High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.

High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Three stars means we found this new Applebee's to be A-OK. While not yet up to operating as a well-oiled machine, on first inspection this place seems to be doing most things fairly well. Our particular appetizers were tasty and cooked well, steaks were tender and grilled perfectly to order, while chicken and shrimp dishes were just okay. A big downfall was the arrival of extremely HOT sizzling metal plates that actually burned the wood trivets that were holding them. The wood smoked so badly we were afraid it might catch fire! As a result, the meal on the plate quickly overcooked itself right at the table, which is definitely not good for more delicate entrees such as chicken or shrimp. Not all meals are served on these burning plates, so if you're in any doubt, be sure to ask when you order if you'd like to avoid this drama-done-badly experience. Smaller downfalls were the overabundance of onion & garlic on our entrees and the lack of side dish variety. The night we dined the only non-potato vegetable side available was plain broccoli and even that arrived undercooked. (It's too bad it didn't arrive on a sizzling plate, too, as that would have at least seared it.) As it was, the broccoli was very close to its naturally raw state. Seating comfort in this restaurant was tolerable, but we wouldn't have wanted to stay past the half hour that we did. The chairs are not good for lingering or relaxing. Our particular table was also somewhat cramped. The atmosphere here is the usual kitschy Applebee's style, but quieter than many area restaurants despite the fact it was jam packed with (mostly) snowbirds. At least we could hear our own conversation without feeling a need to shout. There are ample numbers of television screens for the sports-minded but not so many as to detract from interpersonal interaction. Wait staff bordered on being overly attentive, but we knew they meant well and were simply too inexperienced not to know they shouldn't reach over people's plates to retrieve stray napkin binders or used dishes. We also noticed that several other tables had to send items back to the kitchen for one reason or another (uncooked broccoli was a favorite,) sometimes repeatedly so, leading us to believe there are some glitches to be worked out in the kitchen, too. We like to be optimistic and believe that a few more weeks of experience will remedy most of these situations. All in all, this is an okay place to have lunch or dinner when at the Irlo Bronson Hwy/Orange Lake Blvd. intersection of Kissimmee, an area that seems to be adding a new restaurant every other month or two lately. As locals, we definitely welcome the variety and, especially, more consistent quality in a part of town that's previously not been known for it. Applebee's joins the ranks of reliable eateries such as Miller's Ale House and the Darden restaurant trio across the street (Olive Garden, Longhorn Steakhouse and (soon to come) Bahama Breeze.) It's now much easier for permanent residents, tourists and snowbirds alike to avoid the plethora of sub-par restaurants just a few miles to the east that for years have been able to get away with mediocrity or worse due to a persistent attitude that having a continuing flow of tourists means they don't need to provide a quality experience.

This location has come a long way. we were there from the first day it opened and staff needed A LOT of polishing. by now though, service is okay and the food is prepared in a timely manor. my husband and i very much enjoy the great soup and salad lunch special for $6.99. The shrimp salad, paired with the tomato soup is the best. they also have half priced appetizers (still the full portion though) 10pm-close every day. try the spinach dip...

Probably one of the best places I've ate while in Orlando. Manny was our server and he was super attentive. Food and apps came out good, hot, and quick. Would definitely go back.

Well let me start by saying no matter what deal Applebee's offer, a free meal, a free dessert heck a free car, it's not worth it. This place got me back after 5 years of being on my restaurant black list. Wow. Now they became a permanent entry. First they tried to sit my wife and I at a kids table in the far back, when we asked for the booth we walked past they seemed like they needed manager approval. The first bad omen was the crazy sticky table that made me feel like I was at a CiCis pizza. They offered a free appetizer from their new menu. See the franchise is spouting their new and improved menu, I looked at the website and it seemed pretty good. The food sounded tasty, photographed well and was just enough to get my wife and I to try it. The free appetizer arrived, frozen shrimp fried and tossed in siracha mayo. It was bad. And I immediately knew the mistake we made. I wanted out but it might be too late. Our food arrived and I felt like I entered the 3rd realm of hell. I told my wife we have to get out of here. I ordered a Philly cheesesteak made with beer cheese. I got a tired, grey slab of industrial grade skirt steak covered in plastic American cheese and flash fried fries. My wife had pasta with old dried out chicken fingers. The only thing that taste worse then this food was the realization that this hot steaming pile of garbage was going to cost me $40 by time this was over. We were not going to pay for this shit, wishing we had gone to McDonald's instead, seriously I would rather have McDonald's. I have had frozen food that has more flavor and tasted fresher then this worthless pile of crap. The most used piece of equipment in this kitchen is the microwave, but then the freezer is working pretty hard also. No amount of water down domestic drafts during a 2 for 1 special could drown out the lack of culinary skills this hell hole destined to be the series finale on kitchen nightmares has to offer. The only highlight is the story my wife and I got about one of our worst dining experiences ever. Go eat at the target snack bar across the street, it's fine dining compared to this chain of wonders.

RUN!!!!!! Go anywhere else. I will start with a near empty restaurant, followed up with a pleasant server offering beverages and supplying us with dirty plates and utensils. We ordered our appetizers; French onion soup made with chicken broth and shredded Swiss cheese and a spinach dip, which arrived cold. The pleasant server took it to the kitchen where they were kind enough to microwave it for us. Then the entrees arrived. I ordered the amazing looking burgers you see on the commercials, but I ordered it plain. It appears plain but nowhere near as plump as expected. It does however leak something. A sauce. I ask the pleasant server about this and my cold fries. She takes them to the kitchen and returns about 2 minutes later with a "new burger and fresh fries". I opened my burger to add ketchup and noticed residual sauce. Manager said the cook threw the patty back on the grill to cook the sauce off because they are young and stupid. So not only did I touch the food that he put on a grill where other people's food would be cooked, he touched my food again and did who knows what to it. I spoke with a manager who removed my meal from the bill. Husband had a steak meal which was ok. This was our last visit to Applebee's.

Three stars is being generous. We went in with low expectations, and they pretty much delivered. Service was very slow. but it wasn't our server's fault, she was handling a very large section it seemed all by herself. Each thing we ordered took at least 15 minutes to come to the table: my drink from the bar, our daughter's pizza, the appetizer or mozzarella sticks took an especially long time, and then of course, the entrees came out right on top of them a couple minutes later. Server was friendly, but seemed inexperienced and a victim of poor staffing. As for the food: my sangria was surprisingly worth the long wait, the mozzarella sticks were pretty good, my oriental chicken salad was fresh and delicious, but my husband's steak was terrible in every way possible. We went because somebody gave us a gift card and we will definitely not be back.

Very slow service. No clean silverware. Meals came out different times. Mine was cold and wrap was falling apart. Manager brought new wrap made wrong. He was very short with me not apologetic or genuine. With all the other choices around this area I would stay away from Applebee's.

We asked to sit on the patio. They said.... Hmmm. We will see if we can get a server that wants to serve you out there. Then we went to the patio. Took forever for service. It was buy one get one free drafts. They brought us both of our buy one frees at the same time. Really???? Now my second beer is 100 degrees. Ok retraction. I asked her if I could trade my hot beer for a cold beer, and she did. I had to go in to get silverware and napkins. And she said oh, I think these were yours. When I asked for my son's drink, she said, ok, I'll try. The person who brought our apps was obviously annoyed at the restaurant and asked for our tip cuz the waitress didn't deserve it. And now I've been waiting for our food for quite some time. I'm very disappointed in this Applebee's. It's a good thing that Applebee's food stands on its own. The food was delicious. Oh man. It didn't end well. They brought the bill. $56. We gave our credit card. The bill came back $65. Hmmmm. Oh wait, it was someone else's bill. How do u charge my credit card with someone else's bill??? The ONLY reason this place has 2 stars is because I love their food. Btw, there were no paper towels in the men's room. Upon exiting, a waitress offered for my husband to wipe his hands on her shirt claiming it is customer service. Really??? Ew. C'mon man. And guess what....no paper towels in the girl's room either. I blame this catastrophe on the management. Run a tighter ship. Upon exiting I noticed our waitress was eager to go smoking with two dudes who were waiting for her at their car. Really?

There was a bit of unpleasantness when we were first seated, as we were a large group and they seemed to only have a limited amount of seating for larger parties. They didn't seem to want to give us the larger table even though the restaurant was about 25% full. After we worked that out I was hoping that the food would be the usual delicious, dependable, consistent Applebee's food. This was not the case. I had my usual trio of sliders, wings and wonton chicken tacos. The sliders were too rare, the wings barely had any sauce, and the taco shells looked underdone or discolored, and there was barely any slaw in them and they were haphazardly thrown on the plate. This whole experience was a huge disappointment.

Wow I had no idea a company could care so little about food. Frozen, reheated, soggy garbage. The fries were bad! How to do mess up fries?! I kid you not easily the worst meal I have ever eaten at a restaurant.

Walked in and asked the manager if he had enough staff on today and he said always...NOT the case 2 servers on and ours in the weeds because she was double and tripled seated..we got our order in food came out and then our server was gone and in the weeds again .our server had 2 tables walked out on her after they other drinks ..order dessert for my 5 year old and she had to eat her sundae among the pile of dirty dishes see pic below..I confronted the same manager that seated us about being understaffed and pulling the server out of the weeds!! I was so frustrated and disappointed that I could not deal with it and walked out ...NEVER EVER will I go to this location again!! Bad management they seemed busy doing paper work at a table in the bar area!! Hope they get a chance to read this as well as you Yelpers!! And to be in a High volume tourist location!!!

Worst Applebee's I ever been to!! My family and I usually go every Friday to Applebee's around the Ft. Lauderdale area, it is great, we like the food and the 2 4 1 drinks. This location has the worst service I have ever experienced. First the host was very rude I stated I needed a table for 4 adults and 2 babies , she responded in a very rude way " just tell me the total number of people". After we say down our waitress seemed clueless, she came back 3 times to the table to rectify the order we have her, we had to wait one hour to get our food, and when we finally got it, it was not what we order. Anyways, I ordered a side of rices or my child, I was feeding her the rice and I found a big sharp piece of plastic, thank God my child did not eat that. I addressed it to the manager, he did not seem very helpful. I would never ever go there again!!!!!!!!!!

She was attentive and made sure we were happy though out our meal I've been to very expensive place and her service would kick them in the butt!! .... Also the manager John was great as well. He ask if we were Ok and if we had any problems .... And I was happy to say that everything was beyond amazing!!! Don't listen to the other reviews because I could Not be any happier with everything they had to offer !! I give them two thumbs up and will always come back when I'm in Orlando area !!!!

I'm allotting three stars to this establishment merely for the fact that we were seated and served quickly, and because the service was friendly. My family and I visited this Applebee's during our vacation to Disney World. We love our Abblebee's back at home in Northern California, so I was looking forward to some old favorites. The atmosphere and din at this restaurant was as to be expected. Our server was friendly and our food arrived quickly, but this is where my complaints begin. I ordered a steak, cooked medium-well, with green beans and garlic mashed potatoes. My steak had clearly been microwaved and was cooked well done, and my green beans were emitting a strange fish-like stench. My husband also ordered a rare, which had been cooked far too long for his liking. My daughter's french fries were very cold, and my cocktail was warm. I am well aware that this is an Applebee's, so I didn't leave there feeling completely defeated, however I won't plan on returning during our stay here in Florida.

Not so good asked for well done, it was bloody. No steak sauce for tbe bloody steak. The margaritas was 2 for 1, he brought me both at the same time. So by the time I finished 1 the other was all melted water down. No napkins they too busy flirting with one another in there Julius my waiter was horrible. Never go back here. O yeah then he rushed me looking for a tip YEAH RIGHT I'm a big tipper but not today . Then they talking about the customers at the front WOW!!! U HATE YOUR WAITER JOB GO TO COLLEGE GET A REAL ONE.

Three words. WORST RESTAURANT EVER!!! This was by far the worst restaurant experience of our lives. After waiting forever for our drinks it took an hour just to order our food. Then it took another 40 minutes to get half of a ten person order. Three of these orders were kids Mac and cheese, chicken strips, and a grill cheese. Yes, that's right, 40 minutes for a grill uu. But it only gets worse. Four other orders came out 15 minutes after the first five. And one of those was also a grilled cheese. If you are counting, that's 55 minutes for the second grilled cheese. And we didn't even get one order. Manager was acting apologetic but did nothing to make it better. Found out that the GM was in the house but he never he came over. I will never go back to another Applebee's for the rest of my life.

Nice food. Always fresh and arrives in a reasonable amount of time. The patter seems fairly consistent here; a seater followed by a waitress/bartender, followed by kitchen staff delivering each course, followed by the manager stopping by to check up. On arrival we were advised it was karaoke night, which was a little surprising, but I suppose they are trying to capitalise on the tourist trade passing through, particularly as this place is open until 2am. Don't let this put you off. They were very clear no one would be called up to sing unless they had asked to, and the DJ was more than happy just to take song requests.

In town for family vacation. Love my Applebees back in Tempe, Az. This one was a disappointment! Slow service, they had 40 min wait when we watched dirty tables just sit there for over 10min, witnessed several customers get tired of waiting and walk out. 1 person in our party ordered a meal that should have came w/chicken and shrimp, but the plate was missing the shrimp. Another person ordered meal w/red potatoes and she never recd those. Not acceptable. Hostess and waitresses were acting like they were working, playin w/the jukebox thing. Don't recommend this place to anyone!

They have a great happy hour 10pm-2am that includes most drinks 2 for 1 & 1/2 off most appetizers. Our drinks came out fast. My only complaint was the food service. Only half of our food order (we only ordered appetizers) came out on time. We waited for a while & the rest of our order still wasn't out. When we said something to the bartender, she asked someone to check on the food. A few minutes after that, we finally got the chips & salsa and boneless wings (waiting a total 25 minutes!)... only for the wings to be BBQ instead of the Buffalo we ordered. At that point, we asked for the manager. Shawn (I think that was his name) explained what happened, apologized, and told us they would get the food bill. I know mistakes happen, and Shawn was very nice & understanding about everything.

I haven't been to Applebees since I was a tyke, but I will be back based on my experience tonight. We went there because the Miller's Ale House next door was quoting us an hour long wait, and when it's not a fight night I'm not about to wait that long. We waited a total of about 10min to be seated and were greeted by our server rather quickly. Based on what was going on at the time it was apparent that we had arrived towards the last phases of a very busy dinner service. Our server was cordial enough and gave us adequate time to make our selections and place our order. About 10 minutes after placing our order she approached our table to inform us that the kitchen was backed up and it may take some time to receive our food. To be honest I thought that was unnecessary given the fact that in total our wait time for our food was no more than 20min. I wouldn't have batted an eye if she had said nothing at all. My fiance ordered chicken pasta, I got the bruchetta chicken, my sister in law got a quesadilla burger, my mother in law got a sirloin, and both of my kids got chicken strips w/ fries. All of the food was hot and cooked to order. The server seemed a bit antsy as if she were concerned that something had gone awry and that was a bit off putting. After our meal our server offered my daughters complimentary desert that went w/ the kids meals. If she hadn't offered we would have been none the wiser. The only thing that was truly disappointing about the service was the time it took to get our check. I can only assume that our server was dealing w/ an issue that was beyond our control. None the less that's forgivable in light of our overall experience. They also have a good Happy Hour that I am intent on checking out w/ 1/2 off appetizers and drink specials after 10pm-2am. The 2-4-1 Captain Morgan and 2-4-1 Miller Lite are also a nice perk that appears to be an all the time thing. I will be sure to stop in again.

Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.

Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain.
