Great happy hour! 2-for-1 drinks are ridiculously huge to the point that I thought my one margarita was really my 2-for-1 in one glass.. it wasn't. The portions of food are also quite generous and pricing is reasonable. That said sometimes the food is great and other times not-so-great and I'm never quite sure which I'm going to get. The service is generally pretty good and quick. We go here often because its one of the few sit downs on University with good drink specials.

It's not often I gush over a chain restaurant, but I've been to this spot 6 times in the past 2 months and have been lucky to no encounter the issues the others have reported. As a chain resto this one hits the mark perfectly, I've been to El cerro, Habanero, Taquito Talisca and you name it. The food and the service have been excellent. I luv luv their Salsa and grateful it's not so overpowered by red onions. Yes you can reserve a table before arriving and avoid the wait. Mycityeats have a coupon for Azteca good for their OBT Location. Pros of azteca Great quantity for the price Flavorful Salsa, the wait staff will replenish you when it's empty for free. Cons Sometimes the wait staff barely speak English which can be hard. It gets really loud in the evening not a great place to dine with kids. For the price and the quantity you betcha I will be living there :) Enjoy, Maggie

I wanted to update my review because I found a healthy and delicious option for people who are coming to Azteca and may not want anything involving fried cheese. :) The last time we visited, I ordered the chicken soup. Now, this was no ordinary chicken soup. At $8 for a bowl, this is a meal. It's a huge bowl chock full of chicken, tons of veggies, and delicious broth. Even cooler, it comes with a side of rice and chopped jalepenos, cilantro, lime wedges, and onions so that you can flavor the soup to your liking. It's like being your own chef! I didn't feel like I was missing out by not eating a regular meal, and I was plenty full when I stopped eating (and there was a ton left over!). It's definitely an option if you're looking for a lighter meal or watching calories.

Great food and service. Most importantly, they are consistently good regardless of the day or time. Love the smokey flavor of their salsa.

This is a great Mexican restaurant. The best in the UCF area, in my opinion. Service has always been very attentive and professional. I've eaten here about five times so far, and I cannot over stress how impressed I am with the service. The servers are very quick to set up your table with complimentary chips and salsa (which are both very good), and food and drink orders are expedited quickly. I have never been kept waiting for service in this restaurant. The food is consistently well prepared and attractively presented. Portions are very generous, and the prices are reasonable. The interior of the restaurant is tastefully decorated, with high ceilings and a spacious feel. There is also a large full-liquor bar area segregated from the main dining room. This is a good place for dinner with family, friends, or a date.

I hit Azteca for lunch after hearing they have proper (chunky) salsa. Nothing worse than watery, runny salsa. Can I get an amen?! I ordered the lunch special - the macho, a.k.a. humongo/gigantor/behemoth burrito. That was one big burrito. I got the chicken version and it was pretty good. The chicken had a good amount of seasoning but the rest of it didn't have a lot of taste. I'd pour salsa right on the thing if I were them. I did that, of course. And I'll do it again tonight when I have the other half for dinner. Seriously, that's a big burrito.

Gotta drop them to two stars. Have been there four times now, I think a fair amount to get a good idea of the place. The food, inconsistent. The service, ditto. I have good service twice (same girl), mediocre service once, and awful service the last time I went in. Wait for seating: 15 minutes (they said 20, and it was a Saturday night so this was a good start) Wait for waitperson to come to our table: 10 minutes Time for ordered drinks to arrive: another 10 minutes Then she's gonna "drop something off and come back and take our order". 10 minutes later she returns to do so. I think she dropped something off across town. Then we wait, and wait, and wait. We watch people seated after us eat, get to go boxes, and pay. From the time we sat down to the time food arrived at our table was 50-60 minutes. Not for other tables, mind you, just for ours. Our waitress would disappear for 10-15 minutes at a time. She wasn't at other tables, she was just gone. She never asked how our food was. In case you're wondering, it was lukewarm. Probably because it sat there for 10 minutes after they cooked it waiting for her to get it. For the price I expect a certain level of service and food, but honestly I haven't had anything there I couldn't get at 10 other places, for less money. To me, this is a sign of bad management. She's not well trained, and the rest of staff fails to notice a table of three people, empty glasses at the end of the table. No food, no drink, no service. Meh, I'm done with this place. Not recommended.

DO NOT EAT HERE!! Waste of money and horrible food. Read on for detailed review. I just had to report on this one ASAP because I don't want anyone to make the same mistake I have made. If you are a mexi-addict as I am, then this place will not suit you. I was miserable after spending 25+ just for my own dinner and drinks the other night. I was driving down university and It was late which was a plus that this restaurant was open and boasted staying open until Midnight. I drove down looking for an actual restaurant to eat at, and I figured Im always game for mexican I wanted to give this fairly new late nite a shot. It was about 1030pm, I was starving and I was greeted by a ditsy blonde who had no idea about the menu or what food was decent or even what came with what. i took it with a grain of salt. So i browsed the enormous menu very similar types of dishes to local mexican fare(El Cerro) etc. I ended up going safe and ordering the Choose 2 Chicken Chimichanga, and Beef Chilli Relleno. After a beer and 6-10 mins she appeared with my food. Now on to the subject. This restaurant was so horrible that I could not even eat more than half the Chimi, and the Relleno was so nasty that it tasted like a bell pepper rolled in shake n bake. The outside was not even corn, and the inside and the pepper itself were old or something, tasted like it has been marinating in garbage juice. The Chimi was like rubber, it was not even fried, I had to use a steak knife to cut it, and I still had trouble chewing up the pieces. I asked them how long they had been open and they said 4 mos, in my opinion this is a fair enough time to get your kitchen in order. Generally I will give any restaurant a second chance. But I felt ripped off and I felt like a traitor for even trying another Mexican Resto on university. Even though El Cerro was closed I should have waited to eat mexican another day because no one around here has any idea how to make mexican besides the mexicans at the Habaneros/El Cerro's around Orlando. I will never EVER go back to Azteca, and I don't recommend it even if you were stuck on an island with nothing to eat but pooh. I would eat the pooh, probably would taste better. I give this place maybe 3-4 mos to stay open. Once everyone eats there once it won't be able to sustain. There is no coming back from food that horrible. Sorry Azteca, you need to hire some mexicans to learn how to cook good mexican food. Or just go eat at El Cerro a block away and maybe you can learn a thing or two. DO NOT EAT HERE

Very good place! Great Food and great drinks. The decor sets the mood with all the old black and white movie pictures.

I have been a fan of this chain for years since I lived in Seattle. I was very excited to learn that this location was opening. On my second visit there, I was recognized by a server that had waited on me one time at the OBT location. He remembered exactly what I had ordered and has continued to wait on me on other visits. The chicken carnitas tastes the same every time and the chips and salsa are a wonderful starter. I did get the cheese dip with friends one time and was slightly disappointed that when you ask for it with Jalapenos, those come on the side and not mixed into it. The guac tastes excellent with the food and should be offered as a side if it is not already. I will continue to visit this location as often as possible.

Yesterday, for Taco Tuesday we tried Azteca D'oro. My son and I have been searching for a new place and little did I know this one was so close to where I work. We arrived just before happy hour ended, which is 6:30 pm. Walking in to the place I remembered when it was an Uno's. They have done more than just change the name and colors. They actually put up walls to make the dinning a little more intimate, plus split the entrance so you can go straight into the bar area if you wish. Good choice! The colors are kind of loud, but go flow with a "Mexican" theme. The temp is chilly, so if you can't stand cold restaurants bring a jacket. The music seemed kind of loud, but maybe thats because I wasn't drunk? The menu is well laid out and the pictures dont' look as if they were taken from a polaroid as so many others seem to do. The prices are moderate but maybe a dollar or two higher than other restaurants of the same genre. We were sat immediately, within a few seconds of being seated we were greeted with chips and two types of salsa. One spicy and the other mild. however, the gentleman didn't describe which was which. The chips were fresh and the salsa was delicious. A few minutes later we were greeted by our waiter and he took our drink order. Because it was before 6:30 I had the opportunity to get a 2 for 1 rita. So, I ordered. however, after arriving, I realized the rita was way too large to consume two and drive home safely. So, i stuck with only one. However, I like that and will be back on an evening i can enjoy both. :) My son ordered one hard shell taco and I had a combo. 1 enchilada, 1 taco, pinto beans and mexican rice. The taco was great. The chicken enchilada was perfect, rice was moist and full. Overall the food was very tasty, fresh and looked equally good. The service was quick, efficient, friendly and helpful. The place looks pretty well laid out and designed. The food was great and so i can't really complain about too much. 5 stars would be a little much though, so a good solid 4 from me.

Great dinner tonight! loved it! ordered the Pollo Malaztlan! loved the sauce and chicken. Great atmosphere- they def. tried to make it as authentic as possible. They could have been playing first off louder music and maybe even mariachi music. Restrooms were very clean. Great service from staff, very friendly and made sure everything was taken care of. Food came out in a timely manner! I am def. going back1

Went for Taco Tuesday for lunch with a client and this was some Mexican I have been waiting for since I have moved to Florida 7 years ago. Too bad they don't have one of these in the Brandon area yet, if they did all of the Mexican places would be doomed. My client had the taco special (Taco Tuesday), and I had a taco and chili relleno combination. The tacos was simple, fresh and the meat was not laden with grease or dried out by having the meat constantly heated. The chili relleno was a little tough, but not too terribly disappointed because it still tasted good, hence my four star rating versus five. The rice and beans were light and plentiful and the service was excellent. BTW the chips are very good, the salsa was a little too acidic for my taste, but my client was lapping if up like there was no tomorrow. When I go back this place is definitely on my list of places to go.

Azteca D'Oro is on our side of town and we were curious despite the mixed reviews. We treated my parents who are Mexican food aficionados to lunch there. I have to say that the food was pretty average Mexican fare. The menu had your typical Mexican food items (burritos, enchiladas, tamales, tacos, etc.) along with multiple combination options one would expect. They offer either white or Mexican rice with most entrées, and you can get refried or ranchero beans. They also had a good selections of meats prepared different ways including pork. I prefer chunks of beef instead of ground variety. Finally, there were a few vegetarian dishes but these items were not included as options on combinations. The service was top-notch. The server was knowledgeable of and helpful with the menu, and we were never left looking for someone to refill our glasses or the chip basket. We sat in the center dining room, and it was REALLY NOISY once it filled up. Overall, a good dining experience, but nothing outstanding in the food department. My parents agreed.

I've been here on two ocassions for dinner. The drinks here are huge (the sangrias in particular) but make sure you come for happy hour (3-6:30 at this location) otherwise the drinks are expensive. The service was decent and the meals came out fairly quickly from the kitchen. They definitely aren't shy when it comes to refilling your chips and salsa but the salsa is a bit watery for my taste. Food is pretty comparable to other Mexican restaurants. Portions are really big so come hungry!

  • Margaret E.

It's standard American Mexican food at hilariously high prices. Nothing special at all.

    (2)
  • Eric G.

Just like many of the other reviews I felt that this was not all that special but was more expensive. We also waited for our order to be taken and our check to be dropped off for longer than I would have expected for a lunch when they were not very busy. The food was average. I had a beef taco and a chicken taco which were pretty good, but I tried my wife's taco salad which was cheap chopped salad with flavorless ground beef and almost no cheese. I will be trying a few other places because this should be easy to beat.

Azteca on University Blvd is new to the East Orlando area, and offers something completely different compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area. I am a big fan of Azteca due to the consistency they provide between the establishments. Service is always pleasant and they keep the warm chips and salsa flowing. The serving sizes are large, so be prepared to eat. I would also recommend having a large Amber Dos Equis! The menu is very versatile and one thing doesn't stand out more than any other. In this case that's a good thing! The usual server that I request is Mario, since I was a fan from the OBT location. If you are in the area, give them a try!

A group of 6 of went on a Thursday night one time. While we were there they had a live mariachi group that would go around table to table. If it is your birthday, they'll have you were a sombrero and serenade you. Drinks: Talk about 2-4-1 margaritas! You can order frozen, on the rocks, strawberry, mango, watermelon, and so much more. If you can handle more then 2, you're a champ! Food: So many options to choose from that you'll definitely need a minute or two to look over the menu. All six of us ordered something different, from your class burrito (super big) to enchilada and all of were satisfied. Ugh...some of us wanted to unbutton our pants there was so much food. The only thing I was a little disappointed in was the rice. It was tasty, I just wish it had some vegetables in like I've come to know from other Mexican restaurants. Needless to say we'll head that way again, maybe on $5 taco night.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant; however, the last time I visited, LEO, who says he's a manager, does not understand customer service. When I ordered Nachos and asked if I could have the white liquid cheese for my nachos instead of the sprinkle cheese that they melt on the chips, he said only if he charged me full price for a appetizer cheese dip. So that means $6 more just to take off one cheese and give me SOME of the other. You would think he could have come up with a better compromise... but he did not. Maybe a $2 up charge, but he stood firm on his decision and because of this, I won't return. I have given this business so many compliments to people at work and my sports place that now I'm so aggravated by this greed, that I can't consciously recommend this place any longer. It's too bad, because I would eat there 2-3 times a week with my grandfather and friends. Oh well... there's another business owner who is more willing to give the customer a fair shake.

I got the mole chicken and was more impressed with the rice. The rice was very good but the chicken was a definite meh. The chips and salsa were also good but prices were higher than I was expecting. I'd get the enchiladas next time as they sounded real good and were the best bang for the buck. The staff was also real cool but our server was a bit slow. Another con is they serve Pepsi, bleh. Make sure to get the Mexican rice though, it was probably some of the best mexican style rice I've had in a long time.

This place had been there for a while so we decided to check it out. The service was speedy. The food had some flavor but not a lot. Their fried ice cream was just ice cream covered with cereal. That was a disappointment :( overall it was an ok experience, but if you go make sure you take fun people with you that is what made my time there fun.

Just a little bland and a little too predictable as far as environment and menu.

Well I liked this in spite of a menu or server challenge. I ordered the vegetarian fajitas, but before I did, I asked the server if it included the upgraded vegetables for the chicken and steak options. He assured me that it did. Then when he did his table check and saw a massive pile of zucchini and squash, uneaten, I thought he would ask what happened. The bottom line is the vegetarian fajitas are very basic - onions, squash, zucchini, with a few carrot slices. No mushrooms, no broccoli. I liked the place otherwise. The chips and salsa were good, and the service was good.

This was simply wonderful! The service was great, they were more attentive than most places I've ever been, and the food's perfectly authentic. The portions are beautifully generous, and the owner walks around all night, making conversation. Welcoming, delicious, authentic, relatively cheap, definitely a place to try!

The food was mediocre, the service was painfully slow. Maybe it would have been better if I would have had a few margaritas. I barely recognized the place from when it was Uno's - it looked good inside. Too bad the chef and our server wasn't as attentive to detail.

no, no, no. this place is not good. their margaritas are horrible. if you like watered down, non-tasting margaritas then this is your place. don't get the chicken carnitas. yuck! the chicken is tasteless and it's fried for no reason! My parents have been here for dinner and from what I can tell from the reviews others seem to agree that the dinner menu is better and that the lunch here stinks. I've have GREAT mexican food and this is not it. Far from it. I don't live in Orlando so I can't speak to the other locations, but this one had BAD service, ever so slooooow, and when I brought up the fact to our server that the margarita was watered down her response was, "well, i didn't make it". UHHH, ookaay? Yeah but you work here and served it to me so who else should I say it to??? I can't with this place. All around sloppy. Don't waste your time. Go to Chipotle across the street. lol seriously. lmao!

I am almost didn't stop in today based on all the reviews- good thing I decided to be adventurous! I'm not sure what people are expecting- this is your typical, tasty Mexican fare at a more than fair price, service was fine, atmosphere was great. The chips were hot and crispy and brought out as soon as I sat down. Salsa had good flavor (no heat- but that is okay with me). I ordered the lunch taco special and liked that I had a variety of filling & even bean options. I tried the picadillo (a mix of beef & pork- flavorful, if a little oily) & also the black beans/yellow rice side (black beans had chunks of onion and tomato- good flavor). I paid 5.95 for exactly the right amount of lunch for me (if you are a big eater, go for a larger combo). Food arrived quickly and looked good, tasted good. My friend ordered a taco salad plus guac- it was just okay, but you can only expect so much from ground beef, lettuce & tomato, right? It was fresh and a good size portion. I will be back (especially because I really want to try the sopapillas next time!)

I have been going to this place since 2012 and I love it! The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable! They have excellent lunch specials especially Taco Tuesday! I noticed that many people have complained a little about the price. Well I think it is comparable to many other restaurant prices $13-18. The portions are enormous which compensates for the price! You can feed two people from entree so I am not sure what all the fuss is about regarding that. The portions are definitely worth every penny in my opinion! Many times I have to take my food home and I can eat! I never had a bad server in the three years that I have been there! Many were very polite, greeted us with eager and very professional! Servers always checked on us regularly and our food came out with in a reasonable amount of time!! I never had bad entree and it tasted fresh and piping hot!! The drinks are similar to many other places. No matter where you go, drinks will always be $$ unless you go during happy hour! They do make some big Margaritas! You will enjoy happy hour! Top shelf ones are the way to go and you will know where that extra money went. I will be returning as always!!!

We have eaten here a handful of times and always had a good meal. The prices are a little on the high side for Mexican, but the quality is good and the portions are quite large. Free chips and salsa, as you would expect. The queso is good as well -- a white queso with spinach. We have had a variety of entrees and enjoyed them all. My favorite is the Echiladas Rancheras. I expect we will visit often when we are in town. Azteca is very close to UCF.

#200!!!! First off I feel this place should be classified as Tex-Mex, or Americanized-Mexican food. I am not saying that as a bad thing. We started of by getting some queso with chorizo in it, which I am never complaining about melted cheese to dip chips in, The only thing lacking was the amount of chorizo, for $2 extra I should get more than 3 to 4 tiny pieces. I got the Tacos al Pastor, which is marinate pork diced on corn tortillas, which I was happy about because most places have a choice between flour and wheat tortillas. Way to keep it authentic. It tasted great and I would get it again, but not after I had a couple other of there dished that I had my eye on. I need to try and remember this place, but I have a soft spot for Tijuana Flats which is near by.

We were in the mood for some Mexican food and after living in Texas, I have had plenty of AUTHENTIC Mexican food... With that said... I know the difference between GOOD Mexican food and BAD Mexican food. This was by far the worst Mexican food ever placed in front of me... When we walked in, I was pretty excited because the place reminded us of a place we loved back in central Texas. I snapped off a few pics and was truly excited. We sat down and the chips and salsa should have been a clue but we gave the place a chance. The chips were OK and the salsa was FAR from authentic. Meh is the best way to describe it. My wife ordered a Mango Margarita and as usual it is iced tea with lime unsweetened. I will take her word for it but she said it was sickening sweet and this woman NEVER sends back a drink. Well tonight she did and ordered a regular margarita. She was not very pleased with it either and said it was bland. I will have to take her word for it since I am allergic to alcohol and can't confirm it personally but my tea was lacking in the flavor department as well. We decided to try a cup of Sopa Azteca (Hearty chunks of tender chicken breast and fresh avocado with tortilla strips and shredded cheese in a rich chicken broth) and Azteca Diablo Shrimp & Tequila Chowder (A creamy chowder of chorizo, shrimp, green chiles, tomatoes, cilantro and jalapeños in a rich clam broth with a hint of Chipotle and Tequila) and to be blunt, they were OK but neither of them had a lot of seasoning. Meh is the best way to describe BOTH of them. My wife ordered the Ceviche (Prawns in lime juice, onions, tomatoes, jalapeños, cilantro, garlic, salt and black pepper. Served with three (3) tostaditas) and I took a bite and so did she... There was very little seasoning and she did not want it. The look on her face was... I am ready to leave at that point. I ordered the Plato Mexicano (Taquito Ranchero ~ Crisp corn tortilla filled with chicken, garnished with onion and cotija cheese and Carne Asada ~ Filet of skirt steak charbroiled and garnished with grilled onions and a fried jalapeño pepper and Chile Relleno ~ Cheese stuffed Poblano chile, fried in a light egg batter topped with Azteca's salsa de Chile Relleno and Jalisco-style Enchilada ~ Filled with Jack cheese and dipped in a sauce of mild chiles and seasonings with onion and crema mexicana) and to be brutally honest... The re-fried beans were the best thing on the plate. I tasted everything and had my wife taste everything and I had tasted enough. My server NEVER ONCE thought to have the manager come to the table after we basically sent back MOST of what was brought to the table and were not shy about letting him know that the food was not very good. Instead he just brought me the check after asking if we wanted dessert. My wife and I were truly stunned he dared to ask if we wanted dessert. I just went to the hostess and let her know how unhappy I was and that I wanted to see the manager. My server came up and asked... "Is there a problem?" and I wanted to laugh but kept my composure and said.. "We sent back most of what you brought us and you never thought to let you manager know there was a problem." and he asked if I wanted him to go get him. You just had to be there to believe it... The manager came up and I was brutally honest about our dining experience and he took 50% off of my bill but to be honest, that was more than it was worth but I just paid and I was even kind enough to leave a tip that was far more generous than the server deserved but it was not his fault that the kitchen gave him some really bad food to serve me. I would never recommend this place to someone and even if I was given a gift card to eat here, I would throw it in the trash. To even give it to someone is a sign you really do not like them. This is a harsh thing to say but Taco Bell would have been a step up compared to the food we were served tonight.

Scroll to bottom overview. 1. The atmosphere was nice and the staff were friendly upon entering. 2. Chips were okay, not great. I've typically had better at other Azteca restaurants. Salsa tasted like a mix of fresh made salsa with some canned tomato paste mixed in. It was palatable, but not typical of my experience at other Azteca restaurants and I've definitely had way better elsewhere including Azteca. As I recall, they used to have great salsa. The servers were very slow to refill the chips and salsa even with several passes by our table where we had put the empty chip bowl and salsa bowls at the edge of our table to make them more visible. Even trying to signal them over proved futile. Finally, we got a second helping. 3. My mom ordered the Enchiladas Espinaca (Spinach Enchiladas) with mole instead of salsa verde, white rice (which automatically comes with veggie dishes, though, I don't don't why since they said the yellow rice doesn't use any chicken or meat broth) and whole Rancho beans. She added a side of guacamole. She enjoyed her dish, though was disappointed that she only found a few small pieces of mushroom in her Enchiladas and only one of them even had tomatoes in it. 4. As a drink, I ordered an horchata (one of my favorite drinks and my favorite Mexican drink). It was horrible. I've had horchata at many Mexican or Tex-Mex eating establishments. If they offer it, I'll usually order it. This stuff was definitely a pre-made flavor mix that used some sort of candied cinnamon syrup or something. I asked the server what they used because it didn't taste like real cinnamon. She said they used real cinnamon. I said, "Are you sure? I've had good, authentic horchata before." She insisted it was, but I can't say I believe her. I know servers often just claim items are "from scratch" or whatever without really knowing. I didn't drink any more of it. I couldn't... It was horrible. 5. I ordered the Vegi-Enchiladas with yellow rice substituted for white rice and whole Rancho beans. My dish came with a side of guacamole, which was nice. I asked for no cheese or crema Mexicana, so I assume they added that instead upon hearing my mind request for a side of guacamole. My first disappointment, and thoroughly my own fault, is that the enchiladas were made with flour tortillas. It was stated on the menu, but I didn't see it and when I see "enchiladas," I think "corn tortillas." I don't think flour tortillas lend well for enchiladas because they become soggy. Upon making it half way through one "enchilada," I noticed there were no mushrooms in it. I opened the other one and sure enough, no mushrooms. I told the server and showed her in the menu that it comes with mushrooms and she asked if I wanted them to bring a side of Mushrooms. Of course, I said yes, hoping they weren't canned mushrooms. The mushrooms came out and they were delicious. I took away the flour tortillas and just ate the filling with mushrooms and the leftover chips. Again, the mushrooms were amazing. Overall, the saving grace were the sautéed mushrooms. The beans and rice were good as well as the guacamole. The chips were okay, but the salsa was lacking. Oftentimes, service and attentiveness were slow. It wasn't the worst Tex-Mex dinner I've had, but it was far from the best. If I were to come here again, I'd not order the horchata, I'd swap the white rice for yellow rice as I did before and I'd ask for corn tortillas instead of flour tortillas with the enchiladas. If I had done that, it would have been an overall good meal provided I got mushrooms, as well. But for now, I can't give more than 3 stars.

Happy hour is the best hour. BOGO fishbowl margaritas are worth visiting this place. Decent Mexican food with HUGE portions. My pregnant friend got the mega burrito Monday special for 7.95 and couldn't even eat half of it. Their tortilla soup is great, a little on the spicy side. I wish they'd leave the tortilla strips off to the side so they aren't soggy already when I get the bowl. Chicken taquitos are my go-to here. Crispy and delicious. For lunch only $7.50 and it includes rice and beans as well.

Came in tonight, Friday at 8:30 PM. Having read previous reviews, expectations were average . The I have lived in Orlando since starting UCF in '06. I had never gone for fear of being let down. They definitely exceeded those expectations. As a hobby chef and amateur foodie, I am quite familiar with Mexican food and know what I like. We had a full meal: margaritas (large and plenty of teuila), an appetizer (house queso), Pollo Blanco for her and Carne Asada con Mas, services with a chicken enchilada for myself. Finished off with an order or flan. EVERYTHING was of large proportions. We didn't finish either meal, nor the order of queso prior to the entrees. The Carne Asada was perfectly grilled to a medium-rare, which is how I ordered it. Sure the salsa was a little okay, but it's free salsa! Add some salt and hot and BOOM! DEFINITELY the best Mexican cuisine I've had in East Orlando. And the best part? Our check was a whopping $66! Again, 2 drinks, an appetizer, 2 entrees and a desert. Certainly will come back when I'm in the driveway mood!

Was on business travel this past week and tried this place out. Coming from AZ where we get awesome Mexican food - I generally won't choose Mexican when I travel but I am really glad that I did with this place. The service was great, while it was slow that evening, our server was very attentive. They brought us chips/salsa right away to much on, along with water. I ordered the Chile Relleno on the recommendation of the server - SO glad I did. I got it with just cheese (he offered to have meat put in it) and it was this incredible blend of cheese and onion in a giant Poblano pepper. It came with rice and beans, along with pico de gallo and was a LOT of food. I was so obsessed with the relleno I don't even remember what my colleague had... but I know he loved it. We did order desert. We split the Canelitos... they were very yummy, but super sweet... I think we give you six, so an easy dessert to split even among three. Would return here for sure.

I have never had a bad meal here. Their salads, carne asada, fajitas, desserts...all of it tastes delicious. Portions are very generous here so keep that in mind if you want to save room for dessert!

Love their food, unfortunately their service is HORRIBILE. Absolutely horrible. We have visited Azteca over 100 times in the past year and I have to say that it has really gone down hill lately at this location. We will not be back to the University location, but are willing to drive 40+ minutes to one of their other locations because the food is so good. Besides the fact that the servers are just plain rude, don't even try calling to ask a question or place an order To Go, they will hang up on you. This has happened multiple times??? Definitely recommend the Azteca food, but not this location. Never.

Never, ever go here. It beckons you like a siren's call from the many nearby hotels. It might be curiously empty when you enter--head this warning. The service is great overall--very attentive and willing to answer questions. The food is what you'd expect from Central Florida Mexican--non-offensive and at times tasty. The worst thing about this restaurant is the "management" (Leo). They advertise "2 for 1" margaritas (plural), but fail to mention that price is only for the 1 (singular) House Margarita. The House Margarita is not good. The price for the other (rather tasty) margaritas is far too high (by a factor of two). Neither the powerless "manager" Leo , nor the owner Armando Ramos were willing to make things right with our party when we received our surprisingly high bill. Beware the siren's call! Many other fine local restaurants are available for you!!

The situation: 10pm...have been in Orlando for 8hrs with our daughter competing at UCF - drive to JAX for another competition - same day - then drive back. The team is eating pizza and we spy a Mexican Restaurant 200 meters from the hotel.....we think Margaritas and quick food. What A Mistake THE Worst Margaritas in the world. How do you screw up booze? The salsa was even worse... Would we go back: No .....it was too painful ....so we drank from our cooler and made gin & tonics in the room Sorry...have to be honest

Don't feel like its top quality, type of B quality level. Pro: dish size and service. Con: flavor.

I'm Mexican and from AZ so my standards for Mexican food are rather high. To be honest, I've just had to try and accept that no matter how many positive reviews you read on Mexican restaurants in FL, the truth is that Mexican food in this state, or this region of the country for that matter, will never compare to what you can find on every corner back home. That being said, I've been here several times and the food is good and the portions are huge. I think the menu prices are a bit inflated, but again, I'm used to being able to get a burrito the size of California for under $9 in AZ. I have tried several Mexican restaurants in the area and this one is probably the best as far as quality and dining experience goes. Service is always great which is why I come back!

This place is awesome! Authentic Mexican food. The drinks were 2 for 1 and they were huge. I ordered a taco salad and it was very good. The portion are big so you need to come with an appetite. I recommend this place if you are looking for good Mexican restaurant. I will definitely go back.

Stopped in for dinner because it is so close to UCF and our hotel. Great happy hour, 2 for 1 margaritas. Portions are huge. Only complaint is that it was a little loud near the bar.

I'm happy to have finally tried this place out! Our waiter and much of the staff were actually from Mexico which definitely added to the authenticity of the place. The prices were a little steep, but you certainly get your money's worth. I had the enchiladas, one with mole. Let it be known, mole is unique. It's not bad, just different. Imaging a mix of cocoa, cinnamon, and 18 other spices. Boom. That's it. Got it? That's really a horrible description, but it is truly unlike any other flavor I've tasted. If you're feeling adventurous, try one with mole and one with something a little less risky. I didn't get the margaritas, but wow, they looked HUGE. I'm for sure a fan of this place. It's definitely on the pricey side, but it's a nice option when you want Mexican, but you're feeling for something a touch fancier than Taco Bell.

Not Mexican at all. No salsa verde, and the salsa they have sucks! Both regular and their version of spicy, which is more smokey than spicy. Ordered authentic Mexican tacos. Nope! Onions and cilantro where put on the side and very little of both. There was 1 slice of lime that I was able to squeeze 3-4 tiny drops out of. The meat was very very dry and did not taste at all like carne asada. Tastes more like some white people taco seasoning and almost has the texture of beef jerky. They should not be able to claim Mexican food, that is not what this is!

Super! We had the fajita burrito with shrimp, amazing! The spinach enchiladas were fabulous and my husband loved the lamb shank! The service was great and we loved the atmosphere. Definitely will be back!

The chicken taquitos are amazing. The appetizer is enough for a meal. So delicious. The ambiance is pretty cool. Lots of old photographs of Mexican artist and actors. Nice staff. Quick and effecient service.

Pretty tasty! The salsa was good - roasted maybe. I would have liked a little more heat, though. I had the carnitas tacos. I had to ask for additional tortillas because I had a blowout. A double layer of tortillas would be smart out of the kitchen. It was raining and the table across from me had a roof leak over it, which was unfortunate. The waiter was great - made solid recommendations.

Seriously delicious! My mom lived in Texas for many years, she said it's the best mexican food she's had since she left Texas. I decided to move a large gathering I was planning to Azteca because it's that good. It's also really worth the price because the portions are large! I ordered fajitas for two and it was delicious! The margaritas were wonderful, Sunday it's 2 for 1 all day. I came home with 4 boxes of left overs, that's how much food we had.

Typical Mexican restaurant atmosphere with average food from what I can tell. However, the menu did have some nice looking mole dishes if you'd like to try something aside from the typical burritos and tacos. Our server was not very attentive and was actually rather clumsy spilling water a few times. Another waitress picked up his slack though and really rushed around to serve us. As for the food, the complimentary chips were nice and crisp with the salsa having a good mild flavor. I ordered chicken enchiladas rancheras with rice and beans. The enchiladas tasted good, but nothing out of this world. Typical of enchiladas, they were covered in a red tomato salsa sauce which made the insides nice and moist. While the service was mediocre (despite the waitress being very attentive in our actual server's place), the food was good in terms of Mexican food. If I'm craving Mexican food in the area, I'll probably go back because we did not have a bad experience. Next time, I'll definitely order something a little more daring now that I know the food tastes good.

Excellent ambiance, great food, the best Margaritas on the east side of Orlando!! The service was amazing, Pepe (Jose) was super sweet and was very attentive. He was kind and noticed the daughter wasn't eating her tostadas (she didn't care of them) he insisted she order something else. She ordered the chicken tenders and ate almost all of it, she was hungry. So appreciative he noticed and cared! Definitely the best Mexican food I've had in Orlando!! Thank you! Ilia

Excellent service, food and speed of delivery of the food. We asked for steak fajitas and were delicious. Come hungry, as portions are big. The Sangria tasted fresh, had the right amount of liquor and it was huge, one was more than enough. Definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone. Will definitely come back!

This was a pretty bad experience. The service was slow, the food was sub-par, and the bill was expensive. I've been to this restaurant before (usually for margaritas at happy hour) so when my co-workers suggested it I was ok. But even though we were seated immediately and our drink orders were taken, we didn't get our drinks for 10 minutes. I understand that perhaps they were understaffed, but it was the middle of lunch hour and this location is on University, so the rush (lots of empty tables) should not be anything new. That being said, we got plenty of chips while we were waiting, but had to keep requesting more salsa. I will say the chip guy was definitely on his game. When the food finally came out, mine was fine, but one co-worker didn't get what he thought, and another had to wait an extra 10 minutes to get his meal. While certainly not the worst I have experienced, I would not recommend this place if you have a limited amount of time for lunch. Happy hour margaritas are great at the bar, though.

Love the food here. This time I got their malibu coconut prawns with a banana margarita. So delicious! Their chips and salsa are top notch, as always- really fresh and peppy taste to their salsa. The banana margarita has a hint of the fruit, but is not overpowering. And their prawns were huge- immediately a plus in my book when it comes to shrimp- the breading was tasty and not too thick at all. And the sauce for the shrimp! Oh man...tangy, zesty, island flavorful, all in one mass of liquid perfection. Do not miss out on this culinary gem from them.

Tonight was the first time dining at Azteca D'Oro. The complementary chips were served quickly, hot, and the salsa was tasty and fresh. After previewing the very lengthy menu, I ordered the Enchiladas Ranchero. This dinner consisted of two enchiladas (rather small) accompanied by rice and beans. Overall, the food was pretty good. I would have said it was great if it wasn't for the large green pepper chunks in every bite. However, the rice and beans made up for this shortcoming as both we're cooked perfectly. Unfortunately, I found the women's restroom messy along with a faucet that just barely trickled water. Accordingly, I had a hard time washing my hands thoroughly. I'm sure the staff has the same issue...ugh!

Beware plates are HUGE. I ordered a chimichanga with queso on top. The food was okay but to be fair I'm not a huge fan of mexican food. The service was good and the manager stopped by to make sure our food was to our liking.

This is one of the best Mexican restaurants in Orlando, IMO. I once ate here with a friend from Mexico who is a real snob about Mexican food, and even she was impressed. The staff is friendly, courteous, and prompt, and the food is top-notch. I eat here frequently and have never been disappointed.

First authentic Mexican restaurant I've been to in years. Delicious! I had the lunch special The Famous Macho Burrito with ground beef & it was huge! I only ate a quarter of it and was getting full. I decided to try a dessert and went with the Canelitos. These little pastries were fantastic. I will be back here next time I'm craving some Mexican food. Don't think I can ever eat Taco Bell again haha

So the portions are huge. I'll give them that, however the price tag is a little steep. $13 for 3 tacos (plus rice and beans) ehhhhhhhh that seems a little much. The burrito was pretty awesome tho so I would suggest that for sure. The frozen margaritas are HUGE as well so that's worth doing too. Overall it's a pretty good place but I'm open to others

When I moved back home here from LA after a 4-year stint, I had a hard time finding authentic Mexican food. After many misses, I finally hit this place and love it. I order Carne Asada (personal favorite) a lot, but have tried much of the menu here, and can vouch for this place as being authentic, reasonably priced, and served by an attentive and caring staff. This is real Mexican (not Taco Bell...if you want that texmexamericanawhathaveya, then go to Taco Bell).

Wonderful service, food, and atmosphere every time we choose this Mexican restaurant. Large portion sizes, happy hour options, and a variety of menu choices. We consider Azteca our go-to Mexican spot since we've moved from Detroit-Metro area (with plenty of mexican restaurants in Mexican town) to Orlando. We originally and periodically attended the OBT location until an Azteca opened up on university; closer to home. We love this restaurant. Quick. Tasty. Hits the spot!

I highly recommend going on Tuesday night all you can eat taco night ... when they mean all you can eat they mean it - all for $7.49! Person at my table ate 9. Tasty tacos and they actually give you options of shell and meats. Also love the $1.99 yummy margarita !

Margaritas, chips salsa and guacamole then chimichangas. In that order and you can't fail.

Just your typical Mexican chain establishment. You can get anything you want from Azteca & tons of lunch specials. The steak is fresh and tasty. If you ask for a burrito, don't expect chipotle style. You'll get a burrito with just meat on the inside & your fixins on the side. The chips come out nice and warm and fresh salsa is always a plus.

I ordered the carnitas burrito and my wife ordered the steak chimichanga. We also ordered a chicken quesadilla for my daughter. I would like to start off by saying that everything was cooked perfectly. My shredded pork was tender, juicy, and flavorful. Same story with the steak. The chicken was cooked great, but it lacked a bit of flavor. The portions are huge, so come hungry. Overall, my burrito was fantastic. My only problem is that although this restaurant boasts to be authentic, my burrito contained celery and mushrooms, ingredients typically not found in authentic Mexican cuisine. The menu also failed to mention these additions. Not bad, simply unexpected. We finished up with a tres leches cake that was undoubtedly amazing. Just the right amount of liquid to a light, fluffy cake. Brilliant.

Perfectly average Mexican food in Orlando. Chips and salsa were nothing special. The enchiladas verdes with chicken and cheese were good. The prices are extremely reasonable and the service is fast and friendly.

We have been to Azteca numerous times and have always had great service and food. We really enjoy their happy hour 2 for 1 margaritas or 20 oz beer. My favorite dish is the Molcajete. It's a delicious Mexican Stew with lots of mushrooms and choice of beef, chicken, or shrimp. Another great dish is the Pollo a la Creama. Yummy! My husband has had the chicken mole and said it was very good. The fajitas are great as well. The prices are reasonable, and the portions are large. My husband and I will often sit at the bar and share a dinner.

Stopped in for a weekday lunch, and was underwhelmed. The portions were large, but that didn't make up for the lack of flavor. If you're really hungry, I guess you could do worse, but this place is no better than Chili's. And I say that as a someone who doesn't care much for the food at Chili's.

Been here a few times. Great tasting food and decent atmosphere. But I prefer lighter Mexican fare and this menu is full of heavier fried items. Salsa and chips are always great though! Also in the expensive end for Mexican.

My friend and I were on the prowl for a restaurant, so when drove by and saw Azteca D'Oro's parking lot packed during the middle of the week, we decided to give it a try. Despite it being crowded, we got sat immediately. A server immediately dropped down a bowl of chips, salsa and a menu so our first impression was, "Wow! Service is fast!" There was no introduction, but it was extremely busy, so we weren't bothered by it. We munched on the chips for a good 15 minutes, waiting for someone to come by and take our orders. Instead, the same server comes by again and gives us fresh chips and salsa. At this point, the salty chips and 15 minutes worth of conversation had given us dry mouths. The server picked up our old bowl and immediately turned to walk away, so my friend quickly asked her, "Do you mind if we place our drink orders now? " She nodded and left again. ANOTHER 10 minutes go by, and no one has come by to even take our drink order. It's worth noting that we were starving coming into this restaurant, but we quickly filled up on the chips. We originally planned to order a soup, an entree and were thinking of splitting a dessert. This changed over the course of that 25-30 minute wait for a server. Finally, the original server runs by and my friend manages to catch her eye. She immediately realized that we've been sitting there for almost a half hour without even getting drinks. Instead of apologizing, the server throws her hands up in the air and rolls her eyes. She didn't even say anything to us. She turned the corner and walked away, leaving my friend and I feeling slightly insulted and very ignored. A new server, one who was obviously being trained, comes over and FINALLY asks us what we want to drink. I ordered a Sprite and she orders a Coke. We also both order our soup just in case the servers decide to disappear for another 15 minutes. There was NO apology or any sort of acknowledgement that we had been sitting there obviously ignored for half an hour. The chicken tortilla soup was AWFUL. It became immediately apparent that they take the stale tortillas and throw it into the soup, hoping no one would notice. They had the taste and consistency of cardboard. Both my friend and I took about four bites before deciding we were done. The last and final nail in the coffin was the fact that we ordered Cokes and Sprites, but they tasted odd. We figured the syrup in their soda machine must have been acting up, so we asked if we could replace them because they didn't taste right. The new server told us, "Oh that's because it's Pepsi and Sierra Mist! Management told us that if someone orders a Coke product, just give them Pepsi products instead." My friend has an allergy to Aspartame, the artificial sweetener in Pepsi products and got to enjoy the rest of the night with a migraine because they tried to switch their products and hope no one noticed. We ended up bringing up all of these issues with management, who told us not to worry about the bill. He explained that they were busy, the server was being trained, but the experience was still horrendous from start to finish. We got a coupon for a free meal, but neither one of us wants to go back after our experience.

I was really excited to try this restaurant because I have driven past it a hundred times. I wish I would have kept on driving. My daughter and I were dearly quickly on a Friday night and did not have to wait long at all for drink or menu orders. At first I was impressed at their expedience, until I became annoyed at being constantly asked if we were ready to order or if we needed more salsa ( or if I needed a box, or if they could take our plates which were full of food). I felt more like they wanted me out of their restaurant than in their restaurant. I ordered coconut prawns as an appetizer. They were ok, but the dipping sauce was excruciatingly sweet. As a main dish, I had the spinach tamales, which comes with a pile of shredded cabbage, some beans, and rice. Yuck, yuck, yuck is all I really have to say about the meal. The beans were flavorless. The rice was cooked with frozen peas and carrots, which is just weird. The spinach in the tamales was also not fresh. The sauce that drenched my tamales tasted like it came straight out of a can. Actually, nothing that we ate actually seemed freshly made at all. If I wanted freezer to fryer food I would have gone to Taco Bell. The one saving grace was the coconut mojito that I ordered. But that wasn't long lived. Though I repeatedly told my server that we were not finished eating (my daughter is a slow eater and my plate was 75% full of food because I barely ate any of it), we got up to use the restroom and when we returned they had cleared the table! I didn't get to finish my drink and they had taken my keys and our things and put them behind a cash register. I will never return to this establishment and I recommend that you don't even bother. If you are in the mood for great Mexican and don't mind driving a bit, go to Señor Tequilas in Winter Springs. Don't bother with this joint.

I been here several times. I would come here more often but I moved to college park so it's s bit of a ride.. Anyways their food is pretty good. The fish tacos, combo meals, chile rellenos, tamales are all really good. Their drinks are also really good specially their coronita margarita.. However, the last time k went there the fried ice cream was not fried.. Or at least not that day.. So it was stale and chewy.. Told the waiter but he didn't look surprise and didn't do much to rectify the situation.. Anyways great food and great drinks..

Friendly service, warm atmosphere, good food. We stopped here after a conference at UCF and were happy the moment we walked in the door. A female mariachi band walked around playing music made the place seem welcoming. The waiter was very helpful with our selections and we were all generally pleased with our meals. The menu itself seemed authentic with more than just tacos and burritos.

Hungry? Two words, big portions! You will not walk away hungry. The place is pretty big inside and plenty of parking. We sat down for an extended family dinner. The food was good and I initially thought a little pricey until the plates showed up. They were big platters loaded with food. The food was good and everyone enjoyed their meals. The service was good too. Not only our server stopped by but other servers and the staff too. We even were visited by the manager, which does not happen early. The restaurant was clean. If you are around UCF and are looking for Mexican stop in. Overall, a good experience. The food was good and the service was great.

My friend and I checked this place out because it was near another restaurant that we decided against. I haven't been to too many Mexican restaurants, but I must admit that I was impressed with Azteca D'Oro. The staff was quite friendly and the atmosphere seemed appropriate was pleasant and cleanly. As most Mexican restaurants do, they start you off with some chips and salsa. Here, they give us separate bowls of salsa so my friend and I could double dip our chips. I appreciated that gesture. It's the little things, you know? The menu had a nice variety of selections. I had the carnitas tacos. The tacos were just the right size and the dish included generous portions of Mexican rice and black beans. My only complaint was the hot sauce was the same stuff you can buy at Publix. I would have preferred some house made sauce, but that's a minor quibble. My friend played Russian Roulette and decided to order something she'd never had before. She ordered enchiladas covered with mole. She said that they weren't necessarily bad, but she had never tried mole before and wasn't a fan. Our server was pleasant, and our food arrived in a timely manner. Overall, I had a great experience.

Today was my first day trying Azteca. I have heard people saying how great their salsa is and how they should bottle it up and sell it. I was thrilled to see that they had chips and salsa waiting for our table (cause we reserved for our party) already. I must say I was expected too much from it. Maybe somebody will hate me for saying this but I think publix salsa is kind of on the same level or better. It just wasn't the best. When it came to their menu, it was HUGE. The menu it self was 5 lbs in weight and it had multiple inserts. I'm also glad it was huge with pictures because I guess most people like me who aren't of Hispanic descent wouldn't know a thing about the authentic Mexican names of certain dishes. From their lunch menu I had decided to try the Majacete. It was described in the menu as a soup/stew with steak/chicken/both with cheese on top that came with re-fried beans, pico de gallo, and rice. When I got the dish, I was happy that it actually looked exactly what it was pictures. Unfortunately, I wasn't a fan of it. It base of the stew was too salty and not knowing what it is suppose to or not suppose to taste like...reminds me of a salty tomato based sauce with chicken and beef (since i order it with both). The rice was also flavored, but was also salty. I was hoping it be more neutral which would make the majacete more tolerable. I was trying to be adventurous. I guess maybe I'll stick to tacos next time...

Complimentary chips and salsa and HUGE margaritas- need I say more? The food is good, fast, and gives you the ability to have plenty of leftovers with their large portion sizes. The best margaritas I've ever had though, and they have great happy hour specials. Mon-Sat 3pm-6:30pm you can get 2 for 1 margaritas, and with the margaritas costing only $8 for a large serving, you are getting your moneys worth! They've also got a variety of flavors anywhere from your classic margarita, to mango, to strawberry! Overall great bang for your buck so I would highly recommend (especially to UCF students nearby!)

Just had an awesome lunch with husband, son and my parents. Dad had chicken mole enchiladas, Mom had the taco salad, husband assorted meat enchiladas with mole, I had the tilapia tacos and lastly our son had mini burrito. All was fresh, hot, well seasoned and the portions were large. Chips were warm and plentiful b With two gin & tonics, one top shelf margarita (& it was large) and one Corona draft the bill came to $89.

Decent Mexican place. Absolutely massive portions. Went with fiancé and we both came home with a box full of food. Tried the chile verde and chile Colorado combo. Was enough for probably 3 people!! Fiancé got the fajita quesadilla and we probably could have split that, too. Everything was good, but nothing blew me away. It was expensive for basic Mexican, too. But then again we could have split something. Service was fine.

Tried after a recommendation from a friend, not super impressed. While the menu offers a variety of food, the staff seem to have communication problems. We have three people "helping" us, some nicer than others. After rudely being told we missed happy hour by one minute because we were waiting for our waiters, we then ordered the burrito and macho combo. The waiting then began... When our food came, my order was correct but my friends was incorrect- the meats were opposite; we weren't the only ones that had problems. We also did not get the guac we ordered until we were about to leave and they still charged us for it. The drink was okay... Not worth the 9 bucks. If you are going to spend twenty bucks on a meal, don't do it here.

I purchased a deal through Living Social, which introduced us to Azteca D'Oro. Hubby and I were not familiar with this chain and headed in with no expectations, surprised to find it was one of those places we drove by without noticing on University Blvd. The restaurant was bright and cheery, clean and decorated with a southwestern flair. We were promptly greeted and seated, we arrived about 5:30pm. When we left...there was a line out the door. Note to self: good to arrive early! 2 for 1 happy hour 3pm until 6:30 had us ordering margaritas. They were OK, yellow sour mix and not limey, not my preference. There were huge and did have tequila in them, so if you like this type of margarita then hit this place up. We switched to beer and that is the way to go for us. Wow, massive draft beers (20oz) and good selection of the typical standard mid-range bar beers. Shocktops with orange and happy hubby. Chips and salsa were tasty, chips were fresh and there was good flavor on the salsa- not to oniony and a nice tomato base with chunks of roasted tomatoes. No heat, so I jazzed it up with one of the four hot sauces on the table. We ordered the Fajitas for two and enjoyed them very much. Hubby enjoyed Steak, I ordered Shrimp. Both proteins were seasoned well, arrived sizzling and served family style on a bed of sauteed onions and peppers. Nice sides and condiments (lettuce, tomato, guac, sour cream, pico, cheese) along with a choice of warm flour or corn tortillas. It's a ton of food after 2 bowls of chips and salsa and several troughs of beverages. We took home leftovers, which were great the next day. Service was attentive, friendly and our food was good.

The service and food is always good. I've never had to wait while getting my food and for the prices the drink and food portions are pretty good sizes. The menu offers more than just your typical tacos and enchiladas and I have yet to eat anything off of the menu that wasn't good. Great waitstaff.

I have been to this Azteca many times the food is ALWAYS amazing but the staff is BAD!! My boyfriend and I went in about 1.5 hours before closing, the man taking our order was less then impressed that we were not ready to order as soon as we sat down... We place our order with him and he never came back until he gave us our check! We got the happy hour margaritas and we had to ask someone walking by 2 times if we could have our next drink?!?!? The food was Amazing the salsa is good but i would skip over this place due to the staff!

Don't come on the weekend expecting to get the lunch menu served during the week. Only dinner menu on weekends. Even at lunch. Food was authentic Mexican and service was acceptable.

I'm dropping a star. I'm still a fan but have to say that I was a bit disappointed last night. I noticed for the first time last night that the kids meals are supposed to come with a dessert. At no point in time has my kid ever been offered the desert that's supposed to come with the meal. He's really not a sweets eater anyway...but it's the principle of at least being asked if he would like to have it since it's included in the price. The service is unpredictable and seemed to change with the number of patrons that walked in. At one point multiple people stopped at our table to ask if we wanted more drinks and after waiting a bit and not getting them, we had to request the drinks again. As more people ventured in around 7, the staff seemed overwhelmed. Food was still good so maybe this was an isolated incident.

Great mixed drinks and great service. Those are the two best things that I can say about this place. If you like white-people friendly Mexican food (think Tijuana Flats), then this is your joint. Otherwise, there are numerous Mexican taquerias around town that serve better-tasting authentic cuisine at a much cheaper price.

Typical Mexican food, which is pretty good, and good happy hour specials 3-6. Service can be spotty, depending in who your server is.

Friendly staff. I would go back. The only think is that I got the tacos al pastor and corn tortilla not enough meat and the tortillas taste it like oil. Too much oil on it!! Danm!' I didn't finish it. But if you like oil tortillas oil get the tacos al pastor. Lol

I took a co-worker here to celebrate her new job transfer, and I was impressed first walking in. They took the decor from the old Uno's out and made it look very festive and Mexican-Riviera looking so I was excited about what was to come. I really wanted to order the tortilla soup but I was hungry and opted for the chicken taquitos instead. They bring out chips and salsa to the table and make sure to refill the basket once it's empty, which I liked, but the salsa was bland... I know what you're thinking; "How can salsa be bland?" But trust me... it was. I even tried the chipotle salsa and it too was bland, the only thing saving it was the smokey flavor. When the taquitos arrived it looked delicious but biting into it was rather a disappointment; it simply had no flavor. I can go to El Cerro that's just down the street and get awesome chicken taquito's with a flavorful salsa Verde for less money. Or go across the way to Chipotle and get a gigantic (hormone free) chicken burrito for less as well. Keeping that in mind; nothing here really inspired me to want to come back in the future.

This place is interesting. They managed to take a closed Uno's Pizzeria, and turn it into a Mexican joint, which they did a pretty good job with. I wasn't aware this was a chain based out of Washington, so the random "TM"s on the menu make sense to me now. I cant say I know the true origin of Pollo Fundido (Mexican or Mexican Inspired), but I had it, and its excellent. It would have been better if they used jalapeños in the dish, but I generally say that about everything. The menu has plenty of options, which sometimes its hard to decide on one thing. What I like about this place, is they have more than the standard combination platters, tacos, and burritos. They have a sections in the menu with just Carne and seafood dishes, which I need to go back and try the Chile Verde. They have a good selection of Mexican beers on tap, and several types of margaritas. Price point is decent. You get plenty of food without breaking the bank.

This place was so disappointing! I ordered the mucho burrito which was HUGE, unfortunately it was so disgusting. The biggest turnoff was the frozen peas and carrots that keep appearing in the middle of the burrito. REALLY frozen peas and carrots in a Mexican burrito. I will not be going back to this place again! I am still looking for authentic Mexican food in the Orlando UCF area.

Really nice margaritas and good classic Mexican dishes. More importantly, the staff is friendly and efficient and the restaurant is clean and inviting.

I think people confuse big portions with something tasting good. They didn't have traditional tacos, which consist of your tortilla, a protein, onions, and ciliantro. Everything they had was more Tex-Mex than anything else. But hey, the drinks were big and that's what all the college kids really care about.

My wife has been driving by this new Mexican restaurant every day for a while now just waiting for it to open. Having read reviews for the other locations of this restaurant, we were pretty excited to try it. We visited on the first Saturday night they were open - arriving at 7pm. We expected there to be a crowd, so we were unsurprised when they told us it would be a 45-60 minute wait for a table. As of our visit, they didn't use a pager system, so you need to stay in the foyer or near the entrance outside for the hostess to find you when your table is available. What we did not expect was that the 45-60 minute wait would actually be less than 15 minutes. I'm not sure if the hostess just didn't know how to estimate table times, or if some people waiting just decided they didn't want to wait anymore - but we weren't going to complain. Entering the dining room, the restaurant looked like your typical Mexican restaurant for the most part. Thankfully, instead of the standard Frieda paintings, there were photos from what I assume were Mexican movies. There was also a chandelier made of Corona bottles hanging in one room. We noticed that despite there still being people waiting for tables, only about 2/3 of the tables were being used. I don't know if they were understaffed as far as servers go, or if they just didn't want to back the kitchen up too much. I know it's a hard call to make - annoying customers with a wait, or subjecting them to hindered service, but I'm grateful they chose to just make us wait a little longer instead of giving us sub-par service. The menu is a pretty expansive one with options for just about everyone. The vegetarian menu only had about 4 options, but I assume that like most Mexican restaurants, you could get most of the items without the usual meats if you wanted. One thing that we noticed - and concerned us - is the fact that the prices on the to-go menu that we had been browsing while we waited were higher than the ones on the dine-in menu. One item that had piqued my wife's interest was $2 more to get to-go. The chips and salsa were amongst the better ones we've had at restaurants and there are a few hot sauces on the table should you need a little extra heat (I always do). My wife enjoyed their sangria, but it was nothing outstanding. For our entrees, we ordered a spinach enchilada and the pollo fundido - tortillas filled with chicken and then smothered in jalapeno cheese sauce. The portions were a good size for the price, but everything was just very mediocre. The rice was dry and the refried beans were watery. The entrees filled you up enough to satisfy your hunger, but didn't do a lot for our taste buds. We watched the servers running around, looking harried and like they barely knew what to do. Still, everything came out in a timely manner, everyone was friendly, helpful and professional when they were tableside. The servers can easily get up to speed with a little more experience - I wouldn't worry about them at all. My concern is the forgettable food that I have little interest in trying again.

What would restaurant impossible think if they saw the decor. First impression was "is it 1980". Decor is sad. Now for the food as we sat waiting for our table we perused the menu. Ouch, over priced faux Mexican. BUT. When our order came the portion was very large (one entree was enough for the two of us). We ordered the Carne asada y mas. Nicely seasoned skirt steak. Tasty rice and beans. The relleno was mediocre - too fluffy. We were glad the food was decent because we really didn't believe it would be good at all. And we have gone back and shared the dish again but ordered a different side with the dish.

This is the third time I've been here and the first two times was good but it was at dinner time with a different waiter (male) and this time was at lunch with a waitress Dianna who seemed a little unsure how to actually serve a table. Whether it is because of poor training or poor management it can possibly be a problem down the road when it comes to the survival of this place because for some strange reason most restaurants fail in the university area by ucf especially if they don't have good service and let's face it when your spending anywhere from $50.00 to $100.00 dollars for a meal you should at least get good service. These days it seems as if common sense isn't so common anymore. Things like an empty glass or running out of salsa and chips doesn't seem to matter to wait staff.. but when it comes to being extra nice and wishing you a good day while they are dropping off the check is normal hoping for that 20% tip being attentive while you having your meal isn't.. In this visit while the food has its up and downs every time I go and is not as consistent as it should be but I have to say that their Mexican seafood cocktail on the appetizer section of their menu is to die for. The waitress seemed to be more attentive to people who spoke Spanish while never even really asking me but asking my girlfriend if everything was to her liking and while the service was not very consistent the only thing that was consistent was the fact that every time the runner came with our drinks he practically slammed them on the table... I was a little unsure at first so I asked my girlfriend if she had felt the same or was this just my imagination and her reply was "ah yeah" its not just you he is slamming our drinks down. So what does this all mean? Well... see for yourself. I would hate to down the place because of today but in this economy with so many different places that can have $30.00 of your hard earned money.... Why settle for bad service? That's just how I see it... Good luck and stay hungry.

Great place to go for happy hour, two big blue moon beers when went great with my fajitas. Chips and salsa are yummy, so good. I could eat here all the time. Like sitting in the bar side better than the dining room.

Great drink specials. Gotta love coming during happy hour! I had the house margaritas and they were awesome! The portions are huge here, well at least what I ordered was huge. I plan on coming back to try other dishes to see why others think the food is inconsistent.

I had the Macho Burrito. It was so awesome. So much of it. Tasted delicious. Love the place and will return soon for something else to try.

Best local fajitas. I got the sampler with carne asada, chicken and shrimp. Nicely spiced with ample pico, guac and sour cream. Corn tortillas were a little small, and the Mexican rice was a tad under-seasoned. Drinks were great, but it was just a bit too noisy. Open ceiling combined with very open dining area, and you could hear everyone's conversations.

You know a real Mexican restaurant is authentic, when they give u unlimited chips and salsa. I'm a big critic on mexican food, being from cali. This isn't the best mexican resto, but it is very decent. they give you big proportions, so you definitely get what you pay for. I like that they are open until midnight. The service was good especially since we were there late night with a party of 10. The server gave his opinion on what is good and he was courteous. The place was being cleaned by the time we got there, which i don't like because it's not closing time and there are customers. They should clean when it is actually closed. BUT, the fact that they do clean, means they keep the place tidy. The chimichanga was delicious and chalupa was good. They have jarritos - one of my favorite mexican drinks. I'd give this place another shot just to try the dessert - when i saw fried ice cream, i definitely wanted to come back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
