Excellent! Real, fresh, beautiful food! Our whole family got the salad bar and it's just a wonderful deal. Amazing beets, carrots, peas, etc. The free soft serve that comes with it is really nice as well. We appreciate that it's no high fructose corn syrup~ Also some of their salad bar items are organic so that's a major plus for us. Definitely coming back!

Excellent lunch spot! I've been here a few times and have not been disappointed yet. Great options including a salad bar, soups, sandwiches, and you can top lunch off with free ice cream. Some gluten free and vegan options too.

I checked this place out because of the good reviews. When I entered the place, it was unimpressed and felt like it was an old cafeteria. But, since I was already here I decided to order the California club and spicy seafood gumbo. The food arrived at our table and wow did it look a lot better than the place. Taking one bite *chew chew chew* and OMG GREATEST SANDWICH EVER!!!! The turkey was stacked high, the avocado was green and fresh, and the buns were croissants that were warm toasty and flaky! I couldn't believe how awesome this sandwich was! I'm usually not a fan of cold sandwiches, but this is place really blew me away! How could it get any better? I got the fresh fruit and omg even their fruit was full of flavor! It was actually ripe and sweet! Not one of the "hey, here's some ehh fruit that tastes kinda like the fruit" kind of side that a lot of restaurants serve. The seafood gumbo was also amazing! It had the aroma of seafood and I was excited to give it a shot because everything was delicious. One look and you could just see that they didn't skimp out on the shrimp! Taking a bit, it was really savory with a bit of a kick to it, as a good gumbo should! To top it all off, there is free ice-cream. Yes, free self serve ice cream. Take a cone! Take two! I overindulged because every food item that I tried was absolutely amazing and blew my high expectations out of the water. I wish the place had a better atmosphere than an old cafeteria, but I came for the food and this place deserves 5-stars!

Not sure it deserves 4 stars or 3 as I am not a lover of subs/meat sandwiches, & I prefer organic and local ingredients; however, the Pork Veracruz sandwich (see pic) was very tender and tasty, & the bread was fresh. It could have used more meat, but it still trumped Subway. The ordering cashier was extremely friendly, & the bus boy was great at offering to clear our table of dirty dishes (3x). There's "free" soft serve that u get yourself (choc, vanilla, or swirl in a cup or a small cone); it's offered with any purchase, including "just a soda," exclaimed a staff member. The restaurant was clean, the women's restroom was clean, & the noise level was good. Jason's would be a good place for a sports or dance gathering, a club meeting, or even a birthday party...lots of moveable chairs and tables. It also has a seperate take out/pick up counter with register so u don't have to wait if ur not dining in. The salad bar was large and offered much more than most (i.e. Ruby Tuesdays). Not my type of place due to the lack of organics and the emphasis on sliced meat, but I'm guessing sub lovers would be happy eating here...

Good deli sandwiches and salad bar. Kind slow for a work lunch sometimes. I always load my pockets with crackers on the way out soon good

Excellent food and service each time we visit. Their muffaletta is oustanding, and it is hard to go wrong with unlimited free ice cream. For a fast quality lunch, this restaurant hits the spot.

Fresh food and friendly staff, but your experience can be hit or miss. We have ordered the delivery for our office now several times and I have dined in once. Your sandwich will be hit or miss, sometimes with very little to no meat on it. Also be sure to specify if you want the side item because you will pay for it and they will not hesitate to leave it out if you don't ask. Overall I recommend dinning in and please see my rules below in regards to the delivery service. 1. Check your order before they leave because they will forget something. Then be sure to get your money back for what they forgot to include because they won't follow up. 2. Do not order from the catering menu as it is a ripoff. You will spend less letting each person pick their own sandwich. Yes it's fresh but the inconsistency of the service only deserves three stars.

Ok. Decent deli type food. Sandwiches and salads and soups. It's a place that I'll go to when someone else wants to, but I'm never in the mood for otherwise. Free soft serve ice cream is nice. Food is just ok.

  • Customer Q.

I keep going back to this Jason's Deli. Why? Because their food is good, reasonably priced, and I have always had great service there. The last time I was there I had the California Club sandwich for the first time. Great sandwich. Fresh ingredients. You order up front, and then the food gets delivered to your table. When the waiter/waitress gets there -- it's obvious these people have been trained well in customer service because they are like the most enthusiastic people on the planet and seem quite eager to make your visit a good one. I am not making this up. And I don't work there -- I'm just a frequent customer.

Heavens! Is this place really part of the Jason's Chain? We hopped in grab a quick bite and almost all the plates I put my hands on still had food grit on them! When I pointed it out to a staff member, her response was to shrug her shoulders helplessly - by way of something to offer she said, "They've been through the washer..." Hmm, well yes, that's a point - one would think that it would make them clean. If a customer is pointing out multiple dishes with issues, the correct response is "I'm very sorry, I'll make sure the manager knows." Also my son's chocolate milk was completely sour. I didn't take it back because I just didn't need the hassle of trying to get a dollar back. The salad bar was reasonably okay. The grill cheese sandwich was tough - almost like the bread was stale. The only thing that lived up to the Jason's name was the chicken Tortilla Soup (which is why I gave them a 2 star instead of a 1).

Have nothing but high marks for this place. My husband got a pastrami/corned beef combo sandwich that was piled so high, it looked like a cartoon. I got a "beefeater" which is essentially a French Dip, that I swear will make you hear angels sing every time you take a bite. They have soup, and salad options that look amazing. Everything is prepared fresh, and in plain view. Restaurant is clean, choices a-plenty, and FREE self-serve, soft-serve. What more do you want??!! Loved it. Definitely will go back.

Good food, great for kids, well priced, and the staff make a world of difference!!! Freebies are good for picky toddlers that don't want to eat anything.

My husband and I wanted to try a new place for lunch, and I remembered there was a Jason's deli in town. The service was great, and one of the team members showed us how to use one of their high chairs for our daughter. (They fit a car seat as well as a toddler.) I opted for the salad bar. it was good, the only thing wrong was a weird smell from the cooler. It was like there was a water build up or something.

Saturday was the grand opening, where you could come in and all dishes were free. Sadly, we missed the "free food day." We definitely heard about it from all of our friends and family, so we attempted to visit on Sunday for regular priced food, assuming they would be open. They were closed... We watched for a few minutes from the parking lot as large groups of potential customers were just as confused as we were approached the deli, searching for food with no entry. Today was the hard opening, and we were there first thing for lunch. I have been eyeing their menu online for almost a month now. After hearing my cousin sing their praises from the Tampa location, I was expecting something amazing. Don't get me wrong, it was pretty good. And, this is just the beginning of my relationship with Jason's Deli. There were some "new business" hints, like; staff still in training on register and menu, mix-ups in orders, and bathrooms out of order. I heard great things about the salad bar, which is clean and somewhat impressive. There is feta cheese, three kinds of lettuce, and some great salad dressings with a price tag a little over $7.00. It was decent and everything was fresh. The drinks are free refill, and there is an impressive selection of flavored teas. Mostly, I came here for the Mufaletta sandwich, that is the signature dish. After watching an episode about Jason's Deli on Food Network's Unwrapped, I learned that the bread is made in New Orleans just to make it even more authentic. We ordered the classic style with Ham and Salami, provolone, and the famous olive tapenade. The bread was covered in sesame seeds and toasted to perfection, however there was only one slice of salami and a ton of ham. The olives brought all of the flavor to the party. Maybe they will add more salami in the future to make this sandwich more balanced, still very delicious. The zydeco music playing definitely made the sandwich more festive. The baked potatoes were massive, I definitely see one of those spuds in my future. Some of the food bar is complimentary as well, but I am still confused as to which parts. The free soft serve ice cream is definitely a nice surprise. Their entire menu is online with pricing, if you are curious.

First I need to stay. Don't trust reviewers that only have 1 or 2 reviews. To me that yells of management creating a yelp account to give them a good review. The good first: Jason's is a Deli, large sandwiches, and big interior. But that's all I think they have going for them. I ordered the Reuben Sandwich. Yes it was large, but I found the corn beef to be dry. Thin slice of bread, thousand island and a large serving of corned beef made for messy eating. But since the sandwich did cost $8 they are trying to give you your moneys worth. The bad next: The seating sucks ! Yes, it's a deli with free for all seating arrangements. Small tables, very loud when busy. They have a salad bar which my friend tried, he said he liked it. But over rating is Meh. We/I won't be rushing back to Jason's Deli. Personally I think McCallisters is much better.

Been there several times now, only downside is its location in a traffic congested part of town. But if you're at the mall, it's the best place to eat. Good soups, nicely stocked salad bar (aught to be stocked for almost $8), seemingly limitless soft serve with chocolate syrup.

Customer service reps at the front were excellent. The food on the salad bar was fresh! Very pleased with my experience here.

I am giving the 5 stars basically for the salad bar alone. As some other reviewers have mentioned their salad bar is superb! I would go so far as to say the best in Gainesville. I normally don't "go" for salad bars due to the fact that I know too much about the germ fest that is most salad bars for it to even be tempting. However, the salad bar at Jason's, while not huge, is fresh, well-tended, spotlessly clean and very delicious. I usually get a cup of the tomato basil soup which is really really good and do a trip to the salad bar. I've had a wrap and a turkey reuban off the menu and they were fine, but like I said, the 5 stars is due to the fact that they do a salad bar as it ought to be, but almost never is, done. Children's meals are healthy and good. My daughters love the free soft serve which, by the way, is free of high fructose corn syrup.

Love Jason's Deli!! The food is super fresh and the people working there are awesome. The restaurant is clean and friendly which I really appreciate with the kids, and the kids really appreciate the free frozen yogurt! Every restaurant should take a note from JDeli - it's a great product, served in a great way, by people who are happy and proud to work there. It's a great combination and it shows. Thanks! We'll be back. Again and again, and again....

    A. Maz. Ing. I'm a huge salad bar fan and since we don't have a sweet tomatoes (yet?!?!) this is my favorite place hands down. Make sure you try the date muffins, enjoy the organic peas (as much as I want? really?) and never leave without some frozen yogurt.

I had never been to a Jason's deli and wow was I impressed. Super tasty, excellent portions.

  • Josh S.

Since my last review, Jason's seems to have worked out the service kinks and the lines are no longer out the door and slow-moving, so that's nice. After trying a few different sandwiches and the salad bar, I've now figured out to come here only for the salad bar. For my tastes, it's the best salad bar in Gainesville. And if I'm looking for something quick and fresh on this side of town, this often becomes the best option. The sandwiches are fine, but they don't stand out compared to other options nearby like the salad bar does. It's still kind of just the place I settle for and not quite a destination, so for that it remains 3 stars.

I have been to Jason's twice now and the thing that stands out the most to me is how nice and helpful the staff are. Both times I came here I got the salad bar. Not the largest selection but one of the best I've seen in Gainesville. Ice cream is included as well.

I love Jason's Deli. The food is really tasty, inexpensive, and there are healthy options for the kids. The salad bar is well stocked plus there is unlimited ice cream at the end (without HFCS for those who care). Its a place that works for my family, with vegans and meat-lovers, and friendly service to boot. Once my soup was really concentrated and they offered to replace it with any other kind of soup I wanted.

Went tonight and gotta say after reading reviews, I wasn't sure if I wanted to try it, but GLAD I DID. I got the turkey wrap with blue chips n salsa. The wrap was average, nothing special. It was good, but kinda the same as anywhere else, but the salsa was AMAZING!! It was super spicy and so good. My kids got the Chicken Alfredo n Mac n cheese and they seem to like it, but they offer free ice-cream to everyone, so I think they mainly ate without complains because they wanted ice-cream. My husband got the Chicken Caesar wrap with the blue chips n salsa. He didn't say much about the wrap, so guessing its also pretty average, but he did like the salsa and chips...It's also very reasonable in prices. It's worth trying once for sure. The salad bar they had looked like it was worth getting on my next visit, lots of choices and all you can eat...

Stopped in for the first time today. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Didn't get to try the salad bar this time but it did seem to be fresh with a good assortment. Parking is easy and lots of room inside for diners. Staff was friendly today

I visited this restaurant on 10/26/11 at noon. This Jason's is relatively new to Gainesville (2011) and seems to be attracting a lot of people, so it must be doing some goods things. This location is next to the Oaks Mall and Toys R Us. The parking was ample and right in front of the entrance. As soon as my friend and I walked in, we were greeted by the manager. We did not have to wait in line to order because there were multiple cashiers to take orders. It did take me a minute to decide because there are tons of options to choose from... sandwiches being the main theme (salad bar looked awesome). I got the muffaletta sandwich with salami and a cup of tomato bisque. It took about 15 minutes to come even though my friend's sandwich took about 5 minutes. They hinted at forgetting about my order. The sandwich was HUGE and tasted great! The soup was good too. The portion size was plenty, the only negative criticism I have about this restaurant is waiting for my food to come out -took too long (due to an employee mistake). There were a lot of people at Jason's when I went but there were still plenty of tables, inside and out. Everyone around seemed satisfied... but I'm sure that some of this is because they have free soft-served ice cream! Yay! That was a plus. You definitely need to go to this place for lunch sometime. I wouldn't recommend it for dinner, but that's because I like a bit more ambiance.

  • Eunice C.

I've been here 4 times and each time I tried something new, mainly because I didn't really like what I had the previous time enough to order it again. Surprisingly enough, the one stand-out sandwich that I liked was one of the leaner wraps. Chicken salad with pineapple in it, it was pretty good. The ambience is not great; reminded me of a school cafeteria. It feels very institutional and dirty. I'm not ready to give up on this place yet, obviously.

We were in Hogtown for appointments a couple of weeks ago and wanted to try this place out. They just opened a franchise in Tally, so we wanted a taste. At first glance, it looked pretty good. The salad bar had an express lane, and they had quite a selection of sandwiches. I chose the half sandwich (pastrami on an onion roll) and a cup of soup (chicken noodle). My guy had a club. I was pretty disappointed with my meal. I was expecting really lean pastrami on a fresh roll and I got lukewarm, fatty meat sliding out of a mildly flavored bun. The soup had clearly been allowed to cook down until it was stew, there was barely any liquid, and it was so salty I could not swallow a single spoonful of the stuff, It barely resembled chicken noodle soup. My guy liked his club, but I barely managed to make a meal out of the half sandwich and a rootbeer, which was a rare treat for me. I don't know if we have the courage to try the Tally location or not. We'll have to see.

Wasn't really impressed with this place. They have a salad bar which alot of ppl like. The food was okay, but wasnt wowed about the place at all. It was alittle confusing when I walked in. There was no sense of order at all. No menu on the wall where you ordered and def no one greeting myself and family to tell us how it all works. Like i said, the food was okay. I will prolly go back again with a open mind and give it another try for sure.

I've been here twice in the last month on Sunday after church with friends. For my purposes, it's better than most places seating-wise, because of the Gator room in the back where are group can all sit together without waiting forever. There was a line to order your food, but it moved along. On to the food. It's a tad on the expensive side, but like others said, you'll get more than your fair share of meat on your sandwich. Almost too much. Almost. The first time we visited, they were out of several items including chocolate milk, white milk, mac n cheese, baked chips, and kids pizza. I dismissed it as not being open very long, they're still trying to figure out their stock. Well, the next time they were out of chocolate milk again, gumbo, ice cream cones, and vanilla ice cream. I gather they opened beginning of May, so I think by now they should have their supply order figured out. I had no complaints about the food the first time, the quality was middle of the road. I ordered a full Reuben and cup of gumbo- both were hot and tasty. The second time around I just got the Mgr Special of half Reuben and cup of soup (broccoli cheese, the gumbo was out) was just as tasty, but both arrived at the table barely warm. We ordered two kids mac n cheese and they were the same temperature. Maybe they just didn't want my boys to burn themselves... The macaroni looked a lot like the kind out of the Kraft box, so I tried it, just to check. It was much cheesier, too bad it was almost cold! The salad bar looks fairly comprehensive except the glaring omission of diced ham (a major component of my salads). Also, it looks like they try to get healthier things whenever possible, such as some organic items on the salad bar, and no high fructose corn syrup in the ice cream. Overall, I wouldn't pick Jason's Deli, but I wouldn't complain if someone else suggested it.

Jason's Deli has pretty good food for a chain sandwich shop. The atmosphere of the one in Gainesville is a little generic but at least it seems clean. I've had the salad bar and several of the sandwiches, including the rueben (which claims to be grilled but it not grilled in the traditional sense) and each time I've enjoyed my lunch and been happy with the cost.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Jason's Deli!! I've been coming here since this place opened, and just realized I've never written a review. This is a fast casual place with great quality food, very friendly employees, and a clean restaurant. You order at a counter and they bring the food to your table. Similar to like a Panera, but they bring the food to you and clean your table for you. The salad bar is the best. Restrooms are always clean. Staff is always helpful. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for an enjoyable quick lunch. (Mainly sandwiches, soups, salads, etc) But they do have a menu with plenty of variety! Also, they have fountain Diet Dr Pepper..yum..and FREE Frozen Yogurt!

Worst run Jason's Deli I've ever been to. Been to around 8 in different states and this one is managed very poorly. Tried to take my family out to lunch on a Saturday. 30 minutes later after numerous inquiries about where our food was it finally came came out. Grilled Cheese sandwich was not toasted and cheese wasn't melted. Cuban Sandwiches didn't have the cheese melted. Manager needs more training on not making excuses and how to communicate in a customer oriented manner in solving an issue with an order. Excuses kept being made. At the end of it all he took our complete order off of our bill. Still a very bad experience. Won't ever return.

The Club Royale is fantastic! Love it without tomatoes. Smoked turkey breast, premium ham, bacon, lettuce, tomato, Swiss, cheddar, honey mustard on toasted all butter croissant. Served with chips or baked chips and a pickle unless otherwise stated. Also you can order online and pick it up at a special pick up counter at the front of the restaurant, very easy and convenient.

I have been here for lunch about 3 times. Each time I got the manager's special which is half a sandwich and a cup of soup for a pretty reasonable price. Good: Both the beef chili and chicken chili are delicious. It came out hot enough for me to eat it after my sandwich. Bad: Although I got a half sandwich, it was very small in size and they had great difficulty in swapping out one type of cheese for another at the register. Bonus: Free ice cream TL;DR If you want a quick lunch and not fast food, Jason's Deli tastes just fine.

Enormous sandwiches and awesome salad bar. A great addition to the gaineaville dining scene. My daughters like the free ice cream with the meal. I am on a low sodium diet and they gladly created a sandwich varied from the regular menu to satisfy my needs
