Among the steaks, you must stay away from the Applebee's Riblets platter as well as Bourbon Street Steak at all costs. Shrimp 'N Parmesan Sirloin is also not recommended. High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.

High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. So, skip those items at Applebee's.

Much better experience today! Came in for my wife's birthday lunch, and so there's that extra pressure for it to be good. And it was. Terrific server kept us happy with special orders and refills! Food was much better this time. I tried the Triple Hog Dare Ya sandwich, which is pulled pork, topped with bacon and Canadian bacon as well as crispy onion straws! It was fantastic, and it filled me up. It came with the new homemade chips, which were crunchy and nicely seasoned. My wife ordered a BLT with soup. She asked for no tomato. It arrived with undercooked bacon and tomatoes, but our terrific server fixed it up right away. My wife said she loved it, and the tomato basil soup was excellent as well. We had the birthday sundae and a brownie bite dessert. The sundae was just ok: vanilla ice cream, a small dollop of chocolate and drenched in too much whipped cream. But it was free. The brownie was really good, served warm with ice cream and hot fudge, and we both liked it a lot! We'll be back again!

Can't believe we only have one Applebee's in this town and this is it... That being said this one is popping during dinner time. I love the employees here. I've never gotten bad service or attitude from any of them. They are always friendly, attentive and caring. Whoever the manager is here.. I want you to know you are doing a great job with this restaurant! I love coming here for dinner and a few drinks. The drinks here are strong and very good. Try the perfect margarita. You won't be disappointed. The food is pretty good also for a chain restaurant. The molten lava cake is my favorite dessert. So yummy! Applebee's, 5 stars!

The only good things about this visit was they gave us happy hour out on the patio and the first waitress we had was perfect. But everything after was bad. Came with a group of around 16 to celebrate a going away party. They would only seat us if half of our group was there, understandable. Once we were seated they start taking drink orders. We had a perfect waitress who was very personable and interactive but then they swap her with someone else. This new waitress doesn't look happy and you can clearly tell she is pissed. She takes our orders of the current people there and leaves.Okay. Drinks start coming out about 15 minutes later, and after that no one checks up on us until our food arrives 30 minutes later. People are constantly opening the door of the patio and looking around at our group and then leave, never saying anything. Also, it took almost an hour just for us to get silverware to the point where we were sharing one utensil set and I was eating my boneless wings with a knife. A KNIFE. It took one of our friends about 45 minutes and a reminder to the waiter (who was just bringing out food) to get her sriracha shrimp that when brought out was cold. The waitress was quick to get our checks and we were more than happy to get out. Not worth it, but what else do you expect from Applebee's.

Always a happy "happy hour" got rid of the cheap college kids with just $20 in pocket and spending $20 bucks on drinks, back to neighborhood Applebee's!!

Service is not all that great. The sweet potato fries are awesome ! They come with 3 different dipling sauces marshmallow, sriracha, and BBQ. Caesar salad is good. The steak is also pretty good with the shrimp and creamy sauce on top even though the shrimp taste like small frozen shrimp from a bag.

My husband and I went there for a meeting with another vendor and really enjoyed ourselves! The staff was very pleasant and love the food! Menu is easy to read and the serves is very good. Our water and tea was Never empty. Thank you and we plan on going again.

I like this location. They changed the menu. The pub diet items are a great addition. The staff here is always courteous, the wait staff makes great recommendations. Great place foe the family.

Typical Applebee's. Came here for lunch since it was close to my mother in laws place. Hubby had a lunch combo of Thai Shrimp Salad and a Wrap. I had french onoin soup and honey chicken. It came with fries too. I was very pleased with the soup. Good flavorful broth, plenty of onions and a bunch of cheese and bread on top. The chicken was delicious and moist and the fries were piping hot. Minus one star for the overly air conditioned place. I know Bakersfield gets super hot, but I had to ask to be moved because of the arctic wind chill that was blowing on me. The server said it's automatic and she can't adjust it. If you go, bring a jacket.

We used to love Applebee's but I can honestly say they are disgusting! Who can go wrong on a kids pizza? I nearly vomited trying my son's food because he refused to eat it. Our server Charlana went missing in action for 20 minutes. We were gonna order dessert but we waiting tooooooo long for her to come back from lala land that we didn't want anything after all. Don't come here!!! Just go to Denny's hahaha!!

Good service. Good drinks. Tasty food. Typical chain style restaurant, but I appreciate the detailed portion counts on the menus, calories, proteins, fat, carbs. Perfect for whatever kind of diet of the month you want to claim! My skinny margarita was lite, and perfectly balanced out, not overpowering with one ingredient over another. I had to click #4 due to the amount of the beverages served. My glass probably only held about 4.5 ounces. Then again, it was a skinny???

First time trying Applebee's here locally. I opted for a two time special at lunch. The food itself was just ok. Not the best, not the worst. I had a salad ( dressing screw up) and a basic half sandwich ( condiment screw up). Service was to be expected mediocre. All in all had I not had a gift card that allowed me to eat for free I never would have tried Applebee's. That being said I won't probably be back either.

Disorganized .... just before they brought out my food then they want to tell me there's no more onion rings and the fries where stale ... all I wanted was onion rings

Worst experience ever!!! Found a hair laying on top of my steak right after the plate hit the table starving from waiting over an hour on our food and the waitress has the nerve to come back and say in an accusing tone that none of the cooks have hair and that it looked like wig hair!!! Wow really didn't know I was skilled enough to drop a hair on my plate right in front of you hmmmm...... Waited not even a couple minutes before they had another plate out to me so I'm thinking maybe their questioning of my honesty is a sign of there dishonesty!!! BEWARE OF THIS PLACE!!! I WILL NOT BE BACK AT THIS LOCATION!!!

Really love the staff here. Glen and Angel always make you feel like their special guests. Food is always consistently good. Not a typical Applebee's. Very nice experience when you are looking for a relaxing bite to eat.

Service was good but food was horrible. They messed up on half the orders and they forgot the kids maccorini that we ordered. My potatoes were hard and didn't taste right. As we were leaving we saw a big bug on the inside of the door.

Horrible service. They had us wait for 30 minutes just to tell us that they called our name and gave our table to someone else. She didnt realize that we were sitting right next to her along.

2 stars only cause they have 805 on tap. Other than that, not a good visit. Ordered a medium well bourbon street steak. I got 7 little potatoes, steak was charred on the outside and had no flavor. It is piece of meat and call fill a 6 year old. Best thing on my plate was my wife's bacon from her heavily loaded classic blt.

Went there on a weekend, it was fairly busy. The food came out slowly and tasted okay. Our visit to AppleBee's was made very pleasant by our beyond great waitress, Emily. She was super friendly, made sure to check on us frequently, and give us updates on the status of our food. If anything would bring us back here it's Emily's excellent customer service!

Rarely will I give a chain restaurant 5 stars, but our last family outing to Applebee's was certainly worth commendation. We primarily go for the hot wings and happy hour spinach artichoke dip and drinks, and occasionally we'll pop in to view a basketball game. This evening not only was our hostess, Amanda, delightful and funny, but also the manager, Dylan, was the perfect balance between accommodating, friendly, and professional. There appeared to be a very positive energy throughout the restaurant, easy and light; the service and table side manner, remarkable. Sometimes the social ambiance can totally make a dining experience, and tonight was no exception. Great job!

  • Hailey M.

I went in with some of my friends and they had us wait about 45 min for a table. It was ridiculous because we obviously saw that there were tables available. The waiter was nice but lacked customer service. The food was ok. We ordered hot wings as an appetizer and they came out cold. I know for a fact I will not be returning to this Applebee's ever again. Worst experience ever. Save yourself the torture and go somewhere else.

Horrible, L.A. applebees are better, asked to substitute one item and the waitress automatically said no. I'm in the hospitality industry, she should have said "let me check if we can substitute for a ceaser salad". When we arrived we informed them we had 8 adults and 1 child. There was a large table in plain view, 3 groups that arrived after us were being seated first. In the end I don't blame the employees, I blame the management, poor leadership.

They're horrible! The food is okay. The service was bad waited over 20 minutes for a table.. because the bar was full of people.. The hostess said that this side is closed. WTH... ok whatever... waited, waited and waited, they skipped us and started seating people that just got there and they didn't even have reservations.. they didn't care about us. We got up and left.

Best Happy Hour in town. My friends and I love the late night happy hour. We can meet up for drinks after closing our restaurants. Great drinks, appetizer, and prices!

    (5)
  • Iman H.

It seems that they recently went under new management. The reason for that is because they've cut their food portions. Also I asked for my drink to coke out before my food, and she ended up bringing when I was done with my food. I told her that I no longer wanted it, and she ignored me and left it on my tab.

    (2)
  • Rikk P.

Drink arrived quick then waitstaff to a long time to take order. Noisy environment many loud over-the-hill men and women drinking to much. Distracting when trying to watch the game. The good many large screens disbursed through out.

I used to be a fan of this Applebees location, but I no longer am. The last couple of visits have just been mediocre. Their menu seems to be constantly changing. I do not have any favorite "go to" entrees here. Normally, I just order whatever deals they have going on at the time. During our experiences here, we have always been treated fine. Can't remember a time when the service was bad or the food awful. I am kind of surprised that this place still gets packed. Each time we've been here, we have had to wait a few minutes to be seated. I suppose they remain busy because of their good location at the Marketplace. It can't be because they serve amazing food because as I said earlier the food is just mediocre. With all that being said, this Applebees branch is A-OK. They could be a lot better though like they used to be.

    (3)
  • Brian G.

Food was ok but the waiter left and went home before we ordered turning a quick meal into a very long evening. I don't plan on going back.

Come here for a beer not food. Applebee's food in general doesn't have that good of food. It tastes like it just came out of the microwave. Cheap but cheap. The waitresses are nice enough but not worth eating this food.

    (2)
  • Ashley K.

I am sitting at your empty bar right now. There are severs everywhere. I've been here almost 10 minutes with no service at the EMPTY bar. Lucky for you, as I type, someone comes to the bar. You almost lost money to someone else for zero service

    (1)
  • Lynn U.

The appetizer sampler was tasty, I forgot to take a photo. The rest of our meal was mediocre. The waitress was nice though and despite being busy we were sat in 15 minutes and the place seemed clean. 1 star for the quality of food, because despite their attempt to be more than basic the taste is lacking in a major way.

It's rare when we come here and we get good service, so our visits have been fewer and further apart. We came for happy hour and our waiter couldn't tell us what was in certain drinks on the menu and then forgot about us.

Food was OK. Sat at bar and heard bartender complain about a customer ordering multiple milkshakes and sending them back. I mean complaining loud enough that the entire bar and anybody sitting in the area could hear. Also heard remark from waitress that he should "put a little extra in the next one". Awesome right?? All of this right in front of manager whom acted like he did not care.

Took the family there for lunch and during our visit remembered why we haven't been there in a loooong time. My wife asked for a balsamic dressing for her salad and the server told her she could bring some oil and vinegar that my wife could mix together, strike one. I asked for thousand island dressing and the server said that they don't have that either, strike two. I asked for know tomatoes on the brisket nachos. Just before they came out our server told me that when she checked on the food there would be tomatoes on my food as it's in the mix of cheese they put on them and asked if it was ok. I said I would just pick them off. When she brought the food I looked at my nachos and didn't see cheese at all. It was covered in lettuce and the tomatoes were just sitting on top of the lettuce. When I asked about the tomatoes just being put on top she told me to just lift the lettuce and take the tomatoes off...seriously. Food wasn't great and the server full on lied about my food and then basically told me I was just going to have to deal with it. Screw this place. No wonder it was damn near empty at 1:00pm on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon. Don't waist your time or money.

Freezing cold atmosphere. Employees say that cannot be changed. I requested to speak to the manager and was reminded by another employee that nothing could be done as the cooling system is locked by corporate. They do not care. We could not finish our meals. Due to a medical condition exacerbated by extreme cold, we had to leave and will neVer be back again. Two employees did not care about that either. How can they pay their AC bill? Ridiculous!

Our go to place is usually BJ's, but we wanted something different for a change. So glad we changed it up this time. Aaron was our waiter, and he was spot on. Didn't miss a beat with refills or noticing I might need something else to drink when my mudslide was almost gone. So, even though he was the star of the day, the food was right on par with his 5 star service. Me and my son both ordered the Thai shrimp salad. Just the perfect balance of sweet and sour. So very good, and the portion was perfect. My daughter had an herb shrimp and steak, cooked a perfect medium rare, just like she ordered. My other daughter had chicken and shrimp. We all had to sample each others food to see which was the best. It was a close tie between them all. We'll be splitting our time evenly between BJ's and Applebee's from now on. Can't say enough good things about the entire dining experience.

Love that many options have weight watchers points already calculated! The food is hit or miss. I've had great meals and just okay meals. While on weight watchers it is handy as many of hte meals come pre-calculated for you. Service is fast and they aren't too pricy. It seems they always have a dinner combo (2 for $30 or something like that) which makes it especially affordable if the options suit your liking.

Oh Applebee's, I used to adore your 2 for $20 greatness. My husband and I used to come here often for lunch dates, the food was pretty great. What happened?!?! We came here about a month ago and I was very disappointed. My pasta was brought out to me cold, yes, very cold. The sauce was flavorless and bland. Our spinach dip was warm, on the verge of being cold with no flavor either. This is the worst part... My husband. I have been blessed with a husband who will literally eat anything. He is not a picky person by any means, so for him to not like something is BAD. He ordered a steak and literally doused it in a1. This was the first time I have seen him use a1 since we've been together. His potatoes were very good, but the veggies were cold and bland as well. Our server wasn't very friendly either. She barely smiled and couldn't even be bothered to tell us goodbye or have a nice day when we left. I hope she enjoyed her undeserved, way too high tip we left her. Maybe that brightened her spirit.

Food is good. Service is bad when I went to eat there with my boyfriend they charged us more than what our bill said. When we checked our credit card statement we noticed so I called and talked to a manger and they gave me a call back it was the lady manager and she told me that everything in their part was good that it was my bank and just hung up on me.

Blegh. Came here for a late night dessert (love the ButterPecan blondie at other Applebees) -- which was fine. The coffee I ordered was disgusting, tasted like the pot was at least 5 hours old...and my hunches were correct, there were burned coffee grounds floating throughout my coffee! Yuck! Our waiter was ok, however other waiters weren't.

Ordered curbside from online. If I'm being generous the food was "ok". My husband ordered mashed potatoes with his ribs. They gave him the bacon bits in a tiny container but forgot to add the mashed potatoes... He did say the cross cut ribs were good. My pasta was way over-cooked, very mushy. Definitely not something I would go back for.

Service very slow server very unattentive. We won't be coming back ever again. Server never came back to take our order we waited 30 minutes then we left. We asked for a manager too. The last time I went to Applebees service was good and food was delicious.

Tonight my husband and I went to Applebee's for dinner after 10pm. The manager Dylan was angry, rude and very aggressive and kicked us out. When we arrived, there was no one waiting but they put our names on a list so we headed to the bar. While at the bar and waiting for service we notice a table available in the bar area, We proceeded to ask if the tables were open seating. The server said no; however, one other couple had come in. I proceeded to tell the server that we had arrived before them and our names were on the list. The server told us that we could take the table and that she would bring us menus and be right with us. Shortly after we sat at the table and were given menus, it happens... Dylan the manager comes over does not introduce himself but tells us that we have sat in reserved seating. We explain that we were their first and our names were on the list. We also explained we were given permission to be in the seats. Dylan then wants us to tell him who gave us permission because they don't work like that and he wanted to educated the server. Rather than getting her in trouble for doing the "right thing", my husband told him he did not appreciate his hostile and aggressive behavior nor did we want to get the server in trouble. He continued to tell Dylan that we were leaving. As we started to leave I noticed a group of young people who had come in and as we walked passed the hostess area they called....Greg party of two. I looked at them and told them to take us off their list because we were leaving. Part of me wanted to see where they were planning to seat us while the other part was dumbfounded as to why we were getting kicked out. I can only assume by looking around at the other clientele we were asked to leave because we did not fit into the appropriate group. We will never return to this establishment.

The server David was fantastic. Really personable and friendly. The only reason for missing one star is because of the over abundance of hostile drunks in the bar.

Me and my friend visited this restaurant and had a pretty bad experience. Ill start with the bad and finish with the good. Here is the bad. We had to wait for 45 mins to be seated when quoted for 20 mins. I expect this kind of system from restaurants. Though no professional it is a tactic used by almost all restaurants so that is not where my stars are lost. We were seated and the place was PACKED! again, rather expected. The cherry on top of it all was that we were seated next to a pair of parents who obviously had to sense of parenting when their child enjoyed playing with a knife and fork, throwing things over to our booth, and screaming at the top of his lungs. Nope, no effort by the parents or management to control the situation. Even after I brought it to the managers attention, he told me there was nothing he could do. He didn't even acknowledge our request to move and stated we would have to wait back in line like everyone else. And there go the stars. Here is the good. the food can actually taste rather good at times. Honestly I'd rather go to CPK. better service, better food.

The food here is disgusting, why would anyone ever go here? I went with my family with the intent of ordering a salad, but at 10 bucks for a salad served with their preservative laden dressings, no thanks. So I decided not to order anything. My mom ordered a steak that came with a side of vegetables and potatoes, so she gave me her sides. Let me tell you, these were the most overcooked vegetables ever! The vegetables were so overcooked that they didn't even hold their shape. It was like eating baby food. The potatoes tasted like chlorine. I tried some of their fries, which were good. No one at my table was really pleased with their food. I mean, it's edible, but it's just not good. I'm highly suspicious that this place just pops all their food in the microwave. The building and location are nice. The service is average. The clientele are mostly overweight. Do yourself a favor and cook at home, or support a local restaurant. As quaint as the "neighborhood bar and grill" slogan is, it should really be called "nationwide bar and grill."

Omg the service here is usually hit or miss w/ the last being a miss. Our server was so rude and only focused on one out of her 3 tables because they were ordering a lot of booze. I think waitresses should treat all her tables well because not only does she look bad but she's making her restaurant look bad. Anyways the food is just as good As any other Applebee's but I just didn't appreciate the service

The food is your typical Applebees fare, but watch out for the booths to the left of the bar. The seat cushions are in terrible shape. Management knows and does nothing about it.

Would rate zero stars if I could! Crystal the manager was rude to all of our guests. As a manager I would have never addressed issues like she did no wonder this establishment is rated two stars.

This place may have specials, however it could be free. You never get service. Hubby and I have gone twice, seated quickly. Never saw a server, didnt get asked if we wanted something to drink or a poke in the eye. Second time was too much for us. Will never go back. Got up and went to local Muertos. Food, service and fun so much better. support local dump Apple Bees.

I have come here at least four times and there service is getting worse every time. Tonight being a monday night I thought they would not be busy so the service might get better. My mistake they just dont care about customers. We waited for everything, to be seated, for drinks, then food and finally for a bill. Never going back again.

Been going here for a while. I will always love their oriental chicken salad! It is one of my all-time favorite salads. Stopped going here because we only get take out and the quality has gotten worse continually for what my boyfriend orders, usually steak or salmon.

5 star service. We got the patio and the servers were very attentive with getting drink orders, refilling drinks, and bringing our the appetizers fast. 3 star food. I had the appetizer package since I went to a mingling event. The boneless chicken wings were a bit too sour and had too thick of a soggy flour coating. The onion rings were nice. Fried nicely, not too oily. Batter stuck to the onions. The mozzarella sticks were fried very nicely as well, good crust, but the flavor was a bit bland. Could have used more herbs or pepper/salt on the crust. The salad was lackluster. Typical iceberg lettuce with a tad of carrot slivers and cherry tomatoes topped with cold grated cheese and hard bacon bits. Nachos were nachos. Not much to say about it.

I'm not a big fan of this restaurants but I know a lot of people for the drinks. Since I am not a drinker, I base this review soley the food. I would rate the food C-, I feel like its reheated frozen meal. I do enjoy their spinach dip and desserts but thats about it. I'd go to Chile's anyway, but since so many people love their drinks, Im happy with my spinach dip appetizer

If you are a vegan do not go to this restaurant!!!!! You will only be eating lettuce. Plus the waitress will give you attitude. Also it is just as cold inside as it is outside. 32 degrees. How does a place like this stay open for so long.

my husband and I have been there many times, and it was never anything special. but this last time was THE LAST TIME. it was busy but we were seated fast. our waitress was nice, but she seemed like she didn't have time for us, she was cold and distance. I ordered some pasta and shrimp plate. wen I received it there was a small piece of plastic in my pasta. when the waitress cams back I told her about it and she seemed like she didn't care. she asked if id like a replacement I said yes and she brought out my replacement way to fast for normal. we wont be going back

I know many of you are going to respond with, "What did you expect?" But ewe, soooo generic! My plate looked nothing like to photo on the menu and was mushy as well as tasteless. I am disappointed that I paid for it. On the contrary, my sangria cocktail was refreshing. I will never return except possibly to have a drink. Service was ok, not great.

Let me start this review by stating that I don't like Applebees. I used to like Applebees until I found out that just about everything they serve starts out frozen and they just microwave it on a plate. YUK! BUT, we were driving up to Fresno from SoCal and didn't want to eat fast food again so we thought, hey the kids like their cheeseburgers so we'll give it another shot. In typical Applebees fashion, they have plenty of seats available but they make you wait. My kids ordered the cheeseburger but they have turned the kids cheeseburger into a slider (TINY) and kept the same price. The service was ok, food was microwaved, but it wasn't fast food...now that I think about we would have done better at fast food.

Good menu..cooked badly. Our waiter tried but the manager just wanted to blow us off by giving us a free dessert. No Thank You! Spoke with Jeff Ward District Manager in regards to our experience and got nothing but fake apologies. Don't even try going here in Bakersfield...maybe another location out of town

We showed up on a Saturday evening and expected to see a big line waiting to be seated. What we did not expect was to see at least 10 open tables that were in plain view of the front desk. 4 more tables were open in the bar area (which is usually first come anywhere else) but we were not allowed to sit there either. Why do they keep open tables when people are waiting outside in the heat. They have lost me as a customer.

the girls who work here are bitches. it's a lot of work to be a waitress/waiter, i know, but no one made you get a job as a waitress. if serving other people's needs doesn't even have a slight of interest to you, then don't become a waitress! i ordered the southwest salad. if you plan on ordering a salad here, tell them to give you the dressing seperate. i didn't, and the greens where drenched in dressing. i couldn't finish the whole thing because of tastebud overload. we overheard the people next to us, and they were complaining about their appetizer never making it to the table. i couldn't make out what the waitresses was saying, but from the customers' reaction, it wasn't pretty. the manager came over and settled it. bad service = bad business. i'm never going back.
