Overall, solid truck stop experience. Stopped for breakfast after traffic had come to a standstill on I-25. Portions are big and my food was cooked to order. service was very good and friendly. Quite a variety of food available and breakfast is available all day. I was there on a weekday (friday) and it was not too busy. Cinnamon rolls are LARGE. probably good to have an eating buddy for this.

I am a frequent visitor at Johnsons Corner and have always loved their food and service. Since they were bought by TravelCenter almost nothing has changed: their customer service is always done promptly and with a smile, food is still quick and plentiful and the cinnamon rolls are still simple the best around. One thing has changed unfortunately and that is the quality of the food. Potatoes (Hash Browns and French fries) aren't as crisp anymore , eggs have lost their flavor and "fluff" and the overall quality has gone down just enough to make me question the drive to get there. It's still a great restaurant... But they must have changed their cook staff because the edge is gone.

I don't grant anyone 5 stars unless everything is on point, this morning, it was! Seated as soon as we walked in, quickly had our drink request taken and brought to us. The chicken fried steak was awesome, crust was perfect, eggs were done just like I requested, hash browns & gravy had great flavor. The toast had a unique toasting to it, similar to the campfire bread toasters....excellent. The Carmel pecan cinnamon roll was to die for (which they are known for) and my wife's omelette, side of biscuit & gravy she also loved. A great start to our Friday morning road trip!

CLEAN!!! No cobwebs, no dusty picture frames! The breakfast, a #1 with dippy eggs, toast, hashbrowns, and some of the finest bacon I've ever had, was served fast, exactly as ordered, and delicious. Hubs was completely happy.. Finished everything on his plate! That never happens. Service was friendly, price was super reasonable, and the view of the Rockies was amazing.

On my way back from Whyoming I had to stop in for a Cinnamon roll and to use the potty. Cinnamon rolls are delish and one can be split between two people. The Restroom was clean.

Well this review will be necessarily short, since all I got was one of their "world famous cinnamon rolls." But it was a big honkin' cinnamon roll that really tasted good. Nice light roll, lots of glaze. It was a hit!

just another truck stop diner.. food was good, service was terrible. Getting good service n good food at the same time from a truck stop is almost impossible. waitress got my order wrong n took forever to get her away from her friends to get our check. Not sure what all the hype is about this place. It's run down n dirty.

So we finally tried the infamous Johnsons corner. The initial service started a little slow but it was eventually brought up to speed. Our meals included the chicken fried steak, hot wings , and a bacon cheeseburger. Every one enjoyed their meal. We are anticipating the cinnamon rolls that this place is know for. We are taking them to go. But overall it was a decent drive for a Sunday and nice was to start our day that includes the outlet stores in Loveland. Our ticket without the dessert was $45

I grew up in Fort Collins and have lived in CO most of my life, but never had one of the famous cinnamon rolls till this weekend. I figured it was time, so made it a point to stop on the way home from visiting Dad. They have prepackaged cinnamon rolls right next to the cash register. One will set you back a whopping $3 (yes that's sarcasm in type). Heated in the microwave the roll was very tasty. I've heard they are better if you eat in, but honestly I wanted to get home so didn't spend the time.

Over all three stars - Typical Greasy Spoon comfort food. Breakfast Burrito was ok but the hash browns was bland unseasoned crispy on the outside and mush on the inside. Server was very friendly. Today the early morning local farmers were all sitting around talking about their crops, the weather, and the local news. So the environment was very friendly and entertaining. I would return but definitely not on a frequent basis.

I like Johnson's Corner. It's a bustling loud noisy atmosphere, the waitresses are always friendly and the food is good ol' greasy truck stop food - but it's good! Try their Chicken Fried Steak - you wont be sorry.

So, as soon me and my family walk in, there is almost no one at the restaurant and we were not acknowledged at all. We sat ourselves and we had to even grab our own menus from the table! Anyways, one of the sweeter older ladies took our orders. I got the Chili Burger, which consists of a 1/2 pound pattie and your choice of Red or Green chili. Topped of with a sprinkle of onion bits. It was amazing! The meat tasted so good and it was REAL BEEF, cooked to perfection. They just need to work on their customer service!

Johnsons' Corner has always been a wonderful restaurant. Petro/TA Truck stops have bought the place & I am hoping they don't ruin the place. Johnson's Corner has a huge local & tourist trade, especially the Sunday & weekend crowd. They are always packed. The food is cooked right there, just like at home & they have their own Bakery, where baked goods, biscuits, etc are made & brought in. They also have Buffalo Sausage & Eggs w/hash browns, which we had, just $6.99. Just wonderful & tasty. We did buy an Apricot Kringle on the way out, $7.99; Was not as pleased with it. The dough was not real flaky, more like biscuit dough & the filling could have had a little more substance & flavor. The wait staff are still as always friendly, smiling & pleasant; always eager to please. My Greatest fear is, that they will start changing the restaurant, which would be a huge mistake. I would be really pissed to find it to be another of TA/Petro's microwave wonder, restaurants; which have no variety & food that is poorly prepared. Hopefully they will leave Johnson's Corner just as it is, a warm friendly place to be, with wonderful & caring wait staff & cooks, who actually prepare & cook real food, that is good for you.

How anyone can claim that Johnson's Corner has the "best" cinnamon roll is beyond me. 20 years ago, yes! Today, no. It's a dry, overly sweet, monster plopped on a plate. It tastes more like it was fresh out of the microwave and much less like it was out of the oven.

Johnsons Corner has gone down hill since their owners changed. Really sad. Been going there since 1977.

This is a must-stop if you're on the way to Fort Collins or anywhere else! This place is famous for a reason and the portions are great! The prices are a good deal for the size you get but you definitely need to share with another of you aren't super hungry.

This is just like a typical Truck Stop restaurant with a few exception the restroom, store and restaurant are kept clean at all times. The service was excellent the hostess sat me and the waitress was a few seconds behind the hostess service was fast and there was no rush to get you out of the restaurant.

world famous cinnamon bun my butt!!! more like world famous for tasting like poop! this place was good a couple of years ago. food is alright. just don't expect it to be the best. it's a truck stop. if you want something decent then this is your place. skip the cinnamon roll though!!

I finally tried one of the "world famous" cinnamon rolls today with my husband and 7-yr old and I must admit, I am baffled by all of the rave reviews about them. Maybe I missed something? We found the icing to be sickeningly sweet and overpowered by the imitation almond extract. The roll was also quite dry. I'm not sure what I expected, but a dry roll with basically powdered sugar, milk and fake almond extract was not it. We had maybe 5 bites total before throwing it away. Very disappointed.

This is your classic diner experience. The waitresses are efficient and sassy! The breakfast is very affordably priced and LARGE portions. As others have mentioned, you must try the cinnamon rolls. And they typically have a flavor of the month option too. This place is great and we keep coming back for more. Oh, great people-watching too. :)

  • Kara H.

This place is overrated. Period. People go there because there is nothing else around and they are lured in with the offering of self-proclaimed "world famous cinnamon rolls." I'm "world famous" too. The Pillsbury version out of a can is actually better and that's not saying much. Mine was as hard as a rock and I'm certain that it was at least 8 days old. It improved minimally after some time in the microwave. I set up my laptop to do some work using the "free wifi." Let me give you their definition of "free:" you can connect to the interweb and then you have the option to look at a handful of websites or pay for the "upgraded wifi".... which is the wifi that people in 2015 use in order to work and maintain their employment. I ended up tethering my cell phone to my laptop which really seemed to puzzle people. Did I mention that my omelette (complete with unmelted cheese) took 23 minutes (but who's counting?) to order and 90 seconds to arrive? Sorry people of Johnstown ... At least you have Santiago's, Subway and the motel that offers massages.

I had a patty melt and my son had a burger. The meat patty was big and tasted fresh made, not frozen. My son said the milkshake was good. This is a truck stop with hearty "home cookin" dishes. Casual atmosphere.

Inside : nice diner, my husband said it had been remodeled since the last time he was there Service - friendly, quick Food - we came in for the cinnamon rolls. We split one (they are huge!) I personally don't even like cinnamon rolls, but I would order these again. The outside was kind of dry, frosting was yummy. Overall a nice little pit stop

I remembered coming here as a kid and liking it. I came back a while ago with my Aunt. I had a green chili burger. It was weak. They didn't ask me how I wanted it cooked?? That's really weird. It came out past well done. I would guess that if I didn't specify it would come out as medium. As a Restaurant Manager I know that that is the most ordered temp. I also have seen statistics that show that of the 5 way to order a burger, 50% percent of people prefer medium. I like mid-rare. My girlfriend is the only person I know that likes well-done. Ugh. Plus, the customer base seems to be mostly elderly people. How do they chew those tough pieces of meat. Anyway, the green chili was bland and boring. The bun was burnt as well. So one day we were driving back from Loveland or Ft Collins. I can't remember. We were starving. I thought it might be a bad idea to go back. I thought that maybe ordering a dish with a Mexican green chili in redneck country was my fault. Well, Tex-Mex I guess. So, we took the plunge. I didn't want to make the same mistake as last time. I thought to myself, what would these country folks do well? Meatloaf, mac n cheese and green beans. Right? No! The mac n cheese was a premium side that cost extra. I was excited. I imagined a Little House on the Prairie style family with a recipe past down from generation to generation being the served to me. I'm a mac n cheese nut. So, it comes out in a little cup. My heart sank. It looked like that awful Kraft powder cheese stuff in the box. I tasted it. It was somehow worse than that. I thought I was on Candid Camera. This can't be real. They can't actually serve this. Allen Funt did not come around the corner with cameras. I was heart broken. I don't know why that stuff exists. I know it's cheap, but even if you are really down on your luck you can make a mornay sauce with milk and government cheese. I know. I've been there. I told the waitress to "take it back in the kitchen, hand it to the chef and tell him I was offended that he tried to sell this $#!+ to me for money." Disgusting! The next Item was the green beans. I don't know how you screw these up. They had this awful waxy but soggy at the same time texture. No seasoning or butter or flavor. Obviously from a can. I told the waitress the same thing I told her about the mac n cheese. I asked if the French fries were powdered potatoes in a box or from a can. She said no. I told her to bring me out some of those. They were flavorless and disappointing. I think they were the frozen from a bag ones. I should have asked that. The meatloaf had an odd texture. Like something you would get from a Banquette frozen dinner. Those are the $1 ones. The gravy tasted like powder mix and water. Surprise. Luckily there was a McDonald's a few exits up. The staff is friendly. No complaints there. This food is sooooo sad. I can't believe this place is still in business. This is some of the worse food I have ever had. Step your game up. Mac n cheese is as simple as milk or cream. Or a mixture. Maybe a little butter and flour and some real cheese. Why do you think it's okay to serve powdered cheese in 2014? I am rushing back to the city where they serve real food.

This is a good place if you just need some quick food, a stop at the restroom, and need to get back on the road. Keep in mind that this is a truck stop, not a fancy restaurant. Yes, the cinnamon rolls are amazing. They are so, so delicious. They're also HUGE so you can easily split one with someone else. The coffee is ok. If you want cream and sugar with your coffee, they have cream and sugar. They even have a sugar substitute. But there's no coffeemate or other non-dairy creamer. The menu is decidedly American fare with overcooked vegetables and plenty of white bread. The food is just so-so. It would probably taste fantastic if you were on the road all day and this was the first hot meal you had in a while. The cafe is very family friendly with plenty of booths so you can keep your kids corralled and there are delicious desserts to reward them for being good. The bathrooms are clean and there's plenty of parking. There's a healthy selection of cigarette lighter-powered electronics in the store section and a variety of other road trip supplies like travel pillows, ice scrapers, etc.

Went to Johnson's Corner Truck Stop and Cafe last night with my family for the first time in 14 years because the service was so bad the last time. We'll things haven't gotten much better. We ordered 3 mushroom swiss burgers to be cooked medium and a chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes. The burgers came out so rare they were dripping blood and the mashed potatoes were so cold the couldn't melt the soft butter. The waitress didn't seem to care and the cashier didn't even ask about our experience. So I paid my $55.00 bill vowing never to return. I will be sure to tell all my friends and family about my experience and suggest that they go elsewhere.

Not the place to go if you are hungry! Took 20 minutes to get a table Close to 15 minutes to get asked for the order and another 15 to 20 to have the food delivered Took close to 15 minutes to get a refill of Decafinated coffee and when the food finally arrived the food was cold and the toast was burned The person serving us was very distracted and took time to vist and talk She was eaven late with the check I was just looking for a normal breakfast and they didn't deliver I can see why the long lines is mostly the same people sitting there for over one hour.

So is it just me or is Johnson's Corner turning into another greasy spoon truck stop since it's been sold? The sausage was raw and the hamburger was burnt. My daughters pancake tasted horrible. How do you mess up a pancake? All the waitresses are friendly enough but you can tell they just aren't happy in their work.

Came here after seeing it on food network. Definitely a truck stop diner. Meal was good, nothing special. Had the lemon meringue pie for dessert which was the best part of the meal. Also bought some cinnamon rolls to go, which is what they are known for. Those were great!

The last time I was at this iconic roadside truckstop was about 20 years ago. Things haven't changed much. It gets busy on the weekends because the tourists traveling I-25 drop in for breakfast. The food is so-so. I had biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs and hash browns. The best part was the hash browns. They're delicious. The B&G was right out of the can, glutinous gloppy gravy with no taste. Unremarkable, just like the ambiance. It was to a good breakfast what wonder bread is to a good sandwich. The standout was the truly poor service experience. As my Yelp tip indicates, I was at the counter with my adult son. Since it was busy, we sat at different spots in order to avoid waiting. There was one waitress working the section and my son's drink order was taken and delivered within seconds of sitting down. Then his breakfast order. Me? Nothing. Then the tatted tart does the same number for two other couples that sat down after me. I finally flagged the moron down and what an attitude I got, despite me being totally calm and polite. I always tip 20% on the total, including tax. Not this time. First time in memory. Hope you loved the flipping quarter, honey. Maybe you can buy a personality and some more body ink with it. Next time, I'll keep the pedal down and get better grub and service with a smile further up the road.

Came here on a cinnamon roll tour and sadly they did not come anywhere near their (self-proclaimed?) reputation of having the "best" cinnamon rolls. They were dry & tasted strongly of almond extract. Go up to Vern's, they do fresh, tasty rolls.

Stopped here at 6 AM on a Sunday morning as I was beginning an 800 mile drive. I wanted to eat a good, hearty breakfast, so I could avoid a food stop later in the trip. I ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs. Now, I should explain something. My mother is from the south. Her family has been in the south for over 300 years. If there's something they take seriously, it's chicken fried steak. I can say that this was the best I ever had. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the hash browns had the right amount of crunch and flavor, and the biscuit and gravy ... I think the only word is "nom." My server was very polite and was thrilled when I told her I had found out about them on Road Food. My only complaint was with the famous cinnamon roll. I purchased one as a take out item. I found it a little too sweet for my liking, a bit on the dry side, and not enough cinnamon flavor.

Not bad. Had a Bacon cheese burger and fries for $9. The burger was very good, the fries tasted old and from a frozen bag. Not fresh cut which is always better. Service was good. Pleasant atmosphere. Clean and just the right amount of buzz, not to quiet. I would eat here again From a trucker standpoint. Plenty of parking, lot is kept clean and organized. There is also free WiFi which is pretty fast. Cat scale, shower, lounge, large gift shop area. In addition to the resurant there is also an express grill area which chicken wraps and similar.

Johnson's was something of a destination stop for us on our road trip. While there was nothing inherently wrong about our stop here, it certainly wasn't worthy of being labeled a destination. We were left at our table so long without having anyone take an order from us that we were starting to wonder if we didn't know how to actually order (I assumed the phones were for truckers to call home from, but were they maybe to order?). To be fair, our waitress came over and apologized, saying she didn't see us behind another table. Other than that, she was pretty much fine. The food was nothing too special, either. I don't remember much of my meal, except the macaroni & cheese. I'm not at all convinced the macaroni & cheese wasn't boxed Kraft. The cinnamon rolls were pretty good, but I'm pretty convinced that the only thing making them special was way too much icing. Overall, there is absolutely nothing wrong with stopping here for a meal, just don't make it a destination.

The service went from 100 to 1 in just 2 months!!! We have been here over 30 times. It was our family tradition to come here for each birthday or holiday...until today. This is our second visit since the business sold. All the service is new. They are clueless. It took them 20 min to take our order and another 35 min to bring the food. The table next to is was so frustrated, they wanted to leave after 20 min of waiting for their food. When they finally brought the food half the orders were wrong. Not coming back.

The 2 stars are for the cinnamon roll only. They're great! Everything else is "meh" at best. The waitress was lukewarm, like the food we ate. She wasn't very pleasant but then was syrupy sweet to regular customers. We both had the everything omelet. Everything? Yeah, from a can that is. It isn't hard to make food from scratch. The OJ was room temp. I honestly was scared to drink it. I took a few drinks then left it. The cinnamon rolls are the saving grace for this place. Otherwise keep on driving to anywhere but here. Was a pleasant childhood memory to come here. As an adult I've been officially traumatized. Nooo thank you.

If you are like me and like a good meal without having to go too far off your route this is the best place between Cheyenne and denver. Good olde American diner food at a reasonable price and legendary cinnamon rolls.

Don't plan on receiving good service. The staff is incompetent and unaware of Visa policies regarding acceptance rules along with being rude in general. For the volume of vehicle and semi-truck traffic the place receives you would think they might spend more time on keeping the place clean but it was dirty, both inside the general sales floor area along with the bathrooms which have a decidedly truck stop feel; including hearing a tap tap tap when in the restroom if you know what I mean.

Great diner and service Yum cinnamon Rolls. Good place to shop for souvenirs and don't forget to purchase a Johnsons coffee mug and take some rolls to go.

It is one of the best truck stop, and it has all the amenities for truckers and even people on long road trips, and people actually drop in for the food. The chicken fried steak is famous here so I just had to try it. My mouth did not say wow, as it was okay. The biscuit and sausage gravy is one of the better ones I have had, but still no wow. The green chili. What a disappointment. The bowl was small like a cup and they charged about $4.50. I could not tell what meat was in it as there were only about four pepper-corn size pieces. Very few pieces of green chile, and a couple small pieces of red chili. The rest was just roux. The French fries were not fresh, rather cooked from frozen ones. I did not bother to try their famous cinnamon bun. judging from the chicken fried steak and green chile, which they are famous for, I had doubt that the cinnamon bun would be worth trying. The coffee was miserable. Service is very friendly and prompt. Johnson's Corner is over rated and over-priced.

I absolutely love this place. Be prepared, this is a truck stop and you're not in for fine dining although, to me it's a cultural icon. If I have time and I'm heading through Fort Collins, I stop here and sit at the bar area so I can talk to the old truckers and ranchers and eat one of their delicious cinnamon rolls. I especially like to stop if I have out of town/country guests. Do yourself a favor, sit at one of the two bars. I've only tried a few things and the rest of what I have tried is standard Americana breakfast and lunch type fare. There is a shop that you can kill lots of time in with very unique and campy items. While you're filling up your tank don't forget to get some gas for the car too. I've also stopped by here a couple times when someone has been selling fresh produce or locally made jellies and jams... make sure to pick some up!

Mom and pop truck stop with a plethora of ready to eat home made eats including pickles from the local ranchers. There are all kinds of cnadies and goodies and coffees,etc.. very firendly too! A 24 hour greasy spoon famous for cinnamon rolls is attached. And next door,a truck motel with a cubby rubby massage parlor. And may be THAT'S why its called Johnson's Corner.

Quintessential truck stop and diner....pure Americana. Cheap prices, 24 hour breakfast, big cinnamon rolls, chicken fried everything!! Fill up your vehicle and your belly here. :-)

Decent cinnamon roll. I wouldn't dare to say the best in America. I would say one of the bigger sugary sweet ones for sure though! It is worth checking out. If you order it to go be sure to microwave the cinnamon roll. Without the microwave they are a bit dry and the gooey frosting just sticks to the bottom of the container. Warm her up like a hot gal on the beach to get her all gooey dooey :)

Quintessential truck stop diner with everything you'd need to keep travelling and OPEN ALL HOURS. The Diner is worth stopping for breakfast. Quick and hot food with big coffee mugs although it's usually busy with truck traffic or the touristy kind of folk. The access to parking could be better by having more room around the building itself. A highlight for those traveling is that they have TV monitors that show all the roads during the winter months. Also, they have good bathrooms and all the convenience store grab-n-go's for the road.

My husband and I stopped in on a Sunday afternoon for a late breakfast and a cinnamon roll. We are used to seeing the place packed but it appeared as if we missed the rush. We were immediately seated and the waitress brought our drinks. In the section we were seated in we could hear gospel music coming from the banquet room. When we asked the waitress about the music, she said that on the second Sunday of each month Bluegrass Gospel time was held in the banquet room. The wonderful music, sweet cinnamon roll, and made from scratch biscuits and gravy conspired to take us back in time. It was a truly wonderful experience. Johnson's Corner has been around for an extremely long time because they serve home cooking at its best with a side of nostalgia.

I dropped in to grab a "world famous" cinnamon bun. The billboards did their job! I grabbed one out the case to go then warmed it in the microwave. The icing is deliciously sweet and paired perfectly with the bready cinnamon bun. Not the best I've ever had, but very yummy for a roadside truck stop.

Halfway between Denver and Cheyenne, Johnson's Corner has always been a stop for me in my travels. Day or night, I can count on reasonably priced basic, good food here. Regarding the cinnamon rolls, I grew up in Colorado and now live in Chicago and Johnson's Corner's rolls are at least as good as the sticky buns I've eaten at the Walnut Room in Macy's (née Marshall Field's). Above all, Johnson's Corner is a great place to experience our mobile society in all its many flavors. Where are all these people coming from, where are they going? Linger over coffee in the wee hours and maybe you'll find out where America goes in its shiny car in the night.

Yup, it's a truck stop. And to be honest, I prefer my cinnamon buns with a whole lot more substance and a whole lot less gimmick. BUT The middle-of-the-night service was extraordinarily friendly and attentive, the clean, shining, booth-and-U-Shaped-Countertop seating was epic Americana, and the coffee was fresh, hot, and refilled often. The breakfast menu looked tempting, as I am a total fan of Greasy Spoon Joints. I would definitely stop back here on a road trip if I were passing by.

We stopped here and loved all the great gifts and souvenirs they sell as they have a huge shopfull of items. We did not eat at the restaurant, but we bought $10 worth of cinnamon rolls, which they are supposed to be famous for, and we took them home to eat, but had to throw them in the garbage! They were STALE as a rock, and we could not eat them. AWFUL! I suspect the rolls had been sitting there for over a week in the package. I will not eat at their restaurant ever because of this...worry how old the food will be.

Another diner in the Northern CO area that lives off of its former glorious past (SG). A past I have never experienced. I am in love Mom and Pop diners that care about serving the best food. Unfortunately I have yet to find one in this area. I think from a prideful past, Johnson's Corner now has no pride in their food. Canned - from the gravy to the corned beef hash. Poor quality veggies including a very blah salad. The chicken-fried steak was actually ok - but the gravy over the top ruined it. The potatoes were worse. I think they were potato flakes. On several previous occasions I ordered breakfast - and the only reason why I didn't give this place a terrible rating. Well, that and the cool wait staff. I feel bad for them. They are so sweet, friendly and efficient. I just wish the food here represented how great those ladies are. The breakfast here is better than the I-25 IHop in Loveland (the only decent IHop in this area is the blue-roofed one on College Ave. in Fort Collins.) Very standard breakfast fare, eggs cooked on a grill with that oil/fake butter stuff. Large helping of hash brown potatoes with little flavor (again with the oil/fake butter stuff) and undercooked. Meh. None of the food stands out as great. I guess that's why I keep coming back. I'm looking for a "I absolutely have to have this again" moment. *sigh* About the cinnamon rolls: I reeeeally wanted to like them. Enough to go back again and again. Solely based on their reputation I kept thinking "I must have a bad batch". The bread to cinnamon ratio is way off. Such a large roll with not nearly enough rings. The bread is dry. Very dry. Very disappointing. I'm actually kind of mad because of how many of those rolls I bought trying (oh very desperately trying) to find a good one. P.S. PLEASE, oh PLEASE tv and radio shows stop giving Johnson's Corner good word of mouth about their cinnamon rolls. Pretty please? We need a GOOD 24-hour diner in this area. Any takers?

I have eaten at Johnson's Corner in the past it was ok. I just ate there yesterday. I will not go back it was terrible. Our waitress totally ignored us. Our food was cold. People came in afterus and were served well before our waitress even took our order.

We stopped here on our way to the loveland factory stores. I'd been hearing so much about these "world famous cinnamon rolls" that we just had to try them. OMG. Tasted like someone's old dirty athletic socks layered with gooey sugary paste on top. I'm not kidding. I don't think my dog would even eat them...and he eats anything. Anyway, as soon as we got there the lady took them out of some sort of "storage container" and then zapped them in the microwave. That should have been our first clue. But we hung in there anyway. A few minutes later as the "DING" sounded from the microwave...they arrived at our table. After one bite I was done...and my stomach hasn't felt right all day. My girlfriend is still pissed that I took her here. Don't waste your time here unless you're an idiot.

I heard about this place not long after I moved to Denver so I had to try it out. We kept hearing about the cinnamon rolls, and how can I turn down a famous cinnamon roll? So we made the trip to Johnson's Corner. Well, I was a bit disappointed. It's just your average, greasy diner, just in a truck stop with a big gift shop. The cinnamon roll was really big, not really all that good, and I can't say it was worth the trip out there. It was average at best, in general. I took my parents here when they were out because they have the craziest sweet tooth one could ever have and they enjoyed it. It is fun to people watch, cause this defiantly isn't Denver so the sights are a bit different that what we city folk are used to! The gift shop is fun to browse around in too.

This place is apparently pretty famous around town for their food, especially their huge cinnamon buns. I have to say that I've never said the phrase "I really want to eat at that truck stop" but it happened. I stopped in with my mother, sister and neice on our way home from the airport late one night. The menu is pretty basic and diner-esque, with breakfast all day and things like spaghetti & meatballs, burgers, and 'fish dinners". I love diner breakfast but decided to go with a cheeseburger, which the server told me what always fresh, never frozen angus beef on a homemade bun. She also talked me into the onion petals (like a bloomin onion, broken up). Both we amazing. The onion petals came with this sauce which I was told was their hot sauce mixed with ranch - I wanted to drink it. My sister's breakfast burrito was good too but a little dry. Something that stood out here was the service. Working the night shift at a truck stop usually calls for tired, less than enthusiastic service. However, our server Cheyenne was bubbly and as nice as can be, even after my neice threw up all over the table. Prices were not dirt cheap, but reasonable.

This is our weekly family outing for dinner, since it's right up the way from Johnstown. It's your typical greasy spoon truck stop, but with THE BEST CINNAMON ROLLS EVER!!! Seriously, they've been profiled on FoodTV shows because of them. My usual weekly dinner rotation is the green chile smothered burrito, the taco, or sometimes their reuben. My parents love the breakfast burrito, and my hubby loves the chicken fried steak. I've tasted all the above, and they're all great. The place is also great for kids. The noise level is just high enough that slightly loud children are not noticed. Usually, they're fawned over by the older couples who frequent there, and the waitresses and waiters as well. The food selection is good for kids, and always includes a drink, a side and a pack of oreos for dessert (and our waiters/waitresses usually know to sneak them to us so that they don't distract from the dinner). The service is awesome - they're always friendly and helpful, and since we come once a week, they recognize us by sight (which I find is always a plus). Finally, the store has the usual eclectic offerings one may find in a large truck stop serving traveling customers, with a Colorado tourist skew. I've picked up last minute birthday presents there more than once. Very convenient! All in all, if you're traveling I-25 in Northern Colorado as a tourist or a local, you HAVE to stop by Johnson's Corner. It's just a necessary part of the journey!

I had the opportunity to stop in for dinner at Johnson's Corner on my way back to Denver. I would have never found a place like this out in the country on Yelp. I actually tracked it down via roadfood.com . Going in the front door, I had already decided that I was getting the chicken-fried steak and a cinnamon roll for dessert. As Jamie L. indicated, this joint is classic americana. The kind of place your folks would have stopped at when they were dating. I was greeted promptly and placed my order. My food was out quickly and I dug in. My steak and mashed potatoes were absolutely drenched in gravy. So much gravy. I scraped a lot of it off so that I could get the flavor of the steak. The steak was good, and the potatoes were okay. I'd get it again, this time with the gravy on the side. My second side was applesauce, which was fantastic. It was chunky applesauce and it was all chunks. Which I liked. It was out of a can though, according to the waitress. I ordered the cinnamon roll for dessert. I made the wise choice to get the icing on the side. They literally filled a soup bowl with icing. The roll is decent without the icing. I think some butter would go a long way. As someone else mentioned, the icing itself is a little off. I couldn't figure out what it was, but I ate half and took the other half home for snack. And it tasted even better as a snack. Service was friendly, if a little slow at times. If I'm headed up I-25 in the future, I'll stop by, no doubt.

We went to this place as a post-NYE breakfast torture...celebration? I don't know. I know the service was terrible and our food took about 30 minutes to come. My friend's biscuits and gravy were cold, but they didn't really seem to care out of hunger. Their cinnamon rolls are pretty famous and I got a couple for friends to try (I haven't yet). I know most would expect a greasy heavy meal for a hangover, but what did I get? A tuna salad sandwich on sourdough with sweet potato fries (hey, it was almost noon). :) The fries were the best part, crunchy and not too thick or thin...I did not touch the gross smelling marshmallow sauce that came with them. The sandwich was pretty unmemorable flavor-wise, but the dressings of romaine and tomato were fresh. I like the huge gift shop!

It was cheap. My family and I stopped here to have one of thier famous cinnimon rolls. It was good and only $2.50. But it wasn't nothing to write home about. Cinnabon and my wife can make a better roll. The service was very friendly and fast and I will have to try a dinner or lunch there. Maybe that will change my review of Johnson's Corner.

Holy crap, how can anyone think those cinnamon rolls are any good? After a wonderful stuffing at Rio Grande in Greeley, I stopped here for the allegedly "World Famous" cinnamon rolls. Maybe if they mean like "tastes about as bland as any other cinnamon roll that is not "World Famous", 10-4 that good buddy. But Pillsbury in your grocer's refrigerated section is much better, and fer sure TJ Cinnamons' or Cinnabon puts Johnson's to shame. Yuck. This will not stop me though for going back some time for a chicken fried steak per Jennifer G's recommendation.

This is your pretty typical truck stop. Nothing out of the ordinary to me. I wanted to stop because we've driven by so many times and it always looks packed with people and for some reason I like to stop at truck stops. It's usually an interesting scene. They have giant cinnamon rolls, which I hear are very good. Unfortunately I don't have much of a sweet tooth and we didn't eat at the cafe (maybe next time). This review is only for the truck stop section. They have quite a few pumps to fill up at, so you won't be waiting long if you have to. The restrooms were clean and the store was nicely laid out. They also have showers and laundry facilities for you truckers out there. There is plenty of parking for the rigs too.

  • A Z.

It's a greasy spoon, but my eggs and bacon were better than your average diner joint. Split the gigantic cinnamon roll with my boyfriend and we both loved it. It wasn't dry like you'd expect, it was gooey and sweet all the way through. Maybe not a place to detour to if you're not driving by, but certainly a place to stop if it's on the way.

  • Diane M.

Just a fun place to go. We stopped here for breakfast. The service is really the best- very friendly. The portions are HUGE so get ready. Splitting is a great options. The food is great but it is the atmosphere that I really liked. It just felt like the place your grandparents would go. A real home town feeling here. There are phones at nearly every booth. What are they for you may ask? We did. Since this is a truck stop- they were used in the past so truckers could make phone calls. A true American truck stop. The Best. We will go back for a cinnamon roll- they look great.

If you drive through Loveland, CO and don't stop at Johnson's Corner for a homemade cinnamon roll, you should be arrested by the cinnamon roll police. Johnson's Corner has the most incredible, mouth-watering, heavenly, melt in your mouth cinnamon rolls you will ever eat. If you don't drive through Loveland, you should still be happy because Johnson's will even ship their amazing cinnamon rolls to you if you'd like them to. Trust me; they're that good! Their famous cinnamon rolls aren't the only reason you should stop into Johnson's, however. The last time I stopped through I tried their chicken fried steak and eggs, and let me just say that not all chicken fried steak and egg dishes are created equal. The breading on the steak was perfect. It was just the right thickness, perfectly crunchy, and smothered in a nice thick white cream gravy. Moreover, I didn't know that regular over-medium eggs could ever taste so special, but whoever is doing the cooking in the back must put a little somethin' somethin' into those eggs because they were to die for. If you really want to have fun, sit up at the diner counter with the truck drivers. Who knows, maybe they'll even let you wear one of their John Deer Tractor hats.

The short and sweet- Cinnamon rolls- overrated, Cinnabon's are way better Had the "modest meal" turkey with green beans and stuffing. For 7.79, I was full. Came with salad, albeit salad from a bag. The turkey was thick, a tad dry, but flavorful and abundant, even in the "modest meal". You would really need to be starving to get the regular size turkey meal. My girlfriend got hard boiled eggs which are hard to find in a lot of places and they came out relatively quick. Diet Coke tasted a little weird. Service was real quick and friendly.

The cinnamon rolls are the largest and heaviest I have ever seen. Other than size and weight, they hold no claim to any superlatives. In fact, I think they are awful. They are WAY too sweet and the pastry is doughy. I wouldn't eat one of their cinnamon rolls again even if they gave it to me for free.

    (1)
  • Jessie J.

"World Famous" is clearly a title they've given themselves. Dry, bland, and boring does not even begin to describe the rolls. The real best rolls are from the Frontier restaurant in Albuquerque, but that's a different review.

Just stopped by for the 4th or 5th time on the way home from an Eagles Games at the Budweiser Event Center. Love coming here for cheap home- cookin'. I don't care for cinnamon rolls, but the chicken fried steak is great, and I love the grilled cheese. The fries can be hit or miss, which is why I only gave 3 stars - last night they were chewy. But it's history and great atmosphere, definitely worth a visit when you're in the area.

Of course driving back from Fort Collins today my friend told me about the famous cinnamon rolls here so we had to stop off. We were hungry so we stopped to eat some late lunch here as well. Now don't get me wrong, I get that it's a roadside stop, and a famous one at that and by no means have I really eaten at a place like this but it was a typical place, nothing extra special. I got the open faced green chili burger which was good, nothing too rave about. The green chili and burger was homemade, good. The cinnamon roll was HUGE. Very tasty and moist. I really did enjoy it but nothing I would go back out of my way for. On the plus the staff is super nice and friendly.

Ahhh, the open road. The wind blowing through your hair, the comforting rhythmic feeling of the tires on the asphalt, the stereo blasting your favorite songs. There's nothing like a road trip to explore wherever the highway might take you, be it a couple of hours or a couple of days. Part of a proper road trip experience is truck stop dining on your adventure. Our family has been driving beyond Fort Collins to enjoy more of what Colorado has to offer - sometimes it's a day trip down to Denver, other times it's a outdoor expedition in the Rocky Mountains. No matter where we go, or what we do, we usually start the trip with a traditional visit to Johnson's Corner for some classic diner grub. Johnson's Corner is the best of the best of greasy spoons. It's simple, no frills cooking that it hits the right spot. Are you going to get anything gourmet here? Not a chance. But that's not its intended purpose. What they provide is a plate of down home Americana. While I don't think Johnson's Corner lives up to all of the media hype, I do think they are the best truck stop that serves a better-than-most diner menu. The majority of the menu items aren't anything special for the taste buds, but I can't think of a better greasy spoon experience anywhere else. Despite its average appeal, Johnson's Corner will always remain a road trip tradition for our family, feeding us for our journey as Willie Nelson says best - "goin' places that I've never been, seein' things I may never see again."

I love this place and have loved this place for many years. I got a chance to come back for breakfast recently and it was wonderful! My eggs were cooked exactly the way I ordered them (I'm picky about my over medium well eggs) and all of the flavors I remembered were there, just as expected. I hope to make it back here every now and then for a trip down memory lane and a nice hot breakfast. In contrast to my previous review, the place has developed a new personality with the new look but has retained the same vibe and even some of the same staff! I was really upset about all of the changes at first, but it seems that they were good all around now that the dust has settled.

Honestly you think of Flo smoking a cigarette and poring coffee when you think of truck stops, thats not really the case at this joint. On first official trip to CO I noticed this place was packed on my way back to DIA. I vowed I would return for their "World Famous" cinnamon rolls! So I did last weekend and honestly I wast super blown away. I dont know if it was all the talking up Ive heard or what but it was just a cinnamon roll. The food was just ok too. I mean way better then you would expect from a truck stop but nothing to write home about. That said, I can totally see the appeal this place has. You feel totally at home even if your not from CO and you have never driven a big rig. The atmosphere is super friendly almost to the point where you feel like your eating with family. All in all it wasnt bad, maybe just a once and a while place.

Such a great place to go for breakfast. The food is always perfectly cooked and I've never had to wait for a table. It would have been 5 stars if not for the fact that they've started skimping on the hash brown portions, I'm assuming because of the recession. It's a minor nit-pick but I feel it is a fair criticism.

Ok, there is only one time when this place is acceptable: When it's about 2:30am, you're coming down from being hammered, and you need greasy-spoon food. Outside of these conditions, why the hell would you subject yourself to this? P.S. World-Famous cinnamon rolls? WORLD FAMOUS? Really? MY ASS!

I ate here a few years ago and recently went back. Same food as before- big portions, homestyle diner food. I didn't order the cinnamon rolls but they looked good. I ordered the chicken fried steak which came with eggs/hashbrowns/toast (or biscuits and gravy). The portions were large and the meal was around $12 with tip. Again, just diner food..but good diner food at that.

Good food and fair prices. However, we were there on a Thursday night when they have a free slice of pie with a meal of $8.95 or more. Our waitress gave us our pie and then when we went to pay up front, the manager threw a fit that she gave us free pie without purchasing drinks. We told him that the website never said anything about purchasing a drink for the free slice of pie, so he said that our waitress was going to have to pay for it then! Seriously?! We just gave her a bigger tip, then.

Living in Johnstown, there is a lack of places to grab a quick bike. I go here for breakfast, and have been about 5-6 times. Though there usually is a wait, its never long for 2-4 people. BE PREPARED to eat when you come here. You have to order a cinnamon roll, and when you do it will be the size of your head, and you will most likely eat it all. I'm partial to the biscuits and gravy, never had a bad meal. Always attentive servers and the prices are reasonable.

After years of tearing past Johnson's corner at 85mph on I-25, a group of 6 of us came here for a late breakfast. Tempted by the legend of the cinnamon rolls, we started with one of those. My tip - split one for the table... they're huge (and good!) The breakfast itself is ok, especially if you want to meet your monthly quota of grease all in one meal. Still, this is a place I'd recommend everyone try once. The people watching is entertaining (at least for a bit), and the place is stuck in a time warp from the 50's or 60's.

We have been many times. But the service took around 45 minutes last night, AND they ran out of mashed potatoes??????? The food was so so, bland, and we were over charged afterwards. The hush puppies with the fish were raw in the middle, but we did not say anything since the kitchen and waitress were so behind. The sweet potato fries were the best part of the meal, yet a tad burnt.

Just for fun, we stopped here to try one of their famous cinnamon rolls. We wanted see what the hype was all about. To our pleasant surprise, the cinnamon roll lived up to its reputation. The roll was warm and gooey with just the right amount of glaze topping and it came with a side of warm butter. It was sweet, but then again this is a dessert roll. Service was great and the coffee was tasty. I can see us coming back and trying more things on the menu, the breakfast looked awesome.

Sorry to be a hater, but I was not blown away by this cinnamon roll. The frosting had an odd taste, the dough was off; it was just meh. The other food was acceptable. The waitresses were sweet and there was a glut of weird shopping to be done inside. But at the end of the day, not worth a special trip or anything.

So, I have voyaged here on secret missions I cannot tell you about three times in the month of bluerectangle. This used to be the only place that served a decent chicken fried steak at 3:30am. The cinnamon rolls that made this place famous are not as good as they used to be. I'm not sure what happens to a place when they decide to expand. Something just dies... Unfortunately, the same fate has played true here. I'm not sure if the 'old grease' is gone, or from health codes and HAACAP rules a place just doesn't stand a chance anymore, but for what ever reason, I'll keep Sapp Bros or Deno's 6 &85 in mind for next time..

The history may be great, but the food is disgusting. Rancid oil on the grill that toasted English muffins. Weak coffee, and the supposedly wonderful cinnamon rolls are floury but tasteless. Save your money you poor tourists.

Hungry? Want to eat? Want to be full when you walk out? Like huge cinnamon rolls that are swimming in sugary frosting? Enough said. One of my favorite memories is from when I used to duck hunt nearby and my buddy and I would get a cloud of fresh-cooked bacon scent that would waft over our cold and tired bodies around 7:00. Invariably we would leave the decoys and head over for breakfast.

The cinnamon rolls at Johnson Corner are quite simply the best in the world. It's worth the stop.

I am a truck driver and I stop here regularly, almost every time I'm through. More for the fenced-in dog play area they have out back, so my pups can stretch their legs :). But when I'm hungry, the restaurant IS one of the better roadside eateries in America. Now don't misplace your expectations- it IS a truckstop diner and the food choices are pretty much typical for a diner. But given that, I've always found the food AND the service to be above par. The night time service tends to be better, with a more easygoing pace and servers who will take the time to chat with you. My personal favorite is the French Dip sub, and if you're a fan of hot wings, this place has some of the BEST in the country. Breakfast is good too, my husband likes their omelets. Like some others, I'm really not a fan of the cinnamon buns. Too sweet, and not soft-ooey-gooey enough for my tastes...not even the center is soft and gooey! I make better tasting cinnamon rolls out of one of those Pillsbury "tubes" than these things. But who goes to a diner for a diabetic coma? If you can overlook the buns, try the hot wings and french dip, or maybe a burger....this place will be well worth the stop!

Food here is pretty good and they have a great gift shop! The cinnamon rolls are ok, but they have lots of that white sugary stuff on the roll which can make your stomach do somersaults. My personal fav cinnamon rolls is at the Silver Grill in Fort Collins.

We went because of the "World Famous" cinnamon rolls. My husband ordered the cinnamon roll and said it was just okay. I didn't eat it since I can't eat gluten. However, on observation the icing was a pure sugar icing without cream cheese. The roll looked pretty dry, especially in the middle. My husband also ordered the biscuits and gravy with eggs and hash browns. Definitely too much food, but he had to order the world famous roll. Good thing it was inexpensive. I ordered the vegetable omelet and they had no problem me subbing fresh fruit for the regular sides. The fruit wasn't too fresh. I tried someone else grapefruit and really wish I had gotten that. The omelet was okay. The egg was a little rubbery so I ended up just eating the vegetables out of the middle after eating rubbery egg for awhile.

World famous cinnamon rolls? Bah...... Look, I really like Johnson's Corner. I have a soft spot in my heart for greasy truck stop food, and this place definitely doesn't disappoint in that arena. Tasty greasy-spoon type of food, good portions, and decent service. I would never steer someone away from the place. But the cinnamon rolls...world famous? Pshhhh...please. Highly, highly overrated. They're mass produced. They're dry. And there are better places in the area to get a cinammon roll. (Three that I'd recommend over JC: Vern's, Silver Grill, and the mall. Yes, even Cinnabon is better than Johnson's Corner. WAY better.) So stop on in there and get your grub on, just don't go out of your way for the cinnamon rolls.

They just may be the best cinnamon rolls on the planet.

Unfortunately many years of good experiences here has come to an end. I recieved the worst service I have ever encountered as well as an extremely rude manager when asking to get a problem with the food addressed. The fish was tainted with some other food or substance. Upon making the manager aware, they were extremely rude. All 4 orders in my party were either incorrectly prepared, cold, hard as a rock, or tainted. It seems that an inept management has caused a once great place to eat to be lower than Mcdonalds.

Get a cinammon roll. You will love yourself. this place is an institution, if truckers love it, its good enough for the rest of us. Go for it.

Had some out of town guests last week. We took a day trip to Estes Park/RMNP via Loveland so we stopped here for breakfast. Decided to change things up a bit. My wife and I shared an order of biscuits and gravy. Damn, those were some good biscuits. They ought to be world famous for them, rather than the cinnamon rolls. By the way, our guests were from New Jersey. The diner capitol of the world. They loved this place. That's gotta tell you something!

This place is hilarious. Worth it alone for the people watching and awesome selection of keychains, t-shirts, and other ridiculous Colorado souvenirs. We got grilled cheeses and fries, so we were too full for one of the famous cinnamon buns. But word on the street is that the world famous recipe had been changed a couple years ago and they do not live up to their former glory. Truth? I'm not sure.... Don't forget to read the epic story of Johnson's Corner on the insert at the table. I left full, and stocked up on Colorodo crap.

In the world of truck stop food, this place is one of the best. So much better than the corporate slop at Petro and Flying J, and miles ahead of whatever Sapp Brothers serves. However, I've only had breakfast meals here, so the rest of the menu, including the famous cinnamon rolls I'm always too full to try, are a mystery to me. Best ham and cheese omelet West of the Mississippi. This is one of those places I'll plan my trip around to make sure I'm hungry when I'm in that area.

We love Johnson's Corner. I'm very picky about my eggs and I've never had to send them back to fix them or cook longer. Sometimes you get more food than you should eat, but it tastes so good. I'm not a fan of the cinnamon roll, but I think I'm the only one!

i was told that their cinnamon rolls are supposed to be the best in all the land. A friend of mine brought me one as a gift. I took it home and was up all night in anticipation of the gooey cinnamon cream cheese goodness all warm and toasty after being warmed. It was like sticking a sugar cube in my mouth. I don't think I'll be craving a cinnamon roll again in a long time. If I ever have one fresh, I may change the review..but only then.

Johnson's Corner is known for their cinnamon rolls more than anything else. However, I'm not a big cinnamon roll fan, so I normally just get their breakfast food. Everything I've ordered from there, has been great quality. It doesn't matter if you go there at 5PM, or 2AM, the quality remains great. Its really good truck stop food for a reasonable price.

I thought it was tasty but nothing out of the ordinary. The cinnamon rolls are huge, I shared one and there were still leftovers. They were good but not as amazing as everyone claims.

Their food is okay, coffee is great... The cinammon rolls, on the other hand.....ew. World famous? I think not.

I have eaten here about a dozen times over the years. I have never tried the cinamon rolls. The place is clean. Never a wait for a table. Friendly staff. Quick service. I have always gotten the same thing. The chili burger with green chili. I would like to try other things but this burger is huge(I can not even finish it), tastes awesome and is cheap, so I can't venture away. Quite possibly the best chili verde burger in the world.

I've eaten there dozens of times on my travels from the Denver area to Northern Colorado. It's not fancy food, but it's consistently good and reasonably priced. Their vegetable soup is very good and the daily specials are a very good value. Personally I don't care for the sticky buns, but many people rave about them.

Um, how you can call this "awesome food" I'm not sure! They do have great cinnamon rolls, that is true. But this is a truck stop people. Truckers stop here to get their trucks washed, take showers, take a pee, get some chow... you know! I came here a few years ago with friends to get some greasy onion rings, a slightly soggy grilled ham and cheese sandwich, and I would call it your typical greasy spoon. It's great for people watching, buying funny postcards and tacky Colorado paraphernalia. If you are driving through, you should definitely stop by this landmark.

We stopped here cause we saw the sign advertising "world famous cinnamon rolls". Man these things were terrible. I could break open a can of grands and they are better than this. Avoid this ploy of "world famous" at all costs, they are world famous for worst cinnamon rolls. You could stop at Safeway and get better ones from their bakery.

Food is not good and their cinnamon rolls are not great...certainly not "world famous". The service is what is really bad. I have never ad decent service here. It is a truck stop...not a place to take the family unless crappy service and sub standard food is your idea of a fun time

Yes, a great place to stop! Leave room for one of the cinamon rolls. It's a truck stop, but serves very hearty breakfast food. One of the best "greasy spoons" around.
