Yes, yes, all the good things they say about the food are true. Maybe not the hash browns though. They were bulky, flaccid, and bland and could have used much more contact with the skillet. One thing that I particularly enjoyed was the griddle biscuit. I love biscuits and I love texas toast, and when you combine the two concepts, it creates something much greater than the sum of the two. On a weekday morning, It took our server exactly 25 minutes to come to our table to see if we'd like something to drink and another 12 minutes to get a few coffees and waters to our table. That kind of service is simply unacceptable. I would have left had I not been spending the morning with my in-laws. Once our order was in, the food came out pretty quickly, but waters and coffees regularly went empty and there was a lot of waiting for our check. I really hope this was a fluke, because I'd like to eat here again without being put in a foul mood.

Best breakfast in Loveland. Highly recommend. Food is excellent and definitely worth the wait. Huge portion sizes so make sure you are hungry. Staff is very friendly and service is fast.

I really love this place. Breakfast is one of my favorite meals to go out for. I would get here early, it gets packed quickly later in the morning. The restaurant is always clean, the staff is friendly and top notch. Try the "Pam" breakfast hamburger!

The food is amazing. They cook all their own stuff. The biscuits are huge, cooked perfectly slicked open and toasted on the flattop grill. Layer with their homemade strawberry jam, I don't know why you would choose toast over those biscuits. The portions are HUGE! I have to take home half the meal each time. Definitely will continue to go back and again and again. The wait staff did everything right.

Went for the 3rd time to this place for a nice breakfast. Things just didn't measure up again. My wife's ordered over medium and she got over easy eggs. Breakfast places should be able to get this right on the 1st try. Heartland, CJ's and the Egg and I figure it out the 1st time every time. My son ordered choc. chip pancakes. There were at least 2 quarter sized pieces of egg shell in the pancakes. NOT OK. We ordered a side of toast to go with the pancakes and it didn't come. The waitress apologized that she'd forgotten to put the order in. Perhaps next time it would help if she wrote down the order instead of trying to memorize everything. basic service.... My burrito was tasty, albeit way too large...but that's another story. I'd love to have seen fruit/cereal available on the kids menu as a choice. I won't be going back here again. There's too many other breakfast options in Loveland that get it right.

We went here on lunch.. the food was good & reasonably priced, coffee was bad, & the service??!..... what service?? We will try it again, but the fact that there were only 2 waitresses serving the entire restaurant & bar during a lunch rush hour was a shock.

As soon as you walk in, you know you're about to have a great meal. The place looks very clean and the help is very charming. The food was unbelievable (I had it twice when I visited CO: first time I had a breakfast burrito; second time an omelet) and I love that you can see it cooked right in front of you if you choose to sit at the high tops. Truly excellent service and quality!

Wow! What delicious a meal. The servers are all very nice ladies. We always sit at the bar and have prompt service. Everything we get is delicious. Everything. Let me say delicious one more time. Delicious.

We had a terrible experience today! I work close by and have an hour for lunch. After standing in line to be seated for a few minutes and never being acknowledged, we sat at that counter. The server took our order. Then we sat there for 15 minutes. Our waitress walked by numerous times but never checked on the fact we had no food. Since you can see everything the cook is doing while sitting at the counter, I could see that he had fulfilled all the tickets he had and had stopped cooking. At this point I asked the waitress if there was a problem with our order. She gave me a blank look then asked the cook if he had our order. He said he hadn't gotten it so she turned to the computer to put the order in. I was beyond tired of waiting at this point, and my lunch hour was winding down. I told her I couldn't wait any longer for my food and to just forget it. Instead of apologizing she asked if I wanted it to go. I stated again that I was out of time and had no desire to continue to wait. Again, no apology. What poor service! We will not go back.

This place has become a weekend ritual for us since opening. Friendly service, huge portions and amazing food! I have had just about everything on the menu but love the Papas dishes. The green chili is some of the best around and the blackberry jam is yummy! Excellent service and incredibly friendly staff! Definitely the best bfast place in Loveland!

It's important to note this is a diner. For a diner they have fresh food, the bacon is awesome (even though I'm a vegetarian I had to try it). The staff is very friendly and attentive. The only reason I give it 4 out of 5 stars is because I wish they used more creativity with the food. It's the same basic food arranged in different ways.

  • Loni G.

Large portions and fresh food. Unfortunately the chili sauces both contain flour but they'll use fresh green chilies if you want. Friendly and efficient service. I'll come back and try lunch next.

Wonderful, homemade food and very friendly waitstaff. Pancakes, maple syrup, jams, etc all made from scratch. You won't be disappointed.

The first time I ate at Doug's was in Fort Collins and I asked "when you coming to Loveland?" and she said "how about Monday"? That was a few months ago and I eat there at least once a week. Love "The Clint" and the "Sweet Cakes". The staff is awesome too...and if you haven't had a "Griddle Biscuit" yet... oh my, shame on you.

One of my favorite places in Loveland. Great food and great service! It's taken me months to get past the breakfast menu, but I had a Black Betty Burger for lunch today and all I can say is I know what I'm ordering next time. Great home town feel and service with a smile.

Doug, Mondays and Tuesdays are 5 star days with your manager Ali running the store. Won't eat there on other days can't take the poor attitude and atmosphere.

I went back here the other day and went from unimpressed to just disappointed. Maybe my hopes were too high because of the talk of Doug being from Santa Fe or maybe Doug's talk about being from Santa Fe is all talk. COME ON DOUG! First, what's up with not having any music in your new store? I see the speakers in the ceiling tiles; why not use them? Your bored waitresses conversations are no where near as entertaining as they think they are. I'd rather listen to regurgitated classics than hear about someone wonder if Johnny likes them. I had a burger with green chile on it on my last visit, I think you call it a Joe (I do like the simplicity of the names for your food). The menu makes it sound like this is a burger with some CHILI. However, it had only tiny bits of diced green chilies barley even noticeable or flavorful. More chilies would not have made my burger better. If I (or you) want a real burger, with chili, go to Henry's and order their sourdough burger. Doug, you should go see what a real burger with chili on it is like and step up.

This was one of the tastiest breakfasts I've ever had. Super generous portions. Willing to work with my egg sensitivity so I got beautiful tomatoes with homemade pesto. They make their own jam and your coffee cup never gets a chance to get empty. Here for a softball tournament so very close to the Barnes softball complex. We loved it and will definitely be back.

What a gem this place is! My wife, daughter and I hit this place up for brunch on a Sunday and we were very surprised how short the wait was for such a highly rated eatery. The wait staff was more than helpful and very attentive. What ever we asked for, it was brought over with a smile and asking us if we needed anything else. As for the food; we couldn't say enough great things about it! I had the Ranchers (Chicken Fried steak) and my wife went with the Huevos Soccoros. The portions were HUGE and everything on the plate was incredibly fresh. The griddle biscuit that is packaged with the breakfast meals are almost a meal by themselves and when offered w/ their homemade jams, they make for the perfect end to your meal. I think my ONLY suggestion to this place would be to crisp up the hash browns a bit more. Can't wait to go back and try something off of their lunch menu!

    (5)
  • David Y.

Excellent food all around. The value is insane (huge amount of food for the price), the quality is high (everything is homemade), and the atmosphere is nice (good service/quick food). I had the chicken fried steak and every element of the meal was perfect- hashbrowns/home made biscuits (which were some of the best I've had), and the chicken fried steak. I'd definitely come back to Doug's Day Diner.

Had two eggs over easy, hash browns, rye toast and their chili turkey sausage. I really liked the sausage and coffee. Didn't care for sitting at the bar, the stools are too low. Everyone is reaching for their food. Extremely uncomfortable. That's probably why the wait for a table. Service was attentive.

Be sure you are hungry when you come here. We arrived in Denver at 7 am from an out of town flight and were looking for a breakfast place en route to Estes Park. Found this off Yelp and boy were we glad. Hubs had the breakfast chorizo burrito. It was huge! And nice flavor. Hubs thought it could have used a little more kick. I had the Cowboy Panas w/ my gravy on the side. I added peppers and onions. Excellent flavor. Then I asked for a biscuit to go with some of my gravy. Oh dear lord. The homemade jams were to die for. I squeezed every last drop out and if I thought my husband wouldn't have minded, I swear I would have licked the cups clean. Blackberry jam not too sweet; perfection. And strawberry jam that was a diabetic nightmare but holy cow. Like a great strawberry margarita without the liquor; it was practically a strawberry orgasm. Very good service; the servers worked well as a team, and they let me charge my iPhone. All in all a terrific start to our vacation!

Delicious food, great pricing, friendly and excellent service. They make everything from scratch and use local ingredients when they can. I got the Sweet Combo. The hot cakes are definitely a must. My egg was a little undercooked, so that's why I can't give it 5 stars.

Lunch with the Mom. Both never been there, but we will be back. I had the simple hamburger, with added bacon chunks. If I could criticize one thing, it would be the bacon needs to be crispier. I was reminded of a burger place in San Diego (Hodad's) that my friends and I used to goto decades ago. Great beef, hand pattied, grilled (I swear this burger had a real charcoal taste with a grilled bun as well) with some thick bacon on top. Cooked perfectly to order and so damn tasty! One of the best hamburgers I've had in recent memory. Seriously, it was that good. Fries on the side seemed to be real fresh cut potatoes, but they could've been fried a little bit more. Not soggy, but not crispy...another 15 seconds in the fryer would've made them so much better. But seasoned well and very nice. I'm a french fry snob, and I was happy with the fries otherwise. Mom had some chicken sandwich. She didn't like the peppers added to it, but then she doesn't like spicy, so no real problem there. She said the food was cooked perfectly and tasted great. Agreed with me the fries were a little undercooked (I learned from the best!) but overall a great meal for a great price. Also worth mentioning: we both had iced tea and it was very good. A lot of iced tea is too acidic and needs a ton of sugar to balance it, but this wasn't the case here. Good service as well. No complaints. A great diner here in town, and I can't wait to try some breakfast sometime.

Incredible, simply marvelous! You owe yourself & your loved ones a meal here! Large portions of great homemade food, fair prices & good service! The biscuit is practically a meal and the raspberry jam is heavenly!

Excellent service and friendly environment. The food quality is above average with the breakfast burrito being a favorite. Pricing it reasonable.

Friend's I'm visiting recommended this place for breakfast and encouraged me to try their breakfast burritos. As they warned me, they are large and you can get them with red or green chili sauce. Both are somewhat spicy with the red being, i think, slightly hotter but with a more complex flavor profile. I had the breakfast burrito with green chili turkey sausage and the green chili sauce. Prices are reasonable and staff is nice and room for everyone. It was a big snow day so someone noted that they crowds would get in later so if you like lots of space around you, go early! Other than that, I did check and they do make their red and green chili sauce in house.

Had lunch there today! Will definitely go back. I had the Wimpie Skinny Papa so good!!!!!!my sister had he Wimpie Carene Asada Papa she lovedIt. When they brought out my husband's burger our jaws dropped. Beautiful. He said it was the best burger he ever had in a restaurant. This place Is great and the prices are unbelievable. Service and waitstaff couldn't be friendlier or quicker. Do yourself a favor eat here!

  • Jessica M.

I think I just ordered wrong, or it was a bad day for them. Food was good, but wasn't amazing like the rest of the reviews. I ordered the big pig. The waitress was right, the portions are hefty. I was disappointed in the omelette because there was a massive serving of sausage or chorizo. I don't even know what it was and that huge thing just over powered the entire meal. I think I saw 4 chopped pieces of bacon in there. Their jam and sauces are made from scratch. And those were good! Biscuit was good too... The Browns were more burnt than anything so womp to that.

  • laurie l.

Service is good, portions are huge. It's hit or miss with the flavors though, and the prices are high. The coffee is a little on the weak side, for the price I want super stellar food and honestly I can make a better breakfast at home. There is always a long wait for a table but there are no other breakfast restaurants downtown besides the coffee places. It's a meh in my opinion.

    (3)
  • Zach J.

Great breakfast joint. Huge servings made with locally sourced food. The one downside is that it's popular for breakfast so there is always a wait in the morning. This place is worth a wait and is our favorite Loveland restaurant for breakfast.

I used to like this place but the last two times I had bad experience. The first one was that I ordered the Sharon omelet with no sour cream the same way I always order it. I was sitting at the bar watching them make it and saw the sour cream go on it. So when the waitress brought it over I said I think they out sour cream on it. So she takes her bare hands and opens the omelet and sees the sour cream. Takes it back to the cook and shows him and he scoops out the sour cream and then takes his towel hanging of of his hip and wipes out the inside of my omelet. So she brings it back and I told her that was unacceptable. She says why is that not good. I had to explain to her that's the same towel that he has been wiping out pans wiping down the front of his station and who knows what else. I asked if she would eat it. She said no way. The second time was more bad service with part over cooked food part under cooked. I will never go there again. And I used to like this place a lot. I'm not one to leave bad reviews but maybe the owner will see this and correct the problems.

My family really enjoyed breakfast here! Our top faves were the One Plus with blueberries, a small Favorites omelet, and oatmeal with a side of bacon. Everything was fresh and amazing! Whatever they do to their bacon-magnificent! And the jelly...I caught my daughter eating it with a spoon (and couldn't really blame her!).

What a treat to find this place. Had a great breakfast from one of the many tasty choices. It's definitely going to be a future stop for me. Btw the waitstaff and owner were very friendly and accommodating.

Bacon! Wow! ...I am somewhat of a bacon conisour, and this bacon may just be the thickest most delicious slice of bacon served outside a farm. The griddle biscuit with jam is so good as well. Breakfast burritos were huge. We came with a group and no one was disappointed. The layout of the restaurant doesn't really lend well for large groups... really more than a 4 top is going to be tricky. I would give it five stars for the food, but the service is a little slow, and it seems too take a while to get your check, so I knocked it down to a four. Definitely worth the wait and I plan on going back again and again!

Breakfast was simply awesome. I rate high for fresh unique quality food. Service was attentive and fast. I've eaten here a few times now and never been disappointed. Generous portions with average meal plus drink about $13.

I'm moving into the building in which this restaurant is on the 1st floor. DANGEROUS!!! I just might gain 100lbs!! Lol! It was my first time there. Waited about 10-15 minutes for a table on a Friday morning but we would have waited an hour. The food was SO frickin' good!! The biscuits!!!! Ugh!! The Browns... Amazing! We went for breakfast but better believe we'll be regulars. For breakfast and lunch. Everything is homemade and as a fit chick, they'll customize my order which is great! My cheat meals will be from here but my healthy ones can be too! That is a HUGE plus!!

  • Aric S.

As soon as we sat down, we had a waitress take our drinks, and quickly after took our food order. I ordered a plain cheeseburger and fries. Food arrived in about 10 minutes, and the portion size was huge! This was probably the best cheeseburger I've had in a very long time. Was cooked to perfection, and tasted amazing. French fries were fresh, not frozen. I will be going back many times, and Id recommend a visit. Food is great. I saw a burrito and a salad go by my table, and again, portion size was huge! Prices are fairly cheap for the amount and quality of food that you get! Yummy!

  • Honor P.

This restaurant serves really good food that is good both in quality and quantity... and so it feels good to eat it. We have only eaten here one time, but the service was just fine and the place was clean, and our two sandwiches served as a couple of meals. Oh, and the fries... oh yea... :) I would have liked a skoche more space between ours and the next table, but that's not how lunch joints work best so I suppose I would recommend that they better space folks when they seat them. Otherwise though, good stuff.

This place proudly proclaims that everything is made from scratch, and with one bite of their fantastic food you can tell. The biscuits and gravy were a standout from my last meal. But I can't wait to try more.

Simple stuff with a burly focus on quality. I was recommended to Dougs by one of my more trusted homies. Needless to say he still has my attention after this experience. So I brought my four year old and he ate damn near every bite of his massive pancake. The bacon that came with his plate was super thick cut, high quality pork fat. Gnarly. I got the Huevos Socorro with the carne asada. The choice of red or green Chile made easy by the answer of "both". It was not crazy hot but had a slow burn that actually made my head sweat like my old man's used to at El Pollo Loco back in the day (my dad was bald, that's why it's funny). Eggs cooked perfectly, simple and flavorful coffee. The toast was spot on and so damn soft! The serious high point was the homemade jam. Gat dayum! Both flavors (strawberry and blackberry) were fresh, not too sweet and huge on REAL FRUIT! THANK YOU JESUS! Big ups for service and great conversation. I tipped 30% because they earned it. I will be back. This place is a hipster friendly home town style spot that will beat any IHOP by triangle choke in the first round.

I've been here numerous times and I am never disappointed. :) I always order something different because there menu is so unique I need to try it all. I started trying the lunch menu today and I was just as happy with that as the breakfast. Their sandwiches have a great twist on normal sandwiches and the bread is perfectly toasted and sweet :) the service is exceptional and friendly. I come from longmont to eat here a couple of times a month so that should let you know how good it is. I even buy their homemade jelly which is only one of the things they make in house :)
