Ate here today, 7/28/2013 @ 11:00 am. The place is OK and the ambiance is kinda like Nostalgic but you'll feel comfy. Their Menu is simple, i ordered one of their specials w/c is the Chicken fried steak + 2 eggs any style and some toast and roasted potatoes + a good cup of coffee for a total of $10.49 + @1.50 for tip...Not bad considering the amount of food you get here w/c is generous for one hungry person. They also served Mexican food for breakfast and lunch as well. No complaints here, i specifically went here instead of going to Denny's or IHOP. I would rather support the private Mom & Pop family owned business instead of the Corporate owned business if i could get away w/ it. The food is good, service is great + a very homey feeling when you eat in this joint.. I just don't know why some fellow yelpers say bad things about this place, probably they're expecting IHOP or Denny's diner like service well this is a Family owned business and you must forgive their shortcomings. They're trying believe me but you got to give them some leeway when this joint becomes busy for there are only 2 servers doing all the work so you can't expect them to do what you like your way all the time so please be a little considerate. i'll eat here again for sure!

Great food, great breakfast place. Nice people, great service. Sits right on an island off Jackson.

I believe this used to be a regular coffee shop in a Swiss-style chalet, but now serves Mexican food as well. Friendly service, but can't say it was efficient since there were only two other parties there when I was there. My chile verde burrito was just fine. There's on site parking.

Jeeeze- So I ordered a breakfast burrito today, and went to get it $8.76!! The burrito was OK kinda small, especially for $9.00!! I will NEVER order anything from them again!!

I love this place. Great Mexican breakfast served! It tastes like mexican breakfast at home! Yes that authentic! Can't go wrong with memo's omelet and huevos la mexicana and add meat if u want. The pancakes are awesome too! Tostadas are good too. Haven't tried everything yet but I'd rather come here than Ihop or Dennys.

Cute spot right there on the corner. You can have your meal at the counter or at a table. They have daily specials, wine, beer and they serve breakfast... I think, everyday. I had the Huevos Rancheros on special for a $1 off. Very, very good. I'd come here again to try out other breakfast items. They have a sign saying they're doing their part to conserve water and will only serve water by request. I can appreciate that. Friendly service.

Stopped here for father's day I hate crowds and this place was empty when we arrived . Good food, friendly staff, and a good price.

Good food, nice people, good prices, good portions [I always have leftovers], but could be a little cleaner/neater.

Good Mexican food. Not the cheapest BUT the Machaca.....JUST LIKE MOM MADE!!!! FYI Machaca(muchaca?)hearty breakfast including meat and eggs will keep you satisfied until lunchtime. They used to "make" their chips but last time we went they gave us like Tostidos, Ewww. If not for that they would have gotten 5 stars. Nice atmosphere too

I've been so curious about this place every time I drove by it to and from work. There always seems to be a good amount of people eating here so I convinced one of my friends to drive over and try this place for a nice Saturday brunch. The choices on the menu is pretty much standard American breakfast or Mexican eatery. We ordered from the special of the day menu and got a fairly good size serving for half the price off of the regular menu! The food we ordered just tasted like a regularly home cooked breakfast so if you are in a mood for a no-fuss meal then this is the place to go. Service is quite slow since I think there is only one waitress working the whole room and after she had taken and given us our food, she never came back to check on us if we needed anything else. It would've been nice if she came back to give me an option to ask for some more coffee but we couldn't even get her to glance our way. My friend and I had to figure it out on our own that she wasn't even coming back to give us the bill so we just went straight to the counter to pay. I'm curious to try the other stuff on the menu so I'll give them another try some other time. Maybe it was just an off day.

Not fancy at all, but I like this kind of small businesses. The service and the foods are good, I love their hash browns, sausages links and you've got to try avocado sandwiches. We have been to this place several times, and we like it. If you care about the fancy attire and super friendly service, I really don't recommend it.

While looking for some breakfast the Fiance and I decided to stop off at Anna's Family Coffee Shop. Located off of Jackson, Anna's Family Coffee Shop sticks out as it has this odd Swiss Log Cabin House feel to it in an area where you wouldn't expect this kind of place. We decided to step in and the place was pretty much empty so we were able to find a seat. The decore here again is kind of weird mostly because on the outside you're expecting European but on the inside you get the feeling that you just sat down in a Taqueria. Upon seating down, the waitress came and gave us the menu. The menu reflexes a cross between traditional Coffee Shop favorites and Mexican Food. So you can expect to get all of your classic coffee shop items such as bacon & eggs, scrambles, various type of grilled sandwiches and burgers, as well as several mexican options too. We went through the menu and I was disappointed in the prices as they seemed high for both the location and for breakfast. Other than their $6 2 egg special (most places it would $4 - $5) breakfast you're looking at $7 - $10. If you go to the sandwich/lunch options, you're looking at $7 - $14 depending upon what you order. Also for you vegetarians out there, there are really little options for you. I decided to get the Mama's scrambled with was eggs, potatoes, cheese, onions, and ham all mixed together. The Fiance basically ordered a ham sandwich but asked them to hold the ham as she wanted all the other things (I believe it was tomatoes, cheese, and avocado). We chatted for a while waiting for our meal. It must have been about 15 minutes or more before we got our meal. I got a decent amount of food on my plate but unfortunately, they added Ham to my fiance's sandwich so she had to send it back. My fiance told me to eat because we figured it would take a while and she would snack on my toast while she waited. I dug in and best I can say is the food was ok. The potatoes where nice, but there was very little ham in it and what can been seen was very very small. I got this big pile of potatoes but unfortunately I got what looked like about 1 egg scrambled that was over cooked and just lumped on top. It was pretty flavorless and I asked for some salsa. The salsa was probably the best thing I ate there. My Fiance did get her sandwich (they recooked her a new one instead of just picking off the ham, so I have to give them credit for that) and she seemed to like her sandwich. Again nothing special and the fries that came with it are your standard costco french fries. We wrapped up our meal and head to the cash register. We ended up paying around $23 including tip. Definitely a bit much for what we had and considering the area. The service was friendly but not attentive especially considering there was only like 4 other tables in there. Overall a disappointing meal and dining experience. My recommendation is that despite the out of place look, you should skip it and look else where. 2 Stars and keeping on moving for your breakfast needs.

As expressed by George M. You know, I really dislike that "P.O.S." Anna's joint. This proves my point... Tried to be social with the usual suspects and paid the price... What I mean by that is some a-hole patron who sat in the chair prior to me, spilled some oily substance on it. Naturally, I managed to sit down in the chair without really looking closely prior to sitting down. Violating my usual practice... Of course my suit pants got the big grease spot, pissing me off big time... Discovered the stain when I was steaming the wrinkles out of my suit this afternoon. That is my usual practice, done each time I wear it ... Bottom line, had to take Tums to rid my self of the stinkin' Burrito heartburn, have to prematurely clean my suit pants, and am grumpier than usual over the incident because I went there against my better judgment... Screw that place...

It's as if someone took a cute, hokey Big Bear cabin and plunked it down in Hayward. The location really couldn't be less appealing, and the food is happy typical coffee shop food, but I'm a sucker for a cute blue cabin.

Good food. My favorite's are Huevos con Nopales. They make a Mexican Hot Chocolate (you have to ask for it). Good pancakes and waffles. very friendly. It can get busy but they will get back to you. If it were really that bad, nobody would be there.

I am not sure why this place has such great reviews. My friends and I went for breakfast after a night out. I was really hoping for some good breakfast, but I was disappointed. When we first entered the restaurant, it took them way too long to seat us. After we ordered, the food also took foreverrrrrr to come out. We were practically starving! I ordered the biscuits with gravy which was pretty bland. It wasn't too special, and the biscuits weren't good. I didn't try the food that my friends ordered, but no one finished their food....We definitely weren't satisfied. The service isn't the best. Not friendly, helpful, or attentive. I will not be coming back.

I've always passed this place as a kid and wanted to try it . All these years later when I had kids i decided to bring them. I couldn't believe they had chilaquiles! Unfortunately I was not impressed . I expected more out of this place being that I was so juiced to try it all my life lol.

My friend recommended this place and I really wanted to like it but everything was such a failure. Prices do not match the portions. Our waitress wanted nothing to do with us. Our food came out after more than half an hour. We got half size cups of water when everyone around us had full size cups. My hot chocolate came at the end of the meal when it was ordered before the mediocre food. My toast was buttered but not toasted. My eggs were cold. Potatoes bland. Chorizo decent. We were never offered refills on the puny servings of water. We weren't offered salsas/condiments. To boot, she didn't hand us the bill... She did a drive-by throw of it. This is the first time we've never tipped. We're never coming back. I suppose the search for more decent breakfast places continues. (If in need of some suggestions, Burger Road in Hayward (on weekdays - breakfast burritos or Korean rice plates for lunch), Hippies Brew in Hayward (superb coffee and quicker bites), Country Way in Fremont (french toast), Doug's in Castro Valley (corned beef hash), Clementine's in San Ramon (chicken and waffles/southern inspired dishes), even Black Bear Diner (just about anywhere)!)

This restaurant has the feel of a good old fashioned coffee shop, or small pancake house. The owners must be very religious because the place is decorated with pictures of Jesus and other positive images of love and duty. The display case at the counter even has Christian books and CDs for sale if you want to buy that kind of thing. The staff, mostly Latino women (I'm guessing Mexican) are cheerful, attractive, and provide great service. For my Sunday breakfast I ordered and devoured Machaca con Huevos with corn tortillas and cofffee. It totally hit the spot. The coffee was very good. I drink it black and it wasn't too strong or too weak but full of flavor, which most coffee shops have a hard time achieving. This was my first visit here. I can't wait to go back there with a friend and see what they think!

It's close to home and a regular breakfast spot. Come here for their chorizo burritos and get extra of their homemade salsa on the side. So good!

My husband and I were looking for a new place to have breakfast in our area since we've only had Diggers (which is amazing). We found this place and decided to give it a try. The inside is verrrrrry out of date, which is fine by me if you have it together in the food department. Sadly, they don't. The area we sat in was clearly an add-on with dirty moldy windowsills which made me wonder what the kitchen looked like. The service was SLOW. The waitstaff were nice sort of but inattentive. Several tables around us had to holler for refills or service. It took over 30 min to get our food. I ordered a ham plate which comes with two eggs, choice of country potatoes or hash browns and toast. Nothing on the plate tasted like anything. It was bland and under salted in the worst way. The woman behind us had clearly eaten here before since she asked for "lots of extra seasoning" when ordering. The house salsa (which I ordered in addition to my plate) was the best part of the meal. My husband ordered a breakfast burrito which came with potato, sausage or bacon, cheese and egg. It was enormous and all potato and super dry. The prices were fair, our bill was $20. If they salted things properly it would be so much better but it still took too long to get our food. The stars are for the salsa and the prices.

When my son and I walked in we were immediately greeted with a friendly enthusiastic hello and welcome. We came in on a Saturday morning around 9 am and the small cozy restaurant was fairly busy. Our server was very friendly, prompt and had excellent customer service. I ordered the huevos rancheros with rice beans and tortilla, and it came with their homemade salsa on the side. This was $8.50. My 5 year old had 2 buttermilk pancakes 2 bacon and scrambled eggs for $5.50. We also ordered the Mexican hot chocolate. Everything was simple and delicious and the service was great! This place is a great little breakfast spot!

  • Kamaehu A.

Usually, I go to another spot for breakfast but I wanted to try something new. The customer service was very good. I enjoyed the huevos rancheros with a side of avo. My partner had the linguisa and eggs. The huevos rancheros seemed authentic and my boyfriend wiped the plate clean. I think he was a bit envious of my order. Overall pretty good.

WOOHOO! My Chorizo in my omelette tasted like south of the border. Their frijoles prepared the right way. Mexi rice is delishyoso as well. Skip the potatoes. Ask for beans and rice ;0) Huevos Mexicana was not "over scrambled" like most places. Mucho onion and tomato. Chorizo egg Omellette with beans and rice and tortillas next time. Gracias!

We had the nopales, chorizo, and eggs, pancakes, and biscuits and gravy. Everything was delicious. We will be back. We've passed this place so many times, but it took yelp ratings to make us stop. The gospel music in the background made me feel like I was home in a Sunday after church! Great food that makes you feel at home!

Although I have never eaten here I can't really judge the food, however. They are not wheelchair accessible at all! Too bad... cannot support a business, who is not inclusive to all...

  • Lupe C.

I have been coming to this place for over 17 years. Everything I have tried I loved. Everyone is very welcoming I almost feel like I'm at home when I eat there. I really appropriate a place that I can eat well and feel comfortable....

  • Taylor J.

Gave this place another try. Called ahead of time took our order in a fast friendly manner. Within 15 mins my boyfriend was there and back with our food. We both ordered the pancake. Breakfast. It was decent. Little portioned and I don't think worth the 17$ it cost. For two pancakes two bacon and I only got one over easy egg. It was just okay food, but the service had highly improved since our last attempted visit!

My heart-husband and I love to discover new places, especially if it's a breakfast/brunch place. We also enjoy surfing on Yelp to see which places nearby we haven't gone to. Through that, we found Anna's Family Coffee Shop. I of course read the reviews from other diners. It was sort of a stepping stone before going to a new place. What I further discovered = too many haters on Yelp. Well, yes I'm on it too, but I try to be as authentic as possible. Here's what I experienced: I hurriedly checked on the menu since almost every review mentioned how expensive the food was. Duh! They were not expensive at all. Big servings, flavorful and affordable mom-and-pop homemade cooking. I love their coffee. It's bottomless for one price. Their plate servings were huge! I ordered their Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs with Hash Browns and Pancakes. My heart-hubby had their Alan Omelet and side of Nopales. Yummy food! We plan to go back for more since their menu is very diverse. Lots of good stuff! And they're all easy on the budget. See you there!

I'm calling the health department first thing in the morning. My niece has been throwing up all day after eating their blueberry pancakes. I had some of her pancakes and had a touch of the dreaded didi! I thought it was a crazy fluke until my niece started vomiting. It's the only thing she ate all day, was fine before we were there, got sick a few hours after. My other niece had strawberry pancakes and she is fine, so I'm sure it was the blueberries. I'm so pissed they served rotten food to my niece! Avoid, if you value your health!!!

  • Claudia R.

Anna's makes a standard but good avocado sandwich and homey Mexican food. On that front, no complaints. Yes, there are religious and traditional Mexican decorations present, as someone pointed out. It's a freakin' Mexican coffee shop. What do you expect? Many non-chain (and some chain restaurants for that matter) freely express their beliefs, and Anna's does so within the comfort of their diverse community. That's the beauty of the U.S. of A! On the negative side, I am not a fan of their American breakfasts. The strawberry waffle I asked for had packaged, frozen strawberries on it that weren't fully thawed, which I thought was pretty weird. The eggs and hash browns were sort of bland. AND! Possibly the worst thing... The french fries were frozen as well. If I'm going to spend a couple of hours at the gym, it has to be for some fresh cut fries! So... If you're around and hankering for a good breakfast, opt for the chilaquiles.

I loved this place. I went by on sunday morning with my family and we all had the best breakfast ever. I had the waffle combo- with eggs and bacon. My boyfriend had the avocado sandwich, my son had the kids mini pancake combo and in laws had chilaquiles with red and green salsa and sister in law had the french toast combo. They all loved their meals. And the service is great. It took a while to get our food but it was all worth it. I'll be going back forsure!

First time coming here very nice little diner/mexican spot. The waitress is really friendly and what I got was really good. I ordered one of the specials which was chile relleno with a beef enchilada i didnt expect it to be as much food when it came to my table! It was tasty. I asked for a side of sour cream which was .75 cents extra. overall good food good service I'll be coming here again!

Came in from SoCal ..... Ordered the "Maria omelette" and was satisfied until dinner time. The portion is very generous but not overfilling ..... I highly recommend this place for breakfast when visiting the area

Love coming here. Their menu includes things from burritos to strawberry pancakes! How awesome! Everyone always finds something to eat! I eat the chilaquiles but i wish they did have more cheese. I literally got a pinch of cheese. They make things from scratch and has a home feeling. They are always refilling the coffee and checking on the table! Awesome service!

Having breakfast at Annas. Delicious! Sunrise special, Pancakes big and fluffy. No greasy breakfasts here! Egg and bacon cooked just right... MY FAVORITE PLACES TO EAT ARE FAMILY RUN RESTAURANTS WHO TAKE PRIDE IN THEIR FOOD....AND ANNAS DEFINITELY DOES! Friendly waitress very attentive. A must eat here..

Yes I am a fan of Anna's. The servers recognize us and they are all very nice and attentive. My husband and I don't eat meat or dairy so Mexican breakfast it is and there' is affordable and delicious. We go there most every weekend!

Anna's is my wife and I's go to breakfast spot. It's local, great service, and the food is always spot on! It is always easy to get a table even when they are busy and it's such a cozy diner.

  • Raz M.

Uuuuugh. Wanted to like this place because there's not a whole lot of greasy spoon local places to go to that I haven't already tried, but there's just nothing good about this place. Service was slow, small dining room, location undesirable (except its proximity to the freeway & several gas stations), looked clean enough inside, needs more non-red meat options, food was bland & runny, OJ was cloudy, bitter & processed, could use some ventilation & NOT cheap. Can't see why we would ever stop here again.

    (2)
  • John G.

Quick weekend getaway and came here off yelp reviews. Not only was the service attentive and quick, but the price for the quality of food was top notch. Got the breakfast combo with pancakes, which were huge and the coffee was solid. Noise level was normal and booths were plenty big enough. Would totally come here again.

I stopped here with my boyfriend to use the restroom and grab a quick breakfast. The bathroom was small but adequate. It wasn't overly dirty or clean, but it did contain the basics: toilet, sink, soap, towels. So the food was also adequate. We shared avocado sandwich with a side salad. The sandwich was standard, but the salad was all wet for some reason and the dressing was okay. When we looked up at the decor we noticed we were oddly surrounded by religious pictures and paraphernalia. When you go to an old fashioned coffee shop you expect that old timey charm, but the religious decorations were a little uncomfortable. Upon further examination we realized that it was on nearly every wall, over the doors, and in the counter they even had religious trinkets for sale. It was a little extreme for breakfast to say the least. Doubtful we will return.

This place is good local breakfast dive. Where it really shines is their fabulous selection of delicious Mexican breakfast items and hearty lunch time hot sandwiches. It is definitely worth a try. I'd especially suggest trying "Maria's" sandwich. It's a delicious creation of chopped steak, mushrooms, onions, cheese and sour cream on french roll. They are open daily from 7 am to 3 pm. Support your local small business and visit them.

I love Anna's! Whether it's for a quick breakfast or casual brunch, it's always my go-to when I don't want to deal with high prices or overcrowding in other restaurants. The atmosphere is quaint and family-oriented (albeit very religious), and the staff is very friendly and attentive. If you want a low-key and low-budget bite, Anna's is it!

Food - 3 stars Pet Friendly - none This is such a cute little place on the corner that we finally stopped for breakfast. I concur with the entire review from c.g. The food was decent- I had a huge veggie omelet and hubby had enchiladas. I like the fact that you can see them making your food because I saw the cook putting my husband's enchiladas in the microwave to reheat. Seriously? Service was super slow because only one waitress was working so I only got one refill on coffee. It was 8am so I need at least 4-5 cups to really get going. Super friendly, lots of regular patrons...just go if you have time and like food reheated in the nuker.

You have to wonder what the naysayers expected as they approached Anna's. Inside and out, it is obviously a family-owned and operated coffee shop. Expect quality breakfast, good coffee, and clean vinyl booths. The servers are fast, friendly, and attentive; the food is consistently good; and they serve fresh house-made salsa for free if you ask. At a time when customer appreciation is rare, Anna's is a refreshingly genuine option.

Really good breakfast joint right on busy Jackson street. Service is unbelievable, they are friendly and keep checking up on you to make sure you have everything you need. They have daily breakfast specials, but I opted for the American omelette which came with ham, bacon, 2 types of cheese, side of crispy hashbrowns and toast for $9. If you ask for their home made salsa it will give it that extra punch. They are only open for breakfast and lunch.

Great little diner. Yummy Chilaquiles, great homemade salsa. Fresh coffee, great service. Decor is old school diner feel, but it was clean and food was delicious. One of the best breakfast eateries in Hayward.

Friendly service. Went here with my kids and not only was the staff on point with taking my order, but the food was delicious. Homemade taste. I had the chilaquiles verdes. Sooooo good. My kids had pancakes and eggs and they ate it all up.

I wanted to like this place and give a mom & pop establishment a chance. The food was alright. For the food, the prices were too high. I could get a better meal at Denny's for less money. Their chilaquiles were pretty good. But again nothing memorable. Service was friendly but again, that's about it.

The worst service I have ever received, hands down. After I specifically made sure there was only mustard on the Wild Burger, it came out with mayonnaise instead, the very thing I was trying to avoid. Because of the many laps we took around "what kind of sauce" park, I assumed it would be correct. Wrong. This put me vomiting in their bathroom while they took extra long to make me a new one (gee, thanks, I'm totally hungry after blowing the contents of my stomach into your toilet on my hands and knees in a public restroom) and then charge me full price for everything. Oh let's not forget that when she took my burger, she took my fries. I was offered no fries with newly made, bun crumbling-apart burger. I am sad that I will not be able to try many items that looked so good on the menu, because I will never bring myself to give these people money again.

decent service and good food We ordered the Chorizo omelet. IIt was Mexican style. How to describe it ? It was different . Their chorizo is fresh and homemade. It was on the meatier side for me but it was still good. I think i am used to the traditional American style omelet. It also came with toast and hashbrowns ! 3.8/5 I would def come back to try the other dishes !

Love the chilaquiles in red sauce here, and that they do not charge for things like extra salsa and sour cream - but the service leaves a bit to be desired. My friend and I waited almost 40 minutes for our food and all we ordered were pancakes and the aforementioned chilaquiles. I would still come back though! I hadn't been back since I was in high school (they happened to be open on Labor Day and I was meeting a friend for breakfast) and it's great that they've stayed open all this time - one of the longer running mom and pop places in this neck of the woods.

I had breakfast this morning and t h e service to seat me was slow. Taking my order was slow. However to receive my check was fast. Not the best at service ir taste of food. I ordered the French Toast Special with orange juice. It took 10 minutes to seat me 10 minutes to take my order and 2 minutes to give the check.

Anna's Coffee shop. Horrible coffee. Good breakfast. Don't order the mocha latte. It tastes like a hot chocolate packet. Guess I should have been tipped off by the fact they don't have an espresso machine. I'm not a coffee snob. I drink Folgers, Starbucks, even McDonalds coffee. This coffee tastes bitter yet weak at the same time. Wish I would have made a cup of Joe before leaving the house.

I really liked this cute little spot on the corner. Not very many tables, this little coffee shop is a great place for breakfast on Sunday morning. I had the chilliquilles, which were available with both green and red sauce. I enjoyed the small hometown feel of this restaurant. The food was tasty and nice, the place was clean, and I felt like I was eating at my grandmas.

Anna's is very close, so it's not surprising we've been here three times for breakfast already. They serve up traditional diner breakfasts and Mexican specialties. Don't ask why, but I've ordered the same thing every time - The Mix Plate, which comes with eggs scrambled with chorizo and cactus, rice and beans. It also comes with your choice of corn or flour tortillas. I always get corn. It comes with a small side of salsa. Don't skip it! It compliments the breakfast perfectly. The cactus, something I'd never eaten, gives the meal a delightful tang. Each tortilla is filled with some of the egg mixture, rice, beans and a spoonful of salsa. So delicious! There is always plenty left after the tortillas are gone. Everything on the plate gets mixed together (Mix Plate - get it?) and topped with salsa. It's very tasty. I'm considering skipping the tortillas next time. It is a lot of food and I really enjoy the flavor of the meal by itself. Perhaps next time I'll try something different.

my husband and I have been coming here for a while now, at least once a month. The service is great! Waitresses are friendly and smile. The food is good with variety and we love their cappuccino!

Super cute, bright and homey. Warm smiles all around. Great spot for brunch with friends or to get some work done on a cloudy day. Food is alright, but the cozy atmosphere and great service are what make this place special and repeated visits worthwhile. - Traditional American and Mexican foods served. - Prices are reasonable and portions are just right. - There's a parking lot, but I can imagine it getting crowded on a weekend morning.

My family and i have been going to this little hole in the wall for awhile now. Food has always been really good and the portions are very good..This place is one of our favorite places to eat in Hayward..a mom and pop place very family friendly. They specialize in breakfast and lunch only. There may be a wait to get in the door but not to long..please come check it out..

Must Go!!!! I loved the food, I ordered a breakfast that came with country potatoes, which were fried to perfection, included were other grilled vegetables and an egg. Served with rice and beans. The food was delicious, perfectly spiced, fresh, and worth the almost $9.00 for the meal. Only one waitress when I went on a Thursday morning at 10:30. So service was a little slow getting my coffee. But I didn't care because the coffee was good and the food great. Will definitely be going back.

Work calls and I am yet again in Hayward looking for a breakfast joint. Fighting the urge to go to Mimi's Cafe once again I went to yelp to find a local spot to enjoy. This came within my radar. Completely what I was looking for, diner feel and local steals! This place had a jive for Mexican so many of their plates consisted ... To my dismay the omelette I got tasted average. It's wasn't bad but nothing to go mmmmM mmmM about. My partner ordered a Mexican breakfast place which was also average to him. I did however enjoy the constant refills of coffee. Keep it comin!

I love this place. Cathy (short for Catalina) is always smiling and welcoming. The food is great, too. Love the farmer's breakfast (eggs, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, and pancakes) for only $9.95.

This is probably my most-frequented diner-esque place in the Bay Area, and I'm usually rather apathetic about breakfast food. It's a great stop for really well-made, quality breakfast food and super friendly service. The restaurant itself doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside is clean and cozy, with booth seating as well as table seating. The waitresses who work here are incredibly friendly and attentive, and they always seem like they're having the best time working here. The menu has traditional breakfast foods, burgers, and Mexican options that always look so good (but I've yet to try because I can never escape the allure of the breakfast foods). Scrambled eggs, two sausages, two strips of bacon, two slices of French toast, and hash browns: ( yelp.com/biz_photos/anna… ) This is my favorite breakfast combination to get, as it has the protein, the carbs, and the indulgence. For around $10, this is a satisfyingly generous plate, and the quality is there as well as the quantity. The scrambled eggs were fluffy but not overly so, and I could taste the freshness of the eggs. The sausages and bacon were decent, but I was really a fan of the fragrant hash browns and French toast. The hash browns were mealy and soft on the inside while crispy on the outside, and the French toast was really fresh and flavorful. It maybe fell a tiny bit short to the French toast at Denica's in Dublin, but it was more than reasonable for the asking price. Mediterranean omelet and hash browns: ( yelp.com/biz_photos/anna… ) This omelet had a filling combination I hadn't seen before, but it was delicious. The flavors of the olives and feta cheese really came through, and there's something about the creaminess of feta mixed with eggs that is so satisfying. This combination also came with toast, and there's the option of having wheat, sourdough, an English muffin, or white. The toast does come buttered though, so if you don't like butter, let the waitress know beforehand. Two pancakes, two eggs, two bacon, two sausages, and hash browns: ( yelp.com/biz_photos/anna… ) This is essentially the same plate with the exception of replacing French toast with pancakes. I've always been a French toast girl (if you couldn't tell by now), but these pancakes were incredibly fluffy. If I had to be nitpicky, I'd say they were almost a bit too fluffy and veered a bit towards the sweet side. If airy and sweet is what you like though, this would be a good bet. The over easy eggs are always done well here as well, and I generally switch it up between that and scrambled. I'll definitely continue to be back. See you soon, Anna's!

Lived in the bay all my life and passed by several times. Came in for a simple continental breakfast, after waiting for 30 minutes I dropped money for my coffee and left. No line outside people weren't waiting to sit, 30 minutes is unbelievable. Coffee was watered down, for a $1 you can get a much better cup from McDonald's. Don't fall for the hype.

This little whole in the wall is so good! Try the homemade salsa its really good on eggs and the potatoes. Breakfast, Salads and Burritos are excellent. We ordered the chicken sandwich and burger and its not so good kinda plain. But very good food and service!

I rarely give 5 star ratings for places, but this place is as good as it gets for sure. I've only been here one other time about 2 years ago but I always remembered how good the food was but unfortunately I don't live nearby. Yesterday the husband and I stopped by for breakfast. The inside of the place is very cozy and reminds me of eating at my grandma's house (the picture of Jesus and a prayer placard near the front door...gives off my grandma's vibe all the way). The service was good, the staff is very friendly and you feel welcomed as soon as you walk through the door. Now for the food, I ordered chilaquiles with red sauce and the husband ordered their burrito famoso. Chilaquiles was the dish I ordered last time I was here 2 years ago and I absolutely loved it. This time was no different. This makes me beyond happy because it shows they are consistent with their food. You could tell everything was fresh and they give you very good portions. I pretty much polished off my plate and was super stuffed leaving this place. The husband's burrito was very good also. We're burrito snobs so we get pretty critical with burritos but their burrito definitely passes the test. All in all I would definitely recommend eating here and I will be sure not to let another 2 years pass before I come here again!

Hubby ordered the huevos rancheros. Amazing just like Yelp said. Steaming hot corn tortillas. The homemade salsa on the side was wonderful! Add it to any meal for a nice kick. I ordered Anna's Omelette. Perfectly cooked and super tasty. All the food was fresh. Hashbrowns cooked just right, a light brown sear. Customer service was great!! We walked into the place and were greeted with a big smile. Very old fashioned, but it adds ambiance. The surrounding area is not that great, but it's worth it. Limited parking in the back.

I've been to some pretty swank places and have given them 5-star reviews. I've also been to some really expensive spots worthy of just 1. Stars are relative ... You know what kind of place you're eating. If you're looking for Anna's to be fancy, you'll be disappointed. If you're looking for a genuine diner with real people cooking real food in a real place, this is your spot. It's unassuming and you may second guess yourself just pulling in the lot. Commit. Go in, sit down and enjoy some breakfast. For what it is, I've got nothing that it can improve upon to warrant a lesser review. Good find.

I have driven by this place but never considered it given it's appearance from the outside. Had a craving for a diner breakfast so decided to give it a try. The food is pretty standard breakfast menu fare. I ordered the Garden omelette which came with wheat toast and hash browns. Nothing really stood out. It wasn't bad either mind you, and I finished everything on the plate. The women that work here are also extremely friendly, which helps. I would definitely return just to fill that occasional diner craving-- just not if I am looking for a stand out dining experience. They don't get more plain Jane than this.

I just had the worst 2 hour dining experience here. What was intended to be brunch ended up to be lunch. With so many great reviews I was anxious to bring my family here. The space was small and couldn't accommodate our party of 10. We were fine splitting the party in 2 and sitting separately. We were shoved in a booth seat with our menus and basically ignored for 20 mins. Tried to wave someone down to take our order but was clearly not important enough for them to give a care. When we finally got someone to take our order we thought things would get better. Boy was I wrong. We sat for the next hour watching the restaurant clear out and still our food was no where to be seen. No one came by to refill our coffee or inform us whether the food would be out shortly. We watched people who came in after us get served and eat. I was ready to pay for my coffee and just walk out the door when the waitress finally came with our food. Fine. I waited long enough, might as well just eat the food before I get any hangrier. My boyfriend ordered a wild burger which was supposed come with avocado and bacon. There was a bed of wilted lettuce but no avo to be seen. My brother ordered the French toast, 3 bacons, and scrambled eggs. What a disappointment. Everything was bland...even the bacon. How do you mess up bacon!?! My sister in law and I ordered omelettes and hash brown. I have to say that it was actually not bad. Definitely not worth the hour wait. Had the service been better maybe I would think about coming back for their omelette. Nope, it's just not worth it. Thanks, but no thanks.
