Pros: Excellent food, good service, cool atmosphere, live music and guess what? They cleaned the place up. Cons: Parking is a little cramped and the bathrooms are pure Keys style. We ate there about 2 weeks ago and was very pleasantly surprised at how the owners have upgraded the facility -- refurbished tables and chairs, fresh paint, etc. A little elbow grease certainly goes a long way. And I don't care who you are, you cannot eat fish every day.

Don't go. We ordered drinks, but the drinks came with no ice and straw. We asked the waitress for help, she just did nothing but wait. Never come back. Horrible! Horrible!Horrible!

Short review: kinda cool but wouldn't go back. Visited Porky's for late night dinner. Ordered cheese sticks, fried pickles, and fried fish fingers as appetizers. Cheese sticks were decent. Fried pickles pretty good but a little greasy. Fish fingers were prepared from catch of the day, which was triggerfish. Delicious! Sounds cliche, but almost tasted like chicken but with a fish texture. Boyfriend and I shared the "dinner for 2." Huge! Could have easily shared with 4. Spare ribs, brisket, and 1/2 a smoked chicken. Meat was smoky. Bbq sauce slightly spicy. Yummy. The sides were standard. They had lots of side options but we chose fried corn on the cob, cheese grits, mac n cheese, and rice. The rice was yummy and my boyfriend fell in love with the corn on the cob. Mac n cheese pretty standard. Cheese grits were plain grits with cheese meted on top. Pretty bland. 2 different guys served us. One of them was very friendly and informative, the other treated us like a chore. Food came out quickly but paying the check took longer than expected. Atmosphere was cool, right on the water. Neat experience but probably wouldn't go back.

Do not order dessert! The creme brûlée was horrible! They served it straight from the fridge and its consistency was not that of a custard and the sugar topping was soggy. Stick to BBQ!

No complaints! We had pulled pork sandwiches and they were both hot, juicy, and served on a toasted bun with lettuce and onion on the side. They also have a choice of homemade bbq sauces. My favorite was the garlic mustard sauce while my husbands was the smokey molasses sauce. The restaurant is on the water with a marina so it had pretty views while you sit outside at picnic tables.

We had driven past Porky's a few times and noticed it was always very busy. We saw the reviews on yelp and decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed! We ordered the BBQ meal for two but it would have seriously fed three people. The fried corn was delicious! Everything was tasty. The ribs were tender and the brisket was so tender! We also tried the fried key lime pie..delicious! One slice is enough for two people to share. Everyone is so friendly and we were served in a timely manner. The place itself is very interesting. Your eating alongside boats and Pelicans. There was also a guy with a guitar singing at the back of the restaurant. I think this would be a great first date kinda place! Maybe not the ribs?

Great food, great HH specials, great service, live music, on the water... you have to try it!

I visited this place a couple of weeks ago on our way back from Key West. The food was great, no one in my party had any complaints, quite the contrary. The only drawbacks was our waitress was kind of slow coming around and after a while she disappeared. In the end, the other waiter brought us refills and our check, way faster than the waitress, even though he limped! I also did not appreciate that I paid double the ampunt of money for a smaller portion of conch fritters than I did in Key West. They were still good, though! I would definitely come back for the food.

First visit here today for lunch. I am from NC so I could be considered a BBQ snob. When I saw the menu included "North Carolina BBQ" I was excited. After receiving the food, I was disappointed. The NC barbecue was basically big, fatty chunks of pork. I have never been to a BBQ restaurant in NC that served the pork this way unless it was specifically designated as so on the menu. NC BBQ is served either chopped or pulled. The meat was slightly dry with little flavor. The only reason it gets 2 stars is because the fries, although frozen, were good and the bbq sauce was good. I didn't have any problems with the service as some have mentioned. I wouldn't go back here. Not the worst BBQ ever, but I have certainly had much better.

After eating here, I'm actually surprised that this place sits at 3 stars and not higher. We stopped here for lunch one day, looking for something light to eat since it was so hot outside. REALLY cool little place. Open air, all shaded, lots of fans to keep things cool. Big TV in the corner, not that it's needed. GREAT little water view. All in all, a really relaxing, chill place. Also was an artist drawing in the corner with some of his work for sale. Ordered a daqueri that was good, and my friend got a menu special drink that I don't remember the name of but it was vodka, lemonade and sprite - reallyreally good! I ordered a veggie salad with pulled pork BBQ on top. My friend ordered a chicken salad. Both were extremely well prepared and fresh. My pulled pork BBQ was very tender and the sauce (smoky molasses i think) was very tasty. Chicken on the salad was also very tender and well cooked. Only complaint was that there are fried fish tacos on the menu, but they were unable to honor my friend's request to do grilled fish tacos. Fast, friendly service (the two women were great, the guy that started our service seemed less than pleased to be there and didn't know the menu or drinks well, so not sure if he was new or just subbing in). I would have definitely gone back a second time if we had been in town longer.

Stopped for lunch. Enjoy sloppy joes and French fries. BFF had bbq pork sandwich. It's not local made now but satisfied us before hitting the water. Waitress Debbie was great!!

The atmosphere was really laid back. The food was perfect for a lazy summer evening. Fish and ribs were killer meals.

Deep fried key lime pie with a view! Doesn't get any better than that. And breakfast was good as well. Great outdoor, casual restaurant on a small marina. I'll be back for sure.

Don't go. Snapper catch of the day is dry. And the guy server is rude and won't perform normal duties of a waiter. Ask him to split a check and he makes you feel you are asking for the world and won't do it. The female waitress from Eastern Europe is great. He's a piece of work.

Nice view and good music! Everything else was just ok, clam chowder was watery, ribs cold, conch fritters burnt and cold, and slow service.

We had breakfast there it was absolutely wonderful enjoyable experience. Not just the staff but the customers everybody was friendly and outgoing and relaxed mood. We had the smoke breakfast it was superb. Would highly recommend it and plan to go back again ourselves.

The service is slow. The food was tasteless including the butter though my guy liked the baked beans and I liked the BBQ sauce on my ribs. Lots of people coming and going. We enjoyed the live music. I would prefer to eat at Applebees over this place. The prices are comparable, but their food and service is better. The outside patio was nice. We would recommend going somewhere else. We hear there's a Subway close by. I had to ask for a refill on my guy's drink. He thinks it was because we weren't drinking alcohol. The place wasn't that big. They seemed to have enough staff just not very organized. Their hostess didn't know what to do as far as seating us. We paid way too much.

Porky's is a good place to stop when driving down the Keys and you are hungry. Decent food at decent prices. The last two times though service has been slow. Their pork dishes are the best (as you would guess with the name Porky's) in our opinion.

  • Cork F.

I've been coming to Porky's on and off for many years. This is one of the true gems of the Florida Keys. There's plenty of on the water eating and drinking spots, but Porky's has absolute substance. The food is diverse and above par. These guys know what real BBQ is, and that's rare down here. They also do great fresh fish, raw fish and kick ass chowders. The owner truly is a Renaissance man when it comes to the menu, and the vibe is tops. Bring your dog, he's more than welcome and that's also rare around these parts. The wait staff really cares and it shows. Porky's exemplifies what a restaurant/tiki bar should be in every way. If you're hitting the lower Keys, stop for a cold beer, a meal or both. You'll be really glad you did.

Food is good...service is extremely slow so be prepared to be on island time!

Horrible tourist trap!!! It reminds me of kids making mud pies. It might be shaped like a pie but it's still mud. This is mud bbq. It's best feature is the location. It's sandwiched between the highway and a dirty little marina. We ordered a daiquiri and a margarita they were both horrible. We had them remade and they were still gross. The bartender then told us they don't have a liquor license so they make cocktails with a wine flavored like tequila. No wonder the drinks suck. Any descent restaurant would tell you they don't have liquor when you order a liquor drink. Or why not just sell wine and beer. We also ordered the brisket and pulled pork. Brisket was bland but ok with heavy sauce. Pork was dry and loaded with red pepper flakes (why?). Altogether a terrible restaurant.

Loved this place! Dog friendly great food and nice location. This is what your looking for in The Keys. Go and eat a nice meal and relax. Only beer and wine. BBQ is excellent!

We stopped here for breakfast and will not be coming back. The food was overpriced and not such huge portions as stated by the waitress. For our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids under 10) our breakfast cost us over $40! My daughter's orange juice was $5 and that was supposed to be their large size (about 10 oz only)! For $5 I could go out and buy a whole container of OJ from the grocery store! And we've ordered a large OJ from other restaurants that were much much larger. Their food wasn't spectacular either for the prices they were charging. My husband and I both got the key lime french toast and it was alright. Nothing special. Coffee was subpar and we were shooing away flies constantly. Service wasn't that great either. My husband even heard one of the waitresses cursing! I mean, really? We have kids around! Out of all the places we've tried while in the Keys, this place was the most disappointing. We're choosing to spend our money elsewhere next time.

Do you like to throw up? If you do, then Porkys is the place for you! I ate at Porkys and guess what?, I threw up!! Got food poisoning and threw up all night. :( Tip: don't eat there unless you want food poisoning. Blah.

We brought in some Mahi we caught earlier that day for them to cook and was extremely good. Their pulled pork is good too along with the ribs. And I highly recommend their "lunchbox" sandwiches to take out fishing or for a day trip. Haven't had that tasty of a sub in a while. Service was good too. Will be coming back next time down to the keys

The name says it all. Great pork. I had the mojo Cuban pork sandwich and it was so good! My family and I were close to the live music which was also great. We had a very enjoyable evening listening to live music and drinking beers.

  • Tracy T.

Service is almost non existent and luckily our waitress handed us over to the bartender who was much better than the crabby waitress who sat us and forgot us after our drink order. All 4 of us got different entrees and everyone agreed the food was just ok and 3 of us felt the meal was lacking in meat/fish. View isn't so great for being on water either. I would not recommend or return.

  • Blake M.

Great service and great atmosphere, just a tad bit overpriced for the quality of food. Big portions!!! Save room in your tiny resort fridge. Beef brisket was tender and juicy, but did have some gristle. Great local brews on tap. Friendly and up-beat wait staff and respectful patrons. My favorite part was that you can sit right on the water and watch the fishes!

Had the pulled pork here, was very delicious and the beers at happy hour is a price that cannot be beat service was spot on. This was our second visit we will go back again enjoyed it..

Made a pit stop here on the long drive back to Fort Lauderdale from Key West to grab some lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Decent enough hog and raw oysters. The pitchers are pretty cheap too. But no corn bread or collared greens!? COME ON, MAN!

  • David B.

I have eaten here a few times. I wouldn't really call it a bbq place. It's outdoor seating which when it's hot out is not comfortable . I had buffalo Calamari which was great. Then I got the rib dinner . It was a huge portion. The food is good not great. It's kinda over priced. My server was good but the host was a little off. I asked him to sit in a particular servers section because I knew her. He basicly told me no. Lol I thought it was odd.

I would actually highly recommend the place. i loved the atmosphere and the food was very good, I had the crab cake and split the key lime pie and deep-fried key lime pie. The live music was fun and the staff was very nice!

Dined in this unbearably HOT (like install more fans??) restaurant today for lunch; big mistake. Temp inside had to be 85 degrees. 2 Servers...menus are so long & complicated it's a turn-off, yet BOTH Servers were pressuring us to order. Neither Server checked on us during our meal (?) Chef couldn't make shrimp scampi (??) So I had dried over-blackened shrimp (4...& that's an entree)..over dry yellow rice. My friend had the coconut shrimp...very small portions for big bucks. No salad...asking for dinner rolls was a mistake b/c they were stale. Bathrooms are disgusting. One positive: they are dog friendly. Ambiance is an ecclectic "something" overlooking fishing charters/fishing boats. Heads up!!

Open patio dive restaurant. They do Their best to keep it cool but after awhile it got of warm. The ribs were delicious and the service was really good. The waitress kept filling up pitchers for soda so we were never left without something in our cups. This restaurant is also permitted to allow dogs sit with their owners which is great to see since we saw someone leave their dog in a truck with the windows barely down barking.

My family and I are staying at a resort in Marathon and decided to check out this local restaurant for dinner. When we sat down we were greeted by one of the servers. He started by going into full detail of their drink menu. My mom kindly told him that we won't be having any drinks, just food. He replied, "Not even water?" in a real smart ass way. He disappeared and after 10 minutes of sitting there, a female server appeared to take our order. We ordered appetizers and our entrees. After twenty minutes, we got ONE of our appetizers. The snippy male server brought our food fifteen minutes after that and brought the other appetizer with it. The appetizer (the blackened fish nachos) were cold and the cheese was hard, probably from sitting in the kitchen waiting to be brought out as an appetizer. My brothers pulled pork was unseasoned and all fat with soggy bread. My parents both got the all you can eat ribs. The menu said "best ribs ever would fall off the bone and tender" but they were the opposite. They were rubbery, fatty and not tender at all. My parents and brother took one bite of their meals and didn't even bother finishing them. It was disgusting. I got the caesar salad with sesame seared tuna which was over priced for the amount of salad and tuna provided. The salad wasn't so bad but they put a huge chunk of wasabi on the side (that I had to remove) which left a bad taste on the lettuce. Both servers didn't even come to see if we needed anything or to ask how our food was. To top off the repulsive service and food, the place was over-run with obnoxious drunk locals. The table behind us were chain smoking and cackling like hyenas. If you are on vacation and looking for a pleasant delicious dinner, I DO NOT recommend this place. There are plenty better places that are worth your time and money.

Stopped by with friends on our way to Key West. The best decision! Great food, extremely amazing atmosphere! Wish to eat there more often. Absolutely must eat: fish of the day! I truly can say it was the best fish I ever had! Ceasar salad also was great. Size of sandwiches? Huuuge! Fresh bread, and delicious ham! Our appetizer Fried calamari, heaven in mouth! We tought they catched them right before serving!

DISGUSTING!!!! Service sucked, food was soooo bad we could not eat the meat.... Awful awful awful. Cold fries. Coleslaw tasted like cabbage mixed with red vinegar and it was dry... The fish dip was DRY ( weird, huh?) the meat tasted like it is frozen not fresh... And it tasted old ... The onion rings and French onion soup were the only things edible... The soup probably because it is from a can... But it saves it... Probably would not want the cook to attempt to make it... Other people were complaining about the food around us as well..., left there still hungry... Sad sad sad... I advised them to taste their food... Hopefully they do this local will never be back!!!! They need a new cook and new staff....

Fraud. Porky's Bayside Barbecue, despite the sign, despite the cartoon pig, is not a barbecue joint. It is great fun, they do have some betfter-than-you'd reasonably expect food, and a staff that seems to operate at super speed. But it's not a barbecue joint; a joint yes, barbecue no. They do have a very good pulled pork sandwich (more in a few lines) and smoked chicken , baby back and spare ribs... but then they also have oysters, fish dip, sashimi tuna hot dogs, Po' Boys, burgers (get ready for this) plus lox and bagels. It's likely against the law in some states to even mention lox and bagels in a barbecue joint - much less sell them under the same roof. And they're known for their fried Key Lime pie - which they were mercifully out of when we vsited. Why the three stars? Because the pulled pork sandwich, stacked high with full flavor, smoke infused pork was really good. Three sauces (smokey molasses, Johnny's Hot Stuff, and garlic mustard), all OK, none exception and homemade onion rings topped off a worth it late night visit. The place itself reminded the Brown Shoe Gourmet of an equally appealing dive near Biloxi with everything either stapled or nailed to the ceiling or walls: hats, dollar biklls, license plates, nets, buoys, And for your dining comfort, picnic tables or the finest 1960 plastic furniture still on the market. A word of caution: take one step too many coming out of the men's room and you end up in the water. The beer was cold, the onion soup one of the group ordered was, he said, excellent, while theBBQ shrimp salad also won high marks. So for a guy whose spent a lifetime in pursuit of the perfect barrbecue, Porky's is problematic. It's neither fish nor foowl, or in this case, ribs nor sushi - but a too many page menu of both. Looking for some good food in a fun environment with a maitre de (they don't have them in real barbecue joints) half the size of a small mountain (and a sense of humor to match), then this is the place for you especially if you're anywhere close to Marathon, Florida on the way to Key West. If you're someone in pursuit of the perfect barbecuee, Porky's is worth a brief stop, but not the final stop in your search.

Very keyish! Open early closes late for the keys 10pm. Enjoyed my meal of BLT Salad! Ribs where good also. If I have time will make another visit and try something else. One of the last places before 7 mile bridge.

This was recommended by my girlfriends father. I had ordered the smokedhouse half chicken with mashed potatoes gravy and yellow rice. The chicken was very dry, the "bbq sauce" tasted like it was from the supermarket, the mashed potatoes were okay, but the gravy was extremely salty and also tasted like it was from a can. The half of a chicken was over cooked, dry and very bland. I found the rice to be almost like an asain sticky type of rice which was also very bland. The best thing that I had ordered was the beer. There is no way possible to screw up a beer. The service in the place was unoriginal, there were two foreign females working and they didnt know which tables were which. I was very dissatisfied with the place in general. The Meals were extremely over priced and not worth even potentially half of the overall cost of what this place is paying for. I gave it a one star because the entertainment was pretty good. I will never return here ever again.

Stopped here on our way to Key West. Good place to stop if you need a break from the drive. It's on the left right before you head out of Marathon, keep an eye out or you will miss it. It's an open air place with great service. The pork belly sliders were so good! They know how to bring the heat with the pulled pork if you order it with some spice. The fried oysters were great too. I wasn't a huge fan of the conch fritters, that's the only thing holding me back from giving it 5 stars.

Typical chill Keys hangout. It's got a view of the Gulf and regulars. I got the Mahi, it was ok. The chickie got spareribs and they were better than I thought they'd be.

We had dinner here one evening with friends and it proved to be pretty tasty. The spare ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender - high marks. I have to knock this restaurant because we went back for breakfast a couple of days later and it was AWFUL. Do not eat breakfast in this establishment - its expensive and not fit for human consumption. Soooooo bad. Go for the BBQ and drinks in the evening, AVOID breakfast here!

  • Leslie T.

I wanted to rate this place better, but my stomach was upset for a day after I ate lunch here. I ordered the Cuban-style pulled pork basket and chose the seaweed salad as my side. The salad smelled a bit fishy - which it should not - I have had seaweed salad in Japanese restaurants. The pork was a bit dry, too. My husband had the fall-off-the-bone ribs with baked beans as a side and enjoyed his lunch. The service was friendly, the view over the marina was nice, and the beers were cold.

Porky's came recommended by our hotel concierge (shame on you) so we decided to give it a try. We expected much better due to the Yelp reviews and our concierge's recommendations especially considering the price. Overall assessment: C Glorified "bad" pub food in my opinion. The meals were very bland and my lobster bisque was the worst I've ever had. The deep fried key lime pie came highly recommended but guess what? They didn't have any. This is a pet peeve of mine (see my review on Ma's Fish Camp). If you're a restaurant known for a signature dish or dessert; how on earth can you not have it available? One of the reasons we decided to go to Porky's was to have the deep fried key lime pie and we walked away with none of it. There's just no excuse for it.

This is just the kind of run-down roadside BBQ shack that's PERFECT for summer sitting. Service seemed kind of hit-or-miss (as in the person that sat us forgot to get a waiter for us for 10 minutes). But the live music was great, beer prices great, food great. Couldn't ask for more than watching the sunset and having some good eats.

We had the breakfast burrito during a quick stop before going jet ski. It was ok. Not the greatest thing but not the worst either. The service was great though.

I ate here this week and would give the joint negative stars if possible. There was a stench of backed up sewage coming in strong waves. We had the worst server, some creepy ass cracker who acted like he was doing us a big favor to interrupt whatever he was smoking from a little glass pipe out by the dock. They serve greasy under cooked pork that gave us copious vomiting and diarrhea for two days.

So this was not the place I was headed for Breakfast but.... the car new better and this is where it took me. How do you beat breakfast on the water, in an eclectic loved environment. I am a meat with Breakfast kind of guy and i knew a BBQ place wold have the choices and they did. I ended up with the Brisket and Eggs with Potatoes. I get my eggs poached medium (which is not easy) they were perfect. I asked for my potatoes well done, perfect, not a burnt side on them and all crispy to perfection. Now the Brisket, Fell A Part on the plate, and to top it off the coffee was good. I have book marked this place and i will go again the next time I am in Marathone, definetly a must try

I love this place. So comfortable and casual with great food. Food is well priced, drinks are cheap and live music is great! Since they opened for breakfast recently I have been stopping by on my way to work and I just love the attentive service!

Horrible. See my comments and "tip" about this place. Service very slow throughout and the food was either cold or very bland. I have no idea how this place is averaging a 3.5 by everyone. It is a shack that's outdoors so don't go at night during winter months if you get cold easy. No indoor seating and no heaters to make the outside more comfortable. The servers were disorganized and not attentive to anything. We didn't get any alcohol - i wondered if our service was worse because that would mean a smaller tip... Nothing positive to say about this - I'd give it zero stars if that was an option.

Great laid back atmosphere with lots of interesting things plastered on the ceiling. Service a bit slow but it went with the atmosphere. Mussels were great, conch fritters were OK and the beer was cold.

Beside a small dock, this place is clearly not here to make an impression, or declare itself truly authentic. It is a simple place, cozy and clean. The service is relaxed, but diligent. Their famous deep fried key lime pie is an AMAZING dessert. The memorable mentions are the crab cakes, fish fingers, gusto fried calamari, and of course their delicious oysters. It is a great place, the best on the way down without a doubt. However we did not order any ribs, or burgers, beef and such. So we cant speak for those dishes.

Porky's is a good solid choice for dinner. Informal in your typical Keys dive sort of way, the place has a lot of character and seems popular with the locals. There's live music at night and is definitely good for people watching. I came for the barbecue, all-you-can-eat ribs night in particular, and while I can say I got my money's worth I can't say it was awesome barbecue. Generally you should smell smoke when you are in the parking lot of a barbecue joint and there was none that I could tell. The waitress pointed out they had a smoker, but the ribs were gray without the telltale pink "smoke ring" of 'cue that's been smoked low and slow over wood. The barbecue sauce was good, if I had to guess with hints of orange and a little bit of peppery spice, but it was slathered on just before serving with no indications of being applied while on the heat, either in the smoker or on a grill. It came with two sides and I got potato salad and baked beans, both of which were huge portions. The potato salad was heavy on celery, but the beans were smokey and had bits of meat in them. Normally I could down a rack of ribs and the sides but this night I could only get through one and a half orders of the "all-you-can-eat" ribs and barely ate a quarter of my sides before I was stuffed. So despite my picky barbecue critiques, I was well fed and like I said it was good, just not awesome. My wife had the fried oysters which were also a good portion at a good value, but like the barbecue was just "good" in comparison to other oysters she had that week, but like me she was still satisfied. While I may sound a little tough on Porky's, it is only because I go to plenty of barbecue joints and if you're going to promote yourself as a such you need to do a better job smoking your meats (i.e. pink smoke ring, cooked on rub and/or sauce. Nitpicking aside, everything was good, the service was attentive and the atmosphere fun and relaxing.

We went to Porky's multiple times last year and the food was good and so was the service. BIG CHANGE. We have been there twice this vacation and will never go back again. My husband had fried oysters the first time we went this year, he said they were the worse he had ever eaten. I had the coconut shrimp they were great. At my prompting we returned tonight 2/25/15. My husband had ribs , the BBQ sauce was good, but it covered up the overlooked dried ribs that he couldn't eat. At no time did anyone come to ask if the meal was OK, his fault he should have complained. I again had the shrimp, they were fine. They had someone singing and playing the guitar. He was the worse entertainer I have EVER heard, he had to be blackmailing the place so he could play there. The service was atrocious to say the least, we were given the menus 10 - 15 min. later the waitress showed up. No hi or welcome just have you decided what you want. Someone else brought the food, she never came to check to see if everything was good or if we needed anything else, worse excuse for someone who is working for tips . Go to Castaways, Lazy Days, Steak & Lobster (used to be Annette's) , Franks, Burger King or McDonalds. This place is now the PITTS.. If I could give it less then one star I would, I hope the waitress liked the $2.00 tip and that was over tipping, I' sorry I left anything , she deserved nothing....

I was just chilling with some cool guys across the street from this place at the trailer park and we decided to wander over for a afternoon of indulgence-beer and food. I know they like their food bland in most parts of florida. Lets say they don't really appreciate the need for a different palate outside of their comfort zone. Food is priced cheap but to fill up my belly after a long day of drinking it will do for sure..... Beer was cheap and they don't mind if you take off your shoes and float home. So I tipped my hat to the man that made my belly full that day. I was about to pass out when I walked in. Drinking in the sun with the cool guys from across the street is hard work I tell ya. Good thing my buddy Stone Harbor M. was there to take me back to our place. He behaved himself but was not a big fan of the food as I was. He kept smothering his ribs in hot sauce and picking apart his chicken like a girl. I just told him to get the hotdogs and mash potatoes like I did but ya know some people just don't listen. One of the better hot dog places around, way better then the ones at gas station with out a doubt.

My husband wants to be able to tell people that their BBQ is not as good as they claim. However, he was very impressed that this place lived up to the hype. Although he prefers wet BBQ this place has a great dry BBQ that is seasoned well and a great variety of sauces. The potato salad was great! I gave it 4 stars because the crab cake and remuolaude sauce was a bit bland. Try the BBQ!

OK this was the first stop on our trip to the Florida Keys. first start with the positive: The atmosphere is really cool its an old dock and marina with a cool atmosphere! after that it's all down hill: we ordered the beer can chicken it was dry, the crab cakes tasted like dirt, the fish had a rancid taste to it and the shrimp made my son sick. the margaritas were horrible, but the onion soup was good. don't go here to eat but defiantly go to sit at the bar and have a beer, stay away from the mixed drinks.

My husband and I go here every time we're in the Keys. It's a cute little outdoor restaurant located right on the water next to a little marina. The food is really good, too! Can't go wrong with a BBQ pork sandwich or a mahi sandwich. Everything we've had here is good!

  • Michael S.

We went early in the evening and were able to catch some enjoyable music with a great view and atmosphere. I ordered the peel and eat shrimp which was tasty, but I'd recommend going with the barbecue (cuba style) that my girlfriend ordered. Delicious!

If I could give it 3.5 I would. It's definitely good, but not amazing. $2.50 drafts! The scene makes you feel like you're in a backcountry Louisiana shack, it's definitely nothing to speak of on the inside. However, the food was good. The sweet potato fries are thick-cut and probably could be cooked more. Get the fried key lime pie. It's not amazing but a fun experience.

Wanted to visit here again after 8 years. The place had not changed a bit. Ribs were meaty and tasty. BBQ shrimp salad and trigger fish on salad were really good. Tried the fried key lime pie and don't think it was quite the same as last time. Came out too quickly and did not seem freshly cooked. Check out the 10 percent coupon and happy hour prices. Great deal.

Tried this after reading they had lobster benedict for breakfast. Alas we were not in luck in that regard. This is more of a lunch, afternoon bar, dinner, evening watering hole right on the water with open air seating. The rain never bothered us, but the no-see-ums did - the only major drawback. The service was fast and friendly, the food was basic, decent and done right. Not as good as some of my other reviewed places but a HUGE step above any McD's or similar fastfood garbage. Lots of bizarre things hanging on the wall. Appears they have live music later in the day. Plenty of boats right outside for charter if that's your thing as well. Overall a solid B+ - the bugs made it lose an A rating, so if you DEET up first, or bugs leave you alone, no big deal.

Just catch a fish off the Keys? Porky's will cook it for you. Not to mention they have excellent BBQ and a variety of thirst quenching beers. Located near the 7 mile bridge, this place is a great stop off before you head further down the keys

Atmosphere, atmtosphere, atmosphere Are you in the mood for a ragged ole beer, like a bud light or something? This is not a bad option. Personally I quite enjoyed the ribs, but I have to wonder how a kitchen could send out garlic bread that I'm not into. Key lime pie with an electric chartruese glaze that appeared inedible and tasted fake apple-flavored, no need to blow calories there. Whatever, I'm not there for fine dining. I'm there for a ratty, spring broked afternoon beer accompanied by an acoustic "sailing takes me away" that sounds pretty good because it's afternoon and i'm outside drinking in the florida keys.

we ended up here by accident and were very happy with the food. Way too much, but welcome to America! Fried key lime pie is outstanding. If you're sharing it, go for the crust edge first - I think there is butter in it and it tastes phenomenal. Make a face like it is gross to scare off anyone else at the table. Cuban pork was citrusy - could build up and get cloying if you eat enough, but the mustard sauce cuts it. Onion rings were top notch. Service was great as well, but it was a midday, weekday lunch so it was pretty empty. worth the drive from Key West if you're looking to expand your horizons.

I loved the atmoshere for this barbecue place. North Carolina pulled pork basket was good but disappointed in the portion size. Try the fried corn, very good.

Florida keys ambiance with actual plates! Deep fried key lime pie was awesome- Don't miss it! Conch fritters were good, but didn't "wow" us. Worth the stop.

Great beach bar/eatery. Service was on point even offered to pay for items if we didn't like them. My wife and I had fried green tomatoes as an app (only reason I didn't give em a 5...too done) I had the North Carolina peppered pulled pork sandwich with slaw. Wife had smoked quarter chicken both were awesome. I eat a lot of Key Lime pie and the fried Key Lime pie was great. If your lookin for Florida beach/water casual its here!

Dry meat. Seemed like the food was all reheated in the microwave. Tasted terrible! Big bar crowd which meant a lot of cigarette smoke. The waitstaff was incredinly rude and impatient. Won't do it again.

Eh...food not too good. I had fried grouper and a caesar salad. This was the first place we went to eat when we got down to the keys, and I was dying for grouper - this was not the grouper I was looking for. And the caesar salad had some kind of dressing on it, but it definately didn't taste like caesar dressing. Or anything at all. Maybe I should have gotten BBQ...but still, if you order two seperate things off the menu, shouldn't at least ONE of them be good? Also, the service was pretty crappy, and people can smoke wherever since it is open air. I have nothing against smoking, but really don't like it in my face when I am eating.

Porky's or PUKEY's that is the question. If you have ever had ribs before, go somewhere else. Mine were rubbery and they like they were frozen too long or something.. First time in my life I was actually wishing I was sitting next to Chef Ramsey (love to see him, school the owner/cook aty this place). Before ordering I asked the watress for a suggestion, she told me, " we are know for our ribs." After having dined on them, I certainly wonder how. Coleslaw was something out of my highschool lunch room, roll resembled a dinner role which could be same sort of purchaced from a supermarket, and the beans could have been out of a can. Literally, wisked away my appetite like freakin Peter pan or something... I couldnt even finish my beer....

Maybe I hit this place on a bad day but there was realy nothing good to speak of other than location and location. Nice place to chill and have a drink. Got the quarter chicken and rib combo with fried corn and bbq beans. The chicken and ribs had a gray color and shared the same flavor, kind of a boiled the day before and deep fried today kinda flavor. The sauces were ok and helped me get down about half of the meat. The beans tasted like Van de camps with the addition of yesterdays pork and additional spices. However the stale role dipped in this mixture was the highlight of the meal. Corn sucked as much as the rest.

This review is for a trip that was taken a while back. We were driving back from Key West. We took a family trip from California to the white sands of Florida and had a blast as we marveled at the overseas highway. We stopped by Bahia Honda for some snorkeling and ended at the tip of Key West. It was evening time and everything seemed to be closed. So we started to drive back and spotted Porky's. I had a steak with some fresh grilled vegetables. My wife had the cuban pork and the kids had pork sandwiches. Given our state (extreme hunger), the food was delicious! I think that even if we weren't so travel-beaten, the food would have been equally great. I do recommend this restaurant without reservation. We had an outstanding evening.

Great spot on Marathon in the Keys. We both got the smoked barbecue sandwiches and they were delicious. We added fries on the side. Loved all the different sauces for the barbecue; definitley good that we got fries to try with the sauces. Only reason for the 4 stars is that the bathrooms are outside and not the best but I guess what you'd expect for an outdoor restaurant. We also had to wait quite a while for our check at the end even though the place wasn't that crowded.

Great BBQ, dunno why it gets bad reviews at all. Considering it's literally in the middle of the Keys, this is very decent BBQ. Everything is good though, the fries, appetizers, burgers, fried fish. I always stop on the way to Key West and get that awesome deep fried Key Lime pie. It has a sweet and crunchy tempura batter with a berry drizzle, it's awesome.

Traveling through the Florida Keys, my wife and I were looking for small restaurants away from the tourist traps. We stopped at Porky's because we're both barbecue fans and it looked small and interesting. We were not disappointed. It's a very informal place sitting essentially inside of marina. The interior is decorated with kitsch, including a lot of old license plates. We sat right at the water next to several docked charter boats. The place was mostly empty for a late lunch/early dinner. Service was great. We had a nice lazy lunch while watching the pelicans and herons over the water. We ordered a barbecue sampler of beef and Carolina pepper pork. The beef was good but nothing special. The pepper pork, however, was outstanding and I highly recommend it. There are 3 sauces on the table, seemingly home made. All are good, and the spicy has a good flavor and is not too hot. The cole slaw, though not the best I've had, was quite good.

Great happy hour. $1.25 drafts!?!? Yes please. Always good to stop here and catch up with people. Haven't had any of the food yet, but my buddy really likes there soup, and BBQ. The staff is friendly, I don't understand when people on Yelp complain about a wait in the Keys.... don't you know it's laid back down here, what's your rush you've already made it!? If you want super fast service, go to NYC and enjoy the smog, yuppies, and traffic.

Came here a few years ago on our way back from Key West, looking for some dinner. I have to say it was a good choice. Right on the water, good food, and good entertainment as well. I would like to come back eventually.

I got tipped off to this place by a local. It was all you can eat ribs night (Tuesdays and Wednesdays, I think.) The ribs were awesome! I really have no idea what the negative reviews are about, but I throughly enjoyed myself. So did the other people there from all over the US and Europe. Even got a chance to hang out with the owner and some of his "colorful" friends. Stop by if you are in the area.

I had to add a review because no write-up of Porky's is complete without mentioning that culinary nirvana: deep fried key lime pie. It sounds over the top and possibly impossible but it's actually subtle and delicious. I suspect it gets fried in the same grease as the french fries and this is a surprisingly good thing. The Cuban pork is delicious and the BBQ pork sandwiches are some of the best ever. Like most places in Marathon, if you're looking for anything other than laid back ...keep driving until you hit Key West.

Loved this little place in marathon! It had a down home feel, a ton of snowbird locals hanging around who were as friendly as could be, all you can eat ribs special on Tuesday nights, and hilarious servers. If you want a good cooked BBQ meal you gotta visit porkys!

  • Fred M.

I have been eating here since 2004. A tiki-bar next to boat slips on the west end of Marathon. The place doesn't look like much, but the food is wonderful. I usually make this my last stop on my drive to Key West. The pork sandwiches are great. Many sauces to pick from to put on the sandwich. The beer selection is very good. Save room for dessert because the deep-fryed key lime pie is a must. Have a great meal and enjoy the Seven Mile Bridge, which is next on the great ride to Key West!

Great atmosphere for stopping on the way to Key West. Had a couple of pelicans eyeing my grub from the boat slips about 15 feet away. The smoked fish dip was solid and the black beans, rice, and plantain plate was great. Breeze flowing through the place could keep you here drinking some cold beer for a couple of hours. Good service as well.

Live music was good, beers were cheap. Food was mediocre. My husband had Tuna Caesar salad, said it was good. Mi had barbecue shrimp salad (one of their signature dishes) and it was fair, shrimp was good but the rest of the salad was.....witty.

  • Tom K.

Definitely not a 4-star place, but considering what else is on Marathon, it was the perfect little lazy island restaurant for this little lazy island. Drove by one afternoon on our trip to the keys and saw a lazy black lab laying by the door. That looked like the place for us! Stopped in for lunch and our party of five all ordered different fresh fish sandwiches. Great cabana atmosphere, and obviously dog-friendly. Three days later, after catching a 25 lb snapper no more than two hours earlier, we had Porky's prepare it for us - mine came back as 3 huge steaks. Others ordered it prepared in different styles. It was fantastic. Again, just the perfect little lazy place to visit if you're ever on this little lazy island.

Lord have mercy....the Ribs were horrible. Trust me, they were aweful. Fatty, no taste. Btw, the bathroom isn't fit for the swine used to make the ribs.

We walked to this place from our condo and it was our first night out. Place had a good vibe to it. I liked the fact that it didn't feel like a tourist trap. Food wasn't spectacular, but the drinks were great and the view on the water was great. Our group did dinner there twice before the end of our trip.

My wife and I stopped on our way out of the Keys on a Sunday morning. We were greeted as we arrived though it was 10 minutes before they opened and they were still cleaning up from a night before. The setting was as all have described. My wife had the Carolina BBQ which was awesome. And I've lived my entire life in Va. and NC so I know good BBQ. I had the Yellowtail snapper which was incredible! We had a great lunch to cap off a great stay in Key West.

A single pelican is napping on a piling. A white heron flies from rooftop to rooftop, stopping at each one for a spell, as if to determine whether this is the best spot from which to conduct business. There are a few gulls searching the waters for a meal, while a small armada of brown pelicans float past. The calm water of the small bay laps gently at the fishing boats. 50 feet away a man and his black Labrador are lazily unloading their craft. Me? I've got me feet on a rail at the water with a cold Red Stripe and a plate of pulled pork and a side of poppers. Ah, yes. Porky's Bayside, where the food is good and the setting is serene. The drive through the upper and middle Keys has been one of sloughing off the road dust, a little bit more with each bridge and each island. But now, after a leisurely stay here, the drive to the lower Keys will be one of peace and tranquility.

  • Trish D.

Interesting place, live music was good. Deep fried key lime pie was just too tempting to pass up, especially when you're on a quest to try as many different versions of the traditional dessert as possible. It was actually pretty good considering that it was frozen pie.

Some of the best BBQ pork I've ever had. The red snapper is also wonderful. Portions are always plentiful and service is great. Entertainment nightly. The only thing that could make this place better would be to have a full bar so I could have margarita's with dinner. They do serve margarita's but they are wine based not Tequila. But the beer is always cold. The only reason I don't give them a five star is because Be WARNED: Be sure to check your bill, they add on the tip and put it where the tax should be, (totally not a cool thing to do, to me that's scaming)and when I finally caught on and asked my server she roughly explained we add on for party's of five or more and left. Now I'm ok with adding on for larger party's, being a server for many many years of my life and trust me I've worked everywhere from local joints, to total tourist places like restaurant in Universal and Sea World to the JW Marriott. And this was no way to handle the add on. To me she was hoping we would not catch the add on since it was added on like the tax and she would get a double tip. Had many girls scam this before at the big M when I worked there. Bad Bad way to make a few extra bucks So again, bewared and check your bill

i am a long time keys resident and never stopped at porkys before till last night. the keysie atmosphere was nice upon entering but things went wrong immediately after that. everywhere people have written with magic marker on the roof beams, etc. an apparent tradition there. when we asked for a marker to leave our tag we were informed we could no longer do that by the waiter even though we noticed some recent dates on existing autographs. the waiter with blonde hair and a pony tail had such an attitude like he really could not stand his job, immediately made the rest of the evening unpleasant. the blonde hair manager would trail behind him trying to be nice to people but the damage done by the waiters attitude was unrepairable. stay away from the blonde hippie waiter and maybe you can have a good time. we had the ribs which were some of the worst i have ever had.

On our return journey threw the Keys, we were looking for a quick but tasty spot to stop. Porky's Bayside definitely fit the bill. Though little more than a shack sitting on the dock, the southern style barbeque has alot to offer every diner. We sampled both their seafood and their barbecue. We started with a savory smoked fish spread. I had the grilled key shrimp. Not only were the shrimp fresh but Porky's blend of seasoning made the dish top notch. My husband tried the Carolina peppered pulled pork. With its mustard glaze and red pepper flakes throughout, this was all about the grill, not a pile of sauce. What else is good at porky's? The kind of side dishes youd expect at a barbecue - potato salad, baked beans, cole slaw and the like. We also had what we thought was one of the best pieces of key lime pie we tried on our trip - although we weren't brave enough (and were way too full) to attempt their deep fried version. In the future, if we have luck fishing in the Keys, we will definitely take Porky's up on their special dish, "Cook you Fillet" which offers three different ways to cook a fillet of your fresh catch.

  • Michelle T.

We stopped here to have them cook our catch after fishing one day, and we asked them to cook our snapper and mackerel blackened, fried, and grilled. All were pretty good, but I was particularly impressed with the flavors used in the grilled snapper marinade/rub. We really liked the taste of the french fries, and my family enjoyed the fried key lime pie, but I wasn't a fan - it tasted more like a key lime cheesecake (it may have made cooked thicker to stand-up to frying, but I wasn't impressed). They were nice enough to give us the pie for free since we had them cook up about $100 worth of fish for us. Waitstaff was friendly and accommodating.

this place was average, nothing to write home about. again, keys has slim pickings for food so if you live down there and get a hankering for bbq, stop in but i wouldn't make the trip just to try this place. the deep fried key lime pie was pretty disgusting. i wish restaurants would get a clue, if you work hard to make something from scratch don't murder it with bought cornstarchy fruity sauces poured all over, same goes for hershey's syrup!

  • Matthew W.

We came to this place for their deep fried key lime pie, and we were all disappointed. This frozen key lime pie is battered in a tempura-like batter, deep fried, then served with a strawberry-tasting liquid sauce or topping. We liked the novelty of eating a deep fried pie, and the batter tasted good, but the pie lacked any key lime flavor, and the frozen pie mixed with the deep fried hot batter on top of the strawberry(?) topping was just weird. 1 star for the deep fried key lime pie, and this was the worst key lime pie we had out of 9 places along the Keys. However, we were there for happy hour, and they have $5 appetizers (both the fried plantains and the mahi mahi fingers were good), and $1.25 glasses of a local Key West Ale. The Key West Ale was just okay without much flavor, but it was cheap, cold, local, and on tap.

Just had an amazing meal here! We had the steamed shrimp to start, which to be fair is almost a meal in itself. My wife and I decided on the meal for two which included ribs, smoked chicken and the pulled pork. With this you you get four sides! I love smoked food, and you can tell this is the real deal, not just chemical smoke poured over then microwaved. Upon entry we were greeted by the owner and shown to a table, and asked what we would like to drink. Within a couple of miniutes our drinks arrived and we were given our menus. We asked some questions which our server answered with knowledge and after a short while our starters arrived which were perfect. Our mains turned up very quickly and were superb however we just could not eat it all. The atmosphere was great with live music. This place is very open plan ie there are no windows and there are loads of "things" hanging from the roof which all adds to the experience. Highly recommended and well worth a visit.

Yuck!! I'll just get to it..I ordered the yellowtail sandwich, blackened, with sweet potato fries. The server told us the yellowtail was brought in fresh daily...maybe from a swamp..it was really muddy tasting. It was also bland, it barely had any seasoning on and looked pale. It was served on a dry bun with lettuce, tomato and tarter sauce which you needed to get some flavor. The sweet potato fries were really repulsively absolutely and totally disgusting. They were thick cut wedges that seemed like they might have been baked and then sat for a few days in the fridge so they were slimy and cold. Worst ever sweet potato fries! makes me sick thinking about it. My husband had the pork sandwich which he barley touched because it was tuff and tasted like they cooked it in the oven and added some liquid smoke to it. Really bad food. Even if your desperate for BBQ I wouldn't eat here. Oh and the service is not great. I asked for the bill and she took so long we went to the bar to wait. She walked passed us and put the bill on the table and walked back to the kitchen so I went to get the bill and paid at the bar..some people are so strange..you really think you're going to get a good tip being a jerk?
