The last four or five times I've been to this location I've had horrible service either food takes an hour to come out or its cold when it get to the table or its not what we ordered and the manager wade himself said that it was the kitchen staffs fault that he's working on the issue will not be going here again

This place once again gets a solid 3 star. It actually could have been much worse if it hadn't been for our super friendly and enthusiastic waiter, Justin. Kudos for showing customers that you love your job. The thing that made this round to be a 3 star experience again (but had the potential to be a 4 star experience) was how agonizingly long the food took. I've been here before, and the wait wasn't that bad even when there was an additional 2 or 3 people ordering... It could have been the steak that my friend ordered, but the wait was just looong. Justin had to even swing by to ensure that our food was indeed coming out. The ribs last time didn't take quite as long to cook; it just seemed like with the empty tables around us, the food should have came out quicker. The other, ahem, unique moment that was a lost star opportunity was how our appetizer came as is. There were no additional plates that came with it. At one point, my friends just used their napkins as plates. Ghetto... But we couldn't locate the server so we just dug in and improvised (or they did at least)... If I return, I will definitely take your suggestion and ask to be seated where you are serving Justin. :) Although you forgot to bring out the extra plates with our appetizer, you didn't forget my extra plate as I took samples from my friends' meals. lol. Over, you were great Justin.

We ate there for the second time this afternoon. I love the dark atmosphere. It's very relaxing. The wait staff is very friendly. Both times I ordered the steak and ribs combo. The steak was very tender and juicy, and the rib meat fell off the bone. My husband ordered ribs and chicken tender combo. The chicken tenders are huge! These combo platters are definitely worth the money. My favorite sides are the broccoli cheddar casserole, Mac n cheese, mashed potatoes. I highly recommend this restaurant. It is worth every penny!

I took my parents here for cocktails and dinner. The waitresses we had were super sweet! Kesha was on her third day and did wonderful! A second waitress helped us pick out our drinks, and she was right on the mark. I had a Maui margarita with a shot of cactus juice. It was delicious. The portion sizes are huge for the price! My mom had a problem with her steak however. It had some sort of chemical taste, like it was being kept warm with butane. Our waitress helped out right away and told her manager, but the manager didn't show up until my father and I had already finished eating. He was a bit rude and accusatory. The steak was replaced with the baja chicken, but with attitude.

Great prices for the amount of food you get. I love their pot pie. It's always good. Ribs, wow you get alot for a full order. My husband likes their lunch portion of the salmon entree. We've tried their country fried steak, although a very large portion, the breading is, um, just okay. The chicken fingers and onion rings appear to be a real crowd pleaser as many servers were seen walking by and serving these dishes to various customers throughout the restaurant. Good place to go, super busy on weekends.

Love the environment. The food is always on point and haven't had a bad waiter yet. The painkiller is a must have, but have a DD ha.

Our server was top notch. The food was pretty good and came out super fast. The drinks are super cheap. The place does remind me of traditional eatery. Chili's, Texas Road House etc etc. The decor inside is upgraded. Overall, not bad at all!

Having never eaten at a Cheddar's before I was not sure what to expect. However I was not disappointed. The food was amazing. We had the following: Mile high onion rings for just $4 (delicious), ribs and steak dinner (ribs were fall off the bone and super tasty), even the kids enjoyed their food immensley. I wish there was one close to where we live, as I would frequent it often! Go and be amazed!

The food is decent and they have something for everyone. When I've come here I usually start with the spinach dip and work my way toward the Montecristo-anything fried with powdered sugar is great! This meal has never let me down. Something to note is that the price is great for the amount of food you get. Plates are pretty big! Service, like anywhere can be hit or miss.. However, I'm big in to cleanliness and I do admit I get grossed out easily but my dining experience (be it Canoe or McDonald's) goes south really quick if tables are sticky, silverware has food baked on to it etc... This place hasn't been very clean.. The hallway you have to take to get to most tables had napkins on the floor and was sticky. They sat us in a table that was right beside this hallway and the booth had particles of food on it. I nearly slipped sitting down in it because there was also something spilled beneath the table along with more food. The people in the booth beside us left within minutes of us sitting and that table sat full of dirty plates and food and napkins on the floor the entire time we were there (1hr10min) Oh and so did the napkins on the main hallway where customers have to go through and so do employees who just ignored it. *Saturday 9pm* Our waitress was nice but the poor thing was either sick or had allergies because she kept sneezing....On previous occasions we've had the ac or something leak on us, flys flying around and sometimes it just feels muggy.. It will probably be a while before I come back here :(

Food is amazing, service is too, I visit you guys really often but was asking myself if I could place an order to pick up, so I did it. I just called and try to place it but the guy who answer just hung up on me. By this time I dont even know if you dont offer this service

As with any restaurant service will depend on the employees. The food quality however should remain a constant good or better standard levels. Cheddars in Gainesville GA matches great food quality with reasonable prices, something a lot of other food establishments need to take notes on. Luckily I live less than a quarter mile from this Cheddars and frequent often. Also my family has a running joke that there is always a line out the door at Cheddars. If that doesn't say a lot about this Cheddars' food and service being constantly good I don't know what does. I recommend patence during busy rush hours and you will be rewarded with great quality food in extra large portions at a good price.

First time here. Good food and great drinks that are inexpensive. Will definitely try again for lunch! Waitstaff very nice.

This Cheddar's was OK. The one is Alcoa/Murvill is probably my favorite. This one just left me wondering... The hostess just took us to our table the server just brought food. Are they not happy with their job? The food didn't even seem the same. Maybe it was just me. I doubt that.

I don't know what has happened to our "Cheddar's" but it's not the same anymore. We go there about once a week or so, and last week my chicken fingers were raw inside. Also, they seem to be in a state of panic, with most of the servers almost running all over each other to get where they were going. I think they have down-sized the staff and oh-by-the-way - those wonderful, delicious chicken fingers - they're gone. Replaced by random chicken parts things that make Chick-fil-A chicken seem gourmet. I don't think we'll be back to this Cheddar's location anytime soon. Such a shame b/c until last week the food was great and of course the prices are reasonable - but raw chicken? No thank you. BTW - the photo here of the chicken is the "old" really good chicken, not the new stuff. Even after they brought me a second plate of it ( this time cooked ) it was sub par.

We finally came back again and the food here is still so great. Definitely worth the long drive. The manager Dave is very nice and makes sure you are taken care of. Their cheese curd bites are too addictive! The marinara that goes along with them is also delicious. Thank you, Cheddars!

Great food, prices, and service. My only complaint is they are always busy! But well worth the wait. I highly recommend.

My first visit. Very nice eating area with a large aquarium, and fancy overhead bamboo paddle fans. Our server was prompt and courteous. We ordered the country fried steak, mashed potatoes and green beans, and the grilled Chicken and Shrimp, with a loaded baked potato and fresh steamed broccoli. The food was quickly prepared and served piping hot! Incredibly large portions of everything. The taste was awesome! My wife asked for a Togo box for her steak as it was simply too much for her! The price was very reasonable, and that means we will dine here again.

I have never had such poor service before from this place. Let me start by saying my past visits have been pretty good but this one was absolutely horrible! We just visited this past Saturday at 530pm. We expected some kind of business but not this kind of lack of concern. First we were told that the wait was 5-10 minutes. 20 minutes later we were seated. Ok, so its hard to estimate wait time and I understand that. It was me, my wife, 2 yr old son, and my parents. Our waitress was good when she first came to the table and we ordered an appetizer. It came, we ate and everything went downhill from there. 7 pm came and then 715. At one point the waitress came back about 640p and said our food should be out soon. At 715 she came and said that we came right when things wee getting busy. We had watched others with the same size group come after us and get their food way before us. I asked for the manager. He seemed very nice, we explained the situation and he went to the kitchen and came back. We were told it was just being prepped for the table and would be out in 1 minute. We asked if that was a real minute and he assured us. 6 minutes later the food came out. It was the lunch portion and not the dinner portion we had ordered...(2 pieces of fish for 2 different plates), broccoli casserole instead of sweet potato casserole. They said they would bring the rest and the corrections out to us. The Manager told us the waitress had entered the lunch portions into the computer. The fish was barely cooked and the carrots with my wife's dinner were hard and barely cooked. It looked as though they rushed it out and separated the plates to look like we got what we ordered. Who knows but it was horrible! The Manager then came out and checked up on us and said he would only charge us for the lunch portion for the dinners and give us our appetizers and desserts, if we wanted it for free. We ate, then ordered desserts and waited another 15 minutes for TO GO desserts and to pay. We got out of there by a little after 8pm! over 2 hours later! It was ridiculous!!!

The food here is delicious and a majority of the servers are great. Occasionally I will get one of those servers that just don't care, but my food is still great. I love the chicken pot pie and the combos of meats you can do for your entrée. There drinks are pretty good for a restaurant. Overall great place to enjoy with family and friends.

Have been here three times, and each time, the restaurant has come up lacking. Tried the Spinach dip appetizer ... served with chips rather than bread, and so greasy that we asked for any type of bread instead of the chips ... to which our server said, "How about French Fries?" Wow, news to us, French Fries are now made out of bread! Really? The server was so confused by the request for bread, she sent over the manager ... who got us some warm tortillas ... and while not exactly bread, they worked out ok. Then came the entrees, and we found a hair which appeared to have been cooked right into the dish. It was dark and curly. Tight curly. You know what type hair I mean. Wow. So our food was non-sanitarily prepared by someone who not only didn't wash hands after using the restroom ... they added an ingredient carried from the restroom into the food. Blech! The sad thing, is that these issues happened on visit number two, and we still tried the restaurant again on a third trip ... which also yielded problems and salad greens that needed to be washed. Can anyone say E. Coli? Three tries, three strikes. We are done with this place.

Great food, great drinks but service always depends on who you get and where you are. During my previous visit we sat in the main restaurant. The place was very busy but the waiter still took decent care of us. My most recent visit was at the bar, where I was literally ignored for the bulk of my time there. The bar nor the restaurant was crowded on this day, so for me to have to flag down the TWO bartender girls to order was a bit insulting and ridiculous considering how much I patron this chain. Oh but when it came time to pay the bill then they poured the niceness on. Hmph. If I ever go back I know NOT to go to the bar. I would have come out better being seated and waited on versus being treated like a second class citizen at a partially empty bar.

We have enjoyed Cheddar's for the past few years; however the restaurant hit its' third strike with us today. We understand one or two "bad" experiences but when you get three in a row, you're out and it will be a long time before we visit again. Today, we visited and, to lead with a positive, the food was good, but unfortunately, the service was just plain bad. Our waitress seemed to forget we were there and then would walk by and act surprised to see us. It took over forty minutes to get our food from the time we ordered and she never got out drink order correct nor brought the promised refills. I honestly think she just didn't enter our order, as she stopped by and asked if we were ready to order about 10 minutes after we placed our order. As stated earlier, this is the third poor experience we have had, so it will be a while before we visit again.

Place is great. Great value. Love the onion rings to start. I've tried everything from Ribs to chicken tenders and everything is fresh and tasty. One of my favorite chains.

Heading back through Gainesville, we decided to stop in for a beer and a quick bite. The place was hopping but we were able to find two spots at the bar. Once there, we were able to survey the bar atmosphere...an upscale environment with a nice big bar (with a huge fish tank behind it), several high top tables and a bunch of booths on the perimeter all within eyeshot of the several TVs showing sports. As for the beer selection, there were only three beers on draft (Miller Lite, Yuengling and San Adams Lager) which was somewhat disappointing, but there was a decent selection of bottles which sufficed. My lady and I each ordered a 23 oz draft and after perusing the menu, she decided on the sweet heat chicken and shrimp combo and I the citrus miso salmon with a baked potato. The food came out pretty quickly despite the restaurant being packed so we were pleasantly surprised, but we soon figured out why it arrived so fast...my lady's shrimp, in addition to being quite small were RAW; not undercooked, but raw. Totally unacceptable. Her side salad was doused in dressing and the accompanying ginger rice was half raw/hard and half cooked. Lovely. I asked her if she wanted to send it back, but at that point she said she no longer wanted them anymore. My salmon was decent until I got to the thickest part in the middle at which point it too was raw. Don't get me wrong, I love sushi, but I ordered grilled salmon. At that point we were officially ready to move on from this place. The best part of the entire experience was that my pedestrian 23 oz Miller Lite was $3.00. To sum it all up, if you're down to slug some inexpensive run of the mill brews in a nice environment, you could do worse. For a much better beer selection in a sportier environment, you may just wanna walk across the parking lot and hit Buffalo Wild Wings. Just don't order any food despite being tempted by the low prices...there's obviously a reason for that too.

Good food. Reasonably priced the place is a bit chain-y but good in a pinch. Offers the standard Applebee's eek fair but at a lower cost and to the same standard.

  • Cara H.

I'm a long-time Cheddar's fan, but this one misses the mark. Their dishes do not taste like the other Cheddar's I've been to, and the service is poor. I'm betting it is a management problem, so this may get better with the next manager.

Great casual dining place. Typical menu...good service...pricing decent...food very good...will definitely be going back regularly.

  • Coon M.

They have good food and drinks, and you can't beat the price. If you want a good drink at a great price try the bar. The servers and bartenders are great and fast to serve you.

  • John S.

Been there quite a few times. Good inexpensive food. The service has been great except once and if I see her again I will ask to be moved or leave...she was that bad. I love the Chicken Pasta Salad and the Bacon Cheeseburgers.

  • Nikki I.

Every time I come to this place the service is great and the food is delicious, my favorite is the bacon burger and the French fries are awwwwwwwesome!!! Yum yum yum, only complaint is that I have to drive an 45 mins to get here...please put one in Winder/Bethlehem area! Shout out to Jacque the waitress she is the best! Whoop whoop!!

This was my very time visiting a Cheddar's. I had the beer battered fried chicken, broccoli cheese casserole, and the Texas Cheese Fries as an appetizer. I hate to nit pick over small things. The food was very good. I would like to try something else on the menu next time other than that shrimp. The Broccoli cheese casserole was amazing. The Texas Cheese Fries were great as well. I was not given my 2nd side of coleslaw. Also, we didn't see our server after she brought our drinks. I think she was tied up with another party that was rather huge.

1/18/15... Stopped in with a friend for lunch around 2PM on a Sunday. The place was busy and there was a wait for a table, so we sat at the bar. We both ordered a soup and half sandwich combo. Overall our food was very good and the price was very fair. The problem was the service. I was lucky enough to get a small plate with a large chip in it which I returned immediately for another. Then I decided to try my soup. The spoon was already in it when it was served to me and when I pulled it out it was about the size of a baby spoon. So, then I had to ask for a soup spoon just so I could eat. I felt like someone was pulling a gag on. So now I can eat and the food was better than the presentation so far. But then we watched the lady next to us order her cheese covered fries. That became a cartoon of blunders. The first time her food comes out it is not even melted and they forgot the jalapenos. She sent it back and and they blundered it again. The bartender said the manager was going to make a new order for her and come out to talk to her when done. 5 minutes later someone walked out her plate, sat it on the bar, and walked away. We pointed it out to her and finally the bartender picked it up and gave to her. It looked like a messy pile of fries with cheese on it that had been nuked. We paid our tab and left and wished the lady next to us good luck. I hope she didn't have to pay for her meal. All I can say, if I go back, I will not expect decent service but hopefully at least a decent meal. 2 stars for the food and price, I would have given it 0 stars for service.

The food is great, especially for the price. The only restaurant in Gainesville where you can get a quality dinner for $10 or less. Service is iffy. I have had excellent service there, and also been completely neglected by the staff.

  • Bryan K.

This is the first time I've ever been to this place. I have to say it was probably the best place I've been to in the last 8 years, not including sharky's and bogey's in venice, FL. Service was excellent, food portions were just right and the prices were just right . Certainly will be going there again often.

    (5)
  • Jhon S.

I like the spot but not the bartenders. I usually go to have a couple drinks and that's the only spot they're lacking in. On a Sunday night they have an older woman bar tending and she's not nice at all, very grumpy. Get you some enthusiastic ppl behind the bar and watch sales go up.

Have been to this location many times and usually am quite satisfied but after tonight we will NEVER be back! The food was mediocre, at best, even their usually spectacular onion rings were far greasier than normal. The service was far from what we usually get, our waiter made minimal contact with us, and what we saw from the rest of the waitstaff was APPALLING!!! The hostess apparently knew the table sitting next to us because she kept EATING OFF THEIR PLATES AND DRINKING THEIR DRINKS!! Tell me how that is acceptable?? For all any other observers knew it could have been an alcoholic beverage!!!!! The waiters and waitresses not waiting on guests were leaning all over the hostess station, talking and laughing and having a grand old time. I even saw a waiter SKIPPING through the restaurant and management was NOWHERE TO BE FOUND!! As a former restaurant manager, had this been my shift, several of the waitstaff would been sent home PERMANENTLY!!! I can understand that the weather slowed down business, but if there's time to lean there's time to clean!!!! Overall, I am supremely unimpressed by the childish and lazy appearance of this establishment's waitstaff and the lackluster food and would strongly discourage anyone thinking of trying this place out!

  • Steven R.

Normally when I come here the experience is fairly good but as of late the service has taken a plunge down south. I've been here twice in the past month and I'm struggling to find something nice to say. The peach tea was a tad bit unsweet and the ribs lacked flavor. The waiter seemed to be having a tough time but I understood with all the graduates trying to order at different times. This place isn't bad at all but could use a touch up on service.

  • Jamie R.

-Service was fast, prompt, helpful -Cleanliness was super -Prices were AWSOME! -Portions were huge -The the food was mostly comfort food it was all cooked wonderfully just as we asked -The atmosphere was casual, yet very classy and provided a great place

  • Ashley G.

I ordered the steak and tenders! Steak was great but tenders were pink and smelled like they were freezer burnt. I sent the tenders back and less than 5 minutes later, the tenders were brought back out- still pink. They offered to try again and I declined. Didn't want food poisoning so thought it would be best to not eat any chicken from there...

When you walk up, you think its gonna be on the pricy side. But prices are really good the amount of food you get is crazy. Reallly good food. Really nice staff.I would recommend this place. :)

  • George C.

Ah HA! This visit (as opposed to the earlier one), I am NOT on a liquid diet, so I ordered, and ate, the Chicken Pot Pie. No pot in there (ha!) but it was very satisfying. The hot fudge cake was quickly dispatched by five spoon-wielding eatists, and it was better than I dreamed it could ever be. Same stellar service as previously, and busier than a towel boy at a nudist barbeque festival in July.

Cheddar's Casual cafe of Gainesville is a cheap and good place to eat. Some however may not find it to be cheap, though for the amount of food that has been given to you could possibly make for two meals. Granted Cheddar's doesn't have awesome rolls or biscuits like Red Lobster or Biba's do, however you will quickly realize that the food may be unhealthy but it is really good. However the service could be a little bit faster. The notes is as follows: Customer Service - Excellent Cleanliness - Acceptable Food Taste - Excellent Food temp - Excellent Wait Time - Fair Waiter/ Waitress Timing - Excellent All in all, this is a good place to eat for any small events or just for family.

Carb City. Cheap food and lots of it. Not a big fan. Friendly staff, good parking, looked good. Never works out. Plus, feels like a lead weight in your belly.

Ok Food is fairly priced. You have to get here early, this place was packed by 6pm on Friday. I do not think it is worth waiting more than 20 minutes to eat here however. The food is good but not earth shattering. I had the ribs, which were cooked well and were tender fall off the bone. My wife had a salad that looked tasty. This is a solid value for the money. Just get here early and beat the crazy crowd. The menu is varied with many different mostly comfort food options.

Went for a drive with my family today to Jaemoor Farm and on the way back we decided to eat at Cheddar's. I had Country Fried Steak, Baked Potato and Broccoli My meal was great, very large portion. I was really happy with the service, and the place was packed. We were seated pretty quickly. :) The prices were insanely cheap for the quality of food, and I would visit again for sure. My sister had the ribs, which looked great, and nephew had the salmon which also looked great. :) Mom had a hamburger, which she also said was good..

This place is amazing. I NEVER give 5 stars to a casual restaurant but I did here. We pass this place every week on the way to our Lake Lanier place. There is always a line out front so we usually drive on. But this weekend we decided "what the heck, we're not in a hurry". The hostess said "30 minute wait" - we were seated in 10. Service was impeccable. Our waitress was always there just when we needed her but she wasn't pushy. Drinks, salad and meal all came very quickly. We were actually in and out in just over 30 minutes yet we never felt rushed. We could have taken it slower if we wished - nobody was pushing us - it's just that they were so efficient and attentive that everything went quickly. Food was excellent! Prices are amazing for this type restaurant. My wife and I ate (with iced tea) for $28. That's about what I usually pay at the 'el cheapo' Mexican restaurant near my home.

Heading home from the hospital, this was a nice visit. The service was great, the the food was good. I am not sure what type of place this joint is trying to be but it is good all the way around. It reminds me of Bennigans from the 80's. That isn't a bad thing. The chicken fingers were a bit bready but overall a good stop. This is a winner for the local area. Zero complaints and a bunch of positives. If you choose to come here, you won't make a mistake.

  • Rebecca M.

My husband and I stopped in around 830 pm on a Saturday night. We stoop at the hostess station for 5 minutes before the hostesses even greeted us. We were told it would be at least an hour wait-we left. We will not return because of the rudeness. The hostesses ruined it for us.

Place is good. Haven't had anything I just don't like. Prices are super reasonable and I always have enough for lunch the next day. Yummy chicken tenders, spisagna?? Or something like that. Something like spaghetti casserole...delicious. And I have really enjoyed their drink menu. Couple different mojitos-all good. It's always packed! So we sit at the bar. Very friendly bartenders so far. Great for everyone because they have a little of everything

  • Eric H.

I just moved into the area with my son and we wanted to try this place out...I am glad we did! The prices are fair and food was good! I had the full rack of ribs and they were good! I will definately be back for drinks on my own or with adult company. The prices on the drinks looked VERY reasonable and bar side was very welcoming! Seems to be a descent local crowd that knew each other or were friendly enough to give that appearance. The waiter we had was exceptional. I think he may have been trying to hard to impress my 14 year old, and could have been mistaken as "thugish" by the wrong person. He was great! Not pushy, helpful and always there when I wanted something.

We visited Cheddars for the first time on Tuesday evening, around 6:30 and the service was very slow. The place was not busy and it took 10 minutes for the server to even take our drink order. I ordered the mushroom burger but was unflavorful, disappointed but the onion rings were awesome. Plus the place was very cold.

  • Michael L.

I've been here only twice, now. The food is good, but the low prices make Cheddars a terrific value. THAT'S why they are always busy.

Favorite resturant! I went to Cheddars 2 nights in a row while in town and had the Chicken Pot Pie which was delicious and the second night had ribs and shrimp. Both times we ordered the onion rings and they were amazing. Everything was so inexpensive and the atmosphere is great. Go there!!!

  • Lina B.

My service was slow. My steak was cold. And there was a hair in the salad. I liked the sweet tea and the Idaho mashed potatoes. Oh and we only asked for extra lemons 3 times before they got to the table.

One of my favorites in Gainesville. Wait is sometimes long but I always get lucky with a seat in the bar and or outside on the patio. Food prices are great, and portions are way plenty!

I've been to this restaurant several times. Food has always been good, service is good, portions are large, and prices are very reasonable. What more could you ask for in a family restaurant!?

Love this place. Food is very good, prices are really low, portions were huge. It is normally pretty packed - you know why??? BECAUSE of the above people! Nice restaurant, friendly servers, well worth the wait.

Food is okay, service is okay, and it is very clean. Also the walkways are wide so you won't bump into other people.
