Little Italy...this is not. Cafe Panuzzo's is settled in the Winn Dixie shopping center off of Lockwood Road in Oviedo. It's a cute, homey family-style italian restaurant. And by family style, I mean probably how your mom would decorate it. I had previously gotten take out from them for lunch during a workday ($5.99 special ready in 15 min or less.) I think it was the manicotti, but I can't be sure. Which, to me, means it wasn't good enough to be memorable. I dined here on a Friday night with the parents. Close to their house, and pizza better than any chain were the main selling points. The restaurant was pretty full, two groups ahead of us to get a table. Once seated we waited quite a while to actually see our server. She brushed by and said she'd be there "in a minute", but looked like she stopped at a good five tables before we could even get in drinks. The great thing about Fridays and Saturdays (for lushes like me) is they do Happy Hour all day. You get 2 for 1s on drafts, wells, house wines and sangria. Mom got Shocktop on draft and I gave the white sangria a try. I posted a pic of the sangria, it tasted like white wine and syrup with an orange slice and some canned pineapple chunks. I immediately wished I had ordered wine or liquor instead. When our server finally made her way back to take our order (slow service was a definite pattern here) we ordered the 14" Bianca pizza with spinach ($12.99+1.00), and my step-dad had the Large Special Calzone ($15.50). The pizza definitely made up for my last visit. There's a special place in my stomach for delicious white pizza, and this was pretty okay. The calzone, on the other hand, "had next to no meat in it" and "way too much cheese". I sampled the marinara that came with the calzone and it tasted straight out of a can. Too sweet and even a bit tinny. Even though half of it was leftover, the decision was made that it just wasn't worth taking home. Overall, it will get another visit if I don't feel like driving anywhere or I'm looking for white pizza that no delivery chain provides. Service was slow, but our server was friendly and polite. They would really benefit from utilizing fresher ingredients, especially in the sauces. What kind of Italian can't make a good sauce? If you don't expect much, you won't be disappointed. My advice? Go in with low expectations.

First...the good news. It's within a mile of my house. Now the bad news. Ragu out of a jar is better. We have on occasion ordered take-out pizza when we didn't feel like venturing too far from home. You're out of luck if you order it with toppings as the toppings are microscopic. The "crust" is usually under cooked and floppy. We're originally from the NY/NJ area and know what good Italian cuisine is like...trust me, this ain't it.

I visited here last week Thursday and met two friends for dinner. They were pretty busy and seemed a bit understaffed because the front was full of people waiting to be seated but there were empty tables. We were seated at a 8 person table for only 3 of us. It was nice to spread out but I'm sure they could have used the table for a bigger party. We made it just in time for 2 for 1 Happy Hour and I ordered the Italian Margarita which is made with Amaretto. It was delicious. My friend ordered a regular margarita and after she tasted mine she switched to the Italian. They were very generous with the drinks. They came in a pretty big glass. I ordered the Chicken Marsala which came with a side salad for my main entree. Our salads came out first and it was your normal salad with house Italian dressing. It was just ok. One of my friends did not have a great experience with her salad. As we were talking I noticed that she turned to get our waitress's attention. Long story short my friend had someone's FAKE fingernail in her salad of which she ended up chewing on! Can you say eeeew???? I immediately stopped eating my salad because obviously whomever prepared the salad used their bare hands. GROSS!!!! The restaurant comped my friends meal. We did end up eating the entrees but no one really enjoyed their meal after that. There were really only 2 positive things from this visit. The drinks were good and our waitress was AWESOME! She had so much energy. I got tired watching her run around and serve tables...lol!!! She really took care of us. Although she was good I probably will not be going back anytime soon due to the fact we know that they do not follow proper food handling guidelines.

I love this place. Great Greek salad. I usually add a chicken breast to it and make a meal of it. Pizza & calzones are excellent. The employees are generally very accommodating, and the restaurant is cute. It's a great non-chain style restaurant in a fabulous city. What more could you ask for?

We have tried here for their carry out a few times with mixed results so we decided to try again and try to eat in the restaurant and give it another go. Food was just ok. The iceberg lettuce that came in our side salads had the body of a wet newspaper and could not finish it but wait- it gets better. When our silverware is saturated with dressing and on our salad plate, the waitress which occasionally came around instructed us to save our silverware for our meal- apparently this "fine dining" restaurant only gets you one fork. I will bring an extra myself next time if there is a next time. Anyways- they screwed up my wife's order, food was average but nothing to write home about and the dishes are about $1-2 per entree higher for what you get. Customer service is lackluster there- if you have no expectation than you will be just fine. Would give it a three star for its average and mediocrity but two star for the little food they serve that on its last date before spoilage they serve you.

I really wanted to like this place. It's close to home, and I love Italian food. Unfortunately, after eating here twice, I realize that I'd be better off with the McDonald's across the street. The food is only half horrible - the other half is edible if you're not expecting much. The "New England" Clam Chowder has cheese in it - enough said. The Seafood Risotto was so over-salted that it was totally inedible. Spaghetti in Red Clam Sauce, a staple of American Italian restaurants, was OK considering it was made with canned clams instead of fresh clams. They did throw 2 fresh clam shells on top for effect, which was thoughtful. The Italian sausages were tasty, and their marinara sauce is decent. The pizza is extremely forgettable, meaning it tastes nothing like good NY pizza, and nothing like what I ate in Italy. This place reminds me of an episode of Kitchen Nightmares where Chef Ramsay tells the owner that he needs to find his self-respect. I'm sorry, but this place is lazy pseudo-Italian. Would it be hard to buy some good Italian bread? Perhaps give the waiters a cheese grater for freshly grated Parmesan cheese rather than jars of the cheap pre-grated canned stuff on the table? Although the first meal was a disaster, we came back again to give the place a fair shake. We shouldn't have bothered. Life is too short for mediocre (or worse) food - give this place a pass. Try Peppino's a few miles down the street, it's much better. For that matter, so are most of the other Italian restaurants in the Orlando area.

Average pizza, but it's close to home. Haven't had a bad experience there and that's saying something against the competion. It's changed names a few times, we went there 2 names ago it wasn't good. But maybe now they have new owners. No reason to avoid. There are coupons for this place,

Well, I think the best thing I can say is that our server Melinda was very nice and prompt. The decor is in need of a bit of a makeover, and the food is average to just below average. Started with the pasta fagioli soup, and I think it had been sitting for a while - it had that over salty flavor from having a lot of the water evaporate. The spaghetti and meatballs was ok, the pasta was cooked correctly, but the sauce was fairly bland and under seasoned. The meatballs had a thick density that told me they were home made, so that was good. We also had the shrimp Tuscany, again the shrimp and pasta were cooked well, but the sauce was again without much flavor. I will say my daughter enjoyed her personal cheese pizza, and my son's chicken fingers came out hot and fresh. Overall just ok, really could have had a similar meal at home without much effort.

We have lived nearby for 8 years and never ate here. What a waste is time. It was really good. Had the Lobster Ravioli and Lasagna. Awesome! Had the house Chianti. It was really good. The house Vinaigrette was really good too.

Salty!!! Let me first say I am not a gourmet cook. But I make pretty darn good chicken picatta. I was visiting friends and we went here... I lived down the road from 2001-2007 and went often them and it was quite good. The chicken piccata was tough, dry and so salty the next day I had a salt hangover. The Greek salad had no Greek dressing option. So sad that it's gone so downhill since I left.

I've been to half dozen cities in 4 different states and still can't find a Stromboli I like as much as this place. I do agree, service is generally lacking, but nothing matters when the stellar Italian fare arrives at your table. The outdoor seating is nice, but this gives the server a higher probability of forgetting about your group. To go is always an option! TL;DR get the Stromboli

This is my favorite Italian restaurant! The garlic knots and caprese salad are especially good. The portions are a good size and they have $5.99 lunch specials. The staff is friendly and I have always had good service.

Not worth the money: I'm a Local to Oviedo,.. I must admit I normally have only had their Pizza and it's not bad...but far from the best I've ever had. Until recently that's all we've ever had from them was their pizza, until last night. Ugh... Is the best way I can put it,.. I ordered from them an hour and a half before they closed (clearly a mistake) we ordered a Spaghetti w/meatballs , an order of Manicotti w/ a side of meatballs both came w/ your choice of soup or salad we both had soup (soup was OK..but a tad too salty) we also ordered a chicken Madeira w a side salad. And for an appetizer we ordered spinach artichoke dip. -All the noodles were Over cooked and cold... It was like they just threw what was left over into a container because they did not want to make fresh and melted some cheese half way over it. The meatballs were old at least a day (did not taste fresh) the spinach artichoke dip was over melted as if it was microwaved TOO long and half was hard and crusty and completely a waste we could not eat it. And last but not least the free garlic bread that comes w the meals.. Half (that they put on the bottom) was burnt (just gross) So needless to say we will be taking our business elsewhere from now on.

This place is a joke, I try to place an order and they're trying to force me to buy stuff that I don't want otherwise they won't fill my order, I don't want that in my order why would you forced me to buy it? Like going to Burger King they're saying yeah you can have a burger but you have to have a soda or fries with it otherwise you can't have a burger

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
