Maybe I'm just a pizza snob. After traveling through Utah and ending up in Colorado we were grateful to find a town with a small variety of food choices. Yelp led us here. When we entered we were welcomed by friendly staff members and directed to a table. We decided to go straight for the pizza through they had a variety of other italian options. Here's what we ordered: a margarita pizza with half pepperoni and half mushroom and sausage. The pizza we made very fast (which as good because I was starving from the long day). When it arrived it wasn't exactly what I expected. I'm not a pizza expert but when I think of margarita pizza I envision a flat and thin crust. The crust on this pizza was thick. But the dough was good and it was seasoned well. My boyfriend and I agreed that the pizza was a 7/8 but the service and experience was a 10! I was conflicted whether to give this place three or four stars but overall we had a good experience. If I ever come back through Craig, Co I may consider giving this place another try.

This pizza is so good! They have a bunch of different kinds you can try told if you don't find what you like they can make a pizza slice for you. If you get a calzone they smother it with sauce which is great. I would recommend the calzones if they have them. Sometimes they run out so try to get there early lunch. I want to try their subs sometime because those look fantastic as well. Definitely a good place to go to if you want a quick lunch. It's not a sit down restaurant in the sense that you order at the counter then they bring it to you. They have a large back room too that could be good for events.

We liked Carelli's so much the first time we ate there that we ate there again the next night. The strombolis are awesome, our youngest claims the pizza is delicious and the sausage lasagne is also very good. (The strombolis are huge so plan on one for the table or plan on leftovers.) They have great beers on tap and serve large glasses of house wine. The back room is much more relaxing than the front room. Go early or make reservations, especially if you have a larger group.

Eggplant Parm. The sandwich, the dinner... Doesn't matter, it's the bee's knees. We always stop by this place at least twice when we're in town- it's definitely the best place to grab a bite to eat, hands down. It can be a little loud if it's busy but there is a quieter room all the way in the back if that bothers you.

I was traveling in Craig, Colorado and asked the front desk at the hotel where I was staying of any recommendations. They immediately mentioned Carelli's. I got the Gorgonzola Steak which is an 8 oz. USDA choice steak topped with melted Gorgonzola and drizzled with Balsamic glaze. It was served with some asparagus and a baked potato. The combination of the creamy Gorgonzola and Balsamic vinegar was amazing! For being a pizzeria in Boonieville Colorado, they sure know how to create a superior culinary fusion of flavors and quality ingredients. Even the side salad had wonderfully fresh greens. I wondered if they organically grew them in a greenhouse out back or something!

This is the best pizza I've ever had. The restaurant is a very nice place and the service is great.

Excellent beer selection from NW Colorado. Food is also tasty. Friendly and accommodating staff. Maybe a little expensive, but worth it. Nothing else seems worth bothering with in this town.

Outstanding place! I had the bleu cheese steak special, perfect. The Dirty Hippy beer rocks too. And I think we had the "embodiment of cuteness" waitress mentioned by another reviewer. Great experience all around!

Yummy. This place was a find. My colleague and I ordered pizza by the slice (which was nice to be able to do as their pies seemed to be a bit pricey - but were probably worth it). My co-worker also ordered a salad as well. They waited to make our pizza slices until she was done eating her salad. Granted, this was polite, but nobody asked and I was pretty hungry. Our waitress was super nice and the atmosphere was interesting and left us talking about the dollar bills on the ceiling for quite a bit.

"Warm, Sweet Horror" Driving. Mile after mile. Empty roads. Vacant lands. Dry wind. I felt like Clint Eastwood in the opening scene of "High Plains Drifter", only I had my Crown Vic LX with leather interior instead of a mare. And instead of seeing a sign for the town of Lago, I saw one for Craig. Craig is in northwest Colorado, somewhat north, south, east and west of nothing. But I like 'nothing' sometimes, and I'm beginning to like 'no one' even more. All of which is just another tile in that frustrating mosaic of warm, sweet horror I call my life. As Craig drew closer, signs told me to slow. Once in town another sign welcomed me, and I eased off the pedal of the Crown Vic LX with leather interior. I drove around a bit, looking for a place to eat, searching for the place with the most cars--usually an indication of a decent restaurant. I quickly discovered that place to be Carelli's. I parked in front behind a long, uninterrupted row of pick-up trucks and strode inside. Table to the left, pizza counter after. Row of tables to the right, more formal dining to the rear. No bar. Son of a bitch. That warm, sweet horror had struck yet again. But just then... The Definition of Cuteness came jogging up. All bubbly and eager as a beaver. Lean, willowly and blonde. The perfect ballerina. As I mentally deposited her willowness into a tutu I asked The Definition of Cuteness if I could sit. She led me towards a table on the right. I stopped mid-way when I saw the beers on tap. I looked at the offerings while The Definition of Cuteness sped back to me. "Which one do you like?" I pointed to one that said Dirty Hippie. "Is that a local brew?" "Yes, it's very popular." She was practically doing jumping jacks while speaking. "Do I look like a dirty hippy?" I inquired. "Oh, yes! People love Dirty Hippie." (I swear to Christ I thought she was going to do a backflip.) "No. I said do I look like a dirty hippy?" She laughed. "No. Definitely not." "In that case I'll have one." "Great! I'll have your waitress bring it over." "You're not my waitress?" "No." She pointed to a party of 8 which later grew to 12 or so. "I'm handling that group over there." So The Definition of Cuteness was not my waitress. What a tragedy. So I trudged to my table and was brought a Dirty Hippie by MY waitress--an amiable lass of indeterminate age whose name I can't recall. I asked for a menu and looked through the fare. All different styles of pizza. Entrees, sandwiches and salads. For some reason I honed in on lasagna. Honing in further, I selected the spinach variety. My order came with salad and garlic bread. I chose Italian for the dressing and sipped my Dirty Hippie. Meh. Not so great. Kind of a weak flavor. Should have gone with the IPA. Meanwhile, the Definition of Cuteness was bouncing 'round the room like a pinball. Taking orders, getting drinks, running food. What a performance. Bravo! I drained the Hippie fast so I could get to the IPA. I ordered one from MY waitress when she arrived with my bread and salad. Less than "meh" on both. "Gag" would be more accurate. Way too much butter on the bread and wilted iceberg lettuce. So much for picking a place with the most vehicles. Nevertheless, I'd eaten worse as well as having eaten nothing so I consumed both anyway. My IPA was delivered and was a marked improvement over the Hippie. As I pushed away the plate I caught The Definition of Cuteness looking at me from behind the counter. I smiled and looked away. Perhaps I was the one she'd been waiting for. The one who'd whisk her away from Craig, Colorado forever. Perhaps she'd seen me drive up in the Crown Vic LX with leather interior and knew FOR SURE RIGHT THEN that I was the one. It happens, Gentle Readers. It happens. But only to other people. Not to me. Because you see, that ever thickening miasma of warm, sweet horror just never goes away. It's my Poe's Raven. My Achille's Heel. My dreaded Kryptonite. It haunts me, my friends. But just then... My lasagna came. It looked good there on the plate. Took up a lot of room too. Nice sprinkle of parsley. Cheese and spinach oozing from the sides. Not a lot of tomato sauce either. A good thing in my book. Even though I'm half Italian(the other half is Drunk) I don't like a lot of marinara. Tends to overpower other flavors. I took a bite. Damn. That's good. Just the right temperature too. I guess I kind of blacked out for a few minutes because when I "awoke" the lasagna was gone and my stomach was bulging. MY waitress came over laughing and said, "I was going to ask how it was but I guess I don't need to now!" "That was really good. Thanks." I finished my beer and returned a smile to a nearby lady. I paid my tab in cash and headed out the door, not needing to look to know that all females eyes were upon me. Into a setting sun I left Craig in the Crown Vic LX with leather interior, the hot wind my only companion. Unless you want to include the Raven. Nevermore!

Michael F. Was so right. Our waitress, the Definition of Cuteness, was great and took good care of us. The food selections are varied and many. Our selections were all excellent and came out timely. We will definitely be back with the rest of the crew the next time thru Craig.

A two foot stromoblie!? Shoulda told us it was for sharing, but I guess we should have known. Trying to finish it was a task, even though it was very light pizza crusted. I had my own meal to deal with, the Tuscan Shrimp. The shrimp was also delicious with a brandy cream sauce. I recommend it. Two sided restaurant, casual in front more formal service in the back. Yum yum yum. If you like New York style pizza, this is the place for you. We had pizza by the slice and a panini sandwich. Both delicious! Wish I discovered this place sooner. Could possibly be the best pizza I've had in Colorado.

The best service around! You can't beat it- the entire staff was friendly and efficient and created an enjoyable atmosphere. The pizza (especially the crust) was great and so was the salad. You won't go wrong here!

So now that the new owners, Brett and Stephanie have taken over, this place is awesome. The most friendly staff ever. Amazing food, atmosphere, and drinks. Brett and Steph are true pro's. Craig, CO is very lucky to have them run this restaurant. Total Home Run, Touchdown, Goal, Eagle, all of the above.

This is good for lunch or dinner. It is a full service restaurant with a big patio for good weather. but only 6-8 tables inside with a bar that seats probably 4 people. It's good for a business or "go to town" lunch or a casual dinner or good take out food. The food and the menu are fairly predictable: pizza, italian food, good salads, calzones. However the quality of the food has a modern pizazz that shows the owners are trying to make this be a nice place, and it is. It is also a friendly place, so be prepared to be pleasantly social or get take out unless you can sit on the patio.

Top 5 pizza in Colorado! I was surprised how good this pizza place was. Staff was friendly as well.

I must admit I am a little biased, this is my favorite place to eat when I come home, we don't take advantage of the back more formal area often, we enjoy the upfront pizza bar area. The subs are my favorite but the strombolie (sp?) is good as well, it is a small town restaurant, so expect things to move a little slower and the servers to be more social than most are accustomed to

Good New York style Pizza. Great staff, fun place and good service. I would recommend it, has a good college bar feel up front. Nicer dining in the rear.

We had been on the road all day and were craving pizza so of course I turned to Yelp to find help with lunch. Carelli's had some good reviews so we gave it a try. When we walked in I saw what another reviewer said was the "front". It was mostly pub type tables with a great view out the front windows. Unfortunately, all of the tables were taken so we walked to the "back". On our way to the back we walked by the open kitchen. They had pizzas and stromboli/calzones that they must sell to go. I didn't ask so I'm not sure. They looked amazing. When we got to the back of the restaurant we noticed that it was still a pretty casual atmosphere but the tables were more like dining tables and it was set up cozy. There was only one waitress for the entire dining area (granted it was 12/23/11) so service was slow but she was very pleasant and poor thing was doing the best she could. We ordered a calzone to share. Thank goodness we did. It was enormous! My husband and I split it in half and then we still took an entire half to go with us. I think it was the Carelli Calzone. Lots of meat and cheese. The ricotta cheese made the difference. The crust was so good. It was almost buttery flaky. I wish we had a Carelli's near our home. We have another trip planned this summer that will take us through Craig and we will be making a stop at Carelli's on our way. This time I will be better prepared with a cooler to take leftovers with us.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
