This Steak N Shake is right by our house so conscience is the main reason we go here. Reminds me of a 50's style diner. Clean, bright, friendly staff, and service is fast and good. The food is good, it's greasy; which is really my only complaint about it. All the food is made fresh to order so no heat lamp burgers. My favorite is the vanilla coke, extra vanilla!'n. YUM! They serve shoe-strong fries which are sooooo good. We always get cheese sauce on the side. Again YUM! The specialty shakes of the month are super good and the regular flavors of vanilla, strawberry and chocolate are good too. The breakfast they serve are surprisingly tasty. I alway question burger/lunch/dinner places who decide to add breakfast to their menus. However, they have done a good job, still too greasy but for a once in a while treat it's worth it. Give it a try if you want something a bit different with a fun atmosphere!

How unfortunate that I can't give this place zero stars! I was so excited to go to Steak N Shake since I live out of state now and there are none in my new city, but this was beyond disappointing. My mom and I went through the drive through at this Steak n Shake just now and they apparently have either a new employee working that area or someone with no customer service skills or experience. We ordered two milkshakes and a burger without the bun. One of the milkshakes was mint chocolate chip and the other was vanilla. As we pulled up to the window to pay, we watched the girl spill my mint chocolate chip shake. Then in order to cover this up, she evidently added about half a bag of chocolate chips to the bottom of a new cup and poured the remainder of the spilled shake over it so it took up enough space in the cup to pass when whipped cream was added. Newsflash: when you add big unblended chocolate chips to a beverage that is to be consumed using a straw, you might have some issues. It was very obvious what happened as I couldn't even get my straw to the bottom and I could not get any sips of milkshake through the straw. If you make a mistake, just apologize and fix it. It happens. You really mess up when you try to cover it up. This happened after we got charged for two meals we didn't order as well. This location is a mess. You'd be better off going to a location with different ownership.

For various reasons, I was here twice tonight! After a 6 hour drive home, I stopped for a few burgers. Waited for about 3-4 minutes to order at drive thru. Waited another 10 minutes for my incorrect order. Second trip: (why not? This one is super easy) Frisco melt - no bread. Three people had to question the no bread. This is not rocket science! Mint chocolate chip shake. Shake had a pile of chocolate chips on the bottom, some shake, and then another handful of chips.... And they charged me fifty cents more! Bad service twice from 2 different people!

Our group of four arrived on Sunday February 15th at about 2:45am. At first everything was fine; we were seated immediately, had our drink orders taken immediately, and then the server returned to take our food orders. But after that, the service spiraled downhill. We ordered one pancake sandwich, no egg no cheese; the sandwich had cheese even though we requested without because one of our members is lactose intolerant. We ordered one country skillet with sub bacon, and we still got a skillet with sausage and with unappetizing .scrambled eggs. We ordered two California skillets, one chicken one sausage. Although the chicken skillet looked fine the sausage skillet had no cheese (even though there was no request for no cheese) and looked nothing like the other California skillet. I had to come up to the bar and ask for a side of bacon, fries (we ordered fries but didn't get it with our order) and hot sauce (I needed it and the server said he would get it, but he didn't and I found out that they actually ran out of hot sauce [so then why didn't our server tell us?]). The cook was more helpful than the server. Around the restaurant there were dirty dishes still laying around, and a tub full of dirty cups on one of the tables. It was there since we got there which was about half an hour until we received food. We continued to wait for the fries which never came, and that's when we approached the manager to finally say something about our lack of customer service. The closing manager, Stephanie, was incredibly rude to us. She was very stuck up, rolled her eyes a lot, pulled an attitude because of all of the complaints we had, and had the audacity to argue about it! We got free food out of the argument but it doesn't change the fact that the quality of food was poor and so was the service from both employee and manager. We love Steak n Shake and often go for late night meals or breakfast, but this particular location turned us off!

The only reason I'm giving this location a 3 star rating is due to the consistency of the food. No complaints there. But the service? That's definitely at a 2 star level. Each time I've been here the service was awful, whether the restaurant was packed or empty. By awful, I mean that multiple times we have been given the wrong food or have been left for long periods of time with no sign of our server. On our last visit, we got our food long before the waitress ever brought out our drinks (Our first drinks, not refills). As a mom to little guys, this is frustrating on a whole new level. The waitress ended up comping us an applesauce, but that was only because the kitchen brought out fries with our son's meal rather than the applesauce we requested; not because she left us that long without drinks. This Steak 'n Shake is a hot mess, in my humble opinion.

Everytime I go here the fries are so cold. My last straw was the milk shake I got today did not look anything like a proper milkshake. Drank it anyways now my stomach is torn up! I'm done with steak and shake

I have eaten here before with my children, and even though the waitress are pleasant, the service is slow the food is good. However,I am disappointed and concern to see drastic decline in cleanness. I have left the place because of it.

I was surprised. Our lunch was delicious and the waitress was nice. My cheeseburger was very yummy. Haven't tried a shake yet but there's always next time!

I used to love Steak and Shake for the old timey- diner atmosphere and their good food. this particular restaurant is not worth visiting at all. I recently went with my girlfriend for a quick bite and a shake after. Walking in we noticed that there were four tables with customers at them, three clean tables, and the rest were covered in garbage. the servers were all young women, grouped behind the cash register laughing. We finally were seated and we ordered our food. It was disgusting, just burnt buttery mess. My girlfriend ordered a salad of some sort which was revolting to say the least. We decided to just get our shakes. however, nobody came to ask us if we needed anything and by the time they did we asked for the check and promptly went across the street for Dairy Queen. I would recommend DQ over anything you could buy from this restaurant. If they would discipline their staff, or maybe hire people with more experience or work ethnic, this place could be better. right now I don't even want to think about their greasy food or watery milkshakes

Nice restaurant that makes a good burger for a really nice price! Parking was kinda a pain and it took a little bit for the waitstaff to clean off a table for us. Most of the staff seemed flustered and running around chasing their tails. Food was quick and right the first time with no issues at all. Our waitress even pulled a first for me in all my many visits by bringing us a full ketchup bottle to the table! I know my heart skipped a beat as well! A nice quick place to grab some grub that won't hurt your pocketbook.

Burgers OK, but they traditionally advertise deceptively. They Say meals under $4, but it doesn't include a drink. Usually when you get a meal at a burger joint it includes a drink. Just Saying

Typical drive through, all American fare. Don't go expecting gourmet burgers, don't go expecting really fast service. Do go if you want a step up over McD's or BK, because it is certainly that. The "Steakburgers" are fresh made, and they do customize your order if you're like me and incredibly picky.

I was heading home from the beach, in a convertible with the top down and with humidity the heat factor was about 105! Then I saw that beautiful Steak and Shake sign, but I had passed the restaurant. As doon as I could turn around I went straight back, it was happy hour and the drive thru was backed up. I finally got to place my order and waited impatiently in line for my milkshake. I was soool hot and really wanted my shake, well thst was my excuse today. The truth is my entire family are ice cream fanatics, and we can find any excuse to have this delightfully delicious dairy product. Ah, it was my turn to pay and get my shake...I think I heard the Angels sing. I gladly paid, received my cold cup of expectations and anticipation. Steak and Shake did not disappoint! I slowed down and enjoyed the rest of my drive home, content, without a care in the World. What's a girl to do? Have her ice cream and eat it too.

I come for the cheap meal, I've only ever had one good server. It takes about 30 minutes to get your food. They are very understaffed. I see the staff as I'm eating and they are literally sitting around or taking NAPS instead of cleaning and making their business better.

I have tried different meals here, and they are all above standard, as is the service! Always pleasant waitresses and hostesses.

I just had the most horrible experience at steak n shake. I went in to get food for my family and was completely ignored for 15 minutes while two employees sat feet away. I only ordered one meal because I was disgusted by my treatment. I work in customer service and would never treat another human being the way I was treated today.

I really likes me some Steak 'n Shake, honestly, and it's the only reason I won't rate this location based on our experience Saturday night. Our waitress was absent the entire time and never brought my chica's food out. So I literally sat and ate alone while other waitresses walked right by our table and her chili mac that sat up on the window the entire time I ate. The entire staff looked miserable. But, other than that, the food was hot, fresh and tasty. The manager took the chili mac off the bill because our waitress sucked and she seemed genuinely apologetic. So regardless, I'd return. No business is perfect, and my SNS experiences have always been good.

It's sad. I first visited a Steak & Shake when visiting Grapevine in Texas and LOVED IT. Great service, great food and you guessed it...the best shakes. However, the service at this location was the worst I have ever experienced at a Steak & Shake. My partner asked for a little more chili on his pasta because it literally was just a bowl of pasta with enough sauce to give it color. Seriously, when he stirred it there was no sauce in the bowl. It just made a sticky nasty kinda sound. When the waitress asked the cook for more chili he took a spoon and dug around for a pebble of meat and put it in a bowl she asked him to put it in. When she asked him to be serious he argued the plate had chili on it. He finally gave in and gave her a small spoonful and told her to charge us for a side of chili. When we went to check out they overcharged us but not on the chili, something else. When I asked the manager to correct she rolled her eyes like a child. That's OK. I don't have time for immature games and don't plan on going back.

Steak and Shake is always reliable for us. It's your basic diner fare--burgers, shakes and the like. they always have new menu items and innovative twists on old favorites. For example, I recently had a fried egg burger here. Great chili as well--try it deluxe with cheese and raw onion, mmm. Service is really good at this location, especially at night. The server is the cashier, shake maker and buser, so do appreciate and be patient. sometimes it gets backed up! For two people we usually spend $20 for 2 meals with fries, chili, drinks and the tip. It's not gourmet but it isn't bad either. Sometimes you just want a grease burger.

I've been eating and steak and shake restaurants for a number of years. actually more up north. i have eaten in several of the locations in pinellas county, both Oldsmar and the Countryside. Most of the time at Oldsmar. The food is always good, service good. Most likely the reason I go back is the milkshake. They are the best you can buy. Almost always I just have a vanilla malt, but tonite i had one of the new flavor shakes (peanut butter cup chips) and it was very good, but next time it will be back to the vanilla malt.

the worst possible place to eat in Oldsmar. It is so dirty and the food is disgusting. I wasn't expecting a gourmet burger but at least something I could eat. Yuck!

I give this particular location less than 5 stars for two reasons... I ordered a cherry limeade, and got the drink with sticky cherry syrup all over the side of the glass, and our table had no ketchup and the one we "borrowed" from another table was pretty much empty. Otherwise, it IS Steak N Shake, so the food was good and very reasonably priced. Love me a steakburger!!
