I have known about JHulas for a while and would have gone more if the original wasnt located in Winter Park. Having one close to UCF is a Godsend. :) I have probably been 10 times in the last two weeks and cannot get enough of their tacos. Everything is fresh and while some might argue that the tacos are a bit on the pricey side (I dont think so) It is totally worth it given the serving size and quality. I am working on trying everything on the menu and if I can make a recommendation, order a side of fuego sauce for everything :)

I enjoyed both the atmosphere and the food at this place. It has a college/bar feel that makes for a relaxing lunch. I have not been here in the evening or on the weekend to know if it gets busy with a ton of college students. What really got me about this place was that the burger reminded me of a small bar in my hometown of Altoona PA. It has a sort of ciabatta rol(their menu calls it a Kaiser) and what seemed like a hand formed patty of meat. The memories of my childhood came rushing back with my first bite. The sweet tea was not very good, but the service was fast and friendly. I will be back to try some burger variations and the tacos and possibly raise my rating should I find them all to be as good as the burger.

I really like this place. Vibe: cool, laid back. Needs a fire pit and sand to take it to the next level. Tacos: Tasty, awesome and the options are plentiful. Fries: go for the Mojo (or mojo jojo as my friends and I call them), they are "number one!" Service is polite, but not exciting. Go here for a chill, tasty evening. Mojo fries and the shrimp tacos FTW!

Food is always fresh and cooked to order. Burgers are so tasty! So many verities of tacos, I like the buffalo caesar. Great atmosphere and friendly employees.

$7 bucks for a burger should come with Fries and a drink! The Diablo Burger had balls, I'll give them that, and really, it's food worthy of a few fans, but their prices are truly insulting. I won't be riding any waves with Jimmy Hula again, to be sure. A burger & Fries, two tiny tacos, chips & salsa with sodas, $30 before tip. That was lunch for my wife and I. Can I dislike you on Facebook?

Wow, this place really is as good as it gets! Low prices with huge portions. I am normally a little worried about going to places that are islands themed. Its not my type of food but this place makes me rethink my position. Eggs and chips on a burger with mojo fries? Yes sir! Their dipping sauce for their cajan and mojo fries are wonderful. Their burger was cooked to perfection. This restaurant makes me want to sit down and just relax. It's a wonderful vibe and I am so glad this place is close by ucf. The service was great. The staff was very understanding of my lack of experience ordering here. They even suggest a few things I could add on to my burger. I ended up paying 5.99 for a quality burger, fries (best I have ever had), and a drink. Towards the end, I felt that I left robbing them :p! Only thing I did not like was the clothing on one of their waitress. (This is completely my preference!) Her uniform shirt was shredded so that it exposed her entire belly and back. She was wearing really short shorts as well. It was just very distracting and I saw some kids asking their parents about her too. But its what I expect at a college joint.

I gave this place a second try, thinking the first time I was just unlucky, and I did try a couple of different kinds of the fish tacos. Nope, it's horrid. They're very bland and kinda mushy. I have had worse fish tacos somewhere else, but that was such a nightmare I've blocked the memory. I am a self-proclaimed fish taco expert. Thirty odd years ago I would make regular trips to Ensenada (Baja California) for fish tacos, but I really am not a taco snob. Del Taco's are not all that bad. I'm not insisting that they be like the delicious originals - variety is fine, but they should at least taste OK. Unfortunately I haven't found any really great fish tacos in Orlando yet, so the search continues.

We went to Jimmy Hula's for the first time and had the Baja fish taco and the shrimp big island taco they were extremely flavorful and were the best tacos I have ever had... The place had a nice beach decor the food was great and price was right too... Loved the mixture of sweet and tangy ... Perfect tacos !!

LOVE this place! Truly a place that I make sure I visit on almost a weekly basis. Awesome and helpful staff, amazing atmosphere and most importantly super delicious and inexpensive food. I've tried mostly everything on the menu and nothing has disappointed... the tacos are some of my favorites. They have great beer specials too and it's a great place to come relax with friends.

Delicious fish tacos. Great options and a great fries as well. Cajun and sweet potato fries are the best. I definitely recommend it.

Jimmy Hula's seems overpriced for what you actually get. I've visited this location three times and none of them were super favorable. The first time I went I ordered the Epic Cali taco. It seemed a bit bland in flavor. I ended up spending $10 for a taco, chips and queso, and a drink. It wouldn't' have been too bad if the queso wasn't $3 with only a handful of chips and a tiny taco. I literally only counted 15 chips. Moe's pile on the chips free of charge. The second time I got the Burt Reynolds burger and the mojo fries. This will set you back $13 dollars and that doesn't include a drink. While the size of the burger was enormous and juicy, the flavor was lacking. It tasted so bland that I added more condiments when I got home to liven it up a little. On the other hand, the mojo sauce was pretty good with a mild sweet flavor. On my most recent visit I ordered the steak street taco and the voodoo taco (wasn't conned into getting the queso this time) and this was probably my best experience. I enjoyed both tacos, however the price still wasn't justified for me. I think it's fair to say that this restaurant won't be at the top of my list in the near future. One thing that I like though is that the girls there are very welcoming and friendly and the decor fits the theme very well. They also have a wide selection of beer and beer specials for people who are into that sort of thing.

I really love this place. Words cant be placed to the awesomeness of the Burnt Reynolds Burger. I simply love this place and the environment is really relaxing with an awesome staff! I will become a frequent consumer of this place. Do yourself a favor and make a trip here.

Very disappointing. The staff was snotty and snooty, except for the one that looks like Emma Stone (Christina)....she was helpful. The bowls were mostly rice with a small sprinkling of five beans. Will not return.

First time here, ordered the burger and was very impressed. All of my friends loved it too. Would definitely come back. Too much food to try it all in one sitting.

Worth the wait out in the heat to finally try Jimmy Hula's, the fish tacos are some of the best around! If it's not too hot, sit outside and have a beer too.

Great tacos, I love the fact that the tortilla shells are lightly toasted. Try their in house beers, the Kona Longboard was outstanding!

Before we even ordered our food, I saw one of the workers tell a customer that they didn't need their business and screamed "fuck you" at him. I wanted to leave but I stayed because it was my 1st time going and I wanted to taste the food. I got one of their signature burgers and it tasted frozen and cheap. And the portion was pretty small. The atmosphere is cool but the food is far from good. No one at my table really liked what they ordered. We were pretty disappointed with the whole experience.

We have been several times already. Service is prompt and the employees are so friendly and helpful. The fish tacos are amazing and the burgers are tasty!! Loved it each time there!!! We will be back and so will our friends.

College place. Staff is friendly & helpful ~ reason for the 2 stars. Food is greasy. I felt gross after eating it. I would have felt healthier eating Papa John's everything pizza. Will not be returning. I'm sure the college guys love it but when you're 18, you can eat anything. It's half a step up from concession stands at the arenas.

Not the greatest first experience. This was my boyfriend and I's first time here. We walked through the side door and were a little lost as to where everything was. We did not know where the menus were so we were looking at the top area of the cashier. The cashier girls were too busy talking and did not even bother to greet us or help us even though they saw that we were a bit lost. It took about 5 minutes before another gentleman walked in from outside of the restaurant and greeted us and also showed us where the menus were. Off the bat I got an iffy feeling about this place. Food. I decided to get a primo half sandwich and regretted it from the first bite. All I could taste was the bread. It was very bland and I could not taste any tar tar sauce or anything else really besides the "okay" fish and and a lot of bread. The fries and chips were okay, but very generic like any other place so no surprise. I should have gone with a fish taco. Service. I saw my food ready to go and watched as it sat there for a while. I witnessed about 3 people walking back and forth past my food. They seemed to notice that it was there but did not care to serve it to me. I don't expect immediate service, but it wasn't busy and they seemed to have a lot of free hands. Not a big issue but worth mentioning. I might give this place another shot, but that is just a maybe.

Tacos here were delishh!! Could not decide which ones to get so i I definitely have to come back for more. 2 tacos is enough for 1 person!

  • Tess M.

I used to come here a lot for their street tacos! It was so good! Almost like in east LA. Now it's different. Not good. Not Mexican. :(. I think. Tacos are simple. Grilled the meat and chop to little pieces. Corn tortilla, I think chopped cilantro, little onion and a little chili sauce! That's it. Or mango relish. :). Wishful thinking.

If you are looking for a chill beach shack vibe, a good burger or some quality tacos, Jimmy Hula's is the spot! Very cool atmosphere of surfboards and sign decor accompanied with old school car seat out of 1970's classics. As a UCF student Jimmy Hula's is a great place to fill up with a huge burger and a few brews. I recommend The Duke burger with an order of cajun fries and a good old Red Stripe to wash it all down. If you're just looking for a place to grab a drink there is a good selection a beer, specifically those that remind you of sitting on the coast with tour feet in the sand.

You get some of the college crowd here. Great food and a great price. Just don't order too much, it get's expensive!

I was just so disappointed. I asked what the fish was in the fish tacos. She said swai. I asked her to tell me more about it. She said it was white. Not the information I was hoping for. (isn't most fish white?) I'm super allergic to certain fish, so I decided not to try it. I had a pork taco, it was ok, but it fell apart. I googled swai and turns out it is exactly what I'm allergic to, so there's that. The taco came with chips. Yay! I asked about salsa - but that's extra. Had cheesy rice and beans. It was mostly cheese and kind of seized up in the bowl. I might come back just for the pork taco though.

This was our last stop in Orlando last weekend and one of the most delicious. Jimmy Hula's offers up a pretty large menu of burgers and tacos. I wasn't really in the mood for a burger and all of their taco options looked amazing so I settled on 3 different ones - Baja Shrimp, Big Island (with crispy fish), and some sort of steak taco with cilantro sauce, and a side of beans and rice. One of the nicest things about this place is that everything is priced in eaches so you can easily order any combinatrion of tacos you want - as opposed to 2 or 3 of just one type. The first thing I'll say is that this was way too much food. I was expecting some small measly tacos and instead found I was pretty full midway through my second taco. The second thing I'll say is that I didn't love the steak - while the flavor was good the meat itself was VERY fatty and kind of turned off me off to the whole thing. Everything else, however, was amazing. I would highly recommend both the fish and shrimp, as well as the specific tacos I ordered which were both bursting with different flavors. The rice and beans were really good as well (note: it comes drizzled in lava sauce) - perfect complement to the tacos. This place is comparable to most other fast casual places in terms of price, wait, beer selection, etc. but I'd say the food is well above average and what makes this place really stand out.

Not great. It's like if Jimmy Buffet had a baby with Tijuana Flats. You order your food at the counter and they give you a number. Prices are usually under $10 per person. The fish is usually described as 'whitefish' so take your guess as to whether its tilapia, grouper, cod...who knows. An order of fries is more than enough for two people. The Cajun fries are decent (I think they're just your standard McCain Foods/Sysco fries) but if you're expecting Five Guys Cajun fries you'll be disappointed. They have a big beer selection but the pricing is a bit confusing. Bad reggae music blares in the background. There are a couple of TV's at the bar which should be viewable from any seat in the restaurant. UCF was on winter break when I went, so it wasn't very busy - I would definitely skip it if I saw a line out the door. There's better options on University Blvd.

  • Todd S.

Best fish tacos I've had in Orlando by far. And you don't just pick "fish tacos", you have about 10 flavors to choose from, and then your choice of grilled, blackened, or fried. I got a few different options (one with sriracha, another with guacamole, and another with pulled pork) and they were all incredible. They also have Sweetwater 420 on draft, so that was a huge win for me. You walk in and place your order then have a seat. Probably seats around 50 inside, with a patio that can seat another 30 or so. Fun place and great food. I will definitely be back in the near future.

First time eating lunch at this cute little place. Very chilled, laid back atmosphere with surf décor and other cool décor around the place. I ordered the Mango and Voodoo fish tacos which they bring out to your table. They both were super delicious and serving portions were plenty. One of the better spots where I've enjoyed eating fish tacos. If you are looking for a bit of spice, the voodoo fish taco is the one to try. Prices are generally under $10.00 so very affordable. Kid friendly place. There is also outdoor seating to enjoy the weather. The service was friendly and attentive. If you live in the UCF area or is a student, a good place to check out. I definitely would go back for an afternoon lunch again.

The environment from when you walk in is very calm and relaxing! The look of food was mouth watering, the taste was even better! The meat on the burger was deliciously juicy!!!! The tacos.... OMG!!! I got the street taco with pork. I'm not much of a pork eater but God! The pork was perfectly flavorful and so juicy. I savored every bite! I recommend this place to anyone stoping by! The customer service is just as great as the food!!!! Madison was so helpful in choosing our meal!

  • Linda H.

Great fish taco at an inexpensive price. You order at the counter and the food is brought out to you. Only downside is I feel this place should offer free chips and salsa because your dish comes with chips. Overall very tasty in an unique funky atmosphere!

This review is actually for the new Jimmy Hulas in Hunters Creek. We never tried this place before and out first impression was really good. We took note that their menu is very affordable. My fiancé ordered 1 Big Island Fish taco and 1 Big Island shrimp taco. Both of which were very good!! I usually don't like fish tacos and when I tried his, they were absolutely delicious. The shrimp was amazing as well. The big island taco comes with a mango and pineapple salsa, spring mix, and mandarins. I ordered the street tacos. They were good but I really liked the fish and shrimp big island taco. I ordered the street tacos with chicken and it comes with guacamole, onions and cilantro with corn tortillas. I don't like corn tortillas usually so I switched them out for flour tortillas. I liked them but I was so impressed with the fish tacos, my fiancé and I ordered another 2 big island fish tacos. I would definitely recommend this place based on their tacos.

Great food, great prices, and fresh ingredients. What more can you ask for?! The past few times I'd been there I had the tacos. My goal is to try every single one! I keep telling myself to venture out and try one of the sandwiches...maybe next time. :)

My boyfriend is somewhat of an amateur burger expert and he is definitely a fan of this place. I've been half a dozen times or so and I'm never really disappointed in my order. The burgers are great! I'm sure I'll be back over and over again!

  • Vivian T.

I love this place. The food is awesome and unique. The way they decorate the place sets the mood and makes feel like you're in Hawaii or Bahamas. My favorite order is big island and Cajun fries. Also the burnt reynold's burger looks delicious!

This is a pretty cool place. Kinda like a beach bar it reminded us of Caribbean vacations although there seems to be more of a Hawaiian influence. The food was fantastic and a great value too. My wife had the half crispy fish sandwich with Moho fries and drink and I had the same except with a half shrimp po boy. The sandwiches were very good but the fries were over the top with some kind of lime seasoning and a secret dipping sauce. I was very sad that I could not finish all of them. The staff was very friendly and the person that took our order was very knowledgeable about the menu. It is very near the university and I noticed several bucket of beer specials so I can imagine that it would be quite a bit louder at night and a lot more fun. We'll have to stop by at a later time and check it out.

Best fish taco's I've had. The freshness is exceptional! The sauce for the mojo fries is so good you can use as a compliment for most of the menu.

  • Deborah O.

I went here for a burger because I love pineapple on my burgers but it was a really lousy job. Eleven dollars for a greasy sloppy mess on a crappy bun and soggy fries. So rude. Visit #2: beef street tacos. The only flavor i tasted was salt. Sooooo much salt.

So I don't eat fish tacos often; mainly because it's usually a hit or miss for me. But the bf, two friends, and I decided to come here for dinner because a few friends of ours said that their burgers were amazing and their fish tacos are pretty damn good. Thanks guys! LOVE the decor here. Very chill spot and the staff was super nice. I ordered the killer (?), it's the spicy fish taco with habanero sauce. wow, so good. It definitely had a kick and left me wanting another. I also ordered a second taco thinking the first one wasn't enough. Nope, I barely finished the first lol. But! I eat very little at a time so I recommend ordering two because they are fairly small. My second taco was the Baja Shrimp - the pineapple / mango salsa they use is so so good! It definitely was the cherry on top for this taco. Bf ordered the Kahuna burger and you can add whatever toppings you like - of course, he added bacon and a fried egg. BEST DECISION EVAAAR. He finished it before I even finished my first taco. I barely got to try a bite! -_____- We also ordered their zucchini fries and onion rings. I love their onion rings and whatever sauce it came with it. The zucchini fries were good as well but they're probably better with queso or salsa. I want to try their cajun fries next time since fellow yelpers feel that they're that good!

  • Casey H.

By far, can agree more that this place has the best fish tacos. I don't even bother eating anything on the menu besides those. High recommended... cool staff too. Parking can be difficult and finding a place to sit can be even more challenging.

  • Melanie R.

I've been there many times. I've had every signature burger besides 'El Diablo' and enjoyed every bite. The best burger is the aloha burger. Mojo fries are good but the sweet potato fries are even better. Ask for them with lava sauce! I'm allergic to seafood so I can't say much about the fish tacos but I have tried one and I loved it. It was called the Big Island of I'm not mistaken. Pork street taco and Luau taco are my favorite. The cookie dough flautas for desert, mouth watering. I love the seating but they could do a better job cleaning the seats. The booths have seats that resemble the back of a car and some of them have cup holders that should really be cleaned. They don't really have AC inside. They open the doors and have fans instead. Uncomfortable for the summer heat but then there's outdoor seating as an option.

  • Ho L.

Service was quick and friendly during the lunch rush. It was hard to choose which burger to try, as they have quite a few unique options, along with a build-your-own. The sauces are the killer ingredient on the burger, so make sure you choose wisely as the rest of the burger is pretty standard. I hear the fish tacos are great, but I'll have to try them out next time.

  • Frank L.

Best fish tacos in the area..hands down! I like the fact that you can get them grilled, fried or cajun, and that they come with lots of different toppings. The big Island and Voodoo are my favorites. I have to say I am a fan of the bar and ambience. As far as burger and fries go..I would say that they are just OK. The fries were a bit to salty and burger kind of bland and overcooked.

    (4)
  • Dan M.

I'd actually really like to give a better review because a lot of the food is great and the faux island atmosphere just brings out the proud native kitschy Floridian in me, but it's just that the price/food ratio is a little off. Custom sloppy as hell burgers and tacos (tried various types like the pipeline pork, voodoo fish and jimi steak) are all very tasty, as are the mojo and cajun fries. It does get weird though - the cole slaw is an experience...can't say good or bad...just not your ordinary slaw. Also, I'd skip the bowl dishes and def pass on the onion rings.

This was a fun stop on my culinary tour, but I think I'll bypass it the next time. Atmosphere = Fun Employees = Fun Seating = Fun Food = Meh I had a bowl of black beans and rice with teeny tiny bits of blackened fish on top. Get the cheese glop, I mean sauce, on the side. Your bowl will thank you. Cheese fries were overpowered by the ocean of cheese glop poured on them. Fries had promise; the few that managed to escape the goo were crispy. Boyfriends burger looked good, but he seemed underwhelmed. WARNING: if you get anything with the Fuego Sauce, get it on the side. I adore hot & spicy and eat copious amounts and this sauce kicked my tastebud's collective little asses. Yes, it's THAT spicy.

Hula your Jimmy's!! Or.. wait its Jimmy Hula's... =) I've been here a few times for the lunch rounds on the weekdays. It gets quite busy. The seating arrangements can be made more accomodating. The first time I went here it was just 2 people so finding a place to sit wasn't such a problem. However, the second time I went back, I had a whole group of 9 with me so was forced to sit outside due to the interior dining area being filled. I really dont mind sitting outside if it was welcoming. The seating area for the outside is abysmal. There are a few tables, a few bar tables and stools, chairs, and strings lights. Did you notice that I did NOT mention the umbrellas or fans, or any type of cooling strategy that would make it tolerable to sit outside in FLORIDA during the SUMMER 90+ degree weather???? Like honestly, I think they could afford a few fans... (tidbit: i think you can actually make reservations for large parties...not quite sure) On to the food.... They have some funky inspiration going on in here. I have tried the mojo fries, which is basically seasoned fries with some sort of mayo based sauce. If any one know Teppan/Hibachi food (ie. Kobe's/Kyoto), its kind of like their white sauce. So if you're into that stuff, you'll probably like that sauce. I also had the Aloha burger ( teriyaki marinated, a slide of pineapple, swiss, lettuce, onion & creamy teriyaki (the white sauce i was talking about)) - Its pretty good, really messy, and a little sweet. I've also tried the street tacos (their special), which i would not recommend. It sounds tempting because it cost less than their regular tacos but I rather just have 1 regular taco...(dont be greedy) Fish tacos - I've tried the Big Island and it was delicious. The fish wasn't over cooked and the salsa was refreshing on top. Have not had the opportunity to try others... The verdict is: yes I will come back, but if the dining area is full, I would leave in a heartbeat and not sit in the 90 degree weather sweating out everything i'm eating...

I LOVE places with Caribbean themes, that being said Jimmy Hula's was great. I had the CABO TRIO, which was decent, but the Queso really stood out. It was mostly yellow, but had chunks of white cheese, it was delicious! For tacos I had: BAJA, VOODOO, and THE WIPEOUT. I rate them in that order. The wipeout was interesting because it had fried on it...awesome. It was a heavy taco though, I couldn't finish it. I suggest showing up with an appetite!

    (3)
  • Lisa K.

I have only had the fish tacos, and will probably never venture outside of that because they are so delicious. The voodoo sauce should just be renamed crack sauce because it is completely addictive. My husband ordered a burger on our last visit and was very impressed, which doesn't happen often. My only complaint is that it is a little on the pricey side for this type of casual dining establishment. It doesn't seem so at first, but everything is a la carte, so adding sides to your meal really adds to that check. But, I'd rather pay more money for awesome food than less money on simply average food.

Eat HERE! Oh do you need more info to make the best choice possible?... This institution of foodness (Foodness= Fresh Food + Yummy Goodness) has an extensive menu and my goal is to try everything at least once. What's hard about that, is that everything has been amazing and its hard to move on instead of trying it over and over again. I love their Fish Tacos. They have 6 original Fish Tacos which can be prepared with blackened, grilled, or crispy fish, or with shrimp that can also be blackened, grilled, or crispy, or any of their other 10 Turf Tacos can also be adapted to fish as well. What's my personal favorite? The Baja Fish Taco which is true perfection, the Luau Chicken Taco where I want to just slurp the Creamy Teriyaki Sauce with a Straw, the Steak JimiChurri with perfectly cooked steak and incredible chimichurri sauce, and the Pipeline Pork with their Citrus Pulled Pork. But let me add the disclaimer now... regular hungry? just get one! Famished? Get two. Or if you are eating like a WWE Superstar go for the gusto and get three. Don't let these la carte prices fool you, these tacos are huge and filling. Second recommendation: instead of getting two tacos just add a side or appetizer like the Jimmy Crack'd Corn which is eye-rolling, yummy-noises-that-should-only-be-heard-in-the-privacy-of-a-bedroom good. Don't believe me, try it and then when you have a When Harry met Sally moment in the middle of the restaurant or office breakroom then here is my "I told you so". Last few tips: - Their salsa is actually more like a picadijio and costs extra. I suggest instead that you think of the extra tortilla chips that come with your tacos as extra crisps to sop up the sauce that comes with your taco. - End your meal out right and order the Island Crisps Dessert and be prepared to share 'cus it's huge. - If you get any burger to-go, make sure to have them put the sauce on the side or else you'll be eating it with a knife and fork. Still yummy but not finger friendly. - The Voodoo sauce is spicy but its not a kill-your-taste-buds so would recommend in moderation. - The Lava Sauce is fantastic and can go on everything - Sweet Potato Fries are awesome and so are the Zucchini Fries (which are tempura fried). - Also have to give props to the servers, I call for take out and then run out the door because by the time I get there (less than 10min) everything is ready, packaged, and nothing is missing or not what I ordered. And since its usually a group of us for an office lunch this is such a relief.

This should really be a 3.5 star review. We eat here often after a happy hour at World of Beer. I typically build my own burger, which is always pretty good, but not great. What Jimmy Hula's does wonderfully is FRIES. Their cajun fries make me want to weep, they are so stinkin good. And the spicy dipping sauce that goes with them? Divine! LOVE. I also like the zucchini fries and fried green beans quite a bit, but nothing beats those cajun fries.

This place is always delicious and quick with a fun vibe, but that's not why I'm writing this. The "ladies" (if you could call these trolls that) sitting in the booth next to us were extremely rude and disrespectful to the girls working there, and ripped the manager a new one for literally no reason at all- to the point where it made me uncomfortable in the next booth. I just wanted to say how calmly and professionally the staff handled their bs. Keep up the good work guys.

I brought my parents here cause it was close by and had heard good things. When we went it wasn't busy so we got to look everything over and take our time. After ordering we sat down and promptly got up because the seat had no cushion and I sank to about head level with the table. I get its going for the laid back beach feel but the seats were struggling. We all got an assortment of meat, chicken, and fish tacos. Moms had no crema when she specifically got one that comes with it, it maybe had a dab and she was not impressed, she is a picky eater and hard to please especially when it comes to tacos., The salsa had no salt or pepper just garlic for 2.29 expected a little more. Pops got the chicken bowl, which was good, and the voodoo fish w/mango delicious but I've never had a bad fish taco. Haha shrimp was average, and again got to add a little salt and pepper. Couldn't taste onions or cilantros and my meat had a funny taste to it not sure what to make of it. Not impressed may give them a another shot but if I do I will probably try a different location.

We went and tried Jimmy Hula again, this time we all stuck with the junior combo meal. i like the bread they use, the burger was not bad, had some taste. I must say that I do not like their french fries, I can tell they are coated in a milk base. I am not a fan of that, Gives me a bad aftertaste and I really cant have milk. The family liked the cajun fries. So it was my issue, I think they have other sides perhaps I can find one to replace. We dont drink pepsi products so has to stick to tea. I would like to see some coupons for them, it would get me in more often.

Diablo Burger is bad**s. It only hurts when my lips touch each other. Great fish tacos and burgers. Fast food type ordering at counter is worst idea ever. They should switch to proper service at the table.

Love this place! Crispy fish tacos are the best and never tried something I haven't liked. Good prices too.

Just recently came back here for lunch. It was definitely a lot better than the first time I was here. The first time I came, I was not impressed. The taco toppings were overwhelming and the fishes was chopped up in small pieces. So, I couldn't taste the fish at all. This time, the fish was in bigger pieces. I could tell I was eating a good fish taco, instead a tortilla filled with cabbage. The sweet potato fries are really good. They are huge! The sauce that comes with it is the best! I wouldn't hesitate to come back like before.

We ordered a build your own Kahuna Burger, Street Tacos, kids chicken strips and a Diablo burger. The sauce on the Diablo burger is VERY spicy, the woman working the counter told us to get it on the side, and that was a great decision. Buckets of beer for $10 and a a cool vibe tie the restaurant together. Only one problem I noticed was the tile leading to the bathrooms is very slippery.

I've been wanting to try the food for myself to experience the laid back vibe and ofcourse the tacos. My Husband and I went to the Hunters Creek location on a Sat afternnon for lunch and thought the atmosphere was welcoming and very relaxing. Ordered from the counter from a welcoming young man with a fun personality it seemed. Unfortunately this location did not have Red Stripe like we read but we got Kalik's instead. Food came out very quickly and tasted great, Gnarly nachos was on point and the tacos and burger were delish. Another disappointment was on my taco I got a slice of very hard avocado when I bit into it and I didn't eat the rest. After 5 mins I had a bad reaction and had to leave immediately, needless to say I don't think I'll be going back. One thing did stick out to me was the server said "good luck" when she placed our food on the table and I thought that was very strange for a server, usually it's Enjoy your food never good luck. Was my food tainted? Ummm....not good.

I come here often for lunch during work and absolutely love the fish tacos. Depending on how hungry I am, I either get two or three tacos. One of the tacos will always be the Killer, which consists of Green & Red Cabbage, Jack Cheese & Habanero Boss Sauce. If you can handle spicy, try the killer! Also, if you get the chance try the mojo fries, they come with Jimmy Hula's "house sauce." I have not tried their burgers yet and don't know if I ever will because each time I go I end up getting fish tacos.

So, two different Jimmy Hula's and two equally fantastic experiences. Something about Jimmy Hula's that keep me coming back, oh wait, its the fish tacos, beer bucket specials, and friendly employees! This particular location is larger than the one on Aloma, different seating, with a bar area included. Very cool! Plus, this one is open later than the one on Aloma, probably due to the heavy UCF traffic I'm betting. So, if new to Jimmy Hula's altogether, close your eyes and point anywhere within the fish taco area, and you've chosen a winner. The Killer admittedly is damn hot, but in a good way, so beware. Two tacos will do it if you're hungry, or if you're there with someone else, each person can get a taco and split a side and be more than happy. Zucchini fries or Sweet Potato fries are good, and chicken tenders as a side are great too. Every time I'm here I find myself using my phone app to tag the great reggae music, so I'll close with that. Great place!

I've been to both Jimmy Hula locations (Winter Park & UCF). I decided to try their Burger. I had the Burnt Reynolds burger- it was a Fried Egg, cheese, bacon & potato chips. It was a good size burger. I think it Looked good & tasted good but it's not as good as the tacos they make. My wife gets the Voodoo fish taco every time she comes here. The voodoo taco is a crispy fish taco w/voodoo sauce (spicy mayo), lettuce & pineapple mango salsa. She also has had the Epic Fish Taco grilled. The atmosphere is great & I like the UCF location better out of the two. Check it out & definitely try their sweet potato fries!

This was my first time in here. I read a number of good reviews for the Jimmy Hula's on University but I guess those people had a different experience than I did. My girlfriend ordered a margarita and it was made with a styrofoam cup instead of a shaker. The mix was very sweet and made for a sub par margarita that actually upset her stomach. I noticed that I was pretty much sweating while sitting at my seat and asked the server if it was always this hot in here? She said the air conditioner goes in and out. I am not an overweight or out of shape person, so sweating while I sit inside a restaurant is pretty ridiculous. I ordered two tacos both of which had steak. One of them was absolutely excellent while the other had steak that couldn't be chewed. Apparently another issue with the building is that the roof leaks when it rains. Since this restaurant is in Florida that happens almost every day. I can't imagine what kind of things from the roof end up in the food if it leaks every time it rains. I also don't want to know how hot it gets in the kitchen because that means the people working in the kitchen are very hot and are undoubtedly sweating over everyones food. I will probably try a different location to see if it is better but will definitely not be returning to this one.

Love the fish tacos! They're the best. As far as classic tacos, they're good too but don't have that authentic Mexican flavor. Most def try the fish tacos though!

I have been back 7 times since my first review which is only a little over a week ago. Says a lot about how I feel about this place! I have indeed tried their Duke Burger which is two patties with onion petals, pulled pork, and bbq sauce with lettuce and mayo. It was great! I still prefer their specialty, the fish tacos! My favorite still remains to be the Big Island Fish Taco which has mandarin oranges on it with a sweet and spicy sauce with lettuce and pineapple salsa. SOOOO GOOOD! I am officially addicted, Mr. Hula. It's not often I go to the same place for lunch AND dinner in the same damn day... Should I be embarrassed that I come here so often?

I was apprehensive when this location opened since I had visited the one in Winter Park a week or two after it had opened and it wasn't a pleasant experience. My wife and I were at World of Beer one evening and nothing else was open, so we decided to give it another shot. Wow was I shocked! The staff is all super friendly, even after we realized they were closing soon and felt bad we were "those people." We chatted with them all and had great food. We've gone back several times, and always enjoy everything we get. We've ventured out into the burgers and turf tacos and haven't found anything you can go wrong with. Obviously, their fish tacos are fantastic too, and I love the "go naked" option - it means I can eat another taco ;) The beer selection isn't anything like World of Beer or Public House, but it is pretty good. They've started carrying 22s of several fantastic beers, as well as their normal $12.50 bucket special that gives a decent variety of choices. They also have 5-6 taps, mostly Konas, but sometimes one or two others. The noise can get a little loud with a fair amount of people in side, but I haven't minded as it hasn't been terrible. They have live music on a few nights, which has always been good. The prices are slightly high for each item I feel, but the food is freshly made with what tastes like good ingredients, so the cost isn't horrible. I do wish they had some sort of loyalty program or discounts once in a while, though.

The new Jimmy Hula's is very similar to the other location in Winter Park with its openness and tropical coast vibe. I was hungry and unsure of what I wanted so I ordered an Aloha burger and a Killer taco with Mojo fries. So apparently with the burger, instead of one fat patty they give you two thinner ones (what Robin A. refers to as a "double" in her review is actually a single but it comes with two thin patties). I'm not sure why they do this but it's fine with me. Of course, between the two patties and the large, thick slice of pineapple all well-lubricated by a sizable helping of teriyaki sauce, holding the burger together between the bun became an exercise that was something akin to stacking marbles. As such, it was pretty easily the messiest burger I've ever eaten -- but again, I'm not complaining. That's why we have napkins and indoor plumbing. The taco was equally tasty and will definitely be a part of my next visit. I did wish it was a little more spicy though. The menu had mentioned a habanero sauce that covers the Killer taco, and while the sauce was good (and there was some heat to it), it didn't quite live up to the expectations that the description had summoned forth. Finally, the Mojo fries were just different enough to be worthwhile, but since the taco came with some chips (and I had just eaten an entire burger), I felt like maybe I didn't need to order them. I did finish them off though, so there's that.

They had a special of $12.50 for a bucket of any 5 selections of their craft beer. What a good deal! The voodoo taco was good, the aloha although she said it was really popular was too slimy for my taste. The mojo fries are amazingly good with whatever dipping sauce that they give you and I definitely suggest trying the sweet potato fries! They were cooked to perfection although I couldn't pinpoint what that sauce for them was either lol. All in all it was a good meal.

I love this place! They have a nice variety of things from tacos to burgers. I had a burger the first time I came and it was delicious. But even better are the Cajun fries! And if you don't really care for fish tacos, try the buffalo Caesar tacos; they have just the right amount of heat.

In Orlando for a week and a half business trip. Been to Jimmy Hula's 3 times. Does this say anything to you? Good food, good prices, and great attentive waitstaff when not too busy. Don't expect the staff to be super attentive when busy though, especially during lunch time as there are only a handful of them. The place is reminiscent of an Island vacation somewhere in Hawaii?? Duh, Jimmy Hula's? Of course that is their MO here. Food was great. FIsh tacos, burgers, Jimmy Crack Corn, and others. Even my co-worker who only liked plain anything without any seasoning was fairly impressed with this spot. In short, GO THERE!!!! Worth the money.

Came here for lunch and it was just starting to fill up. We waited in line and looked over the menu's that are kept in a bicycle basket; very creative. I really liked the lay out of the place, the decorations are awesome, and the music was pretty cool too. I ordered the street taco combo which is two tacos and a drink; I asked for one chicken and one steak and instead got two chicken.. Fine; no big deal it was really tasty anyway, but I'm looking at the size of it and thinking: "Really?" I could've easily had two more, but at the same time it's not bad for 4.99 when you consider that soft drinks alone now in days are $2. What I didn't appreciate was the fact that I had to wait over 25 minutes to get my bite size tacos, and my friend had gotten her burger about 12 minutes prior and she was just sitting there with me waiting. The girl who served us the food had this look on her face like she had just broken up with Johnny football hero and was either going to break down at any moment and either start crying, or punch some body's lights out. Tasty tacos sure, but the service sucked.

My sister and friend had been raving about the famous fish tacos for quite some time, so today I dropped in for a bite. The ambience had a tropical/dive bar sort of vibe. My girlfriend and I placed our orders and was told it would be about 20 minutes wait (place was pretty packed) but our food came in about 10. I especially liked the option of having our fish either grilled or fried; we both got them grilled. I ordered the Voodoo taco and Killer taco. The Voodoo was especially delicious. The tangy/sweet mango salsa enriched the taco with a nice flavor. The Killer was spicy enough, not intolerable for me at all. There was a bit of crunch I got with the cabbage inside. My gf got the Epic taco, but I didn't try it. We also ordered a side of mojo fries. The fries themselves are not spectacular, but the dip it came with was tasty. And yes, we too discovered you pay $2 extra for queso, so we decided against it. All in all a pleasant experience. I'll be back to try the burgers soon!

They just opened this location here by UCF and I work a block away so I had to try it. I got one of their burgers and it was very good. Messy and huge, what everyone SHOULD like about a burger! Mine had pulled pork on it and I love pulled pork. Someone in our group ordered the Mojo Fries and they were awesome too. Their mojo sauce is really really good. I haven't had a chance to try the fish tacos but the others in my group said they were great.

My first trip to Jimmy Hulu's and I was pleasantly surprised. Didn't know what to expect from the old Backyard Burger's space on University Blvd. You place your order up front, but the line was rather long, so a delightful girl came up and said she could take our order at the bar. I ordered the Vodoo Taco and the Chicken Street Taco. The taco's come with chips. We were offered Salsa or Queso for our chips. Not thinking I said Queso. But, I have to say if I only had one complaint it was that the Queso was $2. Too high for me to order in the future. However, at $3 each, the taco prices are very affordable. They are oversized with lot's of yummy ingredients. I was told the sauce on both tacos were very spicy, it was very good, but not spicy enough for me. If your mouth is on fire, that is spicy:) Our food was delivered in a very timely manner and very tasty. My friend had the Buffalo Chicken Taco and was also very impressed. Very busy during the work week lunch hour, but the waiting time is very minimal. Can't wait to go back and try their burgers!

Good fish tacos. Great fries. The standard with pork is amazing, as is the luau chicken. I've been here several times and overall, it's been a good experience each time. I randomly get a craving for Jimmy Hula's and that's how I usually find myself here. It isn't by any means a regular spot for me, but definitely a restaurant I can review fairly accurately. It's a bit expensive, but the tacos ARE filling! The taco and burger options are great, as are the fries options. It's a good place to have a fast meal and a pitcher or two of beer with some friends. One thing I really wish they would do is close the doors, though! You really don't need to keep the doors open in the 10 month long Summer season we have here in Florida!

I've never been to a Jimmy Hula's before, so I'd been wanting to try this location. The inside is decorated a really cute island type theme. They also have an outside patio which looked nice. Service is set up like a Tijuana Flats...you order at the counter, then a waiter will bring the food to your table. I had the Burnt Reynolds Burger (Fried Egg, American Cheese, Bacon, Lays Chips, Lettuce, Ketchup). I thought it was okay. I liked the idea, but the burger itself was kind of bland tasting. My husband got a Killer Fish Taco (Green & Red Cabbage, Jack Cheese & Habanero Boss Sauce) and a Beef Street Taco (Cilantro-Onion Mix, Guacamole, Lettuce & Sriracha). He liked the fish taco, but it was drenched in the boss sauce to the point where he had to scrape some off. Also he assumed by the name that it was going to be a red type hot sauce, but it was actually a white mayonnaise type sauce. The street taco he also liked, but once again, it was drenched in sriracha sauce. Luckily he likes things hot! We also ordered the Mojo Cheese Fries w/ Lava Sauce to split. We both liked the cheese fries. The lava sauce was...interesting. It kind of reminded me of the ginger dressing that Japanese steak restaurants put on their salads. We didn't end up putting much of it on our fries. Both of us agreed we would go back to Jimmy Hula's, but will probably stick with their tacos. And next time we will definitely get any sauce on the side!

Totally disappointed! The chill atmosphere seemed promising. I didnt feel like standing in line to order so I sat at the bar, but no one came to acknowledge my presence. So I waited in line way too patiently. I ordered the burger with avocado on rye bread. Everything on it was so bland. I didnt even eat a 1/4 of my burger. The mojo fries are good. They were the only ones not overwhelmingly drenched in some sort of spice. If a friend ever dragged me there would be the only way I would give it a second chance. Maybe try a taco ive heard a few good things about.

Very generously sized tacos! I ordered three but could only finish 2 with the chips being sooo full. Waitstaff was very friendly and attentive to our needs and filled drinks. Went for lunch but took awhile to get food, definitely not recommended for a tightly timed lunch schedule.

Not a very good experience, NON existent service, some food good, some food not so good! Décor was cool but some of the booths are uncomfortable and some of the seats already need to be replaced. First off, this company/restaurant needs to figure out what it wants to be. When you order at the counter up front, they have a tip jar located next to the cash register. I don't understand what this is for? Taking my money?? Not once did any employee stop by our table to ask if everything tasted good, if we needed anything, or if we needed a drink refill. My gf and I went up to the main counter a total of 3 times to get our own refills. The first refill session the employees had their backs to the counter and I stood there for a little while hoping someone would see me. Eventually a girl who was on the phone snapped her fingers at another employee and he finally took care of me. They couldn't care less about the customer's experience! Where is the manager? Who is the manager? In addition, each time we received a refill our drink cups were COVERED IN SODA which I had to wipe off before carrying them back to our table! Why don't you wipe that shi* off??? In addition we noticed at least 3 times there were no customers ordering anything, yet the employees were standing around doing nothing. I counted a total of 8 employees hanging out behind the main counter, yet nobody could come to our table for a refill? We got our own refills, we had to ask for the salt shaker, we even cleaned our own table. Again you have a tip jar for WHAT? Another odd detail is they bring out each food item as it comes up from the kitchen, instead of waiting for all items to be ready and bringing them out to the table together. Now time for the food. I'm going to list the food items with a short description to make it easy: 1. Fries ordered with no seasoning - some of the best fries ever! The fries are the highlight of the meal. Ask for them "extra crispy" and you can't go wrong. 2. Chicken taco - tastes good but the cheese wasn't melted. If you go to the store and buy any flour tortillas, throw some pre cooked chicken pcs, and some shredded cheese... same thing. No presentation, nothing special. WEAK SAUCE! 3. Zucchini Fries - complete let down! SOGGY AS COULD BE! No flavor. They were completely undercooked and I only ate a few because they were disgusting! Either the cooks don't know what their doing, don't care, or quality control is non existent. One of the three. 4. Caesar side salad - WORLDS smallest SIDE SALAD! $3 for a salad in a very small cup! Unreal! Complete rip off! McDonalds has a better quality $.99 side salad that is 2 x bigger than this pathetic overpriced side item. 5. Kahuna Burger - burger was ok. Bun was really good. 5 out of 10. Just average overall. 6. Cheesy beans and rice are a hit! Give them a try, you can't go wrong. Magic in a cup! Oddly enough the same cup you get a side salad in! 7. Diet Cokes are extra good here! Crunchy ice is awesome! This restaurant should ditch the tip jar and put drink stations out where the customers can help themselves. Larger side salads are a must! Bring the food out together. Put salt shakers, ketchup, and mustard out too. Learn how to cook the zucchini fries. If you're going to serve people, then do serve people. Don't make people come get their refills on top of handing customers soda covered cups and expect a tip! Problem solved!

Overall: Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. Fish tacos! I love fish tacos so I knew I had to try Jimmy Hula's ASAP. You order and pay at the front, then they deliver your food to your selected table. My boyfriend and I ordered two Big Island tacos, a Voodoo taco, a Primo fish sandwich, and Cajun fries (we were famished). The tacos come with tortilla chips, but the fish sandwich doesn't come with a side. By the time we sat down, the food started coming our way. The tacos are stuffed to the gills (pun intended) with fish. My Big Island tacos were great and tasted sweet with mandarin oranges and mango salsa. The Primo fish sandwich was HUGE and delicious. The Cajun fries were crispy, but not too spicy. I can't believe it has taken me this long to get to a Jimmy Hula's. I am psyched about returning to try more items on their menu. Yum!

Probably the best tacos near UCF. The steak chimichurri tacos will change you forever. Definitely a two-taco kinda place if you're hungry, maybe three if you're starving. Super laid back vibe, food comes in a basket with some chips. Tables made from surfboards, booths are old van seats. Solid beer selection and a surprising amount on tap. The steak chimichurri tacos are my absolute fav, but I've worked through the chicken/fish options and those are delicious too. Zucchini fries are good & the onion rings are borderline addictive. Good place to go if you're over Lazy Moon and not feelin' Chipotle.

This Jimmy Hula's is very close to the UCF campus so I used to come here often when I lived on campus a little over a year ago. I hadn't been to back since I moved further away from campus so I decided it was time to come back for some great food. I usually order the voodoo fish tacos which are amazing, but I was feeling like having a burger so I ordered the Burnt Reynolds instead. I also ordered mojo fries to share with my fiancé. -Burnt Reynolds- It's a burger with an egg, bacon, American cheese, ketchup, and chips on it. The burger was really tasty, my fiancé ordered the same thing and he loved his. There is just something about a burger with an egg on it that is amazing. The party was cooked perfectly and the bacon was nice and crispy (but not burnt). -Mojo Fries- These are usually my favorite but the last couple of times I came here about a year ago they were overly salty and they were too salty on this visit as well. I would recommend them but they are way too salty, they are really good when they aren't so heavy handed with the salt. Overall, the burger was great but the fries were super salty. I wouldn't recommend the fries but I would recommend the burger. The employees themselves are okay, they're not very nice but they're not flat out rude. The service is okay. The place is decorated to look like a cute beach house/shack.

Jimmy Hula's has a chill atmosphere and great fish tacos. Nice outdoor seating with beach music really compliments this place. As for the food, I would recommend trying Malibu Fish Taco or Killer Fish Taco both blackened. The Killer fish taco tops the list as my favorite taco here. Fresh fish inside flour (or corn on request) tortillas topped with cheese, crunchy cabbage and habanero sauce that has just the right bit of kick to it! Unfortunately, the past two times that I've come here, my side of tortilla chips were stale. After reading some of the other reviews, it sounds like I may be able to sub out fries for the chips. I also made a mental note to give one of the burgers a try next time. With all the new competition in the restaurant arena at UCF, I hope this Florida-based restaurant survives. Prices are a little higher which may not fit a college student's budget.

After hearing that Jimmy Hula's went downhill by one of my fellow Yelpers. I chose to go there tonight since I had to go pick up my daughter's dog and did not feel like cooking today since I remembered they has a patio area. When I arrived I just sat down at a table outside since I was not about to take a dog inside to order. After about 10 minutes one of the servers noticed me and brought me a menu and took my drink order. They have a great selection of beer but I am stuck with my unsweet tea with lime. When she returned I had decided on the Voodoo, Wipeout and Street Taco. I also ordered the Mojo Fries. She asked for my credit card which seemed odd and came back with my order all rung up. I said, "How did you know I did not want anything else?" and she just laughed and said "I'm sorry" and walked away. In about 5 minutes my fries arrived but not my tacos. The Mojo fries were nicely seasoned and the dipping sauce had a good flavor but was a bit watery for fries. If I had been brought some silverware I might have tried pouring the sauce over the fries but I had no such luck. About 10 minutes later my tacos arrived but by then my remaining fries were already cold. I started with the Voodoo taco which has "crispy" fish, lettuce, pineapple mango and voodoo sauce. To start, the fish was not crispy but flavorful. The waitress recommended the crispy but the shell was soft and not crispy. It was a good tasting taco but rather messy so be prepared to use a lot of napkins. The Wipeout was next and it has Steak and Shrimp, fries, Jack cheese salsa, avocado and Baja sauce. First off the avocado was just one big hunk on top of the taco. With that said I gave up trying how to figure out how to eat it with each bite and just ate it by itself. The meat was mostly shrimp and just one small piece of steak. It had a good flavor but I would have preferred a balance of meat and the avocado in each bite. Last was the Street Taco and I chose the pork version with Guacamole, cilantro, onion, Cotja and Crema served on a toasted corn taco. Unfortunately the taco shell was not toasted. The pork was dripping wet and the shell was soggy. The flavor was again good BUT it was a mess to eat. I had been here 3 other times with my wife and I have to admit that the attention to detail has slipped quite a bit since my last visit here. The servers had NO sense of urgency and unless the people asked for something, they were content to just keep walking. One of the girls actually looked unhappy as she was wiping down the table next to me. I smiled at her just to see her reaction and she just rolled her eyes and turned her head. I said nothing. Since none of the girls even thought my dog would want something to drink I got her water bowl from the trunk of my car since it was right on the other side of the railing, tied asked the girl at the counter for some water for my dog not entering the building. Would I recommend them is the question... If you are just looking for a place to have finger food and enjoy a beer in a relaxed atmosphere, it is great. The food is not as good as it used to be but it still pretty tasty. The staff however does not seem very concerned about making you feel special because they are just going through the motions from what I saw. This is NOT the same experience I had my last visit here and that was disappointing. I will not be coming back to this location and would not recommend it to people actually expecting customer service. I know I saw a new Jimmy Hula's open up by Gator's Dockside and will give that location a try since it is newer. I suspect that since this location is close to UCF that they are used to getting away with providing bad service to the college kids and not being held accountable. I on the other hand feel that this is a sign that they have a new manager since I was last here that does not hold his staff accountable. That is a shame because it is the closest Jimmy Hula's to me.

Great fish tacos and burgers. Quick, easy meal that is tasty and unique. Service is usually great too. Favorites are the tree hugger (vegetarian taco) and the baja. Clean and fun atmosphere.

This is one of my top places to eat. The food is extremely fresh. So many choices and combinations are available. It's very affordable as well. The fish tacos are some of the best I've ever had and great Mexican corn.

Burt Reynolds burger was amazing. It was cooked correctly. The lettuce and bacon on it were super fresh. I love biting into this burger. The chips inside weren't a big thrill but it worked out. Jimmy churri tacos were yummy too! I have to visit again to try out more. Food is great for the price also. Cool, live music on weekends :)

Well, we didn't have the best experience, and I admit some of that is probably likely to the fact that I had certain expectations going in, so we would be willing to update this review upon revisiting and trying something else if we have a different/better experience. This is a counter-service spot that has servers attending to you when they drop off your food, refill your drinks and clean up your table. We had to get up several times to ask for different things, so I'm not sure if they are intent on serving you as a normal sit-down-style server would attend to you or if it is expected for you to return to the counter for different things. The service was just okay. I was served my first appetizer when my hubs got his meal...but we were both nearly finished when the second appetizer arrived. I ended up taking it home. I ordered twp appetizers, the fried zucchini sticks - - which were okay - - (The sauce they were served with was TASTY! I could have put that sauce on everything and take it home to use every day...so good!) and the Cuban spring rolls, which I enjoyed (at home later that evening). The hubs had a burger and onion rings, which he said were okay but he wouldn't go back for a burger, and didn't think the prices were great. Anyway, despite a few things that were lacking in service, taste and price, I've heard that the fish tacos are excellent, so we will go back and maybe try a few other items to see if our experience is any better. Everyone has a bad day and everyone deserves a second chance, right?

Everyone knows about Jimmy Hula's fish tacos (the Killer anyone?), but can we please talk about how good their salads and bowls are? I got the Tropical on a whim and it. was. amazing. The mandarin oranges make it super refreshing with just a bit of tang, and I can NOT get enough of the lava sauce. Get it with fish - crispy. I always order a side of zucchini fries to go with it. They're perfect for sharing, or eating all by yourself. Again, the sauce is amazing. The best part is that everything on the menu is under $10. Yum!

This was the best burger I had on our trip. I had the Burnt Reynolds (without bacon.) I can't tell you how excited I was when I picked up my burger and yolk began dripping out! One of my biggest complaints about burgers with a fried egg is that the yolk is completely cooked/ hard. This egg was cooked perfectly. The burger would have been perfect if I had ordered it without ketchup too. The ketchup was a bit too sweet and overpowering. It was hard to taste the egg over the ketchup. I'm not sure if they normally but that much ketchup. My children both had soft tacos and enjoyed them. My husband had the inferno and said it was good. My hubby and I shared an order of the Mojo fries. The lime went well with the saltiness of the fries. They were accompanied with a miso dipping sauce. I enjoyed the fries without the sauce. My husband on the other hand loved the fries with the sauce. A fun beachy spot to grab burger or a taco.

The Tacos are great here. They are different than most restaurants. You need to get a menu from the entrance then order at the front counter. You pay for your food first. It's expensive in my book. Tacos are about $13.00 and they come with tortilla chips no salsa it cost extra but they are delicious. I rate them 4 stars for the food but 3 stars since few times they have forgotten to bring out an order to the table. If you like seafood and tacos its a must try. Definitely a lot of college students from UCF are there. Try Voodoo Taco and Killer Taco.

I have been to Jimmy Hula's 3 times now. I have stuck with the taco's because I can get burgers anywhere. All the taco's I have had have been great. I love the fresh flavors and the different combinations to choice from. I recommend the Voodoo fish taco and the steak Jimichurri but everything I have had has been great. The sides have been hit and miss the zucchini fries were a little underdone but the sauce they came with was awesome. The crack'd corn nuggets were tasty but none of them were cooked thru so they were doughy in the middle. I always get a side of guacamole to go with corn chips the taco's come with...very good guacamole (a little two garlicky for one of my friends). The University location is smaller than the Aloma location but both have a cool surf shake feel (the Aloma location has a little less of that feel). Kind of place you can kick back and chill for a few moments to enjoy friends and food. The staff has been good. They don't hoover around and are all about the business. Friendly and helpful but not trying to become your BFF. So far I have dropped about the same amount of money I would at Chipotle but the quality, variety, and flavor of the food more than makes up for the few extra dollars (and the music selection has been better at Hula's as well). I would recommend giving Jimmy a try.

Me and my fiancé are Jimmy Hula addicts. We pretty much go every single chance we get. And I'll let you all in on a secret of mine: I sometimes switch it up and go to the Winter Park location just so we don't look like complete fiends! LOL. We are proud regulars! I have a hard time understanding how anyone could leave a negative review here. The atmosphere and service is laid back, therefore, you can't expect to be waited on. You order and pay at the counter, they always bring out side items(appetizers) first, just like any other restaurant. If for some reason, you decide you want to order something else, you simply get off your butt and go to the counter. I have tried almost half the tacos on the menu and never been disappointed with any of them. Not sure how the burgers compare, but why would you go to Jimmy Hulas for a burger you could get anywhere else? The tacos are the star here! This is hands down one of my favorite places to eat out. Staff is chill, the reggae music is my favorite, and the vibe is awesome enough to keep my 15 month old entertained and happy. (If you have a toddler you understand how important it is to find a place that makes mommy, daddy, and baby happy!!).

Best place in town to get a shrimp or fish taco. Super laid back atmosphere, and plenty of beer on tap. I've never been disappointed eating here and the prices are really good.

Ordered the Tree Hugger Taco, it was one of the best and freshest tacos I've ever had! Kids ordered the Aloha Burger and ate every bite :)

We went in to order food and they had a really great beer or on special. We went In on 07/07/15 and the bar tender was amazing. She talked us into 2 beers and we ordered food to go. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was just as good. We will be back ASAP. The staff was the key to the whole restaurant and is the reason we will return soon.

'Twas a lazy Sunday afternoon, and the hunger had arisen. Tacos were craved, and so it was to a place called Jimmy Hula's that I was brought to. The very first thing I noticed was the sheer lack of parking at the establishment, in general. Ultimately, we had to park in the adjacent Tilted Kilt's parking lot, leading me to wonder if we were going to get booted or get in some sort of trouble for it. Entering the restaurant is kind of like entering a Margaritaville or something, but way more relaxed, and mellow. It's not the largest establishment there is, but there appeared to be a decent amount of seating, as well as a bar that could seat maybe like 8-10. Ordering is done at a counter to which the food is then brought to your given number. At around $4 a taco, I did think they might have been a hair on the pricey side, but when the food arrived, and I saw just how stuffed the tortillas were, I could kind of justify the price. I ordered a Voodoo (fish) and a Pipeline (pork), and they were both fully stuffed tacos. Overall, I found the quality of the tacos to be pretty much, three star quality. They may have been stuffed to the gills, the amount of garnish kind of took away from the flavor of the proteins. Especially in the Voodoo, where it was mostly taking bites out of lettuce and mango salsa with hints of warm fish. Between the two tacos, the Pipeline Pork was the superior. The queso was pretty good though, as Jimmy Hula's serves it thick. I don't like quesos that are too souped down, and have a high risk of dripping all over you. Positive points for this. Beer is cheap, and as an Atlanta resident, I like seeing that they serve Sweetwater. There are times when I want to be adventurous and try new beers, and then there are days in which I just want something I know I like, and go with that. It was the latter kind of day when I visited Jimmy Hula's, and I was glad to see Sweetwater on tap. Overall, three stars is pretty sufficient on how I felt about Jimmy Hula's. The prices aren't egregious, the beer is comforting and cheap, and the food was just okay. Bonus points that the car wasn't booted or towed next door. It's however a comfortable setting, which there is something to be said about such, and I might not seek this place out again, but at the same time, I don't think I'd really object if someone driving decided to stop here either. It's worth a second shot, at least.

My new favorite go to restaurant. Their prices are pretty decent and the food is always delicious. I get the Kickin chicken taco and chips and queso and have never been let down. Service is also great!

I was so excited when Jimmy Hula's opened a location near UCF! I always went to the original one in Winter Park but this one was much closer to school. I love the decor and the surfboard beer tap. Live music on the weekends is always a great time. I actually live in Southern California now and Jimmy Hula's still has the best fish tacos I have ever eaten. I crave the Voodoo, the Malibu, and the Baja all the time and can't wait to go back and visit!

This place is so yummy! My boyfriend and I love it, we come here frequently. I would say one of the best things about this place is the Mojo fries, you cannot go wrong with these. The tacos and burgers are also very good, my favorite is the kickin chicken taco, very nice and crunchy. I would highly recommend checking this place out!

This review is for the new Hunter's Creek location. I had heard so much about this new restaurant where Blockbuster used to be, in that same plaza that has the pet store The Purple Pooch, a nice Publix, a McDonald's and other stuff. It's like one or two blocks away from the mall The Loop. Anyway, we went for lunch today and ordered four different tacos, because they (and I) recommend two of them. If you are a light eater, then you'd be fine with one and some fries or something. All tacos were delicious. This was the first time I had a fish taco, and I'm now a big fan. I tried two different kinds, the Voodoo (Crispy Fish, Lettuce, Pineapple Mango Salsa & Voodoo Sauce...err...honey mustard like sauce) and the Wipeout (Steak & Shrimp, Fries, Jack Cheese, Salsa, Avocado, Baja Sauce) and the were both great. I think the Voodoo was slightly better. My girlfriend had the Standard with pork and the Luau without the Teri sauce, because it's mayo-based and she hates mayo. She also enjoyed hers although she said the pork wasn't as flavorful as Chipotle's carnitas. We also tried the mojo fries and the zucchini fries. The mojo fries are a bit too citric in the taste, but if you dip them in the dip they come with, they are easier to eat in large quantities. I think they are best paired with beer. The zucchini fries are sweet deep-fried vegetable madness. If you are not opposed to killing a vegetable's goodness this way, they are very tasty. Everything was tasty, filling, and affordable. The setting is also very casual and friendly. The staff is attentive and inviting. The only thing they need is smoothies, because they only got soda, beer and sweet/unsweet tea. For a restaurant that's evoking the islands, it definitely needs smoothies. Go check this place out before it explodes! I think it's good enough to make the nearby Tijuana Flats and Chipotle be a bit worried. They are the new kids in the block, and they are bringing great flavor and good vibes! I see myself checking them out repeatedly!

This place is probably one of my favorite discoveries in 2014...I've literally tried every taco, and can give you a proper psychological profile of each one. The Wipeout and The Killer are my favorites - both very different, and good examples of what Jimmy Hula's does really right. The toppings are bright & fresh; the soft shells nicely grilled. Cool décor, good reggae vibes, and super-friendly staff. Good beer selection for a fast-casual spot (and $8 Kona pitchers are a steal). Really good portion sizes, too - these aren't those wimpy two-bite gourmet tacos. Mojo Fries or Jimmy's Corn if you need a side (to share). My only poke at them would be that I think the fish is frozen, although still good quality. Nice outdoor covered patio at this location, too. Regretfully, I have not even tried their burgers yet - every time I leave I say next time I will, until next time comes and I get sucked in by the tacos again and again!

Jimmy Hula's is a down to earth burger and taco joint for someone looking for a casual meal. They don't pretend to be something they aren't. The burgers average $7 and the tacos (comes with chips) are around $3-$4. You order at the front and a server will come by and give you your food. I ordered the Aloha burger with teriyaki and pineapple, and the Luau taco with teriyaki steak and what not. The burger leaked sauce and juice, which, while messy, made for a nice meal. The taco, which is filling by itself, was quiet good with a grilled tortilla outside and tasty chunks of steak. We also ordered a bucket of 5 Shock Top and Purple Haze craft beer for $12.50 because we didn't want the equally economical 5 for $10 Landshark beer bucket. We went on a Friday night and were pleasantly surprised with live music, courtesy of someone playing the guitar and singing in the back corner. Even though it was relatively busy, multiple servers came by to clear our empty trays and ask if there was anything else they could get us. Being a causal restaurant, the food more than meets your expectations. Coupled with the price, how can you complain? Overall, the price, quality of food, and Friday night atmosphere makes for a surprisingly good meal.

This is the third time a burger has been served raw. When brought to the managers attention he refused to correct the overlook because half of the burger was consumed. It appalled me that the managers response was not apologetic and that he did not attempt to correct the overlook, but instead blamed the patron for not finding the raw meat earlier. Regardless of when raw meat is discovered, this should not be the response. We are very disappointed because we do love the tacos here, but this is sincerely the third time this has happened.

Quailty and service has declined tremendously. While i still enjoy their unique offerings its hard to enjoy a meal with your significant other when the food ordered together comes out seperately, by more than just a few minutes. So you either eat alone, or eat cold food. I Only order togo now.

This location for Jimmy Hula's is much better than the Aloma Avenue one. The only thing I did not like about the Aloma Ave. one is their lack of A/C. This location is much better in those respects, but the food quality is top notch as usual!

I've had better but i've definitely had worse. I find the menu to be overly confusing. There is no real need for there to be so many options with fish tacos. I'd suggest they streamline the menu and do a few things really well. All that being said, it's high on my list of lunch spots since it's fresh, fast, and if you order correctly it can be relatively healthy. Pro Tip: The fish tacos can be ordered on Corn Tortillas if you request it. (normally they use flour)

This is the second closest thing to Hawaiian grinds I have found in Orlando. Nice atmosphere. We enjoyed the fish tacos. Definitely a nice beachy vibe to it. It does get pretty busy sometimes though. The food was good and the service was nice. Overall, a decent meal with friendly staff.
