The service, views and knowledge of the menu was incredible! The waiter was great and knew everything about the menu and had great recommendations. Make sure you make a reservation otherwise it's hard to get a table. I would recommend the truffle fries as an appetizer - delicious!

Request a window seat with the view of Telluride. Go early or late, but get the view. It is amazing. The food and service are excellent. Portions are large (too large for us and wishing we skipped the crudités appetizer, which was huge). If you can't get a table at the window, honestly, I would skip Allred's. There are other excellent restaurants in Telluride and Mountain Village in the same price/quality range.

Take the gondala up from town, just remember how you got up there, and which gondala to go back. The food is as good as the view, service is excellent.

Ride the Gondola. Enjoy the view. Go to Allreds. Get a drink. Enjoy more view. So this is a members only club during most of its hours except for après time. Although, they did let us in for lunch since it was slow that day. The bartenders there are funny and friendly. And the truffle fries come in heaping piles. A must hit place for those visiting telluride.

Maybe the best apres-ski ever?? I stopped here during the busiest week of the year (between Christmas and NY), for cocktails and munchies and it did not disappoint! Allred's has a beautiful dining room overlooking a breathtaking view of Telluride, plus a great bar area. Given the busy day we talked the staff into allowing us to have our apres-ski fun in the dining room so we could sit. We enjoyed a beautiful pinot noir, truffled fries and their nut trio while gazing at the spectacular view. Service was excellent. The only disappointment was that I wasn't staying for dinner and couldn't sit there past 4:30 (they needed the dining room for dinner). But I'm so happy they allowed us to hang out there to begin with, so I can't actually complain. This is a can't miss destination for cocktails after skiing if you don't mind spending a few bucks. They have a great area to hold boots and coats, and have lendable slippers to keep your feet warm! Seriously!!

This place is right on top of a gondala station and has some fantastic views of the mountains. We went sorta late like 8:30 without a reservation but they were able to seat us within 15 minutes which was nice. They have a full bar, a piano player playing old rock hits, and a nicely decorated dining room that has a rustic feeling with views of the mountain. This was by far the best restaurant we tried in Telluride. Some of the plates are big enough to share for 2 while others you may just want your own. I shared a steak and it was big enough and tried some of their pork chop, both were great. The service was great, both the hostess and waitress were quick. Their creme brulee was fantastic as well. If your in the area this place is great place to have dinner.

It was our last nite in Telluride and we were able to secure a reservation at the top of the gondola at Allred's. A dream way up there We enjoyed a glass of Argentine wine and a beer Our appetizers were a delightful corn soup with lump crab. So sweet and creamy without the cream to make it heavy. I ordered fried green tomatoes served with heirloom tomatoes and arugula. The sweetness of the tomato plus the crispness on the green tomatoes were delicious. Our main entrees we a thick Berkshire pork chop with blackened shrimp. Delicious but the blackened shrimp was mighty spicy which took me by surprise. Lots of water!!! I tried the veal scallipini, lightly crusted in a lovely lemon sauce served on top with arugula and cherry tomatoes (I thought the arugula and tomatoes were more of a filler to give the plate color and frankly not necessary.) They probably should have served it with a green vegetable and a small potatoe type of side this way the veal was the dominant feature. The veal was tender and there were two large pieces I forced myself to finish it. It was tasty The service was impeccable and the wine sommelier was friendly knowledge and very approachable not pretentious at all. We are about to travel to Argentina and she recommended some vineyards to visit while there. Frankly it is a 5 star place but the total bill was less than we expected. Certainly not inexpensive for the quality and service. We would love to go again

Nice view! The gondola ride at no cost as a bonus. The Mint Julip was right on and the elk was perfectly prepared as ordered. A must go when you visit Telluride.

This was our first trip to Telluride and our first dinner out... the pace was certainly set! The restaurant sits atop the gondola track and overlooks all of downtown Telluride. We were seated along the window with what should have been a view second to none, but unfortunately it was overcast. We ordered an excellent bottle of wine to start, with the help of the sommolier. We started with the potato croutons on the advice of just about every staff member from the entry to our table, and they did not disappoint. I had a beet salad which was extraordinary and I was at odds as to whether or not to share with the table to give them an opportunity to experience greatness, versus keeping it all for myself. I caved and gave them a bite. For an entree, I tried elk for the first time. It was incredible! The chef recommended med-rare, and delivered 100%. The elk was tender and its inherent flavor showcased rather than hidden amongst the cowardly oversauced strategies of many who serve less than the best. It's worth mentioning that we had placed our order just a moment after a large party had ordered their food, and as a result, we stood to be slightly delayed in receiving our entrees. Our server was very proactive in recognizing and addressing this, and had a round of lobster bisque sent to our table after explaining the situation. We couldn't have appreciated the communication and the gesture more. When is the last time you had this happen? Even though it's tough to go anywhere in the last 5 years without finding truffle oil dumped over something on the menu, I recommend the truffle fries at Allred's because they do them right, and boy were they tasty! The truly phenomenal thing about walking out of such a wonderful experience at Allred's is that you just hop on the gondola and take a short ride either home or back to the center of town. Great restaurant, great food. I'll be back.

If you're looking for an amazing view of Telluride, look no further. Allred's has the most spectacular view, and taking the gondola to get there was is much fun. I had the Malbec, which was superb, and everyone else in our party enjoyed their drinks as well. Would definitely go back and have dinner.

What a beautiful place! Yesterday we went and had a drink at the bar with its amazing view! Today we had dinner at the restaurant. We got a table by the window overlooking the town and its was full moon today and clear sight just amazing! The dinner was excellent! I had their beet salad so good and my husband did the carpaccio which he loved! The bread is fresh and warm! We shared the elk and we both loved it! The service was really good and seamless! It is a wonderful restaurants and one of my favourites in telluride.

Not going to Allred's when you're in Telluride is like not taking a picture of you "holding up" the Leaning Tower of Pisa when in Pisa. Like not flashing the automatic camera shot while riding down Splash Mtn at Disneyland. Like . . . well, you get the idea. Why people don't take the free gondola ride 1/2 way up the mountain from town and grab a drink and maybe a snack at Allred's when in Telluride is truly a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma. Are ya following me here? Bottom line: Spend the money and go. It's a view worth way more than the $30 you're gonna spend for a couple of jalapeno peach margaritas (one of their specialty cocktails). (But tell 'em to not rim the lip of the glass with their signature cayenne pepper crust. Ouch, that burns!) As for their food . . . who knows? I've only taken my honey up for the drink with the view and a small plate or two. (Really like the shrimp and calamari bar appy, but their portions are not what you'd call "generous.") Nonetheless, I hear that the food's down right delish in the dining room.

Love this place. This is a Must visit when in Telluride. Great views, great food, great booze. What's not to like? Make sure you make a reservation in advance cause this place can get packed. The bar has the same menu just in case though with amazing views as well.

I was completely unimpressed. Overpriced and underwhelmed. We easily spent $400 on a meal that was what I'd say was bland putting it nicely. Service was lacking - never received our after dinner drinks despite being charged - had to ask them to remove the $22 for that. The piano playing was also HORRENDOUS. I'd rather listen to noisy dining than the missed notes, sped up tempos, and all around awful music selection. Completely dissatisfied.

Pros: 1. The view 2. The cocktails (many of which are creative yet simple, such as the "Whiskey and Ice" made of Knob Creek and a large orange ice cube) 3. Food quality (the cod I ordered last night was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection) 4. The atmosphere Cons: 1. Price (then again, what do you expect for a bar located above 10,000 feet at one of the greatest ski resorts in the world)

I have not been treated this poorly in such a nice restaurant in a while. My 15 year old very polite son said "excuse me" to our waiter passing by who replied with a rude "JUST A MOMENT." and kept walking. He was likewise very curt with the rest of us and when my daughter asked if they could substitute Romaine for spinach in a salad he said that he would check to see if the kitchen would throw a knife at him when he asked, then returned to our table and told her that no they would not. We had the earliest seating (5:45) and the restaurant, which is known for its views out the window, seated us by the bus table near the kitchen although the restaurant was half empty. The food was very good as it should have been for the price level but the experience was very disappointing. We come to Telluride multiple times a year and it will be a long time before we go to Allreds again. Very disappointed.

Outstanding restaurant. No, it's not Chez Vrony of Swiss fame. But for an American mountain restaurant it is spectacular. The views are indescribable. Allred's is a part of an exclusive private club but is open to the public for dinner and on a limited basis, for lunch. Entering the facility from the gondola via a private elevator, guests trade their ski boots for slippers on a stone-lined lobby before arriving at the Maitre D' station and being promptly ushered into an open-space restaurant with gigantic plate glass windows offering breathtaking views of the snowy mountains as well as vertigo-like views of the town of Telluride literally 1,500 feet below your feet. The views alone are reason to dine here. A salad bar and a full liquor bar line the inside walls. Our service this time was absolutely flawless and the selections were both tasty and succulent. Allred's has an immense wine cellar with top-notch wines. As to the food selections, their elk medallions plate is amazing. Superb dining experience that made our Telluride visit even more memorable.

This may be our new favorite restaurant in Telluride, its up there with the top 5 restaurants! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because the tall bartender was rude and took a chair away from me which he said he would return and never returned leaving a few of us standing but we didn't let that get in the way of the amazing views and delicious food. The kids loved the wax strings to make little figures, it kept them occupied. Our waiter was awesome--he had longer blonde hair pulled back in a ponytail. We ordered the fish which came in a wine butter sauce and the veal scallopine. Both were amazing. My Caesar salad was also very good. The wine menu was also very good. Overall a fun afternoon/evening watching the sun go down in amazing Telluride. We will be back!

Allreds is definitely worth going to while in Telluride. First off the views are fabulous. I've been coming to Allred's off and on for ten years and I can say that the food is usually almost always a match for the view. This time I had the Colorado rack of lamb. These particular rib chops were a good size and expertly prepared. Even good restaurants often mess up the lamb chop by not trimming the two major deposits of fat but they didn't mess it up. When the food arrives you can literally see the amount of thought put into this dish. And then the flavor doesn't disappoint either. The rest of the food we ordered was equally impressive. They made one mistake by mispouring a wine I ordered but were quick to correct it. The occasional misstep aside, this is an above average place with above average food and views.

Amazing atmosphere, phenomenal service from a truly professional server. Fantastic variety and flavor to the food and a truly volumous wine list presented by a Sommelier with a truly impressive knowledge. A truly great dining experience.

Amazing View. This place was pretty beautiful, but I didn't have the awe inspiring experience I was hoping for and others raved about. The drinks were good but the atmosphere was a bit dead.

Came for the lunch buffet today. At $19 per person it's a pretty good deal. They had two types of salads and soups, some cold cuts and cheeses (make your own sandwich bar), pasta, lasagna, meatballs, and a dessert station. The food wasnt mind blowing but it was great for the value. Also the view is amazing!!!

I have never been to Telluride but on a whim we decided to host our fall wedding there. I contacted many restaurants in town before I reached out to Allred's- but once I spoke to Nicole I knew Allred's was the place for us. Our initial conversation was well over 30 minutes- she gave me all the details about the town, the restaurant, food, private dining room, how to get there, etc. She worked with me on the reservation pricing to remain within our budget- and she even sent me pictures so I could get a better sense of the room/layout. Nicole has been incredibly responsive for the last 6 months as we have been nailing down our final menu selection as well as the room layout/design. Once we got into town, they allowed us to store some items there a few days prior to the wedding. On the day of, Nicole opened the restaurant for us 5 hours prior to their official open time so that our vendors could get in and set up. The room turned out beautifully and our guests were incredibly impressed with the food. The service was fantastic and what really won us over was how amazing Nicole had been to work with. She went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure we had an amazing event and that everything was taken care of. We couldn't have asked for a better setting for our intimate wedding dinner- it really was a perfect evening. We cannot wait to come back and visit Allred's again!

The views were amazing and the Burger and Truffle Fries were some of the best comfort food I have had all year. Overall a little pricey but well worth it. Its like the John Hancock building of Telluride, CO.

We didn't have a res and they sat us right away. I wanted a different table and they accommodated us. I had a lobster bisque and a beet salat and both were amazing. The service was absolutely incredible too. My fav!!

What an atmosphere, a gondola ride and amazing views of telluride! Beautiful, cozy, mountain atmosphere. Delicious food and great service. The potato croutons with truffle sauce started our meal off on the right foot. Then pork chop and beef tenderloin were amazing and cooked perfectly. A great place to celebrate my birthday, hope we can make it a tradition!

Allred's was a great destination restaurant to celebrate our mountain engagement in Telluride. The views are spectacular! We mentioned our recent engagement and were given some of the best seats in the house and a complimentary champagne toast. The food is upscale comfort surf and turf fare, but everything was delicious if a bit rich. The service was friendly and prompt. I loved how the restaurant was the halfway point between the town of Telluride and Mountain Village. While the restaurant is pricey, its a great spot for a celebration dinner with delicious cocktails, live music, and breathtaking views.

I cannot say enough about Mario and his staff. While the view is spectacular, the staff was extremely attentive and the food was delicious. There were 6 of us in our party and we had the lamb, chicken, tuna, pork chop and steak and every one of us enjoyed our meals. The desserts, especially the apple tart and crème brulee were delicious. Thank you, Mario and his wonderful staff for making this a restaurant that will definitely become a must on our next visits.

Thans for a great experience One downer - mojito in the bar was 17$ with tip....ouch But overall great place

Went here for my 10th wedding anniversary. I saw the descriptions of high class dining with majestic views of Telluride and thought this would be the perfect place. I made reservations 3 months in advance and made sure to tell them about the occasion. After eating at Allred's I can easily say they offer the most stunning and romantic views of aspen trunks I've ever seen. I'm sure the city lights and mountain tops on the other side of those trunks are beautiful too but I'm just speculating. I'm sorry for being snide, but I went to Allred's for the view and the view did not meet expectations. My wife and I walked into a nearly empty restaurant and were shown to a table with a view obstructed by aspen trees growing just outside the window. I politely asked for the table two down from ours as it's view was not blocked but we were told it was reserved for someone else. We spent $300 on our meal. It is the most expensive dinner for two I've ever had. I think Allred's was nice enough to give us a dessert for free (in honor of our special occasion) but I don't really remember--after $300 you stop looking at the details. I thought it was pretty obnoxious that there were so few options for wine less than 3 figures (for a bottle). Allred's isn't all bad--food was really good but not the best I've ever had. In fact, now, a few weeks later, I am not sure what I had to eat (I didn't have too much to drink, it just wasn't that memorable). service was fantastic, very professional. I liked the ambience too.

Lunch in the bar on a nice day! You can not beat this. Great food, excellent staff, oh and of course the view. It's halfway on the gondola, so give a little extra time to get there and thank me later. Amazing.

What a fantastic mountain top treasure! Allred's is located at the top of the Gondola and the views are breathtaking. We went up the free Gondola at 4pm and went to the bar which opens at 3. We were lucky to snag a table at the window to watch the sunset Alpine glow and the lights of Telluride turn on. The bar serves Happy Hour all night! A good selection of beer and wine and Happy Hour specials make the bar a super affordable treat to end your day. We had the chili and the lobster soup. The chili was thick and delicious. The lobster bisque had really good flavor but it did not have any lumps of lobster meat. Our server Ahra did a great job of taking care of a bar full of thirsty patrons and Mario the GM was ever present and helpful to all of the staff. Highly recommend.

First of all you start with a review of the view - spectacular! If you go for just the view you will be happy. You will need reservations at this restaurant. The meals were great. Pretty expensive but excellent. They also served a great variety of breads and their deserts were great. You can take the gondola which runs free until 2:00 am from the city of Telluride up to the restaurant, or from the mountain top village down. Either way it is a fun way to see the beauty of Telluride and get to this great restaurant.

Allred's sits at the St Sophia gondola station. This aerie has one of the best views of the town of Telluride as well as the canyon walls. We came at sunset to see the clouds break and the gold light compete with dark rain. It was spectacular. We had the burger special along with French marttinis. Yes, life is good.

Come for the views - stay for the cocktails. If you're looking for a somewhat less expensive visit to Allred's, visit the bar right when they open at 5pm to be sure you can get a table by the window. Those tables offer breathtaking views down the mountain of the town of Telluride below. If you like Manhattan's - they make a great one using Knob Creek Rye. Make sure to request the Knob Creek Rye though - as that is not their standard whiskey. The double espresso martini will give you an excellent pick you up if you're dragging. I don't even like coffee, but it's excellent with the cream and vodka! Along the old school route of cocktails, don't miss the Sazerac - strong & well balanced and served with ice on the side. Cocktail prices range from $12 and up and you can also enjoy appetizers in the bar which is probably wise if you're going to be drinking their cocktails. I can't comment on dinner - since obviously our goal was to drink and enjoy the views :)

It takes a certain 'touch' to pull off an elegant and exclsive atmosphere without coming off as being a bit stuffy or pompous and Allred's manages to do just that. You enter Allred's by getting of the gondola and taking the elevator up a flight. The elevator opens into the restaurant and you are immediately struck by the richness of the place. There is a changing room where you can hang up your ski jackets, googles, etc. and even very posh complimentary slippers for you to wear in lieu of your ski boots. It's these little touches that sets Allred's apart from other restaurants. Ther is of course the view. Spectacular. My friends and I went there for their $10 house wine and appetizer combo. The appetizer choices were mozz w pesto, cracked raw almond with pumpkin seeds, olives, hummus with lavash . . . we ordered one of each and they were all delicious and nicely flavoured. With the expectation that Allred's would have exceptional service, I was not disappointed. Even though there was only one waitress working the whole bar area, she was excellent and quick to observe the needs of the customers. I watched her serving all the costumers in the bar area before the costumers asked for anything. It was truly excellent costumer service Good company with friends, gorgeous view, a glass of wine, delicious app, the most excellent service to end my ski day . . . can my life be any more perfect?!

I stopped in Allred's while on a cross-country motorcycle trip. You take a gondola to the top of the mountain and the restaurant is at the top. The view is unreal! I ordered the ribeye steak which was incredible. Ordering temperatures of steaks is tricky. Most cooks do not know how to do a true medium. This place does for sure. I count this as one of the best steaks I've every had. It was also one of the most expensive, but I do not mind paying if the food is up to par. This surpasses par by long mile. I washed it down with a few cold Stella beers. The bartender gave me a fresh glass everyt time. Truly pro. Great service and super friendly smiling people. A must visit if in Telluride! Check out my blog "Tales of a Flying Brick" for more details...

Allred's is always the farewell stop on our visit to Telluride! Such a beautiful view. This years visit was somewhat spoiled by an odd server, but the food did not fail. The duck was succulent and superb, and the truffled french fries are without question a highlight of each dining experience!

There's not much to say about Allred's that hasn't been said already. We were lucky enough to nab a corner window table for two where we felt on top of the world. The surrounding mountains at dusk, as well as a view straight down the mountain overlooking the town of Telluride was just incredible. We wanted only a very light dinner, but the staff was very accomodating to two girls who wanted to nosh on appetizers, sip a cocktail and, naturally, share a dessert. The piano player in the bar was just the right touch, then a quick gondola ride back home. One of the best in Telluride.

Allred's has amazing views. It's right at the top of the St Sophia gondola station. Super convenient. And, how cool is it to take a gondola to dinner! We had appetizers in the bar vs a full blown dinner. We tried the muscles, and meatball sliders. Anyone who knows me knows I love meatballs and these did the trick. Yum!

Can't beat this place for a drink at night. Prices are huge but it is located at the top of a gondola in Telluride, align your expectations and enjoy!

To enjoy the view arrive early as we had 8pm reservations and it was dark but cozy atmosphere with a live pianist. We went on a Monday night and the ambiance is very nice. We were a group of ten and we were seated promptly and service was amazing. We started with truffle deviled eggs , marinated olives, porcini mushrooms and lobster bisque. All appetizers were amazing and we would recomend them all again. We ordered Bourbon Elk, Veal Raviolis, Salmon were all amazing. The truffle fries were out of this world. The duck, ribeye and beef tenderloin were average. Blackberry bourbon is a must to order!!!

Phenomenal view. Wonderful ambiance. Beautiful presentation of food...taste of food? Average. Great for impressing your guests with the setting, or simply a romantic evening with your hunny.... Or follow in my lead and enjoy one of many wonderful evenings over a fillet Mignon, a glass of wine, and another great memory with your mama! Perfect mother daughter rendezvous!

Best view! Classy yet relaxed environment. We had cocktails and a two course meal. For the location and type of restaurant, I thought it was going to cost a lot more. My husband and I both agreed the meal was good at a fair price.

Attentive service even with a party of 42 women pretty much taking over the dining room. All entrees were yummy. Views of ski slopes and town are memorable. Nighttime gondola ride is like floating in space.

Ok so we made 3 trips here in 2 days. First was for dinner which I thought was absolutely the best meal the four of us have had anyplace. The preparation of lamb chops, pork chop, salmon and filet were all outstanding. The cream brûlée and flower less chocolate cake followed suite and we washed it all down with a flatlined martini. We went back the next day for lunch. First you could take the ski boots off and put on some comfy house slippers for the meal . We had a lunch Buffett for$18 which was well worth it, fabulous entrees, turkey and mashed potatoes, cheese lasagna, rare roast beef cold cuts and also chili and great deserts of fresh fruit, pie, cookies. Also had a grilled cheese with tomato soup, truffle fries and grilled chicken club. All wonderful. Went back to the bar last night just for a Flatliner martini. It is coffee, baileys ,Kailua combo that will light you up.

I was with a group visiting Mountain Village and we stopped in off the gondola and had a few fine drinks and an appetizer of cheese and prosciutto. There are a lot of nice places to go in Telluride, but none of them take advantage of the beautiful mountain landscape scenery like this place. p.s. This place provides the most posh and private experience in a public bathroom I've ever had.

  • Dave M.

Poor service in bar. Sat for 10 minutes at dirty table without any acknowledgement and they weren't even busy. Drinks small and overpriced--12 bucks for half filled martini glass Margarita. Tasted good though! Server failed to bring menus as promised. Then failed to bring waters as promised. Took forever for drinks to arrive for both rounds. Food was just good. The "large" crab cake was the size of a silver dollar and tasted okay---17 bucks---yikes. Gnocchi was salty. Soup bland. Caesar was smothered in dressing and the "potato croutons" were just deep fried potatoes- my 8 yo woulda liked em. Bread boring. View was nice! So many other great places in Telluride.

I love this place for happy hour. The best view in Telluride that time of day, and the food and drinks are top notch. Pricey? Sure, but you're in Telluride at 11000 ft above sea level, think of it as an up charge for elevation.

Full disclosure - this review might be skewed by the fact that I've had four glasses of wine prior to writing it. (See review for San Sophia B&B.) My husband and I went to Allred's last night for our first anniversary and it was delicious! He had the lamb (melt in your mouth - so good!) and I had the New York strip steak (YUM!) We shared a half-bottle of wine and a three-scoop ice cream dessert that was really good (mint chocolate chip, peach Melba and macadamia nut honey anyone?) Beyond the amazing food - the views at Allred's cannot be beat. We watched the amazing landscape surrounding Telluride change from green to purple as the sun set - and then watched the lights in the town start to twinkle as night set in. Allred's definitely has a romantic setting, and the gondola servicing the location is free until midnight! Relish the free gondola, as you'll drop a pretty penny at Allred's, but it was worth the splurge for a special night out. Enjoy!

I love food. Great food and good service are important when I dine at a restaurant. The reason I rate Allred's a "2.5" is the price. Are you paying for the beautiful ambiance, the food or the view? We have eaten here twice and the wait service was always good. The kitchen handles large tables, and crowds, with ease. They seated us at a window and the view was super duper. I just think that there are so many terrific places to eat in the town of Telluride where you get better food for the price. I had the roasted Colorado chicken and it done perfectly. I was under-whelmed by the balance of the dish. For a chicken entree to be priced at $40, I want it to have something a little more than just the same old savory and salty theme.

Amazing view! Great ceaser salad, corn chowder and desserts. Entrees (chicken and salmon) had no flavor and are highly priced. For higher end prices, most tables were filled with families with young children. The bar area was of people enjoying appetizers and the view - what I'd recommend to others versus the high priced entrees. Service was good - very nice staff.

Worth the free gondola trip up to the top of the mountain. The bar has a few high tops with amazing views and the beer is reasonably priced, though the wine by glass selections aren't great for the high prices charged.

What a fantastic venue!! You have to go there if you're in Telluride. The view is amazing. We took the gondola up on Saturday night and had a couple drinks and mussels in the bar. It is a fantastic deal. They have a great bar menu and it's happy hour all night. Wine is $7, mixed drinks $6, and beers are $5- I think. The mussels were great (chorizo, crawfish, yummy broth) and only $10. The bar menu is actually pretty extensive and very reasonable for such a pricy restaurant. The bartender was a little scattered (we had to remind her to bring our bread a couple times) but truly nice. In fact, I asked her what was in a chocolate cake shot and she told me and then said, "We're going to do one!" and she made one for us and then for herself and another bartender. Yum! We had a great time up there. Also, the manager came by and introduced himself- a really nice touch, I thought. You can tell they are dedicated to a wonderful dining experience. I'd definitely return.

First, the positives: Obviously the view is amazing, you are at the top of a mountain surrounded by mountains and the sunset leaves an alpenglow on the mountaintops. It is worth it just to go and have a drink at the bar and stare out the windows. Speaking of which, during happy hour, which is basically all the time there (starting at 5pm) you can get a small app and a drink for $10 or you can get a selection of larger apps for $10 each and pay for a better drink. Good deal. For the full dinner, this place is really expensive but the food is very good. My wife and i both got the filet mignon $35 to $40 depending on size and they were very good. Just like any steak house, they have a la carte sides for $8. We had a cheese plate (expensive at $24), split a tomato mozz salad, and were comped a dessert since it was my wifes birthday. All around it was a great meal. By the way, the wine list is awesome. Roar Pinot Noir for $90 is a great deal and we had a bottle of Shafer Hillside Select for $310 which is less than 1.5 times retail for a Robert Parker rated 97 point wine! Now the negatives, worth minus one star: Sauces. You want a sauce with your $40 steak, that will be $4... Just cut it out with the nickle and diming. And they give you a carafe of sauce for the $4. If they were to just drizzle a little sauce on the dish i am sure they could find a way to make this free. Steak was not cooked to order. Now in all fairness the waitress did ask if they were done to out liking, but what am i going to do, send back a $40 steak? I ordered mine medium and it was well ans my wife ordered med rare and it was medium. Not really the end of the world. Price. This place is expensive. If you want to check out the ambiance but not get hurt in the wallet just get something at the bar. Otherwise there is no way to get out of this place for less than $100 pp. We spent $600 on our special meal although half was wine. Oh, and make a reservation and ask for a window seat!

I would have only awarded Allred's 3 stars, but the view kicked it up a notch to 4. I'd go back simply to have a drink at the bar and look out the floor-to-ceiling windows. First off, Allred's is extremely easy to get to. Telluride's gondola system is genius and its halfway point from town to resort is on top of the mountain, where Allred's sits. The food was eh-okay. We had the lobster fritters and the sashimi to start, and I was severely disappointed with the lobster fritters. For my main course, I chose the Maine Sea Scallops; they were good but nothing spectacular...I think the scallops might have been a little overcooked. The dessert was excellent, but I only had one bite. Some sort of chocolate lava creation...it was the best part of the meal. Our server was good, but again...nothing too swoon over. The view though - OH MAN - that view. It was so magnificent, I wanted to stay up there all night and drink myself into oblivion. My recommendations - go, hit up the bar and maybe an appetizer, and enjoy the view of Telluride.

Best feature of restaurant, the view and the fact you have to take a gondola to the restaurant. Typical steak/seafood fare. Overall I have no problems with food, the service and prices for this kind of place was what I expected. I did think it was funny that the waitress went on about the great pastry chef, but most of the desert menu was sorbets, ice cream and mousse which didn't wow me.

The views are amazing & the primary reason that Allred's should be visited! We visited for the après ski; it's reasonably priced but get there early to duke it out for a great table. The food was just ok but with their views, grab a beer & you'll still enjoy the food. ;)

A first class restaurant. Very well run. Food is excellent. Service is knowledgeable and friendly. The views are spectacular to top it off. This is not a tourist trap. If you visit Telluride and don't make this one of your dining choices your visit is not complete.

Yum yum truffle fries. The grilled cheese was expensive but so, so good. The people in Telluride know their bread, that's for sure! I bet they got their bread from Cindy Bread, the best bread makers in town.

Allred's is gorgeous inside and the service is wonderful. The food is great but the atmosphere and the location make this restaurant amazing!

We hosted our wedding at Allreds, and everything was perfect. What better endorsement can I offer than that? We were delighted that our guests (from all of the country) noted that our wedding as the best they have ever experienced. We know that a big part of that was the experience we had, hosting our reception at Allred's. The view added a spectacular element to five star service and cuisine. Wedding food does not taste like this! They were very selective with the menu offered, so to guarantee that our 90 meals would come out of the kitchen in rather a short period of time, tasting superb. Carrie and her team were exceptional. I opted out of hiring a wedding planner (even though I am located out of Chicago) and the staff's organization, level of detail, and passion for hospitality made the process possible. Once we walked through Allred's doors, I had not a care in the world- Carrie and team anticipated every need of my guests before they did! Waiter service at the tables, was a touch that absolutely delighted our guests! I could go on and on about how wonderful the food was, but anyone considering holding their wedding in Telluride will need to stop by Allreds for dinner while in town anyhow (it's a must) and see for yourself. The Salmon (from Mountain Valley Fish and Oyster) was cooked perfectly. Several guests noted that the fillet was one of the best cuts of beef they've ever tasted. Our vegetarian guests were touched that they each were able to custom-order their meals. All in all, a perfect (I still can't believe its true) wedding experience. I'd do it all again in a heart beat.

As of the summer of 2009, this restaurant apparently has a new exec chef. The menu changed from what is in the 2009 Telluride Dining Guide to what is basically steakhouse-style a la carte meats and sides. The only strength Allreds has now is the ambiance. A beautiful view, accessible only by gondola, and nice clean lodge architecture throughout. As for everything else, Allreds falls completely flat. I would call the food diner quality, but that would be an insult to decent greasy spoons everywhere. The steak was terrible--maybe 4oz of meat in a gristly, overseasoned 16oz cut. Every dish we had was soggy and unappetizing. The apple crisp desert might as well have come out of a can. Our server was not unpleasant but seemed constantly rushed and never checked in on our food--it fell to the busboy to notice that we'd taken no more than a few bites of our entrees and ask if everything was ok. If you feel like you have to come here, do it for a glass of wine at the bar. Otherwise, your money would be better spent by throwing it out of the gondola on the way back down.

We went to Allred's to celebrate my sister's birthday and we had an amazing all-around expereince. The atmosphere and staff were excellent. The meat eaters loved their dishes and my vegetarian platter was out of this world! It is so rare that a steak house does anything beyond standard pasta- and this carefull attention given to the vegetarian clientele made me obe happy veggie!

The people are nice. Too much so. They stand around the table yapping without picking up the dishes that should be cleared. The salmon was well under-done, not good. Everything else was fair. Nothing special. I'm sure the view is nice. We ate after the sun went down.

Gorgeous! Secret: make a reservation at 5:30 not 7:00 on a clear night - cause If you cant sit by the window and gawk over that amazing panorama - you may think more about the food. Although, there are no major complaints about what we ate - it is not special - just typical Colorado fare for BIG prices. The staff made the eventing great - and we would love to go back and have a prescription joint to take all the pain of skiing away! A must if you are on vacation - and make a reservation. Great for apres-ski if you can get a table!

I was not as enthusiastic about this place as others....first of all, there was a strange odor upon entering...a musty, stale smell. Then the menu did not offer fresh trout, and we're here in Colorado! I ordered the special fish dish, but am quite certain it was not fresh...it was dry and lacked flavor. Then one of our party ordered a piece of rhubarb-strawberry pie, but instead was served apple pie.

Awesome food. The ribeye was nothing special but it was very good. The elk though... freakin' great. The atmosphere was great as was the service (then again we were the only people there). Get a seat by the window. 1/2 bottles of wine are a little bit of a rip off (then again it IS wine at a restaurant).

Went there on a quiet night and was seated at a small table despite the fact that many larger and better tables were available. The food and service were excellent and the prices were NY Style - $165.00 for 2 people including tip, 1 dessert and one glass of wine. Great for special occasions!

This review is only describing my experience at the bar this past weekend. I did not dine in the restaurant and my review does not reflect the dining experience. Took the gondola up to Allred's for a drink at the bar on our last night in Telluride. Arrived around 6:30pm and was greeted by one of the hostesses. Went into the bar, which was about half full, and took a seat at a 2-top. Immediately noticed the place was an absolute mess. Trash on the floor, un-bussed tables, and chairs placed haphazardly around the bar. Even though there was plenty of staff (3-4 wait staff dedicated just to the bar crowd, 2 bartenders and what appeared to be at least 3 hostesses) no one came up to our table for about 10 minutes. Finally we flagged down a waitress and asked if we were supposed to go up to the bar and order ourselves. She replied no, that a server would be with us; then she said, "Well, unless you know what you want now and I'll just take your order". We asked for a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and a Cosmopolitan. I was asked what kind of vodka and replied that it didn't matter. A few minutes elapsed and another waitress came up out of the blue and asked what kind of vodka I wanted. So obviously the first waitress didn't take our order she merely told another waitress to do it. Our drinks arrived about 10 minutes after that. Drinks were a total of $25; I don't mind paying high prices if it's worth it...especially with a view like that but to receive such poor service is not right. Other observations...another couple ordered appetizers, they were delivered and they asked for plates, napkins and flatware. Those were delivered about 10 minutes after the request. A group of apre skiers left a large table leaving beer, martini and shot glasses at the table. Another large group came in and had to bus the table themselves before they could sit down. No one came over to help. A family of 4 finished dinner at a table in the bar, received their check, paid and left. A waitress came up to the table, grabbed the credit card receipt to look at the tip and walked away. Leaving all dirty plates, glasses, etc. on the table never to be cleared in the 45 minutes we were there. There was not a shortage of staff at all but they seemed more interested in congregating at the bar to chat with each other than to look up and notice the place was in complete disrepair and their guests were completely unhappy. It's a shame that a place with such a gorgeous view and huge potential doesn't seem to care much about the customer service experience.

I'm giving them 3 stars cause the service and the menu prices have improved. Before it was way way overpriced, like one of those restaurants that you feel guilty for spending your money, rather than those where you want to toss your money to support them. The general manager greeted us and the service was stellar. The place had much better ambiance and music. The white linens and feeling that you can only whisper are both but a distant memory now. There is still much improvement to be had but definitely on the right track. Their apps menu is great! Smoked salmon and avocado, tomato and mozzarella salad, mussels, even the bread. The burger is great. Mind you, it's giant and they should put that on their menu cause for $14.00 you get a huge burger with Vermont cheddar and thick sliced bacon and fries however you like 'em. The staff and GM are working hard to earn people back. Let's give them a shot and don't forget you vote with your dollars. I do think it would be helpful if they did come around and ask about your food. I mean, they of course do that as part of any wait person's script but since they're trying to change the formality and bring people in, they might want some key peeps to chime in on how it's going.

We went to Allred's in the third week of August. We sat in the bar area to order burgers for three of us. They brought out two burgers. It was unbelievable to us that they saw three of us sitting there and brought two burgers...our entrees. So we finally flagged down our waitress and told her that they forgot one of our burgers. She looked at our table, kind of not getting it or thinking we stuck one in our lap, I am nor sure. So she apologized and went to see what happened. 20 minutes pass, no burger, no waitress. By now, we had eaten the burgers we got and the other person in our party was just SITTING there, the rest of us finished. We finally flagged her down AGAIN, and she went to check and informed us at THIS POINT, that the order was never put in...so she order it then. Because of the location of this restaurant we couldnt run out and get food any faster for our starving friend but at the end, they charged us full fare and never apologized. If this is not sucky service, I don't know what is.

A chairlift ride from our hotel on the moutain peak it was a wonderful place to have dinner. This was the only place offering dinner at the resort town when we went there. Arrived late just as the sun was setting but was able to enjoy the views for a while. We had salads which were nice and the lamb chops along with the Elk chops. Lamb chop were OK the elk chop had too much salt. Service was great but food was OK.
