This place rocks! They play great music at night and it's always live. They feature tons of great artists from around the valley. A suggestion is make a reservation because once we are at dinner and it was filled and the other time we had dinner there it was almost full. I've eaten lunch there many times. My favorite dish is there shrimp dish available at lunch. And there is a full bar there too. You can sit inside our outside. And there desserts are amazing! (Because that's what there known for!) they have quite a selection of pies and cakes and sometimes cookies too. There food is great! 5 stars for this place! I'd eat there again any day even after having eaten there tons of times.

After hearing thoughts on this place from my friends I decided to give it a shot. We went there for lunch (3 adults), it was hot summer afternoon and the restaurant was not busy at all. Our waiter didn't even said Hi but just handed us the menu's. Later he was taking notes on our orders but still get back twice to ask again on what we ordered and the order was very simple. I had to wait on the check for about 10 min and finally I went to the cashier to pay. Also I think it was pricey. Not coming back.

Seriously great service but the chicken pot pie was a disappointment. CP Pies should be in my view, creamy and delish - not acidic, missing the chicken or bitter. I couldn't wait to get to my own kitchen to make my own CPP, one that was balanced with equally creamy pot liquor, veggies and chicken. The salad was incredible so next time I will know. Skip the desserts - as they are weak but what a setting and such faithful service.

Ate here while staying in Snowmass - best meal of the trip. Older crowd, with live music (Thurs - sat?) hopping bar scene. (in Basalt?) Ordered the mushroom soup - fantastic, and the ropa potpie (tasty) My wife had the chicken pot pie (also very good) - both came with a side salad (get the basil vinaigrette - really, really good.)

Positive: Great classic eggs Benedict, creamy hot chocolate, deliciously moist pistachio cake Improvements needed: waiting service and general friendliness, heating in the main dining area, and there needed to be a greeter/hostess to welcome us I'd return here for the food but not for the service. I'd recommend a service overhaul.

Very quaint setting . food was to di for . we ordered the Wagu Beef Chili omg was that good !!! Also for dinner we had their specialty pies. The Chicken pot pie and the Shepard's pie . they were the best I've ever had . this place is a must visit . leave aspen and all the tourist traps and head here. So worth the drive.

Delicious comfort food kicked up a notch. Extremely friendly and attentive service- water glass was never empty. The chicken pot pie was great, as was the brie en croute, wild mushroom soup, and tiramisu. I'm salivating just thinking about the meal. Very inviting inside on a cold, rainy night with a warm, cozy ambiance. It really cheered up a gloomy evening. I was also busy staring out the window at their awesome patio that we will definitely be coming to when the weather is warmer!

We were a bit skeptical of a restaurant featuring pies, but despite getting a few different items, the pies were in fact amazing and the highlight! The chicken pot pie is definitely the best I've ever had, and the key lime pie was close as well. Other dishes were decent but not as memorable. We were there on a Thursday night and there was some live music (keyboard and singing) and a slightly older crowd. Not a fun, hip place, but the food was totally worth the visit.

Three visits; three fantastic meals. I have not had a chicken pot pie anywhere as close to as good as this one. Spinach salad is above most other salads even in Aspen. Brie app is fantastic. Save room for the deserts. Service is timely, but the quality of the staff is average even for a small town. No smiles, and they need to disguise the appearance of being rushed. You get the feel they are used to the same locals, and you get a sideways look when they don't recognize you. They just need training, and the food far outweighs this limitation. Reservations absolutely suggested on almost any night.

5 stars all the way!!! This is one of the best restaurants I've been to in a long time. They clearly know the value of butter. This is too delicious to be diet food. Amazing pot pie of course but also the mushroom soup and pistachio cake were phenomenal. Good beer and wine selection and exceptional service. I love this place and will be back every chance I get.

We had one good meal there - pot pie and some tapas. Then on our second trip there we were a party of 8 adults and 7 out of 8 entrees (I got to try all) were pretty awful. We had one of each kind of pot pie except one and they were all disappointing. Their signature chicken pot pie had a weird sour taste. If you're expecting a traditional pot pie with a creamy sauce then this place is not it. Desserts look awesome, but I've never tried them.

Excellent service for my friend and me. We had a Mimosa and a couple of coffees. A couple of flies flew around as we ordered. A waitress tried her best to swat at them. My latke eggs Benedict was good but since the waitress didn't ask, I forgot to mention how I like them cooked. The crepes were average but the waitress offered chocolate syrup and strawberries if I wanted it. The stuffed French toast was "like a 4.5 but not enough food for a meal." The potatoes was minor portioned but good. Pictures attached.

These folks were great. The delivery men were fast efficient and courteous. And when we thought we had a problem with the washer they scheduled an appointment for the very next day. The repair man was very efficient and courteous especially when it turned out there was nothing wrong he did not belittle or berate us for not being able to figure it out on our own.I will recommend them to anyone that I know that needs appliances.

Went here on the advice of our property owner - of all the local places she recommended, she was most enthusiastic about this place. Three of us went on a Sunday afternoon - had the chicken pot pie and eggs benedict. Pot pie was really good, but not great. Adult son gave the eggs benedict 4 out of 5 stars; however, the hashbrowns were overcooked and dry and the "fruit salad" was 3 pieces of less-than-appetizing-not-fresh-fruit. The side salad that came with the pot pie was a bed of mixed greens tossed with a most amazing basil vinegarette dressing. When I commented on how good the dressing was, the server said it was made by a local and is sold at the nearby Whole Foods. Loved this tip and upon leaving, immediately went to the Whole Foods and grabbed the last bottle on the shelf. The server said the gal that makes this lovely dressing used to be a partner of Heather's. The rest of this review will show why I thought the partnership could have soured relationally, but who knows? Hot chocolate was not homemade (why not?), although the cream on top was. Eh.. Coffee was slightly burnt, or strong, or something. I was able to mask it with the half & half provided;however it was very cold, which made the coffee cool instead of hot, which I don't really mind all that much. Homemade pistachio cake was delish. So that's the food & drink. Now for the service - the best way to describe it is aloof/indifferent/abrasive. We're nice folks - my son, especially. He usually wins people over pretty quickly, but this server was a challenge. Maybe she's indifferent to tourists. That happens sometimes. Food was good enough to score a return visit, which would actually be viewed as a second chance for Heather's to redeem their service. C'mon Heather's, we're rooting for ya!

Stopped in Basalt on the way to Vail after spending a couple days in Aspen. I had a turkey panini which was very good and my wife had a gyro that she also liked. Service was good and it is a nice place.

The food here is exceptional! I read a comment on Facebook from a Kiwi friend who wrote that she hadn't eaten a better lamb pot pie since leaving New Zealand - I went later that night and was blown away by the food. Service is, sadly, the only reason it's not a five-star review. Standard & poor Basalt service, but the food is so good I'll put up with it and still go back again and again.

Just spent New Year's Eve w the great folks at Heather's. Great food and lots of fun for all. Heather herself was mingling w the guests and everyone seemed to love the food. Rene as "El Jefe", keeps everyone happy and the wait staff attentive to your every need. We also had lunch there earlier in the week and had a GREAT Savory Chicken Pie that was just so tasty. Flaky crust, lots of great White meat and veggies! Best overall restaurant in Basalt!

What's there to say, it's near perfection!! Whether you want healthy, super-fresh ingredients on a salad, fresh gazpacho (oh, please share the recipe for your tomato gazpacho!), delicious tapas with fresh scallops, savory pot pies (4 different fillings), unbelievable specials, or even a grilled pork chop or risotto. The menu is small but everything I've had has been extremely fresh. The only thing I wouldn't do again is the pate, it just wasn't my style. But the rest of the menu's ingredients taste like they just came from the farmer's market that afternoon. So, kudos Heathers, on the amazing, fresh, delicious foods. My only 2 complaints: Service is notoriously VERY SLOW. If it were otherwise, I'd def give Healther's 5-stars! Also, it can be rather expensive. The pot pies are $15 each. And the other day I took out 3 pot pies and one kale salad and my bill was NINETY-FIVE dollars! I think that's because we subbed kale on the pot pies - which cost us $15 extra! Anyway - it can really add up $$$$. Now for the atmosphere: Everybody from Aspenites to local Basalt folk, old and young, local fishing guides to tourists. Enjoy taking the delicious pot pies home (Take and Bake) or eat on their lovely patio covered with flowers and colorful umbrellas. Saturday night listen to the incredible talent of Chris Banks - you will want to dance with everybody else! Is there any instrument he doesn't play? (But clearly don't show up unannounced in the summer on a weekend and expect to get seated right away!) Heather's claims comfort-food, but it's also premium quality and beautifully executed. In fact, many dishes even remind me very much of French cooking with a delicate balance of meat, spices, and vegetables without a lot of the fillers restaurants try to get away with. But due to the freshness of the ingredients, Heather doesn't have to be too heavy-handed with salt and butter, which is appreciated. Portions are reasonable, you never walk out feeling stuffed on fillers like potatoes or rice. Well done!

I've been here only once but I really don't understand all the comments about the service. We came in without a reservation on a Friday night, severely under-dressed for the place (ski fleeces and all) and they just had an open table and we were seated immediately. Every single person who waited on our table was incredibly friendly. It seemed like every person with some affiliation to this place came over to inquire how we were liking our food. The food was great, although to be fair we didn't try much other than two entrees (the sirloin and the trout).

Went to Heather's on the advise of the only Aspenite I have ever met, Merlin, had a bowl of wonderful soup, Mushroom dreamy, Went back for dinner, fully booked but sat at the bar and had great service and a wonderful meal, the grilled shrimp over grilled romaine with green goddess dressing was divine. The grilled salmon was equally delisious. We are going back to eat at the bar tonight, I ordered a Peach Pie to take on the plane tomorrow. We will be invited back. Rene & Heather do a great job. Cheers to them.

Almost. That is the one word that best describes this place. I have dined here several times, and each time I leave with the same impression: meh. Most recently: Nice ambiance. We sat down outside, and it was a lovely evening with attentive, straightforward service, no frills. The food is almost good. We started off our dinner with a paté that is supposedly made with worcestershire, mustard, cloves, nutmeg, cayenne, grated onion, calvados and currants. Perhaps that is the case, but all you could taste were liver and herbs (sage and tarragon?). The herbaceousness of the paté was overpowering. Accompanying said paté they serve diced, raw red onions (which only accentuate the green ugh-ness), pickles (which worked) and carrot sticks. Carrot sticks? This is not hummus people, carrot sticks and paté do not work well together. For entrees, my wife had a scallops dish, which was pretty decent, albeit suffered from a lack of seasoning. I had their famous Chickon Pot Pie, which was alright, but again, needed salt. Were it not for the lack of salt, the crust would have been tasty, but instead lacked any 'pop'. The cranberry sauce served on the side, which in general is one of my favorite things to eat, was terribly acidic and made the bite of pie taste like bile. Yummy. Not only is the food so-so, but the beverage list is mundane. I can usually find one or two things in each category I would like to order, but not a single wine or beer of interest was to be found. No microbrews, no unique grape varietals, and boring bubbly. So sad... The one thing this place has going for them is their desserts. They are the only reason I will be going back to this place, as I have had them on several occasions and as a whole loved them. If Heather's only served dessert, they would be getting a solid 4 star review from me. Key Lime Pie, Carrot Cake, Eclairs, Cherry Pie, you name it, they make me want to eat it. I want Heather's to be awesome, as it has a great location, great ambiance, and they know how to finish off a meal right. It's the whole food and booze issues that don't work well.

I've been coming here since she's been open. There has been a number of times they have gone over and above what they needed to. Super friendly and great customer service! I am not a local but am a repetitive visitor.

Just passing by Basalt at dinner time on the last evening of our 42nd anniversary trip to Colorado. We stopped in at Heather's because it had attractive outdoor seating and the friendly staff drew us in. The service was good and every bite was memorable. From the chilled gazpacho, to the perfectly dressed salad, to the lamb and egg plant shepherd's pie, we were pleasantly surprised. We stayed for the live jazz music and made some new friends. Lovely people all around--and the singer, Kathy and her pianist were excellent. I wish Heather's was just a few minutes from home instead of many hours. Heather's was a real treat.

I don't give 5 stars very often. This place was an awesome find. Staying in aspen, wish we were staying in basalt so we could eat dinner here too. Will be back next time I'm on this side of the rockies.

Heather's is an affordable, gourmet dining experience tucked away in the adorable town of Basalt. Much of the food on the menu has a flavorful southwestern flair. Last night, for example, I ordered the pork tenderloin. It came wrapped in a corn husk, was rubbed with something that delivered the perfect amount of heat, and was accompanied with a truly delicious cherry salsa. The gorgonzola polenta side dish was to die for, and is definitely worth a trip from Aspen just to try it. My husband had Heather's savory chicken pot pie, her signature dish, and he loved every bite, especially the crust. Ambiance was funky and friendly. Service was great. Wine was a cut above. Highly reommended.

The food may be good, but we weren't able to find out because the service was non-existent. We arrived and were seated, then sat there for 15 minutes seemingly invisible, as no one showed up to even take a drink order! The guy who brought the water noticed we had no menus, so he brought some over, but we never saw the server until we were walking out. This was apparently their first night serving dinner, but I can tell you that they're not ready for prime time!
