This place is great it is awesome to overlook the ice rink and drink some of the local beers on tap. I've had the food and definitely is high quality bar food. I enjoy a good priced pitcher of Avalanche beer every time I come here. Pool tables, arcade machines and even a air hockey table. This place is bomb I highly recommend coming back over and over again. It is a Avalanche and husker bar too!

Bender's is nothing amazing, but it's a solid place to grab a drink on occasion. And maybe some bar food too. Oddly enough, 2 years ago while in town looking for a place to live, we were staying at the Westin and ended up here to watch a Pittsburgh Steelers game. They have a good happy hour - house wines are $2.75 (I think) and they have good beer specials. The menu is HUGE and the burgers looked pretty good. We had already had an appetizer so decided to order something from the "under $5" menu. They make home made french bread pizzas! It tasted like elementary school lunch. Sometimes that's a good thing! For $4.95 you get 2 6 inch pizzas and a salad. Not a bad deal at all! We were there on a trivia night - it seemed like it could be fun. Note to all you trivia fans out there - it's LIVE trivia - with an actual person asking the questions and tallying up the answers. Seemed pretty interested.

This place is awesome. We were here for the week for softball and looking for a place to hang out with the team. I tell you what, Stephanie was awesome. Took care of us and made sure we had fun. We were there way past closing and let us hang out and continue getting us drinks. Love this place. I recommend it. Good food, good service.

We were stuck in Denver due to a snow storm and went to Bender's to watch the Pens game and have dinner. Great bar food, fun atmosphere to watch the game and fantastic service from Christen (best bartender in Denver!). I had the Frisco burger, which had great quality meat. We were there on a saturday evening and they had lots of discounted drinks, so I imagine they probably have drink specials around the clock! The restaurant also overlooks a hockey rink, so you can watch some live hockey while eating dinner! Visited in March 2013.

Great Sports bar you can watch live hockey or whatever on the well postioned TV's. Great for Kids Toddlers & children since they have an area with arcade games which makes an excellent kiddie corral. I always get the SouthWest Cheesesteak and have never been disappointed. If your a foodie stay away, go to Boulder where you belong. I hear there's a great Fusion Sushi Vegan French place that just opened there.

So!!!!! I drive from old wads and Ralston to watch ufc fights here. I know to get here at 630 and I'll get a spot today I was late. But Cathy the hostess/busser went around checked on tables n gave me a wait time for a two top. She was very gentle when asking hockey fans if they were watching the fight. Very impressed. Our waiter the only guy is always awesome and so is the short girl with spiky hair. Love the food try the basket food wings the thai version their amazing! Two people don't get the big nacho it's HUGE!!! Love this spot :)

We ended up at this place after our "regular" spot to watch the Red Wings was JAMMED. This place had ample seating with a view of the hockey rink below, which was pretty cool. I had the Veggie Mozzarella Panini and it was very tasty. Our server didn't really seem too interested in keeping our drinks full or asking if we needed anything else. Although, we might have used up all our hospitality when we asked him to change one of the TVs to the hockey game and he did, so maybe he didn't have anything left to offer. Oh! And they have curly fries! YES!

We had a small table of 2 and ordered nachos and a burger. Pretty typical food that took 55 minutes to deliver a hot burger and cold nachos. The server was actually good and understood that there was a problem with the food taking that long. Maybe this was an isolated incident with a bad cook? Another pet peeve is poor control over the TVs - it is a sports bar. NFL playoff football was on and half the TVs were showing bowling or some other sport. I will try Bender's again and delete this post if I have a different experience. For now, I have a bad taste in my mouth.

A group of friends and I would frequent this place pretty often for trivia on Thursday nights. The trivia is good but the whole experience started going downhill pretty quick. The Trivia Crowd: Started out as just some small groups of friends, having fun, no crazy people. But then came this group that consisted of 10-20 people (the limit is 6) that yelled, shouted, and made a big ordeal no matter if they were winning or losing. It got old quick. It got to the point where we couldn't hear our scores because they were too busy shouting. We stopped going. The Food: Pretty mediocre. I've had good bar food and bad bar food. This leans more towards the bad. The only really great thing on the menu is their pizza. And what an experience that was. While the pizza was good, the last time we were there they dropped our pizza not one, but two times. After about an hour and a half (trivia was over) we finally got our meal. The manager came out and told us it was on him (bonus!) but he didn't tell the waitress, so it was a long time before we could even get our bill straightened out. We were there for almost three hours. Most of the waiters and waitresses are not very nice. (And one is a bit too flirty for my liking.) I don't expect much from a sports bar though. I used to enjoy coming to this place, but each experience is worse than the last.

Solid all around, it's your average sports bar. It's pretty cool that you can see the ice rink from inside. The place is very hockey themed.

    (3)
  • Darren H.

Decent sports pub next to the ice rink. You can watch ice skaters or hockey from the bar which is unusually cool. Overall, a great place for the kids as they have plenty of video games to keep them out of your hair while you drink beer and watch games. Lots of TVs, friendly staff. Food is decent, basic bar food, at best.

Not impressed. We ordered the AHI Tuna appetizer and two sandwiches. They brought the appetizer out with the meal... And that sucks!! My husband had the pull porked and loved it. I had the burger and the grease was soaked through the bun.

Food was, for the most part, gross. And service was pretty slow even though we were one of three tables... I had the green chilli, it was way way too spicy and tasted terribly (and I actually like spicy food). I had to send it back b/c there was no way I could finish it. My husband had the potstickers, and they were crunchy! Like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours, yuck! They were out of the first 2 beers I ordered, apparently they had rotated to a new set of brews but hadn't bothered to update the menus. in addition, several of our orders did not come out as ordered and food took a long time to come out. Only good thing I can say if that their wings were pretty good.

Do you remember the television show, "In Living Color?" My favorite episodes were the two outrageously gay guys who critiqued film. They would say, "Hated it!" That is how I feel about Bender's Bar & Grill. Not because it is a bad place for food and drink but because it is not my kind of place. To be fair, the customers were mostly families with kids running around while the patrons dined. This is what I call "basket food." Everything is served in a basket with wax paper. Hubby ordered the Turkey Wrap and I ordered the Fish & Chips. They had one choice of red wine (not good) and a myriad of beers on tap (good for a Sports Bar). The oil they used in the deep fryer to cook my food was going bad and it tasted moldy. They offer a spectacular view (glass incased), of the Ice Rink from the restaurant. Like I said, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. So maybe this is a fun place and I ordered the wrong entrée but here is the final thing that bugged me...all the servers were women but one server. All of their uniforms are low cut and their boobs were hanging out. I do not have a problem with showing your boobs (I like Hooters), but this was a family restaurant and hey why aren't the guys showing something too if the women are? I believe in equality in the work place....hehehehe.

Expensive for the type of food.Food took over an hour and came out luke warm. Staff saw us taking group pictures and not once offered to take one of our group together.

My boyfriend plays hockey in the attached arena, so we went here after a game. The place was nowhere near full, yet it took at leaaast 45 minutes to get our food. It may have just been our server, but the service just was not very pleasing. I only ate a salad when I went there which was average.

  • Tami T.

I am so excited that I get to change my review! I love Benders, the food is so amazing, the salads they make are insane! Love the atmosphere, the location, the hockey and am happy to say that the staff has really picked it up, no complaints here! Great job!!!! YUMMY!

So i recently had my wedding reception at Benders Bar and Grill and me and my wife could not have been happier. Dealing with Benders was the easiest part of the whole wedding. The staff there was amazing as always. I am a long time customer of Benders and i can tell tell you there isnt one thing bad about this place. The food is always fresh and always kicks ass. The Service is great non stop. They are accomadating for anything you need. They show all the hockey games and football games. They show the UFC fights with no cover charge. They even let me hijack their PA system so i could play my own music during the wedding reception. I highly reccommend this place for a beer up to a party.

This is a place for beer and bar food after hockey. After a vigorous game, nothing like a few (or more) cold pitchers with your teammates. The food is nothing special but really, good enough for hungry hockey players. Staff is friendly and service is slow, but still tolerable, on busy hockey schedule nights at the Ice Centre.

My boyfriend and I live in Westminster and we are constantly looking for places that serve a good purpose for us. If we want to get dressed up and go somewhere, we typically end up downtown or on South Broadway. With that in mind, we were looking for a place to grab some breakfast and Bender's had a coupon for a BOGO breakfast so we thought we would try it out. I would have to say that the eggs benedict was SURPRISINGLY good! I was expecting standard bar food where things were edible, but not cooked well. I was really excited to see the hollandaise used REAL butter and the eggs were poached, not over medium like most bars/Village Inn type places. You can also watch hockey while you eat, which was a HUGE plus for me because hockey is the only sport I like. :) A big plus for me (as a second time around college student) is that they are open until 2am and have FREE WIFI! I like the fact that I can go and study without having to leave at 9pm like most coffee shops in our area! All in all, I would say Bender's is a solid place to grab a bite to eat, check out a game and utilize the free Wifi. I would NOT recommend this place for a fancy date night or for gourmet dining. Also, if you don't like kids - stay away! (It irks me when people who would end up in Larimer Square go to places like Bender's and then complain... come on... it's obviously not your scene, just stay away!)

Ah Benders. The biggest thing it has working in its favor is the fact that its right on the promenade and by the hotel. I'm sure that brings a lot of folks in. I had a burger and a beer and they brought it to my table quickly. The fries were covered in grease and the burger was cooked really well, but it didn't have as much blue cheese as it should have. It was mostly onions and mushrooms. The only other thing I'd say is that if you have little kids, sit as far away from the bar as you can. There were two servers at the bar who were having a heated discussion that involved a lot of bad language starting with the letter F.

  • Linken B.

Love this place! Best pizza around and the service is great. Always clean and the food is always good. The bartenders are fast and attentive and make sitting at the bar for my Friday night ritual fun. You can catch some games on tv or play some pool. Also catch some great hockey games live. Hooper the manager is fantastic as well. Always checking to make sure everything is good.

This place has gone WAY down. Molly shouldn't be employed anywhere in public. She didn't like that I didn't want olives on my nachos. I told her 3times i didn't want more. She still gave me more nachos with olives on them. Then she ignored us (I was with my girlfriend ) the rest of the day. We were there for6 hours today. A void this place like the plague. Unless you want bad service and get ignored.

What an amazing place to spend time with great people, food and drinks. The bar staff and waitress are always making sure we get what we order and do it in a timely fashion. The bar is always clean. I usually stay for a bit to watch the games at the bar. There is never a dull moment with the staff and the regulars that attend the bar. This is a fun and inviting place to be. We can't wait to go back.

    (5)
  • Julie C.

My dude plays hockey here, so naturally we spend a lot of time at this bar... even when he's not playing hockey. The bartenders are top notch and always friendly, and the food is delicious. My favs are the Honey Turkey Bavarian sandwich, or the Chipotle Gold wings. I also have been known to partake in the green chile fries or poutine. This is also one of the few places you can watch hockey games with the sound on, and they're always really good about playing the games you want to see on the TVs... just ask!

  • Kelly K.

I live behind the restaurant so I have frequently visited. The food is mediocre at best. I have stopped going because the service is slow and the servers are unfriendly if not plain rude.

This is my favorite place to watch hockey and football games or just stop in for happy hour and dinner! Everyone is so friendly and fun. I can always find a beer for whatever mood I'm in and the staff is super accommodating about putting my game on the TV. Love everyone here!

    (5)
  • Jeremy T.

All right, lets not kid our selves. The food here is not great. The beer selection is poor at best. The prices are not amazing. All of that said. I am a fan of this place. IT IS A BAR RIGHT ABOVE HOCKEY RINKS I play at several other rinks and I would LOVE for them to have a crappy bar in them. This place has a bar, and it isn't crappy. The staff is usually pretty friendly and everything else about it is functional, but it is great to be able to have a place to go right after a game. So yes, I am a fan of Benders.

Be careful.... check the health inspection reports and make your own decision. We did, and took a chance thinking that they had corrected everything (we visited a couple of months ago)... they have not. Without going into the absurd responses that we received from the management (after trying to flag down one of the owners who pretended not to see us), I will just say that they served our three year old moldy food. We had been there many times in the past, and when we learned about the health code violations we were sickened. Well, we saw it with our own eyes. Beware.

I'm here right now. Did research before coming. Have not had food or a drink yet, but when a bar specifically advertises it will have every game on because it has, for example, MLB Extra Innings, and the bartender asks me if the game is on regular TV because they decided not to buy Extra Innings, that does not make a happy customer. It's even stated on the menu that they have every extra package.

Hadn't been here in years - after ownership change. Menu was the same. Definitely needs attention. Food was awful. Service even worse. In the middle of eating/drinking they turned the music up so loud that you had to pretty much yell to be heard. If it wasn't for window seats to watch hockey I wouldn't go back.

Bender's Bar & Grill = a family friendly Sports Bar in the Burbs. Located inside the Ice Centre at the Promenade. So much so- half the bar is HUGE windows looking out over one of their three NHL Regulation size Ice rinks. Pretty cool place for hockey?? Yes. Very cool. Inside they have tons of classic Hockey Jerseys both framed on the walls and also hanging from the ceiling. Games- yes games. Great for kids of all ages! TV's- yes. HD TV's everywhere and the sound up to a comfortable Sportsbar volume. (A real plus) Beer= yes. Great selection and prices. Food= yes. Great typical BAR FOOD selections. I decided to enjoy the "Hangover Burger" - although I was not hungover the combo of melty cheesey goodness did not disappoint. Cooked to order (RARE) was another plus. Service prompt and courteous but very welcoming. Will I be back?? Yes- but only if I am in the area. Sorry Bender's I live/stay mostly downtown. .

It was great! We went for a friend's birthday and the whole upper part was reserved for us. We had a couple of very attentive waitresses. The Icy Bay IPA was delish! They have typical and not so typical bar food to offer. Think veggie wraps, sliders, Ruben egg rolls, pretzels, fish and chips. Lots of regular and fried food that goes perfectly with an ice cold beer. Check them out - I'm a fan!

Are you kidding me?! What's wrong with you people?! Are ye not Colorado Avalanche fans?! Are ye not looking for a sports bar much different than the norm?! Are ye not looking for a place where everyone knows your name?! I'm giving Bender's Bar & Grill a coveted 5-Star rating because this awesome tiny little hockey bar that could deserves it, and here's why: It's Avalanche Playoff season. Our team hasn't been this exciting since the last Stanley Cup was brought home to us. We have an 18 year old rookie that will go down in infamy as one of Colorado's best athletes. And we have Patrick back. So, Roy Not Us?! And why not Bender's?! Here at Bender's, you can get your seasonal fix of NHL Hockey, all the while watching recreational league hockey being played on real ice in the adjoining Westminster Ice Centre. This is a avid hockey fan's iced dream! But that's not all... Bender's has a killer beer selection, and the food is the BEST sports bar food I've ever had. Hands down! Awesome pizza. Great wings. Irish Nachos are incredible. And the burgers come on homemade bulkie rolls. If you don't know what a bulkie roll is, look it up. It makes the difference between and good burger and a great burger. But that's not all... This crew of servers, bartenders, and others run the place like they're inviting family over to watch the game. They do - in fact - make it a point to know EVERYONE's name, and as a first-timer, I like that approach! Christen the bartender is a friendly little firecracker, and she runs the bar like it's her own personal business. She's great at her job, and she loves what she does. And it's passed down to great service among the rest of the team, and I hope she is rewarded by her servers with some amazing tips. I just moved to Westminster, and I was looking for a home sports bar. This is it! This is the place! And I couldn't be happier about taking in the Avalanche's road to their next Stanley Cup here... Hockey, Baseball, Football or whatever. I'll be back here often because it feels like a good vibe without trying too hard. Go Colorado! Go! To Bender's Bar & Grill... I'll see you at the next game.

One of my biggest pet peeves eating out is when you order a substitution and they don't tell you there is an up charge. Had a buffalo chicken wrap, which was good, but subbed broccoli for the fries. I was surprised when I received my bill and found a $2 up charge. First of all, I wasn't informed of this and second, $2 for a half cup of broccoli? You can buy a whole head for about that much. Either way, one needs to know ahead of time to make an informed decision.

Walked in without being acknowledged, greeted, offered menus, or even noticed. Sat there for 20 minutes like that then walked out. Very unprofessional and disrespectful. Lost my business..jimmy it was December 12th at around 7 pm. Thank you for your response, I was bummed!

Benders hosted my wife's 40th birthday party with over 50 guests and their regular trivia crowd. They were AMAZING! The service was fast...the drinks were great...food was excellent and it was all pretty reasonably priced. Thank you Benders!

Food is average at best, service is hit or miss but generally below average. It is not uncommon for them to be out of a beer or a bunch of beers. Its to bad because I like the location but for the most part, I would advise to stay away.

Everytime I go there (which is not often) I wait an hour for my food and the wait staff always says there is only one cook. I guess things don't change.

I am so excited that I get to change my review! I love Benders, the food is so amazing, the salads they make are insane! Love the atmosphere, the location, the hockey and am happy to say that the staff has really picked it up, no complaints here! Great job!!!! YUMMY!
