I think Elsa makes the best Ethiopian in Denver. The vegetarian combo is fresh and not watered down.Just enough spice. The lamb tins is my favorite.

Ok. Interesting looking restaurant from the inside. Open from 11am to 1:30am. Service is OK. Bread was not served as hot as I've had it served in other Ethiopian restaurants. Salad served on injela was SOMEWHAT fresh. Overall ok. P.S. My other half and I were here for about an hour. I was done 30 minutes into my meal with my water feeling a little "parched" from the dry chili pepper. No refills whatsoever (interestingly enough, we were the only customers there so it's not like it was very busy.) I think I will continue to venture elsewhere for now when I crave Ethiopian food.

Amazing food! I loved the service! It was my first time having Ethiopian food and it was fabulous! Will definitely be back. The spices were amazing.

Lunch was incredible and unique. We weren't prepared for no silverware, but quickly caught on to using the teff to dip and pinch bites. Teff is a sour dough, sponge-like tortilla made with barley and wheat... and like nothing I've ever tasted before. We shared the vegetarian sampler and a potato/cabbage dish. The food was perfectly seasoned and was a nice combination of spicy, savory and fresh. Delicious. At the end of the meal, our waitress came by with a hot cast iron pan with roasting coffee for smelling. Wow, just wow Then, we were about to walk out, and the waitress came by with complimentary fresh popcorn and juicy dates. We're going back.

I would love to give Elsa's 5 stars but, alas, I have nothing to compare it to since this was my first Ethiopian experience. It was definitely a good experience, however, and I can honestly say I'm going back!I The menu isn't very big, but they have some breakfast offerings and then stuff for the rest of the day. I had the doro tibs-little bites of chicken in a tomato based sauce. It was served on a piece of injera with a little tomato and lettuce salad that was lightly dressed. You're also given a basket of injera to use as your utensils. I've heard tales about the injera before, and it made me a little nervous to try it. I found it pretty tasty, however! While some describe it as being sour, I think of it as being more tangy than sour. Our cutey patooty waitress, Azeb, said that one of the most popular dishes there is the veggie combo plate, so I'll have to give it a try the next time. It's a family owned place, and everyone was very friendly. All in all, it was a great experience of my first time with Ethiopian food. I have a feeling it will become a staple for me!

Very impressive authentic southern Ethiopian food. The injera as well as the bread was unreal. Very fresh and warm. Tasted as good as the one in Ethiopia. . We all order tips with chicken, beef, and lamp. I loved it, all and they were made to our specifications. I personally do not eat spicy food. It was perfect. It was as good as the one in the best restaurants in Ethiopia. The salad was very fresh. The portions were big and you could eat unlimited amount of bread and injera. In the end we had to take doggy bags. They also served a complimentary dish with lentils that looked like a pie and it was very tasty. All is home made from scratch. The service was great and you may say slow for the American standards but you have to understand the culture. Eating is not just to eat. Is sharing of food, thoughts and ideas. It is a ritual and has to end with coffee that is a ceremony of itself. I had a beer there, too. I recommend Amber which is a red made in Ethiopia and it is very different. We were very very happy. Do not forget that when you try something different you have to have an open mind and you have to understand the back ground. The location is good and there is parking. The decor is bright and a little eccentric for the American standards but this is how it is in their country. The music was Ethiopian and it was not very loud. It is authentic! Everything was nice and clean and the people are extremely polite and happy to help. Hospitality is a characteristic of Ethiopians. I highly recommend the restaurant and maybe next time I will try to go when they have live music.

Dinner was amazing. As good as anywhere else I've been in Denver. Had the veggie sampler and the lamb

Last night was the first time I'd ever had Ethiopian food and it was as delicious as the other reviews promised. We moved right down the street from this place last summer and were always interested in coming here, but never seemed to find the time. I'm so glad we finally did. We ordered beef, lamb and chicken dishes and all three were very flavorful and well prepared. It was a little disconcerting to eat with our hands at first (especially because I'm kind of a neat freak), but we quickly got the hang of it. We can't wait to come back and try the other options on the menu.

The food was great. Silverware is available on request, otherwise be ready to pinch your food with the bread. The homemade Ethiopian hot sauce is REALLY hot. The environment was clean and the restaurant wasn't too noisy. I was really impressed when Elsa came out to greet us after the meal and see if we needed anything else or if anything could be improved.
