It's kind of hilarious to read reviews who rate this place low because it's a hole-in-the-wall joint. I'm not sure what they expected, but this place was pretty fun. Good atmosphere, friendly waitstaff, and how many people can say they've been to a biker Italian bar? If you want Olive Garden, go to Olive Garden! This place seemed really cool at first, but we went on a Saturday night and the service was sloooowwwww. Only two waitresses working, and while it's a small place, it took us almost an hour to get our food. I try to give any place the benefit of the doubt on typically busy nights, but they still couldn't call in others to work as well? The food itself was very tasty, though The Boyfriend was kinda disappointed with his gnocchi. The menu had it labeled as a dumpling that was stuffed, and instead they were rolled noodles in marinara. He asked the waitress, who said that's just how they make it. Strange. It's definitely worth the visit, though perhaps on a different night. Also, be sure to ask a lot of questions about the menu and what you want to order.

It's good. Their own take on homemade Italian. I'm pretty sure they make their own noodles and sauce. It's a small town dive bar, you know what you're walking into, so ignore the reviews who bash on the atmosphere. The staff has always been nice (I've been there 3 times for lunch and breakfast). Go have some all you can eat spaghetti and HUGE meatballs with some good garlic bread. You will not leave hungry!!

What the heck happened? I had a hamburger that had big chunks of tough meat in it and my husband had a prime rib dip that gave new meaning to a salt lick. We loved this little dive. The food was great but something has changed. The waitress was attentive and apologetic. Not her fault. The only reason I am critsizing the place is that I hope the owner tastes his food that is being served and fix the problem. We'll try again.

As described by others, this is a hole in the wall. However, the food is home made and MOST of it tastes great. The Green Chili and Minestrone soups were both great (I liked the green chili better out of the two). The garlic bread was superb. The main dishes were big so yes, you can get full here quick. My girl had the combo with meat lasagna and cheese stuffed ravioli. Both were awesome. I had the seafood noodles. Not good at all! The noodles were undercooked and hard for the most part...except a few areas on the plate where they were overcooked and mushy. The seafood was totally overcooked and dry. I suggest coming here for the soups, garlic bread and entrees that are made with meat and/or cheese. Stay away from the seafood stuff.

An Italian hole in the wall. Best way to describe this place. Which, if you know anything about hole in the wall restaurants, they normally have very good food. Pete's place is no exception to this. Their portions are large, so if you leave hungry... wow can you eat. I have yet to finish a meal here. All their food is "homemade" and fresh, it's nothing ground break or special it's just high quality. I haven't tried their Pizza yet, they offer a thick and thin (NY style) so I'm looking forward to trying that... but I have a hard time making it past their pasta section... one day... their Pizza will be mine! We have always had good friendly, however sometimes a bit slow, service. I always tip 15%-20% here because they earn it. My "standard" tip is 10% so they always go beyond standard service. As to it being a "biker bar"... ammm errr? I dunno. While I do ride a Harley, I'm hardly a "biker" nor have I gone there except once on my bike, normally I take the family in the SUV... so... yeah judge that how ever you may. If you think the Olive Garden has great food, then Pete's might not be for you. But if you long to have something that appears to have been made by a Grandma in her kitchen and your not afraid of a "biker bar" then you should really stop by Pete's and get something to eat.

I like this place. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. I've had them invite me to drinks sometimes. They are happy to see you and happy for your business. Worth mentioning lately. I love the pies. The owner's mom makes them. The soup and pasta dishes are also homemade. Tasty.

I will never trust Yelp reviews again. This is hands down the worst place I have been to and the Italian food is terrible. Our server was friendly, but much more interested in helping out her regulars than the newbies. My husband and I are building a house in Fredrick and decided to try a nearby restaurant to get to know the area around us a bit better. We stopped here because of the reviews we saw on Yelp. I was deeply disappointed. I might be a snob when saying this, but I was already a bit freaked out by the restaurant itself...talk about a 'hole in the wall' place. The only reason I didn't turn around and walk out was because 99% of the time places like this have wonderful food (though that 99% is normally recommended by friends). Being Italian who some how manages to stay somewhat gluten free, I was pleasantly surprised to see a Gnocchi option. Both my husband and I got Gnocchi and waited roughly 25 minutes for it to come out. When it did, I was shocked...it looked like little worms (not your normal looking Gnocchi small dumpling like pasta) ... the description also stated it was stuffed with cheese...I am still unsure how they stuffed these little things with cheese, or if there was any cheese at all. Still, I try not to eat with my eyes...so I took a bite. I instantly put my fork down and pushed the dish aside. The sauce (whom others have expressed is amazing) was terrible and the Gnocchi did not taste like well, Gnocchi. My first thought after that bite was...did someone drop the entire thing of salt into this sauce??? If there were spices in this sauce, it was completely masked by all the salt they added. Neither my husband, nor I finished our dishes...he did take roughly 7 more bites than I did. He quickly got up to pay the bill (which I felt we shouldn't have had to pay for uneaten dishes) and rushed me out. We ended up eating at Chick-Fil-A ... which not only tasted better (and I can't stand fast food) but I honestly think might have been more healthy for us. Do yourself a favor and skip over this 'hole in the wall' ... the only thing I would go here for is a beer and some people watching.

This is really a hole in the wall dump. I was really turned off when I went to use the restroom and found them making the meat balls and pasta right by the restroom door not even 5' away, maybe this is were the special flavor comes from. Will not ever go back, it is dirty!!!!!!

Step out of your comfort zone people! Like a biker bar is a bad thing - really? This place has the absolute best Italian food I've ever eaten. These guys run circles around the more popular and older Denver establishments. The sauce is so complex and thick, they must cook it at least a couple of days to get it to the consistency it is. And on top of that, it's spicy goodness in every bite (last time I had anything Chef Boy Ardee, the only thing I could taste was sugar.) The pasta is fresh - ravioli, spaghetti, lasagna, all of it just melts in your mouth. I've never tried their sausage because the meatballs are out of this world. They are quite large (one is plenty for me,) moist and full of flavor. As far as the people who frequent this establishment, they come from all walks of life - a fun, lively bunch who love and appreciate out-of-this-world Italian food that won't leave you broke. And the people who work there are great.

I think they changed management because the last time we were in there the wait staff sucked.. the food sucked.. and we both got sick afterwards.

One of my favorite Italian restaurants closed down about 2 years ago, Papa Franks- I was very upset. So you can image how excited I was to find out about Pete's Place! I'm not positive wether my expectations were high or it's been so long since I have had Papa Franks, but I was not ecstatic about the results. A few days ago, my husband and I traveled to Frederick for the sole purpose of getting Pete's Place. Since, it is a bit of a drive and we had other errands to run that day we called ahead and made a to go order. The meal we ordered was the same meal that we would typically order at Papa Franks - it came with the exact same things and was about the same price. By the way the interior of the restaurant half looked the same as what Papa Franks had. So from all this we were expecting similar food quality. When we got home we were excited that the homemade pasta was the same; they gave us more sauce that they did pasta, which was quite irritating. The sauce did not have much flavor at all, which was very disappointing it really tasted as if they opened a can of sauce heated and served it, no seasoning at all! The meatballs that we received were how we remembered for. Papa Franks. Overall we liked everything, BUT the sauce! There website made it seem like they were the same as Papa Franks (it said Pete's Place - Papa Franks, or the other way around) so I had assumed that meant the flavor would be the same. So, as I said I was disappointed, but I may have just expected too much.

It's a SMALL bar in a SMALL town....But, the food is actually pretty good. And you get a lot of food for the price. The staff is Always nice, and we just love their pizza!

A biker bar/Italian restaurant located in Frederick, CO, which is a farming town just north of Denver. The only other restaurant that we saw in town was a Chinese place and we didn't feel like Chinese, so decided on this place. I had two major highlights from my dining experience there. The first was that as we entered, I saw a farmer sitting at the bar in overalls and a trucker's hat. I've always seen farmer's portrayed in movies with overalls, but this was the first time that I'd seen one in real life. He did have a shirt on, which bummed me out. Because if he'd been shirtless AND wearing overalls, that would have been absolutely mind blowing. The second (and most prestigious) highlight was that when the waitress brought us our food, she bet me $5, that I couldn't finish everything that I'd ordered. I gave her my million dollar smile and said "Oh, don't worry" and slyly started working on my food. At the end, I was victorious and she said to me, "I didn't think you would really finish everything" and handed me my $5. One of the best dining experiences of my life. Note: I didn't keep the money. The experience was more than enough for me. The food on the other hand, was just alright. The prime rib that I ordered was pretty huge, which made me very happy, but was nothing special. The pasta dish, surprisingly, was not that good. The menu said that the noodles were homemade, but it just didn't taste right. One of the few dining experiences where the food was not center stage for me. I will never forget Pete's Place and when I came out victorious with my head held high!

Eek. Dark and dirty. Keep driving. Whatever they call pasta with spaghetti sauce would lose to Chef Boy Ardee.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
