I don't claim to be an expert on BBQ but KT's hits the spot for me

4pm on a Tuesday and the place was practically empty we didn't have to wait in line at all. I got the June Bowl with mashed potatoes and pulled pork. I really liked the mashed potatoes since they weren't too salty. The pulled pork was tender and comes with sauce on side as a default which is great. I love how they always have the sauce on the side. My husband was impressed with how tender and fatty the beef brisket was. I only give less star because they don't have very much variety. Wish they had more sides like green beans, collard greens, mac and cheese, sweet potatoes, wings, fries, etc. But overall, my opinion is this place is MUCH better than Moe's BBQ.

I have been to KT's many times and I generally get the pulled pork as I have tried their beef and it was not as good. So I tried their beef brisket sandwich with hopes that it would be better but still not so great. They over cook their beef and it winds up with a mix of beef and very thick crust that is more like jerky. The beef is dry and doesn't have that melt in your mouth brisket taste which it should so once again a fail for the brisket. KTs has been around a long time and this really should be improved. I have that I have to leave Boulder to get good brisket....

This review only pertains to the breakfast. I'm so excited that they are doing mornings now as a southern boy. It is one of the best deals in town for a well-made scratch southern breakfast. I had most of the menu and all the items are made with care. I have been there six times in the last three weeks if that speaks for anything.

We had them cater a 4th of July BBQ for us so this review is for the catering only. They were very easy to order from online, and they followed up with a phone call to confirm as promised. The caterer arrived on time and set up efficiently. She was very friendly and unobtrusive. We had them them provide chafing dishes and plasticware, but not servers. The food was better than we expected for the price! The chicken was moist, and the sides were all very tasty. We would definitely use them again!

The dinky portion might be forgivable with decent brisket, but now I know why the sauce was most of the weight in the bag. You need the sauce to re-hydrate the brisket. The sauce saves the review actually. Without the sauce, this would be a 1-star review. I'm going to assume I showed up on a bad day and had accidentally lousy brisket. They give you a pile of it with a to-go sandwich, so I brought the rest home. I've used it on a couple of things now & kinda want to see if I can find a jar of it. I didn't try any side offerings. I kinda wanted chips but 2 bucks for an extra-small bag of Lay's seems steep. I'll try it one more time - next time the pulled pork.

Ribs are meaty and smoked to perfection! Sauce was little spicy but not to much... The hot link was sooo good! Only bad thing, I wanted more the next day (Sunday) and they are closed...I need my meats!

Excellent BBQ in N Boulder. Tasty sauce and fast service. As a Texas I can really appreciate this meat shop in the thick of salad land.

Nice breakfast stop. I had the egg sandwich and my wife had the grits. We also picked up some extra biscuits. The atmosphere is super casual and the food came out quickly. My sandwich was pretty good and had a little spice to it. The biscuits were scratch made and excellent. The grits stood out. I didn't give this 5 stars only because I reserve that rating for a unique experience. This is an easy stop for a real breakfast when you are on your way somewhere. No complaints.

AMAZING breakfast bowls. I work nearby and stop in here often for Breakfast. The food is delicious and FAST! Service is okay, there is one very friendly guy who works most days but the rest of the staff hasn't always been super cheery. Not bad though! I'd definitely recommend this place for a quick breakfast to take out or eat in. Haven't had their lunch yet!

Decent meat for a non-bbq town. But no fried okra or potato salad as sides? Such a shanda.

I first started eating at KT's over 20 years ago when Kirk and Tricia first were starting their business out in that crumbling old house around 60th and Arapahoe with semi trailer storage out back. They then later opened the 74th and Arapahoe location in an former Caribbean restaurant. Fast forward some 20 years later when returning to visit family and imagine the surprise to see locations in Denver and Broomfield in addition to the two Boulder stores. Meal-wise, things have not changed much since then and that's a good thing. The pulled pork 'Pig Pile' is as good as ever, especially their original 'Elvis Style', putting the side of slaw on top of the sandwich. Both the tangy and sweet sauces are some of the most distinctive I've had and are great. To be clear, it ain't Rudy's, but it's damn good!

I happened to be in the neighborhood and thought I would give them a try one more time. Sorry I did. The meat was so dry I could hardly eat, their family meal that claims to feed 4 is a joke. It feeds two adults, and I'm not a big eater. The girl behind the counter, while friendly, looked like she could use a shower. I've convinced myself, I'm not going back again.

They serve delicious, quality food and have excellent service. Also the brownies are to die for ( not literally, please don't kill yourselves over the brownies.)

This place is disgusting- restaurant was dirty and depressingly empty. I went in to get take out for my kids and myself. I decided to just get the pulled pork sandwiches just for the boys as I really didn't want anything from there after seeing it. The pork was dry and sauce less! Neither one finished their sandwich. Oh and they were out of coleslaw at 7 pm. Really? BBQ without slaw? Just a dried up meat sandwich. Do not go there

Picture two recent arrivals from the DC area, driving north on 75th street in the dark and hoping to see Arapahoe before we pass it (again). We've been running around all day on strange roads and still trying to get our bearings. I had a headache and was starving, so when my husband accidentally turned too soon into the gas station instead of on Arapahoe and I saw a random sign with a pig on it, I immediately cried 'look, Barbeque! let's stop!" Anything to get out of the car for a bit. We found the parking lot and trooped in to stare hopelessly at the large menu over the counter. Fortunately a bunch of college boys were ahead of us and ordering meals served in a large styrofoam cup, which seemed an efficient way of serving messy food. I got the Pig Pile, Elvis Style, while my husband, who likes to try EVERYTHING, got what may have been a custom basket of three types of meat for him to sample. The people behind the counter were very helpful, the place was warm and bright and smelling of hickory. My pulled pork sandwich w/coleslaw was about what I expected, but the meat was dry. It was easily remedied by copious amounts of their mild sauce, which was very sweet and tangy. I suppose I'm used to pulled pork arriving already sauced. Hubby was satisfied with his meat trio dinner and especially the pork. Not the best I've ever had, but certainly not the worst! It's a good place to stop that's not a huge fast food chain if you're travelling between Boulder and Lafayette but you're too tired and hungry to decide on a restaurant. It's just rather difficult to get to if you're going west - you'll have to turn onto 75th and turn right immediately into the gas station. If heading north, turn BEFORE you get to the light.

Not good. Just plain not good. I got 1/3 lb of brisket ribs and pork shoulder. I gave my wife a piece of the brisket and shoulder and she couldn't tell the difference between the two. That's really bad!!! The ribs are terrible. The skin has some flavor and the meat is flavorless. The only reason it am giving 2 stars is because the sauce and sides are good.

Cool spot. Only been to this location. I'm an insta-fan. Guy in line suggested the June Bowl (1 meat 2 sides your choice haystacked a couple times) and then cashier suggested using slaw, taters, pulled pork and Carolina Mustard. I'm hooked. Sampled a few other meats and they were good enough that I'll go with the 4 stars . . .and going back for the June Bowl again and again.

Had KT's cater our rehearsal dinner. Well done! Set up and take down was on time and the person was professional. Food was tasty :)

New location but felt the food quality dropped. I ordered a pound of ribs and brought them home, they were so overcooked and dry. There was zero flavor. I thought the chicken was ok- but also pretty dry. The BBQ sauce is very good and helped make up for the dry chicken but there was nothing that could help the ribs. The beans are good but the coleslaw also sort of mediocre. I would definitely skip coming back here for my next night of takeout- two of us and it was $45 and because the ribs were so bad I am glad I ordered a pound of chicken.

This place is legit. Down to the strange Elvis obsession, John Wayne cutouts, twenty year old soda machine and bowl of toothpicks. The brisket is tender, the hot links are the perfect level of spicy, the slaw is amazing, you just wont find better BBQ. The owner definitely knows how to make the best of every type of BBQ you can think of from brisket to St. Louis ribs, to spicy, saucy hot links. Like so many other places that fall into the "hole-in-the-wall" category or close to it, the food can't be beaten by a three figure high-class restaurant; and in the end, isn't the food what it's all about?

We really enjoyed the food that we got "to go" last night. We tried all the different BBQ sauces they had and had a salad and a few of the sandwiches. Great prices!

For BBQ, KT's is disappointingly mediocre. The pulled pork sandwich I ordered was edible but otherwise uninteresting, and the sides of mashed potatoes and cole slaw - both of which were tastier than the meat - were small and insignificant. (To see how BBQ portioning is done right, check out Red Eyed Pig in Boston.) It also didn't help matters that the guy who took down my order seemed easily exasperated and impatient. I'm usually not one to get miffed about questionable service - I was once a waiter myself. But I had a lot of "did they really just say that?" moments in Boulder.

I have to go back here for some ribs, because I was only mildly impressed with the "June Bowl". Chunks of pork in beans (or whatever side you wish). This place was good enough, but I really need to go back for a Pig Pile. Or ribs. Yum, the bite I had of those ribs was delish.

KT's might never be recognized as food that is good for you; but for fans of BBQ, it's very very good! I'm a little surprised I hadn't reviewed KT's before, as it's been a regular lunch spot for years. After living in South Carolina for 12 years, I can attest that KT's is the real thing. While they serve chicken, I've never had it. The pork BBQ is all I've had. Sides are simple; portions generous, and you can't go wrong with the cheezy Elvis theme. Most employees are friendly, as are the regulars. If you are a fan of BBQ, you'll enjoy KT's. It's a tofu-free zone, which is refreshing in Boulder.

I've had KT's cater several parties in the past. It's delicious BBQ and I like their sauces. What particularly impressed me this time was that after organizing an evening gathering for a community displaced by a massive flood that mauled their nearby mountain town of Salina, KT's donated a substantial portion of the meal. Several Salina community members almost lost their lives in the flood, so this was an emotional evening and comfort food was just what they needed--and just what they got! They've won my loyalty.

So tell me: would you be more likely or less likely to eat a sandwich if it were entitled 'The Pig Pile'? That's what they call their pulled pork sandwich, and the name didn't deter me, but it did make me laugh... because why would you name a sandwich after something reminiscent of manure? Luckily, it didn't taste like manure. It tasted like good old tender, juicy pulled pork - if a little skimpy on the saucy flavor. KT's provides 3 different kinds of housemade sauces (Texas, Memphis, and Super Scary Mega Spicy Death.. or something like that, anyway - the idea is it's supposed to be really, really spicy) to put on your meat if the scoop they give you in the kitchen isn't enough. All of these sauces are pretty good (though the supposedly spicy one is hardly spicy at all) but they're a little watery and it's hard to pile your sandwich with them without the bread falling apart. I like their mashed potatoes (always red potatoes, and they leave the skin on). I LOVE their key lime pie - especially the crust that looks like wet sand but tastes like graham crackers and brown sugar. My only complaint is that those sides (and all sides) are tiny. All in all, a neighborhood restaurant that delivers acceptable BBQ at acceptable prices... and sometimes, when you've got a craving and only your two legs for transportation, that's all you need.

It's all about the sauces. They've got any kind you like, spicy, sweet, vinegary, ect. I really like the hot link sandwich with coleslaw and jalapenos. The beans are perfect! Get that as your side, you won't be disappointed.

Average food and it was pricey. The portions are tiny. They also don't have fries. They give you a small bag of potatoe chips.

The food was really good, I'm sure it would have been better if we could have found the place sooner for the take-out. It's on the backside of the plaza if you're looking. We got the pork, it was good, not the best, but since we are in Colorado and not the Carolina's it was pretty good.

Best little hidden gem in Boulder! It is the antithesis of Boulder in its healthiness. I'm always looking for a great places stuff myself and this never disappoints! Mix it up and make your own combo of the wonderful choices of succulent meats. Follow up with some Root Beer and you will know how it feels to walk in my shoes.

I love KTs!!! Their menu is simple and they don't have an immense array of side dishes like many BBQ restaurants in the Denver/Boulder area, but what they do serve is mighty good. They were my caterer of choice for a grad party in the family a few years back...and what a good choice! Not a crumb was left when the feeding frenzy was over. They have all the standard BBQd meats, and side dishes such as homemade cole slaw, tasty beans, mashed red potatoes, key lime pie in a custard cup, and others I must probably be forgetting. You can check their website for the full menu. The original KTs is the one on E. Arapahoe in Boulder. I think this was the 2nd location. I know there are others, but we've only been to this one. They use disposable plates & cups & plasticware. Only the red plastic serving baskets are reusable. They always manage to hire friendly and efficient workers. They offer counter service only, and have a nice little outdoor eating area by the entrance.

This is my goto BBQ place for quick satisfying food. I only get the ribs and pulled pork. Not always the most amazing juicy, tasty charred Q everytime, but pretty good most of the time. Not crazy cheap pricing, but reasonable for the portions. Love the flavor of the mashers, slaw, and the tangy sauces. When very fresh, their cole slaw is really tops! Their mini key lime pie cup is also another simple treat. I mostly take out. They have a small amount of outdoor seating, but I found it not very clean (mmm, bbq grease) and totally lacking ambience. Why sit facing east and 13th St when you can have a nice view of the flatirons from the other side of this strip mall?

When I'm feeling a bit naughty in the food department, I pick up the large June Bowl to split with my partner. Copious amount of tender meat, mashed potatoes, coleslaw and bbq sauce goes straight from the lips onto the hips. I never get the beans... its really just filler, put more meat or potatoes I say. Never been disappointed with the June Bowl and its ample enough to feed 2.

I think they have great food. Their hotlinks are amazing. The brisket is on par. The sauces assuming you choose them correctly compliment the meats.

KT BBQ is no-nonsense, real good BBQ. They cook/smoke the meats in their store, and serve it up hot and delicious! Other places charge for fancy sit-down booths, wait-staff and other non-bbq amenities, but KT BBQ is all about the food. Kirk and Tricia strive to make some of the best BBQ in Colorado, and they do a fine job. Slow roasted meats (Pork, Chicken, Hot-Links) with full flavor and some excellent BBQ sauces are the main course, but be sure to get some of their special sides - Coleslaw, Black Bean Chili, Mashers, and for dessert: Key Lime Pie, and baked on-site Brownies. If you like authentic, tasty, messy, real BBQ, do yourself a flavor, and stop in for a meal at KT BBQ. You won't be disappointed!

Hooray for more great BBQ! I really like this place - it's close to my work, it's SUPER fast, and the food is delicious. I may be having a not-so-secret love affair with their mini key lime pies. I get the basket, with either the pork or chicken, and cover it in even more delicious sauce as soon as I get it to my table. The inside is charming, and the patio usually has seating available. Just writing this review is tempting me to head down the road and order some heaven in a cup.

Mediocre at best barbecue but cheap. If you really like this place then please at least give Daddy Bruce's a chance before you go to kt's again.

Best BBQ in Boulder, hands-down! Wait until Wednesday to go and try out their black-bean chili that they only have once a week. My favorite meal is just a cup-o-pork with 'hotlinks' and the sweet sauce.
