I had been wanting to try this place for months and they did not disappoint. Nice ambience, clean and spacious. Friendly, helpful staff. I ordered the fried shrimp and Cajun fries x2, chicken wings, chicken strips and garlic fries, and the shrimp rolls. The shrimp rolls were the best, I'd stop just to pickup an order of those. I want to try the crab and all the other market priced seafood when I'm in the mood for a $100 meal. This meal cost $60 for three people so not too bad for a seafood spot.

The food was fine but I would like to make some constructive critiques to the establishment. 1. I came in on a Friday night and it was awkwardly silent. No music, no tv noise. It would be nice to have some sound ambiance to the space. 2. From the Friday night I went (and another previous time I visited here) the waitress always got my order wrong. I would order two different shrimp flavors with different levels of spiciness and she would only come with one order and tell me that it's the only thing I ordered for the night. I wish they would have better communication with the orders. 3. Also, the food never comes out at the same time. My boyfriend and I would order two different shrimp orders (same lb size, different flavors) and it will never come out at the same time. We also always have to remind them that we ordered other items such as garlic noodles and extra rice with our shrimp. I understand this place is fairly new and it beats Rockin' Crawfish beyond comparison but hopefully they'll work the kinks out with staff/customer communication.

It was my first visit to this crab shack and I wasn't too pleased. I got the Cajun shrimp medium and it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. It had big chunks of garlic and way to much lemon pepper pepper...Honestly the it made my stomche hurt. Maybe the cook was in a rush, who knows but I'm not sure if I'll visit again. Pros: friendly staff two stars go to you guys!

This place made me sad. Slow, inattentive service. Limited overpriced menu, with mostly frozen seafood. The calamari appetizer was clearly premade, pre breaded, and dumped from a frozen bag into a fryer. Disgusting, rubbery, and inedible. Tried the shrimp and crawfish entree, and though I was prewarned that the crawfish were frozen, their flavor still left much to be desired. The broth, however, was very tasty. I ordered mild mixed, and found it spicy enough, with lots of garlic to ladle onto the best part of the meal; the garlic noodles. Even those could not redeem this restaurant, but if forced to eat there again, they're all I'd order. Definitely a place to skip, if seeking seafood in the Concord area.

Tom's Crab Shack is mostly the boiled cajun seafood but i'm not into that. eats: fried oyster w/garlic fries(9.99) -8 small heavily battered fried oysters, no taste until i tore away the batter fresh tasting oyster quarter sized -obviously previously frozen fries devoid of garlic taste though garlic granules present. crumbs: -service was good, food was not.

Came here on a Saturday. Shrimp and catfish were good. No wait because we were the only party there. Can you say awkward? It was extremely quiet to the point where we felt uncomfortable that we had to whisper during our dinner. the waitress would ask us a question if we're doing ok then after our answer of "yes thank you" she would stare at us for 5 seconds then walk away backwards. Oh my.

Love, love this place!! Tried it for the first time today and I ordered the combo #1 with a side of garlic noodles. I give this place 5 thumbs up along with my 5 stars.

So..first time to Toms crab shack. They are out of crab, lemons, and have no mustard! Plastic silverware, no crab eating tools besides the cracker...made it hard to eat. Food was just ok, pretty expensive. Needless to say, I won't be coming back.

Very clean, good taste, good combo specials that rockin crawfish don't have. The spicy is perfect and you can still eat it without burning. My highlight was the garlic noodles, very garlicky and huge portion!

Came here with family on a busy Sunday around 1. The place looks like a boiling crab! Not too much of a wait considering there was 9 of us, got sat at a table in front. The sweet waitress took our drinks and then took our food order. We got the combo #3 with shrimp, clams, and king crab legs! Tried the tom's combo favor, mild. Yummy! It came with corn potatoes and sausages too! We also got cajun fries and garlic noodles! Sooooo good!!!! They checked up on us a lot and our drinks were never even emptied out! A+ service for the whole staff of Tom's crab shack!

Great alternative to Boiling Crab and better than other Cajun seafood spots we've tried (Crawstation in SF and Red Crawfish in San Mateo). Our server was pleasant and very attentive. We ordered the Combo #2 with shrimps, lobster tail, sausages and corn. We asked if we could substitute the potatoes for more corn but they don't allow substitutions. I think they should be a little more flexible with substituting certain items that are offered in the Combo, which is why I deducted one star. We ordered a mild garlic and butter sauce which had just the right amount of kick. The shrimps were very plump and the lobster was meaty. The sausages were just as tasty. The corn was bland and not sweet but they can easily fix that by getting sweet corn from another vendor. The plain iced tea was good. We also ordered catfish with cajun fries. Both were good too. We will definitely return to get our Cajun seafood fix. Hopefully on our next visit, they will be a little bit more flexible with substituting items in the Combo menu and serve tastier corn.

Let me preface this review with the fact that I really wanted to like this place. I saw it a couple of days ago on my way to the Rockin Crawfish across the street. I figured The Rockin Crawfish can't be the only game in town serving great garlic crab, so let's go for it! The atmosphere has the same concept as with any of the other crab joints, I.e. Boiling Crab, Rocking Crawfish, etc. Knowing this is a new establishment I anticipated slow service or lack thereof. I ordered the strawberry iced tea, which was okay. A bit too sweet for me, but I tolerated it. The menu doesn't have a huge selection, but most of these places don't. What I did like were the combo options, but decided to stick with what I came for, which was the crab. I ordered the Dungeness, garlic butter, mild sauce. I added on corn, sausage, and potatoes. The young girl that took my order told me the wait would be very long for crab because unlike the shrimp it wasn't already streamed. I asked how long she said she didn't know, but maybe 20 minutes?? Okay, I'll wait. After 30 minutes we asked another young girl when my order would be ready, she flat out said, "I don't know". WTH? A couple of minutes later we had our order. The server plopped our order down in a plastic bag without a bowl, pan, or anything. I asked for a bowl and got a dirty wooden bowl. I immediately sent it back to be cleaned and wondered why in the world they're service greasy, buttery, seafood in a porous container. That is food poisoning situation waiting for a place to happen. Once I felt satisfied with the cleanliness of my bowl I opened the plastic bag to an overwhelming amount of a paste-like tomato substance. The flavor of the "sauce" was horrendous. I was instantly dissatisfied. While poking at this disaster of a 65.00 meal I realize the crab hasn't even been cleaned! GTFOH! The entire body was still fully attached with all the sea gunk and other gross fluids! TURN OFF! So, to some it up, would I return to this place? NO. Words of advice, go across the street to the Rockin Crawfish.

After reading the reviews we chose to go to Rockin Crawfish across the way... not ever again. A few days later still having a shellfish craving we decided to gice it a try and so glad we did. We normally go out to Alameda for our shellfish cravings but am glad to know this is local and close by. We've been here twice and will definitely come back. The food and service was timely and good. They're all friendly and attentive.

Came here w/ my family on the restaurant's 2nd day open. First thing that came to mind when we walked in - this looks like Boilng Crab. The theme and decorations of this place is very similar to Boiling Crab. Not sure if that's what they intended but the food was right up there w Boiling Crab. The restaurant was super clean and the service really prompt. The thing we liked the most was the special seafood combos they had that ranged from $25 - $60 and included lots of food. We got the $38 combo that included 2Ibs shrimp, 1ib clams, 3 corn and sausage and potatoes. We also ordered sweet potato fries and garlic noodles. It was plenty of food for a family of 6 people (4adults 2kids) All the seafood tasted fresh and there sauce was pretty damn good. I highly recommend the combos and ordering some sides w/ them. I used to live in the Southbay and have gone to all the top notch boil places and Toms Crab Shack is right up there.

1st visit: 04/25/15 I haven't been brave enough to visit "The Boiling Crab" so it's kinda hard to compare this place to it! I think I'm more of a "butter garlic" sauce kinds gal. It's recommended to order combo meals for groups to save money nonetheless. The fried oysters were pretty good. I expected more for fried calamari though so I wasn't too impress with it. I like TENTACLES! As of last night, the business still has a "PENDING" alcohol license so I recommend to BYOB! Haha jk My additional 2 stars is for GREAT customer service!! They were super friendly and very attentive! Oh yeah, I loved that they had HD TV's all over the place coz I got to see the Warriors beat the Pelicans! Heck yeah!!

Major dissappointment. We ordered Combo #2 (shrimp, sub'd mussels, corn, sausage and potatoes) with Tom's Spice Combo. The "Medium" level was actually already pretty spicy (and quite salty) but lacks any real depth of flavor. The Garlic Noodles, which are usually a foolproof side dish, are a big no-no. They use chow-mein type noodles, huge chunks of garlic and some sort of soy-saucey flavoring which I didn't care for at all. The Cajun Fries on the other hand were tasty and well-seasoned, but honestly, who comes to a seafood restaurant for the french fries? Service was sub-par; Not sure if they were just too overwhelmed with the Friday night crowd or were just blatantly ignoring us, so good luck getting anyone's attention if you need a re-fill on your drink or part of your order is still missing halfway through your meal, and oh, they won't even thank you on your way out when you've paid $70+ for a less-than-stellar dinner. I understand the novelty of these restaurants but for the amount spent and the overall experience I won't be coming back.

Service is 5/5 Food is 4/5 We arrived at around 5:30pm and we were greeted and sat as soon as we walked in. Their fruit green tea is amazing! I ordered the strawberry flavor and it was so good, my boyfriend had to order another one for himself, haha. The servers are extremely attentive and very friendly. The shrimp are cooked to perfection and are easy to peel. I prefer Tom's Combo sauce compared to Boiling Crab's whole shebang because Boiling Crab has a thicker sauce that tastes too buttery. Overall, I really enjoyed it. The only thing I didn't really like were the cajun fries because I prefer shoe string fries to larger cut ones. But that's more of my personal preference. We enjoyed ourselves! We will be back! I'm so glad we have something like Boiling Crab so close to home!

It's Good Friday, which means no meat for me and my family. We were on our way home when we saw the grand opening sign on this place. It was just meant to be! The place wasn't too busy when we arrived around 7pm and we were sat right away at a booth. My husband was a little disappointed that there was no liquor b/c they're still waiting on their liquor license. But other than that, we were very impressed with the flavor of their sauces. We ordered 2 lbs of shrimp - (1) lb garlic butter, medium spicy and (1) lb tom's sauce, medium spicy; rice; and garlic fries. The shrimp was juicy and flavorful. It wasn't overcooked or dry; it was perfect. I savored sucking the juice out of each precious shrimp head. I dipped our delicious garlic fries into the sauce in the bag. I even started rubbing the juice off my fingers onto my rice so that I wouldn't waste a drop. To say that I really enjoyed myself is really an understatement. Like many other people, I love Boiling Crab. But I've fallen in love with Tom's Crab Shack now too. I'm not a food elitist, so I'm not even going to compare the two. They are both really good. The servers were pretty nice; a little confused at times, like they forgot to get our waters at first. But I get it, they just opened up and are probably still figuring things out. We also got markers so that we could write on the wall. It was dry-erase, so it was wipeable. I think other people were using permanent markers. I'll have to sneak some next time we go and make our mark on the wall. Edit: Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that after dinner, you should go to Popping Fresh, which is in the same plaza. Owner is super nice and I love their boba milk teas!! yelp.com/biz/popping-fre…

We've tried several places, but this is the closest to Boiling Crab when it comes to the taste. No waiting in long lines since it's still pretty new. Place is clean and good customer service. We're happy that we don't have to drive to San Jose anymore when we have a crab or shrimp craving.

This place fuckin SUCCCCCCKED!!!! Horrible horrible there was NO i REPEAT NO MEAT IN MY CRAB! I had the snow crab as did the people i dined with, every leg had very little meat! The seasonings was not tasty at all and had a very greasy consistency. I ordered the chicken wings as a appetizer and they looked as if the came from a baby chick! Their service sucked big donkey balls, the waitress was very rude when asked for some garlic butter her reply was "the kitchen is closing tell me everything you need now" This was absolutely the worst "crab shack" I've ever been too and i frequent them quite often. Upon asking for containers to carry the leftover GARBAGE I HAD JUST EATEN! We were asked to pay because they were closing and the registrar supposedly closed at 10.00pm i looked at my cell phone and the time read 9:24pm Wtf REALLY YOUR ASKING FOR US TO PAY 36 WHOLE MINS EARLY AND WE WERE ALREADY PACKING UP TO LEAVE!!! This experience was a total nightmare....i won't even go into the payment process we had to endure just for asking for separate checks!!! I'll never return to this shit hole the SERVICE WAS A 0 AND THEIR COURTESY FOR THEIR PAYING GUEST WAS A DOUBLE 00ZERO!! Yes im pissed $150.00 later.

I would give it 4 stars. The staff was polite and friendly. Came by on a Friday evening after work. We ordered a pound of shrimp, a pound of mussels, and lobster with garlic noodles and clam chowder. Had he Tom's sauce which is a combination of the lemon pepper and the garlic sauce. It was a bit oily but the everything was prepped nicely. I've had shrimp overly cooked before but there's wasn't. I will definitely come back again.

This is the second time I've been here and both times the staff has been very helpful. The place is very clean and the food is awesome! Make sure to look in the walls for specials or combos as they don't have that on the menu and the first time we learned the hard way by ordering everything separately!

  • Kenny I.

This restaurant is boiling crab wannabe. I ordered 1. Shrimps - the shrimps were delicious, fresh and tasty 2. Sausages- the sausages were okay 3. Corn- The corn was not good. It was tasteless and mushy 4. Potato - just standard 5. Lobster - It was good 6. Whole Crab - I think it was frozen before. But it was great and still fresh 7. Fried Catfish - the fish was not fresh and a bit fishy The Toms special sauce was awesome. I prefer this sauce than boiling crab. The service was slow but the restaurant was clean. Definitely coming back!!!

We were told no substitutions for the combo (even though we offered to pay the price difference). Other places like Boiling Crab allows for substitutions. The establishment was pretty clean. Not as crowded (yet). Decent location in Concord with adequate parking. Only been there once, will have to come back to try other varieties from the menu.

We've been here 4x and all 4x their service was super slow. 2 out 4x they ran out of rice and we had to wait over an hour after out food arrived just for it. As for food, mild has no spice, medium is alright, hot is a little spicy. *shrimp - smaller than expected, but pretty good *clams - our fave *King crab - alright, nothing special *sweet potato fries - yummy *calamari - not my fave, taste like the frozen ones that you get from the grocery store *mango fruit tea - very good and refreshing *potatoes - yummy with sauce *To the owners: please hire more servers and buy another rice cooker!

  • Roderik H.

Tom's Crab Shack is surprisingly good. The shrimp was cooked to perfection and the mixed sauce is the icing on the cake. Seafood lovers like myself could tell that the crabs were frozen, but that didn't bother me at all. The only thing you should be prepare for is the service. It's not because the waiters have bad attitudes, it's just that Tom's are really under staffed so you may have to wait longer for your orders (the restaurant is very new). All and all, this restaurants is a definite go go and I will definitely come back, hungry for more.

I've been tom's crab shack last weekend and came back again with my friends tonite...it was not really busy on weekday. We arrived at around 7:30 and we were sat right away on booth as we want to be. We ordered combo#2 with 2 lb shrimp, 1 pc lobster tail and some sides(toms combo flavor and medium spicy) and that was definitely enough to 2 people to eat!! One thing I have to say that the sauce were soooo perfect to me and my friend. The staff was really friendly to ask us if the food were good and if we need to refill the drink. YUM!!YUM!!No doubt will be back soon!!!! Do not forget to order their fruit tea also!! They r sooo great!:D

  • Robert A.

For what you pay for you get your moneys worth unfortunately you have to eat it when it's hot that means you can't take it home we had the garlic noodles and by the time that we got halfway home they were cold greasy soggy and very garlicky didn't like the shrimp with the ladies in the feet in the antenna if they could of did a half clean I would've been halfway decent with it unfortunately as I said you have to eat it when it's hot Bring a bed and a whole bunch of napkins because it's going to get all over the place messy messy messy

I drove 1 hour and came here with my family on a Friday night. Did not disappoint!! We ordered oysters, king crab, and garlic noodle. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves seafood because this place is awesome!

Bout time we had one of these spots in our neck of the woods. Place was clean, service was good. Food was great. I ordered the whole king crab with Tom's special sauce, which was pretty big. I ate it all except for one leg. Also, ordered the fried catfish and the shrimp bag with the Tom's special sauce. The place is still in it's grand opening stage, so there are a few kinks that needs to be worked out. I definitely enjoyed eating that good food. I would recommend and visit again.

Came in on a Monday night to dine in for 4 people to try instead of rocking crawfish across the street. We came in 30 minutes before closing and was told to order to go and no dine in. Not so great customer service, and will not be coming to give this establishment another chance.

  • Robert G.

Clam chowder was watery and didn't taste good, Also $7.99 for a 16oz cup is not a good price. Shrimp was good but crab was tasteless also everything is in market prices. combos are not on the menu so you need to look on the wall to see. Theme is a mix between a sports bar and bubba gumps. food is very messy so dont dress up for this place. Service was good so for that 3 stars instead of 2.

After finding out that there was a local seafood restaurant, I wanted to try it super bad. When I first walked in my first impression was: wow, this looks like boiling crab. Not even "looking like" but is completely identical, with the orange & metal lining with the shark and written wooden walls. It kinda reminded me of the TV show F.O.B, lol. Anyways. We ordered combo #2- where they forgot the sausages. Once we informed them about it they fixed it right away, but the sausages were more like cold hot dogs, bleh! The shrimps were nice and big though. I hate to compare, but the taste of the sauce was waaay too bland compared to Boiling or Kickin' Crab. The garlic noodles were really garlic-y and tasted like raw garlic, it was alright. Overall, this place isn't a great knock-off of boiling crab; I don't think I would want to go here again.

3.5 stars overall Food was delicious, but Toms had a couple issues The food was great, but the SERVICE... Ridiculous! Only one other couple in there with us, and they never came to our table once. 3 servers on the floor. We had to literally flag them down while they were just standing there (the only two times we interacted with our waitress other than our order). Took forever to take our order, bring the check and bring the change. Just standing there or aimlessly walking around doing nothing. Frustrating when there's no one... I understand if you're busy We ordered the combo #1. Amazing value, perfect for three people. Clams were the bomb. I'm not a baby when it comes to spicy, but oh jeeeeeez it was hot. We ordered the "medium" level toms combo and garlic butter and we were all on fire. It was really spicy. Definitely going for mild next time so I can enjoy it more. Overall, it was delicious. However- disorganized, "deer in headlights", slow servers muddled the experience. Will definitely be back cause its bomb food for my little family of 3 for $29. Just make it fast casual so I don't have to wait for the waitstaff to order or pay

  • Zeke G.

I'm giving this place a one star for poor customer service... We ordered and seems like the server forgot it... Servers are like absent minded...i will not come back to this place again... Kicking crab and boiling crab are far better despite the long wait...

  • Eunice C.

This is my second time coming here and I love every experience. The food is good, the service is great. So far they just newly opened this month and not a lot of people know about this place. I would say it is comparable to boiling crab but nicer and without the long wait. I hope they stay for a long time, I love that they are so close to home.

Every time my family and I get together we come to get food here, it's central for all of us. We order one of the steampot combos and garlic noodles. Don't forget the mango tea!

All whole staff was very attentive. We had a nice time. Ashley was our waitress and she was fantastic. She was genuine, sweet, joked around and just was a doll. She is one of the type of employees that will go the extra mile. All the girls work really great together. Koodos to whoever hired these ladies. Definitely going to refer and come bk. Congratulations!

Not bad for a generic version boiling crab. It looked exactly like boiling crab! They did run out of garlic noodles and didn't have beer! So that was a bummer... But I ordered the combo #3 which you can pick from 1 lb shrimp or 1 lb crawfish, 1 lb mussel or 1 lb clams, and included 1 king crab leg, 2 corn on the Cobb, and 8 sausages! Which was a great deal! I always ordered the catfish appetizer and it was good but I can go without the tartar sauce and the Cajun fries were good too. If you don't want to drive all the way to sac or San Jose and still wait 30+ mins - 1 hour, then I would recommend this place

I don't really ever right reviews but here goes Service 4 stars. Pretty attentive and happy but there were only 4 parties including our own Food: Garlic noodles: 1 star. They were a little too oily, salty and pretty gummy. Like they have been out a little too long in the kitchen Crawfish with Spicy combo sauce 1 star Heat was ok but sauce lacked depth and character. i dunno what goes in a sauce but all i really tasted was cumin like flavor and it was also pretty oily. Chicken strip and fries: 3 stars tasted like every other chicken and fries your kids will order. I REALLY REALLY wanted to like this place since it is close to me but would rather make the drive to oakland and go to rockin crawfish, or even hang ten boiler in alameda in that order. The seafood is fresher and the sauces alot better.

Went yesterday for a family members birthday, we were a party of 13! We got seated right away which was already a plus compared the similar places like boiling crab. Our server was really nice and very patient with our party! I really enjoyed the pound of shrimp Tom style medium spice, even Better than boiling crab which is too salty for me. I also got strawberry tea, which I will not get next time. The sweet potato fries could've been cooked longer a little too soggy. Our order was also slightly messed up but they took care of it right away. You can tell they're still getting the hang of things so hopefully next time we visit things will be a bit more smooth!

Really love how this place has combos! We got the shrimp, clams, sausages, potato and corn combo and it was not bad. The sauce was a little watery so I'm giving 3 stars but it has potenetial so hope the cooks sees this because other than that it would have been really yummy. Also, the fruit green teas are a must try! And personally, I think this is better than the place across the street. * hint hint

Came here for the first time yesterday with my friends. This is definitely an amazing place to go with a group of friends. We order the chicken wings, sweet potato fries and seafood combo with garlic source. Highly recommend the wings. The combo comes with shrimp and claims and sides of corns, sausages and potatoes. Fresh and Yummm...We will definitely visit again soon!!!

We wanted to bring a large party on Mothers Day for lunch, so we called ahead but were told they do not take reservations. So on Mother's Day we arrived at 11:30 - no lights on, no activity in the place even though it would be opening at noon. About 11:45 three employees finally showed up. Our group was the first in the door, first to be seated. I will say, we were a party of 25 but that is why we arrived early. It took awhile for us to decide what we wanted to order, but even after coordinating amongst the 25 of us there was still no waitress in sight. We had to flag someone down. For a busy dining out day, the 3 wait staff on duty was pitifully inadequate. It took about 30 minutes for them to realize they had not put paper on our tables, and another 15 for them to bring our drinks. Meanwhile we were seeing tables around us getting food. We thought they were trying to bring our food out all together, so didn't complain right away. Fast forward to 1.5 hours after ordering, and we still don't have food! Several of our party asked the wait staff what was up but kept being told it's coming. One dish would randomly arrive, then another ten minutes later. Only when I went directly to the kitchen area and got very upset with the staff did they actually look into the problem. Turns out there was a problem with the submitting of the order! They blamed it on the register, but no one else seemed to have problems with their order so I have my doubts... Even after telling us the issue, we still saw food going out to other tables while we waited. The three kids at our table were extremely hungry and luckily the only one staff who was apologetic brought them some corn. In total, it took 2 hours from when we placed our order to get our food. When it arrives, several of our orders were not correct but we were too hungry to complain and too afraid a correction would take another 2 hours. The waiter who happened to take the order that "the register messed up" never once returned to our table to apologize. Not even when he was serving the tables right next to us. We were told we would get our drinks free and a discount, but when the bill came only half of our drinks were free and the discount was a measly 10%. For all the trouble we went through, and 5 moms whose Mother's Day were ruined, I would expect a manager to come out and apologize profusely and provide a larger discount or a coupon for return visit. We never saw a manager. Summary: Many signs of poor management and inexperience running a restaurant. Lack of staff on Mother's Day. No staff prepping prior to opening. Large party was not assigned an experienced waiter/waitress. Failure to adequately compensate for issues. Management did not come out to present apology. Orders were not correct. Food took too long to come out. Promised comp were not given. We went here because the drive to boiling crab is long, but trust me this place is not ready for prime time. You will end up spending just as long for lower quality food. You are going to end up waiting anyway. Might as well spend that time driving in the car towards some good food rather than tracking down your server at Tom's. Skip it.

Amazing! The sauce is not thick, it won't make the seafood too salty, I like how the combo comes with corns, sausages and potatos! The sweet potato fries and chicken wings are must try. We ordered shrimps, clams, crawfish and they are fresh~ the decoration in the restaurant is nice too! My favoraite sauce is the garlic flavor. I definitely will come back!

Brand New! Great food! Gotta try I'm going again this weekend - ask for extra spicy on combo deal w/ passion fruit tea is awesome!

The Chicken wings taste real good and special. There is little green onion on the side. actually I don't like onion. But they make that taste so good!

Honestly screw this place. Yelp should have a no star option. We came in on a wait list and apparently there was a couple already waiting there looking miserable and was told by them they were waiting for 15+ mins without even so much as a hello from the staff. I happily put their name on the list before mine (since they weren't even told there was one) and waited patiently until a family of four walked in, didn't put their name down, and got seated within 2 minutes after we've been waiting for another 15... If you decided to go make sure to bang on the damn walls to get acknowledgement. Immensely disappointed that we didn't try the food and had to leave due to others plans for my birthday.

this review is mainly about the food...SOO bland and no flavor. we got the crawfish and mussels. the crawfish broke apart every single time so i barely got any meat. yea she did warn me it was frozen crawfish and not live but Ive have WAY better frozen crawfish than that. The mussels were ok. The service was good but they really need to learn how to cook and add flavor to their seafood....

Service 3 out of 5 stars. Food 4.5 out of 5 stars. -SERVICE- Service was okay. They didn't really understand or listen to my requests. I had to ask for things twice, becuase they didn't get it right the first time. Like an extra piece of corn in my pot, or like that I needed 4 extra plates, not 1. Another gripe, my little nephew puked (he was sick, didn't know til we got there) and these people didn't notice, nor did they offer to help me clean. I mean of course I would have cleaned it up, but they could have offered a rag or something. I am asian-american. I get accents, but these people seemed like they understood but they weren't LISTENING. My aunt ordered her food, and they completely forgot the calamari. And we went for a birthday - it was like she didn't care, I mean offer something for the birthday girl - we spent over $200 for 6 adults! AND they couldn't remember where anyone's dishes came from. They just walked up to the table and showed us a bag of food and didn't even know what combo # it was. So yea, they are new and getting on their feet, and don't expect awesome service and be patient. -FOOD- The food was pretty delicious. But the flavor is NOT as good as Boiling Crab. And that's just being honest. They gave way too much sauce, and I felt like the portion was a little smaller than Boiling Crab. They charge a lot, and DO NOT offer refills on iced tea ($2.75 for like 6 ounces of tea that is mostly ice). The fries are delicious, calamari yum yum, and garlic noodes were so-so (too much uncooked garlic). We had a combo #2 and the portion was supposed to be 2lbs shrimp and 1lb of clams. Felt like 1 lb shrimp. So enjoy a great seafood pot in the East Bay. It'll quench your craving for Boiling Crab but I am not sure it will completely satisfy it.

ALMOST as good as the boiling crab. I got the shrimp with toms combo (similar to the whole shabang), really flavorful! Definitely will come back!!

Saved my time driving all the way to San Jose's Boiling Crab. Great food don't have to wait inline for hours just to have the table. Friendly servers, Good Location although parking would be difficult in busy hours.

I wish there were a way to rate the food and service separately. The food was very good. Had a lot of flavor without being too buttery like other places. The garlic noodles were very good but the garlic fries were not. The fries just had garlic on them and when picked up the garlic fell off and you just had a regular fry. The service was not very good. We had to ask for almost everything. We asked to have our order taken, water, our missing items t g at we ordered and had to ask for the bill. We even had to ask for the credit receipt to sign. I don't know if it was because they are relatively new or because we had enough for the gratuity to already be included, but they need training on customer service. I'd go back for the food but hope it was just a bad day for the service. The service would have been 1 star.

Amazing...Delicious...Service was pretty good for lunch. Im so happy they finally opened one out here. You wont be disappointed. We ordered #2 combo 2lbs of Shrimp 2 lbs of clams, corn, sausage and potatoes in a mild cajun sauce. We also ordered the mussels and harlic noodle ao much flavor. All this fed 4 adults for $60.

  • Becca S.

Way better then rockin crawfish sause not watery like theres, only complaint i had was sause didn't have too much flavor but i did have to get mild because of my son, probably would be excellent spicy, huge portion for the combo #1, price is cheaper then rockin crawfish also

I'm sorry but this is my experience here we arrive and put our names down and ask the waitress how long is the wait. they tell us about 40 minutes . .. we end up waiting for 2 hours. we finally get seated we wait and wait another 30 minutes for the waiter that never comes so we track him down and finally order. there were only 2 waitresses and hostess that also was the busboy. we were a party of 7 so we expected to wait for some time but we talked with a family of 4 and they waited just as long. I have not received my food yet so I have no review of the actual food but I felt it necessary to write a post about the poor service and management of this restaurant. now if they just hired a couple of more people and possibly a few more tables, I think that would aid them tremendously. or is they made it were people seated themselves and ordered at the counter.

First time in was Amazing. I wish I would have gotten our waitresses name (she was awesome) I went with my boyfriend, today when they first opened. I love the ambience, the food and again our waitress. We had a little bit of everything but the king crab was by far my favorite. Also be prepared if your like me.... didn't realize the heads still came on the shrimp, lmbo but it was a good time. Try the combos if you get the chance, they come with corn, potatoes and this delicious sausage. We will defiantly be back to try more of what they have to offer.

Very good customer service as soon as we got in. The mango tea was good as well. We got our combo #2, flavor was lacking and the sauce was not evenly distributed. Not sure if dried seasoning on some of the seafood was intentional or was just dehydrated sauce. Hope they improve on the sauce.

They should remove fresh oysters off their menu, they never have it. And I asked on two separate occasions several weeks apart. Take it off! I know that connects to their frozen oysters too, don't order it. Shrimp sauce is mediocre and service is hella slow, they give the fries after your shrimp

This is my first time writing a review so here goes. I thought Tom's Crab Shack was pretty interesting. The sauce was really good compared to other cajun style seafood restaurants; it didn't have an overbearing garlic taste or too much papika which was enjoyable. I've been to Boiling Crab in San Jose and Lobster Shack in Redwood City on several occasions. I had a pound of shrimp and a pound of clams for the table. I was pleased with the clams because normally there is a lot of sand or shell parts inside the clams but they were very clean. The shrimp was also cooked well; normally whenever I order shrimp at other restaurants they're overcooked and hard to peel. The only criticism I guess would be that the store is a pretty new (opened April 2nd) so they are in the process of making changes. It was pretty busy when I went last Saturday (April 4th), so it took a little bit longer to get seated, order food, and get food. These are just growing pains though so I don't expect to see many issues like this on my future visits.

Omg this place was so good it's now our new spot to eat just like the boiling crab!! The only thing I would say that would keep it from 5 star was that they give you little to to no lemons. The lemons are cut up to small. We got fries Cajun two lb of shrimp with Tom combo with spicy and one on of mussel and two lb of calms it was soo good we are coming back

I ordered combo #3 with shrimp and clams and king crab legs. We shared for 3 ppl. It is not cheap but totally worth it. We got a very big pan and covered with a lot of seafood. Looks so pretty. I was so hungry and forgot to take pics. Soooooo regret. I strongly recommend this place, I used to drive to San Jose to eat. But this one is a great alternative. So happy they open it here, I don't need to drive that far. Great food, great service. I will come back for sure.

We ordered the combo #1 with 1lb of shrimps & 1lb of mussels, corn and potatoes and sausages... We also ordered the combo platter with wings, tenders and calamari and Cajun fries... Fries was a lil bit salty and service is kinda slow too.. They need to add more staff.. But over all the food was good!

This was my wife's and my first time to Tom's Crab Shack in Concord. We stopped for lunch after seeing their name on the building. I had not eaten crab in some time and probably the last time was in San Francisco so we were excited to stop. The layout of the space was very open and comfortable. I really liked the decor and good for the whole family to come. The place was very clean including the bathrooms. The tables were solid with paper down for eating crab. My wife laughed when the waitress brought us the crab bibs to wear. We ordered several things so we could try more than one item. My wife ordered Snow Crab and I ordered King Crab, a pound each, in addition we ordered the shrimp with sweet potato fries and the chicken wings. We ordered two sauces but on the side so we could mix and match. The lunch crowd was starting to come in, but the food arrived fairly quickly. The waitress was friendly and made sure we were taken care of. The crab was excellent! The snow crab was so sweet and the king crab was wonderful. The preparation was terrific as the shells were fairly easy to crack and get to the meat. This was better crab then I have had in San Francisco. SO GOOD. My wife mixed and matched with the sauce. I like they put the sauce in take-out containers so easy to go. The fried shrimp was very good and I could have eaten a dozen, but we took a few home for the kids. I will definitely be back with the family as the cost was reasonable and not as bad as the city. Great job Tom's Crab Shack.

This place reminds me of Boiling Crab in the southbay but this is soo much better because the seasoning is perfect! It is reasonably priced. We had the clams, snow crab legs, shrimp, & garlic noodles. I would recommend the shrimp, clams, & garlic noodles - they were finger lickin good! Definitely coming back and is our new spot!

Food is good but HIGHLY recommend NOT coming here when they're busy. It's been 2 hours since we sat down, everyone before us is finished and gone, and half of our order is still missing. Not good for big groups. Hope they can better organized staff and service because I'd like to come back.. but won't be anytime soon

First time giving a review. I love the cajun style boil, this place was absolutely horrible. I looked at the reviews before going here, I figured I'd give it a shot. Ordered 3 pounds of Crawfish combo sauce medium. The sauce was very salty with no flavor. To paint an even more vivid picture, I'm a person with High blood pressure, I love salt. This particular experience was horrible. I will never go back. Take it how u want.

This place is ok. Not the best crawfish I had and definitely nothing special. They were out of oysters which was a big disappointment. We got the shrimp the the crawfish. Standard and nothing special.

I Have not had the pleasure to review this business yet as a dine-in customer because I've only had it as take-out thus far but I have to say the food is great. The crab is fresh, wonderfully seasoned and reasonably priced. Will return

Food was OK, service was totally slow. Sure seemed like they just opened up. It wasn't even busy but the three servers were running around like it was, really disorganized. Price is fair that's a plus.not going on my favorite list that's for sure.

We dropped by around noon for lunch yesterday (Monday, 4/13/15). Enjoyed being nearly the only customers in the place but that situation will change soon because it is a great restaurant. I'm not sure what flavor the iced tea was but it didn't taste all that great - had some type of flowery taste. The food was good and well priced for what we ordered. We would have like to have some dungeness crab but the price seemed a little steep for that (it could just be our mental math though - in reality the price probably wasn't too much higher than the snow crab that we ordered.) The server was mainly good but she lost track of the need to bring the bill so I had to track her down. All in all a very pleasant experience.

I was glad to find Tom's Crab Shack because I was disappointed in Rockin Crawfish. The Tom's Combo sauce was very good and I actually really liked their garlic fries and chicken wings. I especially liked their mango fruit tea. They can work on their garlic noodles though. The noodles were gummy and it was slightly dry. The service was also good. Very attentive. I also liked the design of their restaurant. Overall good alternative to other popular cajun spots.

Was here a while ago, we ordered shrimp, crab, and the combo. The lady said no more crab ok, they serve our soda and water soda has ice but the water no ice. When our order came didn't give us the rice I have to ask where is the rice? I have to ask again for the rice , she said they are still cooking it . I was so pissed coz they didn't even tell us that they have to cook rice . We decided to go home. Good luck to you guys but very poor customer service. I will never ever come back here.

Went here last night and ordered the number 2 combo. 2 lbs of shrimp 1lb clams. Also ordered garlic noodles and the fruit tea. By far the best place in concord. The rocking crawfish will have to take the back seat on this one. The Garlic noodles wasn't as good as kickin crab but their "Tom's flavor" was still very well prepared. Enjoyed it. Would come here again. Place is clean and not very busy at all. Food was quick to come out and the staff was very friendly.

its my second time come to tom's crab. i got an order of combo 2 which was enough for 3people. And I also order mango fruit tea and passion fruit tea. The food was delicious, the service was good. tip: order a side of rice with your combo!

There is no reason to go to this new addition to Concord's restaurant collection - not for the ambience, not for the earnest but inept family wait staff, not for the decor that sports a warning to resist the impulse to draw on the graffiti-decorated walls lest you encumber a $100 fine, and most of all, not for the food. If you're craving fried oysters or fried catfish or shrimp boil, go across the street to Rockin' Crawfish, where they get everything right, including the Cajun fries. The fried oysters at Tom's are breaded like corn dogs so that you're biting through a layer of batter that can stand up on its own. At RC, the fried oysters wear a delicate, crispy coating that enhances, not hides, the lusciousness inside. We also had the fried catfish app, tasteless, and the Cajun and garlic fries - the Cajun fries were sprinkled unevenly with seasoning so some were heavily seasoned and others not at all, and the garlic fries were tasty as long as you avoided the large (1/4") chunks of garlic interspersed with the rest of the (again, unevenly) chopped garlic sitting mostly in the bottom of the basket. I want my money back.
