmer for 10 mind min when I noticed them and we waited for our waitress to give it to us as she was on the phone. The other waitress saw and walked away. We asked her to serve us the did and we were trying to eat and get in our flight. She was looking awkward and waited by the food to ask our server if it was our food bc u know there were so many ppl in there. She finally brings the food over. My eggs over my hammy are child. Like out of the fridge child and is my favorite sandwhich. My husband's pancakes were thick in the gross way and crusty on the outside and mushy in the inside. Overall id rather spend 8 bucks in the airport burgerking than this.

    I would give this Denny's a BIG FAT 0 but I don't have that option. This is the worst Denny's ever. We order some of the popular items on the menu but the waitress kept saying "oh we're out of that and that and that". Like really they should shut down the place if your out of food. One couple was sitting across of us waited a very long time for their food. The wife end up leaving. Then the manager was complaining that she left without paying for her food. They even try to call the cops on the husband. Umm excuse me her food never even arrived yet at her table. Don't you think that there is a reason why she left. Because your service suck! I would never ever recommend anyone to go here.

    The worst service EVER!! We were already seated for 10 mins and the table behind me sat down. Not even a couple mins later, they were having their order taken. Then, the waitresses were at the back counter talking about what tables they had, then noticed that I was tapping my fingers on the table, looking around, waiting for someone/anyone to come to the table. A waitress finally came & I explained to her that the people behind me just sat down and had their order already taken. She said, "I'm sorry, but we all have 10 tables each..." SERIOUSLY?!     Worst service ever! The hostess guy seems really sassy and rude. Was not comfortable to talk to at all! Then after he seated me and my boyfriend our waitress came and asked if we wanted to drink. Then after 10-15mins she came back and took our order. After another 15-20mins she came out with the wrong order it was the people sitting next to us. Then she can out I got the ultimate omelet with white toast and a side of pancakes she just brought out the omelette and WHEAT toast so I told her I ordered white. So she said she was going to get it and never returned till we were finished eating. Then she ask how was everything and I said I still never got my pancakes and WHITE toast and she tries to give me attitude and says can I get it for you now and I said yah I guess. She came out with it and the pancakes tasted like crap! I think her name was rosa or something close to that! But it was really bad service we are never returning again! Go to ihop! Much better service !

    Food was good as in other Denny's. We did not wait too much to sit, nor to order, nor to receive food. The waitress was really taking care of us even if she was alone in the room (+ one guy bringing food to the tables). There is a big parking around the restaurant. We used a discount coupon, easy to find them in almost every Maui promotional booklet.

    As expected - nothing great here. I did enjoy the Eggs in a Basket though which is a new entree for breakfast. Waitress screwed up our bill - thank god the wife caught it. cashier screwed up too. Bring low expectations and you won't be disappointed. Same as usual Denny's fare.

    The worst place on maui.... I pulled up at 5am and the sever was outside and told me its gonna be a 30 to 60 minute wait because the owner said they need to take there breaks..... whit out saying anything I got back in my car and left. No standard of customer service what so ever.

    This place sucked! We got to the restaurant at 9:30pm with only 4 tables filled. It wasn't busy yet it took awhile for the waiters to bring us to our seats. As we got seated, we weren't greeted nor did the servers ask us what we wanted to drink. We finally ordered our food around 10:20 and didn't get our food until nearly 11:15! It seemed to me like they were understaffed - however, on a Friday night, they should be prepared for a good sized rush. As we got our food, the server did not apologize for the long wait. The servers didn't even check up on us for refills or anything.. so we were pretty much thirsty by the end of the night! As for the food, it seemed like our food was left out for awhile. When my boyfriend and his friend got their fried rice loco moco, it seemed cold and the gravy already hardened! How disgusting! As we left, the waiter/server (MICHAEL L.) checked us out and seemed like he was completely rushing us. He didn't even know how to split our check so that our party could pay separately. When asked if he could do so, he quietly whispered, "Sh*t! F*ck!" as he got frustrated. What kind of customer service is that? Not only did we have to wait a long time for our food, but we were not apologized to or anything. Also, he swore in front of us showing his frustration! Denny's Kahului is very unprofessional, slow, and somewhere I wouldn't wish to go to anymore. If you wanna eat, I'd prefer going else where because the service here SUCKS!

    This is the worst Denny's we've ever been to! I wish I had "yelped" this location before we went for breakfast. The staff is very unfriendly and they ignore you when you walk in. Rosie, our server, was the only server actually working. All the other servers were out hiding, smoking in the parking lot. She was so busy and had no help, that our food was slow and we were missing items. Hot & stuffy inside. No A/C, so the doors were all propped open and flies were everywhere. Avoid this place at all cost!

    DEFINITELY NOT AGAIN: BEFORE: We went for a typical Sunday breakfast. When we walked in we were motioned to follow this waitress to our table. She didn't see the third person in our party so she seated us for two. When we asked for a booth, her body language and tone in her voice was one of disgust and stated that we need to go back and sit down in the front until one was available- not a problem. About 10 minutes later we were seated in a booth and instead of apologizing in advance for the heated restaurant, the hostess simply said, "oh yeah- our A/C is broken- that's why we wanted to sit you at a table in the front". We then waited another 15 minutes for our waitress to acknowledge us and take our order. My husband ordered milk and our server said they were out, yet a another gentleman was served a tall glass shortly after we completed our order. How are you out of milk? Who does your ordering? DURING: Our food was served 25 minutes after we placed our order despite the fact the restaurant had a total of 8 tables all except for 1 had their food. The temperature was "warm" and not hot, the eggs were overcooked even to the point where they were covered with "brown spots" aka burn spots. My daughter's order needed to get sent back twice because they did include 2 items on the build your own pancakes and even stated they ran out of hot fudge. Once again, who does your ordering? AFTER: When cashing out, the hostess proceeded to answer the phone while grossly mispronouncing KA-HU-LUI Denny's not KA-WA-LUE Denny's. She didn't ask how experience was or even thank us for waiting while she took the call. She just took our money. Server was very gracious given the circumstances but not the best Denny's experience AT ALL. I will never come back to this Denny's again.

    worst Denny's ever. link sausage tasted old, eggs must've been cooked on a charcoal grill cuz there was black stuff all in it (I thought it was pepper but when I flipped it over there was a huge chunk of black), the hash brown was burnt on the outside but the inside was all mushy.

    We stopped here after landing in Maui, hoping to find a decent place that was familiar because we were tired (and one of our group was not feeling well). Wished we had searched harder for something different. Coming into the restaurant, it is a typical Denny's. A bit run-down, the same kind of service people (how does that happen world-wide?), and the typical menu items. I will say we were disappointed that we could not use The Hobbit menu - for some reason they didn't have it available, despite the advertising of it all over the restaurant. It wasn't a good start. The waitress seemed quite clueless, and proved it throughout the meal. She didn't know the menu well, didn't seem all there when taking our order, and did not come back to our table often enough to re-fill coffee, etc. The food was a bit below average, even for a Denny's. It was slow coming out, and one of the meals was lukewarm as well. Listen, you're on vacation (most likely) right? Find a local spot (like Da Kitchen Cafe nearby), and you'll be much happier. Sometimes the 'safe choice' is not the best choice!

    This Denny's is pretty terrible. We stopped here on our way to the airport and I would definitely recommend you stop elsewhere! The waits to be seated and to get the food were long even though the restaurant was relatively empty. They were out of many items on the menu and the food came nothing like the decription or pictures. The salad for instance came with regular tomatoes instead of grape tomatoes, they were out of the breaded chicken, and the dinner roll on the side was actually a piece of garlic bread. The grilled chicken tasted unusual as well. What's worse though was the hair in my lettuce. On the positive side, our waitress was nice.

    Empty parking lot, empty restaurant. Now I know why. We had planned to go to IHOP initially, but after seeing that line, we decided to go to Denny's instead. On a Sunday morning, I noticed only three waitstaff for the entire restaurant. Food took nearly 20 minutes to the table and no one to refill ur coffee either. I'd rather spend my money elsewhere.

    HORRIBLE service. My very first time walking out of a restaurant in my 38 years. Waited a good 15 minutes for order to even be taken, (longer just to get water), then after an hour and ten minutes, couldn't wait any longer for food (they said it would be another ten minutes, and the place was about a quarter full. The other people we were meeting there said it was a good thing we never got our food because it was horrible and expensive. My niece took one bite of her nachos - they were "disgusting". I'm sorry this gives Denny's a bad name - we just went to one north of Seattle that had great food and service!

    Dennys and their average American food. Don't expect much even though they keep rolling out new specials. They had a cheesy menu (no pun intended) and had cheese on everything. It was aweful and the smoked chedder sausage was the size of he cheapest hot dogs you find in your supermarket. I also ordered a side of Mac & Cheese. It was made with a creamy white cheese and shells. It came to me room tempture to cold in the middle. The cheese was runny like water and it had a taste of water, as if it was not properly drained after being boiled. I simply can't find myself return to this dennys until they get their act together. Also noted their waffle maker was down for the second time I came here in a span of a few months in between. Come on Dennys, you should be a little better.

    We have eaten here numerous times over the years and the service seems to be getting slower each time. Yesterday we came in for breakfast and sat for 15 min after being seated before even being offered water. The gentleman manager was abrupt and rude. His comment as waking up to leave was "Next time try McDonalds not a restaurant if you want quick service.". Not typical for a Denny's. We will never eat there again. Try Marco's across the street. Much better service and friendly service.

    I am giving one star because the lights are on, the room is pleasant (overlooking an auto dealership) and it has air conditioning. BUT, we dropped by at 2:30 in the afternoon. There were eight customers and six staff present. We had to find our own menus (glossy with vivid pictures) and seats. A waiter drifted by after a time and asked what we wanted. We asked for help deconstructing the menu. I asked about their version of a tuna melt or grilled cheese sandwich. "We don't have that - no tuna." "How about a vegeburger?" He browsed the menu also. "Well, you can get any burger listed and ask for vege instead of meat." "Okay, I'll have a cheeseburger but with vege instead of meat and a glass of non-fat milk." "No. We have sodas and juices or coffee or tea." "Okay, coffee then." My husband ordered a slurpy. 5 minutes passed. Water came. 5 minutes more, coffee came. 5 minutes more, the slurpy came. 5 minutes more nothing except the sounds of happy conversation between waiter and kitchen staff. 5 minutes more I stand and look toward the kitchen and waiter with my hands palm up in the air saying a silent "What?" There is my burger and another persons order waiting to be picked up. The waiter tells me that I'm in Hawaii and I should "Go with the flow. When in Rome, you know." I notice no heat lamp on the pick up table. The burger arrives with a room temperature burger and no fries. "They'll be here in a minute." Turns out they were having some kind of electrical problem. The cheese never made it to the burger, the fries never made it to the table - but at the cash register ($15) I was asked it I wanted the fries to go. P.S. 5 minutes after leaving I realize that the vege burger was probably a frozen patty that was thawed and not cooked. Not acceptable.

    the service is really bad. when we got there it took them a long time just to come to us to ask what we wanted to drink. when we ordered the drinks, it took a while for them to bring it to us and they forgot one person's drink, and screwed up on another person's drink order. and after we ordered our food they gave my friend the wrong order so they had to send it back. and i'm pretty sure everyone who ate at denny's before knows how long it takes for them to cook/serve you the food. well my breakfast was suppose to come with pancakes and guess what, i didn't get any. and all of us ordered drinks and not once did they ask us for a refill when our cups was empty. my friend had to ask for a refill and they took forever to give him his drink but they didn't ask any of us if we wanted one too. so if you're around that area, do not eat here. the restaurant looked old, the staff isn't trained, the food came out warmish, and service just sucked. and the menus were old, like a year or two ago.

    "Poor service, cold food, and outdated." I just went to Denny's on a Sunday morning to grab some breakfast with my family. The restaurant looks like they haven't updated the decor since 1975. When I went inside, there was no one else waiting to get seated, however, I waited for five minutes while two waitresses/ hostesses tried to figure out the computer system while talking story about their family. After staring at them while they talked, they finally seated me in the back. The restaurant was fairly busy, e.g. most of the tables were full, however, they had at least one waiter for every 5 or 6 tables working. Our waitress was the "Floor Supervisor,' however you wouldn't know it because I didnt see her for ten minutes, not even to get water or coffee. I finally had to wave another waiter down from another section to grab my waters. I should of realized something was up when I saw another guy pick up his drinks from the table and walk to the bar to get them refilled. She came finally, and without even an aloha, asked us "Waddya having?" I told her I would like some coffee and orange juice first, since thats what I usually like to do when I go on a sunday morning for breakfast, but I would go ahead an order because it seems like you're pretty busy. She didn't get the point, instead told me "good, what do you want then." I ordered my food, and waited another half hour for it to arrive. It wasn't the kitchen's fault, because I saw it sit on the counter under the warmer for ten minutes. The Floor Supervisor woudln't even come out of the kitchen so that I could ask her to get it for us, I have no idea what she was doing. At one point I saw her go to the bathroom, and not come out until ten minutes later, still wiping her hands. I really don't want to know what when on in there. Our food got to our table lukewarm. She didnt refill our waters our or coffee, instead ran away and ignored us every time she walked by again, literally looking away so she couldn't hear us. Meanwhile, three trainees stood around at the bar area, doing nothing. Not a very good Floor Supervisor. On the way out, I asked the hostess if they were shorthanded. She responded, "No, its just Sunday and its really busy." Sunday at a Dennys? Isn't that what this restaurant DOES? I gave the Floor Supervisor a 5% tip, only because I felt bad for the bus boy, who was doing a great job clearing off the tables.

    Ok, I know it's "Denny's" but still, this is a good one! My husband and I are visiting from Portland, OR., and couldn't find a place to eat coming back from some Upcountry sightseeing, and so when we saw Denny's we decided to stop cuz, well, at least it was familiar and we'd know what we were getting. Wrong! Why? because it was BETTER than any other Denny's I'd ever been to. I got the veggie burger and fries and there was fresh (yes, FRESH) spinach piled on the bun, fresh REAL mushrooms, and an amazingly delicious, seemingly homemade, veggie patty! WOW, right? It's Denny's! Who knew? Not to mention it was a comfy quiet place to sit and enjoy some food and go through our Maui books, etc. - and the staff were so sweet and friendly. Loved it! which I know is weird, but really, it's not easy to get food on the cheap here as we all know, and Denny's is never AMAZING - but this one was! Thanks dudes!

    Placed order right away and We were told up front that they were short handed and it would take awhile. We were very patient, but my food came an hour later and then they came back 10 minutes later to tell my sister they were out of what she had ordered. Seriously! It took them 1hr 10 min to figure that out. Close this place down.

    Update time. ATMOSPHERE: The place is still in good condition. The dining area was clean. FOOD: Philly Cheesesteak Omelette - It's really a cheese omelette topped with steak bits, mushrooms, onions, and red & green bell peppers. The steak pieces were super tender but had a very odd & fake texture to it, though it tasted "normal." I detected some Kraft Singles-like cheese flavor which I didn't care for. The sides of hash browns, which were excellent, and toast were both good. SERVICE: We joined up with a large group for breakfast half way through their meal so I can't comment on the greeting. Our female server was friendly, professional, and checked up on us frequently. OVERALL: Good food, prices a lot lower than IHOP, good service. Good job Denny's Kahului!

    4 of us stopped in for breakfast after the Halelakela trip. Service was slow but a really nice server. The bathrooms were a disaster. The place just stunk. I had the moon over my hammy breakfast sandwich and it had no flavor. Very bland. Nice server keeps it from a one star.

    As we were seated the host scraped off something sticky on our table with one of the table settings. He then handed is sticky menus. Been sitting here for 15 minutes. We were given water and ordered water. The staff is disengaged with customers and are more concerned about talking with each other. Addressed our concerns with the manager and his response was poor...looked like a deer in headlights. At the time of this review there were 8 front of house staff and 12 tables. Whoever oversees this place needs to take Customers Service 101.

    So we waited ten minutes and I immediately noticed that the waitress took her sweet time then we sat for 8 minutes to get our half flat sodas then about 25 minutes of waiting and we received cold fries and we could tell are food must of been sitting for over 5 minutes so poor service poor food

    I've never been in any Denny's, that when you are seated the servers actually look away from you hoping you do not want to order. After 15 mins I finally had to ask for someone to come to our table to take our order. Service is horrible and almost comical. The table next to us was given the wrong food and asked for their food and the waitress told them to try what she brought them they may like it. Wth?!?!?

    The worst place on maui.... I pulled up at 5am and the sever was outside and told me its gonna be a 30 to 60 minute wait because the owner said they need to take there breaks..... whit out saying anything I got back in my car and left. No standard of customer service what so ever.

    I read the reviews before coming here, and they are all true: this is THE worst Denny's ever! First of all, the restaurant was out of white rice. Now how the heck can you be out of white rice for dinner in Hawaii?! Then the food takes forever. It took nearly half an hour for a tossed green salad to be brought to our table. Does it really take that long to put raw lettuce and tomato in a bowl?! The person who ordered the salad said the lettuce was probably still being grown. LOL To top it off, we didn't get not one, but THREE of the items we ordered, including toast, French fries, and a strawberry banana smoothie. We didn't even bother reminding the waitress because we were almost done with the rest of our meals. Yup, of course I didn't tip.

    Since my last review, we've been here several times, and each time, we were greatly disappointed. THE SERVICE HERE SUCKS!!! SUCKS BAD!!! At least they're consistent with their crappy service! Have to give them props on that! The food is still average Denny's fare, which would be 3 stars, but because of the consistently bad, crappy, slow, terrible service, we will definitely not go back to this location! Even when there is only one or two other small tables to be serviced, it seems the servers go out of their way to ignore the customers. From trying not to make eye contact to walking through the service aisle instead of the dining room, the servers here definitely do not earn or deserve a gratuity. DO NOT FEEL OBLIGATED TO LEAVE A TIP, since they obviously don't feel obligated to provide basic services! This place needs a complete overhaul of their servers, as even the ones I praised before stopped giving a shit about the customers. I really feel bad for the cooks, who consistently deliver the food on time, but it's when you see your food sitting in the window between 5 to 10 minutes, at least, and see your server talking story with the other servers or prepping so they can leave on time, makes you wonder where their priorities lie. Seems to me they're more worried about their hourly wage than their tips. So, again, DO NOT FEEL OBLIGATED TO LEAVE A TIP, especially for the consistently shitty service! If I could tip out the cooks, I'd feel better about leaving this disaster of a restaurant, since I would definitely stiff the wait staff! Kind of sad, since they make a mean fried rice loco moco, but when you see your meal sitting under the heat lamp for what seems like days and you are starving and have licked your water glass dry, or have not even received your water even after ordering, THAT SUCKS!!! So, as with all the other 1 star reviews, trust me on this...DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR YOUR TIME! Unless you're into receiving the absolute worse service in the world, this place is THE worst place to dine. And that's saying a lot!     The food was actually not bad. But the service was really bad. We arrived at 11:30, right before lunch and there was only 8 people in the resturant. Bad sign. Still, our drinks took a real time to come out. Oh, and that's after waiting for 5 minutes for a waiter to get to our table. I hope that the owner reads these posts and gets his waiters straightened out otherwise he'll keep on losing business. I know I ain't coming back.

    I wish Yelp would alow me to pick "0" or -1 Stars because this Denny's near the airport (Kahului) is just the worst, and my despicable experience was quite similar to most of the reviews for this "restaurant." I grew up traveling and I've been to Denny's establishments all over the nation. This was by far a major fall from quality...I think that says a lot for this chain...so Future Customers...take warning. It will be like Russian roulette trying to get "SERVICE" out of this joint. We walk in, receive no greeting from the hostess as she's on her cell phone and doesn't bother to look up, just points a finger behind her and says seat yourself (Hahahahaha...should've known at that point). But we were starving having just returned from a 10 hour Road to Hana adventure and thought we could always count on good 'ol Denny's to fill our bellys. WRONG So we sit at a table then I notice the the carpet below is just littered with bits of food...gross, but I say nothing hoping that we can just get some service, eat a hot meal, and go. But that is asking tooooo MUCH from this place. Our waiter was hanging out by the kitchen..just standing there for several minutes staring at who knows what. He had a wormy face, and that was more off putting then the pile of food bits on the carpet around the table. Since the waiter was just standing there and we had been waiting without service for several minutes my fiance went up to ask if we could put an order in. The worm faced waiter was extremely rude and said we'd just have to wait til he came to us. That's when we finally got up and walked out. Our exit was made a little more colorful by my fiance but I will not go into detail on that. Never done it before, but looks like the Better Business Bureau needs to be contacted on this one. It's a major waste of people's time and money; this place is unacceptable and doesn't deserve to exist.

    After my party was seated, the waiter came to get our drinks. Ooh, that was fast! Husband ordered a glass of oj for me. 5 min go by...no oj. The waiter comes back to actually get our order. We ask for the oj again. 5 min pass again. Still no oj. Seriously? This time my husband has to flag down the waiter to ask for the oj yet again. FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY it comes. Just to let you know, there are only 4 other tables besides us with 2 servers. I think that's plenty of time to get some oj, don't you think? When I ordered my French toast combo, the waiter asked if I wanted cheese on my eggs. I looked at him in the eyes and said, "No cheese." You can guess what I found on my eggs when my food came. Also, they charged me for the cheese so we had to dispute it. The only good thing is...it tastes like Denny's.

    I didn't pay too much attention to the reviews figuring how bad can it be its just a Denny's but how wrong I was. Took 20 minutes to take the order and only after we went and found a waitress on our own. The the order came back completely wrong and after three tries to correct it I gave up. A waste of time and money. And they overcharged me for one of the items saying the deal was not valid on sundays (I was there on a Monday).

    So, I figured I'd give Dennys here another chance since the one in Buena Park was so good. Nope! It all started when we walked in and the lady at the cash register completely ignored us and pretended she was busy, even though the restaurant was pretty empty. Soon a man I assume to be the host, slowly walked over and asked how many we had with us. He seated us, gave us menus, and walked away. Without taking a drink order, like they usually do in most restaurants. After about 10 minutes, he returned to our table and took the drink order. Our actual server than dropped by after another 5 minutes or so to take our orders for food. And, when it arrived (pretty quickly), it was decent. I had the chicken fried steak and eggs. Good, but the gravy looked like it was made of marshmallows it was so thick. The prime rib melt was tasty as well. It just didn't seem like they wanted us there and it felt awkward. Would not go back, even if someone else was paying.

    The worst service EVER!! We were already seated for 10 mins and the table behind me sat down. Not even a couple mins later, they were having their order taken. Then, the waitresses were at the back counter talking about what tables they had, then noticed that I was tapping my fingers on the table, looking around, waiting for someone/anyone to come to the table. A waitress finally came & I explained to her that the people behind me just sat down and had their order already taken. She said, "I'm sorry, but we all have 10 tables each..." SERIOUSLY?!     Well, the service was so bad we weren't even sat. Left after 10 minutes of standing there with ZERO acknowledgement. This on a weekday! In fact, many people were waiting with zero acknowledgement. The bathroom reminded me of a truck stop bathroom. The whole place had a dank/dingy feel. After a party of 6 walked in, we left. I felt like if it was bad just to be sat, it was going to be bad sitting.

    Our family (kids 12 and 7) ate in all the surrounding restaurants while on holiday and this is our favorite! Great service, big portions and the right price. Everyone is helpful and Renee a fantastic server. We found out most reviews are old before the new management. See you soon!

    Ugh! Where do I even begin. I walked in there with a couple of my friends and it was about 9:00 at night. We waited at the door for about 20 min. We got a little impatient because nobody was assisting us or even giving us the time of day. So we sat ourselves. We then waited at the table for about 10 min. I got upset so I went to one of the waiters I saw and asked him for a couple glasses of water. He looked sweaty and I could tell he was frustrated. He then yelled at me and told me that he was doing the best he can and if I wasn't going to be patient, I need to leave and get out of the restaurant!! He was an older looking guy. Can't remember exactly how he looked because I was so DISGUSTED with the way he talked to me! He should be fired immediately!!! Ugh so gross.

    Worst Dennys ever! We visited this Denny's with a party of 7, on a slow weekday night. The occupancy was less than half. We waited almost 45 min for our food after time of ordering and when we finally got our food all of our orders had something wrong with them. We ordered tropical pancake puppies and the cook/waitress forgot to make them. We kept asking for them for over an hour and we FINALLY got them after we were all done eating and while we were paying. Who gets food while they are paying!? We decided to look in the box and to our astonishment they were burnt and the original kind, not the tropical kind we asked for many many times. Eventually gave up and threw them away and got a refund for them. I ordered the cinnamon roll pancakes and in between my pancakes there was burnt crunchy cheese and burnt sausage pieces. One of us ordered a club sandwich with regular fries and when the food came she got a dry club sandwich with no mayo in it and seasoned fries, which they charged extra for even though she specifically asked for regular fries. Another person ordered the peanut butter pancakes and it was missing the chocolate chips and the white chocolate chips in the batter. One of us ordered the nachos which are supposed to come with pico de gallo, they didn't. When we asked for the pico de gallo the waitress had no idea what we were talking about and brought out salsa instead. No refills on strawberry lemonade the whole time we were there. The waitress gave us the wrong tea cups back after she refilled and after we drank from the wrong ones she wanted us to "just switch". The staff were all arguing with each other the whole time. To top it all off, several groups who came in after us got up and walked out because service was insanely slow. Horrible experience never going back. When reading these reviews trust them, this Dennys is unlike any other, in a bad way.

    Worst service ever! The hostess guy seems really sassy and rude. Was not comfortable to talk to at all! Then after he seated me and my boyfriend our waitress came and asked if we wanted to drink. Then after 10-15mins she came back and took our order. After another 15-20mins she came out with the wrong order it was the people sitting next to us. Then she can out I got the ultimate omelet with white toast and a side of pancakes she just brought out the omelette and WHEAT toast so I told her I ordered white. So she said she was going to get it and never returned till we were finished eating. Then she ask how was everything and I said I still never got my pancakes and WHITE toast and she tries to give me attitude and says can I get it for you now and I said yah I guess. She came out with it and the pancakes tasted like crap! I think her name was rosa or something close to that! But it was really bad service we are never returning again! Go to ihop! Much better service !

    Food was good as in other Denny's. We did not wait too much to sit, nor to order, nor to receive food. The waitress was really taking care of us even if she was alone in the room (+ one guy bringing food to the tables). There is a big parking around the restaurant. We used a discount coupon, easy to find them in almost every Maui promotional booklet.

    As expected - nothing great here. I did enjoy the Eggs in a Basket though which is a new entree for breakfast. Waitress screwed up our bill - thank god the wife caught it. cashier screwed up too. Bring low expectations and you won't be disappointed. Same as usual Denny's fare.

    Like many other Denny's, rather understaffed for how busy it was at breakfast. Though overworked, our waitress was friendly and kept my coffee cup filled. Food is typical Denny's. We ordered breakfast, which is Denny's strong point. The Mrs. Tried the red-white-blue pancake breakfast special. These specials always give an awful lot of food - would have been a couple of dollars more if they had been on the regular menu. Blueberry pancakes with whipped cream and strawberry on top were good and not as sweet as similar offerings at IHOP. Eggs were cooked as ordered and hash browns and bacon were nicely browned. I ordered french toast, which was done just right - definitely had the egg batter but not so much that the bread became soggy. As a bonus, coupon in tourist publication (this location only) gave us 1/2 off one breakfast.

    Stopped here for breakfast before flying out back to the mainland and we enjoyed it. Our server Marie was very friendly and efficient, before I could as for a refill on my coffee she was there to refill my cup. She had a great attitude despite it being g busy on Thanksgiving Day and fairly busy. The MOD, Jake, was great. He walked the the floor talking and joking with all the customers. The Dennys around where I live, you have to ask for refills and what not. So this was a nice change. The food was good and after spending a small fortune on food during our vacation, it was a good relief on the budget for a meal for 4. Mahalo

    We came in for dinner on a Sunday night. They run out of utensils, so we got plastic ones. I ordered a healthy burger that goes with vegetables, they run out of carrots and celery too! My husband's omelette was Ok, the hash browns that went with it was cold. Overall, it was not a pleasant experience! Couldn't wait to get out of there! Prior to this, we went there for breakfast but we walked out because we were sitting there for about 10 minutes, but no one has approached us and we were in a hurry.

    Just wasted 40 minutes and not even a greeting. Waited about 15 minutes in line to be seated, while a lady seemed to be training the cashier. No greeting or acknowledgement. Finally seated and wait another ten minutes with no water or hello from anyone. The cashier comes over takes our order and disappears for the next 25 minutes. No silverware, drinks or anything from anyone. This place was not busy and appeared we'll staffed. We walked out and went to IHOP. We thought we'd give them a try, but will stick with IHOP where they know what a greeting is.

    I am sitting at this Denny's right now while writing this review. After a long flight, we thought it would be good to eat something before driving to our final destination. I am already regretting it and based on other reviewers I should have expected it. The waiter is polite but service is really poor. He brought the coffee I ordered but did not bring any cream for 20 mins when my wife asked him by calling out. Still no sign of food yet!

    HORRIBLE service. My very first time walking out of a restaurant in my 38 years. Waited a good 15 minutes for order to even be taken, (longer just to get water), then after an hour and ten minutes, couldn't wait any longer for food (they said it would be another ten minutes, and the place was about a quarter full. The other people we were meeting there said it was a good thing we never got our food because it was horrible and expensive. My niece took one bite of her nachos - they were "disgusting". I'm sorry this gives Denny's a bad name - we just went to one north of Seattle that had great food and service!

    Dennys and their average American food. Don't expect much even though they keep rolling out new specials. They had a cheesy menu (no pun intended) and had cheese on everything. It was aweful and the smoked chedder sausage was the size of he cheapest hot dogs you find in your supermarket. I also ordered a side of Mac & Cheese. It was made with a creamy white cheese and shells. It came to me room tempture to cold in the middle. The cheese was runny like water and it had a taste of water, as if it was not properly drained after being boiled. I simply can't find myself return to this dennys until they get their act together. Also noted their waffle maker was down for the second time I came here in a span of a few months in between. Come on Dennys, you should be a little better.

    DEFINITELY NOT AGAIN: BEFORE: We went for a typical Sunday breakfast. When we walked in we were motioned to follow this waitress to our table. She didn't see the third person in our party so she seated us for two. When we asked for a booth, her body language and tone in her voice was one of disgust and stated that we need to go back and sit down in the front until one was available- not a problem. About 10 minutes later we were seated in a booth and instead of apologizing in advance for the heated restaurant, the hostess simply said, "oh yeah- our A/C is broken- that's why we wanted to sit you at a table in the front". We then waited another 15 minutes for our waitress to acknowledge us and take our order. My husband ordered milk and our server said they were out, yet a another gentleman was served a tall glass shortly after we completed our order. How are you out of milk? Who does your ordering? DURING: Our food was served 25 minutes after we placed our order despite the fact the restaurant had a total of 8 tables all except for 1 had their food. The temperature was "warm" and not hot, the eggs were overcooked even to the point where they were covered with "brown spots" aka burn spots. My daughter's order needed to get sent back twice because they did include 2 items on the build your own pancakes and even stated they ran out of hot fudge. Once again, who does your ordering? AFTER: When cashing out, the hostess proceeded to answer the phone while grossly mispronouncing KA-HU-LUI Denny's not KA-WA-LUE Denny's. She didn't ask how experience was or even thank us for waiting while she took the call. She just took our money. Server was very gracious given the circumstances but not the best Denny's experience AT ALL. I will never come back to this Denny's again.

    Food so far is really bad. Nachos had no meat. No refills on our soft drinks. I won first place for the worst plate at our table. With that being said the manager came by and fixed everything and made everything better. When you go with 14 ppl it makes it hard to get everything perfect.

    worst Denny's ever. link sausage tasted old, eggs must've been cooked on a charcoal grill cuz there was black stuff all in it (I thought it was pepper but when I flipped it over there was a huge chunk of black), the hash brown was burnt on the outside but the inside was all mushy.

    After being seated I waited about 15 minutes or so to be asked about my order. I was not brought nor offered any drink until after my order was placed. I ordered off of the "Baconalia" menu a simple order of peppered bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns and and English muffin. 30 minutes later I was still waiting for my food. Luckily my water did finally show up. I was told once in that half hour that my food would be ready shortly. 20 minutes into my wait I heard my waitress explaining to the cook what my order was...remember I ordered off of the Baconalia menu. When it did finally arrive I was given regular bacon and not the special peppered bacon that was unique to this menu item. When I mentioned all of this to the cashier at the front, no discount was offered and they don't give Kama aina. Lucky for me it was my day off so I was not in a rush but the service was just terrible. I also mentioned to the cashier about their poor reviews on Yelp. They just don't get it here nor will they likely get my business again. I still left a $3 tip on my $10 order as poor waitress has to deal with this poorly managed employer which is not her fault.

    Worst customer service on this island! Waited 25 mins just for water but never got it, in fact we never saw our waitress/waiter. We walked out! I spoke to the manager who was apologetic and even offered to be our waitress but it was too late, my family was already getting into the car! The franchise owner called me within an hour after I emailed him so that was a plus. We went across the street to Marcos, arrived there at 10:50am and left at 11:30..we were greeted right away, got our drinks within 3 minutes of us being seated, ordered our food, ate and our bill was under $40..now thats customer service!

    Went here at 6am. Only two other customers there at a table. A guy and a girl who have been partying all night. Loud as hell! Girl had a hyena laugh. So what does our idiot of a host do, sit us right next to them. And the service was awfully slow! Not even taking into consideration IT WAS JUST US in the restaurant. Never going back again.

    If I could id give no stars. We had 6 ppl and only 2 other tables. Started out fine but then the food came one by one for 4 ppl. Then it stopped leaving 2 ppl without. Soup was cold. Fries were overdone and old and cold. Then our 2 leftover ppls food sat on the warmer for 10 mind min when I noticed them and we waited for our waitress to give it to us as she was on the phone. The other waitress saw and walked away. We asked her to serve us the did and we were trying to eat and get in our flight. She was looking awkward and waited by the food to ask our server if it was our food bc u know there were so many ppl in there. She finally brings the food over. My eggs over my hammy are child. Like out of the fridge child and is my favorite sandwhich. My husband's pancakes were thick in the gross way and crusty on the outside and mushy in the inside. Overall id rather spend 8 bucks in the airport burgerking than this.

    Worst place ever!!!! Two people in the whole place took ten minutes to sit. Nasty, dirty and looks like they never clean the place trash under, around and on my table. Dead roaches in the bathroom and wait there is more looked at the kitchen when the door open and nastiness on the ground. I had to leave because I was grossed out!!!!!!!!!!!

    I would give this Denny's a BIG FAT 0 but I don't have that option. This is the worst Denny's ever. We order some of the popular items on the menu but the waitress kept saying "oh we're out of that and that and that". Like really they should shut down the place if your out of food. One couple was sitting across of us waited a very long time for their food. The wife end up leaving. Then the manager was complaining that she left without paying for her food. They even try to call the cops on the husband. Umm excuse me her food never even arrived yet at her table. Don't you think that there is a reason why she left. Because your service suck! I would never ever recommend anyone to go here.

    We stopped here after landing in Maui, hoping to find a decent place that was familiar because we were tired (and one of our group was not feeling well). Wished we had searched harder for something different. Coming into the restaurant, it is a typical Denny's. A bit run-down, the same kind of service people (how does that happen world-wide?), and the typical menu items. I will say we were disappointed that we could not use The Hobbit menu - for some reason they didn't have it available, despite the advertising of it all over the restaurant. It wasn't a good start. The waitress seemed quite clueless, and proved it throughout the meal. She didn't know the menu well, didn't seem all there when taking our order, and did not come back to our table often enough to re-fill coffee, etc. The food was a bit below average, even for a Denny's. It was slow coming out, and one of the meals was lukewarm as well. Listen, you're on vacation (most likely) right? Find a local spot (like Da Kitchen Cafe nearby), and you'll be much happier. Sometimes the 'safe choice' is not the best choice!

    This Denny's is pretty terrible. We stopped here on our way to the airport and I would definitely recommend you stop elsewhere! The waits to be seated and to get the food were long even though the restaurant was relatively empty. They were out of many items on the menu and the food came nothing like the decription or pictures. The salad for instance came with regular tomatoes instead of grape tomatoes, they were out of the breaded chicken, and the dinner roll on the side was actually a piece of garlic bread. The grilled chicken tasted unusual as well. What's worse though was the hair in my lettuce. On the positive side, our waitress was nice.

    Empty parking lot, empty restaurant. Now I know why. We had planned to go to IHOP initially, but after seeing that line, we decided to go to Denny's instead. On a Sunday morning, I noticed only three waitstaff for the entire restaurant. Food took nearly 20 minutes to the table and no one to refill ur coffee either. I'd rather spend my money elsewhere.

    We have eaten here numerous times over the years and the service seems to be getting slower each time. Yesterday we came in for breakfast and sat for 15 min after being seated before even being offered water. The gentleman manager was abrupt and rude. His comment as waking up to leave was "Next time try McDonalds not a restaurant if you want quick service.". Not typical for a Denny's. We will never eat there again. Try Marco's across the street. Much better service and friendly service.

    This place sucked! We got to the restaurant at 9:30pm with only 4 tables filled. It wasn't busy yet it took awhile for the waiters to bring us to our seats. As we got seated, we weren't greeted nor did the servers ask us what we wanted to drink. We finally ordered our food around 10:20 and didn't get our food until nearly 11:15! It seemed to me like they were understaffed - however, on a Friday night, they should be prepared for a good sized rush. As we got our food, the server did not apologize for the long wait. The servers didn't even check up on us for refills or anything.. so we were pretty much thirsty by the end of the night! As for the food, it seemed like our food was left out for awhile. When my boyfriend and his friend got their fried rice loco moco, it seemed cold and the gravy already hardened! How disgusting! As we left, the waiter/server (MICHAEL L.) checked us out and seemed like he was completely rushing us. He didn't even know how to split our check so that our party could pay separately. When asked if he could do so, he quietly whispered, "Sh*t! F*ck!" as he got frustrated. What kind of customer service is that? Not only did we have to wait a long time for our food, but we were not apologized to or anything. Also, he swore in front of us showing his frustration! Denny's Kahului is very unprofessional, slow, and somewhere I wouldn't wish to go to anymore. If you wanna eat, I'd prefer going else where because the service here SUCKS!

    This is the worst Denny's we've ever been to! I wish I had "yelped" this location before we went for breakfast. The staff is very unfriendly and they ignore you when you walk in. Rosie, our server, was the only server actually working. All the other servers were out hiding, smoking in the parking lot. She was so busy and had no help, that our food was slow and we were missing items. Hot & stuffy inside. No A/C, so the doors were all propped open and flies were everywhere. Avoid this place at all cost!

    I am giving one star because the lights are on, the room is pleasant (overlooking an auto dealership) and it has air conditioning. BUT, we dropped by at 2:30 in the afternoon. There were eight customers and six staff present. We had to find our own menus (glossy with vivid pictures) and seats. A waiter drifted by after a time and asked what we wanted. We asked for help deconstructing the menu. I asked about their version of a tuna melt or grilled cheese sandwich. "We don't have that - no tuna." "How about a vegeburger?" He browsed the menu also. "Well, you can get any burger listed and ask for vege instead of meat." "Okay, I'll have a cheeseburger but with vege instead of meat and a glass of non-fat milk." "No. We have sodas and juices or coffee or tea." "Okay, coffee then." My husband ordered a slurpy. 5 minutes passed. Water came. 5 minutes more, coffee came. 5 minutes more, the slurpy came. 5 minutes more nothing except the sounds of happy conversation between waiter and kitchen staff. 5 minutes more I stand and look toward the kitchen and waiter with my hands palm up in the air saying a silent "What?" There is my burger and another persons order waiting to be picked up. The waiter tells me that I'm in Hawaii and I should "Go with the flow. When in Rome, you know." I notice no heat lamp on the pick up table. The burger arrives with a room temperature burger and no fries. "They'll be here in a minute." Turns out they were having some kind of electrical problem. The cheese never made it to the burger, the fries never made it to the table - but at the cash register ($15) I was asked it I wanted the fries to go. P.S. 5 minutes after leaving I realize that the vege burger was probably a frozen patty that was thawed and not cooked. Not acceptable.

    the service is really bad. when we got there it took them a long time just to come to us to ask what we wanted to drink. when we ordered the drinks, it took a while for them to bring it to us and they forgot one person's drink, and screwed up on another person's drink order. and after we ordered our food they gave my friend the wrong order so they had to send it back. and i'm pretty sure everyone who ate at denny's before knows how long it takes for them to cook/serve you the food. well my breakfast was suppose to come with pancakes and guess what, i didn't get any. and all of us ordered drinks and not once did they ask us for a refill when our cups was empty. my friend had to ask for a refill and they took forever to give him his drink but they didn't ask any of us if we wanted one too. so if you're around that area, do not eat here. the restaurant looked old, the staff isn't trained, the food came out warmish, and service just sucked. and the menus were old, like a year or two ago.

    "Poor service, cold food, and outdated." I just went to Denny's on a Sunday morning to grab some breakfast with my family. The restaurant looks like they haven't updated the decor since 1975. When I went inside, there was no one else waiting to get seated, however, I waited for five minutes while two waitresses/ hostesses tried to figure out the computer system while talking story about their family. After staring at them while they talked, they finally seated me in the back. The restaurant was fairly busy, e.g. most of the tables were full, however, they had at least one waiter for every 5 or 6 tables working. Our waitress was the "Floor Supervisor,' however you wouldn't know it because I didnt see her for ten minutes, not even to get water or coffee. I finally had to wave another waiter down from another section to grab my waters. I should of realized something was up when I saw another guy pick up his drinks from the table and walk to the bar to get them refilled. She came finally, and without even an aloha, asked us "Waddya having?" I told her I would like some coffee and orange juice first, since thats what I usually like to do when I go on a sunday morning for breakfast, but I would go ahead an order because it seems like you're pretty busy. She didn't get the point, instead told me "good, what do you want then." I ordered my food, and waited another half hour for it to arrive. It wasn't the kitchen's fault, because I saw it sit on the counter under the warmer for ten minutes. The Floor Supervisor woudln't even come out of the kitchen so that I could ask her to get it for us, I have no idea what she was doing. At one point I saw her go to the bathroom, and not come out until ten minutes later, still wiping her hands. I really don't want to know what when on in there. Our food got to our table lukewarm. She didnt refill our waters our or coffee, instead ran away and ignored us every time she walked by again, literally looking away so she couldn't hear us. Meanwhile, three trainees stood around at the bar area, doing nothing. Not a very good Floor Supervisor. On the way out, I asked the hostess if they were shorthanded. She responded, "No, its just Sunday and its really busy." Sunday at a Dennys? Isn't that what this restaurant DOES? I gave the Floor Supervisor a 5% tip, only because I felt bad for the bus boy, who was doing a great job clearing off the tables.

    Ok, I know it's "Denny's" but still, this is a good one! My husband and I are visiting from Portland, OR., and couldn't find a place to eat coming back from some Upcountry sightseeing, and so when we saw Denny's we decided to stop cuz, well, at least it was familiar and we'd know what we were getting. Wrong! Why? because it was BETTER than any other Denny's I'd ever been to. I got the veggie burger and fries and there was fresh (yes, FRESH) spinach piled on the bun, fresh REAL mushrooms, and an amazingly delicious, seemingly homemade, veggie patty! WOW, right? It's Denny's! Who knew? Not to mention it was a comfy quiet place to sit and enjoy some food and go through our Maui books, etc. - and the staff were so sweet and friendly. Loved it! which I know is weird, but really, it's not easy to get food on the cheap here as we all know, and Denny's is never AMAZING - but this one was! Thanks dudes!

    If there were 0 stars for this denny's location I would have given that. Its the "WORST" denny's I ever went to. First, when we arrived the restaurant was all empty which I never experienced especially with any denny's location, then I ordered coffee, so the problems start... At first coffee came in dirty mugs, I asked the waitress to replace that, after 5 mins she comes with another coffee which to my surprise is again in dirty mug, so here I'm looking for her to give me creamer and also waiting for her to ask for replacement of this mug. After 10 mins she comes with our order and I tell her that coffee mug is dirty, to that without apologizing she says all our mugs are like that, so I got pissed off and told her to give me plain water. Me and my wife are both vegetarians, my wife ordered "Loaded Veggie Omelet" and to our surprise it's coming with bacon strips, she said that it pops in our system that bacon strips go with that. It's heights, we are from California and going to denny's is regular breakfast regime for us, we never ever got bacon strips with this dish but she was so adamant that it always comes with bacon strips. Since these guys were not even apologizing for their mistakes, we both left without taking any sip or bite of any food or drink. Will definitely recommend to stay away from this denny's location. Also, the staff is horrible they just keep avoiding eye contact. Hope, denny's as a chain looks to these reviews coz locations like these are spoiling their reputation and goodwill.

    Loco moco is 5 scoops rice and one tiny hamburger patty. The molten lava cake with hot chocolate in the middle DID NOT HAVE ANY CHOCOLATE and we were still required to pay for a dry cake that we didn't order since we ordered it filled with hot chocolate! They are not good for groups of people because they are unable to split a bill down the middle. Took 5 minutes since they have to figure out who ate what and make separate tickets. Definitely the first and last time we will be eating here!
