My favorite white 'Mericanized Mexican food is chimichangas. When done right, they are lovely, but when they go wrong, the results are disastrous. Luckily Ophelia's does them right and it was a delicious mass of greasy American goodness. I sat at the bar and I didn't experience any of the service problems that other people have mentioned, but I did come at lunch and there were only a few other tables occupied there. It's one of the places that have business for a few generations, and it looks like not much has changed since the original design of the place. With its prime location in Olde Town, my guess is if they dropped a little change to spruce the place up, they might get a little busier, even in the day. I think they're much better foodwise than Fuzzy's, but that place is much brighter and inviting than Ophelia's is.

Old ham and egger turned into a Mexican joint. I was told "grandma" makes all the food fresh in the morning. Makes sense - the green chili was fantastic and quite spicy. But the taco meat was really very dry. After sitting alll day, no wonder. I like this place for the hints of the old school. I was told it was once called "Ralph's Cafe". The original circa 1950's formica countertop remains. Not really big on the food, but the nostalgia is nifty.

We've been going to Ophelia's for breakfast for years. Their green chile is tasty and breakfasts are consistenly good. Service is slow however so we don't go if we're in a hurry. We went there for dinner once, but the service was so slow we vowed to never go back. We've talked to the manager many times and she doesn't seem to understand why Ophelias isnt busy while the rest of Olde Town Arvada seems to be hopping. It isn't because there are new restaurants opening up nearby; they aren't stealing your business. It is your service! There is a sign by the door when you walk in that says, "we're slow but we're worth it." Nothing is worth service this slow. Get some help! You may think you can't afford another employee, but I think you can't afford not to have one. Olde Town is getting busier all the time. Fix your slow service and you will get a bigger piece of the action! There is another Mexican restaurant in Olde Town with excellent service, but we really want Ophelia's to stay around for another 25 years!

I've been here a total of 3 times, I do feel the food is good, the service is consistently horrible, and I mean horrible with a capital 'H'. The folks that work here have always been unfriendly and stand-offish, why? If you want repeat business, wouldn't it be a good idea to treat customers better?

We had breakfast here a while back and was unfortunately unimpressed. We were hoping to find a cool local hole in the wall breakfast spot to get some good huevos rancheros but we'll unfortunately have to keep looking. The biggest problem was their grill was way too hot to be cooking eggs on. Everyone who had eggs with their meal got them extra crispy and their idea of scrambled eggs was to break them in a pan, break the yolks and mix it up a bit. It's not hard to do eggs right. They're supposed to be cooked on low heat. Scrambled should be beaten before going into the pan, maybe with a bit of milk. The other thing that sticks out in my mind was the cheese. They use the fake orange Velveeta squares. That looks anything but appetizing on top of your breakfast. I might try this place again for lunch or dinner and hopefully update my review for the better then but I'll pass on breakfast.

I've been coming here for 20 years the breakfast burritos with pork green chili is the best i've ever had. So good that we put it dry ice and send it to my sister in Florida. Gena and Gaspar own the place and provide the best service you'll find anywhere. I'm a Colorado native and have had a lot of Mexican food over the years - this is absolutely the best!

Ok, it doesn't look like much, but this place is awesome. The guac is great, the margaritas are strong, and Wheel of Fortune was playing on the tv. What more could you want?

Geez, I very rarely do this, but this place is just awful. The food was less than fair and the waitress was straight up rude to our family. She was the only person seen in the restaurant and even though there were only 2 parties in the place, it took forever for our food that was obviously from Sysco. Chips are better at Taco Bell. I mean, seriously.

I have been going to Ophelia's since I was in diapers and continue to go there every time I'm in town. Love this place! The mailman burrito is named after my Dad when he was their mailman back in the 80's. I always get the mailman and add sausage to it. Eggs, beans, and sausage inside a tortilla, smothered with delicious green chili. Always right on the money, I have NEVER been disappointed. So, so good. Hands down my all time favorite breakfast burrito!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
