Beastly fast breakfast (and all other types of) burritos that do the trick in the morning. Great service. Kind of dingy, diner-style, but nothing beats a half pound chorizo breakfast burrito to go!

  • Glenna H.

Wonderful friendly efficient service (great staff). They know my parents by name. The food is great and the price is right. Lots of value for your dollar. I visit Taco Don's every time I come to Prescott.

  • T-roy S.

Taco Don's is my go-to Mexican place in Prescott. I find it to be the best value in town, but it's also quite authentic, and I rarely have to wait more than five minutes for the food. I usually get a burrito, but you can't go wrong with any of the items on the menu. It's all good.

    (5)
  • Joy H.

My favorite Mexican food in town! Good quality. Good selection. Good price. Good service.

  • Sean H.

Gringo Mexican with a dingy inside and an un-advertised credit card surcharge listed as a "tax" on your receipt. If you like boring/safe Mexican, this might be your place. I ordered a combo with a taco, enchilada, rice, and beans and found it all to be bland an uninspiring (but with a nearly $10 charge, certainly not inexpensive). There are much better options for Mexican locally that are cheaper too. Although I didn't order it this time, I recall that they have pretty good Horchata. And their salsa is actually reasonably good.

  • Tony R.

I'm a fan of this place, my last review was in 2011, I think its time to update still a great place to eat. best chicken enchilada in town. I love the street taco's. chips are great salsa great. if your looking for a good place for lunch this is the place. I also come up here before they close for dinner at times too. very friendly staff. do yourself a favor and try this place out.

You'll want to come back for the service because I haven't seen as friendly a bunch of people anywhere else in town as I have at Taco Don's. Now, the food is great too, and it's always so well prepared, and the people behind the counter know their stuff as you're asking them questions left and right. We've had breakfast items, and combination plates, and everything is always so good. It's nothing fancy at all, but when you're in the mood for just good Mexican food, skip all the other places around and come straight to Taco Don's. You won't be leaving hungry, that's for sure. Oh, and if it's your first time, be prepared to be introduced to everyone. That's what happened to me on my first visit, and that's what made me come back many times over.

For good, plentiful, fairly priced Mexican food served promptly and with smiles this is the place. The management and staff are welcoming and hospitable. Tacos, burritos, enchiladas are all good and served hot. Packed for lunch but tables open quickly.

  • Crystal M.

Tried their chicken chimichanga. Very tasty. Chips were hot when we got them, which is awesome. And yummy salsa and guacamole. Definitely will go back :)

You know I hadn't been to taco don's in years but I guess it changed ownership a couple years ago. I went yesterday for chimichanga service was great price is very convenient and it was delicious!

My boyfriend and I were looking for good Mexican in Prescott and everyone we spoke to said that there wasn't a place in town. Then I was looking on Yelp and found Taco Don's. We came in for breakfast, which they serve all day long. I had a Chorrizo and Egg breakfast plate and my boyfriend ate half because it was amazing. We will definitely be coming back soon. The only note I have is they close at 7pm, which isn't a problem, but the hours are not posted on yelp.

  • Emiliano R.

This place is the best mex in Prescott! I have tried almost every place sice I moved from California and Taco Don's has no competition. Not to mention the value for your $$. Order the Fajita Burrito (enough for two meals)!

  • Wi H.

Don't do it. So bland and flavorless.

Taco Don's is a family favorite of ours and especially around the breakfast burritos. We would often make it a special family treat to go get breakfast burritos on Saturday mornings on a regular basis. The owner is great and knew us by name, as did a ton of the staff. This is a special find in Prescott, DON'T MISS OUT!!!

  • Eddie S.

Taco Don's rules. The food is great, the service is amazing and the price is right. Delicious. Best Mexican food in Prescott.

  • David G.

Taco Don's doesn't pretend to be anything but a good, hole in the wall local Mexican joint. My food is always good with fast, friendly service at a great price. What more can you ask for.

  • Jon Z.

Better than most of the mexican food here in Prescott. We're from Tucson, so we're used to the Mexican fast-food taco stand format. This particular one doesn't disappoint, and seems to be in line with the genre. The staff was very pleasant, more so than I'm used to at this type of place. I had the carne asada burrito, and the kids split a bean & cheese burrito. Both were good and the portions were adequate. The prices were reasonable. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Prescott.

Oh boy, I have been here twice and my first experience was incredible, and that's what brought me back. Unfortunately my second experience was not so good; I had called in an order because I wasn't feeling well and I just wanted something to fill me up, so I was going to order what I usually order at a taco shop/ Mexican restaurant: Carne asada burrito, stuffed with 2 rolled tacos (aka taquitos) and have the whole thing wrapped in a cheese quesadilla. The first time I went there it wasn't an issue at all and the girl taking my order was even impressed. When I had called in my order this time I was denied my request and when i had informed the girl over the phone that they had made this order for me before she came back to me with " We can't do it right now because we are in our lunch rush." That's a really bad excuse to give someone, especially a customer who wouldn't have a problem paying any amount for the order. Too be honest I've worked in the food industry for close to 6 years, my mom owns a deli in San Diego that I spent a whole year working in, and I held almost every position in the food industry from dishwasher to floor manager. Not once would you catch me saying to a customer that I can't fulfill their request on the account that we were too busy. If one of my staff would have told a customer over the phone that we couldn't fill their request, they would be instantly reprimanded for 1. not checking with me, and 2. for denied a customer their wants. Restaurants are a customer service based industry, and in my book the customer is always right, and if they are paying money to be fed, then they should be fed to their standards. I honestly don't think my request was too extreme for a busy kitchen because well it's a freaking kitchen. The worst part about the whole thing was that when my girl friend and I went to go pick up the order there was a zero line; Yes, the tables were busy, but it wouldn't have and shouldn't have been a problem. I'm glad that Taco Don's is a busy place, that means they serve good food, I just wish I could say the same for the service. I will say that I have no problems going back to this establishment, I just hope to be better served, and to have my requests fulfilled. How hard is it to make 3 individual items, and put it all together? if the manager wishes to speak to me on this matter please feel free to call me at (619)906-1058 or to email me at alextufail@gmail.com

Great food, but what makes us keep coming back is the owner and staff. Don't know how he always remembers our names! We feel at home here. The world needs more bosses like him.

This place is always busy. Food is good, just have to wait awhile to get it. People are friendly. Seating is extremely tight.

The time was about 12:30 PM. I returned to my desk to where I saw my supervisor eating a burrito. I inquired to where he purchased the burrito. "Taco Don's," he replied. Later that afternoon, I rushed to Taco Don's and found the restaurant to be closed. To my discovery, Taco Don's has a bit of an unusual business schedule; they close at 3 PM on weekdays. In my opinion, Taco Don's is the best option for Mexican fast food in the Prescott area. This business is situated in an older, standalone building - located about an eighth of a mile north from the city's post office - along Miller Valley Road. Like its business hours, Taco Don's drive thru system is a bit unusual. You don't order through the speaker/receiver/menu area. Rather, you must memorize what you want - or maybe write it down if you have a pen - then proceed to the main window to place your order. Errr... that's what I thought, until the owner of the restaurant kindly gave me a paper copy of the menu. For lunch, I recommend any of the beef burritos. For breakfast, I recommend the chorizo burrito. You can add options to your burrito. Also, I recommend chips and salsa (not complementary). Prices are very affordable, with meals in the $5 range. Service is very friendly and expedient. Also, for fans of horchata - Taco Don's has the best rice drink in the Prescott area. Additional Notes: - You can ask for a paper copy of the menu when ordering at the window.

Here is a family-owned, Mexican fast food restaurant in a Southwest mountain town that is already packed with a dozen or more Mexican places and a few "Mexican" chains that manages to holds it's own. We have hit this place for a lunch more than a few times and while is isn't a wildly imaginative nuevo-mexican-fusion establishment, we never fail to leave satisfied. It's your basic Americanized Mexican food - yellow cheese and the whole smear, but prepared with some skill and care. They offer some fine combination plates, always one of my favorites, and about as close to a Mexican buffet as Prescott seems to offer. They have an open kitchen, a feature that always pleases the foodie in me, so I can watch the guys cook as I wait for our order and that seems to make me appreciate the food that much more. The hits for me have been the Chorizo Burrito and the Fish Tacos; one for when I have a bearlike hunger, the other for the days when my jeans are a tad too tight! This place is really geared for takeout, as everything is packed to go, and there is a (busy) drive-up window, but they have a dozen or so tables and booths and they are always clean. I really wish the had real flatware; I have come to dislike the cheap, white, disposable forks in particular. Perhaps another down-check is that it is popular with the High School crowd and a few times it has been pretty mobbed. They seemed to be prepared for the traffic and keep churning out food and I don't think the quality suffered at all. How many High School students can you cram into a converted gas station? Quite a few, it appears! One gripe is having to order chips and salsa separate; I have been pretty well trained over the years to expect it at Mexican sit-down places, and I miss it here.

This is the best fast mexican food in Prescott. Jaime and the staff always take care of us. Ordered 50 breakfast burritos for a meeting, they cranked them out-no problem. Lunch is always great--but hard to get a table sometimes. Be a shark!

I've been to Taco Dons twice and the owner knows my name already. He is always so friendly. In addition to the friendly atmosphere, the breakfast burritos are amazing for how much they cost. I brought a couple of flagstaff friends here and they said a breakfast burrito that was like the ones they ate at Taco Dons would be waaaay more expensive in Flagstaff. The green chili and egg breakfast burrito is my favorite so far. I haven't tried anything beyond the breakfast burritos but I eventually will as I will be working in the area full time.

We were pleased to see tamales on the menu. The first taste of the tamale was a morsel of masa that was lying on the plate. It was great. Sadly, the tamale itself was very, very ordinary. The sauce was almost tasteless. The fish taco and carne asada taco were super boring, and came in two soft taco shells soggy with grease. We could only eat one with each taco. The other two were too greasy for the dog, even. The beans were similarly flavorless, and the salsa helped only a little. The salsa was parceled out in very small containers, and had to be requested each time. Nothing was bad, but we have no reason to return.

I was here a year ago and thought I'd see if it was really that boring of a menu. I was hungry last time here and didn't care what I ate just wanted food. Yes the food is that boring. A step above Del Taco if you ask me. I asked for simple things like a lime for my beer and had to wait for them to cut them up. I got one slice. Had to ask for more since I had ordered two soft corn carne asada tacos. I asked for chilies like serranos which I love. Blank stare. The owner, I think, was taking my order. He said he had jalapeno. Ok I'll take that. Then he asked if I wanted it deep fried. Huh? No! I just want it chopped up for my tacos. Oh you should try it. Me;: I don't eat fried food. Owner: then you don't like Mexican food. Haha really? Sorry are deep fried burritos Mexican? I thought whites made that up. Anyway my tacos came, shoft corn tortillas dripping in grease. Yuck! The pico on them was non exsistant. I can say the beer was good. Chips and salsa...boring! Not the hole in the wall I was looking for. Gringo food to the max.

Best shredded beef taco of my entire life!!! No lie folks they are perfect. Crispy light corn shell crisp lettuce and some cheddar on top of perfectly seasoned beef. The only reason I held back a star is that when you get them to go they have a habit of cracking.... No less delicious but do yourself a favor and have a sit in meal. As I was leaving the taco man in the window said to me " next time get them deep fried! They are amazing" I can't imagine them better but I can't wait to see for myself.

I love this place. Food is delicious, but traditional Arizona style Mexican food. Love the enchiladas and the rellenos. Not very fancy. But great food and friendly people.

    (5)
  • Richard M.

Jaime and his staff make this place feel like Cheers as he strives to acknowledge each guest. As an added bonus the food is pretty fabulous also. My wife loves the Chile relleno's and I always get the special of the day. I highly recommend the enchiladas as they have a really nice flavor to the homemade sauce.

  • Heather E.

This is a busy little order at the counter spot that is casual in terms of atmosphere and price. I would describe the food as tex-mex, and overall I liked the food. I ordered the street tacos, which were tasty and rice and beans, which is usually my favorite part of any meal at a Mexican restaurant. Unfortunately, I thought the beans tasted like they came straight out of a can, with no additional seasoning. Our favorite part of the meal was probably the chips and salsa, which I would definitely recommend adding to any meal. The counter services was very friendly. This is a decent lunch spot in Prescott. I would give them 3.5 stars, but I will round up to 4.

Whenever I get to Prescott (I have relatives there) one of my must stops is Taco Don's for the Indian Tacos (known as Navajo Tacos at the Cameron Trading Post). While maybe not as good as the ones we use to get in Cameron (when we lived on the South Rim) they are worth the effort none the less. I love fry bread and can't get it where I now live. Try it for desert with honey and powdered sugar too!

This place is the only drive thru mexican food place that I have found in Prescott, AZ. It doesn't stay open late but it is very convenient when you can get to it during the day. The Chorizo and Machaca breakfast burritos are fantastic. You can order them at anytime during the day. The prices are reasonable and the burritos are a good size. If you are looking for a good carne asada burrito here, that's all you are really going to find. It's not all that great, but not bad, just ok. I am from San Diego and the mexican food kicks ass there, so for Prescott, this is where I go to get breakfast burritos that taste like home. Food is not super fast here. If you do go to the drive thru, be prepared to pull around to the back and wait for your food. It's worth it though....I give it 3 noms. NOM NOM NOM!

    (4)
  • B E.

If your looking for great breakfast burritos from a semi fast food Mexican restaurant this is the place. That's all I get there so I can't speculate on any other meals.

    (3)
  • Ty L.

Probably the best Mexican food for the money in Prescott. Bummer they are not open week nights though. Not a typical sit down and order from a waitress place. Walk in, order at the counter and wait for them to call your number. Simple and always clean. Drive up window too.

  • Tom C.

Great food at a low price. That's hard to beat! A nice little hole-in-the-wall restaurant that has been in the area for a LONG time. Just watch out during weekday lunch time, as this is a hotspot for the local high schoolers.

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.
