A strong 4 stars. We had baked clam which was amazing, we highly recommend it. As vegetarian/occasional pescetarians we really enjoyed the two eggplant dishes, eggplant parmesan and Penne Gabriella. Both were fantastic dishes. The service was excellent. Come with a scoutmob if you can. We would definitely come back again. I may not drive 10 miles to come here but it is my new favorite restaurant with a one mile radius of my apartment.

As you walk in you are wow'd by the simple ambiance and comfortable enviornment. The host greeted me like I've been going there for many many years. We had made reservations through opentable.com and were about 5 minutes late but they held our table. Seemed like a pretty busy night (Sunday night). Overall service was okay. Waitress seemed like she was new but was very friendly. The food was okay. I had the filet and my fiance had the Veal Gorgonzola which was okay. The sauce was very dry and simple. Wouldnt recommend it at all. Also had the ceaser salad which was excellent! We had a scoutmob that we used... I don't think I would go back if I didn't have the scoutmob. I suggest staying away from the filet and veal.. both just okay items. The pasta dishes that other tables had looked excellent and were huge portions. Not the "best" Italian food in Atlanta but it's a good date spot..

It was Christmas Eve when an estranged friend invited me to attend her birthday dinner at Nino's, an Italian restaurant situated amongst the plethora of adult novelty stores and strip clubs of Cheshire Bridge Road. Between their lascivious outings, I recommend that the salacious crowd find their way to Nino's because it is an exquisite, intimate, and almost romantic dining experience. I say ALMOST romantic because, although the lighting and atmosphere are indeed intimate, the cramped nature of the restaurant's interior means that you're nigh within arm's reach of every adjacent table. But hey, Nino's is an Italian restaurant, so when you're there, you're family. A fellow customer even smiled at me, shook my hand, and wished a Merry Christmas to me just as he was leaving and as I was waiting to be seated. Perhaps it was the due to the Christmas spirit, alcohol, my affable demeanor, and/or the aforementioned sense of camaraderie engendered by Nino's romanticized setting. In any case, I was both surprised and delighted by that friendly gesture, and the hostess was somewhat puzzled and curious, asking if I knew that guy. Other than our Latino server, Nino's seemed to be an authentic Italian eatery, and everyone in my dinner party seemed to enjoy their entrees. I ordered the grouper cartoccio, which was quite satisfying, with a remarkable presentation. Plus, I used the complimentary bread to soak up the juices that my grouper cartoccio was swimming in. Yummy. Also complimentary are the bruschetta appetizers. Yay! Finally, and this bears repeating, Nino's dining area is rather confined. I was in a party of 9, and the posted maximum occupancy is a mere 70 individuals. Thus, Nino's is a fine choice to accommodate a gathering of close friends, but not for those with enough children to warrant owning a mini van.

First off this place makes an awesome date spot for those that like a romantic atmoshere...but bustling with energy. The server we had was very friendly and very informative. But I'm only giving it 3 stars because the food was just OK. The server told me they are known for their veal, so I got the veal marsala. It just wasn't all that great. It may be just me because I really don't know what to expect from veal. But, I definitely want to come back. The seafood ravioli sounded amazing and I think I'll try that the next time.

Over rated.Over priced.Run of the mill. Ill start with my 9:00 reservation when we sat down it was 9:30. Then after waiting for a server to come by for 10 minutes finally a server asked if we had been helped. This is not a place that makes you feel welcome. They brought bread i asked for olive oil the server looked at me strangely. Evidently they dont dip bread in good oil.Beside it was cheap pure olive oil blend.By that time we knew what we wanted.Wife had the caesar salad(good) I had the mussels(real bad)over cooked poor quality.Wife had veal Saltimbocca(joke),No sage, not rolled, poor quality veal. I had some crappy pasta dish that i didnt eat.The Tiramasu was good you can tell they got it from a decent bakery. 1 App,2 entree,2 wine 1 desert...With tip 100.... We would have been better off getting bertolli from the grocery.

Great dinner. The baked clams were the best I have ever eaten. Seafood ravioli while a but over salty had a great flavor. Wines by the glass were reasonable and very good. Loved the bruschetta. The not Alfredo Alfredo was yummy.

Last night was my first visit to Nino's after hearing about it forever. You can read all about this history of this place in other reviews so I'll cut right to it. I've spent a lot of time in Boston's North End and Providence's Federal Hill and if you served Nino's there you would get Whacked! Not to say that it's bad, because it was good, but defiantly "Americanized-Italian food" with just the red and white table clothes missing. But if that's what your looking for (along with pretty good service) then you will be happy. The only bad part of the meal was the cannoli that was served "Spumoni style" (aka filled with candied green and red cherries and chocolate chips). As a HUGE cannoli fan this was a really weird combo and had a "fruit cake" taste to it. However, If you are looking for totally amazing Italian food go to Sotto Sotto. Think of the two restaurants in the movie Big Night (with Nino's as a smaller version of Primo's). P.S. the bathrooms are not wheelchair accessible and I'm not sure how they get away with that unless they have a separate one from the 2 in the back. If this is an issue please call first and ask.

I went into this place thinking it was going to be something special. The food was average, the service was horrible. Our waiter came in to check our table twice during the night, we had no wine, no water, no bread, no food for more than 45 minutes. Told several people (other staff members) about it and just said we'll tell your waiter. Not very good place to go. If you want good Italian, I hate to say this but you are probably better off going to Maggiano's

Really good Italian food in an authentic setting. Extensive menu offerings, definitely a place to come back to to try different things! I had my favorite italian dish-- clams with linguini-- and I couldn't have asked for anything better! Only giving a 4 because we had a waiter that seemed a little out of place in the restaurant-- while the atmosphere provided for "expert" waiters we had a student-aged guy who, while attentive, didn't seem very knowledgeable or enthusiastic.

I don't think there's a bad thing to say about Nino's. I was there on a weekday night and it was pretty quiet. The place is fairly small, but quaint with a nice cozy ambiance. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The food didn't blow me away, but it was really good. There's a really good selection of foods and everything comes out hot and fresh. Dare I say the dessert tray is fabulous and most of their desserts are made in-house.

Awesome food...not a single complaint... perfection! BUT the waiter expected an apology for me wanting to order a $40-$50 bottle of wine... The selection was well overpriced until you get to $70 then there is a very good amarone! The dining room acoustics was painful. noisy off the chart...clientele houligans and banschees! Loud we had to yell at each other over a table for 3. ...upscale dining with a Taqueria crowd. I am sticking to the competition down the road. The wait staff was like tweedle dee and tweelde dumb!

We went on a Saturday night and it was packed. We gave our reservation name and were immediately taken to our table. I read another review that said the ambiance reminded them of Petite Auberge but I don't have a clue where they came up with that. Yes, the tables proximity to others is close but it just feels like family. I never felt crowded. There is a covered patio area as well that looked like it would be fine to dine in too. The restaurant has that Old World Italian feel. The Bruschetta and rolls (warm and fresh with a plate of butter) were delicious and I have to say without hesitation or reservation the Calamari was the best I have ever had. Some of the items ordered at our table: PENNE ALLA VODKA, VITELLO PARMIGIANA, CAPELLINI ELENA, ORECCHIETTE CON SALSICCE E RAPINI........all outstanding. Our server was top notch, thank you Alberto. Yes, a little pricey but the entire evening had awesome value.

I looooooooooove this place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just found this neighbor gem recently and let me tell you, I'm sold!! They serve authentic home style Italian dish made from scratch! They have the best marinara sauce ever.. :) Ever since I found this place, my co-worker and I have been coming about twice a week now (we are hooked) the people at the restaurant are great and friendly! , very fast service (how about a made from scratch pizza on your lunch break?! unbelievably delicious), nice cozy atomosphere, nice people and great food. What else do you need?!?! You have to try and you will be hooked too and I will be saying, "I told you so!!"

I give this place a slight edge of Alfredo's. Both are great, but I like the dining area a little better and offers less of a claustrophobic feeling. When it comes to food quality and flavor, they are quite close slightly edging better to Nino's. The place is next door to Alfredo's and within walking distance. So if Alfredo's is crazy packed and you have to wait forever, try walking over to Nino's. This place has been there since 1968 and Antonio Noviello opened it in 1982 and has run the place ever since. The inside of the restaurant is nicely laid out and has a decent open-air feeling. I especially like the booths on the sides of he restaurant. The service is decent and the overall dining experience is positive. For our 1st course we ordered the baked stuff mushrooms and they were a delight. They were large snow-white fresh mushroom caps stuffed with Italian cheeses and spiced meats. It was a delight to eat and I really liked them. I would recommend this as a 1st course at dinner. For dinner I had the Veal Parmigiana or as they call it - Vitello Parmigiana. It was a sauteed, breaded veal topped with mozzarella, marinara sauce and grated Parmesan. Plus it came with a side of pasta and marinara sauce. It was very, very good and loved the dish. The sauces, meat and herbs blended in very nicely on this one. The veal was very tender and a joy to ingest. You must try this one when you visit Nino's. The interior of the restaurant was clean and the service was very good. Expect to pay moderate prices but they aren't out of hand for the quality of food and service you receive here.

We came in because of a Scoutmob deal and we will be back. We walked in, were seated and greeted promptly and were brought a complimentary crostini that was delicious. We ordered our martinis and our waiter realized that he had garnished with olives and not twists as he came to our table. He apologized and remade them immediately (as opposed to just removing the olives and adding a twist). We asked Sasha, our waiter, for appetizer suggestions and he was spot on with the mussels. Holy moley, the mussels were fresh, grit free, not over cooked and served in THE BEST tomato sauce that I have ever had. I drank the residual sauce from my spoon. My husband got the filet mignon and I got the lamb shank (a nightly special). They were both fantastic! You didn't need a knife for either dish. If we could have eaten more we would have gotten one of their (homemade!) desserts. It may look a bit dated from the road but the food, service and atmosphere do not disappoint. I can't wait to go back.

Place looks like a dump from outside but inside is quite charming in an old world kind of way. Service is excellent; food is, well... not. Whatever you do, don't order the veal parmagiana -- it's a few medallions of veal pounded so thinly you barely can tell there's any meat under the breading and sauce. Speaking of the sauce, bottled Ragu is better, more flavorful and a better consistency. At $22.50, I expected to at least be able to taste some veal. Instead it tasted like cardboard with sauce and cheese on top. This dish is a total failure. My friend ordered the sausage ravioli and she said they were pretty good so maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. I'm not sure I would ever go back to try anything else, though.

Nino, You make a great Caesar. And to everyone else: add in a completely wonderful veal chop with rosemary and garlic and your tastebuds will salute you. Quaint place, dark and misty in all the right ways like a good Italian place should be. The service is on top of things, but never too much....just right. And their Italian red selection is concise and well versed.

Went here for a friend's birthday dinner. It was a Saturday night. We were a group of 10 and I had made a reservation 3 weeks in advance. You would have never known they were expecting a group of 10 to show up! Our reservation was for 8:00 and we arrived right on time, the whole group. We were finally seated at 9:15! While waiting for out table we were stuffed into the bar area with at least 20 other people, all waiting for tables. Some of these people had reservations too. Once we were finally seated it took another 10 minutes to be greeted by our server. Eventually, after 10:00 when the restaurant started emptying, the service picked up somewhat. The food was ok, but nothing fantastic. The price point is a bit high for the quality. Typical old-school Italian.

I decided to try this local non-chain restaurant while I was in Atlanta for business after seeing it had a 4.4 out of 5 on another food site. My coworker and I had escargot and stuffed mushrooms for starters. The escargot was great with plenty of garlic and butter which added a nice deep flavor to the snails. The stuffed mushrooms were not very good with the mushrooms themselves being watery and the stuffing being rather flavorless. For the main I tried one of the specials of the evening which was a veal cutlet served on top of prosciutto cook in a white wine reduction. The veal was nice but the prosciutto was a bit on the stringy side with the edges crisp but the center (which was under the veal) on the mushy side. As for the sauce with mushrooms and sauteed spinach, there was no hint of the fruity notes of a wine reduction sauce. When I mentioned that to our server she got rather off-puttingly defensive. My coworker had the lasagna and it looked great on the plate and he enjoyed it very much. I finished the meal with a double shot of limoncello which they keep in the freezer.

An enduring classic in a city themed by turnover. Nino's delivered an excellent, low-key Valentine for me and my date. All the familiar trappings of red-sauce Italian (framed photos of giddy patrons, a thick-rock wine wall, the soft canary light). The escargot was our favorite dish, sizzling and garlicky and sunk in porcelain thimbles. You can order half entrees, and we had four: sausage-stuffed ravioli, orecchiette shell pasta, scallop linguini, and gnocchi. I love gnocchi, a recent discovery. But it was all tasty, bathed in bolognese or saffron cream sauces. Our waiter, Mark, was top notch, actually seemed to care that we enjoyed our meal and knew a lot about his menu. You won't be disappointed.

I went to Nino's last night with the boyfriend after finding it through the scoutmob. It was pretty crowded so we waited 35ish minutes to get our table even though we made a reservation but everyone was very apologetic and it didn't seem too long. The pros of the restaurant I would say are the ambiance, it was very cozy and somewhat romantic, although it was pretty loud so maybe not so romantic. As for food (and the cons): they brought out bread and bruschetta to start with, which we both liked. Then we ordered the calamari appetizer, which was...eh. We love calamari and get it most places we go if its on the menu, and this was very bland. There was nothing special about it. I ordered the orrechiette pasta with sausage and my boyfriend ordered the lasagna. Again, both were...eh. We have had better. Everything was fairly bland, and who knows, maybe we ordered the wrong thing. But for the price of this restaurant, I certainly don't think it's worth it. Unfortunately I doubt we will go back.

Wonderful little place! I'm sad it took us so long to find it, but will definitely return. Cozy, warm, family feel makes Nino's perfect for romantic dinner or family.....we did a family dinner around Christmas...it was charming. Food was fantastic (meatballs are heavenly). Only ding...parking is a bit tricky when it's crowded.

Ah, Nino's, you do not disappoint. I'm upgrading from four to five stars based on my four star review being only that we were seated by the kitchen during that particular visit which caused some minor issues. But five stars it is! My husband surprised me with reservations for our anniversary yesterday. Score for the hubby. We were seated in a nice booth and were greeted by our wonderful server. I apologize that I cannot recall his name right now. I try to remember those things but I'm not so lucky this time. We started off with a glass of white wine. I made the mistake of telling him that I liked sweet wine and boy, was it sweet. But that is not their fault; it's mine because I have no idea when it comes to wines. Oh well. I prefer water anyway so it worked for me. They brought fresh, hot bread along with bruschetta which all tasted terrific. When our order arrived we were both salivating - the husband over the vitello piccata and me over the Nino's cannelloni (drool). Every bite was mouth watering and for the first time I actually finished my entire portion of cannelloni. I don't care that I was uncomfortable. No meat or cheese left behind was my motto. Thank you, Nino's, for a perfect evening.

Pretty good if you want that classic dimly-lit Italian comfort-food sort of atmosphere. Servers were quick and polite. I had a glass of Prosecco (delish) and a pasta with the name Elena in it - an angel hair/light cream sauce/shrimp/spinach pasta dish. It was very good, but could have used a few more shrimp. I wish I had tried the desserts - they bring them out on a big cart and they looked amazing. They were good about splitting the check 5 ways, which I really appreciated. Overall, pretty enjoyable.

My friend and I were visiting Atlanta and was looking forward to eating at Nino's based on the reviews here. Maybe we had higher expectations, but we were a bit disappointed. Contrary to what others have said here, we ordered the stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer and it was not very good. The mushroom was mushy and I wish they had baked it a bit more so more cheese on top. It was lacking in taste. Both my friend and I ordered the veal, prepared two different ways. The veal was nicely trimmed and not too fatty. Sauce was nice, my saltimobocca has a couple sprigs of sage that were too tough. The meats do come with a side of pasta, which for an Italian restaurant was a shame. The spaghetti was chewy and the sauce taste like it was from a can. Portion sizes were right for us but someone with a heartier appetite may not leave completely fulfilled. Service was OK, food was delivered hot but the waiter neglected to replace our knives after he took away our dirty ones. The wait for the check and credit card was a bit long. The place was on a road with a bunch of strip clubs and sleazy bars, parking is a bit tight and the back lot is hidden behind the barber shop a bit before you reach the restaurant.

I went to this restaurant for the first time after seeing it on Scoutmob. Wow, what a treat. It was the best Italian food I have had outside of Italy. The friendly service, the romantic atmosphere, and the fresh pastas were all fantastic. I could not believe how great everything was and yet nobody ever talks about this place. It is a find for sure.

I took a date to Nino's awhile back and we had a great time. I had good ol' Veal Marsala and it was tasty. My date had the Penne a quattri formaggi, which was also good. Our server was attentive, although at one point I thought he was hitting on my date. They brought out a nice Tiramisu with a candle in it for her birthday. Go here. It's great! The kicker is the ambiance. It's nice and cozy in there. Real dim lighting and a vibrant crowd. Feels like going back in time a few decades. Great night out!

I went here with high hopes after getting my Half-off depot gift certificate in the mail. I have to admit, I was highly disappointed. I had the lasagna, and it was nothing special. My friend had the pasta with white sauce (they don't call it alfredo, I wonder if thats because their arch rival, Alfredo's is down the street). It was nothing spectacular either. For the price, I wouldn't go back. The wine was the only thing that made the meal enjoyable.

Love this long standing, neighborhood, authentic Italian restaurant on Cheshire bridge. Mimi is the perfect waitress & everyone is super nice, like they've known you forever. The service is as excellent as the entrees. Try the lasagna for good ole home cookin'. If you're looking for hip & trendy, this is so NOT the place for you. No pretentious people here! Only genuinely good food, good people, good service, & decent prices! Must not miss a shot of Straaga for a little after dinner "buzz"...go easy, this stuff is super strong...too much & you might actually start hallucinating! Love this place!

We were visiting Atlanta for Summer vacation with my wife and two daugthers, we wanted a good whole wheat pasta and were looking for places, Nino showed up in our search and started driving, the location look like a very local place that you had to know to find it, otherwise as a tourist you dont just get to it, and if you see it you think about a very small place. We came in and the place took us somewhere else, the music, the wines, very good impression from the moment we walked into the place. The food was very good. This place was a very pleasant surprise. Recommended!!!

Story goes the battle between Nino's and Alfredo's has been going on since forever... every time Nino's raises prices Alfredo's drops prices... I must say I am a huge Alfredo's fan but I opted for Nino's a few weekends ago and was impressed. The food is just as good as Alfredo's, and the menu more extensive. The only con: prices are higher at Alfredo's so bring your credit cards:-) Love the quiet romantic setting A+...

For a friend's b-day, she chose a special little place nestled amongst the peep shows and sex shops of Cheshire bridge...the old school Italian gem that is Nino's. Opened in 1968, it is Atlanta's oldest Italian restaurant. I loved it. I do not think I have been in a restaurant in Atlanta that felt like it had hardy roots. Nino's reminded me of the Italian restaurants in Chicago. The decor was understated, if a bit out of style. The lights low. The paintings on the walls had age to them. There was no techno music playing, no model thin waitresses carrying minuscule portions on triangular trays...no "scene" to be spoken of. Now if you want Italian and scene, go to Pricci, the food is great and everyone wears Dolce & Gabbana. If you want food that is delicious, a comforting "part of the family" atmosphere, and a charming, well aged waiter who knows the difference between a chianti and a sangiovese and whether one goes better with the veal stuffed olives than the other....go to Nino's. Our waiter was wonderful. I swear he made all three of us blush, and it wasn't because he was wearing the latest skin tight Diesel jeans...no, he was probably a 50ish gentleman about half my height, but he spoke of the specials as if he was making love to them. He squealed with delight as he put down our dishes in front of us, murmuring "bella! bella!" Could have been an act, but it felt good to us. When we asked about how they made the veal stuffed olives, he actually knew they were stuffed inside and out and said the breadcrumbs were from the very rolls on our table. He KNEW the food. I digress...we had: Pre dinner cocktails: 2 vodka/1 gin martinis up, dirty with olives Amuse bouche: tiny warm crostini with fresh tomato and herbs These were perfect! Warm! Petit! Fresh...the best I have have. You could taste just the ingredients for their pure individual flavors. First course: Fried green olives stuffed with veal These were amazing. So crisp, not a bit oily...the firm tang of the olive contrasting with the rich, moist veal...mmm I thought I had a recipe for these...Olive all'Ascolana...I found it and will have to try and make now...maybe for new years. Main course: Fish Special Fresh Grouper in tomato broth She cleaned the plate...a rarity for this ami. Fettucine alla Michela Fettuccine with fresh shrimp and scallops in a light Pernod and saffron cream sauce Holy doodoo I liked this. It was not a ginormous portion...for pasta it was the most approachable of quantities. The creaminess was not heavy and rich. It was light, savory, transporting... and the saffron and Pernod gave it the most delicate escalation of flavor. The seafood was cooked perfectly: the shrimp firm and the scallops heart wrenchingly tender (and huge). Vitello Saltimbocca Veal sauted in seasoned white wine sauce, fresh sage, topped with prosciutto di parma Also a clean plate member...the birthday girl adored this, and I found it rather rich and delicious myself. Dessert: Cappucino, tiramisu and a special birthday trio of desserts, including the most wonderful, moist marzipan I have ever tasted. I didn't know they made it like that. Wine: A carafe of the house red, a Montipulciano. Nino's was a surprising delight for me. A hidden gem. It just felt different than most restaurants in Atlanta. It wasn't all sparkly. I like sparkly, but I love different, interesting and charming. I had always heard of Alfredos...a mere stone's throw from Nino's, but will happily pass on by, sight unseen, for another table at Nino's.

Alfredo's who? LOVE Nino's...great service. Marinara sauce is the best in the city of Atlanta. Desserts are always dry...I can't seem to get there in time for the fresh batch. Dont get me wrong, I STILL order the carrot cake or chocolate torte everytime in hopes of catching them at their best...I know better than to miss out, they're homemade so they can get away with a lot (including catching them on a few bad days of old desserts). They wheel around the dessert cart at the end of your meal...yes in this tiny establish they obnoxiously come by your table with 6 large desserts on a 1970's wooden cart. The decor is old, authentic, dusty (and no one cares). They have a small room on the side of the main dining area, my favorite...very private...seats 8 but I'm normally there with just 1 other guest. Meatballs are wonderful (on angel hair / marinara) {when I'm being boring**.} They make a fabulous lobster ravioli sometimes for a special. I've had everything on the menu, try it all. Great price for AUTHENTIC _ QUALITY FRESH Italian. Complimentary french rolls & butter as well as mini bruschetta spread crisp bread slices set off the meal - enjoy a salad, pasta or fish and of course...dont forget dessert.

we tried it for dinner... Alessandra (daughter of Tony) and the staff continue to do a great job. We split a mix of dishes... the penne with quatro formaggi (four cheese) was outstanding. The fettucini alfredo was reasonable - not too heavy yet full flavored. The lasagna as pretty good too. We also had a special - bresaola (beef with spices and pine nuts) with pasta and marinara sauce... a tad messy but very flavorful. The desserts included tiramisu and hocolate/raspberry cake. Place and setting were somewhat older with character... could've used some updates and freshening up, but wouldn't we all ??? The neighborhood was a tad dodgy, particulary compared to Buckhead - lots of neon-lit "gentlemanly" places. Made for an interesting drive :) Would definitely come back for the food!! Nice job Nino's...

Yes, this is REAL Italian food. I grew up in upstate NY and unlike many who think they know what real Italian is and is not, I know what it is. The restaurant is simple but clean inside with many booths, but we were sat right in the front in a little private booth with two table. A fantastic spot that you should request. We started with the Mussels and were a little apprehensive with a red sauce, but the waiter said we would like it. He was wrong - we loved it. It was a white wine garlic fairly spicy sauce with a little marinara mainly for color. We ate every one of them. I had he veal Caprese and my wife had the ORECCHIETTE CON SALSICCE E RAPINI (shells with sausage, tomatoes broccoli). We both thought the dishes were outstanding. I also had a half carafe of merlot (the house). It was only so, so but for house that is the norm ($14). Although full, we had to try the Tiramisu. It did not disappoint! Our total bill was $75 which was quite reasonable. I highly recommend putting this on your regular list of Italian restaurants.

well if your going to listen to any lardy ass that requires a cup of coffee and a bowl of whipped cream than you need not read my review. however, if you enjoy good pasta, good service, and a warm italian ambiance than allow me. i have never been let down, i have spent two birthdays here and request more!!! i really enjoyed every thing i tried, so to pick out just one thing is a waste of time to elaborate on. i also have brought at least 20 guests here and they too are now return ninos guests. chesirebridge is filled all kinds of the real thing! so please check it out when you want a dimly lit evening and a bottle of wine oh and dessert too! but then again you may just be some poverty inspired tasteless frockwearing lardy ass that just wants a cup of coffee and a bowl of whipped cream. hm

Nino's is the standard by which other Italian restaurants in Atlanta should be judged. Tucked away in a modest house on Cheshire Bridge Rd., Nino's offers a superb menu with enough old warm charm to make you think you were in New York's Little Italy or South Philadelphia as opposed to across the street from a strip club and next door to an adult book store. The bruschetta is first-rate, the coconut cake is divine... even the house wine is wonderful (I recommend the house pinot grigio). A prefect setting for a date or special occasion, you'll definitely be back again and again.

This place is great! I've been going there for 17 years and look forward to every visit. If you like white sauces you have to try the Quatro Formagi. (I hope I spelled it correctly.) I get it every time I go.

I LOVE Ninos. The service and staff are great, and I adore the food. My favorite entree is the Zuppe di Pesce. Its a place that makes me want to order the same thing over and over again without tiring (which I do with NOTHING), while my hubby and guests we might bring with us try something a little different each time (and let me have a taste!). The wine list is fantastic and they have a nice selection of cocktails. My husband vouches for the delicious desserts and cappucinos while I enjoy a nice after dinner drink or sneak a quick bite of his while I drink a black coffee. When you go even semi-regularly, they make you feel like you're part of the family with the attention and service they provide. Great to have the option of sitting inside or outdoors in a wonderful casual dress setting. :)

Pretty average Italian food in a place that is really showing its age.

Not only did we wait an eternity for our food, but when it finally came the entrees were "eh" vs "delicious. Too bad. At least the calamari was good.

omg! this place is fantastic! i'm from nyc and really really miss the good italian restaurants there. i've been wanting to try nino's for quite some time and just kept forgetting! anyhoo FINALLY got there this past friday nite and from entrance to departure, i can't say enough about this wonderful restaurant. i had veal parmagiana with a side of angel hair alfredo. simply scrumptious. warm little loaves of bread. house char at $4.50 a glass (and pretty good lol), tiramisu and coconut cake (anyplace that has coconut cake rates in my book lol). and the service was among the very best i've had anywhere. the patio is gorgeous. the entire place is cozy and romantic. please treat yourself when there's a special need. you will not be disappointed.

I love Nino's, despite it's dull location on Cheshire Bridge. It's an old fashioned Italian restaurant, with chianti in wicker and red pleather booths. The food isn't daring, but it's genuine and hearty. The linguine vongole (clams) is chock full of clams on the shell, and the lobster fra diavolo is the star on the menu. Fresh lobster, spicey red sauce, all the right ingredients. Try not to fill up on the bread, but it's just so good! They also have a nice patio.

I have not eaten dined inside the restaurant only ordered take out. So right now I can comment on the food. The Calamari was excellent - they give a very big portion and the spicy tomato sauce it came with was delicious. The Caesar - was nothing special. Actually my husband was not a fan of the dressing, he thought it tasted "mustardy". I ordered the spaghetti with white clam sauce - This was excellent! The little neck clams were delicious and they really give you a good portion of clams. Surprisingly I thought they did not give enough pasta - normally restaurants give you plenty of pasta. It was still enough to fill me up, after eating the meal with bread and few bites of calamari. I should mention that I have a huge appetite - so if you eat like a normal person who may say the pasta they served is fine. The sauce was also very delicious. Someone wrote a comments saying the sauce was plain, but in my opinion the sauce had plenty flavor. Next time we eat here we'll make sure to dine at the restaurant.

We scouted around and found this place. For the Scoutmob price I guess it's ok. I ordered the veal - it is not good at all. I had a bite of it and thats all I had. The smell is funky and flavor is weird. For 23 dollar dish - I am very disappointed. Dry paste with vodka sauce is decent. The complimentary bread is good. For this place, I would recommend to order safe and just get the regular Italian dishes like pasta, spaghetti, etc.

We come here a few times per month, I must say I'm very disappointed how we were treated the evening before Mothers Day (yes I should have made a reservation) they could not accommodate us due to no reservation so we left, for the heck of it I called to see when I could get a reservation and the girl said 7:00 we were there at 6:30, I wonder why she did not tell us that when we were standing in front of her??? We went to another Italian restaurant a few blocks away where they were just as busy but went out of their way to accommodate us. Will we go back?? I'm sure, just not happy how they treated us, I would have been happy to wait 30 minutes if she would have just told us..

Love this place and want to go back! Great ambiance, good service, very nice date place or just with friends. Food was great, but definitely very rich. The sauces were a little too creamy for me but still tasted well prepared. The tables were way too close, so I hope they expand one day. Nice patio too. Only drawback is a perfect view of Onyx (stripclub)... or you could consider it a nice night for dinner and dancing :)

You know how the taste of some food are vastly enhanced by atmosphere, feelings when eating, or anything other than the actual taste of the food? I think my meal at Nino's definitely benefited from the classic old school Italian restaurant vibe, along with my major craving for a giant pasta dish earlier in the week before I got to Nino's for a Sunday dinner. The other Yelpers weren't kidding...it looks like there have been no changes to the decor since Nino's first opened in the 1940s (other than adding a TV above the bar). Other than an occasional Southern accent overheard from other tables, I could have been in Chicago, Boston, Queens, or any other city with old school Italian cred (well, at least more so than Atlanta). I was actually surprised upon exit that the sun was shining outside showing Cheshire Bridge Rd in all its glory, since the dining room is so dim. The food- i ordered the caprese salad, which was a gigantic plate of tomatoes, mozzarella, arugula, splashed with olive oil and concentrated sweet yummy dots of balsamic vinegar...I loved this dish so much, I practically licked the plate clean. It would have been worth the visit just for the tomatoes and balsamic vinegar of this dish. But no, I couldn't stop there...I also ate a giant plate of creamy sauced fettuccine with a few pieces of seafood thrown in...exactly what I was craving, even though it probably was not better or worse than the old school Italian places of yore I was referring to earlier. Oh yeah, having a Scoutmob didn't hurt either...it was a pop-up Scoutmob for Sun-Thu only, for 50% off. Prompt servers who refilled my water glass many times, gave me bruschetta, and left me alone in a dark corner table to wolf down my giant Italian meal...thanks for not judging me.

Had a pretty unfortunate visit recently at Nino's. This was my 3rd time here and it was with a large group for a birthday party. The restaurant was very accommodating in terms of the reservation and setting things up. But from there on it was pretty bad. The setup was on the covered patio on horribly uncomfortable 'patio style chairs'. It was a typical saturday evening in Atlanta - HOT AND HUMID. Being on the patio was miserable. It honestly should not have even been open. Ok, they restaurant is not responsible for the weather. But it just got worse. We were seated and did not even get menus for 20+ minutes nor did we get anything other than water - unless we asked. The waiter was very overwhelmed and extremely over heated. Knowing that a party of 16 was coming, he did not really need to be dealing with other tables. Reservation was at 7:15 - we did not even get the opportunity to order till about 8p. Food arrived no earlier than 9p. And instead of asking for assistance the waiter brought the food out in groups...with a large delay in between. He really should have asked for help. The food came - for some it was good, for others not so much. 1 person sent there food back for undercooked chicken. Don't think I or the other 15 people will be back. Too bad - we had such high hopes.

I really enjoyed this cute, little Italian restaurant! We found it on Scoutmob (you receive $20 max discount on your meal). What a great deal! If you look at the menu online, the prices seem expensive but don't let that scare you. They have a patio/outdoor area and an indoor area which provides a romantic, dim light atmosphere. I'm pretty sure it's an older building but it's been renovated so you can't really tell. The booth we sat in was comfortable, the servers were helpful and attentive, and the food was very good. There were people walking around providing refills before we asked (which was nice). There's so many options on the menu, it was hard to decide on just one dish! I finally choose the Petti Di Pollo Alla Alessandra which included chicken breast topped with eggplant, mozzarella cheese and served in a Marsala wine sauce. It also came with a side of pasta with whichever sauce you'd like on it: marinara, meat sauce, or pink sauce (at no additional charge). I choose the Pink sauce which was excellent! To be honest, the Marsala sauce was a bit bland for the chicken so I'd love to come back and order it again but with Pink sauce (tomato sauce mixed with cream/alfredo sauce). I think that would make it perfect! This is a great date restaurant! They have a full wine menu and all kinds of seafood or meat dishes! Check it out!

Absolutely awesome. Great service and epic food. We had a large party, so we odered several appetizers. I recommend the escargot and calamari. Every thing was great. We shared dishes. I find its best to share Italian food. Family style

When looking for an Italian restaurant reminiscent of old school Italian values and dishes, look no further than Ninos. I have been coming to this restaurant since I was a very young child. I had my first ever escargot experience at ninos and order it nearly every time. The only thing that can make food taste better aside from great sourcing and great preparation... Is service and atmosphere. Although seemingly a little dated, the decor will make you feel like you're in a scene from the Godfather. Dimly lit with photos of the "homeland" on the wall, multiple servers will come to your table to make sure you have everything you need and are happy. Server named Sasha is an absolute gem. You will have plenty of food as the portion sizes are true to Italian culture. Highly recommended. Prices vary, but are fair. Fish specials and the veal dishes are highly recommended. Desserts all homemade and ridiculously tasty. Not over sugared.

Our first option was Alfredos but it was a 2 hr wait, so we decided to go to Ninos Going out to dinner is all about the experience, not only great tasty food but a great service. We had to wait an hour so we ordered a bottle of house wine which costs $30 (expensive) and it tasted bad. As soon as you smell it you could feel it. When we complained about it the old man from the bar responded in a very aggressive way that it was new. Bottom line we had a unpleasant moment. After this, The food couldn't taste too good. Not repeating it.

It breaks my heart to change my review, but Nino's seems to have gone downhill. (My original review was on April of 2011) Because I was such a big fan, I used to recruit my friends to join me at least once every three months. The last three experiences have been disappointing. The shrimp and scallop fettuccine (ala Michaela) has always been my favorite. The scallops are chewy have a funny taste. (Are they boiling them?) Regardless the seafood is not as fresh as it used to be - even the shrimp were old. My friend said on the last visit, "I can smell that seafood - the scent is not good!". I gave feedback to the waiter on the last two visits, but this time I didn't bother. The cleanliness seems to have gone downhill, too. There is a lot of dust and cobwebs. The curtains hanging in the "porch" need to be cleaned and hung properly. I really hope Nino's can step it up - it used to be one of my favorite places.

I went here for dinner last Saturday night with six people. You definitely need reservations on a Saturday, the place was very busy. The service here was top notch, and the waiter was very attentive and accommodating to our group. I had the special for the night, which was grilled grouper with a homemade tomato marinade. The fish was prepared perfectly, and just melted in your mouth. Every one of my dinner mates also had a very good meal. Nino's is a little pricey, but for a special evening out it's a nice old-school italian restaurant experience.

This place is literally right next to Alfredos, but if they are too busy, this is where we go. I don't even know why, since I think it's just as good. Their wine is fabulous. Pasta delicious. Good place for a special meal. Honestly, like I said, I kind of even prefer it to Alfredos.

Really enjoyed eating at this restaurant. It is very authentic Italian food and it is comparable to the food I ate in Italy! LOVED the Veal Picatta, the meat is incredibly tender, melts in your mouth, and the lemon butter sauce is creamy and delish. I picked a penne pasta on the side with pink sauce and it was tasty as well. Husband had gnocci and you can tell that it is freshly made. The service is great , the atmosphere is elegant, highly recommend this place for tasty italian food. The house salad was great as well with goat cheese, walnuts, tomatos. mmm. The veal dishes are superb.

Okay. I heard rave reviews about this place and its main competitor (Alfredo's). It didn't live up to the hype for me. Food: really good. Is it the best Italian food? Eh. I had the eggplant parmesan which was tastey, certainly better than most Italian places I've tried it. The menu could have had a better variety if half the menu wasn't slaughtered baby cow (veal). Atmosphere: The patio area was very nice. I recommend requesting this spot on nice evenings. If you are looking for a romantic seating option, make sure to request a booth. The restaurant is small, with walls adoring reprints of paintings from Italian artists, but it's not really romantic as I envision an Italian restaurant to be. Service was a little slow because of crowd, but good.

Wanted to go to Alfredo's tonight since we were close, and it is a favorite "go to" when it comes to great, straight up "Old School" Italian ambiance, and flavors. Unfortunately we could not get a table for two hours and Nino's came to mind. Called and was greeted very pleasantly, and the hostess mentioned that they had a table open on the enclosed patio. We got there in ten minutes and were sat immediately, very happy that it was toasty warm and ambient. Our server assistant greeted us and promptly poured water all over the table and menus, (possibly trying to clean the dirty menus?} The {now clean} menus looked very good, we both had a difficult time deciding on both dinner and wine because the selections all looked so good, Decided to split a Caesar, She had the chicken with eggplant, prosciutto and mozzarella. and err..... Marsala sauce? I opted for a half order of pasta and clam sauce, she had a glass of delicious Pinot Nero, BREAKDOWN; Water on table and menus Chicken dish- rubbery, and pretty flavorless, sauce was non existent Pasta bologenese - NOT! more just meat spaghetti sauce, TRAGIC Caesar- bland needed salt and or more cheese, we were very surprised to be in an "Italian" restaurant and not get offered fresh pepper on salad. Vongole Pasta- loved the amount I got for a half order and loads of clams steamed perfectly. Unfortunately that was it... there really was no butter, wine, garlic, lemon, or fresh herbs as expected. More of just a grey, slightly sand broth at the bottom of the bowl that I'm pretty sure was just the clam broth. Asked the server for bread to go with my pasta, 15 minutes later I was able to get some from the S/A. Oh almost forgot! When our server was waiting on the table across from us, he turned around and put his dirty towel and the other guests menus on our table over our bread while we were eating! SORRY BUT YOU GET NO SECOND CHANCE

Okay, so this review is not a recent review, since it has been several years since I've been to this place. It had awesome reviews back in 2009-2011 when hubby and I decided to go for Valentine's Day. I agree with some of the other reviewers, even back then, while cozy and romantic, some of the decor and fixtures could use an upgrade. This spot was very crowded and even with our reservations, we had to wait a little bit (not a problem). We enjoyed some wine and waited for our table. This place is sexy, with dim lighting and an authentic Italian atmosphere. The food was pretty good, but the lively, yet sexy, atmosphere made it a hit that night. I remember that the kitchen staff and waiters broke dishes/wine glasses often from dropping them, I guess, as they were so busy, and the diners, myself included, would cheer about it!!! Interesting experience.

I was excited to try this place for the first time and I am SO upset right now. I called in a to go order of a few different things after looking at the menu online. When I got there the bill was DOUBLE what it should have been. I said to the guy "hey you know your prices online are way different than this", and I was met with hostility and a shrug of the shoulders telling me "yea we know, we tell them all the time to change that". I asked to speak with a manager and was told no one was there to assist me. Then I asked the guy behind the bar with the thick accent who was in charge to handle customer issues and he blew me off big time. Total jerk. He told me I need to "pay now and call the owner tomorrow" and that he "couldn't do anything because he doesn't know how to work the computer". I asked him if they could adjust my bill, give me a discount, etc and he continued to reiterate how helpless he was and how I needed to pay. I brought up the topic of customer service and how someone should be in charge and he only further blankly stared at me. I snatched my card from the waiter (who was actually nice and agreed with me) That I'd just go somewhere else. I told the Italian Ass on the way out that I hope he enjoyed all the food I ordered. Will NEVER return and WILL be calling the owner.

Have been wanting to try this historic Atlanta Italian place for a while. Cannot complain. The mussels are a must get, and the Cannoli at the end was the size of my forearm. Bread was also very good, but we had to keep requesting more. Definitely overpriced, but they get away with it. Wait for the Scoutmob or you may feel cheated.

This is my favorite Italian food in the city. It has authentic Italian food and a cozy atmosphere. From the outside it looks like a hole in the wall, but it's the 2nd oldest Italian restaurant in the city of Atlanta. It is also family run, so you get a family vibe when you are dining here. My husband always gets veal. They pound it out perfectly so that you can cut it with your fork. I order the best quattro formaggi! It is so creamy, rich, and delicious that I have a hard time branching out to eat anything else. I highly recommend this restaurant and suggest that you ask for Mark or Sasha to be your server!

What a lovely evening what a lovely place. We started with the calamari and then moved into wonderful shrimp pasta dishes. They serve bruschetta as a complimentary nosh when your drink order arrives. The house red is so smooth and mellow. Then for dessert we had profiteroles and coconut cake. Lord it was so satisfying. The ambiance with very sexy Italian music was very relaxing.

  • Jim K.

Quick Summary: Definitely worthy he visit. Great food, especially the calamari, the tomato sauce used on all the red sauce dishes, the bruschetta and the fresh Italian bread. The veal dishes were excellent as was the spaghetti and meatballs. The dessert cart was great. With all the Italian heritage in the family we have high standards for Italian restaurants, and Nino's delivered. Not the best we have ever been to, but definitely authentic, homemade Italian food. The calamari got a 5-star rating, the rest of the food was in the 4-4+ star range. The service was excellent, although the pace slowed down a bit too much after dinner was served and the restaurant got crowded. Some of the portions were smaller than we are used to - definitely plenty to eat, but nothing left for take home. The price in my estimation is closer to $$$, primarily because everything is a la carte. Our bill worked out to about $35 per person for appetizers to share, desserts to share, and our main courses - no alcoholic beverages and just 3 cokes.

Considering this is the third owner, they are still doing a good job. Everything, including the service and reception, is authentic and friendly. Prices are fair too: zuppe di pesce, $25, and half pasta for $10. Wine prices can also be most reasonable, as a super Tuscan was only $38. Bottom line: I'll look forward to returning. PS. Check your scoutmob!

We have been to Nino's a few times and decided to get dinner here the other night as we had a restaurant . com GC. I believe they are on ScoutMob pretty regularly as well. The décor is pretty awful with the wood pane walls and, but it shows how long this place has been around. There is something very charming about the old tables and dim lit lights. The service here is always great too. They give you bread and butter once you order drinks as well as a plate of small pieces of bruschetta. We ordered a carafe of the house red (Montepulciano) and it was really good for the price. To start we ordered the Antipasto Supremo which was a little disappointing. For $9 I would have expected better. For an entrée I ordered the Vitello Saltimbocca (Veal in white wine sauce, sage, and prosciutto) and my wife ordered the Chicken Parm. I loved the Veal and my wife who is very critical of Chicken Parm dishes said hers was great. The portion sizes are pretty big here so while we wanted dessert we were just too full. The prices here are a little high, but if you use ScoutMob or restaurant . com it is a pretty good deal. I like the local feel to this pace and it is about as far away from a chain as you can get. If you have never been I recommend checking it out and I am sure I will be back again.

I came here with high expectations after reading the reviews on Yelp, and unfortunately those expectations were not met. Shattered, I should say. For appetizers, I had the complimentary bread, bruschetta and the baked clams. The bread was not warm, the bruschetta was dry and too crunchy, and the baked clams were overcooked and chewy. For my main dish, I had the fettuccine with scallops and shrimp in a saffron cream sauce. The shrimp were quite small and dried, and the scallops had a weird ammonia aftertaste to them. I did not know this when I was eating them, but apparently that is the defining smell of scallops going bad. Let's hope I don't get food poisoning. To top it off, the server charged me 18% gratuity for a table of two. I've served at two restaurants, and this is definitely not standard practice. It is also explicitly stated on Nino's website that "18% gratuity will be added to parties of six or more". Nothing there about parties of two. Thanks for saving me 2%, Nino's. So, there you go. Definitely won't be back here anytime soon.

Great food, great wine, great service, and great atmosphere! I ordered one of the pastas and it was really good. The waiter was awesome and made great recommendations. Saw so many great things on the menu that I can't wait to try. This one was definitely a winner and I'll be returning soon.

Love this place! Reminds me of the little mom and pop places all over France (wow that sounds pretentious). We had various pastas as entrees and a prosciutto and mellon app that was fantastic. The location is a little adventurous but don't let that scare you, once inside it is charming and dimly lit. Also had a couple of glasses of the house chianti that were delightful.

Very nice setting once you are inside. Awesome Bruschetta is brought along with a very tasty bread. I ordered my usual Spaghetti and Meatballs which was very good but a little pricy. The side salad was not for me. Wished I had known it had walnuts and olives in it. I would recommend to all.

Nino's and Alfredo's are naturally compared to each other since they are located near each other. This place is a great local Italian-American eatery and a good value. I like the character of the place. As one of the oldest Italian restaurants in Atlanta you won't find cutting edge cuisine but it has a reliable stable of old favorites. The veal is popular as it has its own mini-section on the menu. We tried the veal saltimbocca and it was good. The ravioli was delicious as well. I've been meaning to try this place for years and finally went before a Scoutmob deal expired.

I'd always wondered about this place but never ventured b/c I heard it was expensive. Then Scoutmob came to the rescue like always and removed my worries about price and gave me a chance to find out if the food is good. Well the food was just ok, and we even ordered items that our server recommended. CHICKEN MARSALA (reg. $18.50) My dad wanted chicken and because his taste buds aren't what they used to be, I asked for the most flavorful chicken. Server recommended this dish. Chicken was sauteed w/ Marsala wine & cremini mushrooms (although they looked like button mushrooms to me). I could tell my dad didn't like his dish - he wanted Tabasco (but I told him no, that would be too insulting to them). But I had to agree, his dish was pretty bland. The dish also came w/ a side of pasta - that was ok, too. GROUPER - CATCH OF THE DAY ($25.50) Server spoke very highly of this dish so my mom decided to get this. The fish was brushed w/ egg and then pan-fried, and also flavored w/ capers. She got the mixed vegetables (carrots & broccoli) as her side. She enjoyed her dish, I thought it was just ok. And pricey for what she got. VEAL CAPRESE (reg. $20.50) I love veal, and so I asked the server for his favorite veal dish - but I thought this dish was just ok ... although it was probably the best tasting out of the three. The veal was sauteed in light white wine, mozzarella, & fresh tomatoes. My dish came with a side of pasta, too. Overall 3 stars. Service was friendly, ambiance was dark, few tables were occupied, and the food was just ok and just not all that exciting. Maybe we should've stuck with the seafood dishes since I'd read somewhere that seafood is their specialty. Who knows. But I think the food here is little pricey for what you get. Honestly, I'd rather go to Alfredo's b/c you get more the complete Italian experience.

Wine list is good but expensive. Caesar salad and caprese salad were average. Pasta was average. Three stars is a reach, not sure how anyone could give it four stars. The quality is just not there. Service is wonderful!

wow - you feel like you are in Italy when you enter the place. Very romantic and relaxing. Option for patio or inside. Waitstaff is very friendly and skilled. Loved the food and carafe of red wine. I had the lasagna. My wife had one of the veal piccatas. My kids had lasagna. The Caesar salad was excellent and nicely chilled. chef is well versed and skilled. A great value and a wonderful experience! I'll be back!

You know what, it was not as bad as we were assuming it would. Using a Scoutmob, we arrive at 5:15 (like old folk) as we were starving from running errands. I was craving Carbonara, and even thought it was not on the menu, they whipped it up, and it was a big serving. Butter is the standard, so do not expect olive oil and bread! The decor is frigging awful but the place is still around so the decor is not something that they are probably interested in updating.

My in-laws are from Western NY, and this is the kind of Italian food that they like. We've been trying plenty of Italian places all over town, but this is the first that reminded Jimmy of what he grew up on - dimly lit, big portions, classic flavors. We called at 7:30 on a Friday night and got a reservation for 8:30. We arrived around 8:20 and stood in the small and full bar area until our table was ready. We got a cozy booth in the corner that the 3 of us just fit in, though the belly didn't have much room. Service was very friendly and knowledgeable, as if the servers had been working there for ages. It made me feel very at ease and welcome. We were immediately brought some bread (in the form of warm, small Italian loaves) and bruschetta (small crisp rounds with the tomato topping), which I devoured. We started with the mussels - good sized portion, with lots of yummy tomato sauce, which required more bread to sop it all up. The sauce was definitely on the savory salty side, which is a welcome treat as opposed to so many places that play up the sweetness of the tomato. I was going to get one of the veal dishes until I heard the specials: lamb osso bucco, grouper with a caper-tomato-olive sauce, and homemade spinach ravioli filled butternut squash, walnuts, and ricotta. I debated the ravioli and the grouper, opting for the ravioli since the butternut squash sounded perfect for the fall nip in the air that finally arrived. Jimmy ordered the veal gorgonzola, and Cam opted for the lasagna, since we'd seen several plates of the heaping, cheesy goodness going by as we waited for the table. Everything was delicious! I personally would have preferred the veal in one of the other preparations, but the meat itself was thin, tender, and not overly breaded. The lasagna was exactly what you dream of when you think of classic lasagna - perfectly savory meat sauce overflowing with cheesy goodness. And the special ravioli was divine - the filling had great textured and well-balanced flavor, accentuated by the roasted asparagus on top. Perhaps a little heavy on the cream for my usual taste, but perfect for the fall weather and my 8-month-pregnant taste buds. Sadly, there was no room for dessert, but the cart with tiramisu, coconut cake, Bailey's cheesecake, flourless chocolate cake, and others looked divine. Next time we will definitely start the meal with that coconut cake! My only complaints: parking is a little tight, particularly in the lot on the north side of the building, where the spots aren't really marked anymore, and the prices are a little high to make this a regular dinner spot, though for the quality of food and atmosphere, definitely warranted.

I haven't been to Nino's in forever...I'm a hardcore Alfredo's fan and felt a little guilty for going to Nino's but it was a nice night and they have a outdoor seating which, alas, Alfredo's doesn't. I am so glad the weather directed us to Nino's as the food and service were outstanding. Beautiful antipasto platter, gorgeous grouper and pasta entrees. The prices are just right and the wine list is diverse but not overwhelming. Will definitely go back.

Good food.. Horrible service by our waiter ...Never checked on us..we had to constantly flag him. He seemed annoyed that we asked for another glass of wine& dessert menu..dont you want to upsell..This horrible service ruined the meal....next time we will go to Alfredo's

When he asked me out last Sun for last night, I was impressed. As the week progressed and I got either a phone call or text every day, I was increasingly excited about our first date. When he asked me what kind of food I like so he could plan accordingly, I was certain he had potential. When he picked Nino's, I knew it was gonna be a good night. I admit it: I am judgmental about people's taste in restaurants. If you pick a place like Olive Garden, that tells me alot about you, food- and otherwise. If you pick a place like Nino's, that tells me something, too! In case you couldn't tell, the date went swimmingly. As far as Nino's goes . . . they were quite busy and the service was friendly though a bit spotty, I think due to that. We had a perfect little table on the corner of the heated patio and the conversation flowed easily so we weren't too frustrated by the lag in food delivery times, or the meat plate app being forgotten. Everything we did eat was delicious, from the little bruschetta tastes (complimentary) and the awesome calamari (perfect size for an app and the marinara was delicious) to our veal entrees. He got the veal parmigiania and thoroughly enjoyed it, and I got the veal margherita (sauteed meat with tomatoes and mozzarella) which was awesome. It'd been ages since I had veal and it was a treat. Nino's has that old-world feel I mentioned in my previous review, and just enough romanticism to be a hit. Verdict . . .Boys: take a girl here for a home-run date!

We thought we would try this place out for a Friday date night. The ambiance was quaint and it had a very "sopranos" feel to it. The staff was very polite and prompt. We had the lasagna and the veal saltimbocca. The sauce was sweet on the lasagna. The veal was done nicely but it was $23 for 3 small pieces :-0. For my side dish of past they charged me $2 to sub garlic and olive for the normal spaghetti sauce. Over all the food was ok and the price was expensive. I do not think we will go back as Maggianos is cheaper and better in out opinion.

If you want old-school Italian, look no further than Nino's. I had the gnocchi, and a friend had one of the specials - a spinach ravioli filled with mushrooms and walnuts. The gnocchi was wonderful - light and fluffy. But the ravioli was even better - it was incredible!! The house wine was great (a carafe for $30). The wait staff was friendly, efficient, and helpful. All in all, a place you'll want to put on your regular "go-to" spots in ATL.

I wish there were more Italian restaurants like this. It is a little small and out of the way, but the food and service were outstanding. I had the Caesar salad which was the least inspiring part of the meal. Warm bread and complimentary bruschetta were wonderful with the right combo of garlic and tomatoes. I had the lobster fradiavolo which was wonderful. It was spicy and combined two lobster tails cooked to perfection. The prices were very reasonable and the service attentive. In an era when most restaurants try to hard and fail, it is a pleasure to find a quality Italian restaurant.

I am sad to say that I am not a fan. I expected great things and my experience fell short. The ambience reminded me a lot of Petite Auberge in Toco Hills Shopping Center (not a bad start). Very much Old School but in a nostalgic, charming kind of way. Started off with a caprese salad (good) and rolls (bad/hard as in old bordering on stale). Unfortunately my entree reminded me of a pasta dish I once had at a Perkins Restaurant in Billings Montana. Seriously, I ordered the fettucini with shrimp and scallops (cannot remember the Italian name / title of it) and it was utterly underwhelming if not outright dissappointing. Lame would be the most apt description. My cousin said his veal with mushroom and gargonzola sauce was not edible. I tried it and found it to be edible but, again, lame. On a positive note, my caprese salad was okay; however, Eclipse da Luna does it a lot better (and for a fraction of the price). Like Petite Auberge, prices here are not cheap. I will say that not everyone at my table disliked their food; however, we all agreed food was not served fresh and hot (as with past visits). Either we went on an off night or this place has fallen really far downhill. Service was merely adequate. Not that it matters, but I did notice that the people running / staffing the place are more along the lines of Russian / Eastern European rather than New York / Italian. Perhaps this is what passes for fine Italian dining in Kiev or Bratislava. Perhaps really deserves 2.5 stars but on this visit I will dispense two.

Adorable local restaurant! This place is about as far from a chain as you can possibly get-- love that quality. We had a cozy table for 2 on a saturday night date night. The inside is dimly lit and welcoming- it was quite busy but felt organized within the tiny space. We dived into our bottle of Chardonnay- buttery and delicious, followed by crusty rolls and complimentary little bruscetta disks- nice change from the routine bread basket. Our mushroom appy was ordinary but the accompanying sauce was tasty and I sopped it up with my bread. Our main entrees included the seafood ravioli of the night (divine!) and my chicken with eggplant, mozzerella and veggies (not fabulous, but probably my fault for trying to eat healthy in an authentic Italian place). Overall, we loved the feel of this quaint little joint- definitely a great place for a table for two or four.

Very cute, romantic interior. Good service, old school Italian feel. The bread and bruschetta they bring out to start are both good. We both got the veal which was recommended. It was very good, but thin, and not a huge portion. Overall a very good dining experience.

I got takeout here. The staff is super, super friendly here. They are chatty, but not in an annoying way. Very nice guys. The food was pretty good. The pesto ravioli was good stuff. I ordered the linguine with scallops and artichokes, but I got the fettuccine with scallops and shrimp. It was fine, but it wasn't what I ordered. It happens. The food prices were about average. I'd like to come back and actually eat in here. I probably will...

With respect to quality, atmosphere, decor, and presentation, Nino's is comparable to its neighbor, Alfredo's. However, I prefer Alfredo's (partly because of Alfredo's unlimited garlic bread, which I find addictive). Nino's provides complimentary fresh-baked bread, butter, and bruschetta to start off your meal. While good, these were quite basic. 3.5 stars. We ordered the: baked clams oreganata - excellent, creamy, savoury, and fresh. I really liked this appetizer. 4 stars. Vitello Saltimbocca - This was a more complex dish, with bold aromatic flavors. I enjoyed the combination of veal, white wine sauce, fresh sage, and prosciutto di Parma. 4.5 stars. penne with cream sauce and parmesan (side pasta dish) - very basic but delicious. about the same quality as Figo. 4 stars. Nino's [veal and spinach] cannelloni - The veal inside my cannelloni was well-done and dry, which I found disappointing. This cannelloni seemed less fattening than the cannellonis I have ordered at other Italian restaurants, specifically Alfredo's, Maggiano's, and La Tavola Trattoria. However Nino's cannelloni was also noticeably blander, perhaps because the veal was not well seasoned. 3 stars. Bailey's Irish creme Cheesecake - It looked homemade, but this was really good with strong Irish Creme flavor. 4 stars. Overall, Nino's is not bad. Our server did not put on any pretentious airs; he had a decidedly Southern accent.

Appalled that anyone pushed "send" on a four-star review. Food is "North End and "Goodfellas"-worthy. I mean that as a total compliment. Hanover Street...you have nothing over Niño's Cucina Italiana. A Southern "must-eat".

Oh my goodness this place is the real deal. It is an authentic Italian restaurant that seems family owned. I had the shrimp Alfredo and let me just say that it was so good. The Alfredo sauce was definitely made fun scratch. I am a person who perused myself on being able to make a great Alfredo sauce from scratch but this Alfredo was so fresh and good. The pasta was cooked to perfection and the ambiance was so beautiful. I would definitely recommend this place to anybody who wants to have a good, authentic Italian meal.

I don't know why I havn't made it here before. This place has been around quite a while! (they actually claim to be the first Italian Restaurant in Atlanta!) but who's to argue when you have some of the most amazing pasta dishes around? I ordered the Gnocchi and I will tell you.... YUM! It took all of me to not lick the plate clean. I came here with a priest from my church, and it was like a scene straight out of the movies. A small homey italian restaurant probably run by a family mob, and secret menus that only Catholic priests know about. I loved it! Will be back again.

We went here with our children on a Monday night. Being tourists in a new city, we always like to sample local restaurants that are off the beaten path, not the chain places we could go to at home. Nino's came highly recommended by the Yelp nation, so we figured, why not? When we pulled up the parking lot was nearly empty (this says a lot in my mind), but we were committed at that point. The building is nothing fancy to look at. Inside is so dimly lit that we could barely see, so we went to the enclosed patio which was very nice. And this is where they began working their magic. Service was superb. Our waiter interacted with our children, calling them by name. The menu was difficult for the kids to read, but we helped them understand what was what. The food... amazing! It was a little pricey, but the meal and the experience was well worth it.

My family has been coming here since moving down from buffalo, New York 20 years ago. Being fully Italian, we are quite critical on "Italian" restaurants. Nino's definitely delivers with a nice, dimly lit romantic atmosphere and delicious genuine food. Known tony and his family for a long time now and anytime I make it out for dinner is such a treat! Highly recommend!

We stopped in on a weeknight and really enjoyed our visit. The restaurant is very small inside but it definitely feels like you are eating in an italian living room. The wait staff was attentive and really friendly. They seem to lean toward serving alot of veal so in figuring it was their specialty I ordered it marsala style. It was real good and I also liked the caesar salad. We also got the pesto ravioli which I would also order again for sure. Next time Ill have to try the calamari which looked awesome and another veal specialty. My favorite place for Italian in Atlanta, go check it out.

I absolutely adore this establishment!! I took my mom here for mother's day and the food was delish!! For our appetizer we had calamari and for dinner I had the seafood ravioli (special dish) and she had the lasagna. Not only was the food good but so was the tiramisu and the wine just warmed my heart! The service was awesome and the atmosphere is rather intimate! Loved it!! I know I took my mom here but this is a PERFECT date spot fellas!! (Hint, Hint) I will definitely be back at Nino's sooner than later!!

Really enjoyed our meal the other night. Complimentary bruschetta and warm bread was a great way to start the meal! Calimari appetizer was fresh and not greasy. Three diff pasta dishes of eggplant parm, orchietta, and spaghetti...and all were tasty and filling. The dessert almond torte is delicious. Will definitely be returning.

Mediocre at best. This restaurant is marketed as the oldest Italian restaurant in the city.. so you would expect it to be amazing right? Ehhh.. The restaurant is SO dimly lit that my middle aged mother struggled (as I did too!) to read the menu. They are obviously going for an intimate/romantic ambiance but it is ridiculously dark in there. The entrees are pricey so my expectations were immediately set high. I ordered a $19 pasta dish with shrimp and scallops in a light cream sauce. The sauce was overloaded with butter to the point that oil was separating at the top of my dish which instantly made me feel uneasy. My sister ordered the pasta alla vodka which was "decent" but she said she preferred Brio's version of the dish. They do offer complimentary bruschetta (while you attempt to read the menu) which was very tasty. Overall, I don't think I will go back. Atlanta has hundreds of other restaurants that I would much rather try... Sorry Nino's!

Old School Italian in Atlanta I was skeptical........ It worked, Nino's has been around since 1968 originally from the Amalfi Coast. The service was excellent, the food authentic Italian, the atmosphere was way old school but I loved it. The music was all Italian all the time. The wine was amazing, Calamari, Mussels and Mushroom appetizers were all perfect. Lentil soup reminded me of my mothers. Angel hair with Shrimp and Spinach in a light cream sauce was just perfect. I loved the freshly grated Parmesan Cheese table side nice touch. I love the simplicity of Italian food when done just right. Bravo Nino keep up the good work! Ciao!

Went for dinner. Ordered: - chicken alessandro(sp?) w/ spaghetti - penne vodka - house salad - complimentary bread, butter, and bruschetta: rolls come out hoooot! Watch out, now! Bruschetta is very good. It's the first time I haven't cut up the roof of my mouth stuffing an entire serving of bruschetta in. - tap water Food was pretty tasty. However, the service... *sigh. Our main server became more and more rude as time passed. Examples of rudeness: attempting to clear plates before diners were done eating; demanding to diner, "hand me that [used] fork!"; angry/brusque tone of voice (voice was not like that in the beginning); setting out utensils and touching the fork heads with hands in front of customers... Haha, now we're into quibbles. Anyway. We were there less than an hour. I think the server's issues with us: 1. Did not order alcohol. 2. Did not order an entree per person. But, does that mean we should receive such terrible service? Hell no! Restaurant was only just picking up in pace, yet, no one stopped by to ask us how everything was. The food was good, but not good enough to suffer through bad service.

Great neighborhood place! The shrimp scampi and penne alla vodka are fantastic and it is a cozy, relaxed atmosphere. Mussel appetizer and spinach salad are also great. My new favorite go to for a nice night out with my husband.

I can never get enough of this place!! Love Love Love it. Driving by you could easily miss it in my opinion but once inside it is so cozy and romantic. The service is amazing along with the food. Go there and order the Fettucine alla michela and I promise you'll be coming back for more!

Good food, charming atmosphere, but overpriced! Penne alla vodka, lasagna, and 1 dessert already added up to $50 +. I'm glad I used my scout mob. I came early for dinner but soon after It got busy. Service could be improved as well. We were waiting around because they didn't have enough servers. I would only come back with scout mob.

I made my hubby go get us takeout italian and he came back with Nino's. This place is pretty good, I had the pesto ravioli which was really good, my hubby's fettucine with scallops and shrimp was not as good but still ok. I am used to Italian restaurants overfeeding me and this was just about the right amount of food... no leftovers though so order extra if you are really hungry! A-OK!

First let me say that this restaurant is very special to me. It was the first place that my dad ever took my mom on a date, and I have been going here with my family since I was a little kid. We know the family who owns it and they have always treated us very well when we have gone here for dinner. Therefore, I will admit that my opinion might be biased. I really think that this is the best Italian food that you will find in Atlanta. Everything on the menu is a winner. They have always been good about using just the right amount of sauce and seasonings and cooking everything to perfection, which I think are the hardest things for a restaurant to get right. One thing that I think separates Nino's from the other Italian restaurants that I have been to in Atlanta is their veal. It has always been tender enough to cut with a spoon. Veal should be prepared no other way, and Nino's is the only Italian restaurant that I have been to around here that gets it right. I love Alfredo's (an Italian restaurant that is right down the street from them and is almost as old), but not even their veal is as good (though I will admit that I like Alfredo's garlic bread better). I would be lying if I said that this place is cheap. It isn't. But they do bring you a pretty generous amount of bruschetta and bread and butter to start your meal. Last but certainly not least is the dessert cart. Over the years I have had probably everything on it: coconut cake, cheesecake, carrot cake, tiramisu, profiterole, flan, and a few others. They're all homemade and you can't go wrong with any of them. If I have to say anything critical of Nino's it is that the portions are kind of small for the price. But then again, I am a big eater, so most people will probably still leave with a doggy bag. I still believe that this is the best Italian restaurant in Atlanta, so I recommend it for a date or a night out with friends and family. But if you're more of an Alfredo's person then I certainly understand.

Despite all the other incredibly classy offerings on Cheshire-Bridge, Nino's is a family favorite and for good reason - it's classic, old-school Italian that is done really well. It feels like a family-run business and has been operating for a long time. The restaurant has certainly been perfected over the years. Everything is great here - from the service to the food. All the food I've had here has been in the good to great range. You won't find any modern Italian cuisine or a trendy vibe here. It is a classy, timeless restaurant and an Atlanta landmark. 4.5

Italian is one of my favorite types of food and this is my favorite thus far in Atlanta. (Better than BLG's Veni Vidi Vici!) We came here because there was a Scout Mob deal. Otherwise, we would probably have never ventured up to Cheshire Bridge with all of those classy strip clubs. We had a reservation and when we arrived they informed us that a table was ready, but if we'd prefer a booth (yes, please!) they could have on ready for us in just a moment. So we had a seat at the bar and got retrogradations for dinner from the bartender, who's been there for apparently longer than forever. Shortly after, we were shown our comfortable booth and a basket of DELICIOUS rolls were brought out. I ordered the beef and arugula salad for an appetizer and it was perfect. The beef was great, fresh arugula, and a great balance of dressing to salad. (I am very anti-having lots of dressing on my salads, so if you're a dressing lover, you may feel it is lacking. Try it though, dried beef and arugula is such a flavorful combination, it doesn't need much.) Matthew had a half penne serving as an appetizer, which was good, but I was so focused on my delicious salad I didn't really pay much attention when I tried it. For my entrée, I had the pasta special which was spinach ravioli with butternut squash and ricotta. (Side note: stuffed pasta is my favorite. Were I to be stranded on a desert island for the rest of my life, this is all I'd need to keep me happy. And perhaps a volleyball. I also have a love affair with any and all fall squashes (butternut, acorn, pumpkin), so this dish and I were destined to be best friends.) Needless to say, it was perfect. Again, not 100% sure what Matthew ate for dinner. I was THAT focused on my delish raviolis. I'm fairly positive that it was veal Parmesan. Whatever he had, he liked it because there were not leftovers. We had a cannoli for dessert, which was okay. I'm not a huge cannoli fan, but I didn't argue with the choice because I didn't have much room for the course. There was a delicious looking chocolate cake when we came in, but it had disappeared by the time it was time to order, so I'll have to snatch some of that next time. Something MUST be said about the staff of Nino's. They were wonderful. From the hosts to the bartender to our waiter to the short man with the dessert cart everyone seemed to absolutely love their job (and I loved that the place wasn't staffed by a bunch of kids in high school). I cannot wait to go back and try some more fabulous food (and that chocolate cake! mmmm).

The ambiance was great! Very quiet, a little too dark for me. I couldn't even read the menu off the candle light on the table but nothing biggie. The food was good however, the service was way slow for a monday night! For some reason, the server kept pushing me to order appetizers or something else apart from the main entree. I certainly would mention that parking is a bit difficult unless the adjacent lot is available too! Scoutmob discount was the icing on top!

I went here for my birthday because I wanted something a little special, and charming and delicious is what I got. First my salad was great, then the pasta was the best I've ever had, and then the cannoli and coffee was to die for. I will give you that I haven't been to many fancy restaurants, and maybe my memories of the place are a bit caught up in the lighting, music, wonderful waiter, and fact I was in such a good mood on my 16th birthday, but still the place was very enjoyable. While I could see that some of the things in Nino's were a bit aged, like the wall paper, floor ect, the atmosphere didn't loose a thing. When we went it was around December, and it was fairly crowded for a small little thing, so I would suggest reservations if you have your heart set on Nino's. The waiter was so nice to me, that even though I was full, he brought me a piece of his favorite cake, to take home later, on the house. Now that's service! I dream of going to Nino's again, so please go and make sure it stays afloat in this economy of ours.

I enjoyed the atmosphere at Nino's. Was dimly lit but inviting. The hostess and wait staff were very polite and welcoming. The bread was hard as a rock. The sauteed mussels were decent. The salmon pasta (Fettuccine Nino) was absolutely DELICIOUS omg but...there was literally four small chunks of this scotch-smoked goodness. To my dismay, after the first few bites it was gone! Not sure if I would come back. I am leaning toward no.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
