Early for a movie so we went in to kill time and eat. It's got a mom and pop charm. Clean but not emaculate gives it that old school diner feel it. Judging from the interaction with the staff and customers they are a neighborhood favorite. Ordered the cheeseburger and loved it. Good and greasy and way better that any burger I've had since I moved to Colorado from California. Thin burger and soft bun was a good pair but the signature sauce was the star, served on the side so you can also dip your fries. Bravo to a local place doing it right I can't wait to go back. Also you can take any of their food and drink into the theater! Score!

I always feel like I'm inconveniencing them by coming in...weird. Maybe it's the BOGO entertainment book coupon ( hint hint) that's rubbing them the wrong way... Anyway, we have eaten here a bunch because its right by the movie theater. The Paradise burger is good it's a Terriyaki pineapple burger and I seem to pick it every time. Gavin gets the BLT and eats the whole thing, which is a good sign. The onion rings are doughy and not very good. I would stick with the fries.

This place is a family run place that makes yummy sandwiches. The price is good, the food is made to order and the eats are pretty good. I had a burger.. it was oddly served on a hoagie bun. My mom had a philly sandwich. Both sandwiches were good. The fries were a little mushy, but ok.

This place is the quintessential burger/shake shop that has disappeared from the American Eating Landscape. Remember when you were a little kid on vacation over the Fourth of July and you went for Burgers and a Shake, only to return to your cabin to complain about how the ketchup bottle wasn't sparkling clean? Yeah neither do I. This place makes Burgers, Fries, Shakes and Malts....and they do it well. I think there are 5 different types of Burgers and this falls into the greasy/fried category, the bun is soft, the cheese is melted, the fries are tasty and the Shakes are legit. It's perfect for when you get that burger craving. It's also really affordable. All the people complaining that they didn't get a white linen dine-in experience should go ahead and write a Sushi Restaurant review that starts "Now I don't eat raw fish...but". Like Burgers? Go to Johnny Mac's.

Had one of the best philly cheese steaks of my life here, with great fries. We got a raspberry milkshake that had real fruit in it. Delicious! Friendly service and good prices.

I love their version of a BLT on a sub roll. That's the only thing I have ordered here because it is so good. The place loses a star in the burger/sandwich shop category because my friend has ordered other sandwiches and burgers that aren't as outstanding. If you like BLTs, go for it! Almost forgot to mention that the Elvis Cinema is right across the hall. A very nice bargain outing!

No. Just no. Ordered a milk shake because they're supposed to be world famous. And they are, for NOT being a milk shake. It's pretty much ice cream in a cup, no straw necessary. They did have a decent house sauce which my man was really excited about, until he asked for more. It looked rancid, and if the crappy milkshake didn't ruin our meal, that certainly did. Don't go there, we should have left immediately and I'm hoping we don't get sick.

This place has a few things really going for it including it's great location, good food, and nice prices. It's a no thrills local diner and I love it. Their focus is food, not the color of your seat cushion. What I love about Johnny Mac's is that you can bring their food into Elvis next door to enjoy with your movie. It's got your local food joint goodies featuring good burgers, chicken strips and fries, wraps, sandwiches, fries, and more. The price and convenience is really what gives this place value in my book. I will be back!

Good food, a good dining experience, from people who genuinely care if you enjoyed your meal. It is wonderful to find people who know how to deep-fry--the fries are PERFECT, never greasy, the onion rings from some place beyond heaven. Burgers? You can get a good one rare. Chicken Wings, Meatball subs, wonderful MALTS, with malts... It is true that the two kind people running the place can get a bit overwhelmed during the dinner hour--but the place is quite clean, the atmosphere welcoming, bright light and nothing hidden. I think the shrieks come from those who have lived their lives isolated by a long and high counter from the realities of modern, good, well-prepared diner food. How precious can you get? I put my stomach and digestive system where my opinions are--and am at peace with myself in all particulars.

Living in the suburbs all my life, it is difficult to find a non-chain restaurant that offers a solid burger. My wife and I went here because of the above average reviews, and I am glad we did. We each got the same thing, a cheeseburger and fries. This was the first time going, and these were my first impressions. The burger was the best part as far as the food goes. The patty was not made from a frozen brick, and together with the bun (which was my wife's favorite part) and condiments, it was a pleasant, good tasting burger that is different from your average burger. There is a special sauce that accompanied the meal and was on the burger. I liked the sauce and believe that it added to the burger. But I am insure what the sauce was comprised of, I am pretty sure that it has ketchup and mayonnaise. The fries were ok, not great, but average. They were cooked well, nice and crispy, but lacked any flavor that causes this side to be distinctively good; they required ketchup and were not good enough to be eaten alone. I will most likely go back and would recommend this place. I give it a this rating because it is a different place to get a burger, fries, and a shake than other large chain restaurants, and it does a pretty good job at it.

It wasn't bad. Keep in mind this is a small diner not some chain or high end eatery. The food was hot, the onion rings were good. The burger was fine. My wife had the cheese steak, don't expect a real Philly style here. Over all, we'll probably go back, but we're not counting the days until the next visit. Oh yeah, the soda selection is slim, NO diet only Coke Zero.

After seeing all the rave reviews, we decided to try it. I had a chicken sandwich and she had a burger. Chicken was good and the burger was good also. The onion rings were greasy and had a funky seasoning to them that was a turn-off. Should have got the fries! Pleasant wait staff and a clean well lighted place.

What is wrong with you people. This place is DISGUSTING. Put it this way I've sent a complaint to the health inspector. Black hair in my malt from the strange lady in a muscle shirt who rang up my order. Do you think she washed her hands after taking money and before making my malt? Of course not. My water cup was dirty. Handed it back to her and said can I get a cup without crap on the edge. What did I get.... another dirty cup with crap on the edge. Yummy. Nasty gray haired lady with hair sticking out everywhere bringing out food. No hat. No hair net. Filthy tables. My feet stuck to the floor. Filthy salt and pepper. Filthy ketchup and mustard. The spoon for that malt? In a dirty tub with dirty plastic spoons handled by everyone in the "restaurant". Watch everyone bang their empty baskets in the garbage can. Then realize the basket you are eating out of was just in the garbage. You know they didn't clean them. How? They are filthy. I'm sure the kitchen is a beacon of cleanliness as well. In fact go look for yourself on Jefferson County's website. Something I wish I had done. 8 violations since 9/11 with 4 being critical meaning "Directly contribute to foodborne illness." A few gems: "Employee observed handling ready to eat food with bare hands." "Presence of pests, inadequate pest control procedures. Ants in dry storage area." "Inadequate separation of living/sleeping quarters. Portable crib stored in kitchen." "Improper toxic separation & storage. Grill cleaner stored on prep counter near potatoes and brownie mix." "Unclean non-food contact surfaces. Reach in cooler door handles were soiled." A crib in the kitchen???? Do yourself a favor. Pass this place over. And to the attack I received. This is what Yelp is about. Truth. Not positive reviews from owners and their friends. Everything I spoke is the truth. And I don't know how you possibly saw me. Here is a hint just because someone posts something on a certain date doesn't mean they were there that day. DUH! My visit was in the last week. You proved many of my points to be true as it sounds like someone else had a similar experience to mine. And the violations I cited are for the current business. You can't blame the previous business that was there. Do you mean to tell me that the new owners walked into a former Chinese restaurant cleaned nothing up and started their AMERICAN food business? Using the woks and rice cookers to make burgers and fries???? Please do us a favor stop posting reviews for your business and or friends.

I did receive a response from management offering gift certificates for the bad experience. Even though we won't return it was good business to get a follow up. I would only ask that they focus on cleanliness for a bit.

What a find. We came here based upon the few reviews they had received so far. The food more than exceeded our expectations, and the service was fantastic. The restaurant is a bit on the smaller side, however, they are big on quality and value. I had the bacon cheeseburger, she had the regular cheeseburger. The first thing that stood out to us was that the ingredients were not the typical mediocre food service grade produce, bread and meat. The meat was defiantly not a premade frozen patty. The texture and flavor was so far above average as to be surprising. The bacon was thick and had a nice flavor. The vegetables may have been the most surprising component of our wonderful sandwiches. The tomatoes were ripe but firm and cut thick. The lettuce was crisp and much more flavorful than the stuff I have become accustomed to getting on a burger. The bread was not the light, tasteless McDonalds type that has become prevalent in the burger world. Neither was it dense and heavy like the rolls the hoity -toity places have tried to push lately. She also had a chocolate malt to cool off as it was over 100* outside. The malt was much better than the fake ice cream based stuff that has become common in the fast food world. It was rich, chocolaty and sufficiently malty. The service was as good as the food. The gal at the counter even came around and refilled my iced tea. She delivered an ambitious (10" tall) ice cream cone to the next table. She willingly and cheerily listed the ingredients to the "Mac's Sauce" they put on the burgers before we ordered. No pretentious attitude here. We have been hurting for a place to get a good burger in the SW area. Being a fat guy I need a good burger to maintain a pleasant disposition. I am pleased to now have a place to get my fix.

Not so clean, can't say if hands were washed or not. Burger was fried, nothing special or unique. Fries tasted like the fry oil was 4 years old and stale. I would not return or recommend.

I ate here recently for dinner. I was expecting an awesome experience based on the positive Yelp reviews about this place, but was honestly not impressed. I do agree that it is cool that you can buy food from this place and take it in with you to the movie theaters next door, but that's about where my own positive review of this place stops. I love little dive-y places and hole-in-the-wall atmospheres, but this place is just dirty. Sticky floor, dust on the napkin holders, and crumbs in the utencil holders by the register. The fries were decent, probably the best part of our meals, but our respective burger/philly steak sandwich left much to be desired (even after dripping grease everywhere). Our table was right by the window, and even that was filthy. I am sure the owners love what they do, but I would highly recommend getting their act together on the cleanliness of their shop. If that's how they keep their dining area, just imagine what it must be like back in the kitchen. I wanted to like this place, but we won't be back :(

My boyfriend and I have come here twice (so far) and what a gem it is! Right next to the movie theater, it's a really well-priced tasty cafe. The food is fresh off the grill, and just really good hit-the-spot food. Their fries are FANTASTIC and the hamburgers were as well. The staff is pleasant, and it's family-owned. Service is quick and casual and it's a really relaxing place to go. Free wi-fi, good prices. Definitely a new favorite.

  • David L.

Way better than fast food! Burger tasted fresh. Fries were okay. The malt was more like soft serve ice cream with mix ins than a milk shake. A bit too thick in other words. I will not hesitate to return for that burger though. The best part is that they have a deal with the theater next door and you can bring your food over! Oh yeah! It's cheap.

Grilled chicken sandwich was juicy and flavorful. Fries were ok. No free wifi from what I could tell. Cute place, friendly service. I agree with another reviewer about how cleanliness could use some work. The napkin dispensers are dusty and the bottles on the table are pretty grimy. The bathroom floor was sticky. With all the good reviews, I was surprised we were the only customers on a very busy Saturday around noon. Overall, nice experience and I'm glad we took a break from the usual chains.

Surprise! I've stopped in to Johnny Mac's several times to get one of their fantastic malts, but never before stopped to eat at this little, tiny (no exaggeration) mom-and-pop restaurant. Today, I finally did, and what I pleasant surprise I got. They have specials all the time. Today it was a cheeseburger served on half a sub-sandwich roll, fries, and drink for $5.99. I always make a point of tasting the meat before I eat a burger with its fixings. That way, I know how well the beef was seasoned. Johnny Mac does a superb job. They also appear to go the extra mile of shaping the burgers oblong to fit the rolls. It is a nice touch. The roll was nice and toasty, and the fixings simple (lettuce, tomato, and the nicely tart Johnny Mac sauce), The skin-on fries were simply amazing. They had no heavy taste of grease like at so many other places, and were lightly kissed with salt. Of note, they brew their own iced tea. If you like iced tea, this is getting harder to find. On my way out, I had to grab one of their large malts ($3.29), this one hot fudge. In the past, I've had the butterscotch. These are simply decadent and not to be missed. Other flavors, both shakes and malts, include chocolate, caramel, strawberry, cherry (never had a cherry shake), raspberry, pineapple, marshmallow (not a fan, but sounds good if you are), peach, peanut butter, blueberry, and plain, old vanilla. This was a pleasant surprise, and I will for sure dine there again.

My husband and I found this little place one night by accident. It won't be the last time we go to this fabulous, friendly, family-owned gem! The burgers were flat-out AMAZING. Fries were awesome, onion rings were really good. Everything was so fresh...my mouth is watering now as I am writing this on a Monday morning. lol! Really. Please. Give them a shot and support a local business!

Great Googly Moogly!! YUM! Hubby and I live right near here and just finally stopped in a few weeks ago. We've been in SEVERAL times since then. What can I say? It's awesome. Everything is so delicious. The malts are awesome, the chicken is great....onion rings are perfect...And while I'm usually not a burger person, I feel like I could eat 10 of theirs! haha. Did I mention awesome prices? Really the place has it all. I encourage everyone to stop into this little treasure!! :)

This place is awesome. Great hamburgers and chicken burgers. Fries are good and onion rings are better. My wife loves the paradise chicken burger and I love the Monday night special, green chili enchilada burger. The shakes are radical and I just saw a banana split and can't wait to try one.

Great little burger joint! I found this place today while searching for some lunch. The burgers are just what you look for, lots of taste and just the right amount of grease:) Can't wait to go back and try the milk shakes.

Good old time grill with the world's best spoon spender shakes and malts. Their burgers remind me of the 60's with their special fry sauce. Limited menu of great things with a money saving daily special every day.

  • Theresa A.

It was nice to step into a place where the food is fresh and "old school" and prices were extremely reasonable. Our hamburgers were perfectly grilled, the buttery buns toasted on the grill added to the taste. We will definitely go back and highly encourage people to check it out.

  • Kent C.

Burgers were really good, and the handmade buns were excellent. Onion rings were not my style, way too much batter. Fries were excellent. I won't upgrade to rings again unless they either thin out the batter or go to eggwash and corn meal coating. As to cleanliness, a little better attention to detail is needed. The tops of the napkin holders are greasy, and need to be wiped down. The ketchup and mustard bottles are obviously refilled, so take the water soaked labels off, and rinse off the lids so there isn't caked on residue from 4 fillings ago on the inside of the lids. Finally, they should move the napkin holders and condiment bottles when wiping down the tables to get the complete tabletop cleaned. Cleanliness is so easy, but also frequently overlooked. They say they have free wi-fi, but their server is locked.
