Great menu options and prices. Build your burgers how you want 'em! Excellent choice of fresh ingredients and sauces. (Love the chipotle mayo!) Fresh fries and beer-battered onion rings are fantastic, but eat 'em while they're hot! Over all a great spot for those craving a great burger!

Good size burgers! I ordered a single hamburger and my husband ordered the double burger, we ended up buying another one since the meat size seems a bit smaller. We liked the fries, the guacamole looked old, brown color and tasted not fresh. Nice place, a bit overpriced for a burger place, though.

When we walked in I immediately became excited because the menu read "eat me, all of me" (not literally...that's what my eyes read). Our cashier was extraordinarily patient & nice as we took forever to order since this was our 1st time there. I ordered a single cheeseburger with s'mack sauce, pickles, lettuce, & grilled onions. And of course, I order garlic Parmesan fries (because they were voted best in Sarasota). My husband ordered the single bison burger w/onion rings Well, I was unpleasantly underwhelmed. My burger was good but the burger to bun ratio was off but I'd like to add that the bun was delicious. And I had to add ketchup because there wasn't much s'mack sauce. And those "award winning french fries" lost terribly today. The fries were overcooked and disgustingly greasy. The onion rings were just as if not more greasy but worst off all flavorless....FLAVORLESS onion rings? The tempura like batter had no seasoning, I literally barely tasted the onion. SMH...Over $22 for less than average food. Oh well, I'm hoping that today was just an off day. If I go back I'll get a double burger & a cheese fry to be safe.

After a long day at the beach we decided to YELP burger places in town. Shore diner was our first choice, however, since all of were starving, there was no way we will drive to St. Armand's circle, fight to find a parking spilt then most likely wait for 30 minutes to get a table. Back to S'macks burger, very clean place, super friendly staff, self explanatory menu. Meat wise, they offer all naturals hormone free beef patties, can't wrong with that, then you can pick your bun, your cheese, a wide selection of free toppings and finally your fries and drinks. Burgers were awesome, fries were good but have had better. Only negative thing about this trip is the side of guacamole, it was a very tiny cup, one you would put your ketchup in, not fresh at all as shown in a picture posted and it cost $1.99, for that much money, we expected at least a chipotle size portion.

First of all, I don't write reviews... But this place deserves it. The staff here is incredibly helpful and the food is beyond amazing. Pro tips: If you're not snagging a shake, you're doing it wrong... Texas Toast is well worth the extra 65 cents...

I'll keep this simple and to the point. 1. Burgers are great, love them. Topping choices were excellent. 2. Shakes and Custard, Even better. I love custard and they do a great job. 3. Fries - Good. For the life of me, I just do not understand at all how they were Sarasota's Best Fries. They are a good, but best....I don't think so. 4. Chili -- Very Disappointing. My wife ordered a BOWL of chili, but received a cup. Since they did not give us an itemized receipt with the individual prices, we did not catch their mistake. When my wife took it back to the counter, she was told they entered a cup of chili and essentially it was our problem. My wife took home the empty cup of chili. Guess what, we measured out water in their cup and it was only 6 ounces and not the 8 ounces that equal a cup. A cup equals 8 ounces and that is not up for interpretation, that is a standard of measurement. If they want to serve a 6 ounce chili, they should be honest and call it a small order of chili. From my perspective as a customer and the fact that I have owned business in the retail and service sectors. When my company made a mistake, we fixed it at our expense period. Guess that level of customer service is lacking here. We won't be back, even worse, they have become invisible on my radar. which is bad, because we live very close to them.

Great burger joint. Just gets better and better every time I go here. Burgers are a little on the small side so I'd suggest getting a double. A-plus for the locally sourced bison and make your own burger format. Gluten free buns, lettuce wrap, you name it...it's sure to please. Custard is tasty too, and the place has a good old fashioned "hang out" vibe. All the employees of late are super friendly and accommodating, smiling, attentive and helpful. I love the sweet potato fries too. Smacks nails it.

My family and I love this place! We come here at least once a month, which is a lot for us, eating out burgers. We love the variety of toppings and the fire fries are awesome. Everything is clean, fresh and the best part is everything is bought locally.

Had to share... Got my usual double portobello with blue cheese and bacon. Parents picked it up for me.. and It was AWFUL! I was shocked.. no bacon... the blue cheese was barely there and the bun was soggy. I don't normally call and complain bit since I go there often I felt the need to. I am not sure who I spoke with (I should have asked.. but seemed like a manager) he not only had the kitchen make me a brand new burger at no cost HE ACTUALLY DELIVERED IT TO MY HOUSE!! Wow, thats what I call GREAT service. They DO NOT DO home deliveries but this guy said if they mess up that bad then he is happy to deliver. :-) THANKS S'MACKS!

grew up in srq but live in NYC... This is like a mix between shake shack, and lucky burger, and five guys from NYC. So what I'm saying is fucking go here it's amazing. Get a burger with whatever you want on it. Get the parm garlic fries. Get the campfire Nutella smores custard Get the ice coffee (is actually quite good) Get and extra stomach.

Smacks as always knocks custards shakes out of the park, though the concrete mixers aren't bad either, and the garlic herb parm fries are to pretty tasty as well.

If I lived closer to Smacks, they'd have to start rolling me in and out of the joint because of how much--and often--I'd eat there. Burgers, fries (spring for the garlic Parmesan) custard...it's all freaking delicious. (Whoever comes up with the custard flavored is an evil genius. Fried Oreo? Peeps? Yes, please.) The decor is adorable, and the service is always, always above and beyond. Totally comparable to (even better than?) Shake Shack, if you're the NYC type. Oh, and the owner's kind of dreamy. (If you read this, why yes, I am currently single!)

Great little place with VERY friendly staff.. The food quality is great the salads are fresh! And the frozen custard is off the charts

The burgers and desserts are really good. The Smack sauce is great on fries. Don't be fooled by a $ price rating, this place is very expensive when compared to similar establishments like Steak n Shake or Freddy's.

I enjoy this place a lot. Everything is fresh and made to order and they also support local farmers! Many options for burgers and toppings and buns. Gluten free is an option. And the custard is awesome!!

Best hot dogs from Greiers. Frozen custards make amazing milkshakes, desserts, and custards. Nice outdoor seating for dogs.

Arghhhh. TOTALLY unacceptable! I ate an awesome lunch here and completely forgot to take photos. Darn pregnancy brain. I will definitely need to go back asap to have the same meal again so I can provide the lovely, mouth-watering pics that should go with this entry. Please forgive me! Anyway, It was a GREAT meal! My father had recently stopped in and raved about the custard. He is like me in that when he finds a noteworthy meal or food, he basically insists that you take him seriously and go try it for yourself. Luckily, I am not one to deny the man the pleasure of passing on a new and delicious discovery to someone else. I stopped in and was pleased to find plenty of vegetarian options on the menu. I was also really pleased to see that almost all of the ingredients on the menu are locally sourced from farmers in the area. Very cool- and especially cool to see the map on the wall showing where each ingredient comes from. I easily decided on a portobello mushroom with a slice of provolone, pickles, 'S'macks' sauce (which is basically a kicked up mayo), lettuce, and tomatoes all on a yummy potato bun. I also ordered a side of fries and a lemonade. As I went to sit down to wait for my order, the owner was walking around passing out samples of their coconut custard and I couldn't possibly turn that down. WOW. Super creamy with that hint of coconut threaded texture, just the right amount of sweet, the perfect temperature and consistency. Dad was right, it's sooooooo good. If I hadn't already told myself that the fries were the indulgence I was allowing myself today, I would totally have ordered a cup of the custard after I ate lunch. So then my meal arrived at my table looking amazing. The portobello sandwich was perfect- juicy mushroom, not drowning in cheese and sauce, topped with pickles and the fresh veggies that I requested. The fries were crispy and hot, crinkle cut, and super fresh. I was going to have this with my lemonade, but the owner brought me some peach iced tea that was refreshing and ice cold and it went really well with my meal..so I alternated between the two drinks. Even though I was stuffed at this point, how could I turn down the incredible coconut/chocolate shake he also brought over when I was done eating lunch?? I was only going to have a sip to taste it but....Well, the end of that story goes as predictably as you'd imagine. Overall, I am DEFINITELY a fan of S'macks and will surely be back soon. Actually, today is my day off from work and writing this entry up has sparked a craving...so I may just make it over there later today. Give it a try!

Absolutely horrible. I'll have the $10 bison burger with no flavor or service please. Can not believe this place is open. The help is way to busy with there social lives to serve the customers. Totally terrible.

so being as that I loved the custard so much we returned during the slow part of the day. ordered the original smack custard with the honey smacks cereal. three bucks for one tiny scoop, just to start. we literally watched in disbelief this 17ish year old kid take twenty minutes for two ice creams which had three ingredients each! i was so mad i learned what was in my smacks custard and made it at home using vanilla icecream, honey smacks cereal, cinnamon, and honey! service is horrible, cooks and employees dont care. probably wont be returning.

5 stars based on the parmesan garlic fries alone. Holy cow. What a simple idea executed perfectly.

Yummy custard, great location, service is "meh". They have a great concept, and really nifty decor. Not too trendy, not too cute, just right -- and really clean. It's kind of an "upscale" DairyQueen, without the soft serve. Their main claim to fame is burgers. Didn't try any on this visit, but they had the most AMAZING selection ... not just the usual meat, but also off-the-beaten-path black bean and other alternate selections. The menu is very easy to understand, and so is the "how to order". We visited on a Wednesday evening, ~9:15 pm. Two employees were sitting at a table having dinner, while a third was on a ladder cleaning light fixtures. No one at the counter or in the kitchen. The young woman got up from her dinner to take our order, and the order from another couple. Then she returned to her meal in the dining room. A worker magically appeared in the kitchen, and started the first order, while a manager came out from the back and started cleaning and tidying the counter area. After the first order was delivered (hot food), the manager decided to dish up our one single scoop ice cream. Not sure that was good service/management on his part ... especially since we had to wait for our order until after burger and fries were prepared, bagged and handed over. We'll try them again, but will be cautious of the marginal service.

I was expecting much better! I ordered a basic bacon burger. Med well with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles. I got an under cooked burger on a soggy bun. The burger wasn't even hot. It's like the burger was pre cooked and then kept in a heat box.I ordered my 3 year old a cheeseburger. While eating it , he kept telling me, mom this burger is yucky. At first, I thought he was just being a typical picky 3 year old but I looked at his burger and it was raw and bloody inside. I'm so glad I looked other wise he could have gotten really sick. That makes me so mad!! The French fries were awful. They were so under cooked and very greasy. I will not ever go back to this place. Mom's check your kids burgers before letting them eat..

Just ate at Smacks for the first time and the food was Great! We each had a burger and both were juicy and very tasty, our fries crispy and light. We both had custard for desert and it was creamy and full of flavor, it reminded me of a place in Ohio called East Coast Custard....Outstanding!

A new addition to sarasotas locally owned restraunt scene, s'macks is a reimagned take on the burger joint. All ingredients are purchased from individually owned Florida owned producers and the quality shows. Would have given 5 stars but one of the two of the 6 orders in my group came out wrong. I'm sure it's a kink that will get worked out though. Overall I must recommend!

Ok, I am officially obsessed with this place!!! Smack's burgers + chocolate custard shakes + hand cut garlic Parmesan fries = heaven. Yum! Also love the old-school Sarasota throwback nod. Five stars!

Can't get enough of S'macks! I love that I can go if I feel like being healthy without sacrificing taste and grab a bison burger on a lettuce "bun" or if I want to indulge in a bacon cheeseburger and lots of chocolate custard with Nutella. As far as indulgences go, this one's pretty guiltless. Everything is fresh, natural, hormone and antibiotic free to it doesn't leave me with a gross, chemical feeling like other places. I like supporting a locally owned business, especially one that supports other local businesses, like Honeyside Farms and Perq Coffee Bar (gingerbread latte custard made onsite with local coffee-yum!) Their fun specials and homemade custard flavors warrant lots of return trips. Become a regular and get in on some seriously delicious "secret menu" concoctions. Quick in and out, but nice enough atmosphere that you can hangout and catch up with friends over milkshakes and crinkle fries.

I was looking forward to the S'macks opening. Unfortunately for S'macks, there are better burgers in town. I picked up 3 burgers, each one a little different, one busy weeknight. I was disappointed. Sloppy, pretty tasteless, and kind of pricey for what you get. 3 burgers and 2 orders of fries- 29$. I have not tried the hot dogs or the custard. I will try again because I love to see local folks do well and support the independents. I can see this being a good place to go, on occasion, after a day at the beach for the family.

This is a new venture for the Gecko's family of restaurants, BUT there is a reason these places have different names because they are DIFFERENT RESTAURANTS. My friends and I are Gecko's regulars, but we didn't come here looking for that type of food. I walked in and felt immediately like it was more like a Chipotle from the way you order all the way to being a place that offers more quality ingredients then their cheaper counterparts like McDonald's or Wendy's in a cleaner, more polite, welcoming environment. I really liked the Smacks sauce - it's mayo-based with spices that have a very very mild kick that gives great flavor. Free refills on drinks including fresh lemonade and strawberry lemonade that are very good. Good prices, ~$7 for a cheeseburger, fries and a drink here (~$9.50 for a double), again like someone would pay at Chipotle for a meal. I'll be back to try more stuff! They are a newer restaurant that is living and learning from some things people seem to be harping on them for in earlier reviews.

I always am up for trying a burger , especially at a burger joint. Extremely disappointed. My daughter and I had burgers that were almost raw in the middle. I was hoping the fries would be decent, but they were hopelessly average.

Fresh, local, all-American cuisine meets superior-quality service in a clean, hip venue. As a food snot, I sometimes have a hard time warming up to diner fare, but the resurrection of a venerable Sarasota eatery, S'macks, puts a fresh take on the classics and would not disappoint even the most highbrow or high-minded among us. With an all-star cast of clean, polite, enthusiastic employees, and an endless and fresh line-up of cuisine choices, S'macks is a winner in every category. Everything you are served here has been carefully considered, and when possible, locally sourced. While the quality of many mainstream food sources is deteriorating, it's nice to be able to sit down in a chic, fun atmosphere and enjoy fare you can still feel good about eating and feeding to your family. S'macks is owned by a hardworking local family with a fabulous and well-earned hospitality reputation so you can even be a good citizen by patronizing them. Everything about your experience there has been thoughtfully considered, and the value you receive for your money is unsurpassed, both locally or anywhere else. The colorful and ever-changing menu of frozen custard (like ice cream, only better), the S'mack'sburger, the portobello burger, the incomparable hot dogs, the fresh-squeezed lemonade and the tater tots are a few of my family's favorites. The ice there is even better than anywhere else. The wait is never long and the staff is always happy to see you. Treat yourself to your first visit, and you'll be hooked forever on the best food, at the most customer-friendly place in town.

My wife and i stopped in for lunch while in town. The burgers and fries were ok, but nothing special. I prefer Five Guys or BurgerFi. The portion was a little small and I should have ordered a double. The custard was good and I was happy to see that they offered Mexican Chocolate the day that we were there.

Always fast service. A little more expensive than a regular fast food place but so worth it. They source local business for their ingredients when possible and that matters to me.

In and out quick, easy to order, fresh all natural burgers were delicious, plus their custard was a great finisher. Affordable and worth dining at.

If I were writing this review when they first opened, I would have given them 5 stars. Unfortunately, I feel like the quality of their burgers has dropped off significantly. I still love their fries. The Epic Fries or just the bacon cheese fries are delicious. The garlic parm fries are good too. The fries themselves are a great texture inside and out. I also love the customizable toppings! The burgers are the downer! The last few visits they have been dried out... relying on toppings for edibility. I also feel like the cook time is excessive even when they aren't busy. The staff has made mistakes on my order the last few visits and haven't even apologized for the errors. The lemonade is great and the custard is good most of the time... some flavors just don't work, but kudos for trying. A burger joint should have good burgers though. I hope they return to their original quality or I'll stick with fries and custard.

5 stars for a burger joint can only mean one thing. Killer value, killer product, attention to detail, great service, and overall an experience I look forward to repeating. (Widescreen Tvs with Sportscenter = extra points!) S'macks has quietly opened their doors today for the first time. When walking into a new menu situation I freak out and dont want to make any decisions. My go to response is just to ask what the crowd favorite is and put my faith into it. This run I ended up with the S'mack Burger, garlic parmesan fries, and (as a refreshing burger joint change of pace) lemonade. Fries being hand cut were very impressive! With the perfect balance of garlic and parmesan, they lived up to the hype with plenty of room for forgiveness. The burgers were next to perfect! One of my pet peeves are places that put enough tomato and lettuce inside that you could make a salad and it kills the experience, but not here!! The S'mack sauce was very interesting! I had it on the burger but wasnt able to put my finger on any one ingredient yet. Next time I go in and have it on the burger or with fries I will try to see what it is really all about, but that is part of the genius behind it. There was no overwhelming taste of mayo, ketchup, or other "secret sauce" ingredients. Next time we try the frozen custard, portobello burger, and bison burger. Wont lie... kinda geeked about a burger place. That just sounds like something someone else would say, but not me.

  • Meagan P.

The burgers were excellent, great beef, all the ingredients were quality. The frys were so-so, I had parmesan garlic and would have been okay without them. we also had onion rings they were good, not great. For sure what makes this a great place is the burgers.

  • Sarah P.

Was craving a burger and found this place. Seriously the best burger I've had in Florida. Not to mention the champagne and chambord malt for dessert! Not only does this place have awesome food, you can get gluten free as well! Would recommend to anyone coming to sarasota! I wish we lived closer to this place!

  • Meghan D.

I had a bacon bison burger with a lettuce wrap instead of a bun, and fries. The food is pricey, but I'm willing to pay it for locally sourced food and Grassfed Bison. I thought everything was tasty. My only criticism is that my "wrap" came to me as more of a salad; two patties and bacon laid on top of lettuce. If wrap is in the name, then I should be able to eat it with my hands, not a fork. Other than that, I'll definitely be going back, at least to try the custard and the parmesean fries.

    (4)
  • Jennifer K.

Great casual place for a good burger and fries. Healthy selection as most of the items are locally grown. I usually get chicken patty lettuce wrap with American cheese. Im not a lettuce wrap fan but here I am!! Variety of handmade custard flavors.

  • Alex P.

I've been here a few times as this is one of the few places in town that offers Bison on the menu. I get the single bison burger every time and it's always delicious! Their fries are pretty good too. Their bison meat is provided by Three Suns Ranch - where the bison are grass-fed while being allowed to actually roam around in large pastures. Bison is a great lean alternative to beef and I'm so glad I found a place in Sarasota that provides such a great bison burger. The prices are extremely reasonable and the service is very quick and friendly. The decor is also very clean, trendy, and inviting. If you're looking for a quick, cheap, and delicious burger - I definitely recommend Smacks!

I thought this place was great! I had a single burger with mayo .lettuce, ketchup red onion, sort of like a California burger.Fries were very good, hot ,crispy.Place was clean and a little kitchy. Some people complain the burgers are small.THEY ARE 3.50 EACH.Go eat a 15.00 burger nd complain, or get 2 .I suppose they are trying to catch the artisnal hamburger thing like shake shack, bcbg, smashburger etc.More power to them , now PLEASE OPEN IN FT LAUDERDALE.

I can't judge on their fries or custard, but their burger was perfectly delicious. It's comparable to Five Guys, with more topping and bun/bread options. Definitely recommend.

Well trained staff. Great food, absolutely delicious. A lot of options. Good prices for locally grown, organic and grass fed ingredients. Very clean. Wish we found this place sooner!

We visited S'macks for dinner tonight - I had a bison burger, and hubs had a cheeseburger on Texas Toast. Both meals were good (I love that the bison is grass-fed and local, and there are options for customizing like lettuce wraps, or GF bread) but the portions are definitely on the smaller side for the cost, and there are lots of up-charges. The dining room is quite small - the restaurant wasn't super busy, but the lack of seating made it feel cramped. There is outdoor seating, but the busy road outside isn't exactly the most appealing for dining al fresco. We might come back another time to try the custard.

Nicely done .....my burger landed a bit pink and the bun was perfect. Excellent beef flavor. Fries are hand cut, too. Worth eating! Would have given them a fifth star if I could order a beer or other adult beverage ;)

I got there 20 minutes before they opened. I was surprised that they said come on in we are ready for you. With a smile:) that was just good customer service. My food was perfect. Love this place.

  • Greg C.

A medium sized burger on potatoes bun was just average. The reason for the low rating was for the frozen custard. I do believe they use a type of guar gum in the mix. It leaves a thick gooey aftertaste in your mouth. That is not true frozen custard. Sweetberries is much better.

  • Dylan R.

Everything about this place is awesome. The burgers are some of the best I've ever had. The fries with nothing on them are mediocre but they have really good toppings so when you get some cheese on them and what ever else sounds good to you you'll swear they're some of the best fries you've ever had. Haven't tried the custard yet will have to go back. All in all great place to go eat highly recommend.

You are able to customize your order/sandwich choice. The cheese fries with bacon were awesome! Burgers were good and great service! We had a couple of their custard varieties. Our favorite was vanilla custard with graham crackers, honey and cinnamon.

This was my first visit to S'macks and was excited to stop by. We dine inside with the kids and service was great. The food was brought out to our table which is a nice service. Next, the food came out under 10 minutes. However, the food was a bit pricey for the portions given. Pros: Chicken tenders were good tender and moist. Atmosphere was great. Cons: Portion size was poor. Single Bison burger was over priced. Advice: Lower prices for combo or increase portion size.

I really wanted to like this place. I really did. After Shake Shack in NYC and Burger Fi in Orlando, I thought for sure Sarasota would be getting a gem. Here's why I just can't bring myself to go back. Imagine a sub-par hospitality chain deciding to steal a successful restaurant idea. Look no further than Gecko's for tasteless pub fare for the common man without time or taste-buds. They decided to rebrand the Shake Shack idea, although retaining the actual original menu items, and serve up sloppy seconds called S'macks to local Sarasotans who don't know better. Can we start with the branding? My cat could have created a better logo and identity package. It is neither imaginative or appealing. The decor is new, clean, comfortable, but the doors are super-weird. Two exit doors that tell you to keep moving to the one entrance door. No place to stand around to wait for your take out order without getting in the way of the drink station, doors, or trash can. There's an odd chalkboard that stops the flow of traffic right in the middle of the line. Put a menu there. That'd be helpful. The staff was friendly and helpful. That's where this place got the second star. We went in on a Saturday at noon. No line. Pretty quick ordering, but the girl didn't know what "carmelized onions" meant. She actually said, "I don't know what that means." Grilled onions were my only option. Those of you who are foodies know the difference, and it's a big one. We ordered three S'mackburgers with a variety of toppings and two fries, one well-done and one regular. She asked if Medium would be fine for the burgers and we agreed. On the whole, the burgers were....super-boring. They were all dry, cooked Medium-Well with no pink in them at all. I guess that's why they need the S'macks sauce. The chipotle mayo was good but if you're not expecting heat, it'll kick you in the pants. On a scale of 1-10 the three of us agreed on a solid 3 for quality of meat and cooking treatment. Order your fries well-done and get them crispy or you'll be staring at some super-soft potatoes. If you forget to order them that way, take the soft ones back and get them done over. This is America. You can return french fries if you want to and you should. For dessert, we got a mini "concrete." Yes, they actually stole the same name from Shake Shack. Danny Meyer would be appalled at what I was served. The Ringling Zinger was a sloppy, spilled mess of half-melted vanilla ice cream and frozen, tasteless berries. The kid making the thing had it all over himself and the counter and the machine. Here's one more tip. Stop serving frozen food. Use fresh. Seriously, this isn't rocket science. Quit with the frozen strawberries and frozen blueberries. Also, more than two animal crackers are required. And the mini is ridiculously overpriced at $3.25 for one scoop of ice cream. You're not paying for something that's locally sourced or hand-churned. Save your money and head over to Big Olaf's for dessert, you'll thank me. I feel like writing a letter of apology to Danny Meyer for this place even existing. It would begin, "I'm sorry, sir. I'm so sorry. But, I must report a crime." Thankfully, a new Shack Shack is opening in Orlando.

If you are a big eater like me make sure you get the double since they are on the small side. Fries are tasty and the sobe pom drink is awesome. Tried the custard and it is good. The only thing i did not like were the onion rings, as i bit into them the grease gushed out. If not for that i would have given a 5.

Can I just say..frozen custard milkshakes. Um...awesome. We popped into Smack's to grab a milkshake, since my husband was desperate for one. We were completely impressed. Smack's offers locally grown, butchered and pasteurized products. The do not have ice cream. They have custard...and if you are from a custard eating state, you know it's smoother and creamier than ice cream. It's simply delicious in a milk shake. We have gone back for burgers and fries, which were really tasty, as well. They offer bison and ground beef burgers. Try the bison, it's worth the few extra dollars. Also, the iced teas they have fresh brewed were surprisingly tasty. Pros: Great frozen custard, all locally grown produce, meats (including bison) and dairy products, fun and playful atmosphere, kid friendly, and just plain yummy burgers and fries Cons: Parking can be tight, but not impossible. If it's dinner time, you will wait in line to order...and it may not be super quick. Don't expect McDonald's - it's not fast food, so don't expect fast at the counter food - but also don't expect a soggy, gross sad excuse for a burger either.

Ordered a bison bacon burger lettuce wrap. Bison patty was very thin and small. Lettuce wrap is two pieces of limp leaf lettuce. Would not recommend. Next time I'll try a bun and getting a double. Sweet potato fries are decent, should be crispier.

Hear Ye Hear Ye... for the history buffs of Sarasota. Back in the 1930's the name Smacks was a place to hangout and eat from local suppliers and vendors. Today, the name reappears by the owners of the famous Gecko's Grill and Pub. Truly if you want the real taste of burgers you must try S'macks... Their burgers are indeed the real thing. The taste in itself brings you to think mom is creating a ball of fresh meat for dinner with added cheese and toppings. I ordered the Chi-Dog and a Mini-burger. The dog was indeed delicious, not a Vienna Beef hot dog, but the taste is equal to or better than the original. The toppings are the same as you would find in a Chicago dog, relish, cucumber, mustard, sports peppers and tomato wedges. The wiener is split in half and the bun is a potato bun. I really liked the taste all together! Good job in creating a mock Chicago dog - your way! The burger was absolutely juicy and delicious !! The meat was a tad pink in the inside (by my request). Came with all the toppings what makes a great burger! Flavor and filling was excellent. Tried my friend's parmigiana - garlic fries!! For me, a first and really good! He ordered the double cheese burger in which I could imagine just as good as mine. Great new restaurant! The only "beef" I have with this place is that parking was a bit challenging. If you sit outside expect traffic noise. Inside is a bit small and fills pretty quick. Other than that, it was a bit pricey. This is NOT a McDonald's or a Burger King! On this case... You get what you pay for.

The burger was very good. You get to build your own burger with tons of great toppings. The service was great from the girl behind the counter to the server. And the best was the fire fries. Nice and spicy and the cheese sauce was perfect

I love that they use local ingredients and grass-fed beef. Very cute interior and exterior. Our cashier was sweet and helpful. Burgers were on the small side but good. We got lettuce wraps which made it a very messy meal. The regular fries were crispy and delicious.

Good idea and nice ice cream. The burgers are pretty good, but not great. The do offer an egg as an add-on for the burger and that's pretty nice. It's not good to take out, just stay and enjoy the food there for the best experience.

We went here with a big group and ordered a bunch of different items, including different burgers, fries, shakes and custard. All of the food was amazing! The employees were helpful and polite, and the environment was nice too. I love the emphasis on fresh, local ingredients. I can't say enough good things about S'macks.

Give it a try!

so being as that I loved the custard so much we returned during the slow part of the day. ordered the original smack custard with the honey smacks cereal. three bucks for one tiny scoop, just to start. we literally watched in disbelief this 17ish year old kid take twenty minutes for two ice creams which had three ingredients each! i was so mad i learned what was in my smacks custard and made it at home using vanilla icecream, honey smacks cereal, cinnamon, and honey! service is horrible, cooks and employees dont care. probably wont be returning.

A medium sized burger on potatoes bun was just average. The reason for the low rating was for the frozen custard. I do believe they use a type of guar gum in the mix. It leaves a thick gooey aftertaste in your mouth. That is not true frozen custard. Sweetberries is much better.

I enjoy this place a lot. Everything is fresh and made to order and they also support local farmers! Many options for burgers and toppings and buns. Gluten free is an option. And the custard is awesome!!

The burgers were excellent, great beef, all the ingredients were quality. The frys were so-so, I had parmesan garlic and would have been okay without them. we also had onion rings they were good, not great. For sure what makes this a great place is the burgers.

Great casual place for a good burger and fries. Healthy selection as most of the items are locally grown. I usually get chicken patty lettuce wrap with American cheese. Im not a lettuce wrap fan but here I am!! Variety of handmade custard flavors.

The burgers and desserts are really good. The Smack sauce is great on fries. Don't be fooled by a $ price rating, this place is very expensive when compared to similar establishments like Steak n Shake or Freddy's.

My wife and i stopped in for lunch while in town. The burgers and fries were ok, but nothing special. I prefer Five Guys or BurgerFi. If you are a big eater like me make sure you get the double since they are on the small side. Fries are tasty and the sobe pom drink is awesome. Tried the custard and it is good. The only thing i did not like were the onion rings, as i bit into them the grease gushed out. If not for that i would have given a 5.

A great variation on Burgers & Fries concept. Our family of four enjoyed the bison and cow burgers stylized our own way. Creative ways of offering fries (crinkly fries!) is a nice touch. And really good custard to end the meal. When next in town we will definitely return.

Wow, what a great first time experience. Excellent burgers, fries and shakes. Had a bison burger..locally raised. I highly recommend this place. The staff was exceptionally friendly and professional and....very easy on the eyes!

  • Krissy M.

Best hot dogs from Greiers. Frozen custards make amazing milkshakes, desserts, and custards. Nice outdoor seating for dogs.

In a word, horrible. Slimy, undercooked burger. Person at the register was clueless. First visit, last visit.

Great casual place for a good burger and fries. Healthy selection as most of the items are locally grown. I usually get chicken patty lettuce wrap with American cheese. Im not a lettuce wrap fan but here I am!! Variety of handmade custard flavors.
